One time at school me and my sister gathered a group of kids to make that Bill Cipher summoning circle (was it a summoning circle I actually forgot)… Jesus Christ…

Another time I grabbed my sisters 3Ds, recorded Bill Ciphers death, reversed it with the audio features on there, just to see what he said before he died, anyway I was freaking out over the axolotl thing for awhile ☠️☠️

I thought it was like a critical and universal moment in my development into adulthood when I realized everyone is Just Some Guy. no one is inherently more special than anyone else and the luck of being born in the right place at the right time can never be overstated

many many many things have happened since my own Just Some Guy revelation that has made it extremely clear that it is not a universal learning moment and has nothing to do with having a fully grown adult brain, it's just a coincidence that I figured it out in my late teenagehood. But the most annoying and ongoing thing is people who hate Harry and Meghan because they talk in a tone of like "how dare this Just Some Guy (Meghan) do this to The Royal Family‽" but it's actually quite easy to understand when you think of it in terms of Just Some Guys doing stuff to Just Some Other Guys. Even easier when you think of it as Just Some Guys doing stuff to Just Some Other Guys Who Think They're More Than Just Some Guys And Think The First Set Of Just Some Guys Are Less Than Themselves

I feel like people sometimes have a tendency to paint Inej as a little too wide-eyed and borderline naive and I feel like that's such a misread and disservice to her character, because her faith and hope for a better future isn't some misguided assumption that everything will be okay or that the world isn't so bad. She knows exactly how bad things can be and exactly what kind of evil people are capable of, and she's saying "fuck you, you can take my autonomy and my childhood and maybe I'll never see my family or home again, but I will literally die before I let make me think that the shit I've been through is all there is. The beauty and love I experienced was real and valuable and nothing you do or say will make me let go of that or believe it's not possible for me to have again," and it is genuinely the most incredible and real thing in those books.

Inej has fought tooth and nail for every ounce of goodness she has and she'll keep wringing it out of the world because those things are real and possible no matter what, and there's nothing naive about it.

I have a question about the jp server pickups, since I really want knight Sebek, but I’m trying to save gems for bloom malleus + the 3rd tsum event that’s gonna show up sooner or later. Iirc, after knight Sebek, the next story update’s pickup had all of the previous story cards (ie cerberus Ortho, general Lilia, and knight Sebek). Is this true, and if it is, did it include a token system like the dorm pickups where you can just do 100 pulls and then buy the specific card you want directly? Because if that is how it works, then I can wait until then and be sure I won’t have to go to 200 for him.

we did indeed get a second chance at those three when 7-7 came out! I'm pretty sure there was not a token system -- though admittedly I don't 100% remember, sorry! 🙇 I took a quick search through some past posts/videos from people who tend to include the gacha and news stuff, but I didn't see any mention of it, so I'm inclined to think there really wasn't one. :( they were all separate pickups with their own pull counts rather than a combined one, if that info helps at all.

speaking as a strict f2p who hoards keys/gems like the lovechild of a dragon and a magpie, given the choice between saving for a story card and a birthday card, I'd go for story -- it does require a lot of patience, but there are way more opportunities to get past birthday cards, both from the anniversary events and the rerun pickups! tsums is a bit harder to say anything on because Eng doesn't follow the same event schedule, but it's a longish event and those pickups let you have a free 10-roll, so I think they're also a bit easier to save up for.

(ALSO speaking of free rolls, starting with the fifth round of birthdays -- the kutsurogi my room ones -- the birthday boy/union jacket/bloom cards have had a separate pickup that you can get two free 10-pulls at by doing missions! I got a bloom Jade from it a couple weeks ago. :D meanwhile general Lilia is the only story card I've ever managed to pull, so...I'm probably kinda biased. whoops.)

i do not want jeremy knox to get red-carded in defense of jean. i don't really want any of the trojans to get red-carded at all, but least of all jeremy. i believe it goes against everything we understand jeremy's character to be. i believe it is important to show that there can be anger without violence. that there can be retribution without pain. jean does not need another aggressor on his behalf; he has himself, he has neil, and he has everyone he has ever put his faith in.

jeremy prides himself on his level-headedness and ability to reel back his violence. it's obvious that he has worked on this. he has not always been this way, yet this is how he is now, and this is how he is going to stay. it would be nice to see him angry for jean, but we've already seen that. it would be better to see him seething, fists tight, yet never throwing that punch. never letting his emotions get ahead of him. because that is who he is, and that is the exact kind of character nora set out to write.

anger can exist without violence. i think, if it were younger nora writing this, she would write the red-card without a second thought. but she is not so young anymore. this entire series is a love letter to the mistakes and errors she made in handling her characters in the original series. jeremy is not going to get red-carded because he is never going to throw that punch. jean might. jean would. because jean is still learning how to break away from the violence he's lived in for his entire life. but jeremy is right there, showing him that change is possible, that not getting violent is not a hit to your pride if you don't perceive it that way.
