Ok, so I loved this post

The part that got me though was when you said “I wonder what type of animal form they take factors into that” - that’s where the gears in my head started turnin’

So I went snooping on each animal counterpart associated with each sin.

1.) SLOTH: are cats sensitive to cold?

So Kuro isn’t JUST a neet that prefers blankets or a kotatsu over the cold… his animal form being a cat does play some part… key word beings some

“Cats are pretty well adapted for cold weather, but when the temperature dips below freezing they are susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite. During periods of cold weather, cats will go looking for a warm place to hunker down. How cold is too cold for indoor cats? Cats prefer warmth but will be okay in rooms hovering between 50-60°F degrees; while their counterparts Lions, in a zoo environment, stay outside in the winter unless the temperature dips below 40°F (in the wild, most lions don’t have to worry about temperatures dropping below 65°F so in most cases 40°F and below is too cold).”

SLOTH SENSATIVE TO COLD? ✅ (yes)

2.) PRIDE: are bats sensitive to cold?

“Bats can't survive freezing temperatures, even when they're hibernating. Any roost bats shelter in for the winter must be at least 45°F or warmer. They also seek out dark, secluded, and sheltered places that can keep them safe from predators. Bats are defenseless while they're hibernating.”

PRIDE SENSATIVE TO COLD? ✅ (yes)

3.) ENVY: are snakes sensitive to cold?

Jeje being a snake is pretty much a given… but it’d be mean to not include him (so no funny ideas outta you, ok Mikuni?)

“What is the coldest temperature a snake can withstand? Snakes usually stay out of cold climates. Because the coldest temperature any snake can thrive in is around 65°F, snakes normally live in the warmer temperate or tropical zones. Below 60°F, snakes become sluggish. Above 95°F, snakes become overheated.”

ENVY SENSATIVE TO COLD? ✅ (yes)

4.) WRATH: are wolves sensitive to cold?

“Wolves don't need to do anything. They're much better adapted to cold weather than we are. Thanks to their winter adaptations, wolves can live in temperatures as low as -40°F. During the coldest nights, a wolf will curl itself into a ball, covering its nose with its tail, which will hold the exhaled warm air over its feet and nose, conserving precious body heat. It will also sleep close to its pack-mates(her Eve) in a unified effort to stay warm.”

WRATH SENSATIVE TO COLD? ♾ (neutral-ish)

5.) GREED: are hedgehogs sensitive to cold?

“Hedgehogs getting cold is a BIG ‘No no’. It slows their metabolism down, leaving them susceptible to infections, dehydration and starvation. It's important to keep your hedgehog in an environment between 72-80°F. Even if it’s not always comfortable for us humans (comfortable for angels? no clue), temperatures lower than 70°F are considered ‘cold’ for hedgehogs and can result in a hibernation attempt, which can be fatal.”

Maybe that’s why Lawless always wears that scarf? Since hedgehogs are severely thermally sensitive then it would make sense…

GREED SENSITIVE TO COLD? ✅ (yes)

6.) GLUTTONY: are pigs sensitive to cold?

In this case I will refer mostly to Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs because as far as I know, we haven’t actually seen Ildio’s pig form yet - one of the only depictions is Lawless’ stage depictions of the 7 vampire siblings in ep6… and based on his stage depiction of Ildio’s pig form, Viatnamese Vietnamese Miniature Potbellied Pigs seem like they’d be the common type of pig that seems to fit that shape/size.

“The ideal temperature range for a potbelly pig is 65-88°F. Pigs in winter do not need any type of supplemental heat down to at least -20°F. Most potbelly pigs require more feed to maintain heat production and body condition; meaning that housing aside, the more feed/calorie intake, the easier it can be for pigs to regulate their body heat.”

However, seeing as Ildio is an ageless vampire with the mother-effing holy grail of metabolisms, we don’t know if his MASSIVE calorie intake, that he doesn’t really gain much/any weight from, will actually help him in cold weather.

GLUTTONY SENSATIVE TO COLD? ♾❔(neutral/unknown where they stand exactly)

7.) LUST: are butterflies sensitive to cold?

Snow Lily’s butterfly appearance is probably one of the most exaggerated of the 8 servamp animal forms. That gorgeous shade of pink and black aside, I couldn’t find any real buttwrfly species with that wing pattern or wings shaped like that. So color and wing pattern aside, I’d say the closest real-world butterfly to Snow Lily would be a variation of Swallowtail Butterfly.

Butterflies are cold-blooded critters, however, generally speaking butterflies won't fly when temperatures are less than 55-60°F.

LUST SENSATIVE TO COLD? ✅ (yes)

8.) MELANCHOLY: are foxes sensitive to cold?

Even though Tsubaki’s two tails seem to be a play of of the legends of Nine Tail Fox, generally speaking based off his other details being black fox with white on the end of his tail(s), he is most likely a Silver Fox; which is a type of Red Fox.

The upper critical temperature of the red fox is probably between 86-89°F. An official temperature range of what is too cold for red foxes is more or less unknown or unofficial at best. The arctic fox is said to be able to tolerate temperatures as low as -72°F but red foxes haven’t occupied the tundra in the past partly because it was too cold; with their longer ears and limbs, they lose heat faster than their arctic cousins. So we know the average red fox can tolerate and survive cold temperatures, but most likely not temperatures like their arctic counterparts live in.

MELANCHOLY SENSATIVE TO COLD? ♾❔❌ (neutral/unknown where they stand exactly/least affected of the bunch)

and after ALL OF THAT…

the most interesting thing is–

when I first got into SERVAMP, I remember being curious where the concept of ‘the different sins transforming into animal forms’ came from. After a little research, I found that there is a history to it! A very detailed account of the origins and representations of them within history. And a small portion discusses the animal depictions of the original 7 deadly sins⬇️

“An allegorical image depicting the human heart subject to the seven deadly sins, each represented by an animal (clockwise: Toad = Avarice [greed]; Snake = Envy; Lion = Wrath; Snail = Sloth; Pig = Gluttony; Goat = Lust why? I have no idea; Peacock = Pride).”

So Jeje and Ildio’s animal forms are the only ones true to the original depictions of their associated sins.

Pride as a peacock does make sense… but I can understand adding the bat into the mix because - vampires.

I get why they’d change Kuro to a cat instead of a snail because I can’t see a snail being threatening at all unless it’s either severely poisonous or Gary… like, supernatural vampire powers or not, Kuro as a snail wouldn’t be very badass.

Why the ever living f*ck would a goat reprint lust? Originally I was going with the possibility that goat could be related to ram, ram represents Aries, Aries is one of the most lustful zodiac personalities… but no, apparently the goat represents the Devil, lust, lubricity and the damned… so that’s fun - I prefer the butterfly thank you very much.

Apparently frogs symbolize greed because it is a greedy creature in desiring to live in both worlds- on the land & in the water… okay I guess?

& lastly even though the Lion role is also occupied by Kuro within the series, I can understand Wrath not maintaining the original Lion role swing as Wrath is female and they probably wanted a male to hold the depiction of Lion so that the could use the lion’s mane, again, to add to the badass factor… regardless I don’t think Wrath as a lioness would have played out the same way… is it sexist when referring to animals? Whatever - that’s a question for another day.

10 Times Arnav Singh Raizada Crossed The Line (Part 1)

Arnav Singh Raizada is our perfect, tortured Mills & Boons hero. Sometimes it’s unfortunate when recent shows have aped his behavior and not the layered characterization that he had. However, sometimes (according to my own opinion) I felt that his character might have crossed the line.

It’s moments where no explanations justify his behavior.

Please remember this is all my crazy opinion so feel free to add your own in notes! Oh and don’t worry, a similar list is coming for Khushi as well as they’re truly made for each other. After all, aren’t they our favorite ‘will-they-won’t-they’ idiots?

Tearing the dori.

Arnav Singh Raizada does not apologize.

Blasting at Khushi for pranking, PRANKING him.

Telling Khushi her anklet, their almost kiss & she, does not matter.

Arnav Hypocrite Raizada - forcing an engaged Khushi to confess her feelings when he’s unable to do so.

Reminding Khushi of her broken engagement cause he can’t handle jealousy.

Manipulating & frightening Khushi with Akash & Payal’s divorce papers.

Telling Khushi he ‘faked’ his sickness to get rid of the ‘Swami’ tag.

Refusing to believe Khushi’s version of events.

Becoming Khushi’s landlord and blackmailing her (emotionally and financially) to get her to come back home.

Bonus

Telling Khushi that she does not have the brains, courage nor talent to face the real world.

#1 “Badtameezi toh maine abhi shuru bhi nahi ki.” (S1, E2)

“I haven’t even started misbehaving.”

First Reaction: No Arnav bitwa, no. That dialogue never has and never will make sense.

What’s wrong with it:

Almost everything. First of all when someone is in a position to abuse his/her/their position of power and authority, they don’t get to make rules on what counts as misbehavior. Secondly, just because one hasn’t sexually harassed a person does not mean one’s harassment hasn’t been “bad enough”.

Arnav’s behavior crossed the line the minute you tell Khushi that she and her sister are the kind of women who can easily get another man - and none of us are kids here to know what the thinly veiled insult meant to Khushi & Payal’s character.

What makes this entire situation problematic is that he accuses her with certainty based on assumptions and Khushi, really, has not warranted any sort of behavior from his end - she actually makes a compelling argument. This kind of a situation, unfortunately, keeps happening in the future where Arnav accuses her based on half truths/assumptions.

Of course there’s a part of me that always wonders what idiots as staff does Arnav have because they; (1) let a newbie go on the ramp (can’t imagine that happening at a Sabyasachi / Manish Malhotra fashion show), (2) are incompetent enough to not be able to procure and verify any information about Khushi.

Track Rewrite:

First of all, this is perhaps the only terrible moment that I want to leave untouched. It’s perfect. It sounds ludicrous but this level of animosity was required to create a hatred the two had for each other until love and lust suddenly stormed into their thoughts.

