i've still got lance parkins' commentary to read but i'm gonna call it a night for now and declare also that i Have finished the virgin new adventures (doctor who edition) and that i'm counting this as having done so before 2024 properly started. i personally liked the earlier investigative stuff more than the later 'occupied earth' stuff though it was interesting to see how our resident ice lord responded to strange human customs - but that's not to say i didn't like the back end of the novel as well. although some of that red death stuff was hard to follow - may just be because i was reading it quickly, lol. anyway i definitely couldn't write something that hung together this well if i was only given five weeks to do it in so i'm impressed on that level.

lungbarrow was the real 'finale' for me of the vnas, being the last one with the seventh doctor who did after all head the series for 6 years, but i think this was a nice epilogue. although he's absent from a large portion it's interesting to see early attempts to establish the eighth doctor's character based on one movie. i'm not going to start the edas just yet (i want to make some headway on the novelisation project which has been on the backburner for a While now first) but i'm excited to see how he'll develop there

The Doctor had decided that what defined a place best was its smell: everywhere has its own particular fragrance, and he now maintained that this characteristic was far more evocative than any view or sound could possibly be.
