Bad End: Trust
"Meet your new mates, cargo! Get breeding!"
I didn't understand the bellowed noises at the time. It was just incoherent gibberish. Heaped on top of what was likely a concussion, mixed with what ever drugs they had pumped me with. Thrown into a cell, roughly, and hitting the ground hard. I couldn't have caught myself if I had wanted too. My limbs, unresponsive and dragging meat, that I could barely FEEL.
Please, god, I had thought. Don't let me be paralyzed. Not on top of everything else.
They'll kill me.
Behind and around me, the weeping cries of sorrow and fear rang out. Screams of violence, born of desperation. Countless races, bound together, suffering in this hell. Newly enslaved. I didn't... I couldn't understand. Shaking and struggling to remain conscious, laying on the blood stained floor. The world swayed violently. It was all I could do, to barely keep from passing out.
It was so cold. The air, the floor, the deep and clawing despair, sinking like knives into my gut. Those furry... things, had grabbed me while I was alone, before I could react. W-would anyone notice? Could anyone DO anything? I wanted to get away from the door. Curl up in a corner and... and cry. But I could not move. Like a doll, dropped thoughtlessly on the floor, I could not... could not move.
Tears I likely could not afford, threatened to choke me.
I... I was scared.
Then, deeper in the hovel that was my new home, movement. The heavy clink of chains. Shifting, slow and careful, followed by the drag of metal. A warm hand. Fingers, calloused but careful, checking my neck. My pulse, for injury perhaps, I couldn't tell. But... god, i could have sobbed in relief. They... they felt human.
How terrible of me. That I was GLAD not to be alone. T-That it was relief, to have another person here. Someone who might know what's going on. What to do. To.. to stick with. I... I should wish it was just me, right? That they captured no one else? But... oh god. O-Oh God, I can't! I'm scared. Please. P-please...
I'm so scared.
The person checking me hummed low and soft. Their voice crackling like an old radio that's been left sitting on a shelf too long, unused. How.. how long has it been? Since they last had anyone to talk too? They sounded male, but.. but I didn't want to presume. Could just have a low voice. Throat injury. Might be Trans. I didn't care, couldn't care. I was pretty sure? We were all we had now.
They... no, He, found nothing alarming enough not to move me. Shifting into view as he gently slipped his arms under me. Enough to pick me up and carry me away from the door. He was... is... pretty handsome.
Okay, REALLY handsome.
Horrifically enough? I could see WHY they grabbed him. Athletic as hell, TV ready, really smart. If you were going to ignore ever bit of decency and morality to ever exsist? Might as well go for the best, I guess. Don't know why they grabbed ME, but I guess? They need a stand in or something? Or my predecessor is dead.
(God, I hope she's dead. The alternative...)
Pretty quickly became apparent, though, that one of the main problems (of so, SO many)? Was we don't actually speak the same language. Which... I mean... Well, shit. That's, putting it mildly, "less then ideal". Being unable to communicate with the only other person nominally on "My Side"? Kinda bad! But, I AM learning. And I am teaching him english! So there's that.
We have nothing but time, after all. It helps distract from the suffering just outside. The weeping and screams. The sounds that must be begging, in alien dialects. All the mercies they do not find.
(Is it terrible? That I am glad I can not understand what they are saying? Their cries for help? I can't help them. It hurts. Helpless to even save my self. God, I'm sorry. Please... I'm... I'm so sorry...)
Food gets shoved in. Lights flipped on. Lights shut off. The timer odd, but probably standard for somewhere. It's like being told to go to sleep halfway through the afternoon. Yanked awake before full nights are done. I struggle to adapt, even a little, following my fellow prisoner's lead. Or, well, trying too. There's a lot of charades at first.
Then, practicing our languages. Taking what naps and cuddling for warmth we can. Harsh lights be damned. It's cold, we're tired, but we have to keep our strength up. Right? Throughout it all, I try to ignore the weird smells they pump in. Still not used to getting random scents blasted at my head from above, from the air vents in the walls.
Day in, day out, rinse and repeate. The weird gasses smells like people have had sex, to be honest. I think? But don't quote me. They might be trying to get us to "mate", like animals, so they can sell our kids. Induce some nonexistent human heat cycle or something. I've kinda started to worry, not gonna lie, about what they'll do... you know, once they finally get frustrated. Figure out, we don't work like that.
Or... more relevantly, might not even be? Compatible?
Cause Azenari is DEFINITELY not a human. They fucked uuuup. Cause if he is? There is some probably serious divergent evolution going on. He did NOT get nabbed from Earth. HE got nabbed from his SHIP(as in, yeah, a fuckin Space Ship). Because HIS people are space faring! The man has pointy ears for fucks sake! Some seriously fangy canines. And while, yeah, seriously kinda cool? No idea if our species are related, or... you know...
So yeah, The Fur Covered Slaver Bastards are apparently Humanoid face blind, on TOP of being just generally terrible. Or dumb! Might be dumb, honestly. Wouldn't put it past them. Banality of evil and all that. But recently? There was a... tension. Something was coming. The Bastards seemed twitchy.
"Not long now, beloved. We're two stops from the extraction ambush." Azenari murmured, from where he was tucked loosely around me as I watch the latest patrol pass, one arm cradling me tight. Even as, with the other hand, he sleepily stroked my back. "You'll look lovely in proper robes. You deserve finery, my love."
I couldn't understand most of the sentence. Normally he simplified for me, since I was still learning. He seemed... pleased? Smug? The more tense and twitchy the Bastards got, the more darkly amused he seemed to become. As though he knew exactly why. As though he was laughing inside.
"My magnificent darling, you'll belong to me in everyway that matters. I'll take safer jobs. No more slave ring stings. I promise."
Oh. I think I got it. Azenari though of me as family! Yeah, that tracked. Trauma bonding and all. I did too. Couldn't help but smile, hugging him back, much to his clear delight. Yeah. We were in this together.
I'm glad I had someone I could trust. The universe was big and I would be pretty much alone without him. All but thrown at his feet and told I was his, Azenari had every chance to hurt me. But he didn't. He was a good man. Solid and stable when everything when frightening, warm and there when I needed to hide.
Really, it was only a matter of time before we would be chatting like old friends!
"You are NEVER going to escape me, beloved."
"I Love You."

You felt his lips ignite your skin, a trail of love down the back of your neck and shoulder blade as the sun filtered in through the trailer’s blinds behind you.
What a way to wake up!
Aww, he got her a fancy coffee machine... what a sweetie.
You only smirked in response and draped your arms around his neck. You repeated the same deep kiss and straddled his thighs, pushing him back into the mattress.
“Guess we’ll be very late.”
100% would be worth being late for 😉
femmefatale187
Ooo, that has to be the killer, right? Too much of a coincidence otherwise.
Love the details you're weaving into this, like 187 being the code for murder in the California Penal Code.
Her eyebrows raised in disbelief before a scoff followed. She shook her head as if she wanted to shake the image of you, half-naked in her ex-husband’s shirt, in his apartment, out of her mind.
Oohh... no wonder Carla wasn't happy to see her in their first meeting in Montana.
The conversation they had about the football and how they both still talked to Randy, but the frequency of how often she does has changed felt so realistic. It really showed their grieving and how it changes with the passage of time.
Oh no... the breakup flashback. I had a feeling we would come to this one at some point, and I wasn't ready 😭
“Yeah,” he choked out, swallowing the tears down that fought to escape. “It didn’t mean anything. It was just a distraction. For both of us.”
Ouch, that hurt!! Even more so knowing that neither of them meant it.
As the harrowing silence consumed the air in your lungs and the love in your heart, you fell to the floor and shattered. Sobs wrecked your body like an incurable disease, and you knew at that moment you could never caulk the cracks again and return to who you were.