Khushi looks perfectly devastated and Arnav’s anger rises because his fashion show in Lucknow (out of all cities) has been ruined. The less can be said about recent shows where there’s very little logic to the hatred shared between characters.

It establishes that Arnav has been very aware, right from the start, how beautiful Khushi is. And not just the delicate beauty like Payal, but the beauty that can make one lose their path, their calm, their temper and tempt them out of their stupor.

It’s this opinion that he forms about Khushi that he subconsciously carries for the longest time - (it’s what makes it easier for him to believe Shyam’s version of events because this assumption of a tempting, young, poor woman out to seduce the rich never really leaves his mind).

Head-canon:

This was the only time Aman Mathur took a vacation. Poor Arnav, he really needed efficient staff.

Public Service Announcement:

Ladies and gentlemen, this does not mean that hate, pain and misbehavior is necessary for love to bloom. No, love does not have a template and this is a love story that happens despite the hate, not because of it.

Also, just so you know that Khushi - or any person - is not responsible for the things that happen to them. If a person’s self respect, dignity or agency is threatened - you go ahead and bash the attacker and not blame the person! *phew*

#2 “Arnav Singh Raizada kabhi kisise maafi nahi maangta.” (S2, E19)

“Arnav Singh Raizada does not apologize to anyone.”

First Reaction: Screw you Raizada! How dare you? Buaji - throw your infamous damned belan over his head! Raizada, do you realise you’re saying this while standing on someone else’s property?

And…

Why do I find it hot that Khushi opens the door to an impatient Arnav who’s dressed as dark as the sky, his temper matching the thunder in the background while they lock eyes? *i need help* when I watched this show for the first time I totally expected another scene like this would occur where Arnav asks her back or confesses his love. Yeah I trusted him enough to make another mistake where Khushi’s left home and he needs to get her back.

What’s wrong with it:

The things he said to her before he came to her house. The insults he levied on her are based on an accusation which is baseless. We get to know that until Akash’s public proposal to Payal that Arnav never bothered on learning the truth about what happened that night.

Hence it reveals another trait that Arnav never double checks his assumption until he’s faced with a confronting reality. But, in the length of time he’s gotten to know Khushi until that point - the things he tells her is way out of line.

And when he reaches her home, slapping that money on her table and insulting her in front of her family… yeah it’s difficult to watch that. Especially after all the Rabba Ve’s they’ve had and his difficulty & helplessness on learning that this same woman was going to leave for Lucknow forever.

Track Rewrite:

Arnav’s anger is really a projection of his frustration on himself for hurting Anjali and a terrible act of him confirming to himself that money can get him everything - even his sister’s happiness, which he attributes to his ability to get Khushi back into the house using money because he only knows the language of money.

So my problem isn’t much with him… it’s with Khushi’s inaction. This is one of my least favourite scenes in the show because once Khushi stops (mostly) retaliating to Arnav from this point - she never really retaliates ever again. It’s like they kill that intellectual and mature aspect of Khushi who really knew how to debate (ah, don’t I love the resignation scene and her moment with Lavanya, Sim & Pam in the office).

Of course, Arnav and Khushi argue bucket lots in the future but from this moment on they really amp up Khushi’s silent crying and reduce her logical arguments to her emotions. Hence, if there’s anything I would have changed then I would always give Khushi the final word - the logical final word because who doesn’t like a solid rebuttal.

Quick note; Arnav does amend from saying “women like you” to “people like you”. So there’s a shift from his belief of her being a gold digger (and hence, lack of character) to a middle class greedy person (like his uncle).

Head-canon:

I believe she doesn’t give Arnav a chance to gloat that he got her back with his money. Hence, the following exchange takes place in my head…

Arnav: “Mujhe pata tha tum paise ke liye kuch bhi karogi.”

Khushi: “Hum aap se ek baat kahe? Aap ghalat hai.”

Arnav: “No, main tum jaiso ko achi tarah se jaanta hai.”

Khushi: “Haan, shayad aap hum jaiso ko jaante hai. Par humein nahi. Aur rahi baat humara yaha aake kaam karne ka, toh humein nahi lagta ki humein kisi ko bhi safai deni ki zaroorat hai. Khaas kar ki aapko.”

Arnav: “I knew you’d do anything for money,”

Khushi: “You know what? You’re wrong.”

Arnav: “I’m not. I know people like you.”

Khushi: “You may know people like me, but not me. And as far as me choosing to work here, I don’t find it necessary to give anyone any explanation. Especially you.”

Public Service Announcement/Crazy thought:

#3 “Di isse sorry bolne ki koi zaruri nahi hai. Yeh aapki naukar hai.” (S3, E1/E2)

“Di you don’t have to apologise to her. She’s your servant.”

First Reaction: Oh no you didn’t… you didn’t!

What’s wrong with it:

I think it gets on my nerves how rude he is and that he constantly measures her to her financial and societal status. And all of this is because she pranked him. Like she literally put sugar crystals in his petrol tank, changed his phone ringtone to a silly item number and put juice in his shoes. And he responds to that with some pretty damaging words. He literally tells her that lying and cheating is in her blood.

Yikes! Flashback time Arnav - when she just alluded how he would feel if his sister’s marriage broke he tore her strings, and he legit just insulted her parents. All because she played some childish pranks.

I have to say Khushi does put up a good fight, for most of it, and I love Anjali trying her best to intervene but yes… the way Arnav just flares up here - he crosses quite a few lines (hence I am not at all sorry when Khushi flings the hot tea on him, sorry I’m a sadist). I think his continuous push to show his authority, superiority over her is not really healthy.

And that last Rabba Ve (although the tune is beautiful) which is evoked by her tears, and previously evoked by the impressions of his fingers around her wrist, gives a very wrong message to the public.

Track Rewrite:

I never, ever want to change their essential characteristic. I’m pretty satisfied when he’s literally burned after he’s burned her with his words. Karma always gets him...

But, I really wouldn’t mind a strong, confident, and angry “ENOUGH” from Khushi as well. Or even a quiet, deadly, whisper of an “enough” that would stop his nonsensical tirade. It’s important for him to know when he’s crossed the line, before Khushi starts crying.

Really, it wouldn’t hurt if he was taken aback by her burst of anger or the threat of anger instead of tears (remember the Guesthouse incident… he was turned on by her fury, and then he simmered down and felt guilty - that’s a good cycle to follow when there’s an argument. No, not always the turn on side but the ability to give both the parties anger).

Because of late there seems to be an obsession of male heroes getting the ability to insult their “soulmates” and then stopping because of her tears and then never following it up with an apology. There’s a lot of context in the case of Arnav and Khushi… but I always relish when he’s flabbergasted and silenced by her retaliated anger more than anything else (cue, the resignation scene again).

Head-canon:

Arnav: “Di you don’t have to apologise to her, she’s your servant-”

Khushi: “-enough.” / or / “ENOUGH!”

Arnav and Anjali stand, silenced by Khushi’s anger.

Khushi (to Arnav): “Do yourself and your status a favour. Don’t open your mouth. Especially in front of me. I may fall before your eyes, but you dig yourself a grave.”

Khushi walks away, leaving Arnav stunned.

Khushi (to Arnav): “Aap apne aap aur apne aukaad pe ek ehsaan kijiye. Apna muh mat kholiye. Khaas karke humare saamne. Shayad hum aapke nazro main gir jaate hai, par aap toh khai khodke apne aap ko giraate hai.”

Khushi walks away, leaving Arnav stunned.

Too harsh? Too unlike Khushi? Sorry, I’ve been watching that scene on repeat way too many times and I may have vented out a bit - it gets crazier when I list out Khushi’s antics!

Public Service Announcement:

Don’t break laptops or play pranks on people who might explode on you. Also, don’t waste mango juice on pranks - it’s delicious consumed. Probably that’s why Arnav was angry - one, he cannot drink mango juice due to his diabetes, and two, she wasted it on shoes!

#4 “Mere liye uss baat ki, ya tumhari, koi ehmiyat nahi hai.” (S3, E40)

“For me, that [the almost kiss], or you, don’t mean a thing to me.”

First Reaction: YES THAT’S WHY YOU KEEP ON THINKING ABOUT IT! LIKE OF COURSE BABUA ALWAYS SAYS THE TRUTH AND SAYS THE THINGS HE MEANS. LIKE OF COURSE YOU DID NOT INITIATE THE KISS OR PRESERVE HER ANKLET IN THE KHUSHI SHRINE OF YOURS! What the fu-dge Babua, literally?

What’s wrong with it:

Actually nothing. I just want to mentally slap him, that’s it. This needs to happen. Because honestly at this point of their relationship if this hadn’t happened - if they had kissed, chosen to break up with their partners (more like Khushi absolutely refusing to get engaged and even end up giving an ultimatum to her family) - then they would technically end up together and the most unhealthy point of their relationship.

Arnav is not at all ready for marriage but he would say yes because it’s the only way Khushi would be with him? Khushi, although in love with Arnav, still really has no actual reach to his depth and emotions.

And really all her fantasies of Arnav are really fantasies, she loves him for what he evokes in her more than what he truly is. He is unable to get her out of his system. It would be a bad place to begin a relationship.

So although nothing is wrong with this scene and it’s like a bitter pill that needs to be swallowed, I still want to say he crossed a line by reinstating that she means nothing to him even though he led her on the entire foreplay of a Diwali. And like… wow, he’s asking what he means to her after he just declared that he’s going to get engaged to his longtime girlfriend who is also now Khushi’s closest friend? Like why… why would Khushi tell you what you mean to her?

Track Rewrite:

I would rewrite Buaji’s pressure on Khushi. It’s regressive, painful and terrible to watch. I know it’s necessary… and if not rewrite this scene then I would just add a scene in the future where Buaji truly apologises for ruining her dearest Sanka Devi’s life. She owed this at least and it would be nice to see elders recognize their own mistakes at times.

Head-canon:

Lavanya is in a happy relationship with NK <3.

