So out of dnp who do you think is dab and who is evan?
hi anon! thanks for asking this, it's a very fun question. i wrote a whole bulleted list of dab and evan's traits in my drafts to try and work it out 🤣 i feel like dan is very dab (how fitting) in that he's
quite dramatic
an actor — which, yknow, dan isn't an actor but the content he puts out is a lot more stylised / scripted / themed etc compared to phil's. so, more structured i guess (also wasn't dan a theatre kid??)
more arty
plays piano! (even if dab plays it badly — the point is it's a common trait and he'll get there eventually lol)
i have less points for phil as evan, it's more vibes. phil and evan seem to be more lowkey than dan/dab in a lot of ways, but i think they have a quirky flamboyant side that makes its appearance at the best and most unexpected times which i enjoy a lot.
hopefully this is something. i didn't really follow the sims series back before the hiatus so i'm sure other people who did would have more solid, factually-based evidence, but this is what i got based off the new vids!
#also i saw that you sent the same question to other blogs as well which is so fun!!! i wanna see the consensus#but also when i was scrolling through my tl i was like oh crap i can't look at these now lest they influence my own answer before i have on#but now that i have answered myself i'm gonna go look at the others' opinions haha#dan and phil#dnp#answered

An ask blog needs asks to generate content but can't do that without asks... so how would a new (or recently revived) ask blog get the people's attention?
Oh, oh, yes! Advice time! :D I’ve been in the ask community for a little while now, so here are some things I’ve gathered over time for when you’re getting started (I’ll be assuming yours is a Pokémon ask blog, since you’re asking this to one).
Keep in mind this is long af and a bit detailed (though it’s only the first part that is long). If you’re interested in a in-detail guide, click ‘read more’ (which I would be very thankful for, I wrote all this shit for you after all, fam).
Here’s a little summarized version as a TL;DR for everyone else:
#1: keep your blog clean. If it’s about Pokémon, it’s about Pokémon; if it’s about Sonic, it’s about Sonic; if it’s about trees, it’s about goddamn trees, so no rebloging random puppy pictures or funny videos here, leave that for your personal blog, not your ask blog. Also try to keep all the out of character crap to a minimum.
#2: Have reference pages for your characters available. That’s actually a minimum requirement. An ask hints page would be useful too, but that’s optional.
#3: Have a tagging system to make everything easier to navigate.
#4 [OPTIONAL]: Give your blog a theme. Make it pretty, make it yours, and for the love of God, deactivate the god damn infinite scrolling.
#5: Tags are your friends. Tag your first post with “signal boost”, “first post”, and/or “intro post”. Tag every Pokémon that appears in your posts, including that one barely visible Caterpie in the background. Tag all your posts as “Pokémon ask blog” or “Pokeaskblog”. Tag. Tag everything. Tags are your friends if you want to be seen. Tags. Tags are. Your. Friends.
#6: Interact with other blogs. Like crazy. You are sure to be noticed when you’re freaking everywhere. Don’t forget to be nice tho. And don’t bully or harass people, for fuck’s sake.
#7: Take a chair, sit over there, get comfortable and be Patient. Like really freaking patient. Wait for months if necessary, but asks will come eventually.
#8: Have fun. That’s the whole point. Talk to people, make some shitposts, engage in silliness, and draw those magical pocket monsters that can shoot lasers out of their asses and we all love. It’s fun.
And that’s it. There’s not much else I can say, so I hope this is helpful! :D
Here’s the detailed thing:
Step #1: Organize your blog
It doesn’t seem like something that important, but believe me, it really is. Nothing turns me away from a blog faster than it being messy af and full of random, unrelated stuff. In order to keep your blog all tidy and pretty you can:
a) Refrain from reblogging anything unrelated. (If your blog is a sideblog, skip this one): You can reblog that video of that one adorable otter in your personal blog, but if your ask blog is about, say, Pokémon, don’t reblog anything that isn’t Pokémon related. If you want to go even further than that, only reblog things that are directly related to your blog, like mentions, fanart, or rp responses, instead of some random Squirtle GIF.
b) Have info pages/references of your characters available: By this I mean having specific pages containing information about your characters, including a visual reference, if possible. Reference pages are very important, since they allow people to quickly get to know a character and make interaction easier. They can contain information as simple and basic as their name, species, moves, etc. to more elaborated things, like occupation (if they have one), personality, or a brief summary of their past story/origin (unless you want that to be revealed as the story progresses in your blog or through an ask).
