watercolour supplies are the 1000000 terashits per gigafart of art
#im mooching some watercolour paper off my mom (forever grateful i have an artsy mother i can mooch supplies off of)#and im testing them out because i wanna see if i can go further with my student grade paints if i try out nicer paper#cause like my canson xl mixed media stuff is fantastic for smaller doodles and stuff but it buckles like HELL#and can only handle like 4 washes max#tried out some canson xl watecolour paper and it turns out. its worse#how is it worse#okay this is probably just my techniques im sure its fine for like#single layer light wash paintings#it doesnt buckle too much#but girl this thing cant even handle 2 layers of paint without lifting#at first i thought i just wasnt letting it dry long enough (althought at one point i was waiting like an hour)#but even after waiting and entire 12 hours PLUS busting out the heat gun it still lifted like hell#i cant deal with that like you can probably see from my art how much i love layering#you can see hints of lighter layers under the deeper final colour fkjdlakjsfs#and whenever i do shading in watercolour its GOTTA be cel shading. actually thats what im like with every traditional medium#even like. oil pastels. the thing everyone loves to blend. i dont like to fkjldskjfds FUCK blending all my homies HATE blending#maybe this paper works better with pro watercolours? im not ready for that yet tho so im just gonna keep testing paper#wish me luck......theres gonna be a lot of ranting about paper specs for the next few weeks#its gonna be even worse if i ever move to professional paints. im gonna start talking about pigments. truly 100000 terashits per gigafart