Public Service Announcement:

#5 “I hope tumhe koi farak nahi padta.” (S4, E8 - S4, E14)

“I hope it means nothing to you / I hope it doesn’t affect you / I hope it doesn’t make a difference to you.” It = me, Arnav, our relationship (or whatever it is).

First Reaction: wherefore art thou asking questions yond thee cannot answ'r?

What’s wrong with it:

This is where Arnav’s moralities really turn grey. Over here any affection, concern or committment to Lavanya is literally forgotten. Almost possessed, Arnav has three goals;

(1) Make Khushi admit what he himself cannot admit - that he, them, everything matters to her (2) Prove to Khushi she won’t find a better match than him, that he’s her equal and he’s the only one who can provide for her and give her everything she desires (3) Make her breakup with her undesirable and unworthy fiance (he hasn’t met him but he just knows that her fiance does not deserve Khushi and I have to agree with Arnav, he’s right) and probably end up getting engaged with him.

The epic part of the Raizada plan is - he doesn’t have an idea what would happen if Khushi actually gives a farak. It’s not that Arnav is right or justified, he just stands the way he has always been - in all his fifty thousands shades of grey (not I’m not a fan of that book, pleej no).

Track Rewrite:

A bit more time for Arnav, Lavanya, his apology and their break up. I love it that he does it instantly, but I also wish he spent more time talking to Lavanya. Just some more Arnav/Lavanya scenes, we really never got to see more of their friendship and her understanding.

As far as everything else, Khushi’s inner battles and silence is really amazing - it’s what gives her dignity and it’s her self preservation. Arnav is redeemed by the fact that he genuinely is Khushi’s soulmate and he can feel her distress and is the only one who accurately senses that Khushi might have been pressured to agree to this marriage. Who knows Khushi cannot live in a loveless marriage. It’s something he can now guarantee, after a whirlwind of denial.

Although his actions are dubious, he’s the only one who senses the lack of joy and passion. So, rather terribly, he tries to put it across that he can fulfill her needs.

This comes to a halt when Payal refuses Akash in the first proposal. It sheds light on his earlier mistake and he realises that he has been wrong about Khushi all along (so he does not bring up her financial/societal status in insults post the event because Khushi really did end up in fashion show by mistake and more than that - her sister’s marriage did break because of him - not until the hate marriage).

And he realises his error with Lavanya that brings him out of this “I need to possess Khushi” phase.

So I liked that we saw the ugliest side of their love, the irrational jealousy and demand of possession. And I love that Khushi did not budge in, no matter how much it hurt.

Head-canon:

Lavanya knew all about it. Hence, she never holds Khushi responsible and instead guides Arnav to making better decisions.

Also, Khushi went through a similar, crazed phase. Except we never see it because Khushi grows increasingly quiet when her heart is suffering. She uses words to express and choses silence when she does not want to acknowledge.

Public Service Announcement:

Remember, it’s a good thing that they show us the unhealthy and healthy phase of a relationship between two people who love each other. This phase was decidedly toxic between Arnav and Khushi - when love is jealous, causes pain, is insensitive, is madness - see the signs and don’t go in deep when it’s at this phase. Every love has its time to mature and grow. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

So apparently Volume 3 ruined RWBY...

Personally I would have said Voluymes 1 and 2 since they’re the most painful to get through to actually get into the series. But that’s actually the least of this video’s issues.

1. His points about Volume 4+’s character focuses...don’t make sense.

No seriously, this isn’t me being fallicious and hyperbolic aside from the point about Ren and Nora (And even that has issues.)

He complains that we already know everything about Weiss and her family...but all we really know is Jacques is greedy, is abusive and Winter escaped. We don’t actually see what Jacques is like and what kind of personality she has nor what Weiss is like around her father. Things like Jacques using specific words to get what he wants (subtly pressuring Weiss to get him good PR ad dance around his shitty business practices) and Weiss’ attitude around her father being so meek and emotional helps flesh out her character and creates a stronger bond with the audience. So yeah, we didn’t actually know everything.

...Which is confusing because a latter point about him trying to justify saying Weiss wasn’t set up to have an arc in this Volume by saying, and I quote, “Weiss was taken home by her father but we didn’t know what that means” despite any knowledge of her family would indicate she’d have to deal with her father’s oppression. So in the same video, we’re suppose to simultaneously know everything about Weiss and her family...and know nothing about her family because that would indicate what was gonna happen with Weiss post Volume 3.

... Do I even need to point out how contradictory this is?

This isn’t an isolated incident in the video either. His point about Blake boils down to “The fandom assumed she was going after the WF but she instead ran to her family for no reason, a family we never thought she had.” Issue here is that: he’s judging this not by what the show does but what the FANDOM does. And the fandom is notorious for having crackpot theories (see: any Jaune theory) and he never mentions anything about what the show was doing.

Or what about what he said in regards to Yang ‘effectively getting over her PTSD in Episode 4...because she put on her replacement arm, despite the fact that the show indicated that was only a ‘first step’ deal (with how Taiyang said ‘Now let’s begin’, or how Yang was previously portrayed as avoiding her issues nut dealing with them.) So...why would he think that?

Then we have how he says that Nora and Ren got character development ‘just because’, ignoring how the Volume was dealing with loss and coping from loss so having a small representation of that conflict (like say, a tramuatic past?) would be perfectly fitting, especially since they got focus early into Volume 4.

All of this...somehow fits into the overall idea that Volume 4 isn’t a continuation of Volume 3...even though it relies on a very specific mindset, interpretation and acknowledgement of events. This isn’t even talking about how he glosses over Jaune’s angst over Pyrrha, Ruby’s subtle sadness and the culmination of that in the Kuroyuri episode.

... Yeah I don’t get it either. This is either immensely lazy on his part to not do any research or immensely dishonest by just pandering to what his established audience wants to hear. Because this is a giant mistake beyond simple incompetence.

2. He says Volume 4 is considered a soft reboot. ... I dunno why.

A soft reboot effectively means a continuation of the original continuity but with alterations to established formula that makes it effectively a different entity.

Now some of what I said does fit here with the traveling aspect, the new animation and so on as Adel says...but the thing is, when you compare this to other soft reboots it...doesn’t feel right.

Unlike stuff like Pokemon Black and White, X-Men First Class and JoJo part 4+ (depends on your view of a soft reboot): Volumes 4+ have a heavy connection to Volumes 1-3 while the other examples only have tangential connections. You don’t need to know much beyond basics for soft reboots. With RWBY Volume4+, you NEED to know the specifics of Volume 1-3. And that one aspect of having a tangential connection instead of a very solid one is what defines a soft reboot as a reboot. WIthout that it’s just...changes in a show.

I don’t know why he would characterize Volumes 4+ as a soft reboot with such aspects when you still need to know everything about Volumes 1-3. Aside from massive incomptence or banking on the stigma soft reboots have.

3. Volume 4 is not rebooted nor is it filler.

I’m not even gonna bother being in depth here.

You wouldn’t care about Ruby and co. making it to Mistral if you didn’t know the specifics of Volume 4.

You wouldn’t care about Weiss being captured or reuniting with the rest of her team without Volume 4.

You wouldn’t know a damn thing about why Yang gives a shit about Raven or why she’s acting so differently without Volumes 1-4

You wouldn’t care about Cinder or understand how she got here if not for Volume 4.

Oscar....makes no sense without Volume 4.

This is just a stupid point through and through. This can’t even be covered by incomptence or laziness because the average RWBY fan could tell you this. I can only assume Adel is playing to his audience’s biases at this point, the same way CNN and Fox News do for their audiences: fend them what they want to hear, reality be damned.

4. God damn it, it’s the same point as before!

Yeah, he claims Volume 6 is SOMEHOW still a continuation/soft reboot of Volume 3. Ignoring how you need to know about the Relic, Illa, Sun, Raven and Yang, Ruby’s Silver eyes and Weiss’ past to understand this series which requires literally every other Volume made.

The Salem and Ozpin thing alongside a giant Grimm and Silver eyes are not enough to constitute being a ripoff/continuation/soft reboot of Volume 3. They’re just questions being answered or fleshing out aspects of what was introduced before (which doesn’t HAPPEN in soft reboots). Having somewhat similar ideas,

This gets even dumber when you consider what he says about the Ozpin and Salem thing. He says it’s a rehash of the Maidens that was rehashed with the Brother’s Myth. Here’s the thing:

Ozpin and Salem’s backstory is DIRECTLY related to those two stories. You can’t rehash something when it is a CONTINUATION. To rehash something it needs to be treated as completely new BY DEFINITION ( put (old ideas or material) into a new form without significant change or improvement. ) Same goes for the Maiden story and the Brothers: the Maidens were a fable about four women helping an old man who gave them powers and the Brothers is about two gods and how they created Remnant. They’re too different to be a rehash of the other. None of thus fits the requirements for a rehash because it’s either not a new form but rather an old form given more context (Ozpin and Salem) or barely connect because ‘magic’ (The Brothers).

He just keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper, leaving me less room to give any benefit of the doubt. I am a guy who knows what reusing an idea is, my favorite anime studio (Trigger) has been reusing the same central idea (story of defiance and determination being defied usually using transformations and coming of age stories) since 1988 as Gainax. But this? This is not a rehash. Just a simple expansion with the occasional reuse of an idea (the giant Grimm)

5. If it is a soft reboot/rip off/rehash... Then Volume 3 did not start this.

His main points about Volumes 4-6 being rehashes are finally focused on the climax with it effectively being ‘giant climatic confrontation between bad guys and good guys, usually involving Adam/the WF and Grimm.”

Sound familiar?

It should, I JUST described the climaxes of Volume 1 and 2 combined. More so Volume 2 but elements of the big climatic showdown between bad guys and the WF being used as set up started with Torchwick and the WF in Black and White. Yeah, there are differences in the climaxes (with Torchwick and the WF not having Adam and the Breach not having the bad guys work directly against the good guys in the finale) but the same can be said of Volumes 4+ so it clearly doesn’t matter to Adel.

Which begs the question: why wouldn’t he see this? Either he never thought of it (unlikely)...or he’d need to shit on Volumes 1 and 2 and that wouldn’t go over as well.

