Who do you think was Sycamore's first pokémon ?
taking a break from boobposting to answer this ask i kept bc i wanted to doodle something for it--
i'm not sure how to put this (i'll do my best) but for me bc of the origins of pokémon and its ties with bug collecting and stuff i am very attached to the concept of augustine developing his interest in studying pokémon biology thru taking care and looking after bug pokémons. i often draw younger him as frolicking in the muds with lots of random critters etc. for example this drawing from my 2017 inktober is still dear to me:
so i'd like to think his first pokémon would be a scatterbug, maybe? i started thinking about it seriously as i was pondering this ask and i think he would name them "princesse" without even caring whether it's male or female and he would bring them home to his mom and be very proud of himself. maybe he'd keep them until he had to move out to sinnoh for his studies, at which point they'd have evolved into a vivillon and they'd part in couriway town on good terms...
in general i don't think augustine thinks of himself as "owning" pokémons the same way someone who might identify closer to a pokémon trainer would. like, dgmw, juliette is his garchomp but i don't think he conceptualizes his relationship with her the same way lysandre would his relationship with his pyroar, for example, and i think this goes both ways in the sense that maybe their relationships are less ? tied ? i guess? which doesn't make them any less strong obviously but i hope you can understand what i mean...
anyway in closing i hope you will accept this doodle of small augustine and princesse (baby)
#la réponse d#i think about his demo team a lot i'd like to think he borrowed them from someone.#but also the idea of him having like. pokémons he rescued at the lab and then just let do whatever they wanted once they were strong enough#including leaving or staying in the lab gardens to just hang out and some of them being like. really fucking powerful#through no effort on his part just bc they were treated well and were into battling to begin with#and just being able to go 'hey i need a pokémon team for sth rn who wants in' is hilarious. ngl.

it's a crime i can't find any pokemon au where jun's only pokemon are those that look like cats and you're trying to be friends with him but your teams just can't get along >:((
sorry for the bullet points but i’ve had this idea in my brain for two weeks and i don’t have the brain cells to type it out 😭😭😭 ok so. i might have gone crazy with pokemon au catboy junhui and only minimally included team shenanigans :(
junhui runs a cat rescue. except it’s a pokémon rescue, where he takes in pokémon that are injured or disabled and unable to fend for themselves in the wild or battle
he didn’t mean for this to be his career— when he was young, he wanted to be a pokémon master, as many youths do. but then when his own meowstic was critically injured by a houndoom’s Bite during a battle and never seemed to be able to fully recover, junhui threw himself into rescuing pokémon
(there are a lot of abandoned pokemon wandering the streets. after all, what good is a pokémon if it can’t fight?) (if their former trainer isn’t willing to be the one to give them a home to rest in, junhui will be the one)
due to the nature of his work, he finds himself frequenting the pokémon center a lot, and he grows close to nurse seungkwan. sometimes the injured pokémon can be healed and returned to the wild or adopted out to another trainer, but sometimes the pokémon don’t recover. and then one day, nurse seungkwan refers junhui and his blind and sickly litten to you— a researcher who just entered the local professor’s lab
you’re fresh from the academy, and you specialize in studying the healing abilities of pokémon— their ability to heal themselves, how to most effectively develop potions using natural berries, and how some pokémon even have the ability to heal others. you get a call from your school friend seungkwan with a difficult case for you, a litten who was hit by a poison type move. the poison shouldn’t have hit as hard as it did, but something happened to the litten— no matter how many different types potions or antidotes it was given, it never really recovered from the poison
so you go to see the injured litten, but when you get to the pokémon center, there’s also a trainer— he’s tall and willowy and handsome, and he’s chewing on his lip, anxiously soothing the whimpering little pokémon
(luckily you have an experimental antidote you’re working on, and it helps the pokémon regain partial sight)
eventually junhui comes around again, and again, and again, each time with an injured pokemon. you try your best to help them regain function. you can't help but to become slightly enamored with him and his kindness and patience, even when the rescue pokemon lashes out or tries to attack.
just to make it cute, let's say that you tend to gravitate to dog and fox-like pokemon. your loyal companion is your old childhood stoutland, who is long past his prime and wheezes and snuffles when he runs. stoutland is absolutely loyal to you and follows you around the halls of the lab, despite his dislike of junhui's frequent cat-like visitors.
of course junhui's meowstic is standoffish and unfriendly. she's not aggressive by any means, but she definitely turns her nose up at stoutland. stoutland, in turn, tosses his head and harrumphs. the two of you are dismayed.
(but one day when junhui is over, the two of you get distracted. he's telling you about one of his adventures while making dinner, and by the time you notice how strangely quiet it is, you also realize that stoutland and meowstic are missing. slightly worried, the two of you search the lab, room by room, until you find them in your office -- stoutland is curled up in a sunny spot on the carpet, snoring, and curled up into his side, paws kneading at his shaggy belly, is a very happy meowstic)
#tehehee#anon#ask#97.yn#97.writings#i don't think this goes in the 97.drabbles tag?#but anyways im just having funnnnn#anyways i guess i'm still accepting requests even though i'm already behind on my backlog again#seventeen scenarios#pokemon au

ok so literally nobody asked but i i’m gonna talk about my moms’ pokemon cause i miss them
i miss my moms too but their pokemon are more fun to talk about
they both just have four pokemon, for whatever reasons. they’ve never really given me a straight answer about it, so i’m guessing something bad happened, but idk
pretty much all of their pokemon help out around the lab or with fieldwork, and they’re all pretty smart (from my perspective at least)
my mom grew up in nacrene city like i did, so she’s got a fairly regular set of pokemon
her starter’s a seismitoad named foggy (they have a much longer lifespan than you would think). he mostly helps with fieldwork, but he also likes just hanging out with the local palpitoad and tympole. i think he has secret kids in pinwheel forest somewhere, but mom won’t let me follow him to find out :/
he’s always been a bit standoffish to me, but that might just be cause i don’t really understand him. i was scared of him when i was little, which is really funny considering i was never scared of…
her haxorus, evergreen. well, she was a fraxure until i was like 9, but still. she was a ‘special rescue’ from a shelter that couldn’t take care of her. she broke one of her tusks at some point before mom ever met her, which was the big reason the shelter couldn’t take care of her
i have no idea why my mom was able to take care of her, but that’s another one of those things i’ve never gotten a straight answer about. apparently evergreen used to be super aggressive because of the whole ‘broken tusk’ thing, but she’s been super mellow the whole time i’ve known her. like, ‘tolerates a toddler pulling on her tail’ mellow. anyway, she doesn’t do much around the lab, but she’s great at deterring wild pokemon from breaking in
mom also has missy the cincinno, who is the most uptight old lady you will ever see. she’s very serious about lab clean-up procedures, and is genuinely terrifying if you put a beaker in the wrong cabinet. trust me. i know.