Chapter 5: Illicit Affairs
You felt his lips ignite your skin, a trail of love down the back of your neck and shoulder blade as the sun filtered in through the trailer’s blinds behind you. You sighed blissfully, a smile dancing on your lips as you stretched your limbs in his embrace.
Your hand wandered above you, finding his full head of hair, fingers carding through the dark blond and soft strands. You could feel him grin against your skin before you felt his bulging erection pressing against your butt, causing you to push further into him on instinct.
“Mornin’,” he chuckled against the shell of your ear, his hand wandering to your front and diving between your legs. His fingers ran through your slick and stroked your sensitive bud.
“Oh God,” you whimpered and bit your bottom lip harshly. Your pussy throbbed at his touch, already feeling yourself fall over the edge. Beau could tell as well.
“Jesus,” he groaned with a gentle bite of your shoulder. “Someone’s ready.”
When his other hand snaked around your body from underneath and pulled you flush against his own like the lightest feather, his palm cupped one breast roughly, fingers playing with the pert nipple.
“Fuck me,” you mewled deliriously, your cunt screaming to be filled as his hands teased you to the brink of existence.
“I believe that’s what I’m already doing, darlin’,” he drawled, chuckling.
“Beau, please,” you begged, pushing even more against him as you searched for friction.
“Alright.”
Abandoning his teasing, he flipped you onto your stomach and straddled your thighs, prying your legs apart. His fingers did the same with your asscheeks before he threaded the aching tip of his cock through your arousal and nudged at your entrance. With one thrust, he pushed inside you till his pelvis met your cheeks. You moaned out in ecstasy when he stretched your walls with a pleasurable burn.
“Fuck, you feel good,” he groaned into your ear, his beard scraping your cheek.
One of his hands gripped the headboard above you while the other one steadied you at your waist. His hips rolled slowly as he slid in and out of you, his cock stroking your cunt at a lazy early morning pace.
It still was enough to tip you over that sweet cliff of pleasure, especially when the hand on your waist traveled to your clit and gave it a few skillful rubs with his fingers. His thrusts then gained speed, hearing his ragged breaths in your ear. Your screaming climax was muffled as you buried your face in the fluffy pillow, fingers fisting the sheets tightly.
Beau’s hips came to a stuttering halt as your cunt pulsed around him. With his last stroke, he pushed into you as deeply as he could, burying himself to the brim. His cock twitched inside your velvety walls and filled you with his warm release. He cried out and let himself drop on top of you, breathing heavily into the crook of your neck until his orgasm passed.
You could’ve easily drifted back into sleep now, your eyelids heavy as he slipped out of you with one last wet kiss to your shoulder and rolled onto his back next to you as best as he could.
The bed was small, barely fitting two, and pushed against the wall at the very end of the trailer. But it was cozy, and you liked the tight space, considering it practically forced you two to cuddle all night.
“Guess I can save the workout this morning,” Beau said, and you could hear the grin in his voice.
You chortled. “As if you would’ve actually worked out.”
“You have no idea how much I’ve hiked this summer, alright? Those mountains are no joke,” he quipped.
“Actually, I do know ‘cause Cassie told me, and she said you weren’t all that impressive,” you retorted teasingly. You could feel him rise onto his forearms behind you as the mattress dipped, looking down at you with an arched eyebrow.
“‘Scuse me, I think I just showed you impressive,” he countered, making you laugh. Chuckling himself, he pecked the top of your head. “Got a surprise for you this morning.”
“I think I’ve already gotten your surprise,” you teased and rolled onto your back, smirking up at him.
He smiled down at you. “Hilarious. But I actually think you’ll like this one even better.”
“Better than your dick? Consider me interested.”
Beau nodded with his chin to the little kitchenette. “Look over there. It’s on the stove.”
You acrobatically rolled yourself to the edge of the bed, one hand touching the floor as you stretched your neck enough to spy his little surprise for you.
“I always knew you were flexible, but damn, girl, where’s that move been?” he joked behind you. You playfully slapped his arm, Beau tickling your sides in revenge.
“No, no, no tickling!” You squirmed through your giggles and tried to fend off his attack, almost plunging out of the bed before his arms caught you and pulled you back in. Then, you finally spied his surprise. “Aww, you got me one of those Italian coffee makers for the stove. I love those!”
“Oh, I know. I remembered you have one of those at home,” he said. “Figured it’d save you some gas before you bolted to the next town over for coffee.”
“Thank you.” You grinned broadly and showed your gratitude with a deep kiss, your hands cupping his cheeks.
“You’re welcome, although you can’t keep kissin’ me like that,” he said, smiling against your lips.
“Why?”
“‘Cause if you do, you and I are gonna be very late for work,” Beau quipped, but his palms already slid up your sides, pulling you closer to him.
You only smirked in response and draped your arms around his neck. You repeated the same deep kiss and straddled his thighs, pushing him back into the mattress.
“Guess we’ll be very late.”
September 2021
A beam of light hit your eyes as you groggily blinked awake. Your skin felt sticky under the thin layer of sheets, close to burning as if you’d slept next to a radiator all night. The digital alarm clock on the nightstand read 7:03AM and 80.3°F, and it took you a strong arm tightening around your middle to realize where you were, what happened, and why you were so goddamn hot.
Beau’s breath felt like a welcoming breeze against the nape of your neck, a cool draft of air that tickled your skin. His little snores in your ear made you smile, a serene and steady lullaby that could rock you to a peaceful sleep. Something you could get used to.
Your eyes then focused on the hands that held you. Massive and calloused. Reliant and durable. Protective and safe. Your fingers found themselves mindlessly playing with his, interlocking as if they refused to ever be separated.
He stirred, and you took a deep breath to inhale his scent and memorize it, scared he would take it with him when he decided to leave. Somehow a part of you knew it wouldn’t last. It was too complicated, too intricate, too messy. It was illicit, clandestine, and sinful.
It was everything you shouldn’t want but wanted.
“Hey,” Beau rasped behind you, his voice heavy with sleep and the great unknown.
You rolled onto your back, careful and slow as not to disturb the arms that held you. You didn’t want them to retreat. “Hey,” you said in a shaky whisper, your voice jittering in rhythm with your heart.
Yet, you couldn’t help the smile that rose to your cheeks when you looked into his eyes. There was a flicker of something in them that made your whole body rejoice.
An apprehensive swallow caused his Adam’s apple to bob as if he had to will himself to choke out these next words. “Any regrets yet?” he repeated last night’s question, the look on his face anticipating you to break his heart with your answer.
Tears crept to your eyes, but you did your best not to let them fall. You’d spent over a year crying out of sadness, never believing you’d find it and feel it again. But here you were, with tears of happiness stinging your eyes, falling in love all over again.
You cupped his cheeks, fingers carding tenderly through his beard. He watched you with a curious, hopeful, and awaiting look in his eyes, unlawful glances as your noses were so close they could touch at any forbidden heartbeat.
When you shook your head, you could feel his heart expand with relief. “Mm-mm, no. I don’t regret it at all. Not you, not anything,” you assured him.
His mouth twitched to a smile, his lips quivering against yours when he kissed you so criminally ardent you thought the world might be ending outside.
And yet, you ignored the warning in your heart, foreboding this love affair between you wouldn’t end well.
It was another long afternoon as you, with the help of Jenny, Cassie, and Beau, went through tons of files, looking for a connection between the victims. You’d been at it for a week now – and that was only the time you’d spent in Montana.
The whole case had already dragged on for months and several states, each new victim making you feel like a failure. The past months were strenuous, and you were growing tired of running in circles.
You were glad about the new helping hands and fresh eyes, though.
When Beau and Jenny had to work on other cases, it was just you and Cassie. Sometimes even Denise stopped by the station to help sort through the stacks of documents and make sense of them. Most of all, she would bring a little sunshine and make the dark days feel significantly brighter.
Denise would even bribe you with baked goods if you were willing to share some intimate details about her favorite sheriff, or in her words – the big details.
Cassie threw her a scolding look at that comment, whereas Beau gave you one when you sold him out for a deliciously homemade apple pie. The taste was well worth every inch you revealed.
However, aside from the few jokes that were shared between all of you, the case itself demanded long hours, a lot of brain cells, and an abundance of strong caffeine and greasy junk food.
While the victimology was clear, you still didn’t know how the killer found out about the cheating. Every partner had been pretty discreet about their infidelity, as were the women they cheated with. No one blasted their illicit affairs over social media. After all, what sane person would?
Most of them didn’t even bring their closest friends into the loop. Some workplace liaisons were even so hush-hush not a single co-worker knew about it until a screaming wife showed up.
There was no pattern in the furtive relationships, either. Some were classics like banging the secretary, the nanny, or the hot divorcee neighbor. Some were star-crossed love affairs that started with innocent meetings in cafés, in parks, or in elevators.
Not a single thing connected each of them.
So, how did your killer pick their victims and know for sure they had the right ones?
“I think I’ve found something,” you said on the eleventh day of research and narrowed your eyes at your laptop screen as the others around the table looked up from their stack of files and glanced curiously at you.
“What did you find?” Beau asked first and got up from his seat to stand behind you, leaning his hands on the backrest of your chair. Sometimes, it felt like he wasn’t ashamed to use any excuse to be close to you, and it made your goddamn cheeks blush, your knees weak, and your heartbeat faster.
“So, apparently, some of our victims visited a site called ‘doublecross(dot)com.’ It’s a website where people who’ve been cheated on can exchange stories and seek comfort. Sixteen of our twenty-four victims all made an entry on the site’s forum. Some of them even went into great detail about their spouse’s supposed escapades.”
“What kinda detail?” Beau questioned more out of curiosity than anything else.
“‘His secretary still had his cum on her lips when I visited him at the office last week. Guess it’s a new chapstick trend no one told me about,’” you read one entry and glanced over your shoulder to catch Beau’s scrunched brow behind you. “That’s from a victim in Wyoming, Margaret Davies.”
He gasped in disbelief. “They wrote that on the internet? Why would they do that?”
“You’re such a guy,” Cassie teased him with a chuckle.
“Various reasons,” you answered his question. “Some wanted to rant, some just wanted listeners, some comfort, revenge ideas, advice… You name it.”
“Did all the victims post on the site?” Jenny asked next to you and leaned closer, looking at your screen.
“I haven’t checked them all yet, but so far, yes. The four victims in Montana did. As did two in Wyoming, four in Texas, and three in Utah and Colorado each,” you said.
“There were five victims per state, right?” Beau spoke up and mused, “We’re at four right now, so how long we got until the fifth?”
“She takes a victim every five weeks. Ten between states,” you told them.
“Alright, five victims, five states… So we’ve got three weeks left to find her,” Beau concluded with a determined nod. “What’s next?”
“First, we should find out if the remaining vics made accounts on that site as well. Then, we should crosscheck all the comments and replies on each entry and see if we have a common denominator. Maybe there’s a user who talked to every victim. That could be our killer,” you explained the next logical steps.
“Everyone takes four victims, and we cross-reference?” Cassie proposed, and everyone nodded in agreement. “Meanwhile, I’ll tell Denise to check if the other victims were on the site as well.”
“Fine.” Beau sighed dreadfully behind you and sauntered back to his seat. He hated paperwork. He was more of a “go in, guns blazing” kind of cop.
“We should keep this under wraps for now,” you advised. “Closest circle only. If I’m right, the killer is watching us. They can’t know we’re onto them, or they might spiral.”
“What about the DA?” Jenny asked.
You nodded. “I’ll meet with Newton next week and can clue her in. Let’s hope we find something till then.”
July 2022
A thin layer of sweat covered your entire body, your hair damp from the summer heat, beads forming in the nape of your neck and running down your spine. Your hand left a print behind on the fogged car window as you adjusted your grip. You always thought that was a movie cliché, only to be stunned and find out that it was indeed true.
The glass was cool for a brief moment, giving you the sensation you had craved as the heat made your head dizzy. It was not just insanely hot but downright sweltering.
“Fuck, I love that angle,” you sighed breathlessly as your cunt stroked his cock, rising your hips till he almost slipped out before you slid back down.
“Me too,” Beau groaned and smirked up at you.
Massive hands cupped your tits and held your waist as he fucked into you. Your thighs straddled him, one palm on his heart as you met him thrust by thrust. With one last roll of your hips, you came, your orgasm shaking your entire body to the point of passing out. An animalistic scream rocked the car.
Beau’s climax hit right behind yours as your pussy milked every drop of his. Pantingly, you dropped down, your hands finding better rest on his broad shoulders. He kissed your lips firmly and passionately as you both came down from your highs, his fingers dancing up and down your spine.
“Fuck, it’s hot,” you noted in breathless exhaustion as you laid your head on his chest, bodies sticking together.
“Yeah, I mean, I always knew we’d do it in the car at some point, but that even exceeded my expectations,” Beau said.
You laughed a little and grinned at him in amusement. “I meant the weather.”
“Oh.” His brows rose in realization, and he chuckled. “Yeah, that too.”
“I can’t believe this is our last night here,” you said with a quiet sigh. Your voice sounded almost sad. Probably because a part of you was.
While the circumstances of your Mexican stay were arguably the worst, you’d still miss it. The last one and a half years felt like a welcomed escape from reality. From your grief. At home, there was nothing and no one waiting for you anymore.
And then, there was the man who was currently underneath you, inside you, and kissing your lips. You didn’t know what you and Beau even were. You’d been entangled in bars, cars, and under stars in motel rooms for ten months now. Was it casual? Was it serious? Was it misguided friendship? Was it love?
You never said the words out loud or talked about your feelings, but there was always a certain heaviness in the air between you two. It was never loud. It always came in quiet moments, when you were kissing in bed and laughing and staring at each other for hours.
It felt like the two of you were caught in a bubble floating through time and space. A bubble, which was about to burst.
Could your relationship survive the reality back home?
“You okay there?” Beau had grown quite accustomed to your facial expressions and their different meanings. At this point, you were an open book to him, and he could read you flawlessly.
“I’m fine,” you replied and forced your best smile onto your lips.
Beau saw right through you. “Yeah, I’m a little sad, too,” he admitted and assured you, “Nothing’s gonna change, alright?”
Not trusting your voice, you simply nodded in response and hoped he’d stay right.
Beau debated whether he should be honest about his feelings, but it seemed too soon. Too soon after his divorce. Too soon after Randy’s death. No amount of time ever seemed to be enough.
What if you weren’t ready to hear it? What if he wasn’t ready to say it? What if the guilt in his heart, mind, and soul was right all this time and you were never his to take?
What if you would never belong to him at all?
After wiping the station’s whiteboard in the conference room clean, you wrote one single username on the surface.
femmefatale187
All of you had narrowed it down to that user. Denise had confirmed that the other eight victims had made accounts and written entries as well, which brought you to a total of twenty-four posts. And that particular user was the only one who had engaged with every single victim without fail.
Not only that, the comments even suggested a deeper relationship forming with all of them. The killer acted like their friend before a knife was aimed at their backs. If that user was indeed the killer, as Beau liked to remind you.
The four of you then had the tedious task of reading through every comment that account had ever made, going back years and several hundred user interactions. The one that piqued your interest the most, however, was the very first entry that had started it all.
“Does the number mean what I think it means?” Beau asked as he stared pensively at the whiteboard.
“Pretty sure. 187 is the code for murder in the California Penal Code. It’s gotta be. Otherwise, it’d be a weird coincidence,” you mused as you put the cap back onto the marker. “The name in general is pretty obvious. I don’t like any of this…”
“What d’you mean?” Cassie looked at you with a questioning brow.
“I mean she literally put ‘murder’ in her username. It’s too easy. It almost seems like she wants to be caught,” you explained.
“Like writing ‘redrum’ on the wall,” Beau muttered, and you pointed an eager finger at him, nodding in agreement.
“Exactly,” you said and sat back down in your chair. “I already gave everything to our tech analysts at the FBI. If she is as smart as we think she is, she hid her IP addresses and used VPNs, torrents… If they do find a name and an address this username is connected to, we should assume it’s a trap.”
“You said the first entry gives hints to her backstory,” Jenny spoke up and leaned forward in her chair. “Can we use it to track her down this way?”
Nodding, you rose from your seat once more and grabbed the marker, writing down some bullet points as you talked.
“Apparently, she was married and trying for a baby, but without any luck. She then caught her husband cheating but forgave him when he assured her it was a one-time mistake. Turns out he was actually sleeping with tons of women during their entire relationship and got five of ‘em pregnant. Meanwhile, she also discovered he’d been slipping her birth control pills in her coffee every morning.”
“Well, that guy probably won’t win ‘Husband of The Year,’” Beau quipped, chuckling, earning him a borderline scolding look from all three women.
“It’s probably why she chooses victims that ended up going back to their partner,” Cassie speculated.
“She’s punishing women that made the same mistakes she made,” Jenny concluded. “You think the husband is still alive?”
“Honestly? No,” you replied. “The username suggests she had already made up her mind when she started posting. I believe her husband and maybe the women he cheated with were her first victims.”
“Maybe we can find her that way?” Beau pondered.
“Would be a long shot. We don’t even know what state she’s from, when she was married, her husband’s name…” you explained. “Our best bet is the IP address of the username. Until that, we just gotta sit tight, I guess.”
“I hate that.” Beau sighed in frustration.
September 2022
When Beau’s lips left yours, you whined, your hands trying to keep him pressed flush against you, pulling him back into bed.
Beau chuckled. “We have to get up at some point.”
“Do we?”
“I have to get to work, and so do you,” he reminded you with a smile and pecked your lips once more. “How about you hop into the shower, and I get the coffee started, huh?”
“Fine. I guess I can be persuaded to leave this bed for caffeine,” you relented playfully. “Hey, uh, I was thinking maybe we could get dinner tonight? There’s this new pizza place I wanted to try.”
Beau swallowed, his head bobbing with a scrunched brow. Your heart twisted, only knowing too well by now what that expression meant.
“Yeah, uh, do they have take-out?”
“They do, but I figured we could go out for a change. Leave this apartment every once in a while,” you pressed.
Maybe you were being pushy, but you were getting tired of hiding. Ever since the two of you had left Mexico almost two months ago, you had been hauled up in Beau’s apartment and barely ever left. And whenever you did step out, you could tell he was nervous, always looking over his shoulder. He wouldn’t hold your hand or even touch you. The idea of kissing you in public would’ve probably sounded downright insane.
“Uhm, I don’t know. I don’t think it’s such a good idea,” he replied as expected and averted his green eyes to the floor.
“Houston has over two million other people, Beau. It’s very unlikely we’ll run into someone we know,” you argued calmly and tried to sound understanding of his feelings. It wasn’t like you didn’t get his inhibitions at all, but it still hurt your heart all the same. “If it’s Carla you’re worried about, maybe we should tell her, you know? It’d make things easier. It’s not like she’s still hung up on you. She’s been dating Avery for a year now.”
“Yeah, no, I know. We’ll get to it. I promise, okay?” Beau assured you with a smile and pecked your forehead, but his voice sounded far from convincing.
Ever since you came back to Houston, he’d been withdrawn, moving further and further away from you. You had a feeling, though, it had actually little to do with Carla and more with the guy both of you had loved.
Everywhere you went reminded you of him, his ghost still lingering around. But while you welcomed that feeling, like Randy was still watching over you, you knew Beau hated it.
He still blamed himself for what happened, no matter how many times you told him he shouldn’t. And now, the guilt of being with you had entered the equation as well.
As Beau brewed some coffee, a knock on his door forced him to leave the kitchen and answer it. As he opened it, he almost turned as white as the ghosts he was running from.
“Carla, what-, uh, what are you doing here?” Beau’s wide eyes probably showed his surprise. She’d never visited him here before in all those weeks since he’d been back. Emily was always dropped off by the building’s entrance, so he had thought himself safe here. Clearly, it’d been a false sense of security.
“Oh, Beau, don’t look so surprised. I’m not here to yell at you for having your laundry lying around,” Carla huffed in her annoyed voice. He knew that one well. “I’m not here to disturb your bachelor pad. I just need to talk to you about something important, okay?”
“It’s not a–” Beau started to argue and defend himself, but then stopped, figuring it was no use. They were already divorced. “We can talk, alright? But I’m running a little late for work. Can we do this tonight or something?”
“Alright, sure, I’ll call you at lunch,” Carla accepted, but then the sound of the shower turning off made her head tilt past him. Her brow furrowed before she let out an annoyed sigh. “Are you having someone over? Is that why you don’t wanna talk right now? Look, I don’t care if you’re seeing someone. We’ve been divorced for a year now, Beau. If we could just do this now, you’d both save us some time.”
Beau had tried several times to interrupt her, but he’d always been unsuccessful with that endeavor in the past. It was hard being married to a lawyer, especially a good one like Carla.
“Carla, no, I-… Can we please just do this tonight? I have to tell you something, too, okay? But I don’t wanna do this here right n–”
“Hey, by the way, we’re out of Pop Tarts,” you called out as you casually strolled out from the bathroom with only one of Beau’s button-ups covering your naked body. “We should go to the store la–”
As you passed the front door on your way to the kitchen, you stopped – both talking and walking. You stared at Carla like a deer in headlights and felt like Bambi’s mother shortly before she got shot.
The divorced couple stared right back at you. Beau’s eyes then closed as Carla’s lips parted in shock – and anger. She definitely looked furious.
“Carla, hey.” You forced a jittery smile to your lips, although all color drained from your cheeks. You almost choked on the giant lump in your throat.
Her eyebrows raised in disbelief before a scoff followed. She shook her head as if she wanted to shake the image of you, half-naked in her ex-husband’s shirt, in his apartment, out of her mind.
“You gotta be kidding me…” She smacked her lips with a seething glower aimed at her ex. “I’ll take it back. I do care who you’re fucking seeing.”
“Carla, listen–” Beau tried to calmly interject and keep the peace, even though he knew it was too late for that. He knew what she was thinking. They had several talks about it. Fights, actually. Fights you knew nothing about.
“I knew it!” Carla exclaimed and felt almost validated. “All this time I knew… I knew you two hooked up in Mexico. I asked you several times if there was something going on, and you kept denying it.”
“And I’m still denying it,” Beau maintained with the same firm anger she was showing. “We didn’t start dating until after the divorce.”
“Oh, and I’m supposed to believe that? How stupid do you think I am?” she snapped. “You know, I came here to talk to you about Emily’s future and give you the courtesy of having a say in the decision, but now I don’t think you should. Not after the shit you pulled all year! I put up with a lot from you – the drinking, the spacing out, the disappearing to another country for months… But I draw the line here!”
“Carla, wait–”
But for once in his life, Beau couldn’t speak fast enough as she bolted down the hallway to the elevator and was soon out of earshot. He glanced back at you, his look halfway asking if you were okay after witnessing all of this, and partially asking if he could follow his ex-wife to clear things up.
“Go,” you told him and nodded in understanding. But your heart twinged as you watched him leave.
When everyone had filtered out of the department and the night shift arrived, you knocked on Beau’s office door to announce your presence before peeking your head inside.
“Hey.” You smiled softly when his crinkled green eyes found yours with the same loving look on his face. “Ready to head home?”
His palms drummed on the table, one last glance at the files on his desk before he rose from his chair with a keen nod. “Uh, yeah, let’s go, darlin’.”
As you approached his desk, you chuckled a little, picking up the familiar football, a myriad of memories flooding your brain. “I can’t believe you still got this thing. Same one?” You doubted he’d thrown it away but found yourself still wondering.
“Course, I’d never toss this old thing out.” He smiled and caught it when you playfully threw it at him. His palms pressed into the leather. “I still do it, you know? When I’m stuck on a case, I grab the ball and pretend I’m still throwing it around with Randy, spittin’ theories.”
Your lips curved into a gentle smile. “Yeah, I still do it, too… talk to him.”
“You do that a lot?” Beau scratched his throat, tucking his lips between his teeth as he found himself curiously cocking his head, hoping the gesture hid the worry underneath well enough.
You shrugged. “Sometimes. Not as often as I used to,” you confessed and ignored the drops of guilt that oozed from your heart. “He was a part of my life for a decade. I can’t pretend he wasn’t.”
Beau swallowed at your words, his brow braided into soft crinkles. He struggled with the truth that festered in his heart like snake venom. The guilt of having you was one thing, but the shame of always wanting to have had you was another. If he had seen you first, if he hadn’t been married when you’d met, if he had asked you, would you have picked him?
“I know. And I don’t want you to think you can’t talk to me about it… him.”
You closed the distance between you, taking his hands in yours and interlacing your fingers. You squeezed them reassuringly. “He’d want us to be happy,” you reminded him and then snorted a bit in amusement. “Maybe not with each other, but the dead don’t get a say in it anymore, so it doesn’t matter. He’s my past. You’re my present… And probably my future?” Bashfully, you bit your lip at the end of your question, a smile carved into it.
“Actually about that…”
Playfully, you raised your brow and laughed. “Uh-oh.”
Beau cracked a laugh, too. “No, nothing like that. Never like that again, alright?” He cupped your cheeks in his warm and safe hands, looking deeply into your eyes as he uttered those words like an unbreakable vow, his raspy voice imparting a comforting promise.
You nodded in his hands and stretched up to kiss him, searing and slow. “So, what do you wanna tell me, Sheriff?”
“Date,” was the only word he said at first. A smile formed on his face that reached his eyes. “I wanna do it right this time. Go out, do stuff, live life. That was my biggest regret when it came to you. I don’t wanna make the same mistake twice,” he shared. His lips claimed yours, adventurous and decisive. “So, you and me ain’t going home. We’re going out. Whatever you’re in the mood for, darlin’.”
With mischievously pursed lips, you pondered your choices for a moment, although only one truly came to mind. “Mmmh, Mexican.”
“Ah! I knew it.” Beau grinned broadly. “I know a great place. Amazing Quesadillas. You’re gonna love it.”
September 2022
Beau hadn’t spoken to you in almost two weeks. After chasing Carla down to the street and having a public argument on the sidewalk that turned several heads, he eventually convinced Carla that nothing had happened during their marriage and calmed her down enough.
Then, they talked for another hour, where his ex-wife informed him of her engagement and her impending move to Montana. She also made it quite clear that he had no say in the decision, especially after that particular morning.
He wasn’t delighted about it by any means, but he accepted it. As long as Emily was happy and taken care of, he didn’t care what Carla did. But the fact he wouldn’t be seeing much of his daughter killed him.
As he trudged back to the elevator, he came back to an empty apartment, however. You were gone, only leaving a note behind that said you had to get to work. He couldn’t really blame you for leaving. The morning already hadn’t started well, and then his ex showed up with a package full of drama on top of that.
Beau constantly felt like he was failing and disappointing you. He knew you were unhappy since the two of you had come home to Houston. But it was hard for him being back here. He fought his feelings for you every minute of every day. And then, the anniversary of Randy’s death rolled around, and he felt himself even more spacing out and withdrawing from you.
He never tried to compare himself to Randy, because any attempt to live up to him would’ve been futile. But Beau felt like the second choice. Like he didn’t deserve you. Like you weren’t truly his and never would be.
You never said or did anything to make him believe that. On the contrary, the way you looked at him made his heart melt every single day. You treated him like one in a million. You cared for him, listened to him, and even though you had never said it, he knew you loved him on some level.
You made him feel like he was the one.
Beau knew it was all in his head, but it felt like a lie. Because how could that be after everything he’d seen? After everything he knew? And in the brief moments when it didn’t feel like a lie, it felt like the biggest betrayal.
No matter what, he couldn’t win.
For two weeks, he was plagued by indecision, guilt, confusion, the need to do the right thing, and his feelings for you.
Beau loved you like he’d never loved anyone before, but it felt like a slow poison that rotted him from the inside.
He called and texted you every day, never sure what to say or do, though. He almost felt relieved whenever you came up with an excuse for why you couldn’t see him. That was his first warning sign that things needed to change.
And by the end of the two weeks, the indecision faded, and he’d arrived at a conclusion.
That final night, Beau had called you, and you told him you were working late at the office. That wasn’t true, though. He could see the lights of your apartment were on when he stood on the street outside. So, he knocked and found your surprised face in front of him before you averted your gaze in shame.
He didn’t fault you for that either, though.
“Beau, I-, uhm…”
“It’s fine,” he said gently, knowing you were about to apologize for your little white lie. And it was fine. He knew why you’d been avoiding him. “Can I come in? We need to talk.”
He hated saying those words. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what they meant. It was universally understood. And by the look on your face, he knew that you were aware of why he was here.
You let him inside with a crestfallen nod of your head, crossing your arms in front of you like you were trying to hug yourself as you prepared for the worst. The two of you then stood silently in your foyer for a minute, the air between you punishing.
“So this it, huh?” your voice bitterly broke the silence. The hurt in your eyes and the coldness in your face tore his heart apart.
As soon as he looked at you, he started to doubt his decisions again. Was this really the right thing to do? Would he regret it? Would he hate himself for it?
His best guess was yes.
“Look, uhm, this is hard. I didn’t make this decision lightly,” he started.
“Just get it over with, Beau. Spit it out,” you bit.
Nodding, he scratched his scruffy throat. “Carla’s getting married and moving to Montana. I can’t be this far away from Emily. I wanna see her grow up,” he explained earnestly.
“Makes sense. So you’re moving,” you deduced. “What d’you want from me?”
“It’s more complicated than that,” he said. That was where the lie came in. His heart pounded against his ribcage, demanding to be freed from its prison, but Beau kept it cuffed and jailed until it broke. “I’m still in love with Carla. I have to get my family back before it’s too late. It’s just-… It’s the best for all of us, you know?”
With a harsh swallow, you nodded, your gaze glued to the floorboards underneath your socks. “Yeah, no, I get it. You should go with your family. ‘S okay.”
“Y/N–” Your name fell from his lips in a pained sigh.
“No, really. We’re good,” you tried to assure him, forcing a tight-lipped smile to your doleful face. “It was nice while it lasted, but now it’s over. I get it. We were just each other’s rebound. It didn’t mean anything, right?”
Your look was full of bitterness as you stared at him, your features haunted by agony and hardened by resentment. It broke his heart all over again.
Yet, there was no turning back.
“Yeah,” he choked out, swallowing the tears down that fought to escape. “It didn’t mean anything. It was just a distraction. For both of us.”
“Glad we’re on the same page,” you said with all the remaining power left in you.
Beau tried to compel a smile to his lips, but it was only a sorry excuse of one. “Hope we can stay friends.”
“Sure.” You held the same unconvincing smile as you uttered your lie. Then, you strolled to the still-open door and leaned your back against the wood. A gesture that told him it was time to leave. “You should go now. I might have lied about the office, but I still have a shitload of work to do.”
With his head low, he walked past you, each step of his lethargic, heavy, and reluctant. As soon as he crossed that doorstep, he spun, his eyes finding yours one last time. Every ounce of him wanted to grab you and kiss you till you both stopped breathing.
But he didn’t.
Silently, you closed the door, a piece of meaningless and unforgiving wood between you that both of you stared at for several relentless heartbeats. You waited till you heard his footsteps recede farther and farther away from you. Till there was just empty space.
As the harrowing silence consumed the air in your lungs and the love in your heart, you fell to the floor and shattered. Sobs wrecked your body like an incurable disease, and you knew at that moment you could never caulk the cracks again and return to who you were.
Chapter 6: Curses And Cries

