Sparring instead of committing more crime— yeah a break’s probably a good idea at this point. These two have been through so much recently so seeing them sort of give each other some room to breathe is so nice. They both need it so badly.

Karai gets to be a bad influence the chapter. The teenagers have obtained alcohol everyone, you have been warned. Also Karai, hun, he’d probably have had less intense of a reaction if you’d said what the mystery liquid was before drinking it <3

Raph drank way too much immediately because of course he did lmao. Karai’s “oh dear” reaction— see what you’ve done to him ma’am? His brain is soup. Soup! Stands up and immediately nope HELP-

I really like how these two’s relationship has built up to this point. They’re both a lot more blunt than Raph’s brothers, and it seems to be working in their favor for once. They’ve done a bit of ‘casual’ hanging out, but they also kinda just skipped to having important conversations that they probably both need. Also, these two feel older than the other turtles after everything. Karai just *is*, but the way Raph acts with her is different. I don’t entirely know how to put words to it? They’re being rebellious and doing stupid shit, sure, but it also seems like they’re actually working through things a bit. It’s not just screwing around for the sake of it. I dunno, they have ‘older siblings that are starting to need more of their own space’ vibes.

I'm back with another list of loves for Heartstopper. Read my first when my mind had been newly blown mind here: heartstopper S1. Since I've gone all in on Oseman. Still, not the target audience. Ahem.

10 things I loved about series 2 of Heartstopper

I have to make this distinction. This show, the writing, acting, directing, is not cringe. The story they convey is very genuine because they feel like real teenagers. Being a teenager is cringe. And it was perfectly told.

Welcoming in an ensemble. S1 was all Nick and Charlie. It felt intimate. This series exploded in to group and I loved it. I felt everyone got good screen time and excellent character development. You always find your people when you're your authentic self.

So much kissing. Love. To. See. It.

How terrible N+C were at keeping it under wraps. YOU DUMB BEAUTIFUL BOYS

Charlie 🥹 my motherly instincts just took over and I was just utterly in awe and proud of you. From standing up to bullies and finding your voice, to shining as a friend, and being so supportive of Nick's journey. So much growth. Delivered so well. Just wish you'd done your coursework earlier.

That said, I'm concerned for what comes next. This series had me swooning the next will have me sobbing. I felt they got the balance right with subtle, discreet nods, not raising too many suspicions with others. It's set up the next series for sure.

TAO AND ELLE JFJSKSKKKKKK. He really stepped UP the main character energy and smashed it.

New scenes! I loved that Tao knew in Paris about N+C and was all protective. I preferred the focus on Nick grappling with coming out but knowing they could be themselves with their group. And the bonus Charlie 🩶 Tao was *chefs kiss* 🔒

Ben Hope being served the "you don't get to ambush me" line instead of Harry. Then he walks away from the rainbow making a conscious decision to REPRESS THOSE FEELINGS.

It was better than the first series. How!!??? I knew the source material this time I had hopes and expectations and everything, and it still exceeded them. That's impossible.

Honourable mention to the mums (Tao's, Nick's, Tara's and Elle's only. I wanna be just like you!). Oh wait, second honourable mention to the teachers 🥹.

This theme was sort of a long time coming lol, as far back as I got the Art of Onward book at least (so almost a month ago?), but yeah!! For tonight's edition of fanart-sharing and shout-outing, I give you our favorite elf bros as kids!

Here's a fun fact for you, Quest Masters: this summer I've been watching the deleted scenes more often than I did when they first came out, and the first one "Unstoppable" I have to say I've watched at least 10 times now! I love every single one of the Onward deleted scenes but there's something about young Ian and Barley that just gives me serotonin to the point where I skyrocket!

I mean, they're already precious as teenagers...but as kids?! AHHHHHHH! CUE MY DYING OF CUTENESS! 🥰

So let us go back in time (but not too far! this isn't a trip to the times of yore! lol) and turn on our heart eyes for all the little Ian and Barleys these artists have made below! 😍

demico_art - baby Ian is heavy, but young Barley's smile says he doesn't care! He loves his little bro more than anything and will do anything for him! I love the overall brightness of this piece! and the detail in their hair is just amazing too!

amykleinhansillustration - what an amazingly pretty light show this piece is! quite literally since Barley is lighting up the room and appears to being putting on a show for his little brother! the whole picture just gives me all warm and cozy feels and speaks great entertainment from the pillows to the coloring book!

the_modern_ghost - awwwww when I look at this piece, and see Ian hugging his older bro from behind, I see him thanking Barley for doing something fun with him. The fact that "I never had a dad, but I always had you" is also written here certainly helps with that!

weevmo - I almost see this as a counterclockwise progression of baby Ian warming up to his big bro! but what I also see is Barley's love for his baby bro being undeniable! it shows really well here! also the color and line detail? *chef's kiss*

_vilusivi_ - the light and shadow here is so well done! young Ian biking towards the sunlight? a sure sign of hope that he won't fall! and Barley's confident smile as he watches? very endearing! I'm rooting for them both in this piece!

hannahdrawnings - this one's so fun! Ian and Barley celebrating Day of the Dead? Awesome! and honoring Wilden? that's absolutely sweet! they even have a papel picado on their altar! The whole drawing is just so cute!

cheezysqueaks - "Magic! Magic! Make the Luxo Ball fly!" lol, I told you I've watched this deleted scene about 10 times! anyway I love how colorful this piece is, like it's super colorful and pretty! The shine in the boys' eyes, the night sky...it's all so beautiful!

cherry_grenade_ - this piece tells a story and I love it! I always adore the concept of young Barley showing/teaching young Ian things! I also just really love how both boys have gaps in their teeth if you look closely, if that doesn't speak childhood I don't know what does!

a_a_alnaqbi_ - I really love pieces like this that show Ian and Barley then and now, especially this one which shows Barley was and still is there for his little brother even when his little brother isn't so little anymore! 🥹