she relaxes a lot when she’s around her other (better) half, but i haven’t gotten to him yet. she’s sort of like a ‘tough love’ type. i learned how to clean my own room real quick when i was little so i didn’t have to deal with it though (she wouldn’t let my moms do it)
my mom’s last pokemon is seashell the floatzel, who her dad apparently caught for her on a business trip to sinnoh (that’s also the most i’ve ever gotten from her about her dad). she’s really nice, and she helped teach me how to swim. she’s a surprisingly good swim instructor!
she’s very much a ‘take it easy’ sort of pokemon. she used to help with scouting out new areas, but since my moms don’t do much of that anymore, she makes sure that new pokémon populations they plan to study won’t be outright hostile. she takes her job more seriously than she takes anything else, which doesn’t say much, but yknow. still!
my mama’s from azalea town in johto, so all her pokemon are johtoan. she also thinks the funniest thing in the world is pokemon with people names, so… yeah.
her starter is daryl the slowking. he makes sure things are running smoothly in the lab, and mama’s trying to teach him how to read so that he can fact-check her numbers too. last i checked, it’s actually going better than you would think. but then again, apparently he can telepathically speak johtoan, so it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. i wonder if mama’s teaching him unovan?
anyway, daryl always kinda felt like a big brother to me. he’s always looking out for me, and of my moms’ pokemon, i think he was the saddest to see me leave on my journey (although he also definitely knows i’m coming back. he’s too smart not to)
mama also has jenna the bellossom. since grass-types are relatively easy to care for, mama put me in charge of ‘taking care’ of jenna from a pretty young age. really that just meant turning on her sun lamp, watering her, and giving her fertilizer, but i loved it. she’s probably why i love grass types so much now!
jenna helps when my moms have to actually bring pokemon into the lab physically by putting them to sleep first. damage reduction for everybody, basically. she also helps out in our garden!
and since i’m sure you were on the edge of your seat waiting to learn about missy’s other half… he’s edward the espeon. a direct contrast to missy, he’s the nicest old man you’ll ever meet. if he were a human, he would be the kind that gives out full-sized chocolate bars on halloween
he mainly helps out by levitating things around the lab/keeping things steady. apparently it took a fair amount of training for him to actually behave in the lab, though. he was always good with me. my mama has a picture somewhere of edward levitating me when i was a baby (he was a bit stronger back then)
my mama’s final pokemon is nokoribi the ninetales. her name translates to ‘ember’ in unovan! she clearly doesn’t fit mama’s naming scheme, which is because she was named like 300 years ago by her first trainer. since ninetales live for so long (i honestly don’t really like thinking about it), there’s a tradition in the kanjoh region where they’ll be owned by families instead of just individual trainers, and get passed down from generation to generation
nokoribi is very calm, but in a different way than seashell or evergreen. calculating, almost. sometimes i think she’s smarter than she lets on
…but then other times she tries to eat plastic and whines for an hour when we won’t let her. it’s honestly a mixed bag with her. you never know what you’re gonna get!
i could go on and on about all the dynamics that they have, too, but i feel like this is enough info for a post that nobody asked about. i’ll post more about my moms’ pokemon if somebody wants me to or if i feel like it again, cause you can’t stop me >:3

I have no idea why, but I thought Mint was Dawn/Lucas/Barry's age. I didn't expect them to be a whole 19 years old XD. Though them being 19, how does Emmet even take them under his wing? Aren't they a little old at that point to need a mentor, even if he has new/weaker pokemon?
Sorry, I'm just trying to understand how Mint and Emmet's dynamic even works after everything calms down. It doesn't seem like Emmet has much to offer besides being a more straightforward person than what their grandma was.
And even if Emmet's a strong trainer what's stopping Mint from just finding some other ace trainer to get tips from? I think you even said Frontier Brain Argenta was their blood relative (who would probably be just as straightforward as Emmet would be in her teachings if they asked her to be their mentor). So wouldn't they gravitate more to her than to Emmet, her being actual family?
IDK if I'm saying my questions right (words are hard), but I guess I'm trying to ask is what makes Emmet the person Mint wants to learn from when they really only knew the man for a collective few days at most (if I'm remembering the timeline of events correctly)?
I can assure you a 29 year old can absolutely mentor a 19 year old. Mint is only just getting an idea of what they want to do and how be a proper adult.
Mint spends allot of the story trying to meet their grandmother expectations or to help the pokemon they perceive to be in danger.
While Ingo is who Mint is chasing and offers some sound advice before he and Akari run off, Emmet is the one Mint will have a few full conversations with long before the kidnapping. Emmet and Elesa ask Mint about the lab they work for and Mint boast about their position and their success and how Team Flora wants to help others. But then when the two start pressing for more details and what the lab has done, Mint starts to put things together and realizes that, yeah, it doesn’t add up at all.
Emmet is the person who helps Mint see the truth. To inspire them to look deeper into what the lab is actually doing. And when Looker makes contact with Mint, to find Proof.
They and Emmet cross paths enough before the eggnapping and kidnapping that they have a respect for each other. When Emmet is kidnapped Mint does everything they can to help him, both getting medical supplies to care for any injuries and to keep his real identity a secret. It’s about a day or two between when Emmet is brought in and when Ingo and the others go to rescue him, so they do talk quite a bit in that time.
And it’s not just a matter of looking up to someone who’s strong. Emmets skill with his Pokémon does not even really factor into Mints respect for him. (Ingo is the one Mint battles usually.) Emmet being so straight forward and honest with Mint is exactly what makes Mint respect him. Right now, everyone else Mint is suppose to work with us either dismissive to them, lying to Them, or clearly lying to themselves to continue working at a place like this.