the line about logan roy not being able to fit a whole woman in his head being said from his own daughter is so. something about daughters and their fathers something about daughters who are their father’s child something about daughters who are daddy’s little favorite daddy’s little girl but the second they start having opinions and the second they start talking back, the father holds their daughter out with open hostility and suspicion, something about how only years later will the father occasionally go, do you remember? do you remember when we used to have good days, when you used to come to me with all your wonders and your worries, do you remember when we were stuck together like glue, what happened to that and the daughter just has to give her father a rueful smile as though she hasn’t been wondering why her father built up that wall in the first place as though she hadn’t been wondering since when did her father only ever said good morning to her brothers as though she hadn’t been wondering since when did her father only ever ask her brothers to accompany him to work and something about shiv roy saying my father couldn’t fit a whole woman in his head and something about shiv roy still crying the most when she learned that her father was dead something about how shiv roy called her father the world and yet something about how shiv roy still asks her father’s closest male confidants if he was really that bad, was my father still an okay guy when they all know the truth, they all know he wasn’t a good person, but shiv roy still remembers playing outside her father’s office just to get him to come out and shiv roy still remembers her father telling her to remember, slant of light and ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh fathers and their daughters daughters and their fathers or whatever
#caroline watches tv#succession#can't believe this show is ending next week. maybe i'll be free#truly i think whatever tf is going on between shiv and logan's relationship#is the only other father-child relationship in tv that has made me want to eat cement in the same way#that joo won and han ki hwan's relationship in beyond evil makes me want to eat cement#except at least with shiv and logan. you SAW the tenderness between them sometimes#logan has a nickname for shiv. logan is the one to tell shiv to come into the company#logan is the one to tell shiv 'my daughter. my only daughter' in a way that makes me cry#logan is the one to tell shiv she is marrying a man beneath her in one breath but then he holds her hand#and says 'he's a good man.'#logan is the one to show up at shiv's wedding but he doesn't care to show up to connor's#something about mothers who tell their daughters 'you may hate your dad but you are going to cry the hardest when he dies'#something about shiv's mother being so annoyed with shiv at all hours#something about mothers who hate their daughters because they know that their daughters are 'stealing' their husbands away#which is such. a sickening sickening concept but the fact that this is genuinely how some women feel#anyways. ughughghghghh whatever. whatever.#something about how shiv is the one who i think has been hurt the most from her father#(i still haven't forgotten about that one scene in season one. that still haunts me jfc)#but at the same time. she's the one who's sobbing on the floor#and she's the one who literally schedules her grief#she's the one who just keeps going 'my dad is DEAD he is DEAD'#just like. every time i see shiv roy contemplating her father's death i hear kill bill alarm sirens in my head#just. Dead Serious
4/4
Danny had made peace with the fact he did not have a soulmate. He had! After several years of no response to the countless drawings and writing notes on his skin, he had grown resigned to the fact that he was part of the 5% who did not have soulmates. He was fine with that.
(Dash would tease him about how no one would ever love him, adding salt to an already irritated wound. His parents were soulmates, and he remembered when he was drawing on his father’s arms and watching as it appeared on his mother’s. Jazz had been drawing and writing to her soulmate for years. Her soulmates name was Jason, and she always talked about how he was with her. She was one of the few people who comforted him when he stopped drawing or writing to soulmate. )
Damien taught at an early age that there was no use for soulmates. They were only distractions. He knew grandfather had no soulmate, and his mother had never responded to her own. He never responded to the drawings on his arms notes the notes in English on his (and he didn’t try harder just because he wanted to read his soulmate writing that would be ridiculous.)
Damien never told his family about having a soulmate. Even as he slowly got used to the differences between them and slowly learned how his grandfather was he could never bring himself to respond to the slowly lessening drawings and messages.(He couldn’t bring himself to respond because deep down he knew he didn’t deserve a soulmate. He was a monster, a demon. He didn’t deserve it.)
Danny stopped trying so desperately to contact his soulmate at age 11(the age he held his sister as she cried, her soulmate’s last message scribbled in desperate frantic writing on her arm. He never resented his parents so much when they didn’t even leave the lab for two days, not paying any mind to their sobbing child on the floor above them.)(it was the first time he didn’t envy having a soulmate.)
He was fourteen when he started drawing on his arms again.(it was shaky, much more than the older drawings, but even if he didn’t have a soulmate, he wanted to leave them a mark, just in case, the same way Jazz wrote quotes from different books on her arms.)
(When he found out Vlad didn’t have a soulmate, he refused to acknowledge another similarity they shared. He refused to think about how Vlad’s desperation made Danny think of his own desperate writing for his soulmate. Soulmates were a topic he never spoke of, and Vlad must have known, must have found out about how Danny didn’t have one, but he never commented on it. (It was the only boundary that was never crossed.))
(Damian wasn’t disappointed when his soulmate stopped writing to him. he didn’t trace over his arms, wishing that he had the confidence to write back. He didn’t spend hours wondering if his soulmate was gone without knowing Damian had seen him. He didn’t trace over the drawings his soulmate made with awe after four years of silence.)
Damian always covered up, so he was the only one who noticed when his soulmate started writing to him again. Never sentences never notes like they were before, but shaky drawings appeared on his skin. They were less detailed than before, almost shaky, as if the person drawing them couldn’t hold a pencil, steady, but they were real. Damian never said a word.
It was October 15 when Damien saw something on his arms that made his blood go cold. A message that he read over and over while commandeering the plane and ignoring the rest of his family yelling for him to explain himself. He desperately calibrated the jet while staring at the words, praying to a God he did not believe in that he would not be too late.(Unaware that Todd was following going in the same direction with the similar message written on his arm from a girl that Jason had deemed too good for him.)
Dear soulmate, even if you aren’t there. Everyone in Casper high is writing on their arms and I might as well try to warn someone. I am from Amity Park, Illinois, and we are under attack. The GIW have cut all outside communication. We are currently hiding in Casper high school, barricading the entrances, but it will not last long.
According to the government, we are not legally sentient or human. The agents outside want to dissect us, citing that we are scum. I don’t want to see my classmates die at the hands of my parents. I don’t want to see my friends and my sister die.
I don’t know if you are there, or if I really don’t have a soulmate, but I don’t want to die (fully) without leaving some sort of note.
My name is Danny. I love you. I’m sorry.

Sharkboy and his Shadow
Percy Jackson x fem! reader
Background: reader is the only child of Nyx, and has grown up with Percy. After being claimed, lots of kids are afraid of her, and reader feels alone. To 'help' Percy see the error of his ways, Luke and Annabeth come up with a plan.
_ _ _
"(Y/N) (L/N), daughter of Nyx, the Personification of Night, and Queen of Tartarus."
Ever since that day, (Y/N) had never felt so alone.
She grew up with Percy, always being by his side, and she felt lucky enough to see him be claimed by Poseidon. She was happy for him, and understood his rage at the same time.
But when she was claimed? There were no kids staring in awe or clapping or congratulations. There were only whispers amongst them, and stares of horror.
Because no one ever thought that Nyx would have a half-blood child.
She's Nyx. She keeps to herself, away from the affairs of Olympus and mortals.
So no one wanted to make friends with the forbidden girl.
Luke was still friendly, but it became obvious that he wasn't interested in being friends like before. Annabeth, however, still stayed by her side. She was the only one to congratulated her, and decided to explain to (Y/N) what this means now.
Not only was being a child of The Big Three forbidden, but being a daughter of Nyx? That meant more danger for everyone, and she'd become the main target for any monster who wanted her dead.
And to top it all off, she thinks Percy is avoiding her.
She hadn't seen him since she'd been claimed. She had seen him briefly during most days, but when she'd look and see him staring, he'd quickly move his gaze to the ground or the sky.
"If I thought that being a half-blood was so lonely, I'd never have come."
Annabeth felt bad for the girl, "it's not a choice, (Y/N). Nyx chose your dad for a reason."
"And yet all she's sent me is a fucking knife!"
(Y/N) yelled as she threw the dagger her mother sent her into the fire. Annabeth gasped, quickly retrieving the dagger with a stick.
The black dagger hadn't been damaged.
Before Annabeth could lecture the girl on damaging gifts from your Godly parent, she saw the tears in her eyes.
(Y/N) was angry. She'd been so angry that she started sobbing, sinking to the floor of her own empty cabin. Annabeth held her.
"I miss my dad," She sobbed, hiccuping, "I'm so alone. . .I miss Percy."
"Seaweed brain," Annabeth cursed.
Annabeth knew why Percy had been avoiding her.
Because he liked her.
Percy confessed this to Annabeth. He said he knew how important being claimed was to her. How she'd be the most sought after half-blood now.
And feared endangering her if he stayed too close.
"Tell you what?" Annabeth pulled away, "tomorrow, we'll have a girls night. I'll take you to Aphrodite cabin, and Silena will do your hair and dress you up."
She sniffled, "I doubt any of those girls want me there."
Oh, Aphrodite girls were secretly cheering (Y/N) on. They knew the consequences of having a powerful female figure in your life, but one that chose to never be present much.
"Silena does, and whatever she wants, the girls will follow."
(Y/N) didn't get much sleep that night, tears coming and going, and she only managed to find sleep when she thought of how Percy used to hold her. When they'd have sleepovers and she'd have a nightmare, Percy would always hold her until they fell asleep.
That's why she thought she was holding herself.
But her eyes deceive her.
With wide eyes, she jumped up but her head banged into the top bunk. The mystery boy awoke, asking if the girl was okay.
"Luke?! When did you-?! How?!"
"You're bleeding, (Y/N)," Luke ignored her sudden panic, helping the daughter of Nyx up. She checked her head and found some blood.
"What the fuck. . ."
Luke quickly dragged her to the infirmary, but not without notice. The few half bloods that were awake gasped, seeing Luke Castellan leaving the Nyx Cabin with (Y/N) in his arms.
And so did Percy.
"Hey, hey! What happened?" Percy called after them, catching up but hearing Percys' sudden urgency made her want to cry. He's been avoiding her for two weeks, but now he's worried?
"Put your hand on my shoulder," Luke whispered to her, and she gave him a look of confusion.
"Just do it, pretty girl," With an awkward blush, she nodded and, as a result, pushed herself closer into his chest.
"She hit her head. She'll be fine, go tell Chiron," Luke dismissed, leaving Percy with more questions than he had answers.
Why was Luke in her cabin? When did he get there? Why were you hurt?
Did he spend the night?
That last thought made the son of poseidon wish he hadn't been avoiding you all this time. It made him angry with himself that he let Luke become interested in you.
"So why were you in my room, Luke?" (Y/N) asked, holding an ice pack on her throbbing head.
"I left early this morning to check on you, and I know that Percy wanted to do that this morning. So, I figured that sharkboy might get a little jealous if he saw me in your bed," He explained with a shrug.
"Jealous?" She questioned with a scoff, "he's been avoiding me like the plague since I've been claimed."
"Did you think that because you've been claimed that he's avoiding you, or that he's avoiding you because he's scared he'll attract more monsters to you?"
"Luke, I don't have time-"
He cut her off, "it's bad enough that Percy got claimed the second day he got here. He's a forbidden child. Now, the girl he's been crushing on since diapers is the number one target of every monster out there."
"He. . .he doesn't like me like that," I said, feeling my face heat up.
Luke quirked his brow, "that's seriously what you got out of that?"
Despite her frustration and anger towards Percy, she could never despise him so much that her feelings would fade. She still cared about him and ultimately feared that her feelings couldn't be reciprocated.
"Look, if he doesn't seem interested or even the slightest bit jealous, I'll let you know," Luke knew Percy well.
In fact, Luke endured countless hours of listening to how Percy adored (Y/N). How Percy first realized that she wasn't just his best friend, or at least that's not what he wanted her to be. He wanted to be the one she sought out each morning - be the one she could lean on. As capable as she was, he still wanted to help her as much as he could.
He'd lift the entire weight of this off her shoulders if she asked.
(Y/N) had the beauty of the stars and Percy could spend the rest of his life happily staring at her.
"Okay," She nodded.
_ _ _
"Wait, I have two different outfits?"
"Of course!" Silena expressed, bringing out the second one, "this one is for our picnic tonight."
It was a gorgeous white dress that sagged off the shoulders, flowy and the top decorated with several types of flowers.
"Oh, okay," (Y/N) nodded, completely unaware that there would be no girls' night.
Just a really good plan to help force these desperate lovebirds together.
"If this doesn't get him staring, then he's blind," Silena concluded before popping on some lip gloss onto the daughter of Nyx. She could admit, she looked very pretty but her stomach became a bundle of nerves when thinking about how Percy may either ignore her and or she'd finally unblind herself to the longing looks of the son of Poseidon.
She walked out of Aphrodite cabin right as lunchtime came, and she received multiple stares as she made her way.
"How's your day been?" Luke came up behind her, swinging his arm around her shoulders.
"Honestly I still think you're crazy," She confessed, "Percy doesn't-"
He pecked her cheek without warning before whispering, "Look ahead".
And she has never seen Percy look so angry.
He clenched his tray with the fury of a God, denting it even as she looked at him. He quickly looked away, retreating back to his cabin.
Oh my God's. . .
"Percy likes me."
"Now, tonight-where are you going?!" Luke shouted as she chased after him.
She flung the door open to see his sea blue eyes filled with tears. "Oh Percy."
"I'm sorry I haven't talked to you," He immediately confessed, walking towards her, "I would never be scared of you. I'm scared of what my presence will bring to us. I'm already a target, and I didn't want to risk your safety. But I let Luke get close enough to. . ." He stared into her eyes, "I've liked you since we were eight, and I'm sorry I let my thoughts get ahead of my feelings."
"It wasn't my idea," She couldn't stand to see her sweet boy cry, "Annabeth wanted to make you jealous, make you regret ignoring me, but I didn't believe that you liked me. I never thought that you saw me as anything more than a friend."
(Y/N) grabbed his hands, "I like you, Percy. Gods, I've liked you since the first time you shared your mom's cookies with me. You're so kind, you're selfish beyond any God, and you're the sweetest. I was scared that my mother being Nyx might have pushed you away."
His hand came up to her face, "not even the Gods above could separate the two of us."
His eyes glanced between her eyes and lips, hesitating.
"Kiss me, Percy Jackson."
And he did.
The kiss was something out of a movie. She could feel the amount of love he had for her, one hand remaining on her cheek while the other held her hand. She leaned into him, and he seemed to chase her lips as she pulled away for air.
"Not everyone can breathe underwater," She reminded him with a smile.
"I think we might lose a friend tonight," Percy said, and (Y/N) frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"Luke put his lips on my girl. I'll provoke single combat," He pulled out riptide, and her eyes widened.
He gave her a quick kiss on her lips, "if you don't see me tonight, I'm drowning him."
"Percy!" He ignored her calls as he ran outside, running straight towards Luke, who laughed before realizing that Percy wasn't stopping and started running too.
"Is that Percy?" Grover asked as she walked outside, hearing the shouts coming from the forest of Luke trying to calm down Percy.
"Yup. Call Chiron, he might water board Luke."
But after Chiron managed to stop Percy, they spent the rest of the night in his cabin exchanging kisses and unexpectedly receiving a gift from her mother.
"What's this?" She questioned as the owl flew off, the small package being addressed to both Percy and her.
"From your mom, it looks like," He opened it up, and a necklace with a Triton pendant fell out. Just as he picked it up, it transformed into a black Triton that was covered in black shadows.
"Holy shit!" Percy breathed out as (Y/N) grabbed the note that fell out.
"Oh Gods," seeing her reaction, he bent down and read the note.
"Oh," He observed the Triton, "well. . .at least we know she cares."
Break my daughters heart and I'll kill you with that very Triton,
From your mother, Nyx.