If you don’t know how to make a page, >here’s an easy tutorial.
b.2) Having an “ask hints” helps a lot when trying to receive asks, since it’ll help people who want to interact but aren’t sure of what they should ask. You can have general hints or individual hints for all the characters.
c) Have a tagging system: Having your posts clearly labeled makes it a lot easier for anyone who wanters through your blog to find the specific content they’re looking for. Here are three basic tags that make your blog easier to look through:
#OOC: “out of character”, for everything happening, well, out of character. Maybe an announcement, a shitpost, a question directed a the mod, etc. Try to keep ooc things to a minimum.
#IC: “In character”, exactly what it says on the tin. Use this for answered asks towards the characters, plot posts, rp interactions and responses, ect.
#[Character’ name]: Tag the characters that appear in a post, for anyone who wants to look through asks with one specific character in them.
Tags help a lot for getting your blog noticed. We will talk more about this ahead.
d) [OPTIONAL] Have a nice theme: This isn’t obligatory, but giving your blog a theme will make it look better and more ‘professional’. Here are some blogs that give really good, free themes/codes for Tumblr:
https://glenthemes.tumblr.com/
https://yukoki.tumblr.com/
https://zuvia.tumblr.com/thms
https://strawberryjeon.tumblr.com/tagged/themes
https://felinum.tumblr.com/tagged/theme
http://hellolittlered.org/themes/type/tumblr/
https://magnusthemes.tumblr.com/mythemes
http://dianthus-s.tumblr.com/themes
https://raiidens.tumblr.com/tagged/themesbyraiidens
https://yeolithm.com/portfolio
These are just some, but there are many, many others out there. Look for a theme that fits your tastes or your blog’s atmosphere, and customize it! You can even use this blog’s theme! However, make sure to not use overly saturated colors that make it painful to look at, it- kind of defeats the point. You can Google ‘color palletes’ if you need help with that.
NOTE: If you don’t know how to install a Tumblr theme, >here’s a simple tutorial
NOTE#2: Sometimes Tumblr might not let you install a specific theme and shows you an error message that says that it can’t be installed because it is “making a reference to non- https directions” or something like that, which didn’t use to happen before. >Here’s a tutorial on how to fix it, it’s quite simple, actually.
NOTE#3: For an ask/rp blog, I recommend a theme with one column, and that shows tags and captions, like the one in this blog.
If you’ve got any question about installing or customizing a theme, you can ask me, and I’ll see how I can help!
Step #2: Tags help you to be found
Be sure to use tags in your favor. Here are some things that have helped me a lot:
a) If you’re starting a Pokémon blog, tag every Pokémon that appears in your posts; that way, people looking through the tag of that specific Pokémon will be able to see your posts.
b) Again, if it’s a Pokémon blog, tag your posts as “Pokémon ask blog” or “Pokeaskblog” (or both), people looking for pokeaskblogs to follow usually look though these tags regularly.
c) Tag your first post/posts or intro as “Signal boost” and “First post”. There are blogs in the Pokémon community that look for posts tagged like this and reblog them to give them a ‘boost’, which helps a lot when you want to be seen. I’m not sure how many of these are still active, though, but you won’t lose anything from trying.
Step #3: Interact with other blogs like a madman
Send lots of asks! Interact with other blogs! Follow even more blogs! Send fanart and nice messages! Reblog/Like those posts of people looking for new blogs to follow! Some people will find you through someone else’s answered ask, some people will notice you’re following and will check you out, some people will see you in a like or a reblog, and overall there are higher chances of being seen when you are everywhere and interact with everyone (also, it’s really fun to just interact with other nice people over here).
Just make sure to be nice.
Step #4: Be patient. P a t i e n t. I’m serious.
If you think you’ll get lots of followers in a matter of a couple days then start forgetting about it. It took me two weeks to get my first ask at asktheweirdpichu, and a week and a half to get one here. And they were both spam. I cried. Two years later (holy heck has it really been that long?) I’ve got so many asks accumulated that I’m starting to think I should just fake my death and end my suffering (I’m joking, I love every single ask I get and get excited every time I get a new one).