(Or just entirely to happy with their job, which is what’s going on with Belladonna’s second command researcher, Sarin. He’s the one who does most the hands on experimenting and is a rotten individual.)
Also, Mint isn’t close at all with Argenta. She’s their dad’s older first cousin who visits for holidays occasionally but not much other then that. Argenta is Belladonna’s favorite niece and her successes were always used in comparison to Mints dads. So like, she’s family, but not someone Mint grew up knowing at all.
But yeah, to clear things up: Mint knows Emmet for longer then a few days. They cross paths over a dozen times and Mint was the Lab grunt that would show up when the cops reported capturing ‘Ingo’. (Blaze did not bother because he’s busy actually tracking him down lol)
After the main plot, when everyone is zapped to Unova, Mint is sent by international police to spends a few weeks in Unova with them as they are a VERY valuable witness to everything that happened and there are a handful of dangerous team flora members that got away. (Including the before mentioned doctor Sarin as well as another enforcer character Zhenniii and I have been working on called Scald. Cause every pokemon story needs a post-game plot/villian.)
So it’s durring the time in Unova that Mint gets to know everyone better and they all really bond. But since Emmet was who really helped Mint see the truth of what was happening and the fact that they were there to help him and update him during his kidnapping, the two do become close friends and Mint genuinely looks up to him.
Also Emmet must teach them his ways of resisting electric Pokémons shocks if Mint wants to help with the Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode lol

Characters Bios
Name : Sacha (Satoshi/Ash)
Age : 25
Former City : Pallet Town
Current City : Vermilion City
Occupation : Trainer, Ranger, Research Fellow for the Sakuragi lab, challenger in the Pokémon World Championship. Former Orange Islands/Kalos League/Alola League Champion. Chosen One (much to his dismay).
Family : Delhia (adoptive mother), Crys (twin sister). Professor Kukui (father figure), Professor Burnet, Lei (little brother.)
Backstory : Leaving the house at 10 like most of the young aspiring trainers in the Pokémon world, Sacha will face all sort of challenges and adventures along the way. At 11, during his first championship, the Indigo League, he’ll be reunited with his twin sister, Crys, that he never knew he had. He’ll also meet his best friend and first friendly rival, Ritchie. They kept traveling on their own journeys, reuniting occasionally along the way (movie 2 and 3 events, for example.)
After traveling through Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto, he’ll go to Hoenn where his Aura power slightly awakens during his time there, like a sort of enhanced instinct. After a short training time in Koga’s dojo to improve his battling abilities, he’ll go to Sinnoh (where he’ll find a Riolu’s egg and will hatch it).
Then Alola, where he’ll attend the Pokémon High School, specializing in Ranger and Battling classes. Living at Professor Kukui’s place, alongside Lilie, and developing a strong father-son relationship with him, his closest friends are Gladio, who joined the school once his sister was safe, and Hau.
Chosen by Tapu Koko, he’ll receive the ability to control lighting and electricity, and he’ll focus on it, neglecting his Aura ability. He’ll be his spending his last year traveling around Alola with Crys, the twins finally taking the time to actually live together for a while, and will win the first Alolan League.
He’ll then leave to challenge the Battle Frontier from Kanto, and will become a Frontier Brain. But ever chasing after his dream of being a Pokémon Master , he’ll then leave for Kalos to challenge the League. Meeting his Greninja, they’ll develop the Battle Bond, which is directly linked to his Aura. After winning the league, the Lumiose Crisis and his meeting with Lysandre will leave him pretty shaken, and he’ll go back to Alola for a while, to heal his body and mind. Once ready, he’ll be back to Kanto without a real plan, but life will lead him to a certain Fateful Encounter.
Personality : Cheerful and optimistic, Sacha is an extrovert who loves to bond with others, Pokémons and humans alike. Formerly quite an over-confident young trainer, he grew and learned a lot from his experiences through his journey, to become a focused and skilled trainer, and a good leader. Very empathetic, he’s always ready to help those who need it without thinking twice, and will often rescue hurt or abused Pokémons, and will always think of their well being before anything else. He’s very much in the moment and sometimes will have difficulty to see what’s right under his nose, but he is pretty good at reading his friends in general.
Skills and abilities : Good athletic skills, climbing, stamina. Martial Arts training. Mastered Z-move with Pikachu, Battle Bond (Synergy) with Greninja. Ability to channel electricity/lightning and enhanced athletic skills (strong jumps and balance). Aura Guardian.
Guardian : Tapu Koko. (And being the Chosen One, he’s bound to meet many Pokémon Legendaries and Deities.)
Main Pokémons (in rotation at Sakuragi’s park) :
Name : Crys
Age : 25
Former City : Aquateal City, a small seaside town at the east of Fuschia City
Current City : Kiyomi Island, Orange Archipelago.
Occupation : former Trainer, Top Ranger.
Family : Sacha (twin brother), David (adoptive father), Esy (adoptive mother) , Ema (adoptive little sister). Matsuba (main mentor).
Backstory : Separated at birth from her twin brother , Crys learned about him when she was 8, and got obsessed at the idea of finding him again. Taking on the occasion, she’ll follow her instinct and will leave on her Trainer Journey at 10. She’ll meet Ritchie along the way, and will be reunited with her brother during the Indigo League. However each of them decided to pursue their own journeys for a while, and Crys and Ritchie will leave for Johto for a while, before reuniting in the Orange Islands again, prior the second movie events. Meeting her guardian Lugia, she’ll receive the ability to control wind and air, tho it’ll be very weak at first.
After completing the challenges of the islands (but not competing for the League), she’ll be back in Johto and will compete the League (ranking top 8), where Matsuba will notice her and take her as an apprentice in Ecruteak City, as he detected her skill for Anpsi.
She will then leaves for Hoenn as a Ranger trainee, helping the Rangers to rescue Kyogre from Team Aqua, before joining properly the Ranger school in Almia. She often goes back to Ecruteak City to complete her training with Matsuba, and will do her internship in the Pokemon Marine Laboratory close to New Bark Town.