Here is a little funny idea? How would the monster trio (also Ace or Usopp or Sabo or Law) react to their girlfriend jokingly say “you’re definitely wearing that for our wedding” (or something like that) if she saw them wearing a fancy suit (or whatever?)😅
Whew okay this was HARD and only because I love Ace so much and I wanted to perfect his part and it stressed me tf out. Anyways I hope you enjoy!
One piece- How they react when you say “You should wear that to our wedding”
Warnings: a little suggestive on Zoro and Usopp. Aces has his insecure angsty thoughts.
Charcters- Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Law, Sabo, and Ace
Luffy- “wedding? What are you talking about?” He looks puzzled. We can’t get married yet! I have to be king of the of the pirates first dummy!”
It’s definitely second on his list. Once he’s titled king the next thing to do is make you his wife obviously (and queen of the pirates)
In a way it’s celebratory of this new chapter in his life. A new title, a new job, new way of life and a new step in your relationship all at once sounds like a good idea to him.
Zoro- “wedding? What are you talking about you crazy woman?”
“Excuse me! It was a simple joke! All I was really saying is that you look amazing but now I take it back since you want to be an ass!” You retort. You did mean it, the idea of seeing him at the altar with that tight black suit was clouding your mind, but now that he was rude about it you don’t want to give him the satisfaction!
“An ass? You’re the one throwing that shit on me out of nowhere! Who says that so casually anyway!?” You hadn’t noticed before.. but maybe the reason Zoro became so flustered has something to do with how red his face his. ‘Is he.. no he can’t be’ you think.
“Zoro.. are you blushing?”
“OF COURSE IM NOT!”
“Zoro you’re blushing! At the thought of marrying me? Oh, who knew you could be such a little sap!”
“Shut up! You’re lucky I tolerate you at all!” He yells back. He’s trying his best to seem uncaring, cool, and calm but it’s not working. Secretly, or really not as secretly as he would like, the idea of seeing you in a pretty dress and then taking you home after to start the honeymoon makes his body hot. He thinks arguing with you will make him forget about it.. but he also forgets he kind of likes it when you fight with him ;)
Sanji- This man melts to the damn floor. He’s both in shock and utter euphoria. He’s a little puddle on the ground, holding onto your ankles, mumbling about “I can’t believe im so lucky, so loved, this is the best day of my life” but in a second he’s back to his feet, shoving his face so close to yours his chin hairs are tickling you. “My love, tell me you’re joking I can’t handle this.”
Once you explain that you do in fact want to marry him someday he starts bawling. “Okay then we need to start planning now. I assume you’ll be wearing white, I’ll wear white too of course. We need to pick the flowers. Roses are always a good choice they’re a symbol of love but so overdone maybe we should do lilies.. oh but-“
“Sanji!” You yell. “I said SOMEDAY not immediately right now! And how are you speaking so fast while sobbing you need to sit down!”
But he doesn’t. Now that you said it it’s all he can think about and will not stop planning and talking about it and driving you crazy until the day you’re at that fucking altar and you better believe he’s making it the most beautiful and spectacular wedding you ever saw.
Usopp- Usopp goes red. A red you’ve never even seen before he’s so flustered. “W-wedding? Like- marriage? Like-you marrying me?” You tilt your head to the side a little confused and bemused at the same time.
“Well, Honey… we have been together for a long time.. I assumed we would get married one day. And again, when we do you HAVE to wear that.” You walked up to the shivering man and lock your arms around his neck. “Maybe not for too long though.. seeing how it looks.. I might not be able to stop myself from-“
“OKAY Y/N! That’s enough for now! I can’t handle any more of your flirting!”
You would think he’d be used to it by now 🤷♀️
Sabo- “Oh? How forward of you y/n” he smirks. He’s looking deep into your eyes, the most adoring look on his face. “Am I to presume this is your way of proposing? I mean I wanted to be the one to do it, but how can I resist when my beautiful girl is the one doing it? I guess I’ll have to give you this so you can do it right.” Sabo digs in his pockets for a moment before pulling out a small square box. He’s a smart man. He knew a long time ago that he was going to marry you. He was just waiting for the right time to ask.
Law- Man CHOKES on air for a second and has to fight for his life to regain composure.
Of course you would think of marriage. That’s a very normal sequence of a relationship. You meet, become friends, date, and then.. well he honestly hadn’t considered it. Law liked how things were. He didn’t see a reason to change it. Law liked staying up late to wait for your knock on the office door, you peeking your head in and asking if he’s busy. Of course he was busy, he was always busy, but he liked when you would intrude, when you’d ask how his studying was going and he really liked when you would push the book away and slide into his lap to spend the rest of the night kissing him all over.
Remembering all these nights brings a smile to his face. He knew he’d be an idiot to let that go. Maybe having those nights for the rest of his life wouldn’t be horrible.
Ace- After hearing those words from your mouth Ace freezes in place and for the first time in his life, Ace is praying to gods he didn’t believe in and begging them to keep you close to him for as long as possible.
When Ace first asked you to be his girlfriend he had a hard time believing that you said yes. It was like he was dreaming and has been dreaming ever since. The thought of you wanting more, a marriage, is unfathomable to him at first.
It would be a lie to say he’s never thought about it, but the times he has only broke his heart. “Don’t kid yourself” he’d think. “There’s no way she’ll stay with me that long. It’s only a matter of time before she realizes I don’t deserve her. That I’m not worthy of her love. That there has to be someone better for her out there.”
Overall what mattered to Ace most is that you’re happy. “No matter how little, any time would be enough with her” he often thought to himself. At least he got to touch you, kiss you, make you smile. He cherishes every second as much as he can. Anytime you throw your head back in laughter, anytime you kissed him, anytime you said “I love you.” he knew these would be the moments he would look back on when he thought of you. On those days where he’s missing you a little more and you’re long gone with the actual love of your life.
So for you to bring up marrying him so casually sent his brain into overdrive. It would take Ace a few minutes to realize you had actually said that, and that he wasn’t hallucinating. It’s truly hard for him to comprehend that you love him so much. He would ask if you were joking at least five times before it really settled in. Once it did he would be elated, jumping around like a little kid, his mouth moving a mile a minute going on about how much he loves you and planting kisses on every seeable inch of skin.
Ace finally stops jumping around like an excited puppy to pull you in closer. He reaches his warm, strong arms around you and pulls you in closer. With a final kiss on your cheek, Ace rests his head on your shoulder.
“You’d marry me?” He’d ask looking up with a goofy grin.
“Ace.. we’ve been dating for forever and I love you.. why wouldn’t I want to marry you someday?”
That was all Ace needed. He’s running to the nearest town to sell everything on his body if he needs to. He doesn’t care the cost, he needs a ring and needs it now. Ace now has to propose as soon as possible.
Now that he knows you’d actually marry him he’s locking you down before you get the chance to rethink…not that you ever would.

CRIME AND PUNISHMENT ? ! — ft. sub ftm! doflamingo, dom! top reader, sadist reader, masochistic slut doffy. heavy dub-con, humiliation kink, bondage, degradation, gagging, fingering, collars, pussy-slapping, loss of virginity. a small halloween gift <3
donquixote doflamingo, the most wretched, most insane, most despicable man to set foot in this world, completely at your mercy. you had played your role well as the most obedient plaything he has ever owned — only to ambush him when he was least expecting it.
you have him gagged, clapped in seastone cuffs, and strapped firmly onto a table with his pants pulled down, exposing his wet, leaking pussy. he mewls when you swipe a finger down his swollen slit, rubbing between his folds, syrupy slick dribbling down your hand in copious amounts.
“how does it feel, doffy?” you murmur, casually wiping his slick on his ass to coat it with a slight sheen. “being someone’s toy?”
filthy, you think. doflamingo’s hands have pressed countless bruises into your skin, each one branding you with his possession and ownership. the collar around your neck had chaffed and choked you as he had tugged you around like you were nothing but a puppet, a being meant to serve and entertain your master.
you had bled for his strings, his dirt and filth. you had bled too much for the same man who laid before you, bent over and humiliated.
oh, how you loathe him.
"well, doffy?"
doflamingo whines pathetically against his gag, shaking his head in denial. the collar he once forced you to wear is now safely secured around his neck, and you curl your fingers around it and tug, a grin splitting your face at the sound of him choking and whimpering from the sudden pressure on his windpipe.
“haah. you lying little psychopath. well. at least your cunt likes it.” you smirk, fingers sliding down the curve of his ass to sink into his sopping hole again. “but then again…" you trail off, leaning down as if you were speaking directly to his twitching cunt, "who would’ve thought someone as depraved as you would own such a pretty pussy, mm?”
he shakes his head again, helplessly struggling against the seastone binds, drool trickling down his chin and neck to form a small puddle on the table. irked by his silence, you pull your fingers out roughly, slapping his pussy, and he screams, legs shaking and jerking forward with a shuddering cry.
“answer me when i’m talking to you, slut.”
he nods obediently, snivelling with tears streaming down his face, and it was euphoric to see your captor like this, trembling like a bitch in heat. the things you would give to see him like this for the rest of your life, bent to your every word and whim. oh, well. you would have plenty of time for that later, you suppose, to see if the puppeteer can dance as well as his puppets.
“she ever been fucked before, doffy?” you jerk your chin, gesturing to the wet mess that is his cunt.
he shakes his head quickly, letting out a full-body shiver in anticipation of your words. he gasps at the sound of a belt being unbuckled and falling to the floor, the dirty ‘pap’ of something hot and wet tapping against his entrance.
“wanna try?"
it wasn’t a question, but he makes a strangled, desperate noise, looking at you over his shoulder like he wants to say something: his last words before you forcefully take his virginity. licking your lips, you pull down his soaked gag, smearing spit across his chin and neck.
“please, i’ll do anything,” is the first thing he sobs out, voice shaking. “please fuck my slutty pussy.”
masterlist!

i woke up one afternoon to discover my body was transformed into that of a pig. though it was shocking, my family loved me despite this, and fed me lots of yummy slop. I lost pieces of my humanity with every day that passed, and I began to lose my sense of shame as well. This resulted in me often shitting where I stood, and blatantly going into erstrus when the time came. My parents, still believing me to be a real person, and not swine, were disgusted, and ashamed, and scolded me any time I "misbehaved". Until the day came along, one day, when my mother looked deep into my eyes and could not find a single trace of the human soul within them. I saw her turn around to the other room and heard her sobbing, though it elicited no response from me. Heartbroken, she had a conference with the rest of my family, and they decided to spare themselves the pain of having to look at me, and sell me to the Farmer as a meat pig. I went with him peacefully, aware of my fate, but not caring. The farmer did not know that I used to be human, so after I became fit to slaughter, maybe even substantially larger beyond that, he did so without ceremony. I was butchered as part of a special order, with my entire carcass shaved and washed, organs washed and placed back within, and sold to one man, who paid a hefty price. He brought me to his house after a long time spent in a, somewhat dingy ice chest in the back of his pickup truck, dragged inside, and cooked me in a large oven. My meat looked tender on the inside, yet was perfectly browned and crisp on the outside. Potatos and other starchy vegetables were cooked in the same pan, with a good amount of butter, as my body, the fat that was rendered and dripped off of me treating them well. When I was done cooking, instead of dressing me up, and putting me on a table, he put me and the cooking dish on the floor. This made me curious. I figured that he would be eating me, or a group of people, but thinking back on it, I heard no other humans than him this whole time, nor any footsteps. He whistled and called, and after some time an extremely large pig slowly slid itself along the floor into view. When it reached me, it didnt hesitate to begin eating as fast as it could. The man looked on. After about 15 minutes, the other pig had eaten all of me, even my bones, the vegetables, and drank all the remaining fluids from the pan, and my conscious had reawoken inside of its mind, all my memories intact, seeing things from its perspective, though I couldnt control its actions, and it's inner thoughts weren't aware of my presence. I felt my share of the pleasure that comes from eating ones own kind, and the pig sluggishly both in speed and manner made its way back to its pen, and fell asleep. I did too

forgive the inaccuracies, idk much about babies my bad ☠ baby isn't named, hope you enjoy :)
another kid taking simon's baby's toy? absolute hell
it had been two days of crying and sobbing from the infant, he was in shock of how she many tears she seemed to be able to shed worriedly wondering if she would even get dehydrated at one point. but it wasn't much better when she calmed down, he absolutely hated how sad and miserable she looked as she moped around.
the holiday had seemed so bleak now, you had ordered a replacement plush giraffe for your baby the same as the last but it would be shipped to your home. not to the resort you were currently on and with still a week to go, you didn't know if your baby could hang on for that long. and simon regretted even booking the trip at all, he cursed the hotel for being so incompetent. cursed the people that took her beloved toy away and himself for not being able to find it anywhere.
both of you trying to engage in playtime with your baby who didn't seem very receptive to any of it, it was her first time with sand in all the 7 months of her being alive and at the beginning she loved playing sandcastles with him but now she just looked blankly at it. hardly wanting to join as the soft sad look on her face persisted
"i'll go check with the staff again, maybe they've found something?" you offered standing up, hoping that her little toy would pop out from somewhere while your husband gave you a gentle nod sighing softly himself. he looks back to the infant, giving her a faint smile as he tilted his head
"c'mon sweetheart, it's gonna be alright. look, we can still have plenty fun" simon tried everything, doing the voices she loved, making all different types things in the sand, even sprinkling some on her little hands and feet but it didn't elicit any sort of response from her as she held her little toy spade tapping the sand hopelessly. he sighed once more, shaking his head as he looked up for you hoping magically her giraffe would be in your hand
but it's her shriek and gasp that jolts him slightly, blinking down at her watching her legs trying to crawl eagerly to somewhere while he looks around the families trying to figure out what got her so concerned
and then he spots it, his own heart thudding against his chest
he saw a little boy holding the same pastel giraffe and the sight filled him with triumph and anger. this little kid stole his baby's toy, put his whole family through hell, at this point that damned giraffe felt like his second kid, all while those parents watched without a care in the world? the cursive lettering on the side of the giraffe only confirmed his doubts as he stiffened up.
target set, he was ready to attack
he heard you come back, not finding anything from the staff as you look at him a little confused. your brow raised as he gets up, leaving the baby beside you stalking to the other family with a bone to pick
and like usual, simon doesn't even bother with pleasantries. walking straight to the parents eyes narrowing on the boy playing on the floor, swallowing down the anger that wanted to rip out of his throat as he looked at the giraffe. it was his, it belonged to him
"can we help you?" he hears the mother speak, her tone cautious and wary as she frowns. he barely gives her a glance before he snatches up the giraffe from her son, relishing in the protests as he stepped towards the woman. his face set eerily in a neutral expression but the emotions burned deep inside his eyes, brown eyes darkening as they settled on the woman
"yeah, teach your son not to steal from others. cheers" he spoke coldly, daring one of them to stand up to him. he was in the mood to fight, nights of dealing with his unhappy baby had left him feeling on edge and he was more than willing to shout his rage at someone.
but they didn't say a thing, who would to a 6'4 behemoth of a man, already pissed off and aggravated, just looking for a reason to snap back?
the silence had been resounding and he was satisfied, shooting them a last look as he stormed off. heading back to where you and his infant sat, presenting the beloved giraffe as a gift
"got your little friend, munchkin" his voice immediately softens as he kneels down on the sand once more, handing her the plush toy chuckling gently at her small excited giggles. tiny hands grabbing excitedly as she pressed the giraffe to her chest in pure relief making you both smile. he steadies her and her small frame nuzzles into his chest, a string of "dada" happily falling from her lips making his heart clench with adoration and love. smiling softly at you as he holds his little mini close to his chest, cuddling her tight
she ends up falling out of love with the giraffe the next day

YOU MATCH THE 141 ON TINDER 💓
The Prequel to the "It's a Match!" series.
[ The Teaser! ] || [ Chapter 1 ]
Pairing: 141 x gn!Reader Words: 600~ Summary: While overcoming recent heartbreak, you decide to join Tinder in search of a rebound. Your friends advise to just Swipe Right indiscriminately... What happens when 4 soldiers from the same squad match with you?
You’ve always found the concept of rebounds hilariously dumb. Every time that trope came up on a romcom or sitcom you were watching, you found yourself rolling your eyes at it.
Then again, everything about how Hollywood portrays break-ups is ridiculous. Sobbing on the couch while eating a pint of ice cream? Putting on your ‘revenge dress’ and showing your ex what they’re missing? All BS… but you guess both of those have a time and a place… But rebounds?
How can someone think the remedy to a broken heart or a bad break-up is… getting involved with someone else? How can that be healthy at all? You’re at your lowest and most vulnerable and you decide to let someone else in to do more damage? Ridiculous.
That’s why you scoffed and rolled your eyes when your friend Leah suggested it during film night at your flat. “C’mon, you need to get laid!” She said as she bit down on her slice of pizza.
“Oh, please-” You grumbled, slinking down on the couch. “I’m alright by myself, thanks.”
“Pfft, c’mon!” Mia, your other friend, quipped while sitting on a pillow on the floor. “You seriously need to get out of the house and find someone else!”
"No, serious, you do." Leah agreed and nodded. "What happened with that tosser Ethan should not have you isolating youself like this."
“No, thank you. I’m quite alright by myself. Don’t need that extra stress.” You retorted as you reached for another slice of pizza from the coffee table.
“What extra stress?” Leah asked. “There's nothing stressful about it! It’s sex.” She said simply, Mia quickly nodding in agreement.
“The extra stress of going out and talking to people and getting to know them…” You list it off while halfway through chewing your bite of food.
“Oh, sod off! We’re not talking about a date!” Mia quickly said as she pushed your knee lightly with her bottle of Coke.
“Yeah, it’s a shag. You don’t have to meet or talk to a bloke! You just create an account on Tinder or Bumble or something.” Leah added.
You shoot them a look of disbelief. “Oh, I’m not doing that! Are you mental? Those apps are a cesspool! There’s nothing but creeps and losers on there…” You complained.
“See, that’s the mentality of someone who wants a boyfriend out of those apps!” Mia scolded you and nudged your knee again. “If you use it with that intention of course you’ll think every bloke there is a creep. But you’re not going to use it to look for a date! You’ll use it for the same as them: a shag.” She added.
“C’mon! Hand over your phone, let’s create a profile for you!” Leah insisted and stole your phone from your hoodie’s pocket before you even had time to argue, unlocking it and getting to work downloading Tinder.
“I don’t know…” You said, uncertain, as you nibbled on your pizza slice again. “I feel like I’ll get picky and reject all of them once their profile pops on my screen.” You add.
“Then don’t.” Mia said with a shrug while she pushed up onto her knees to peek at your phone screen in Leah’s hand.
“Yeah! Just Swipe Right on all of them! You’re bound to find one that’s worth it that way.” Leah added as she began creating an account for you.
“I don’t know-” You tried saying again, not just uncertain but downright disliking the idea.
“We promise it’ll be fun!” Mia interrupted you. “Just do what we tell you! Swipe right on everyone!” Mia added. “What’s the worst that’s going to happen?”
“Worst-case scenario, you don’t like any of them enough to meet for a shag. So what? Will make no difference on your life as it currently is.” Leah added and leaned herself lightly against you, nudging you with her shoulder.
Thinking for a moment, you end up sighing and smiling. “Fine!” You said, amused. “I guess if nothing else, it’ll give me a confidence boost to have ‘em all dming me.” You joked.
“That’s the spirit!” Mia cheered and wrapped her arms around you. “Now, let’s find some pictures of you looking fit to add to your profile.” She said, causing you all to giggle.