Overall, this whole thing reeks of dishonesty. Elements are either misinterpreted or removed altogether, vague paralells are drawn and called deliberate, basic mistakes in understanding storytelling are made, things are inconsistent as hell ect. It just feels like I’m watching CNN or Fox News tell me all about how the other is shit because they say so: no substance, no evidence, not even effort. Just dishonesty.

Natural Instinct - Chapter 6 (Poe Dameron/Reader Fic)

SUMMARY: Reader and Poe have finally made it to home base in Cratertown, and though there are a few more hiccups to handle, it's nothing the best pilot in the Resistance can't handle.

WARNINGS: Some strong language

PAIRING: Poe/Reader (Not much romantic loving in this chapter. I will make it up post-haste.)

A/N: Is it Thursday yet? I am DYING to see The Last Jedi. The early reviews for it have been so positive, some calling it the best Star Wars movie to date, at least since Empire Strikes Back. I just need to see my poor children again!! Oh, and a little trivia for my true Star Wars nerds, Ergel, the Bartender, is a real character in the universe. He appears in the Aftermath novels.

6 – Cratertown

Cratertown was, in and of itself, no more than a trading post, Ergel’s bar, and a stable for luggabeasts. Most of the inhabitants lived on the outskirts of town in their own outposts with their own various skills, some of them even attempting to work from their homes. But the majority were miners, scavengers and delivery workers, servicing different settlements with pricey supplies and a commission strictly adhered to by whatever greedy boss they worked for. Ergel was probably the only businessman I knew who wasn’t out to stomp upon the lesser for a spot in Jakku’s meager hierarchy. And so, he was the first person Poe and I ran to when we finally drug our exhausted, sunburnt bodies into town.

“Ergel!” I shouted over the din of the bar.

I had ordered Poe to stay outside, underneath the southern overhang that would be mostly shadowed and surely uninhabited during this time of day. Bars, no matter how shack-like and dingy they were, attracted any type of species and personality; even First Order sympathizers.

Luckily, almost everyone was hard at work, trying to keep themselves and their families as well fed and alive as possible. The bar was practically empty. I saw two faces I didn’t recognize sitting at the far-left corner, a Melitto and another human, but they didn’t appear to be interested in my sudden appearance.

Ergel waved me over, polishing a stack of cans and stacking them on top of each other as if to see how tall of a structure he could make before it fell. Poor guy was probably bored out of his mind.

“You’re back,” he said when I reached the counter, its surface being pieces of junk metal sautered together, the linked ridges still coarse even after so much use. “Find anything that might catch a nice meal? Maybe even a credit?”

He still thought I was returning from my mining endeavor near Tuanul. For force sakes, so much had happened in so little time, I almost forgot the reason why I left my tiny Jakku settlement in the first place.

“No,” I said, and he made a grunt of sympathy. “Listen, I need your help.”

“I’m a bartender, (Y/N); I don’t know the first thing about mining.”

“This isn’t about mining.”

I leaned over the counter conspiratorially, and watched as the small space between Ergel’s bushy white eyebrows crinkled.

“This is important, Ergel,” I said, lowering the tone of my voice. “There’s some deep shit behind me, and you’re the only person on this force-forsaken planet I have left to trust.”

“What in sandstorm’s name is going on, (Y/N)?”

“First,” I held up a finger close to his face, so close that his nearly white eyes started to go cross from looking at it. “I need you to promise me you won’t say a word, not to anyone.”

I must have let the seriousness of the situation show, because he nodded mutely.

“Back door,” I gestured to the direction with my head.

“Back in a moment, gentleman,” Ergel called out to the Melitto and his companion.

Around the long island with the metal frame, I followed him, through a short hallway where he kept his stores of liquor and Knockback—which was basically blended algae scraped off rocks from the south—and then outside an old wooden door. Poe was sitting on the other side, looking eternally grateful for the respite, his rugged jawline tilted up into the shadow of the overhang. He looked up at Ergel and me when we stepped through the door, the bartender closing it behind him.

“Ergel,” I said, “This is Poe Dameron; Resistance Pilot.”

Ergel looked back and forth between the two of us, his expression growing more and more concerned. “Resistance? Kriffing hell, (Y/N), I told you to avoid Tuanul! Why would you get mixed up in a war we have nothing to do with?”

“It wasn’t by choice,” I said, swallowing heavily when I felt Poe stand near, his chest just grazing my shoulder. “But that doesn’t matter now. We escaped from the First Order, and they probably followed our crash-sight, and anyway they’re probably looking for us and a droid that holds a very, very important map…”

“Have you seen a droid around here by chance?” Poe intervened. “He’s a BB-series astromech, orange and white, a bit of a know-it-all sometimes but sweet as can be.”

“Son,” Ergel held out a hand. “All of that just went straight over my head. We don’t do all that fancy stuff around here; here, a droid is a droid, although you can usually tell a good one from the next. And I’m sorry, but no,” I heard Poe sigh in defeat over my shoulder. “I’d have heard if there stumbled in something that special into town. I tend a bar; folks love to talk to bartenders.”

“I figure it’s likely he was picked up and taken to Niima,” I said. “But we absolutely need to get him before the First Order does.”

“You serious about this, (Y/N)?” Ergel asked, staring me point-blank in the eyes.

I nodded. I was sure; I was going to help Poe get back to the Resistance with his droid if it killed me. Ren had been right about a few things, one especially being that when I stepped forward for Poe in Tuanul, I was involved, whether I liked it or not. And in the last few days, I had grown to respect the pilot as much as I had ever respected anyone, including my late father.

“Alright then,” Ergel said, rolling his shoulders back, his old spine popping with the motion. “What can I do to help?”

“Keep Poe upstairs in the guestroom. I’m going to head to my outpost and hopefully get my speeder running.”

“Shoot,” Ergel ran a burly, tanned hand through his cropped hair, looking off as if to grab the rest of his words from thin air. “I forgot to tell you, with the way you ran into the bar…”

“I have a bad feeling about this,” I said amidst his slow, stumbling sentence.

“I visited your outpost while you were gone to make sure everything was still untouched. You don’t have much, I know, but someone found the speeder hiding beneath the pile of scraps and canvas. Didn’t steal the whole thing—probably couldn’t get it running—but they emptied the fuel tank and took the carburetor.”

“You’ve got to be shitting me,” I groaned.

Poe was, surprisingly, less ill-set with the news. “Do you have a mechanic stationed here?”

“Sort of. Goes by the name of Bowdlen; he does alright. His labor isn’t cheap though. Has to make a living of some sort, and mostly gets his business from the occasional passerby needing a tune-up or sending parts through merchants coming from Niima.”

Poe flashed me a grin. “I think we’ll be alright.”

“Why? You a mechanic?”

“If something is made of bolts, gas, and metal, it’s practically putty in my hands.”

Turns out, Poe had enough credits stuffed in his sock to cover what was required. I was given the grand duty of returning to my outpost to push my shabby speeder to Bowlden’s, who was able to canvas his hoard of miscellaneous parts and find what we needed. Poe remained upstairs at Ergel’s and Ergel continued to run his bar, filing patrons in and out while a First Order fugitive hid above their heads. My poor speeder hovered—not quite straight—in the air as I pushed it forward across the open expanse of the settlement, a tank of oil and a couple of clinking, mechanical bits in the parachute bag I kept draped across my shoulder. Time was wasting, and although I didn’t know how long it would take to get the machine running, I figured Poe would get it done faster than anyone else.

Checking for onlookers—and finding none in sight—I wrapped my way around Ergel’s, my arms aching from pushing the blasted metal beast from one outskirt of town to the other. It still hovered, which was a relief, but it sure hadn’t offered any momentum. Poe was waiting on the other side of the backdoor, the shadow of the overhang continuing to stretch outward as the sun began another descent.

“Damn,” was the first thing he said, cocking his head at the speeder. “She’s… a mess.”

“I’m not adept at maintenance.”

“I can tell,” he joked.

I sat against the back wall for hours after, watching Poe tinker with what little he had to work with. Ergel had the most basic set of tools hiding in a box beneath his bar, but Poe had insisted they would work fine. He was proving himself right. He hadn’t tried to start the thing yet, and I couldn’t tell improvement from potential disaster, but the confident way in which he worked told me he was getting the job done. There was no swearing, no jarring, confused motions in his hands. Everything he did was precise and—dare I say—loving, as if this was just another day on the job and there was nothing he would rather be doing.

“I can teach you how to do all this, someday.” He said, out of the blue.

I had been dozing, my head lolling against the side of the building, and his voice sent surprised jolts through my whole body.

“Sorry,” I said, blinking reality back into focus. “What did you say?”

“I can teach you how to fix these types of things; speeders, ships, X-Wings especially. You might even be able to tune up BB-8 when he needs it.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean I’ll teach you. Y’know, when we get back.”

He stopped for a minute, wiping down his hands with an already dirty cloth. His shirt clung to him where sweat stains seeped through, and holy hell… I never thought sweat could be so sexy. I realized I was gawking for a second or two too long when I looked up and saw Poe regarding me, almost curious.

“We?” I said, feeling stupid enough as it was. “Are you… are you inviting me to go with you? To the Resistance?”

“Sounds like it,” he quirked a smile, obviously finding my hesitation amusing.

“Stop it,” I said.

“Stop what?”

“Stop making light of it. I want to know if you’re serious.”

“I’m dead serious,” he said, dropping the cloth and taking a few steps toward me. “You said you didn’t want to leave Jakku for fear that you would have nowhere to go, that others might find you and harm you in a galaxy you know little about. It may sound surprising, but you’ll be safe at base, safer than you’d be anywhere else in the galaxy.”

“I don’t just want to be safe, Poe,” I said, rubbing grains of sand between my fingers. “I want to have a purpose, to feel like I add something. What can I add to your Resistance?”

“Plenty.”

“Like what? Give me one example.”