She’ll then join Sacha in Alola for a year of traveling together around the Archipelago, and will increase her Wind ability to a powerful skill, as the elemental energies are very strong in the islands, and will complete her ultimates grades of Ranger training.
She’ll establish as Ranger on Kiyomi Island, in the Orange Archipelago, but is sent accross the PokeWorld for different missions. After a big personnal crisis, she will go for 18 months of martial arts training on the Isle of Armor, then back to Ecruteak City, before going to support her brother at the Kalos League finale. She’ll be on the front for the Lumiose crisis and will help Sacha to escape from Lysandre.
Finally then making her way as a Top Ranger, part of the Instinct division under the leadership of Spark, she currently trains new Rangers rookies and will sometimes join Sacha and Goh for field trips.
Personality : even though she has an optimistic nature like her brother, Crys is less of an extrovert and will have more difficulty to bond with people at first. She’s just as empathetic, and will naturally choose to become a Ranger - battling was fun, but she is not competitive at all! She can sometimes be a bit short-tempered, but values honesty and trust above everything else and will be very protective of her loved ones. She likes to find little wonders in everyday life and she has the weird habit of mimicking Pokémon’s cries to try to communicate with them, and is very interested in observing and understanding their behaviors. Most of her Pokémons are rescues.
Skills and abilities : Stamina. Martial Arts skills, weapons included. Extended behaviorism knowledge on feline and marine Pokémons. Ability to control and create wind/air. Anpsi with some species.
Guardian : Lugia
Main Pokémons (in rotation at the Myrtifolia Ranch)
Name : Ritchie (Hiroshi)
Age : 25
Former City : Celadon City
Current City : Kiyomi Island
Occupation : Trainer, Ranger, owner of the Myrtifolia Ranch (rescue and rehab center). Challenger in the Pokémon World Championship.
Backstory : Ritchie grew up in Celadon City in a disfunctionnnal family, with an abusive father and a mentally fragile mother. As soon as he reached 10, he took the opportunity and left, forever turning his back to the city. Having befriended Erika a few years before leaving, she offered him the Rainbow Badge so he wouldn’t have to come back to challenge her.
He quickly befriended Crys on his journey and supported her during the Indigo League through her reunion with her twin. He and Sacha became best friends, and friendly rivals, Ritchie defeating him in the League, where he reached top 4.
After the events of the second movie, he received the ability to generate and control fire from Moltres. He competed in the Johto League and won, and Asuna took him as an apprentice for a few months.
During an adventure, he was separated from his Pikachu, Sparky and thought him dead. This event took a toll on him and he decided to stop battling altogether. He kept studying legends around Pokémons and eventually joined Crys on the Ranger’s training. After almost 2 years, he’ll be reunited with Sparky, who survived and was rescued by Mew in the Tree of Beginning all this time.
After completing his Ranger training, he received some money from his mother’s inheritance, and decided to buy a Ranch on Kiyomi Island in the Orange Archipelago, and focused to create a rescue and rehab center for abused Pokémons. He will hire Touko to help him at the Ranch, and soon will gain a great reputation, keeping in touch with Professors from all around the world.
He’ll occasionally leave the Ranch to help on rescue missions, and training a rookie. But the flame for battling never really left him and he decided to join Sacha to compete in the Pokémon World Championship, even tho he has some catching up to do, and during that time, will let Touko runs the Ranch.
Family : Father (still alive), mother (deceased). He considers Crys and Sacha to be his real family.
Personality : Despite his harsh childhood, Ritchie is someone profoundly kind and open to the others. Good natured and collected, he was mature from a young age, but somehow never lose his passion. Analytical, he tends to be less reckless than the twins - which saved their lives once or twice, but sometimes can lack courage in situations that could trigger him. Curious and resourceful, he’s pretty clever and quite handy in a lot of situations. He has the habit to nickname all of his Pokémons.
Skills and abilities : Good athletic skills. Extended knowledge on Pokémon Legends. Mechanics and electronics skills. Fire ability.
Guardian : Moltres
Main Pokémons (in rotation at the Myrtifolia Ranch)
Name : Goh
Age : 21
Former City : Vermilion City
Current City : Vermilion City
Occupation : Research Fellow ; intern student at the Sakuragi Lab.
Backstory : Goh grew up in Vermilion City and never really left. Despite a burning passion about Pokémon, his isolated childhood due to his parents overworking, and years of bullying at school, never really gave him the courage to throw himself out in the world. His only friend for the longest time was Koharu, and he probably spent more time around the Sakuragi home rather than his own. He spent hours studying Pokémons, either alongside the Professor to-be, or locked in his room, but actually never spent that much time with Pokémons themselves. After seeing Mew during a summer camp, he became quite obsessed by the idea to catch it. During a summer vacation he befriended Tokio, and after a misunderstanding that will definitely damage Goh’s trust in other people, they reunited during teenagehood. They had a brief relationship, but between Goh still having trouble to trust people, and Tokio’s trainer journey, they didn’t push the thing very far and remained good friends. After graduating in advance from high school, Goh attended Vermilion’s University and started to work his way to become a Professor. Sakuragi eventually asked him to carry on his internship at the Laboratory, and offered him the job of research fellow, leading to a certain Fateful Encounter.
Family : Camille (mother), Walker (father), Halta (grandmother.)
Personality : If at first he appears calm and collected, Goh’s inner fire is burning bright, his passion for Pokémons letting him show a very enthusiastic and stubborn side. A gifted child, his cleverness and compulsory thirst of knowledge about his interest leads him to over sharing and have a certain pride in it, not always being very modest, but his love for Pokémons is genuine and he longs to bond with people sharing big dreams like his. He sometimes needs a little push to take the first step, and will give up easily on things he won’t manage on the first try, but has a great capacity to learn and grow from his mistakes. His socials skills are not always the best, but he is a very supportive and loyal friend, and extremely caring to his Pokémons
Skills and abilities : Extensive theoretical knowledge on Pokémons in general. Analytical mind. High intelligence. Extremely good aim. Computer/tech savvy.
Guardian : Suicune.
Main Pokémons (in rotation at the Sakuragi Park):

Note: I have no idea how tagging someone works on this app, but I’m trying :(
So, I was on Tumblr and I saw someone with the username @prismtowerprincess (they’re awesome btw, I recommend checking them out) and it gave me an idea:
The story of Rapunzel BUT make it Pokémon XY. More specifically, Diodeshipping (Clemont X Ash)
Let me explain.