It will take a while, but you’ll see that after enough time you’ll get noticed more and more, so don’t give up, you’ll get there.
Step #5: Don’t forget to have fun.
Make some friends, have some silly interactions, make some shitposts at 3 am, draw someone’s character and watch them shoot effusive love at you, enjoy your favorite blogs. That’s what all this is about.
And that is all! I hope it was useful! :D

TL;DR - I almost botched the bonus of the Gaius contract (Skyrim’s Dark Brotherhood) because of a dragon.
So a couple of days ago I completed Skyrim’s Dark Brotherhood storyline. Favorite storyline in the game, great characters, atmospheric quests, excellent rewards for completion, etc.. Most of the quests were pretty easy bc I already had substantial levels in sneak and bow. I did have some issues with the wedding quest but I eventually got through it via mayhem scroll.
And then there was the Gaius Maro contract.
I think that one has to be my least favorite in the DB because of all the waiting I did for him to get where he was going. Between the waiting and lessened ability to use ranged weapons it took longer than most other quests. But I’m not here to complain about the contract. I’m here to talk about what happened at the start of the contract.
Here’s context for anyone who hasn’t played the DB and doesn’t care about spoilers. At one point in the story you have to assassinate a man named Gaius Maro as he travels from hold to hold. You also have to plant a note on his body that incriminates him in an assassination attempt. To get the contract bonus you need to kill him in a major hold, not on the road or in his starting location. You can pick up the schedule of his travel at the start point, or you can just follow him. To even start him off on his route though, you have to travel to the starting location. And if you’re like me, you hadn’t found it yet, which means no fast travel directly there. Fun.
After getting the contract I fast traveled to the nearest location and started to book it to him. Trying to get this overwith as quick as the others and all that. I didn’t think there would be any complications around this part of the quest. It would be easy enough to just visit a place, hear a dude talk, and then fast travel elsewhere. Oh do I wish that’s how it went.
One more thing to note. I’ve liked the majority of stuff I’ve come across so far as I’ve played the game. The biggest exception to this is the random dragon attacks. They are irritating, happen at the worst possible moments, and most of the time I’m not prepared when they happen. So imagine with me my joy when, as I’m trying to reach Gaius, I hear the sounds of a dragon attack.
I genuinely thought I could just book it and eventually lose the dragon, but this guy just would not get off of my tail. Dude kept trailing me through the wilderness. Landing, trying to attack, he would not go away. Eventually I hid under a bridge near the lcoation, and that worked a little, because he wasn’t attacking me anymore. Still wouldn’t leave me alone. The fricker was just circling overhead. So eventually I just ran over to the location and he was still following me. I can only imagine what these dudes thought. “Oh there’s a khajit running this wa-HOLY CRAP A DRAGON” or something like that.
Now that there were more people for the dragon to murder/eat/whatever it wanted with me, I don’t have a clue, it was distracted from me. Started blowing ice at everyone else. At this point I had resigned to the fact that Gaius might die so I just joined in on fighting the dragon. This winged lizard was way too resilient but eventually he got stuck on the path or something. He was easy to kill after that but like... dang.
Now I thought that things were going to go back to normal here. You know, I just helped kill a dragon, absorbed its soul in front of everyone, hey neat stuff. Everyone would be on my side and we could get on with business. But then as I’m standing on the road after looting the dragon Gaius comes RUNNING UP OUT OF NOWHERE AT HALF HEALTH AND WAILING ON ME WITH A SWORD. If my memory serves correctly, other guards started attacking me too because of this. As far as I could tell I did not directly assault Gaius at all. I didn’t even see the dude during the fight. Any arrows I shot were aimed at the dragon. So cue a “what the heck bro??” moment before I fled off into the wilderness.
Now, granted, I did have a contract to kill him. And I did kind of bring a dragon over to his camp. But I also helped to kill that dragon and absorbed its soul in front of his face, so idk what his problem was.
Basically the moral of the story is that I’m the best assassin ever.