forlorn || mattheo riddle
Summary: based on this request.
Beware: angst, fluff, slightly aged-up characters, Hufflepuff reader, sweet reader, she/her pronouns used, mostly in second person, jealousy, mistreatment, a little bit of blood, slightly commanding(?) and intimidating Mattheo.
Words: 7.8k (not beta read)
Note: I am sorry luv, I don't think I did justice to the request. I also apologize for taking so long. I still hope you like it, even if it's just a bit. @cat-loves-music
Mattheo Riddle, son of Voldemort, or Tom Riddle if you will—for a more humane approach. But then, there's no humanity in the way he's treated. Always an outsider, always a monster.
There is wealth to his name; after all, he is the only living heir of Salazar Slytherin. However, his blood is corrupt, shunned by the very people who kissed the steps his baby feet took. Looked down on by the blood supremacists and not accepted by the other side, the "good side."
Even he was tired of the same sob story. He doesn't even need to introduce himself; they already have a preconceived image of him in their minds. He could try to fix his image in an ideal world, but even then, what would he say?
'Hello, everyone, I'm Mattheo Riddle, son of the man who once threatened your lives. Please welcome me with warm hands.'
Too cliché? Yes, but it's true and the only truth he knew.
Riddle didn't even know why the name Riddle was cursed and didn't know what his father did that made everyone's hate transcend generations. What made their hatred justified and his hate a crime? He didn't know until it was too late.
Mattheo was raised by the only living relative of his, his mother's aunt—the one who died recently. The one who kept all this hidden away from him hid all the Hogwarts' letters, raised him like her own, and protected him until her last breath. She loved him but all within the vicinity of the manor. He didn't know the world that existed beyond those walls.
He knew about the world outside only through the books she'd let him read. He thought it would feel liberating to step off the lavish floors onto the rich earth. It was everything but that.
"But Nona, why can't I go outside?" he remembers asking that silly question when he was about nine. What he wouldn't do to get that naivety back.
"Because, my dear, there are people out there who wouldn't like you. There are bad people outside ready to punish you," he also remembers crying when she told him that. He didn't understand why people would hate him. He just wanted to try the chocolate frogs he read about.
He just wanted to talk to all the different animals out there, the same way he could talk to the garden snakes.
"But I didn't do anything wrong, Nona. Tell them that I'm a good boy. I can even give them some of my toys. Will they like me then?" If only it were that easy. His Nona cried for the first time in front of him then, looking at all the toys he had set onto her lap, looking at her with teary eyes, pleading, "I didn't do anything wrong, Nona, I promise."
Mattheo didn't understand her tears back then, but now as he stands all alone, those same tears fall out his eyes. It's useless. "They'll know that someday, moon pie. You aren't wrong. They'll know." They'll know? What a fucking joke.
Mattheo tries to enjoy the view in front of him, you know. But how can he? When his batchmates are out there partying and enjoying life, he's been a lone wolf all his life. Yet in moments like this, he seems to forget his old ways of existing.
There's not much he can do anyway; he's not needed anywhere. In fact, they all want him gone. Finding beauty in small things is hard when misery clings to him. There's self-loathing in the way he thinks about the night and himself. There's nothing positive he can say.
You'd think that he must've gotten used to it all by now. No, he hasn't; it only got worse. At least little Mattheo held hope that people would understand someday or the other. Every bit of hope was destroyed by the very people who would've feared him had his father been alive. In moments like this, he wished he could see the man, live as the son they paint him as.
He'd have someone to lean onto then, someone to call his own. At least his father would've loved him. But this last bit of consolidation too was stolen away from him when he got to know that he was a backup plan for his father. Mattheo Riddle was not supposed to exist. His father wanted to live on forever; he was the last option the so-called Dark Lord had, to produce an heir and have them further his cause, and control his life as Tom lived on his last lifeline.
But all of it died with him. Mattheo promised himself that he would never be the man they all expected him to be, the man they wanted to point fingers at. So, he stayed in line. But then he thinks, sometimes, maybe, what if—you know?
He simply stares up at the brightly lit sky, it's a shame that he's the only one out there to appreciate the scenic beauty because he's physically and mentally incapable of appreciating anything, you can't blame him now, can you?
Cold breeze in mid-August, how fucking ridiculous just like this life of his, so unlike his peers, who were out there partying and having the time of their lives, the music vibrating through the walls was like salt on wounds. He'd like to drink a few and chat with his friends but then again, he hasn't got any. And it's the bitter truth that he's not welcome there, he'd be greeted with nasty looks if he tried to enter any such party, they'd all glance his way like the ominous thing he is. It's times like this when he really contemplates it.
Mattheo looks down from the height he's on, no one would care anyway, the fall will kill him, might just give it an actual try unlike those previous attempts- he's been a coward all his life, never ready to face the extremes of life but he has nothing to protect at the moment, he's come far too long, life was never going to be worth it.
He climbs over the railing onto the brick ledge, sitting down for a moment, to take it all in for the last time ever. Mattheo remembers all the whispers that followed him, the suspicious looks passed along the way, those words of disdain- at the same time the thoughts of a happy life enter his mind, it all feels unattainable, in fact, he's so far gone he can't even picture joy, all he sees is bright colours when he thinks of a happy life.
Mattheo had desperately sought relief all his life, but the pain only worsened with time, it's only reasonable to want to end this feeling of hopelessness. The weight of his family's legacy feels heavy on his shoulders. He slouches over and looks down once again, sighing as his eyes shift to the ring on his finger, the other Gaunt ring, he slowly removes it- a pathetic heir he is, he doesn't deserve it, couldn't live up to the name, disappointing both sides of the world.
Maybe they should have destroyed this along with his father's ring but apparently, his dear sweet Nona thought he could change their fate, change the course of history, change the Gaunt legacy for the better, fuck- he couldn't even try and change people's perception about him. Even in this sense, he's nothing like his predecessors, incapable of leaving a mark, of changing the world, be it for the better or the worse. He's just fucking worthless- he fiddles with the ring as he shifts a bit closer to the edge, ready to let go of it.
"Nice ring," he turns around startled, "Mattheo, isn't it?" not Riddle? He hadn't heard his own name in a long time, no one had directly addressed him in years let alone called him by his first name. It all feels foreign, he simply nods not knowing what to say. "Do you mind if I join you?" you don't wait for a response though and carefully bend and climb through the gaps between the two rails, settling down beside him. "Hi, I'm-" he doesn't hear it, he's too focused on your face, you were dolled up, for the party he thinks, but then why are you here of all places? Was this some kind of prank? He steals a glance back at the entrance and the seemingly empty hallway, to see if anyone is waiting for a reaction.
"You know you shouldn't sit so close to the edge, you might fall down," you grab his forearm urging him to move back, your hand feels warm on his skin, it feels unnatural, his hands are always cold. Even though it's on him for a couple of seconds he can't help the multiple emotions going on about in his mind and before he can sort them out, his mouth decides to act on its own, "Why aren't you at the party?" "Oh-" you look disappointed, and he apologises right away, not wanting to upset the only person who had the decency to talk to him, "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked," he's quick to defend himself, it's a natural response after all but you only seemed amused, "No, it quite alright, I was just surprised by your voice-" "Is it that bad?" "Gosh no! It's just not what I expected, quite rough, it's nice," you are quick to shut him up, "And about your question, I am annoyed at my friends forcing me to try more drinks and all, I just came up here to relax."
"I can leave if you'd like," you add on as an afterthought, but you really didn't want to go, it was the only place with some peace, unlike the loud corridors and dorms, where you were mad at your friends and were in no mood for a party. "No, it's quite alright, I was just surprised," he tries to lighten the mood, repeating your words jokingly, it works, you laugh and properly look at him instead of the waters ahead.
"Haha so funny," you say in a monotonous voice, trying to act like you didn't just laugh but you can't contain your smile, and he finds it quite beautiful. You look down at the ring between the two of you, "it's a beautiful ring I must say," You compliment it again since he hadn't acknowledged it before. Mattheo thanked you quietly trying to think of a response that might not make you run away from him.
It's been only a few minutes and you've said more nice things to him than he has ever heard in his whole life, it's quite ridiculous when he thinks about it, seemingly you find it quite easy to compliment him. He stays quiet not knowing how to take a compliment, but you don't let the silence continue, you look around trying to find something to talk about and soon enough you start talking and he's glad, "You know about those plants right there?" you point to the shrubs at some distance from the castle walls. Mattheo shakes his head unable to recall if he had seen them before. "It's alright but now that you know, you have something to look forward to this upcoming month!" you smile yet again, cheerful that you have something to share.
"What's special about them?" "It's not the plant itself but the fireflies that live there!" Mattheo tries hard to keep up with your energy and pace, "Why aren't they out now? They aren't migratory, are they?" "That's what makes it special unlike fireflies that are present throughout the summer, these ones light up only for the last week of August," "I'll look forward to it," "You should! I missed it last year and then everyone thought I was lying when I mentioned it." Mattheo frowns, "No one knows about them? Not even the professors?" "The professors would know but it wasn't that serious that I'd take it up to them," Mattheo finds it difficult to relate, he always would let everyone know that he was in the right if the facts favour him because no way in hell would he let anyone see him in the wrong light, he couldn't bear to be in the wrong.
And it slips out his mouth, "I would've argued till they knew I was right," "I don't like arguing though, reminds me of my parents, they parted ways because they argued a lot, so I try to avoid it myself," his lips purse trying to think of an appropriate response, "Anyway, you are in Slytherin right?" it wasn't a question, you just knew, "I'm in Hufflepuff, nice to meet you!" you turn towards him and extend your hand with a smile, he can't help but mirror your smile, "Nice to meet you indeed." Your hand feels soft in his, he was finding it hard to let go but you pull your hand back almost instantly- remembering something, "OH right I forgot, do you like chocolates?" Mattheo was quite taken aback by your energetic self, it was infectious, "Of course you do, it's a silly question, I mean who doesn't like chocolate-" you stop midway and fix him with a scrutinising look, "Unless you are some heartless monster-" "Nah I like chocolate alright," "Good good."
You fish through your jacket's pocket and pull out two chocolate bars, "It's muggle chocolate," you place one in his hand, "Muggle? I've never had muggle candy," Mattheo inspects the small sweet in his hand, "You are missing out then!" you chuckle as you take the wrapper off yours, "I'll eat it tomorrow, thank you," He pockets it and looks ahead with a small smile, tonight's beautiful now that he looks at it.
"You are a muggle born then?" Mattheo can't help but want to know more, because how dare his fucking father go after your lot, "Yep, I was surprised you know? To receive the letter, I thought it was some prank but of course, after a few days I realised how real it was, couldn't have been happier, to be away from home." It's funny because all Mattheo wants to do is go back to the gloomy old mansion and here you were saying the opposite, the stark difference between the two of you was obvious to him.
You ramble on and he listens, it's nothing but enjoyable to listen to mundane stories being narrated with such interest, he finds himself smiling a bit too much, to the point where his face hurts but he doesn't care because you are quite the lovely company to be around.
Muggle-born, the same year as him, Hufflepuff, living with your mom- it's not the best back home he gathers that much. You were angry at your friends and were going to hold a grudge if they didn't apologise. He learned a lot about you in that one hour and learned a few things about him as well, he didn't know he had jokes like that OR you were just too kind to laugh at his bad quips, whatever it was he was grateful because you didn't make him feel bad or like a burden. Mattheo was glad that you were the talkative one and that you didn't expect him to share anything if he wasn't comfortable, also the fact that he didn't want to send you running away by talking more about himself.
He admires the fond smile you wear when you talk, the stars reflect a bit too brightly in your eyes, and he inhales breathing in your scent, it's surreal, the moment. Mattheo didn't quite think properly until you left, wishing him a good night, "it was nice spending time with you, Mattheo!" He wonders if you knew how much it meant to him.
...
He finds out your name the next day and sees you everywhere, it's annoying because he was tired since he couldn't sleep thinking all night about you and now he has to see your face again. Now that he knows you, he can't seem to avoid you, earlier it was easy to be blind but now, everything else seems like a blind spot but you. Or maybe it's that his head is not hanging low, avoiding looking up at people.
Mattheo got over the irritation rather quickly, discreetly looking at you, eyes following every movement of yours. But you don't look at him once, he was just like any other guy to you, the realisation both hurts and feels nice, knowing that you don't demonise him but also the fact that he's no one special either. And maybe, he can live with that.
He notices the large number of people you keep around, you are never alone, always surrounded by a group and you are always the one talking, you are clearly popular. How had he not noticed you before? But then again he knew no one in the school apart from the professors, he never tried to get to know anyone because of course his fate wouldn't allow that.
Mattheo seeks out the solace of the library to keep you out of his mind for a while but the plan doesn't seem to work when he finds the chocolate you gave him in his bag. He simply sighs, knowing that there is no escape, unwarps the sweet and pops it into his mouth, shutting his eyes, and recalls your sweet smile. Warmth takes over his body, it feels nice like this, he has to talk to you once again because that can't be the only interaction he has with you, not when it's all he can think about. He breathes out slowly, staring down at the wrapper and mindlessly reading the information on the back, his jaw tightens as he realizes his stupid pathetic feelings. Mattheo puts the wrapper in his quill case and tries to study with a head full of you.
...
Okay, now it was really starting to bother him, he practically couldn't keep his eyes off you, it's like a spell had charmed him in. He wasn't even trying to be discreet at this point, he downright stared at you from a distance, it was creepy, he was aware of that but he couldn't bring himself to give a damn. Mattheo doesn't like this new feeling you've instilled in him, it's sweet and it's fucking uncomfortable. He finds it extremely difficult to get rid of you from his thoughts, so he gives up on trying and lets his mind go on autopilot.
The way you talked to him without any judgement in your eyes that day, the images of you repeated over and over again in his mind. Even when he sees you with someone else he can't help but think you are in front of him telling him a story, with those animated expressions of yours, but then seconds later he comes to his senses and sees the smile that's not directed at him, the one you gave to everyone, him too. He thinks it was your pity, that made you talk to him. He didn't feel like he was burdening you then but now when he thinks of approaching you, he knows he'd be burdening you. Your life looks no different, every day is full of joy, and you aren't smiling any less.
Why would you talk to him of all people? Perhaps, you only talked to him that day because you needed a change of scenery and not because you wanted to, he's wrong in thinking that but he's also deluded. It's the only way he keeps himself at peace, to not see meaning in your words, to not long for your company.
But he's a Riddle after all, some things just run in your blood, he has his eyes set on you and he finds it difficult to look away. New dream of his, and he'd like to have it, no matter how unattainable it feels. Yet he hasn't got a clue, it's all too new, and he doesn't know what to do, he'd like to have a plan but what would the plan even say? Go and talk to her? Yeah, like he's about to embarrass himself in front of her.
...
Your eyes stretch at the sight of him sitting in the library, alone but not in some deserted corner, he had claimed the whole couch in the centre of the room, sitting right in the middle, reading a book leaning back, a frown on his face. He looked intimidating, and to be honest, you were scared of him, the little beer in you that night had given you the courage to approach him, maybe your fate was too kind to let you find him that night but now your nerves were on fire.
It was no secret to you that he had been staring at you the past couple of weeks, but you couldn't understand the look on his face, his jaw was always clenched, eyes narrowed, and not a hint of emotion on his face. Was he mad at you? Was he the planning on-
No. You didn't like to think about it, you didn't want him to be the man they paint him as, he's just a boy, your age, maybe that's another reason why you hadn't approached him. Staying away because you were scared that they'd be right, you'd rather delve into what ifs than actually be heartbroken, your imagination brought you bliss.
But would it really be your mind if it would let you just forget it? You think and think, getting worked up over every little interaction you've had with him. How could he be evil? He talked to you so nicely the other day, even- even though you were a muggle-born, a mud blood. But when you see how he looks at you, you can't help but feel scared.
It really was an intimidating sight, your courage wore thin but you had made up your mind. You approach him cautiously, as you greet him, you start feeling jittery and flushed, "Hey Mattheo."
Mattheo jerked his head up as he heard your voice, surprised, caught off guard in fact, he didn't trust his words just yet so he simply nodded at you, acknowledging your presence, closing the book and setting it aside, all his attention on you. "I came here to study and noticed you," you look around bashfully before continuing, "I just wanted to ask you if you liked the chocolate I gave you the other day, you know the one with dark brown wrapper-" "Yeah I did," He stops you from rambling on, not that he had any problem with it but you clearly seemed nervous, he just wanted to ease your nerves, "Right so-" you quickly pull out a small pack of the chocolate from your sling bag placing it beside him, straightening up, "I'll go then, enjoy-" you are quick to turn away from him, cursing yourself in your mind, blaming yourself for making things more awkward than they already were.
Mattheo stops you in your tracks as he calls you by your name, you turn around, and he speaks in that cold voice of his, "You said you were here to study right?" you nod timidly, clutching onto the straps of your bag, he leans back and with a flick of his wrist, a table and chair are summoned in front of him, "then study," he motions to the chair opposite of him.
You were quite taken aback, you stood there for a bit before actually registering his words, and you quietly sat down, you didn't have it in you to disobey him, he was Mattheo Riddle for fucks sake, he looked and sounded like someone who doesn't take no for an answer.
A small smile tugged at his lips as he watched you carefully sit down, looking down, not meeting his gaze, he couldn't believe it, you obliged his wishes? Mattheo leaned back fully, arms folding as he watched you, brown eyes capturing each detail, amusement crawled over his face as he watched you pull out multiple books all at once, various colourful stationery items sprawled out all over the table. You looked pretty like this, stray strands of hair framing your face, lips pursed in concentration. He knew how creepy he was being, so he opened his book again and tried to read but he simply couldn't not when you were sitting in front of him, he relished your presence and this was so unlike the others, every time he had looked at you- you had been surrounded by people, so it was a sight to behold, only for him to admire. So he did, in secret, glancing up at you, every few seconds.
It's been two hours and not once did he get bored of looking at you, a small smile lingered on his face as you closed your books and looked up at him, "How's that book?" you nod towards the book in his hand- the one he was supposed to be reading, "Good, good" he bites the inside of cheek as he lies through his teeth, "Got everything done?" he sets his book aside, fixing you with a soft stare, "Yes, I just wanted to revise a bit, I forget stuff easily if I don't revise regularly," you tilt your head a bit, his eyes were much softer now, and it made your heart flutter a bit, feeling a lot more comfortable than before, so you do what you usually do when you are comfortable- talk.
"By the way, did you study for the upcoming herbology test?" And before he could answer, you pulled out a piece of paper from your bag, "This is like the holy grail, a senior gave it to me last year, it has all the specifics, of recognising plants and how to make generalised guesses about their uses-" you speak in a hushed voice, slightly leaning over the table, eyes wide as you shared your little secret, "you can have it, I have it memorised haha" You bless him with that pretty smile of yours, pushing the paper towards him, you don't let him refuse the offer and start talking about something else, he gives you a small smile, and it makes your insides turn into mush, you bite your lip trying to contain your smile, eyes shy as you start fiddling with your hands on your lap.
You talked for hours, he was much more open this time, and the conversation flowed smoothly between the two of you, it was you who mostly did the talking but he didn't seem to mind he looked more than pleased, he didn't like talking much, it seemed, so you filled in the gaps, made it look so effortless like it was easy talking to him, maybe it was easy for you but to him, it made him feel warm and fuzzy inside. You two stopped only when the librarian came in and told you it was curfew time, your eyes widened as you turned to look back at him, an amused smile on your face, both of you got up, walking beside each other, not uttering a word till you were out of the librarian's stern gaze.
"I made you miss dinner-" your eyes widened further as soon as the two of you got out, stepping into the empty hallway, "it's alright, I don't mind," you playfully rolled your eyes at him, he chuckled at your antics, "yeah sure, but your stomach would, but- we can sneak into the kitchens, you know, sneak some food out," you wiggle your eyebrows at him with a sheepish grin on your face, he scoffs in disbelief, a fond smile gracing his face, "something tells me, this isn't your first time sneaking around."
"No, it's not," you chuckle a bit before continuing, "So, are you coming or not?" you purse your lips, looking up at him with doe eyes and he questions your motives right then because there's no way you didn't have a clue about what you were doing, "would be an idiot to say no," he muttered under his breath shaking his head, "I didn't catch that-", "Yes, I am."
You give him a pleased smile, you looked so happy at that moment, he was rooted in his position as you started walking ahead of him, he had to look away to catch his breath, "Merlin" he exhaled, a hand reaching over to his chest to soothe his loud thumping heart, and in that moment he knew he was a goner.
"Mattheo-?" you turned around since you didn't hear him walk with you but soon he rushed to your side the moment you looked back, you gave him another smile as he walked beside you, he looked straight ahead then, you needed to stop doing that because no fucking way- would he be able to let go of you.
You lead him to the kitchen, both of you cautious, well just you- he was having the time of his life, getting a detention would be worth it, just a small price to pay. Mattheo repeatedly stole glances here and there, the moment you entered the kitchen, you grabbed his arm and pulled his painfully slow self in, "gosh- you sure do walk slow," you glare at him, but there's no malice in your eyes, instead they are just amused, you roll your eyes when he just shrugs in response, moving over to the tables. Mattheo just looked at you with fond eyes, he was just trying to buy more time with you by walking slowly and he didn't feel one bit guilty about it, he felt a bit too proud.
You sigh dramatically before returning to him with a small tray in your hands, "I didn't find anything else, apart from these blueberry muffins," your eyes wander around once more trying to see if you missed something, "usually there's still stuff left, that's weird- oh well, at least we have these," you give him a small defeated smile, setting the tray on the table, shrugging as you felt that muffins weren't worth the effort of sneaking around and that you only troubled him further. Mattheo saw through you and he hated that you were feeling that way, "didn't I mention this to you? I love muffins, especially the blueberry ones." he gave you a small smile, picking up the muffin, taking a bite, "yeah, that's good, way better than the dry vegetable and chicken pies they make." He didn't look at you as he said that, but you smiled, realising what he was trying to do, you wanted to cry, why was he being so considerate? You were now beginning to go down a spiral, of all the times you thought of him in the wrong light, how dare you even think like that?
Mattheo caught you staring and it was hard for him to control the heat that rose to his cheeks, he cleared his throat, "What? You don't like these? Well, guess they are all for me-" he teased, taking the tray in his hand and started walking away, "Hey! No-" you rushed after him with an amused smile, "I want one too," and the tray was shoved back into your hands, "better not eat all of them, yeah?" he gave you a small cheeky wink, leaning against the table, finishing the muffin in his hand.
Mattheo offered to walk you back to your dorm, he didn't have to insist much, after all, you wanted to spend time with him too, you easily agreed after a couple of tries. You two walked in comfortable silence, as you neared the Hufflepuff dormitory, you were thinking about how you'd part ways, overthinking about what would be appropriate and in the mix of it, you just gave him an awkward side hug, squeezing his arm a bit before mumbling a quick "goodnight" and rushing in.
He couldn't believe his eyes, were you blushing? No way, he must be imagining things. Mattheo could still feel your warm touch lingering on his side, the scene playing over and over again in his mind, he wanted to scream out of excitement- he was getting cuteness aggression, had to be it, his fists clenched at his side as he stared at the door, for god knows how long, if he could- he would've squeezed you into a bone-crushing hug, but you were quick, left him speechless.
He walked back to the Slytherin dorm without any trouble, he closed the door behind himself and leaned back against it, he was pretty sure his skin was burning with all the warmth that was flowing through his veins. Merlin, he was embarrassing! Mattheo sighed contently, a big smile on his face as he replayed the whole day, your smile-
...
The next few days, you guys didn't talk at all, he was back to staring and this time, when you did catch him in the act, instead of pretending you didn't see him, you gave him a knowing smile and a wave. Lingering looks, and subtle greetings, were sweet, Mattheo was now on a new high, he couldn't get enough. But for some reason, he maintained his distance, he stuck to looking at you from afar, it felt comfortable this way, not wanting to taint your reputation by talking to you in front of others, he'd talk to you if it was only you but you were never alone.
Mattheo starts seeing life for what it is, when he looks at the trees outside, the castle in its entirety, he feels like he is seeing it for the first time. How had he missed this? He finds himself back at the astronomy tower, he looks at the lake ahead, it was a sight to behold, and he is starting to appreciate the view, these days he didn't care about much, you were all he could think about and you were more than pleasant, it was as if the grey lens of his life was replaced with a coloured one, and it would be foolish to credit anyone else but you for it, and he was fucking grateful for it. The reason he was here was, that it was the end of August, and the fireflies you so damn wished to see would be out tonight, he came here just in the hope that he'll get to see you alone.
He was zoning out when some movement near the edge of the lake caught his eye, it was you- with a few of your friends, his smile faltered the moment he saw some blonde Hufflepuff dude pull you to his side, slinging a hand over your shoulder, you all walked towards the shrubs and didn't have to wait long before the fireflies lit up and started raising above the shrubs. He was about to leave, he was mad for some reason, really pissed- but then he took another look at you. You were standing a bit behind your friends, who had all their attention on the flies ahead, you seemed sad, looking down, messing with the soil beneath your shoe, hands in your jacket. Mattheo could make out the pout on your face, the deflated shoulders, you then turned to look right where he was, and he felt his breath catch in his throat.
Your posture straightened immediately, the pretty smile returning to your face as you looked up at the astronomy tower balcony, having spotted him, you waved at him. Mattheo nodded, forearms on the railing as he leaned forward, a smile gracing his features, the anger leaving him. You excitedly pointed at the sky, and he nodded, you turned back around when your friend called you and he couldn't look away, he was staring at you till you left, Mattheo started feeling the warmth creep up to him when he saw you making an effort to steal back glances at him. He felt seen, fucking special-
...
Mattheo still hadn't talked to you, he couldn't catch you alone really, it was starting to get to him, he longed to hear your voice, hear you talk to him- and yet, he didn't have it in him to approach you in front of others, it would ruin you, you thrived in the company of others, he couldn't snatch that away from you. Maybe if he was a bit more selfish, he'd do it, snatch you away from others, have you all to himself but he wasn't about that life, it was something his father would do, he's sure of it, go after what he wants, not caring what others would think-
Mattheo feels like passing out when you deliberately look at him just to give him a shy smile, a flushed look on your face. He walks away because he cannot handle looking at you, the urge is too strong, to just take you into his arms, he walks out to the empty hallway, a hand over his chest- it had become a subconscious habit of his, whenever you gave him that smile, the one that felt like it was just reserved for him, yeah that one, he felt like he was in heaven, you sent his heart rate through the roof when you did that, it borderline hurt him since he couldn't do much to satiate this feeling.
The longing was etched into his eyes when he looked at you, one thing he realised was, that when he had his head up, no one dared to look his way, he was enjoying that power for some reason, it filled his veins with something dark, he liked seeing people look down instead of him looking down, it felt fucking nice, and it felt even better when the only person that did look at him, was you. People averted their eyes when he entered the room, choosing to ignore his presence but the fear was very much evident, so he knew they didn't see him staring at you but at this point, he really couldn't bring himself to make an active effort to look away even if someone noticed.
It was no lie, that Mattheo wasn't up to date with all the gossip and news, he just lived life passively but now that he was out there more, he couldn't help but hear the words that fell onto his ears, Yule Ball, huh. WAIT- ball dance? That meant having a date, who were you going with? Fuck his mind was rambling shit to him, he could not let someone else take you to a fucking dance as their date, no, he wouldn't let that happen. He had to get to you before someone else did, it was nighttime, and tomorrow's the weekend, approaching you will be the first thing he'll do after he wakes up, he has to plan shit out, you know, make it special and heartfelt, you deserved nothing less.
But his heart nearly broke when he overheard two Slytherin guys talking about you. The way one of them talked about you made his blood boil, his jaw clenched tight, nails drawing blood from his palms as they dug into his coarse skin, "I told you not to ask her out, plenty of guys tried and guess what? She rejected them all." the guy who was being talked to only scoffed angrily, "She's a fucking slut, that's what she is, leading people on-" the other boy just stopped him and Mattheo exhaled, a bit relieved because if it wasn't for him, Mattheo would've smacked the guy and pushed him to the fucking wall, "dude, come on, that's not true, all she did was smile at you when you gave her your seat, she's a nice girl," these guys were in the fifth year, he recognised that much, "sure, whatever," the guy walked away to his room, making sure to loudly slam the door behind him.
Mattheo then gets up and walks towards the guy left behind, the one who stood up for you, when he stands in front of him, he sees the dude cower into the seat, Mattheo tries to speak in a polite voice but the anger is still radiating off him, his irritated stare didn't help either, "she doesn't have a date, yeah?" his hands were behind his back, over one another, the blood still fresh, "who-o?" the guy stutters out, looking around for help but no one was there- "You know who," he fixes him with a glare, before uttering your name out loud, "no no, she doesn't, rejected them all." Mattheo then nods at him and leans back, then finally he walks back to his room, allowing the guy to catch his breath.
Mattheo feels relief wash over him as he lets the information sink in, okay good, you didn't have a date but then again, why were you rejecting them all? What if you reject him as well? Yeah, he couldn't handle that wound, he'd fucking die, he contemplates whether he should ask you or not but he's done fucking waiting, waiting for his fate to fuck things over, if things are going to be fucked, he'll be the one to do it.
...
Mattheo puts on a black shirt and black pants, not caring to tuck his shirt in, the cold metal ring stings him as he puts it on, the feeling is grounding, he's doing something his dad would've done and for some reason that doesn't feel half as bad, he feels like himself, it was like something had possessed him, the confidence was unwavering, even as he stepped out into the crowded hallway, hands in his pockets, looking ahead, people parted, giving him space and Merlin, did that feel fucking powerful. He rolled his sleeves up to his elbows as he approached the room you'd be in, you always were there on the weekends, with your friends and he didn't think before he stepped into the room, heads turning towards him in shock, even yours but the shock on your face was soon replaced with a smile, quietly waving at him and that right there, fed right into his ego.
He walked over to you in a few quick strides, eyes zeroed in on you, nothing else mattered at that moment, "Can I talk to you?" To say you were surprised would be an understatement, you were ecstatic, you've wanted this for so long, to talk to him in front of others, you never knew if you should because he might've felt uncomfortable, "Yes ofcourse, what is it?" you nod, a smile still on your face, "Alone," his voice was cold, "oh yeah, sure-" you step towards him, thinking he'd lead you somewhere private but he stayed rooted in his place, eyes never leaving yours, he stayed quiet for a bit, taking in your whole self, the bright clothes you were dressed in, the equally bright smile on your face. Then he looked over your head, to the shocked faces of your friends, "Alone." It came out as an order, he couldn't care less.
Mattheo liked this newfound authority, he also relished in the fact that you were being so compliant as if you wanted this to happen and he couldn't be more glad, "Guys, I'll be back, you can go ahead, don't worry," you explained, seeing their hesitance, his unwavering gaze was back on you, brown eyes were intense. The apprehensive group slowly emptied the room and just went the last person was out, Mattheo muttered something under his breath, and the door slammed shut, locking itself.
Mattheo cursed that pretty smile of yours before smiling back, "You have a date? For the ball?" you lowered your eyes to the ground at the question, a shy look grazing your features as you shook your head, the more he looked at you, the more positive he got. "Good." He finally pulled his hands out of his pocket and suddenly there was a bouquet of your favourite flowers in his hand and a velvet box, he wordlessly handed them to you, your eyes were wide, full of amusement, face warm, you noticed how the lights around you got dimmer, the small mock firefly charms that floated in the air, you didn't have a clue on how he was doing all this without his wand but you couldn't bring yourself to think of it, not when you had him standing in front you, in all his glory, about to ask you to the ball, gosh you felt like you were on cloud nine, the guy you were waiting for had actually approached you? You had to be dreaming.
Then out of nowhere, you hear your favourite song but on strings, you look down at the box curiously- "It's the muggle chocolate you were talking about, the one you said was hard to get your hands on," he shrugged nonchalantly, as if it was no big deal but in reality, he was finding the courage to finally tell you what he was feeling, ask you out. Your brows pinched together, as you noticed that all of it was a muggle, even the flower arrangement- the song, how did he do all of this? You looked up at him with an amused look. "No questions please," he breathed out like he was out of breath, you then smiled at him gratefully, and he quickly averted his eyes, his hand subconsciously reaching over to his chest, "Oh Merlin," he exhaled quietly, not being able to look back at you.
He then slowly gathered the courage to look back at you, you were just looking at him patiently, the smile still on your face, Mattheo cleared his throat before opening up, "I have never been the one to be graceful but I want to do this properly." he inhaled sharply before continuing, "Ever since that night, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, I think I've gone mad honestly," He lets out a dry chuckle shaking his head, looking into your eyes, "I think I've taken a liking to you, your voice, your smile-" and then he interrupts himself, forgetting the little speech he prepared as he watches your smile widen at his words, "yeah that, more of that please," and that makes you blush, the genuine interest in his eyes, the way admiration shines in his eyes, you are so close to him, that you can hear his heart thumping loudly, "I'd like to have the honour of taking you to the ball," then he says your name quietly, "would you like be my date?"
"Yes yes!" you couldn't be more excited, you are quick to throw your arms around him, and all the worries leave his body as soon as he is subjected to your embrace, he closes his eyes, pulling you closer, finding everything comfortable in your grip. His heartstrings thrum at the moment, it was embarrassing how quickly you got him flustered but he didn't seem to mind it. He whispered a small "thank you," before hugging you tighter, you just giggled into his chest and Merlin, did he feel like he had just won the lottery.