Basically it’s a rewrite of the Disney film Tangled but in the Pokémon XY universe.
So for the plot, Clemont is the lost gym leader trapped in Prism Tower, locked off to all of Kalos (there are only 7 gym leaders of Kalos because the 8th one went missing as a child and therefore Prism Tower was put out of business) Clemont was kidnapped at the age of 1 and a half by Xerosic (on Lysander’s orders but we don’t know that yet) because he was somewhat prophesied to be some kind of genius that shaped the future of Kalos and Lysander didn’t want that prophecy coming true. Xerosic is manipulative through Clemont’s childhood and convinced him not to go outside, as Xerosic only enters through a window at the top of the tower. To get up, he asks Clemont to let down his HAIR [Handy And Indestructible Rope] which Clemont does ever day without fail. Whilst he accepts his life, Clemont is getting bored of the way his life is since he’s seemingly read every book, worked on every calculation, made every invention, etc. He wants to see the Pokémon made electric shower that happens to fall each year on the night of his birthday, but Xerosic won’t let him, telling Clemont in greatly exaggerated detail about the dangers of going. When Clemont asks Xerosic again on his 16th birthday, he snaps and yells at Clemont, who hides in his room out of fear. Xerosic leaves, and Clemont goes and sits in his closet like he does when he needs some alone time. Xerosic tells Clemont that he’ll get the him a new wrench for his birthday, and leaves to go to the mechanics shop.
Meanwhile Ash is on the run with Jessie and James, who don’t trust Ash but need him for their heists. Whilst Jessie and James like stealing unique Pokémon from Kalos and trading them for money, Ash prefers stealing gym badges. They just stole the only Mega Evolution Stone from Professor Sycamore’s lab, so the professor sends the Royal Kalos Defence Force to arrest them with the chase being led by a Pikachu, who is at first underestimated by Ash and his crew. But after witnessing first-hand the power of Pikachu’s thunderbolt, the trio end up separated with Ash having to fly solo. After complaining that the wanted poster messed up his nose, he spots Prism Tower, and comes to the conclusion that since it’s a gym, he can rob the gym leader there. And since Pikachu is hot on his tail, he has no choice but to climb up and hide. Clemont hears Ash enters the building, ventured out of the closet and knocks ash out with an old wrench, tying him to a chair with his HAIR in a panic. When Ash wakes up, he sees Clemont walking around the room looking highly anxious, and mockingly asks him questions like if he was a boy or a girl due to Clemont’s longer than average hair, referring to him as “Gender-bent Goldilocks” on occasion. Clemont demands to know who Ash is, and naively believes the wanted man when he says his name is “Tom-Ato” Ash asks for the stone back and Clemont says that he’ll return the stone if Ash takes him to see the electric shower. Ash reluctantly agrees, but secretly plans on betraying Clemont at the earliest opportunity. Ash gets Clemont to use his HAIR as a way of escaping the tower rather than letting Xerosic into it, but still, Clemont is terrified. Reluctantly, Ash carries Clemont to an isolated first as the blond haired man is too scared to walk on the floor since he’s never been outside before and when Clemont gets on the grass he runs around in an excited phase. He continually flips between a mood of joy and depression/fear of Xerosic’s response. Ash uses his guilt to try and force Clemont back to the castle, but Clemont refuses. However, he bumps into a Luxray and is scared easily. Whilst Ash is tempted to leave Clemont stuck up a tree he climbed to escape the playful Pokémon, he eventually gives in to his gut and goes to rescue Clem who proclaims his gratitude for “The Heroic Tom Ato” which makes Ash laugh. Clemont eventually grows to trust the Luxray, who joins them on their quest into the centre of Lumious City where the electricity event takes place.
Meanwhile, Xerosic asks Clemont to let down his HAIR, and when he doesn’t, Xerosic grows concerned. With Lysander’s orders to never let Clemont leave the tower ringing in his head, he runs up a hidden emergency staircase, breaks into the tower and is dismayed to see that Clemont isn’t there, as well as the stolen mega evolution stone laying in the closet floor. He pockets the stone and begins using a set of goggles to track Clemont’s footprints. After seeing another set of prints next to Clemont’s he lets out a panicked cry and chases after them, running into Jessie and James along the way. The duo are musing about the lost stone and Xerosic demands they tell him who stole the stone (and Clemont). They challenge him to a battle - if he wins, they tell him everything as well as help him, and if he looses, he gives them all his possessions. Xerosic agrees.
Ash takes Clemont to a pub in order to scare him back into the castle as the people inside all have reputation of somewhat dangerous trainers. When Ash and Clemont walk in, the entire pub turns on them and recognises Ash from the wanted posters. They close in on the duo, and as they’re backing up Ash tells Clemont that it’s not too late to “run back home.” This approach almost works until in a state of fear, Clemont asks some of the people closing in on him if they’ve ever had a dream to follow. One by one the “menaces” in the pub reveal their not-so scary dreams. Brock wants to be a doctor. Misty just wants to be better than her sisters. Tracy wants to be an artist. Serena and May just want to dance and Cilan wants to open up his own restaurant with his two brothers. Ash confessed his dream is to be seen as a champion and Clemont says his dream is to see the electric shower. Ash sees Jessie and James directing an unfamiliar man in a red lab coat (Xerosic) to where him and Clemont are, and panics. He grabs Clemont and they try to escape out of the back, where they are confronted by Pikachu and a squad of Dedennes. Cilan grabs Clemont and directs him and Ash to an underground tunnel that will get them out of there, which the two and Luxray run down before Jessie, James and Xerosic can get in. Unfortunately for them, Pikachu also manages to follow them through the tunnel. Xerosic walks in and demands to know where the tunnel went. One of the people in the pub - Alain - tells him against the wishes of Brock and Misty. Xerosic takes Jessie and James to beat Ash and Clemont to the exit.