Why do you think that when seemingly funny thing happen, they happen to Dean? Like the fear thing in Yellow Fever or the age thing in 5.07 and 10.12 (both old and young!) or the memory thing in Regarding Dean. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of others (and also the not so funny like the vampire thing in 6.05 and of course Demon!Dean in S10). But I can't really picture Sam on those situation tho, Dean is perfect xD
And this is why Plucky’s is my favourite episode, because the thing happened to Sam and it was also perfect but in a completely different way :P
If you’ve seen the gifset ever of that con where they were talking somewhat seriously about this, before someone said Sam was the straight man to Dean and then Jared imploded… I mean, I need someone to turn that up for me so I can stick it in the “thanks Jared” section of my massive bi dean meta etc resource… But also they WERE making a serious point before they derailed it :P
The show has a lot of quietly set in stone dynamics. I mean, well, they’re stuff that can get subverted or a particular arc or season will try to explore things from a different angle, but even when they try to do that they still work within certain rules.
I should probably just make a gif of it for myself, but my favourite visual for this is in 11x04… actually it’s 2am and I have the Sleep Madness so I’ll just do that…
It’s such a wonderful image of the 2 of them, with Sam wearing red and Dean wearing blue, and top and tail like that. They’re 2 parts of a whole but they’re utterly different people and they’re often mirror images to each other in ways where when something applies to one, the direct opposite is shown in the other.
(Sidebar: it’s why I’m so delighted that Sam was like blah blah Cas is family and then Dean was like you may be able to forget Cas but I can’t!!!!1 in 13x03… But on the other hand there are things where the nuances get lost and people make weird wrong assumptions like us having to endlessly prove Dean is the smart one because of the lingering first impression that doesn’t let anyone create any nuance after “sam went to college and dean didn’t”)
Anyway, setting up a straight man and comedy sidekick duo drops that all on Dean because from the first episode Sam’s all serious and has epic angst, while Dean tries to lighten the mood and clearly has the snarky sort of attitude that lends itself towards being the comedic one. Even when they make Dean angsty, Sam is serious and Dean big brother picks on him a bit sometimes (in a nice way) and teases him a lot - this is all broad strokes season 1 characterisation I’m talking about, really. But yeah, even if they go super deep or make Dean super angsty, he’s established as the character who can deal with it. And sometimes dealing with it is shouldering a cracky episode’s concept because they know his reactions are going to be easier to sell the thing.
The other thing is emotional POV and Dean’s largely established as the character who has that. Sam spends a lot of time unavailable as the emotional POV and Dean has shouldered entire SEASONS of it (season 6 especially where he was the ONLY viable emotional POV character for large chunks of it). Emotional POV is not really who the episode is ABOUT but what character is reacting to it and filtering how we should feel about a thing for us. In 6x03 when Cas wants to read the kid’s soul to get info, Dean steps in like wtf we don’t torture kids, but Sam and Cas outweigh him because utilitarian means to an end for the greater good blah blah. It makes it clear if we’d missed it that Dean is the only person whose judgement can be trusted until further notice. So until then, we always have to check in with Dean to get the read on a thing.
Anyway because Dean is the emotional POV we cry and suffer along with him, but we also laugh along with him.
In 7x14 even when Sam gets a funny episode about him, the clowns aren’t really revealing anything about him - we knew about the clown fear since 2x02, it’s explored before the fight but largely for Dean’s benefit, and Sam getting the crap kicked out of him by clowns makes him a hilarious object for us - the fight scene is ridiculously funny but it IS just Sam having the snot beaten out of him while they come up with creative ways clowns would WRECK you in a fight. Dean gets an emotional showdown with the guy controlling the fears, and is the one who learns a lesson from it, while Sam had never really been set up for anything other than being the centre of attention of all the nonsense because it was really really funny that he was scared of clowns. It’s like the “the ball washer” “the what?” exchange explains Sam’s entire role in the episode.