Summary: Your biological parents want a meeting
*TW: discussions of past child abuse*
Pernille can still remember the pictures from the police.
Nestled in with other pictures of your childhood, you were just a baby. A baby sitting on a big hospital bed in just her nappy and mottle of bruises around her skin, wrapped around you like a vine.
It was sickening and Pernille can remember dropping your foster file in shock.
She hadn't been able to equate the twelve year old moving into her house with the baby that had been so horribly abused.
According to the police report, they'd been called after a disturbance in the house. Bottles shattering. People shouting. A sound violation more than anything else.
But no one had answered the door when the police knocked.
They had been planning to leave if it wasn't for the wailing of the baby, the wailing of you.
They'd forced their way in after that, finding you laying on the floor, covered in your own sick and with way too high a fever for a baby.
What was standard child neglect turned into a child abuse charge at the hospital when your dirty onesie had been taken off to reveal all the bruises down your skin and the dilation of your pupils showing the concussion you'd received.
Rights were terminated by a judge and into the system you went.
The picture is etched into Pernille's mind though, something that appears to her any time you get injured, any time you go down in a match.
The picture appears to her now as she sits in a mediation meeting with your biological parents.
These are the people that did that to you.
The people that had bruised you and caused you a concussion.
The people that had their rights terminated because of their treatment of you.
The same people that sit in front of Pernille and Magda in ill-fitting clothes and unkempt hair. They're smiling a bit too widely, mismatched on their sagging faces.
"So," The lawyer that they've clearly paid an extortionate amount for says," We're here to discuss Miss Y/n L/n-"
"Harder," Magda says at Pernille's side," That's her name. Y/n Harder."
The lawyer flashes her a saccharine smile. "Of course. We're here to discuss visitation with my clients."
"Their rights were terminated." The same lawyer that helped finalise your adoption is the same one in the meeting with Magda and Pernille now. "Years ago. They have no leg to stand on. Visitation isn't something they can have."
"I have reason to believe that the judge that terminated their rights made a hasty decision," The slimy lawyer says back," My clients have put their lives back together and are ready to see their daughter again."
"I can't help but think this timing is a bit coincidental," Their lawyer returns," My client's child has had a breakout year as a footballer, joining the senior Sweden team so her face has been plastered on the tv everywhere. A bit coincidental that this is the time that your clients decide to reach out."
"Well, she was taken out of the country."
"When she was sixteen," Magda puts in bluntly," They had sixteen years before that. We live in Germany now."
"We were looking for her!" Your biological mother says," It's all just one big conspiracy against us!"
This is the woman who left you in a pile of your own sick, crying and sobbing and covered in bruises, suffering from a concussion that could have killed you.
Pernille feels sick, rage bubbling in her stomach.
"Oh, grow up! You're not nearly important enough to have a conspiracy around you!" She slams her hands onto the table. "You are nothing to her! She doesn't even know your names!"
Magda pulls at Pernille's hand, weakly at first and then a little harder when it doesn't look like Pernille wants to sit down again.
"Let me put it plainly," Pernille and Magda's lawyer says," My clients and their daughter have a packed schedule in Germany playing football for club and then football internationally. Their daughter is sixteen years old and is capable of making decisions by herself. Your clients have no parental rights and will not be getting them back."
"How dare-"
"I believe this meeting is finished."
You weren't in the dark about this meeting. You'd been told the moment the Magda and Pernille were sent the letter about it.
You just hadn't wanted to attend, sitting in the nearby café with your schoolwork spread out in front of you.
You expected it to take longer than it did so you'd brought a lot of your science homework.
You check your watch as Pernille and Magda slump down into the seats in front of you.
"Half an hour. I thought it would take at least an hour."
"Pernille went off on them. It was kind of hot."
You wrinkle your nose. "Gross."
Pernille huffs in her seat, arms crossed. "The gall of them! The audacity! You're not going anywhere near them, do you understand me? They don't even deserve to breathe the same air as you!"
A grin quirks your lips upward. "It's nice you hold me in such high regard."
"You're my daughter. They're nothing."
"I'm not all that much."
"You are to me."
You hold her gaze for a moment.
There's something immovable in her eyes, staring at you like she's daring you to challenge her.
You drop your eyes with a smile.
"Do either of you know anything about nuclear fission? I'm drawing a blank."