Clemont and Ash are halfway down the tunnel when Ash hands Clemont a pokeball. Clemont asks what it is, and Ash revealed that it would be easier for them to travel if Luxray was inside the pokeball. Clemont bolds the pokeball out, Luxray bops it with his nose and is sucked into it, and caught. Clemont is panicking that Luxray disappeared, whilst Ash reassures him that Luxray is safe in the pokeball. As the two get near the exit of the tunnel, it ends up looking like more of a cave and a stone is knocked loose, causing the cave to start flooding. This results in the water blocking their light source and the exit is hidden from view. (I don’t entirely recall what happens in the film here so I’m sorry and this bit might seem a little random in terms of the rest of the plot) Clemont and Ash are at the point of nearly drowning when Ash tells Clemont he’s really Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town. Clemont then confesses to Ash that he always takes a few of his inventions with him, and pulls out his HAIR, which when turned on, somehow gives off a little bit of light. The duo realise they can use this to escape, and when they find the exit of the cave, Clemont asks Ash why he lied to him and Ash says it’s because “It was easy.” Pikachu then fires an electroball at Ash, but Clemont takes the hit for him. Pikachu stops attacking whilst Ash looks at Clemont’s injury, which is quite a minor one, and Clemont asks Pikachu to trust Ash just until he gets back to the tower after seeing the electric shower. Ash notes that since Jessie and James were trying to capture both of them, they’re probably enemies now. He blames the stone heist on them and Pikachu relents, joining them on the journey. He sits on Ash’s shoulder to make sure he doesn’t do anything illegal.
Night falls and Ash shows Clemont how to make a fire. When he goes to get more firewood with Pikachu, Xerosic emerges from the bushes and grabs Clemont by the arm. He attempts to drag the lost gym leader back to the tower but Clemont breaks free and yells that he trusts Ash entirely. Xerosic laughs and mocks Clemont, saying Ash would never be trustable as the only reason he tolerated Clemont in the first place. He then dares Clemont to put his trust in Ash and give him the stone to watch how fast Ash would leave him. Xerosic then tells Clemont that he’ll be keeping an eye on him, leaves Clemont with the stone alone in the woods near the fire and disappears. Meanwhile Ash is trying to collect more wood but Pikachu is giving him a hard time. Pikachu seems to question why Ash is doing this, to which the boy has no idea. He says that something in his gut is drawing him to Clemont, but passes it off as an “opportunity”. He tells Pikachu how he feels obliged to take care of Clemont and yet again, passes it off as an “opportunity”. He returns to see Clemont visibly shaken and rushes to comfort him. Clemont then shows Ash some calculations based on the fire he did, but didn’t know how he did them. This amazes Ash who tells Clemont that the science he just did was so amazing, causing the lost gym leader to blush. They basically chat and have joke fights like an old married couple for a while, but neither of them are aware of this due to Ash being dense and Clemont not knowing what love is. Meanwhile, Xerosic is watching from the bushes, plotting how to use this to his advantage. He watched from afar as Ash pulls Clemont into an embrace as they go to sleep under the stars.
The next morning, Clemont prods Ash awake due to being scared of the unknown Pokémon surrounding them. It turns out that it’s actually the Royal Kalos Defence Force to arrest Ash and now Clemont as well. Ash asks Pikachu to help fight them off, and Luxray helps Clemont. They fight off the Dedennes and run into the city where preparations for the festival are being made. Clemont is overexcited at the sight of all the machines and Ash actually walks down a whole street is pop-up stands without stealing anything for once! Telling Clemont that, he takes the lost gym leader’s hand and drags him to the middle of the festival where a man called the Blasekin mask is giving a speech about it being his lost son’s 16th birthday. Clemont tells Ash that it’s his 16th birthday too, which shocks Ash. He buys Clemont a slice of cake to celebrate and the duo spend the day playing in three streets with everyone else. Pikachu and Luxray bond as well, and Luxray asks Pikachu and not arrest Ash. Pikachu says he’ll consider it. Non of the other humans know what the two Pokémon are saying.
During the festival, Clemont starts to come out of his shell whilst Ash is also having fun, no longer thinking of the stone. Clemont meets a young girl who says her name is Bonnie, and she’s the sister of the lost gym leader. Clemont asks what the lost gym leader is, to which Bonnie remarks that he “must’ve been locked in a tower all your life if you haven’t heard of him.” unaware of the irony of that statement. She explains that due to a prophecy, her brother was abducted at the age of 1 and a bit, and taken away from his father. Bonnie then proceeds to explain that after her brother went missing, her mother started to grow ill from heartache. When she gave birth to Bonnie 8 years later, the stress of having a baby drained the life from her, and whilst Bonnie survived, her mother didn’t. Both Ash and Clemont are horrified by this revelation and Bonnie remarks that Clemont’s eyes look like hers. She gives Clemont the Lumiose gym badge and smiles at him. Her father then approaches them, tells her not to talk to strangers, and leads Bonnie away. Clemont starts to cry into Ash’s shoulder as Ash stands there looking shocked. Clemont apologises for his emotions and Ash tells him not to worry about it as everyone feels sad sometimes. To put him at piece, Ash takes Clemont to see the flowers that decorate the memorial of the lost gym leader’s mother, which had a stone with the engraving of “The future is now thanks to science.” Clemont says quote feels familiar to him but he can’t place where from, causing Ash to look at him in confusion. Brushing it aside, he drags Clemont all around town to see all the inventions, all of which intrigue Clemont.
On the night of the festival, Ash says that the best place to see the festival is on top of the Pokémon Centre, but Clemont is scared of the heights. Ash helps him up and they watch the electric shower together. In the climax of the shower, Ash leans in to kiss Clemont for a reason he can’t quite place, but before he can actually kiss him, he sees James and Jessie behind Clemont on a building roof across the street and pulls away to go and talk to them. Clemont then gives the stone to Ash, surprising the their greatly, and agrees to let Ash go. Whilst Ash is gone, Xerosic emerges from behind and tells Clemont to be wary of Ash’s motives. Clemont is confused by this but Xerosic merely says he’ll wait for him by the back entrance to the Pokémon Centre. Ash goes to talk to Jessie and James but is captured by them and tied up by an electric net. They take Pikachu and go, leaving Ash to call for help in a soundproof room.