(Which was Dean doing big brother teasing but like the entire narrative decided to torture him :P)
And meanwhile when Dean gets the hilarious episodes which turn out to be really really painful, we get deep explorations of his psyche. 4x06 explores his hell trauma and reveals a lot about what he went through, and his fears about what Sam will become (LOVE THAT DABB EXPOSITION :D)… Idk about the old man Dean episode but he had some DEEP scenes with Bobby in it I seem to recall… I think @thejabberwock was probably giffing it recently and putting it on my dash for me to scroll past without really looking the moment I recognised what episode it was :P) but it was an episode that let them sort of relate to each other a bit better I think. Or Dean to feel for Bobby some more. Idk, I think there is a super important conversation between them? This is what happens when you put an episode on your “eeeeh skip it unless you’re being weirdly thorough” list :P
But yeah young!Dean was a massively important Dean episode exploring deep down in his character, but just delivered through silly moments about cake and Taylor Swift and complaining about puberty. Or the CAR THING with Sam where it’s a huge description of their relationship that Dean hops in the car seat even though he might not be old enough to even legally DRIVE her, and then Sam gets in the front seat and Dean just squishes him, hauling the seat forward for his tiny legs to reach the pedals. Like, Sam didn’t argue and it didn’t occur to Dean and they only swapped AFTER this bad dynamic caused a stupid mess and crushed Sam? Hello entire codependency metaphor :P
(And I don’t think I need to explain 12x11 since it was so recent and so so awful about Dean D: Oh gosh, you could have just given us the Larry riding montage and no episode and that would have been enough :P)
Anyway as the emotional POV this stuff happens to Dean because changes to his self is the plot idea to help with stuff that’s to come or to explain things that already happened in the main plot, or really OTT situations they want for their own sake, that push the boundaries of his character but seem more to do with the main plot unfolding, make sense to explore through Dean, because his emotional landscape is often plot relevant, and the exploration even if it’s wrapped up in a silly concept, usually makes a lot more sense to apply to him because we already have a vast playground of his characterisation to mess around in. 10x12 and 12x11 especially were calling on everything about Dean. I think the writer even went on Twitter I guess when he was writing it and polled everyone on the most Dean-like things they could think of, and clearly got the answers “music, pie, car and girls” because those were the main metaphors of subverting Dean’s character that he offered.
I don’t think this is to reflect negatively on Sam - he gets some fascinating character stuff but connected to the main plot and not delving him in the same way Dean is delved (I think the imbalance and not understanding how they’re written can make people sad on Sam’s behalf he doesn’t get enough development in the same way Dean gets it, which is often by default when we care about character stuff over plot. I also think the writing falls into ruts of this which HAVE favoured Dean and his emotional arcs over Sam’s plot stuff). But Sam can get some incredible character stuff out of the plot things - I think Sam in Berens episodes is a great example because I’m still reeling from 13x03 and the stuff he said to Jack, because that’s all using the main plot to explore Sam - even if a lot of it was saying obvious stuff we knew about Sam, he doesn’t really say it too often and forcing him to say it out loud in episode THREE means the season is going to have to build on that or fail Sam (and he’s so wrapped up in what happens to Jack I can’t see his character stuff connected to that disappearing :P)
But yeah, him being the “straight man” means that Dean is bouncing off him to be the funny one, and that really reflects on every level of the show, especially when you take humour and replace it with the emotional connection we have to the show in general and humour is just a great way to game that to get the reaction in a positive way, and Sam’s not the serious one so much as he’s dealing with the big stuff, usually, and that can wander off to all sorts of places like his habit of completely hammering down any other feelings to deal with the things that have to be done. Or to do the opposite of scaling up Dean, he can scale down to be the more serious one in a silly episode. Which doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect him - all the episodes where he had to deal with something happening to Dean that put him in charge it really messes him up. Or makes him really good at poker that one time :P
…
Ah, my neighbours have stopped having a 4 way screaming match outside in the street, I’m going to stop typing and go to bed, so no tl;dr here… it’s turning 2am :D

Crappy Coworker C
Recently posted two different ones. Posting this last one because one post for all three of these lazy people would be hell for you all to go through in one shot.
Coworker C
Coworker C is newer. She’s been here for a few months, but should obviously know what the hell she’s supposed to do by now. Or so you’d think. She essentially takes after Coworker B, who I posted about previously. She intentionally plays stupid to get out of doing work (Seriously. I have taught this girl how to do the same things over and over and over and over again.).
