Yep, I've seen on how you commented about Rhea'n'Sothis's VAs being different lol, but that's the lolcalisation for you/us hahaha. Is Rhea pausing after the "Wilhelm" in the line where she wishes he was alive? In PK we have suspension dots, but it could be similar to her FE16 line, her pause was longer in the jp version than in the lolcalised one (as was her tone but this is beating an undead horse now) but yeah, bar the ultimate WTF blunder between Flayn and Sothis, the lines seem to be similar!

So I’ve been thinking about Jujutsu Kaisen since it ended, especially since I have feelings about the last arc but really liked the last chapter, and that’s when it hit me

Jujutsu Kaisen shines when it’s just about the characters

I have many complaints about the series and how it fared post-Shibuya, especially because I still have lots of questions and missed opportunities that we’ll never get the chance to see resolved, but whenever it shone, it did brilliantly

Pre-Shibuya I called the characters some of the best in recent memory, hell Yuuji, Megumi and Nobara are in my top 10 of trios of all time, and would’ve been higher if only they hadn’t spent that much time apart, they are easily my favorite part of the story

How Yuuji wanted to die a good death like his grandpa told him and instead got to live so he can make memories with Megumi and Nobara

All that stuff in the ending about Yuuji trying to get Sukuna to live because he’s just that good, only for Sukuna to nope out because he chose Uraume instead, the one person that actually loved him

Megumi losing everything, and then fighting back because Yuuji told him how lonely he would be without him, especially because he still thought he had lost Nobara at the time, and also Yuuji’s reaction when Nobara came back, that was beautiful

Just the relationships that matter in this story

Gojo coming to terms with his best friend becoming evil and finding the strength to kill him, only to see him become Kenjaku’s vessel hurt so bad

Yuuta not wanting to get close to people because of Rika and then getting stronger and having him love Inumaki, Panda and especially Maki is so precious I love them so much

Maki and Mai having their differences but coming together in the most tragic way possible because yes, the system is shitty but they’re still sisters, they’re twins, and a part of Mai will always be with Maki

Mechamaru selling his soul for a chance to be with the Kyoto kids, with Miwa, only to have that chance ripped away a fight later

Just Nanamin, all about him and his influence in Yuuji

Sukuna taking over Megumi and then Gojo having to fight him, the body of the boy he raised and that he loves so much, and lose his life to him too

The moment that still gets me is when Geto tells Riko that she does have a choice and she makes it, going back home, only for Toji to shoot her the moment she was about to take Geto’s hand

The story is about love, platonic and romantic, the good and the bad, just love

Post-Shibuya the series was a mess, too many characters were introduced and aside from Higuruma, Takaba and maybe Hana, none of them did that much. Yuki was wasted, so were the Kyoto kids and Utahime, and having Nobara out of the story for more than half of it and giving an interview that made it clear she was dead for realsies, only for her to come back less than five chapters till the end was a choice

The thing I enjoyed most was the Zenin stuff, and once Maki and Noritoshi’s fight with Naoya was over it wasn’t the same for me

Gojo’s death was a choice, I wouldn’t have minded if it was done with a little more grace. The scene on the station, Yuuta and Sukuna’s reaction and Yuuji’s promise to remember him and do right by him get me, but I can’t give it too much thought because it feels like the author only did for shock value and because he hates Gojo, which he did by the way

The fights sometimes were too complicated, and that last arc, especially after Gojo dies, was rough, some decisions were eeehhh (having Tsumiki die like that really)

(Also, world building in the third to last chapter, are you for fucking for real)

Overall, it was meh, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t love it

I started reading Jujutsu Kaisen in late 2018-early 2019, way before its anime announcement, I never thought it would be so popular, but I’m glad it is, because my problems with the story aside I get to share my love with these characters with many people

Also, JJK 0 is now my to go Christmas movie and the ending, Sakayume, that song is beautiful, I remember listening to it nonstop for days after watching the movie, I think it was in my top 10 songs in Spotify that year

So for all its flaws, yeah it’s ok 💙

A Hundred Some New ATOM Kaiju pt. 14 OOPS I FORGOT A FEW

And by "forgot" I mean "for some reason they weren't in my ATOM folder but were on a discord server I'm in." One last bunch of oddballs!