Yandere! Batfam x Poor! Hacker! Reader
The first thing you noticed when you approached your apartment, arms laden with groceries, was the sleek, black car parked in front. This was unusual; you were in a neighborhood where a car like this would get its tires stolen.
As you entered the lobby, you spotted the elderly lady that lived upstairs.
She was shaking like a leaf, face teary and pale, and her whispy hair was hanging loosely around her face like she had been running her hand through it.
“Oh dear, oh no!” She sobbed upon spotting you.
“What's wrong, Mrs. Lark?” You asked, concerned.
“There's someone upstairs… He came in that fancy car looking for you!”
It felt like ice down your spine. You couldn't believe it; who would be looking for you?
You handed her the groceries and bounded up the stairs two at a time, stopping on your floor and bending over, gasping for air.
Who could possibly be looking for you? Who was waiting for you? Was it the elusive new owner, who you still hadn't met?
You opened the unlocked door slowly, attempting to soundlessly slip in without notice. You failed.
Sitting in your one armchair was a young man, maybe 19, leaning back with his legs loosely crossed. His arms were laid upon the armrests. and cold, icey blue eyes were locked onto you. His midnight blue suit was without crease, and his leather shoes looked out of place on your dark, scuffed wooden floors. His short, dark hair floated lightly around his starkly pale face, with eyes lined in eyebags a deep, dark purple.
“So you're our mysterious thief.” He droned, head tilted to the side slightly, and eyes narrowed.
It was Timothy Drake, young CEO of Wayne Industries and the brightest mind in the city. You'd forgotten about him in your hunger-induced stupor.
“I'm sorry…” you intoned, head lowered.
“You could at least have the decency to look the man you've been stealing from in the eye when you apologize.” He said, mouth pulled into a frown.
You met his eyes, and the world shifted to the left.
Your eyes widened in shock. You could see it in the corner of your eye, the grey threads that signified your soul family, with the inner most one, hooked around your pinky, slowly turning glacial blue, the same color as Tim's eyes. He looked shocked, glancing from the thin thread connecting your pinky and his right index to you. He slowly stood up, face still slack in surprised.
“I-I…” He stuttered, one hand limply raising in your direction.
You took off running, hearing him swear faintly in response. That was your second mistake.

𝒦𝐼𝒮𝒮. connie s.
𝒞𝒲: you just can’t stay away from connie fucking springer. nsfw. minors dni.
ꪻhe creak of the hardwood floor underneath your slippered feet sounded like your own inevitable undoing, the wall clock striking midnight, its soft tick almost mocking. each step was slow and deliberate, the creaky wood a potential giveaway. your breath hitched as you passed your roommate's shut door, praying she was in a deep slumber as you crept. tonight, you were breaking one of your unspoken rules, no bringing home ex’s, especially not connie springer, who she’d deemed as the heartbreaker.
she could never grasp why you had dated him; in her eyes, he was nothing but a loser who didn’t know his left from his right and sure as hell didn’t know how lucky he was to have you in his pathetic life. she hated seeing you sob over him, it’d taken her weeks to get you out of your funk after the breakup, yet here you were walking right back into that path of hurt.
the dim light from the hallway barely illuminated your way, casting long, eerie shadows on the walls. you could almost feel the weight of your roommate's disapproval pressing down on you, even in her sleep. the air felt thick with tension, each creak of the floorboards amplifying your guilt. you recalled the countless nights she had sat beside you, tissues in hand, as you cried over connie's broken promises. she had always been your rock, the one who picked up the pieces when everything fell apart.
as you reached the living room, you glanced back one last time, half-expecting her to come storming out, demanding to know why you were making such a foolish decision. but the door remained closed, and the apartment was silent, save for the ticking clock and your own anxious breathing. you knew you were risking not just your own heart, but also the trust and support of your closest friend. you took a deep breath, steeling yourself.
you hesitated for a moment, your hand hovering over the doorknob. the weight of your choices felt heavier than ever, and for a split second, you considered turning back, retreating to the safety of your room and the comfort of your roommate's unwavering support. but the pull of familiarity, of the memories you had with connie, was too strong to ignore. with a deep breath, you turned the knob and stepped outside.
the night air was cool, and you shivered slightly, whether from the cold or the anticipation, you weren't sure. connie was waiting at the end of the driveway, leaning against his car with that same casual confidence that had drawn you to him in the first place.
the streetlights cast a soft, golden glow around him, highlighting the sharp angles of his face and the relaxed posture that seemed to come so naturally to him. you tried to play it cool, despite your heart thundering against your chest, motioning him inside with your head. as he began to walk towards you, the crunch of gravel under his feet seemed to echo in the stillness of the night. you found yourself hugging yourself tighter, the thin fabric of your nightgown doing little to ward off the chill. the moonlight carved his face out in stark contrasts. begrudgingly, you had to admit, connie springer was a sight for sore eyes.
his buzzed short hair gave him a neat and tidy look, and those steel hazel eyes always seemed to pierce through you, seeing more than you were willing to show.
he was wearing a dark blue hoodie and a pair of gray sweatpants, so simple yet he made it look so damn sexy. the hoodie clung to his broad shoulders, hinting at the strength beneath, while the sweatpants hung low on his hips, revealing just a sliver of his toned abdomen when he moved. as he finally approached, the scent of his cologne—clean, with a hint of something spicy—hit you, making your pulse quicken even more.
"hi," he breathed, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. it had been almost a year since you last saw him, and as you stood there, a flood of memories came rushing back. you remembered the shared laughs that echoed through late nights, the tears that marked moments of vulnerability, and the screams from heated arguments that left you both raw and exposed. the silence between you now felt heavy with the weight of everything left unsaid.
you could see the conflict in his eyes, a mixture of longing and hesitation. "how have you been?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, as if afraid of breaking the fragile moment. you took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heart. "i've been... okay," you replied, though the word felt inadequate to describe the emotional rollercoaster you'd been on since the last time you saw him. "and you?"
he looked down, a small, rueful smile playing on his lips. "surviving, i guess. it's been... different without you." the admission hung in the air, thick with unspoken feelings. you wanted to reach out, to bridge the gap that had grown between you, but the fear of reopening old wounds held you back. instead, you both stood there, the silence filled with the echoes of your past, waiting for one of you to take the first step.
"come inside, it’s fucking freezing." you shiver, opening the door wider to let him step in. “thanks,” he utters as he slips inside, his hand brushes against yours, sending a jolt through your stomach that you try to ignore. the warmth of the cozy, cinnamon-scented home envelops you both, a stark contrast to the biting cold outside. he always loved being here; it was his sanctuary, his home away from home.
usually, his belongings would be scattered around the tiny townhouse—his favorite worn-out hoodie draped over the couch, his game system piled up underneath the coffee table, and his guitar leaning against the wall. but now, the space feels emptier, almost foreign, since he had gathered up his things after the breakup. the absence of his presence is palpable, a silent reminder of the void left behind.
"let's go upstairs. annie would have my head if she found out you were here. she kinda hates your guts now," you half-jokingly admit, trying to keep your voice light despite the tension. connie scoffs, rolling his tongue inside his cheek in that familiar way that always drove you fucking crazy. "she’s always hated me. nothing new there," he replies with a wry smile.
you lead him up the creaky staircase, each step echoing in the quiet house. the dim light casts long shadows on the walls, adding to the clandestine feel of the moment. as you reach the top, you glance back at him, catching the glint of something you can’t quite put your finger on.
it feels like some twisted game as connie watches your hips sway with each step you take up the carpeted staircase. his eyes are glued to the way your gown barely covers you, stopping just beneath your ass, teasing him with every movement. the soft fabric of the shirt clings to your curves, accentuating the sway of your hips in a way that seems almost deliberate. the dim lighting casts shadows that play along your legs, adding to the tantalizing sight.
you swing the door to your room open, and the familiar smells of lavender and vanilla wrap around you like a warm hug. connie steps in right after, making the cozy space feel even smaller. you close the door gently, hoping to keep the noise down, but the latch clicks a bit too loudly this time.
"nice to see some things haven't changed," connie says, his gaze roving over the room. he picks up a little trinket from your dresser—a memento from one of your adventures—and turns it over in his hands. "remember this? we found it at that cute little shop near the beach," he reminisces, mixing nostalgia with a hint of yearning.
"yeah, well, not everything stays the same," you reply, your voice laced with wistfulness. perched on the edge of your bed, you watch him as he explores the space, his fingers gliding over stuff that holds so many memories. the way he interacts with everything tugs on your heartstrings, calling back all those moments of laughter and deep conversations, alongside the way he used to gaze at you like you were the center of the universe.
eventually, he flops down beside you, causing the mattress to sink a bit. "so. . what’s next?" he asks, his tone soft yet inquisitive. when his eyes lock onto yours, for just a second, you catch a glimpse of the guy you once knew—the one who made you feel like you were the only one that mattered.
you push yourself further onto the bed, feeling a knot form in your stomach. "i don’t know. maybe we just... talk?" you propose, though you're unsure where this could go. connie relaxes back on the bed, feeling the warmth in the air. he slips off his hoodie, and you can’t help but stare for a moment as he does. his black t-shirt lifts slightly, revealing a glimpse of his v-line leading down to a happy trail. with the hoodie gone, you find it hard to tear your gaze from his toned, inked arms, hastily clearing your throat to shake off the daze.
connie reaches into his pocket and pulls out a freshly rolled blunt, waving it around like it’s a trophy. "i came bearing gifts" there’s a mischievous spark in his eyes and it makes you giggle. seeing him like this, so familiar yet somehow different.
he rolled it between his fingers, contemplating the moment. “you know,” he said slowly, “the first time we smoked together, i thought it was just fun. i never realized how much i’d end up needing it.”
you chuckled softly, the sound breaking the tension that lingered like a specter between you. “yeah, all those late-night talks about life and love. i thought we were just being kids.” you leaned back, allowing the memory to wash over you. “but it was more than that, wasn’t it?”
“definitely more,” connie replied, his voice lowering as he fidgeted for his lighter, finally finding it and lighting the blunt. he took a slow drag, his eyes narrowing as he exhaled a cloud of smoke that hung in the air like a dream. “but we messed it up. i messed it up.” you nodded, a slight smile creeping onto your face. “we both did. toxicity was our middle name.” the words felt heavy, like stones in your heart, but you couldn’t ignore the truth any longer.
connie’s gaze shifted, a flicker of regret flashing in his eyes. “i don’t even know how it got so bad. one minute we were inseparable, and the next…” he trailed off, frustration evident in his tone. “it’s like we were sabotaging ourselves.”
“maybe we were scared,” you suggested, taking the blunt as he handed it over. the warmth spread through your chest, easing the tension that had settled there. “i mean, we were young and… passionate. it was either all in or all out.”
he leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper, “but i never wanted to hurt you. i just… i didn’t know how to handle everything.”
you inhaled deeply, the smoke dancing in your lungs before you released it slowly, letting your words flow. “i didn’t want to hurt you either. but i was drowning in my own insecurities, and i guess i thought lashing out was a way to feel something.”
connie’s eyes softened. “i felt that. the anger, the frustration—it consumed us. i pushed you away when all i wanted was to hold you close.”
the air felt charged, the space between you thick with unspoken emotions. “do you ever think about us?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
“every damn day,” he replied, his sincerity crashing over you like a wave, breaking down the barriers you’d built around your heart. “i miss you. i miss us. i know i messed up, but… i never stopped caring.”
his words hung in the air, fragile yet powerful. you passed the blunt back to him, your fingers brushing against his, sending a shiver down your spine. “i miss you too,” you admitted, the honesty surprising you. “god, i miss the way we used to laugh until we cried.”
connie laughed, a soft, bittersweet sound. “and how we’d stay up all night just talking about everything and nothing. i remember those moments like they were yesterday.”
“me too,” you said, the memory stirring something deep within you. “we were so carefree back then. it’s like we were invincible.”
“invincible until we weren’t,” he mused, his gaze turning serious. “but look at us now. we’re here, talking about it. that has to mean something, right?”
“maybe,” you said cautiously, your heart racing. “but what if we just fall back into that cycle? what if we hurt each other again?”
connie leaned in closer, his face just inches from yours, the warmth radiating between you. “can we try again?” he asked, a mix of hope and fear in his tone. “i know it’s a lot to ask, but… i want to fix things. i want to be better for you.”
you took a deep breath, inhaling the lavender, vanilla, and smoke. “maybe,” you said softly, your heart pounding in your chest. “but it’s going to take time. trust doesn’t just come back overnight.”
“i can wait,” he replied firmly, determination etched into his features. “for you, i’d wait forever.”
the sincerity in his voice wrapped around you like a warm blanket, but the fear of falling back into old patterns loomed large. “you don’t understand, connie. it’s not just about waiting. it’s about learning, growing. we need to be better individuals first.”
“i know,” he said, nodding slowly. “but i believe we can do it together. we’ve always been stronger together.”
you hesitated, unsure. “what if we can’t? what if we just end up hurting each other again?”
“then we’ll figure it out,” he said, his voice steady. “we’ll talk it out like we used to. no more screaming matches, no more shutting each other out. just… honesty.
“and what if honesty hurts?” you asked, your voice trembling slightly.
“then we face it. together.” he reached for your hand, intertwining your fingers, grounding you in the moment. “i want to be the person you deserve. i want you to be the person i deserve.”
tears pricked at the corners of your eyes, the weight of his words settling deep within you. “it’s just so hard, connie. i don’t want to get hurt again.”
“i don’t want to hurt you either,” he said softly, his thumb brushing against your knuckles. “but i also don’t want to walk away without trying. you’re worth the fight.”
you exhaled slowly, feeling the tension ease just a little. “okay,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. “let’s try. but we need to promise to be honest, even when it’s uncomfortable.”
“deal,” connie replied, a smile breaking across his face, lighting up his features. “i’ll be honest, and you’ll be honest. no more games.”
“no more games,” you echoed, feeling a flicker of hope ignite within you.
as the smoke curled around you, the room felt different—lighter, almost. you glanced at connie, who was watching you with an intensity that made your heart race. “so, what do we do now?” you asked, your voice steadier than you felt.
“now?” he grinned, mischief dancing in his eyes. “we make new memories. something that doesn’t involve us tearing each other apart.”
connie's eyes darken with intent as he ashes out the blunt almost immediately, the ember fading into nothingness. he crawls on top of you, his hands firmly planted on either side of your head, knuckles digging into the mattress. his body moves with a purpose, parting your legs with his own as he settles between them, the weight of him pressing down on you in the most intoxicating way.
the scent of his cologne is overwhelming, the heady mix making your breath hitch and your body react instinctively. you look so pretty to him and before you can utter a single word, his lips crash onto yours, a fervent mix of sucking, kissing, and biting that leaves you breathless. each moan and whine swallowed by his mouth, the intensity of his actions leaving you reeling.
he takes advantage of your parted lips, slipping his tongue inside your mouth with a possessive hunger. your hands fly up to wrap around his neck, fingers massaging his nape as you pull him closer, needing more of his touch. your legs wrap around his waist, urging him nearer, the heat between you almost unbearable.
connie's tongue dances wildly with yours, exploring every crevice, tasting and teasing with an expertise that leaves your panties soaked.
as the kiss deepened, connie's hands began their exploration, roaming over your body with purpose. they gripped your waist, fingers digging into your soft flesh, leaving imprints of their desire. you could feel the heat radiating from his palms, searing your skin, as they pulled you closer. it filled your senses, making your head spin.
in a swift movement, connie broke the kiss, only to trail hot, open-mouthed kisses along your jawline, down your neck, causing you to arch your back and offer more. moans of pleasure fumbling your swollen lips, muffled as you sank your teeth into your bottom lip. you wanted to cry out his name, the wet kisses connie planted on your sensitive skin hazing your brain. his teeth scrape gently, nipping and marking, leaving a trail of tingling sensations in their wake.
connie's hands continued their journey, sliding up your gown, fingers brushing against your bare skin, making you shiver with anticipation. you could feel the roughness of his palms as they grazed over your nipples, causing them to stiffen instantly. a sharp intake of breath escaping your lips, "fuck, you feel so good," connie whispers hoarsely against your skin , his minty breath hot.
his words send a jolt of electricity through your body, and you find yourself craving more of him. connie makes his way back up slowly, propping himself on one elbow. those dark eyes watching as you melt under his touch, “ugh, got me s’fuckin hard,” he coo’s rolling his hips forward, his hardness pressing against your thigh.
connie's lips claim yours once again, and this time, the kiss was even more ferocious. tongues battling for dominance, teeth clashing, as if you were trying to devour each other. connie's hands roam freely, mapping every inch of your body. they cupped your breasts, thumbs brushing over your sensitive nipples, eliciting gasps and moans from you.
breaking the kiss, connie's lips trailed down, leaving a wet path on your skin. lips nipping and sucking at your nipples, drawing them into his warm mouth, teasing and tugging until you were squirming beneath them. your hands clutched at connie's shoulders, nails digging into his flesh, as you struggled to keep yourself from crying out in pleasure.
as the kisses became more fervent, connie's hands found the hem of your nightgown, slowly lifting it up. you raised your arms, allowing him to pull it over your head, revealing your voluptuous figure. the cool air brushing against your bare skin.
you were left laying in nothing but a pair of frilly strawberry-patterned underwear, the red and green colors contrasting against your creamy brown skin. connie's gaze burned as he took in the sight, his clothed body pressed against yours, his cock twitching against your soft belly.
"i can't wait any longer," connie murmurs, his voice hoarse with need. he continues to rock his hips against your panties, the bulge straining against the material of his sweats. you’re practically drooling now, feeling the length of him, hard and thick.
the sensation was torture.
"mmm, connie," you whined, your voice breathy and full of desire. "i'm so wet for you." you reach down, your fingers brushing against the wetness between your thighs, bringing them up to his lips, teasing him with your taste. connie's eyes close as he savors you, his tongue flicking out to taste you.
"fuckkk, you're sweet," he groans, his hands gripping your hips. you could feel your juices soaking through your panties, a wet spot forming.
his lips are back on yours, his tongue dueling with yours as he devoured your mouth. his hands continue their assault, cupping your breasts, thumbing your nipples, sliding down to grip your ass, squeezing and kneading the soft flesh between his rough hands.
you whine into his mouth grinding your hips against him, you could feel his clothed cock against your throbbing clit. the friction was exquisite as you moved against him, eyes half lidded in bliss. connie's hands left your ass, and you felt his fingers at the waistband of your underwear.
"touch me," you pleaded, your voice thick with need. as connie knelt between your thighs, the scent of your arousal filled the air, a sweet musk that drove them wild. with a devilish grin, he leaned forward, his breath hot against your sensitive skin. you shivered, your body already responding to their mere presence. connie's fingers gently caressed your inner thighs, slowly tracing patterns, teasing you. “pretty ass pussy,” he admires, hand thundering across your thigh.
“shh... quiet," you choke out, glancing towards the door, worried about waking your roommate. the thought of getting caught only added to the thrill, a dangerous game of pleasure and secrecy. connie's eyes sparkling with mischief.
"don't worry, i’ll be quiet,” connie teases, his voice low and seductive. with that, he dove between your legs, his tongue tracing the outline of your panties, teasing the fabric that hid your glistening folds. you gasped, your fingers gripping the bedsheets, trying to maintain your composure.
connie's tongue was relentless, licking and teasing, as he pulled your panties aside, exposing your swollen lips. the first touch of his warm, wet mouth against your clit sent a jolt through your body. you arched your back, pushing your pussy towards his face, unable to hold back a soft moan. connie's hands gripped your hips, holding you in place as he feasted on your sweetness.
"mmm... you taste so good," connie murmurs between licks, voice muffled by your wetness. his tongue dancing across your sensitive bud, flicking and circling, driving you wild with pleasure. you tried to remain quiet, biting your lip to stifle the cries of ecstasy that threatened to escape. the sensation of connie's skilled mouth on your pussy was overwhelming, sending waves of pleasure through your body.
connie's fingers joined the dance, sliding effortlessly into your dripping wetness. he thrust two fingers deep inside, curling them to find your sweet spot. you bucked against his hand, your hips moving in rhythm with his fingers, as he fucked you with relentless precision. the squelching sounds of his fingers plunging in and out filled the room, a wet symphony that was music to connie’s ears.
"oh fuck, yes... right there," you whimper, your voice hoarse with desire. connie's fingers found a rhythm that sent sparks of pleasure through your body, each thrust hitting that magical spot deep within. your pussy clenching around his fingers, juices flowing freely, coating his hand.
connie's mouth never left you, his tongue continuing its relentless assault on your bud. he sucked and licked, driving you closer to the edge. your breath came in short gasps, your body trembling as you teetered on the precipice of orgasm. connie's fingers quickened their pace, his thumb rubbing your engorged clit in circles, pushing you further into the abyss.
it was almost embarrassing how close you were already, but connie just had that effect on you. he knew your body inside and out, and you hated it. the way his fingers moved, the way he could read every reaction you had, it was infuriatingly perfect.
"shit, i can't hold back... i’m gonna cum," you whine, your voice laced with desperation. connie's response was to increase the intensity, his fingers pounding into you, mouth sucking your clit with fervor. the combination of sensations was too much to bear, and with a loud cry muffled by the sheets, you climaxed.
you look so damn good falling apart underneath him, eyebrows pulled tight over your shut eyes as you bite your lip to keep from screaming out. your body trembles with each precise movement of his fingers, the tension building up inside you almost unbearable. the way your skin flushes, the way your breathing quickens—he takes it all in, savoring every second of your unraveling.
connie's fingers continued to thrust, milking every last drop of pleasure from your spasming pussy. he lapped at your juices, swallowing your fluids, his moans of satisfaction mixing with your cries of release.
as your orgasm subsided, Connie slowly withdrew his fingers, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction.he licked his lips. "you have the prettiest face when you’re cummin’ ," he whispered, voice filled with admiration.
you lay there, breathless and sated, your body shivering with post-orgasmic bliss. the thought of getting caught now seemed distant, as the pleasure connie had unleashed was worth any risk. you prop yourself up, your fingers gently tracing his jawline before pulling him into a deep kiss the taste of yourself still on his lips he responds eagerly, your lips move together, each kiss growing more intense, more urgent.
your hands move to the waistband of his sweatpants, your fingers slipping inside and pushing them down over his his. he pulls them down his legs kicking them aside, and you take a moment to admire the sight of him. “driving me crazy,” he mutters dipping between your legs your face inches from his.
"i want more," you whisper against his mouth. you can feel his smile as he kisses your neck. "good," he hums, his voice low and husky. "because i'm not done with you yet." connie flips you on your side, one leg on his shoulder as his knees sink into the mattress. he positions himself at your entrance, gripping his base, the tip red and flushed. he teases you, rubbing it against your clit, making you squirm and arch your back.
your pussy is dripping wet, your juices flowing freely, creating a slick path for his cock to slide against. he groans at the feel of you, high eyes staring down at the sight of you swallowing him.
“ughnn,” you’re an incoherent mess as he feeds himself into you inch by inch, letting out a satisfied sigh, your body welcoming the invasion. connie's cock is thick and long, filling you up perfectly, stretching you in the most delicious way. he pauses, letting you adjust to his size, enjoying the way your pussy clenches around him.
“so tight and wet." connie begins to move, pulling out almost entirely before slamming back into you with force. you cry out, your hands gripping the sheets as your body accepts his powerful thrusts. the sound of your bodies slapping together fills the room, a primal rhythm that heightens your pleasure. “fuckkkk,” you drawl out, tears pricking your eyes. “h-harder please!”
"shut up. you talk too much."
connie's strokes are relentless, each one hitting your sweet spot, sending shockwaves through you. he holds your leg firmly, his fingers digging into your soft flesh, leaving marks that would remind you of your passion later. the force of his thrusts causes your breasts to bounce. all you can do is gasp and hold onto the pillow as connie fucks you into the mattress, releasing every moment you two spent apart onto you.
the way your ass bounces against him has him groaning under his breath. you're a creamy mess on his cock, the white substance sticking to his pubes as he fucks you. "s-s-so good," you drool, eyes rolling back as he steadily rocks into you. the feeling of your gummy walls clamping around him makes his knees weak, his hand holding your calf tightly.
“fuckkkk," he hisses, pulling his shirt into his mouth to better watch as your greedy pussy lips suck his cock. you're coating him, a lewd wet sound filling his ears each time he pushes his cock into you. he swears he could fill you up now but resists. "gotta be quiet baby," he gently reminds, but you're too fucked out to even hear him.
suddenly, you’re empty and connie's forcing you onto your stomach, pulling your ass into the air. you nearly scream as he slides back into you without warning, his inked hand pressing against the back of your neck forcing your heated face into the pillow.
"shut the fuck up," he slightly slurs, pulling his shirt back up into his mouth, watching as his stomach tenses each time he rocks back into you. fuck, he wants to cum so bad at the sight. your round ass slams down onto him as he ravages you, "fuck me back pretty." he coo's, you obey. your body is trembling, eyes watering and your throat sore from holding back the screams of pleasure. you feel a knot deep inside of you. he knows what he is doing and you know he does.
connie pounds into you with abandon his cock driving deep, hitting your cervix with each thrust. your pussy clenching around him, milking his cock, urging him to release his seed. “my god,” he gasped, feeling your walls pulsating, signaling your impending orgasm.
"sooo close!” you shakily sob out.
connie wanted to prolong your pleasure, so he reached down and pinched your clit between his thumb and forefinger, applying just the right amount of pressure. you exploded, your pussy contracting violently around his cock, milking him as wave after wave of pleasure washed over you.
"mhm, cum for me, baby," he growls, his voice strained as he fought his own release.
you came hard, screaming his name into the pillow as he continued thrusting. the sensation was almost too much, but your body wanted more, wanted to keep him buried in you, even though he hadn't found his own release. connie was holding back, drawing out his pleasure as long as possible, determined to see you cum again.
he withdrew almost all the way and then slammed back into you, causing your back to arch off the bed. his thumb still rubbing your clit in time with his thrusts. the friction of his thumb combined with the intense sensations in your pussy pushed you over the edge, and you were cumming again. you clamped down around his cock earning a gulp from him.
"you gonna be quiet if i let go?" he asks, you nod quickly. connie's hand falls away from your neck, his free thumb stroking over your lip instead. "open up," he says and you do, taking his thumb into your mouth, sucking on it while you rock back on his cock. "fuck," he curses, feeling his cock throb inside of you. usually, it’d take him hours to get a nut but your pussy was pure magic.
"c-can i cum inside of you?" he stutters. you nod your head, whining as his hips meet yours, his balls pressing against you, his cock so deep that the tip is kissing your cervix.
his thrusts are fast, desperate, both hands are on your ass now, his nails digging into the skin on your hips. he’s panting, cursing, grunting, groaning, he's so loud that it's a wonder your roommate hasn’t woken up. connie’s voice is rough, his body is sweating, his mind is blank.
you can't tell which noises are coming from who. he’s not gentle when he cums, his body shuddering, voice breaking. his thrusts becoming messy and sloppy, his hips jerking as he spills inside of you, a warm wetness that pools at the base of his cock. you whimper when you feel him, his cock throbbing, his hips pressed flush against yours.
"shit," he whispers. he slowly pulls out of you and you moan, a thick line of his cum connecting the two of you. it snaps and falls onto the sheets and you finally sink down stomach first on the bed. connie collapses on top of you, his head resting on your back, listening to your rapid heartbeat as you both came down from the intense orgasms. you could feel his softening cock still buried deep within your pussy, his cum seeping out around it.
you groan softly as he pulls out and lays beside you, huffing. “that was amazing," you murmur, threading your fingers through his short hair.
“mm yeah, it was," he hums, kissing your breasts. "you are amazing."
"we should probably go clean up," you sigh, but make no move to get up.
"we should," connie murmurs, also not making any attempt to move.
you shut your eyes enjoying the moment. you’d fucking missed this.