While she actually attempts to help patrons sometimes, it’s a matter of getting her to STOP being so damn absorbed in her Twitter (Which, side note, I’ve seen in the corner of my eye while helping patrons and looking toward the center of the desk where they tend to stand. TONS of NSFW fan art that she really shouldn’t be looking at while at work? Not like how on Tumblr you can occasionally get the “oops someone reblogged nudes for art references” that you scroll past. Pages of it.) and Reddit fanfiction to actually notice people. I mentioned that she does this with coworker B if these two are on desk together. I swear she’s like, some long lost relative or clone of worker B…
She’s nice and all, don’t get me wrong. Just. Lazy. She’s also on-and-off rude-ish to patrons. Like, if you’re helping someone, it doesn’t matter if you’re gonna be a minute or two late for your lunch. Big deal, we understand. That’s why there’s always two people at the desk- so the prior shift gets relieved on time. She has, on more than one occasion, “Oh, I can’t help you right now. I’m about to go on lunch. Please wait until my coworkers get here.” You do NOT fucking do that! Do you have any idea of how bad that makes the rest of the department, hell, the rest of the library look? We’re a nonprofit. We need people to like our service and all so we get donations, book sale support, etc. People have legitimately told us “Oh, I stopped going to [other library] because you guys are much more helpful here. I generally donate to both, but I’m going to donate more to you guys now.” We realllllllly don’t wanna lose that. We kinda need it.
Finally, I always close with her at least once a week. When we’re about to close, we are to do as follows:
- Turn public computers off and tidy up around them
- Turn the card catalog computers off
- Take the walkie talkie back to the office to charge
- Turn off the microfilms
- Do a walkaround to make sure the table lamps in the reading room are off, there’s no trash out, etc.
- Empty the donation jar
- Lock the cash drawer
- Turn off the digital frame
- Reshelf any reference books
- Take any circulating books left out to the reshelving area in circ
Guess who gets to do all of that alone every time she closes with C? Yup. Me. C is still too absorbed in the computer to do much of anything. Sometimes she’ll get up and turn some stuff off when there’s no one online for her to chat with. But that’s not very often… The two other coworkers in my department that actually DO stuff have had the exact same issues with the coworkers I’ve posted here about. Nothing can really be done about A other than hoping she retires. B and C are issues that have been spoken to/indirectly mentioned in department emails but there’s been no changes. I’m trying to figure out how to go to a supervisor about this because it’s a load of crap, but I get nervous about things like this because I’m not perfect, either, and I don’t wanna start workplace drama somehow. D| If I’m asked about how they’re doing I’ll definitely say something, but I don’t wanna be like HEYO THERE BOSS and start talking about it out of nowhere- especially since so much crap with them happened while she was out after surgery.
--------------------------
TL;DR
Coworker C is essentially a copy of coworker B- plays stupid to get out of work, ignores patrons, does nothing to help with closing, and also gives horrible customer service about 90% of the time. Only positive with her is that she willingly deals with the difficult people.

Hey sorry if you've already answered this but do you have any opinions on the hot new trendy BL comic Killing Stalking? People seem to either absolutely love it or hate it with a burning passion. I personally don't think it's anything amazing or something I haven't already seen before but maybe you have some interesting thoughts about it. (I guess I should warn about the excessive violence in it if someone here decides to try it out)
I got a few asks about this already! It’s only a poster child for my wheelhouse sowhat the hell!
Trigger warnings for heavy violence, murder, emotionalmanipulation, and pretty much all forms of abuse.
Killing stalking follows a stalker (Bum) who breaks into hisobject of obsession’s (Sangwoo) home. However he discovers a tied up and abused woman in his basement. Turns out his crush is a serial killer whothen abuses the shit out of him and forces him to behave like an obedient housewife.
For a stretch in the middle there was a bit of sex and theviolence stopped and I was bracing myself for some kind of moral of, “You seeall Sangwoo needed was an emotionally broken lover to pamper him like his Mommycouldn’t do and he’d be all better! Don’tyou feel bad for him?” Thank god thatdidn’t happen….yet.
So far the story has been pretty much Sangwoo’s attempts tobreak Bum and an idiot suspicious cop snooping around.
I wouldn’t say I love or hate it yet…my feelings are more ofannoyance.
Let’s start off with the art. The art in itself is competent. The character designs are pretty good. I will say I liked the scene where Bum’s chinwas cut open and it flashes back and forth to cutting up meat. That, to me, really cemented how impersonalthe violence seemed to Bum. That Bum isjust a piece of meat to Sangwoo. I alsolike how there is a good focus on Bum’s fear. Such as once when Bum tried to escape images of his chin being slicedopen kept flashing through his head.