“Survival,” he said, without hesitation. “A lot of our members don’t have the type of experience you do. They haven’t navigated climates, and they certainly wouldn’t be able to survive on the landscape and a couple, meager supplies like you can. You can teach them to be better equipped to handle whatever is thrown at them.”

When I didn’t respond at first, he knelt in front of me. “You act on instinct, even if you regret it in hindsight, but good instincts are what every fighter needs. You were thrown from the only world you’ve ever known into a jail cell within an hour, and you held your own, taking every moment a step at a time and even taking care of me. It takes months of conditioning for most of our members to learn how to cope with capture and torture. But you have that natural grit, that instinct that is so well-ingrained in you. You are a damned poster girl for the Resistance, (Y/N).”

Instinct. Instinct was what told me to scoot forward until I was hugging him, head tucked underneath his chin, nose pressed against his collarbone. Instinct brought tears to my eyes, when in other times I would have been too ashamed to let them fall. Instinct was what made me tell him yes, that I had nothing left on Jakku and that somehow, in some weird twist of fate, I felt like I had found something with him and his fight. And I wasn’t going to let myself lose that, not when instinct led me to find it in the first place.

Okay, this is the second time i've asked a question in the last two days but this forum is really interesting and gets me thinking. While I was at University, I was driving innocently along when I realized I didn't have my lights on. At that PRECISE MOMENT, I saw blue flashing lights behind me and the police pulled me over. He asked ''Do you know why I pulled you over?'' and I said 'Yes sorry! I didn't have my lights on''. He then proceeded to put me in the back of his police car and ask me questions such as name, address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, height, weight etc.. which I believed to be innocent questions.. but then the questions kept going down a quite frankly rediculous route and he asked me ''hair colour, eye colour, what are you wearing?, where are you going? why are you going there? etc etc and I started to wonder if he was taking the mick. Then after all that he asked for my car insurance documentation and driving lisence and I said I didn't have any on me except my lisence. He looked at my lisence, wrote down some information and gave it back to me. He then said ''do you realize it is an offence not to carry your car insurance documents with you when asked to produce them at the roadside?''. Again I apologized and said that I had no idea that this was the case. He then gave me five days to produce my photo and counterpart driving lisence and car insurance documents at the local police station or I would be arrested for failing to produce documents on demand. He then asked me to provide a testimony which would be read in court if I didn't produce the documents and so I said ''I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience''. He then let me out. Suffice to say, the next day I took my documents to the police station for inspection. Is this standard proceedure?""

NEVADA

18 Feb 2018 (Sun) – We spent a good part of the day packing up, cleaning, and getting ready to move on. We got propane and filled the gas tank. At 4:30 p.m. we went over Joan & Peter’s for dinner and Rummykub. It was a fun night.

17 Feb 2018 (Sat) – We went over Adam & Diane’s to say good bye. They invited us to stay and enjoy a corn chowder that Diane made. It was delicious!

16 Feb 2018 (Fri) – Bonnie is still suffering diarrhea. I called the vet and they put her on an antibiotic. I hope it helps.

Paul and I sat down and mapped out the route from here to Minnesota for our caravan in Minnesota in July. We’ll knock around California for a little more than a month, return to Las Vegas so Paul can have a colonoscopy done, then drive through Utah to the national parks we’ll be going to during our caravan in 2019. We especially want to drive Route 12 to see how steep it is. Tourist brochures tout the beauty of the drive but some comments make it sound like it might be a little too scary for some folks. We’ll see.

15 Feb 2018 (Thu) – The truck was done. They replaced the radiator, hoses, and connectors and repaired some other leaks in the engine. All to the tune of $4,000. Ouch!

We met Joan & Peter at the Venetian Casino tonight. We walked around the canal shoppes, watched an Italian opera sung by costumed performers in Red Square, and had dinner at an Italian restaurant. Red Square is made up to look like an outdoor square. The ceiling is painted blue with white clouds. All the store fronts look like outside entrances. Even the restaurant we ate at was more like an outdoor patio. The food was excellent.

After dinner, we went to the Sands Theater to watch Jukebox by Human Nature. I started smiling when the group first arrived on stage and didn’t stop until they left an hour and a half later. The show was phenomenal! The music was great, the singers grew more energetic as the show progressed, and the crowd was boisterous. My hands were sore from all the clapping. We had a really great time. Afterward, we tried our hand at gambling but won nothing.

12 Feb 2018 (Mon) – We went to dinner last night with Adam, Diane, Devin, Joan, and Peter at Viva Zapatas Mexican Restaurant. Everything was very good.

Paul dropped the truck off this morning at the Ford dealership. We noticed that there have been small drops of antifreeze fluid under the truck. Paul figured there was a tiny hole in the radiator and it required a little solder to repair it. No such luck. After looking things over, the mechanic said the radiator and a couple of hoses had to be replaced. It will cost over $3,000. Ouch! He had to leave the truck and got a loaner. It will take a day or two to get all the parts. And I managed to just about pay off the damn credit card.

9 Feb 2018 (Fri) – We brought the RV to Firestone to get new tires put on. After dropping the trailer off, we drove around town tending to errands – the post office, the bank, the pharmacy. We returned to the shop at noon to find the mechanic at lunch. He had already replaced three of the five tires so we sat and waited for him to return and finish. While waiting, I bought four tickets to a show to take Joan to on her birthday.

We returned to the campground and got ourselves set back up again. We drove to Joan & Peter’s at 5:30 p.m. We then drove to an Italian restaurant where we met their friends for dinner. The meal was quite good.

4 February 2018 (Sun) – It‘s been relatively quiet this weekend. I guess the exercise is over; or they are just taking the weekend off. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

We thought we would go to the Las Vegas Museum of Natural History today. When we drove over there, the place was closed. It was closed despite the fact that the website said they are open daily from 9 to 4:30 every day except Easter and Christmas. Liars! Furthermore, we realized that we have been there before. Oh, well.

We then drove to a nearby theater and saw “Darkest Hour.” It was ten times better than “Shape of Water.” The film seemed to paint Winston Churchill as a cantankerous drunk at first, but he rallied in the end and became the national hero we have all come to know through historical documentaries. It was a very uplifting and enjoyable movie.

1 Feb 2018 (Thu) - We had to change campsites today. There is a camper coming in who will be staying six months and has reserved our spot. We reported to the office, paid for the next week, then were escorted to our new campsite. It is horrible! There are no mature trees (some pines have been planted but it will be years before they grow tall enough to offer significant shade), the site is not long enough to fit the truck and trailer, the sites are so close together that there is no room to put out chairs. This is in the newly created area where the base has added about 50 new sites, doubling their capacity. But somebody got greedy. They put too many campsites in and didn’t leave enough room between them or in their length. The contractor is definitely a non-RVer. Also the sewer hookups are too high. They’ll have to cut down the pipes at some point.

Once we got situated, we did the laundry. One of the advantages of being on an air base is the free shows we get every day. The jets start taking off at around 7 a.m. and return around 4 p.m. They come in flying in pairs and then peel off to make their landings. The base has been running a big military exercise with the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. On Tuesday they came flying back in from the desert in groups of 3 and 4. There were so many aircraft that they were coming in for over an hour. One of the Australian planes crashed on take-off on Monday but no one was hurt. Otherwise, the exercise seems to be going off without a hitch. Part of their training is flying with no instruments. They have been jamming signals. Unfortunately, all us folks in the area as affected by it. We haven’t been able to get WiFi or cell phone service.

Last night, we went with Joan and Peter to the Blue Ribbon Restaurant in the Cosmopolitan Casino. The son of a friend of ours back home, Jan, works as a chef at the Blue Ribbon. We had their signature dish – fried chicken. It was delicious. After dinner, we walked to the chandelier bar. It was a small bar area with thousands of strands of “crystals” surrounding the area making it look like you are inside a chandelier. It was wild! When we were done with our digestifs, we went into the casino and made our obligatory donations. No one was lucky.

26 Jan 2018 (Sat) – Things have been pretty mundane. We hang out around the campground, go grocery shopping, toodle around the PX, take the dog to the dog park, and watch the cat play around the camper. We are chomping at the bit to be back on the road. Paul’s doctor appointment can’t come soon enough!

We went to a Chinese Lantern Festival this evening with Joan, Peter, and Devin. It was set up in a large park surrounding a lake. The figures were covered by a light, see-through gauze with lights on the inside of the figures. It made them appear to glow. Along with the brilliant colors and fanciful creatures, it had a very Disney-like feel to it. We walked around the park for almost two hours. There was also a show by Chinese performers. It was very enjoyable! Three young men juggled bowling pin type objects and dived through hoops in a feat of fine acrobatic precision. A young woman did a dance of changing faces. Another young woman did contortions that hurt just to watch. Ouch! Two young women flipped around Chinese tops. All of them were very, very talented and entertaining.

After the festival, we drove down the road and had dinner at Famous Dave’s BBQ. The ribs were excellent.

21 Jan 2018 (Sun) – I am back from New York! The weather there was brutal. I arrived just as an historic storm was hitting the area. Sam had picked me up a winter coat, socks, and a sweatshirt. I was SO glad to have them! There was a litany of doctors and tests but the end result is that my cancer is still inactive. I think I have been experiencing some anxiety because I have been having some palpitations. The cardiologist thinks it is nothing but scheduled me for a follow up in June. If there is nothing wrong, why do I have to go back to him? Hmmmmm.

My flight back to Las Vegas was basically uneventful. The weather here in Vegas is cool but warmer than New York. Remarkably, I have to re-educate myself where things are. It feels like I have been gone much longer than three weeks because I have forgotten where things are. Weird.

THE DAILY GRIND… ARE WE THERE YET?

Saturday, 16 Dec. 2017. Kinda grey day, all day and cool. A regular kind of day, for me... painting, exercise, smoking pot, drinking coffee and eggnog, watching TV. Got a lot of painting done.

I went to bed by 10pm and wuz up at 8am. I find old age, and my pain meds make me need more sleep... about 8-9 hours a day, now, and I'm quite tired by the end of the day. I don't like that one bit. Oh well, I always expected old age to totally suck and it does.