Our first guy is TECHNICALLY in ATOM Volume 2 - and also not a kaiju, but rather a mecha. It's the Beyonders' personal mechanical mooks, which are based on the Flatwoods Monster.

Next we have a defective Mothmanud who, because of a flaw in its "programming," ends up loyal to Earth rather than the Beyonders, and sides with terrestrial kaiju during the Beyonder Invasion. It also, perhaps ironically, isn't hybridized with earth insects like the other Mothmanuds, giving it a more alien appearance.

Our third monster is also a variation of a Volume 1/2 kaiju, this one being very closely related to Metringar. She also happens to be THE kaiju of Loch Ness - not the sole monster of Loch Ness, mind, but the only one that's also a kaiju.

You won't believe me, but I swear I designed this one before Nope came out.

I think the goal behind this one was "lawyer friendly Godzilla expy," which is why it's got a Jirass-style frill. It's also got Gomora horns and Red King ridges, cause I kind of view those two Ultraman monsters as spiritual heirs to Godzilla.

Moose are basically real-life kaiju already.

Finally (for realsies this time), we have a big messed up koala.

Eh, I'm of two minds wrt Possessed!Byleth. On the one hand, this proves that Intsys does not really care about consistency in their main games and just want to sell units. On the other hand, Nopes is an Alternate universe of FE16 so *shrugs*. They left the coin they were using to fuck up cops on Yakou's desk out of respect during the ending. If that was the only financial transaction Halara's successfully completed since coming to Kanai Ward then they left with a negative net income.

And yet they keep saying this. Look at how happy they are to say it, too. Look at that huge fuck-off smile in the profile pic. They're having fun trying to turn a profit here. Making their sales pitch is their favorite activity, after long-distance cat-admiring.

Either way, that was a masterstroke. Yakou's greatest skill is billed as negotiation but we rarely get to see it in action. The last time it was prominent was way back when he talked Yuma out of an arrest at the Amaterasu Express station, at the start of the game.

I'm... having issues with this setup. The more I think about it, the more confused I get for why this is working. Like, the surface-level "LOL Halara likes cats" gag is obvious but.

Like. Okay. First, as noted, how does Yakou know about this? This is Halara's most tightly-kept secret. They seemed to suggest that only Yuma knows about this.

But also, Halara can't have a cat. Yuma and Halara talked about this. Halara has to love cats from a distance because they're extremely allergic. Their skin gets super itchy any time they touch one. Yuma specifically asked Halara if they have a cat, and Halara fired back with, "Nope, cruel twist of fate gave me allergies instead."

So. What changed? Are the allergies not a problem now?

Whatever the case, they are chomping at the bit to crack this thing. I think Yakou has officially come closer to the spirit of Halara's mercenary dealings than anyone yet.

That's a singular dog. I'm sure that will be important. Unless the dog is Yakou. I suppose it could be Yakou. It's ironic that Halara is unmistakably one of the cats here and yet Yakou is the one with over 9 lives.

I'm not quite as hyped for Chapter Halara as I was for Chapter Fubuki. Fubuki was peak excitement. But with both Halara and Vivia to look forward to, there's still a lot to enjoy here. And I admit, I'm curious as to what Chapter Yakou will have in store.

Halara seemed to have a lot of respect for Yakou. So much so that they were still desperately doing chest compressions for him, several minutes after his body went cold. Vivia also had a strong admiration for the man, so it's clear there were sides to him that we simply didn't get to see from Yuma's perspective.

It will be interesting to see him through Halara's eyes.

And also, in general, to spend time with Halara. They're a great character in general.