However I’m really not a fan of the style of comicing being used. I don’t know what it’s called but it’s whenthere is a giant vertical strip of white you keep scrolling down that’s occasionallydotted with panels. I understand it wasmade for the internet, and perhaps I’m old fashioned, but I love when a page istreated as a piece of art in itself rather than just a bunch of boxes withfaces in them.
This story also has the habit of repeating panels forsuspension which I find tedious and ineffective in comic form. Repeating lyricscan raise tension in a song because behind the lyrics the music swells. Staying focused on a face in a movie/showworks because of the strengthening music in the background and you can see theperson’s breathing quicken/hear their heart-beat/see their sweat roll downthem, see their panicked eyes vibrating, and etc. Little of that can be used effectively incomic form.
However I may feel this way because I rarely feel suspensefulduring the tense scenes because I’m not invested in any of the characters and Iknow the MCs will not be killed off until much later.
Speaking of which, and perhaps this is a reflection of howjaded I am, but I find the story…boring. BUT FAPS, HAVE YOU NOT SEEN HOW FUCKED UP AND VIOLENT IT IS?!?!?!
The violence has 0 impact on me because there is no deepmeaning to it. Hell even if the violencehad absolutely 0 meaning that could be a reflection of the world’s disregardfor victims of domestic violence or how we’re so good at detaching ourselvesfrom the violence around us. The meaningof the violence in this story is simple cheap provocation. It’s not fun action (thankfully) but it’sjust a pathetic prod at our sensibilities. It, so far, has not made any commentary ondomestic violence, glamorization of abusive men, Stockholm syndrome, objectification of women (most of his victims are women), or society’s glamorizationof serial killers. It’s boring becausewe really haven’t gotten very far in the story. It’s mostly a bunch of stabs atbreaking Bum. (You see what I did there? Har har!)
The police officer side-plot is just infuriating to me. His backstory was told so quickly I almostmelded together two separate stories. They want us to feel bad for him because everyone around him treats himpoorly but all those folks are the most unbelievable 2-d villains it makes mejust hate the author instead. He alsohas VIDEO EVIDENCE of Sangwoo assaulting Bum but he doesn’t share it withanyone. I get it that his one superiorobviously has a soft spot for Sangwoo…but you can hardly argue with that videoevidence…and there’s not a single soul in that station full of petty anddistrustful jerks that doesn’t eat up Sangwoo’s shit?
His response is thehighly unprofessional and downright illegal “I’ll just snoop around his housefor evidence out of uniform but it’s okay because I’m a police officer.” In the 5 minutes he gets to talk with Sangwooand investigate he just fucks up over and over again. I want Bum to be saved but the fucking idiotof a police officer just makes me sigh because there’s no way he’s not going toget horribly murdered soon.
Though I’ll tell you what, this story would be VASTLY moreinteresting if it was told solely from the police officer’s point of view. Mysterious guy at Sangwoo’s door claiming tobe a relative when you know he has no relatives left, Sangwoo’s parents diedunder mysterious circumstances, despite being well-liked Sangwoo lives in an abandonedsector of the city, the video of Sangwoo kicking the crap out of the 1stmysterious guy, and then you spy that mysterious guy in his house but he hideswhen you enter. Yet as you continuefollowing this police officer you wonder if he just has something out for thisrandom popular guy since he doesn’t have much evidence and so on.
Oh well! What else? There’s the fact that Sangwoo seems too implusive and not smart to keep his record soclean despite how many people he’s killed. There’s the fact that, of course, both our leads had very abusive childhoods(I’m seriously hoping Sangwoo is lying about his) which caused them these maladaptivebehaviors. The nudging at possiblemental health issues without understanding jack shit about it is OH SO CLASSYspecifically the pathetic attempts at Freudian bullshit with Sangwoo trying tomake Bum his mom.
However I am glad they balance Bum’s negative obsession withhow desperately he wants to be out of that situation. They don’t portray Sangwoo as a good guy, ortheir relationship as anywhere near healthy. Sangwoo’s attempts at manipulation are pretty chilling at times with howhe blends cruelty and affection. So it’snot all bad…but it’s far from good.
TL;DR
Somehow makes a serial killing breaking someone boring. All of it is just shallow, predictable, edgyfluff. Yet it doesn’t fuck all of itsportrayals up and can be legitimately creepy at points.