I was always a nighthawk kind of person, one who stayed up late and, often, slept late but rarely longer than 8 hours. I'm trying to learn to 'go with the flow' and accept the limitations old age is placing upon me. I don't like being old but have no choice about the matter.

This morning I was thinking about Labour Unions. They are one of those damned if you do and damned if you don't kind of things. I don't like labour unions, at all. The, very, very, very, very rapidly become greedy, self-interested groups who don't give a flying fuck about anyone outside the union. You can starve on the street, have a mouth full of rotten teeth, have scurvy and lesions all over your body, and the union members don't give a crap because they've got theirs and you can go fuck yourself.

Labour Unions constantly raise the cost of living because the poor dears can't exist on two to five times the wages of the non-union folks. Now, I don't blame the unions, entirely. We would never advance safety or working conditions without them... government can't be counted on to be of any help, at all. Government doesn't make changes until politicians fear to lose their jobs. That's a terrible irony because it should be the government that is setting working standards and ENFORCING them, including minimum wages for certain kinds of jobs. I can't imagine why a person with no education should be making four to five times the minimum wage for no other reason than they belong to a strong union working in a mass volume high priced product.

I may sound like a socialist and, to some extent, I am socialist minded. I believe in a legal minimum wage that a person can live upon, and decent working conditions for workers, reasonable hours, vacations, etc. A business that is successful, or makes the owner(s) wealthy by exploiting the workers should, quite simply, not be allowed to exist, no matter how needed or useful it might be.

All workers should be protected and it should be government that establishes various trade and workgroups. For instance, you would not have a minimum wage sales job without belonging to a government run union. Would that raise the cost of things? Quite likely, but it would become part of the balancing formula... universal dental and health care for all. I don't believe doctors should be subject to government formulae for their incomes but, rather, incentives for good work would replace having to crank a certain number of patients through the office in order to achieve a desired income level.

Dentists and Doctors should all be public servants, well paid for good work and who receive their educations at government expense... no debt to carry forward after school. Bad doctors and bad dentists would lose the right to practice... as in forever.

Overpopulation and automation are going to put many, many, many people out of work in the very near future. Population control is becoming ever more necessary. In my world, people would require a license and school training in order to become parents. Parenting would become a privilege, not a right. We desperately need to reduce the population of the planet by several billion people... down to about 3 billion people, as quickly as possible.

I predict mass starvation and nuclear wars will take care of that problem in the very near future. I have said and will keep saying... I fully expect 3-4 billion people to die off in the next 50 years. I said it, I mean it. The horrors that are about to come will drastically change our planet.

The first step, after the nuclear wars, will be to make all religions on the planet illegal. Nothing causes more problems than religions... nothing, absolutely nothing. There is nothing more evil nor problem causing than religions.

6 Gradations Every Person Must Take To Successfully Move On From A Breakup

We is in conformity with our freshman dormitory and hit it off almost immediately.

She was so goddamn beautiful.

She had long blonde hair that collapsed off her shoulders in waves, large-scale, beautiful eyes that accommodated a soft and caring expres and this smile that lit up whichever area we happened to be in together.

As striking as her physical grace was, that wasnt what constructed her special to me.

I was addicted to her personality.

She has this acces with the world.

I cant truly explain it, but shes improbably magnetic.

People like being around her, and I required( involved) her to be mine.

Ill hop-skip the gory items, but we started dating mid-freshman year.

It was fireworks from the start.

Those fireworks popped and sparkled in my president every day for the next two years while I was around her.

She was magical.

Slowly, though, I think we both began to realize the fireworks had been blinding us from the underlying problems of our personalities.

We didnt communicate well, and we brushed bigger editions under the table.

Those big concerns evidenced themselves into insecurities within the relationship, and they turned into inessential contentions “thats been” easily avoidable.

I abruptly realized it had reached the point of no return.

Neither of us was happy.

There was a different gleam in her eyes.

The once soft and relentlessly caring seeings appeared more guarded and cold.

Im sure she saw the same event when she seemed back at me.

I cant speak for her, but I stopped cherishing her.

Long story short, we intent things.

In the months that followed, I fell down to incredibly dark places.

The world seemed a little less beautiful.

I was going through the healing process, and I ended I needed to take the time to look inward and start moving concepts happen for myself.

Here are five theatres of keep moving and making become that I went through.

I hope they can help someone else fight with sorrow TAGEND

1. Mourn.

The firstly nave notion I had after the breakup was I wasnt is expected to be upset.

Some machismo propaganda that had been tossed my road seemed to spread the relevant recommendations through my conscious that I was okay.

I didnt need her, and there was nothing to be sad about.

The world moves on.

Boy, was I wrong.

The more I stifled the fact that I missed her and that I was pathetic about the end of things, the worse it got.

It would come out when I booze and when I was alone, even if I was consciously trying to stop it.

Heartbreak is like ending a drug addiction, and you’re in the retirement stage.

My advice is to let yourself mourn the loss.

Be sad.

Dont let the passions build up to a hazardous point.

Think of curbing spirits like including air to a balloon thats already been inflated.

Eventually, its bound to pop.

Listen to some psychological music and be overdramatic about it.

The more you let your ardours come to the forefront, the more you will learn about yourself.

Oh, and cut off all contact with her.

You may think you can be friends, but you cant.

There is too much emotional baggage.

2. Recline on your support system.

Im going to be blunt here: No one actually demonstrates a f* ck about your heartbreak.

Really, its not a malicious thing.

People will be empathetic and empathize with you, but they dont truly care since they are dont genuinely understand.

They may understand the sorenes from a previous anguish of their own, but every tie-in is so unique in and of itself that the healing battle should be self-directed.

However , now is the time to truly figure out the people you can trust to lean on for this sort of stuff.

First, lean on your family.

They have been there for you as long as youve been alive, and they have a lot of knowledge with passion that they are willing to talk about.

I grew so much closer to my family in my mourning process because I was truly dedicated to fostering such relationships in my life that werent with her.

I found out a lot about my family and a lot about who my true-life acquaintances are.

They are all damn good people, and they had my back each step of the way.

Exercise with your best friend and family.

Go out to eat, get drunk with them and talk to them when you feel like you need to.

They may not truly understand, but theyll listen.

That makes all the difference.

3. Identify problem areas and focus inward.

Were you a greedy motherfucker during your relationship?

Were you insecure and jealous? Did you put yourself before her?

Whatever it is, illustration it out and work on improving it.

This is your time to fix the things about yourself that you arent proud of.

Start improving them.

Before you work on giving your nerve to someone else, focus inward.

The first step to solving a problem is identifying and admitting the fact you have one.

4. Take care of yourself.

Exercise, and sweat the negative sentiments out.

Set a fitness objective( a exalted one) and affected the gym, champ.

The iron and asphalt will be your brand-new lover for the time being.

Bedetermined to not f* ck this relationship up.

It is not simply will help you feel better( trust me ), but youll also have tangible results to depict for the progress of your recovery.

Youll take a look back at your initial exalted point and be appalled at how close you are to achieving it( if you haven’t already ).

5. Have fun.

Just because youre sad, that doesnt aim the whole world has disappeared( although it may seem like it has ).

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned throughout my process is while youre in your chamber love bad for yourself, “the worlds” remains on passing out there.

So mourn, but dont mope.

Explore. Eat good meat. Drink good beer.

Listen to good music. Get to concerts. Take a cook class.

Be a productive and contributing member in the world.

This is the time to reinvent yourself into whoever you want to be.

Make that reinvention awesome.

6. Make go.

Anger seems to be an automatic reaction to a breakup.

I think its natural to be angry at your ex in one way or another, but dont stay angry.

One of the most difficult steps of moving on is looking back at such relationships through a positive lens.

Dont regarded the breakup against her.

Remember the good times, and take the bad times as lessons.

You two undoubtedly had great times together.

They are eternally embedded in your identity, so remember how she taught you to love.

Its going to be tough to see her in the world without you by her side.

Youll certainly see it when she picks herself up and gets back out into the dating world.

Embrace it.

She deserves to be happy as much as you do, and facing her brand-new affair with acrimony will exclusively make it harder for you.

Let someone else love her the mode you couldnt.

Let her run. Give her live her brand-new life without you.

If “youve been” desired her at all, you owe her this. Maybe your courses will span again one day, but dont count on that thought.

For now, she is out of your life.

Dont make it harder on her or yourself by chaining yourself to the believed to be get her back.

She’ll respect you for that, and she’ll income the kindnes when you lastly stop listening to Death Cab For Cutie and start dating again.

There is no reason to flush with hatred when you think of her.

She accompanied some amazing ages into your life, so appreciate them and respect that you two “il be going” your separate ways.

One somewhat cloudy sphere of this process is reading how to not cover her in a perfect light.

Remember the relationship ended for a rationale, and both parties are to blame.

Well, there you have it. These are not all-encompassing.

Butlike I said, every situation is different.

Hopefully, these terms can help person out there.

It will injure, but its a part of life.

You eventually turn into a better being after you expend some time understanding of yourself.

You become more empathetic to peoples inner combats because you know how hard you are fighting your own.

( Oh, and try not to have sex with her. That certainly screws everything up .)

5 Things That I Have Learned In My First Week Of College.

1. You do not need to show up to every class thirty minutes before it actually starts.

I am obviously still adjusting to my schedule and finding out what works best for me. One thing I have already learned that does not work out for me is arriving at every damn class 30+ min before they start. My dorm building is relatively close to my classroom buildings and on average it takes me about 6-9 minutes to get from my dorm to my classes. I have been getting up super early and leaving way before my classes start with the fear of getting there late. I want to nip this habit in the bud early so that I am not wasting my time once my workload starts to increase and my time becomes limited. I was raised to always make sure I show up to things either early or right on time but I am showing up excessively early which could soon become a problem.