After Xerosic leaves, Clemont is sat by himself on the roof when he’s grabbed by Jessie and James, who tell him he’ll make them a lot of profit. He pulls himself out of their grasp and runs outside and calls for Ash’s help, to which the duo tell him not to bother as Ash was the one who told them to kidnap him before taking the stone and leaving. They back a resistant Clemont into a corner whilst telling him in detail how Ash said he was pathetic but could be used for other purposes, therefore making him a good trade. Clemont breaks down into tears when hearing of Ash’s betrayal and as Jessie and James are about to knock him out, they are attacked by a Malamar. As they’re knocked out, Xerosic returns the Malamar to a pokeball he’s holding, walks out towards Clemont who rushes to embrace him, and yells him that he’s here so everything will be ok. He puts an arm around Clemont and explains that Ash pretended to love him just to get the stone, which breaks Clemont’s heart. Xerosic leads Clemont home whilst the Royal Kalos Defence Force arrest Ash as well as Jessie and James.
Laying awake in the tower, Clemont is looking at the Lumiose gym badge in sadness when Xerosic sits on his bed. Clemont asks Xerosic why he saved him since Clemont disobeyed direct orders and left. Xerosic tells Clemont that whilst he’s very disappointed in him and will most likely punish him later, he still lives Clemont as “That’s what family does.” Clemont questions how they can be related, to which Xerosic ignores him. Clemont wonders aloud where Ash is now, and to distract him, Xerosic pulls out some of Clemont’s old inventions to remind him that he doesn’t need Ash. Clemont looks closely at his inventions and realise that the Lumiose gym badge has been carved on all of them, like some kind of sign. Rushing to his closet, he pulls out his old notebook, the first page reading “The future is now thanks to science.” He confronts Xerosic about it, using the signs and quote to question why he even knows these things from years ago if he’s only learned about them today. Clemont then questions why he’s so good at inventing as Xerosic never taught him, and reflects on how he shares the lost gym leader’s mother’s eyes. He points out how there was a physical resemblance between him and Bonnie, and how the electric shower happens to fall every year on his birthday. He tells Xerosic that his birthday is the same as the lost gym leaders birthday, which sends Xerosic into a panic. Clemont tells Xerosic with no question that he is the lost gym leader, which Xerosic feebly denies. As Clemont starts to question why Xerosic wouldn’t tell him, Xerosic yells at Clemont that he will never leave the tower. Clemont says that Xerosic can’t stop him, at which Xerosic tells Clemont about lysandres “contingency plan” and proceeds to back Clemont up into a corner. He takes the pokeball containing Luxray and puts it in his pocket, causing Clemont to cry out in guilt et not being able to stop Xerosic taking his new friend. As Clemont is stood helpless, pinned in the corner by Xerosic, he pulls out a phone in front of Clemont and phones Lysander, saying half to Lysander and half to Clemont, “Director, it’s time for plan B.”
Meanwhile, Ash is sat in jail with Jessie and James, and he asks them how they could betray them. They say that Xerosic bribed them, and Ash leaves it at that. As Ash tries to break out, they muse about how they need a cool new duo name when a Meowth walks up to the cell and talks in the human language, shocking the three criminals. He says he heard from people within Lysandres organisation called Team Flare that they were using a new method of confining the lost gym leader to prism tower. Whilst Jessie and James are shocked that this Meowth knew where the lost gym leader was the entire time, Ash realised that Clemont is actually the lost gym leader, and that he’s in danger. He begs the Meowth to break them out, to which the Meowth replies “Back up’s outside.” As he breaks the cell open, all of Ash’s new friend from the pub help break him out. Pikachu jumps on Ash’s shoulder, and Ash realised that Pikachu got the people from the pub to come break him out! He thanks Pikachu, and together they rush off to prism tower to help Clemont escape from Xerosic.
When Ash gets to prism tower, he asks Clemont to let down his HAIR, which is lowered quickly. Ash climbs up the rope only to be met with the sight of Clemont in chains with a gag around his mouth, trying to tell Ash to flee. Xerosic creeps up behind Ash and stabs him with a dagger, causing Clemont to cry out in guilt and Ash to tell in pain as he falls to the ground. Xerosic tells Clemont that this is his fault and proceeds to drag him towards a secret trapdoor leading to an isolated basement that Clemont didn’t know about. Clemont is resisting this and eventually manages to get the gag to fall from his mouth and hang around his neck. He then tells Xerosic that he will never stop trying to get away unless he lets Clemont use his invention to save Ash. Xerosic reluctantly agrees and unchains Clemont, who frantically rushes to Ash’s aid whilst Xerosic watches from by the trapdoor. Ash asks what the invention does and Clemont explains quickly that is would patch up the wound. Ash then asks how much it can be used, to which Clemont replies “only once.” As the lost gym leader aims at Ash’s wound, Ash deliberately knocks the invention as Clemont pulls the trigger so that the invention fires at Xerosic instead, causing is body to freeze over in some kind of cocoon. As his face freezes over, the last this he addresses to Clemont is “What have you done?!” He drops Luxray’s pokeball causing the Pokémon to come out. Pikachu then runs up to him and with Luxray they both aim a powerful thunderbolt star Xerosic’s comatose from gyre, causing it to break into small pieces, effectively killing Xerosic. Clemont is too caught up sobbing into Ash’s chest to notice - he asks Ash why he sacrificed himself for him, to which Ash merely replies that “science is so amazing” As Clemont accepts that he’s going to loose Ash for good, he leans in to kiss Ash, to which Ash responds by putting his lips on Clemont’s. Suddenly, Clemont’s glasses light up and like he suddenly pulls out an old fabreze. Using different components from around the room, in less than 15 seconds, he manages to convert it to a “Heal my love-inator” and applies it to Ash’s stab wound. As the bleeding stops and the wound disappears, Clemont tells Ash that they need to get to a Pokémon center now. Ash says he feels fine, which surprises Clemont greatly. Ash asks Clemont how he knew how to do that to his invention. Clemont replies that honestly has no idea, and Ash kisses him again, causing Clemont to blush. He backs away, telling Ash that they can kiss after Ash is patched up by Nurse Joy. Ash says that he feels completely normal, and describes Clemont’s new invention as some kind of “super-duper max revive potion!” which causes Clemont to blush. Clemont reveals that he had no idea what he was doing, which amazes Ash even more. Clemont then goes to look at the remains of Xerosic, trying not to cry. Ash then takes Clemont and his HAIR, saying that he’s free to go and live his life now. Cutting the HAIR apart, Clemont says that he has no use for it and begs Ash to take him around the world because after being locked up for so long, he wants to know what he’s missed out on. Ash then says that there’s somewhere they need to go first.