fuck. here you were being grilled by annie, her questioning what the strange noises were from your room late last night. obviously you couldn’t tell her that you’d fucked connie, you shrug shoveling a spoonful of oatmeal into your mouth.
“just the t.v, wasn’t aware it so loud.” you lie. she narrows her eyes. "it was a documentary"
"oh really? about what?" she asked leaning in closer. fuck.
"uh..it was about the uh…about the ocean! yep!" you blurt. "the ocean and its life. and uh...uh.." you look down and take another bite of food. she stares at you a few more moments before shrugging and continuing her own breakfast.
“whatever freak.”
whew that was close.

Day 7: Free
@azrielappreciationweek
Neither Cassian or Rhysand knew why Nuala and Cerridwen insisted on getting Azriel home from his mission as fast as possible.
They did not know that Azriel had the same agreement with all of his spies.
If anything dangerous, anything at all, happened in Ironcrest, they would tell him immediately.
Because Ironcrest was where his entire heart lived.
“But if it’s something important about Ironcrest, we would need to know,” Rhys tried to get the twins to speak.
They just looked at each other and in the end nodded in agreement.
“There has been a rebellion in Ironcrest,” Nuala spoke.
Cassian felt his entire body freezing. What? How did that happen? They had been watching the males in Ironcrest for months now!
“The leaders tried to clip one of the girls’ wings and all of the females in the camp went together to stop them,” Cerridwen continued.
The females rebelled against the males. This was not good. Cassian couldn’t image all the terror the females must have gone through.
“They’re all locked inside the leader’s house and all the children they could find is locked inside the ‘school’” Nuala explained.
Rhys had heard enough.
“Cassian,” he started and Cassian knew immediately that this was the High Lord speaking. “Get as many illyrians you can and make sure they’re on our side. We need to intervene before this gets too out of hand.”
Cassian stood up and was ready to leave when Azriel rushed through the door.
“What’s going on?” He asked looking directly at Nuala and Cerridwen, but it was Rhys that answered.
“There has been a rebellion among the females in Ironcrest,” Rhys stated in his neutral High Lord voice. “I need you to-“
But Rhys didn’t manage to finish the sentence before Azriel had started moving.
“Where are you going?” Cass asked, but Azriel didn’t stop.
“Go with him,” Rhys commanded. “I’ll get the illyrians.”
Cassian rushed to get to his brother.
“I’m going with you,” he said.
“Hurry up then,” was Azriel’s only answer.
Cassian expected him to refuse, but this only made things easier for him.
The second Cassian was close enough, Azriel grabbed him and shadow walked. And after one small break in the middle of Illyria, they ended up in Ironcrest.
Azriel let go of him and immediately started moving towards a small house. The lowest of the two floors looked like it was a restaurant, but Cassian had never been there.
Azriel ripped open the door and started looking around.
“Mia?” He shouted. “Mia, it’s safe. You can come out now. It’s Azriel. I have my friend Cassian with me. Do you remember me talking about Cassian?”
His behavior confused Cassian. Who was Mia?
“Az, what are you doing?” Cassian asked.
“You can either leave or help me look,” Azriel spat back.
The two of them continued up the stairs and walked into a small bedroom.
“Mia?” Azriel said again, more softly this time. “You can come out, I promise it’s safe.”
A careful knock shifted their attention towards the end of the bed.
Azriel sat down on his knees and knocked once on the floor. Cassian was starting to worry his brother had gone mad when the floor near the bed answered with not one, not two, but three knocks.
Azriel knocked four times and suddenly the plank at the bottom of the bed was moved. Up from the floor came a small illyrian girl. She couldn’t have been older than four.
“There she is,” Azriel said and opened his arms. The girl ran into his chest and Azriel picked her up. “Are you unharmed?”
The girl nodded into Azriel’s chest.
“You did so well, Mia,” Azriel continued and kiss the top of her head.
“Momma said not to come out unless it was her or you,” the little girl said in between her soft sobbing. “I tried to be quiet, but I was so scared.”
Azriel cooed at her and brushed some hair away from her face.
“Was there someone here that wasn’t me or momma?”
“No, daddy” the girl answered.
Cassian felt his eyes widened at the two of them. Azriel had a daughter? A daughter he didn’t tell him about?
Azriel met his confused look and just shrugged at him.
Cassian just mouthed “what the hell?” at his brother.
Azriel just mouthed back “later”.
With his daughter still tucked safely into his chest, Azriel and Cassian started to move down the stairs. That’s when Rhys contacted them.
“Feyre and I are at the school. I have about 15 illyrians, we need to get going. How fast can you get here?” Rhys asked them.
“We’re there in five minutes,” Cass replied.
The two of them rushed towards the school, Azriel walked a lot slower than usual as all his attention went into comforting Mia.
She had cried herself to sleep by the time they arrived.
The school was a mess. The older teen girls were trying to comfort the youngest kids. Some held babes that were no older than months, others held each other as they cried in terror.
Cassian soon noticed Madja and some other healers from Velaris that were comforting and healing.
“Rhys and the other’s already left,” Feyre suddenly stood in front of them. “Who is that?”
She noticed Mia clinging to Azriel and Cass saw how she immediately started worrying about the little girl.
“Her name is Mia,” Azriel told her, but left out the important detail of her being his daughter. “I need you to watch her. Please don’t leave her out of your sight, her mother would kill me.”
Feyre nodded and Azriel carefully placed Mia in Feyre’s arms. He gave his little girl a small kiss, before he nodded at Feyre and made his way out with Cassian.
Cassian got more and more curious about the little girl’s mom and hoped that she would be okay.
Feyre held the little girl until she woke up. After Azriel had left it only took about fifteen minutes before she started to stir and wake up.
She looked up at Feyre with confused and tired eyes.
“You’re not momma,” she said with a yawn.
“No, I’m Feyre. And a friend of mine told me that you’re Mia.”
Mia only nodded at her.
“Do you know where momma is? Or where daddy went?”
Feyre felt her heart break a little at her questions. She had no idea how any of the females in the camp was doing. And if her dad was an illyrian from this camp, he probably wasn’t the nicest.
“I’m afraid I don’t know, sweetie” Feyre answered honestly.
“Daddy saved me, why did he leave?” She asked.
Her father saved her? The male that had been carrying her was Azriel. He couldn’t be her father, right? She would have known about that, wouldn’t she?
Feyre spent some time looking closer at the girl’s face. She had dark drown her and brown eyes, but so did most illyrians.
That’s when she noticed the small shadow twisted into the girl’s hair.
“Do you know your father’s name?” Feyre asked.
“Daddy’s name is Azriel and momma’s name is Y/N and they love me very much,” Mia answered.
Even though it was a shock, Feyre couldn’t say she was too surprised at Azriel having a secret family. The entire male was secrets, so of course he hid some from them as well.
“Your daddy went to help his brothers help your mother,” Feyre tried to explain.
“When will they come back? Momma promised to sing me to sleep.”
Feyre’s heart broke even more. How could she lie to this sweet little girl?
“I’m sure she will sing you to sleep as soon as possible.”
Feyre had been at the school for five hours before her mate informed her of the first females making their way to them.
The entire school turned into a mess. Females everywhere were crying. Some had lost their mothers and sisters, others had lost their ability to fly.
There was also the occasional happy reunion.
Madja and the rest of the healers were working so fast trying to save some lives or wings.
Feyre held Mia’s hand as they moved through the school.
The little girl had neither spoken nor slept for the last five hours since their last conversation. She had been clinging to Feyre the entire time.
Feyre started to become anxious to find her mother. Mia had not eaten in ages, but she simply didn’t trust anyone that wasn’t her mother or Azriel apparently.
The two of them moved slowly through the school. Mia looked anxiously around and after about an hour of looking, they finally found who they were looking for.
“Mia!” A cry filled voice said.
Feyre turned and immediately found the sweetest looking eyes. Mia let go of her hand and started running.
The female was currently helping another female dressing her wounds, but she stopped the second she saw her daughter.
Mia ran into the Y/N’s arms.
“Momma,” Mia cried multiple times.
“I’m here my little fly,” she answered. “I’m so proud of you Mia.”
Mia almost melted into her mother’s embrace and it seemed like her mother did the same.
“Thank the mother you’re okay,” the female muttered.
After a while the Y/N looked up at Feyre and her eyes widened. She moved to stand and picked up Mia.
“Thank you so much, my lady,” she said with a nervous nod. “Thank you for everything.”
“No need to apologize. I just did what I would want someone to do with my son if I wasn’t there.”
“But I’m sure you’re so busy and you still took time to watch my Mia. Thank you so much. Mia, have you thanked the High-”
Y/N turned her head and noticed a sleeping Mia in her arms. Feyre almost felt Y/N’ relief and saw how much she loved her daughter.
“She didn’t sleep much after Azriel left. And I haven’t been able to make her eat or drink.”
Y/N just nodded still not looking away from Mia.
“Is he okay?” She asked with a soft voice.
Feyre absolutely loved the feeling of happiness she felt when she realized the female was talking about Azriel.
“I haven’t heard from them in an hour or so, but I’m sure he’s okay. I’ll tell you the second I know.”
“Thank you.”
Cassian, Rhys and Azriel rushed towards the school.
It took almost ten hours, but they had been able to threaten the camp leader to stop wing clipping forever. Moving forwards, Cassian and his men would watch the camp more closely.
The three of them were exhausted, but nothing stopped them from making sure all the females were now safe.
They walked in through the doors and immediately saw Feyre.
Cassian saw almost all the tension leave Rhys’ body at the sight of his mate. He could not wait until he got home and could snuggle up with Nesta.
Rhys gave Feyre a strong hug and a small kiss, before Azriel interrupted them.
“Where is she?” He asked and Cassian noticed the absence of Mia.
“They’re over there,” Feyre answered softly and pointed towards one of the corners.
Azriel immediately rushed towards the corner. He almost fell to his knees and embraced Mia and the female that held her.
Mia’s mother, Cassian realized.
“Have I missed something?” Rhys asked with a raised brow and a small smile. He was looking at Azriel and his girls.
“Azriel apparently has a daughter,” Cassian said.
“Not exactly,” Feyre informed softly. “Mia is Y/N’s daughter and Y/N and Azriel started dating a few months ago. They have known each other for a while longer, but Y/N wanted to make sure he was the right for her and Mia before she introduced them. Mia has also recently started calling Azriel her dad.”
The three of them look over at the small family with tired, but smiling expressions.
“He looks happy,” Cassian broke the silence.
“He absolutely does,” Feyre agreed.
“I’m happy for him,” Rhys said and the two others agreed.