2. The girls you share your communal bathroom with were not raised the same way you were when it comes to cleaning.

When I found out I had a communal bathroom in my dorm, of course, I was grossed out and nervous to have to share my space with 52 other females. The first couple of days on campus were not so bad. Everyone seemed like they were cleaning up after themselves, making sure if they made a mess they cleaned it up right away and, were taking care of our bathroom. Now I feel like some of the girls on my floor might be getting a bit too comfortable. Leaving toilet paper on the ground and wads of hair in the shower and "forgetting" to flush the toilet seems like habits they are having a hard time breaking since leaving home. This is hard for me to deal with because at my house this was never okay so I never got into the habit of doing these things. When I make a mess, especially in a setting such as our communal bathroom- I clean it up. Growing up I had daily chores that I was responsible for finishing and it is to my understanding that some of these girls were raised the same way but their transition from living at home and now alone in school is not going the same as mine. I have learned that not everyone has the same habits, hygiene or common courtesy as I do and in some cases, there is not much I can do about it.

3. Take advantage of ALL of the free stuff your school is willing to give you.

I am now a poor college student. I do not have the time to pretend like I am out here in college balling. A few people have invited me to do things over the weekend and during the week which have all required me spending money I really do not have. I found that it is a lot easier to take advantage of the free activities my school has to offer me rather than spending money on activities I really can't afford. After all, I am paying my own tuition to attend Temple. I intend on taking advantage of all of the FREE things they are willing to offer me. I am a sucker for a free t-shirt, I love free food and if it's an event that gets me out of my sad dorm room I am all for it. I am so much of a freeloader that a Redbull rep was handing out free RedBull to students in my dorm building this past weekend and I do not drink red bull but I love free stuff so much I almost took the Redbull anyway ( wait does this mean I like free stuff or am I just greedy? LOL!).

It's still early in the semester and I do not want to find myself in a situation months from now that I could have easily avoided by planning and spending my money responsibly early on in the year. This past Friday I attended a free bus trip our Tyler school of art was hosting down into Old City Philadelphia. Although I am not an art major nor do I really enjoy visiting art galleries, I had a really good time. I went with a friend and we walked around, took pictures, got ice cream and talked for about two hours about everything! I am encouraging myself to get involved with trips and events like this even though I might not have an interest in it at first because I want to open myself up to things I have never done before.

4. Staying in does not mean that you are boring.

I have been kicking myself in the foot lately because this past week a lot of the people in my hall have been going out to parties. Just to give some background, I have never been a "party person" it's never been my setting. I'd much rather hang out at a kickback or go do something else but being crammed into a sweaty house with alcohol and people I do not know just does not appeal to me. Because of this, I have made myself feel guilty for not going out. I have tricked myself into thinking I am "boring" or not experiencing the "college life" and all it has to offer by not attending parties. I have to remind myself that just because I am not going to parties does not mean that I am not having fun and also does not mean that I am not getting involved. I know that it is only my first week of my freshman year and that my attitude towards parties could surely change, but for right now I have just decided they are not my thing and that is okay.

5. It is okay to be "Freshman-y"

Whether you are a freshman in high school or a freshman in college you are absolutely aware that you are at the bottom of the food chain and essentially no one has respect for you just because of the mere fact of you being a freshman. I HATE that coming into school there are so many Facebook posts and articles shared on "what not to do" as a freshman. Some of them were so crazy for example I saw an article that said that freshmen shouldn't wear their lanyards around their necks, should try to avoid asking upperclassmen for help and "shouldn't be so excited for college". I just want to say right now that I feel like all of that is bullshit. I mean it is absolutely crazy to think that putting your lanyard around your neck... where it goes.. could make you look more like a freshman... which I AM. It is as if the motives of these articles and statements are to try and help us look like anything else but a freshman. I have learned from my own experiences this week that I am okay with looking like an annoying freshman. I am perfectly fine with not knowing where my classes are and having to ask for help, or not knowing how to get a package sent to me, or not knowing how to work the washing machines in our laundry room. My pride and ego are not too big for me to ask for help and I hope that if there are any freshman reading this post ( whether in high school or college) you understand that there is nothing wrong with asking for help. Use the tools and resources that are here for freshmen to succeed and take advantage of all of the help people are willing to give you now because they might not be so willing as you begin to get older. Lastly, it is okay to be excited about college. Some of us have worked so hard to get here and we deserve to feel excitement and pride to be where we are. Do not let upperclassmen or anyone else make you feel like you should not be excited.

I may have fucked up my life and it’s all Bill Murray’s fault. I know it’s fashionable to blame Donald Trump for everything these days- and that trend will undoubtedly continue to grow, but, to be blunt, I don’t worry about Trump.

I mean I certainly understand that I’m going to suffer some terrible repercussions from his election, but at this point, it’s water under the bridge. I did my best to keep him from being elected, but the stupid, greedy, sleazy, immoral and apathetic people won and now we can all suffer the consequences. So fucking be it.

Which doesn’t mean that I’m giving up on life. I’m certainly not going to dress in sack cloth and ashes and bemoan my life or the stupidity, immorality, greed or sleaziness of the people who elected Trump and his pack of shit brained fools. That would be a waste of my valuable and precious life, and besides, karma is going to go pitbull and tear the throat out of those greasy shitbags soon enough.

No, it turns out that even after Trump was elected, the sun came up and the wind blew through the trees. I woke up breathing pretty much like any other day and was forced to decide what I would do with that day. and by extension, what I would do with the next week, month year and remainder of my life.

It’s obviously a decision each of us makes every day- either consciously or by default. And just because an alleged pedephile with the IQ of dog sperm is running the country, doesn’t mean that we have to pack it all end. It’s not game set and match.

So what next? That is again, obviously, dependent upon who you are and what you believe. If you believe in God, arguably it doesn’t matter which path you take, because he’s got your back no matter where you go. As God was alleged to have said in the Book of Genesis- as rewritten by King James, “And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.”

Which- if you are a person of faith, pretty damn sweet. However (long dramatic pause)…. not all of us can rustle up that kind of blind faith no matter how hard we try, no matter how much we would like to be comforted by by said alleged god.

Which pretty much leaves me and ye of little faith standing on the side of the road, looking far into the distant and hazy horizon thinking, “well, what next?”? Or, as Jack Kerouac said, in cribbing the Lord: “Whither goest thou, America, in thy shiny car at night?”

To be clear and as truthful as possible in this post truth society, I don’t have a car, let alone a shiny car, but I do have a dusty, dinged up bright red pick up truck, which brings me back to Bill Murray being an asshole.

My thought at this point is that I should pack up my bright red pick up- or at the least jump on a train- and- as Huck Finn would have it- head out for the territories. Which is pretty much what I have always done.

For my own personal life narrative goes something like this: I believe that we’re born and we die and that I can’t do a damn thing about either of these conditions, but as the great sage Eddie Vedder once said, “I know I was born and I know that I’ll die, the in between is mine.”

Which brings us to the parable of the grasshopper and the ant.

THE ANT AND THE CRICKET

During the wintertime, an ant was living off the grain that he had stored up for himself during the summer. The cricket came to the ant and asked him to share some of his grain. The ant said to the cricket, ‘And what were you doing all summer long, since you weren’t gathering grain to eat?’ The cricket replied, ‘Because I was busy singing I didn’t have time for the harvest.’ The ant laughed at the cricket’s reply, and hid his heaps of grain deeper in the ground. ‘Since you sang like a fool in the summer,’ said the ant, ‘you better be prepared to dance the winter away!’ This fable depicts lazy, careless people who indulge in foolish pastimes, and therefore lose out.

This was, of course, a favorite parable of the nuns who raised me and every CEO who ever wanted to harness my energy, at minimal pay so that he might enrich his own personal coffers. The ant represents all the good boys and girls.

The cricket, of course represents all those artists and bad boys and general near do wells you so admire but never emulate in life. Those who go through life starving and scraping by and acting irresponsibly so that might, you know, enjoy life now instead of waiting till they’re nearly dead and/or in heaven- which may or may not exist.

Most of us struggle with this dichotomy. I myself spent a large part of my being a good ant. I worked for a large insurance company- and was fantastically underpaid by said wealthy company for a long time.

I also worked for myself. And even though I was calling the shots, I worked- for a very long time as an even more industrious ant. I worked my ass off and rendered unto Caesar and tried to be fair unto everyone- until it because very clear that the whole ant thing was a very large con game.

In writing of man’s need for certainity, conformity Maria Konnikova in her work The Confidence Game: What Con Artists Reveal About the Psychology of Trust and Why Even the Most Rational of Us Are Susceptible to Deception, writes that:

Human beings don’t like to exist in a state of uncertainty or ambiguity. When something doesn’t make sense, we want to supply the missing link. When we don’t understand what or why or how something happened, we want to find the explanation..

Which is why man- as a whole, is so gullible. Man and women will believe damn near anything- no matter how ridiculous the explanation, so long as the explanation serves to calm their anxious soul, serves to smooth their furrowed brow.

Oh my, we’ve stumbled into Donald Trump Territory again haven’t we.

But then it’s always been a con game. Sort of like the Plantation owners reading verses to the slaves so as to justify their enslavement. “Colossians 3:22:Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.”

Sort of like when the banksters bankrupted America in 2008 and the government bailed them out and left the vast majority of us hanging…..

All of which is actually beside the point. Because if the question is, should one check out of society and chose to live a simple life rather than live as a rat on a treadmill counting the days till his or her first heart attack, then the answer is simple.

We should all check out and do whatever in the hell makes us happy and fuck our governmental and corporate masters.

But life never is that simple is it? Because it’s never about just us is it?

We want to believe we are the star of the show, that we are a rugged individualists. We buy wholesale into the saw that America is the land of the individual. As one writer would have it in outlining the common trope known as the rugged American, “America has been the land of the individual, and most Americans have thought of themselves as individualists. We still speak favorably of individual rights, individual initiative, individual responsibility, individual opportunity, and individual achievement.”

Which, of course is why, “the American criminal justice system holds more than 2.3 million people in 1,719 state prisons, 102 federal prisons, 942 juvenile correctional facilities, 3,283 local jails, and 79 Indian Country jails as well as in military prisons, immigration detention facilities, civil commitment centers, and prisons in the U.S. territories,” because we are the freest people in the entire solar system.”

No, the truth is that we are a nation of conformists and we hate people who go their own way. We claim to admire them, but our entire society is constructed to keep people in line because man is a conformist and American’s are no different The government is not an expression of our ideals, but an institution we have created to generate the illusion of safety we require to sleep through long winter nights. It’s in our nature, our DNA. We are programed to conform because there is safety in conformity and profit, or so most Americans actually believe.

I trust that you appreciate that the above tale of the cricket and the ant is from Aesop’s Fables . And do you know what I learned this day from my research? Aesop was a slave. “a slave and storyteller believed to have lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE.”

Of course there have always been those who- no matter what the odds, decide to go their own way-buck the system. They gain their freedom through cunning, wit or sheer determination. Aesops, for instance, was such a man.

While Aesops served as a slave under not one, but two masters, named, Xanthus and Iadmon, “the later gave him his freedom as a reward for his wit and intelligence. As a freedman he supposedly became involved in public affairs and traveled a lot—telling his fables along the way. King Croesus of Lydia was so impressed with Aesop that he offered him residency and a job at his court.”

In fact there are scholars who maintain that the fables served as both morality tales and as a means of subversive, hidden speech, a means of speaking truth to the power during times of political repression.

Of course, playing both ends against the middle can always be a tricky thing- as evidenced by the fact that Aesop was executed, apparently as an act of appeasement to the gods or some offended government….

Such lessons have always been lost on some throughout history. There have always been those who, despite history’s lessons, take to the open road nevertheless. They go in search of wisdom, riches, fame and enlightenment-satori. Some go because they simply cannot stand not to go: Melville famously wrote in Moby Dick.

Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off- then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

Indeed. Is it possible to say that you have lived until you have obeyed the urge to flee? Those who have quietly taken to ship comprise a respectable society- if not a large one.

One such kindred spirit was W. Somerset Maugham, who in 1944 published, the Razor’s Edge- which was twice made into a movie. The lead in the second movie, filmed in 1984, was, of course, played by Bill Murray in a rare early dramatic role.

The Razor’s Edge epigraph reads, “The sharp edge of a razor is difficult to pass over; thus the wise say the path to Salvation is hard.” In paraphrasing this epigraph- taken from the Katha-Upanishad- Maugham says of the mendicant seeking enlightenment, “Its a toss-up when you decide to leave the beaten track. Many are called, few are chosen.”

The actual quotation is “Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the exalted ones, for that path is sharp as a razor’s edge, impassable, and hard to go by, say the wise.“

Which is a release and relief when you read it.

As Americans we think that we’re entitled to whatever we want when we want. We’re then shocked and angered when things turn against us. If, however, we’re smart enough to head out on the road knowing that freedom is a motherfucker, then we can adjust our expectations accordingly; put on our game face, bring our A game.

The Razor’s Edge tells the story of Larry Darrell, an American pilot traumatised by his experiences in World War I, who sets off in search of some transcendent meaning in his life. … His rejection of conventional life and search for meaningful experience allows him to thrive while the more materialistic characters suffer reversals of fortune.

The book, it is said, owes much to Maugham’s Asian walkabout. His travels allegedly included a visits to Shri Ramana Maharishi’s ashram in 1938. Maugham, some say, foresaw the West’s fascination for Eastern culture—which would not reach its zenith until some two decades later.

I have known many crickets in my life. Some I have known personally, and others I have met through their stories and other works of art.

Many of the crickets I have known are well known, the usual suspects. The Beats, the Transcendentalists, Thoreau, the rock stars of my youth prior to rock and roll being co-opted by Madison Ave and tied to every roll of toilet paper sold in America….

And, of course, there was Joseph Campbell. The man who after reading tales of hero quests in countless cultures throughout time, encapsulated those tales in a common template which serves as the basis for nearly every tale of bravery and conquest ever written by man, or filmed by Hollywood.

I love Campbell’s explanation of the hero-quest, the hero leaves the safety of his society- normally after being ostracized or failing to conform with his society. The hero then goes out into the world where- by engaging in battles and trials, he gains wisdom. Ultimately, she or he returns home to his society bearing hard earned gifts and wisdom which benefit the society.

To Campbell, the cricket is a hero, not a slacker.Maugham as well:“You see, money to you means freedom; to me it means bondage.”

But of all the crickets I have ever met- for whatever reason- none have suckered me as badly as Bill Murray’s portrayal of Larry Darrell in the Razor’s edge. I have seen both movies and read the novel. For whatever reason, the 1984 movie and Murray’s appearance live in my head.

And I went many places and had may adventures and arguably have gained some wisdom. But I am alo now faced with the question- should I go back, can I go back. Is it too late, after spurning all appearance- for the twenty years or so, of a normal life, is it possible to go back and hide heaps of grain deeper in the ground?

Because here’s the problem. Early on in your life you’re going to make the choice to be an ant or a cricket- either consciously or by default or through inertia and apathy. What no one will tell you though is that there comes a point in time- far sooner than you will appreciate, when you can no longer go back.

And so I went, for years, for decades. And winter now approaches. Larry Darrell: “It’s easy to be a holy man on top of a mountain.” Which is true enough. It’s also a very tough gig to be a holy man in America, in Milford Ohio, in 2017.

Maugham’s hero aso says that, “I found out there’s another debt to pay – for the privilege of being alive.” I’ve been chewing on that for a long time now. Do we owe for our birth? Do we owe to others? To whom and what?

Specifically, in my case- what do I owe to my sons, especially my schizophrenic sons. Do I work every minute for the rest of my life to help provide for them- or do I still owe myself a life? Is there a balance, and if so where is the line and who gets to draw it? Me, them, the church, the government?

Which, at the end of the day doesn’t really answer the question. Which is too bad, because I don’t have the answer either. Which is really too bad- because I very much need the answer. Because if it isn’t too late, it’s getting close to too late for me.

All I know for certain is that if there is an answer out there, it lies on the road. If I have learned nothing I have learned that there is no wisdom and objectivity like the wisdom of the road.

I know there are also wise men and women out there. So I’ll go in search of both and I’m no coming back until I have the answers I need. I know there answers I need and the people I need to meet are out there. Again, as Maugham has written; “Almost all the people who’ve had the most effect on me I seem to have met by chance, yet looking back it seems as though I couldn’t but have met them.”

So I go. I go to speak to the road, to speak with cranes and eagles and geese and deer and wise men and wise women and holy men and we shall see. Most of all I’m going because I can- I know I owe myself that.

It’s interesting to note that after the Razor’s Edge and flying home from Nepal to do Ghost Busters; which was Murray’s price- his tradeoff- for being able to make TRE- he quit acting for four years and moved his family to Paris. He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne.

Maybe in the end, the only true suckers are those who never take the time to seriously ask themselves what this life is about. Maybe those are the people who need to comfort themselves with self serving parables.

We is in conformity with our freshman dormitory and hit it off almost immediately.

She was so goddamn beautiful.

As striking as her physical grace was, that wasnt what constructed her special to me.

I was addicted to her personality.

She has this acces with the world.

I cant truly explain it, but shes improbably magnetic.

People like being around her, and I required( involved) her to be mine.

Ill hop-skip the gory items, but we started dating mid-freshman year.

It was fireworks from the start.

Those fireworks popped and sparkled in my president every day for the next two years while I was around her.

She was magical.

Slowly, though, I think we both began to realize the fireworks had been blinding us from the underlying problems of our personalities.

We didnt communicate well, and we brushed bigger editions under the table.

Those big concerns evidenced themselves into insecurities within the relationship, and they turned into inessential contentions “thats been” easily avoidable.

I abruptly realized it had reached the point of no return.

Neither of us was happy.

There was a different gleam in her eyes.

The once soft and relentlessly caring seeings appeared more guarded and cold.

Im sure she saw the same event when she seemed back at me.

I cant speak for her, but I stopped cherishing her.

Long story short, we intent things.

In the months that followed, I fell down to incredibly dark places.

The world seemed a little less beautiful.

I was going through the healing process, and I ended I needed to take the time to look inward and start moving concepts happen for myself.

Here are five theatres of keep moving and making become that I went through.

1. Mourn.

My advice is to let yourself mourn the loss.

Be sad.

Dont let the passions build up to a hazardous point.

Think of curbing spirits like including air to a balloon thats already been inflated.

Eventually, its bound to pop.

Listen to some psychological music and be overdramatic about it.

The more you let your ardours come to the forefront, the more you will learn about yourself.

Oh, and cut off all contact with her.

You may think you can be friends, but you cant.

There is too much emotional baggage.

2. Recline on your support system.

Im going to be blunt here: No one actually demonstrates a f* ck about your heartbreak.

Really, its not a malicious thing.

People will be empathetic and empathize with you, but they dont truly care since they are dont genuinely understand.

They may understand the sorenes from a previous anguish of their own, but every tie-in is so unique in and of itself that the healing battle should be self-directed.

However , now is the time to truly figure out the people you can trust to lean on for this sort of stuff.

First, lean on your family.

They have been there for you as long as youve been alive, and they have a lot of knowledge with passion that they are willing to talk about.

I grew so much closer to my family in my mourning process because I was truly dedicated to fostering such relationships in my life that werent with her.

I found out a lot about my family and a lot about who my true-life acquaintances are.

They are all damn good people, and they had my back each step of the way.

Exercise with your best friend and family.

Go out to eat, get drunk with them and talk to them when you feel like you need to.

They may not truly understand, but theyll listen.

That makes all the difference.

3. Identify problem areas and focus inward.

Were you a greedy motherfucker during your relationship?

Were you insecure and jealous? Did you put yourself before her?

Whatever it is, illustration it out and work on improving it.

This is your time to fix the things about yourself that you arent proud of.

Start improving them.

Before you work on giving your nerve to someone else, focus inward.

The first step to solving a problem is identifying and admitting the fact you have one.

4. Take care of yourself.