Ash takes Clemont to the professor’s lab, at which Clemont is completely star-struck. Hearing the duo, Professor Sycamore emerges with Meyer and Bonnie in tow, to which Bonnie says hi to Ash and Clemont again. Professor Sycamore asks them who they are, and Ash merely replies with “So, I kinda stole your stone but I brought it back as well as someone else.” Clemont nervously approaches Meyer and holds out the Lumiose gym badge, saying quietly, “I think I’m your son.” Meyer looks down at him and simply responds with a hug, causing Clemont to blush and Ash to start crying quietly. Bonnie looks at Ash in confusion, and he just mutters “Shut up.” Professor Sycamore says that since the lost gym leader has been found, they can reopen prism tower since it’s been out of use since Clemont was taken as a baby. Clemont just looks at Ash and tells the room that he never wants to step foot in prism tower again, which is why he’ll build a replacement gym leader called Clembot. He also suggests that to celebrate the purpose for him meeting Ash, he makes mini electric showers for Pokémon like Pikachu and Luxray. Meyer explains that those Pokémon are called “electric types” to which Clemont says he wants to know everything about them. Taking his boyfriend by the arm, Ash says that there’s plenty of time for that, and tells Clemont to get ready for the world. As they leave, Professor Sycamore remarks that it’s the world that should get ready for Clemont. Bonnie asks Meyer, “What did the prophecy say again?”
As we see Clemont and Ash on their journey together, we hear the background narration of what the prophecy says, told by Meyer’s disembodied voice. He says that “On a dark summers night, all that is innocent and promising shall be lost. At the other side of the year after many have gone, it shall be found again. The nature of that which has been concealed shall rise to the occasion and bless Kalos with scientific discovery both great and little. A champion shall rise by his side, and together they shall take the world in electric storms, bringing knowledge and prosperity to wherever they go.”
The voiceover changes from Meyer’s voice to Lysander’s voice who closes a book containing the original written prophecy. Shaking his head, we see him walk around prism tower, kneeling by the remains of Xerosic as he sighs to himself. Standing up, he faces away from the camera and says to nobody in particular; “Oh Xerosic, your efforts still remain in vain. I suppose if you want anything done right, you have to do it yourself.”
The end.
That’s pretty much my idea. I wrote it on Notes so I apologise if the text format looks a little weird. I know the plot is a bit rough in some places but please bare with me: I am by no means a writer and merely had the idea in the heat of the moment when I saw the username. Thanks to @prismtowerprincess for the inspiration :) I know this idea probably sucks, but this is just an idea. Hopefully you like it :)

More TABF Pokémon AU under the cut cause I am having too much fun with this AU haha
When Fortune joins Midoriya’s Pokémon journey, the only Pokémon she has is Sylveon, and she’s honestly perfectly fine with just having Sylveon since she has no interest in becoming a Pokémon Master or in forming a team for battles.
However, in the end, slowly but surely, Fortune ends up with her own team of Pokémon, most of which are Pokémon who she has helped/rescued which led to them wanting to join her on her journey.
The first Pokémon to join Fortune’s team after she starts traveling with Midoriya is Riolu.
Unlike all of Fortune’s other Pokémon, Riolu was the only one who actually showed hostility toward her. That’s because it dislikes humans due to being abandoned by it’s previous trainer.
Riolu’s previous trainer caught it in hopes of being able to get a Lucario, but when a long period of time passed without Riolu evolving, the trainer lost his patience and decided that he would just find another way to get a Lucario.
Riolu has always tried to be a good partner Pokémon and trained very hard for the sake of its trainer. So being abandoned like that was a big betrayal for it. It especially hated how all its trainer cared about was making it evolve.
As a result, Riolu has no interest in evolving and wants nothing to do with humans. So it always rebuffs any attempts to catch it.
Because of that, Riolu ends up with quite the reputation, and trainers from all around come to the forest where it’s living in order to challenge it. Unfortunately for them, Riolu always comes out on top against all of its opponents, which just leads to it getting stronger.
Fortune & Midoriya end up coming to Riolu’s forest out of curiosity, but they don’t have any plans of catching it since it’s obvious that that’s not what Riolu wants. They mostly just wanted to see this infamous Pokémon for themselves.
Thinking they’re his newest enemies, Riolu attacks the two when they find it, so they have no choice but to battle to protect themselves. While Riolu is able to get the better of Scorbunny, Sylveon is able to hold its own, so they’re able to avoid getting totally defeated by Riolu.
It’s during this battle that Fortune notices that Riolu has a wound on its arm, most likely from a past battle. She tries to offer to bandage the wound, but Riolu doesn’t want her anywhere near it. So, in the end, Midoriya comes up with the idea of having their Pokémon give Riolu some berries to help with its recovery.
After doing that, Fortune & Midoriya decide to leave since it’s obvious that their presence is unwelcome. Although, Fortune really doesn’t want to leave until she’s sure Riolu’s injury is okay.
Not long after they leave, some members of Team Rocket arrive to capture Riolu, having heard of it’s reputation and deciding it would be a worthy ally. Unfortunately, while it’s able to hold its own for a while, Riolu eventually gets caught via net.
Thankfully, before Team Rocket can get far with Riolu, Fortune & Midoriya arrive on the scene and go after Team Rocket to save Riolu. Riolu is naturally stunned to see them go out of their way to rescue it.
Its opinion of Fortune only grows more favorable when she risks her safety to grab the net holding him when Team Rocket accidentally drops it over a cliffside after their hot air balloon gets attacked by Scorbunny.
After Team Rocket has been defeated and Riolu has been rescued and had its injuries treated, Fortune & Midoriya plan to take their leave since they know Riolu should be fine now.
Much to their surprise, Riolu follows after them and challenges Fortune to a match. It’s during this battle that she realizes what Riolu is after, so when Syvleon defeats Riolu, she throws a Pokéball at it. She half-expects for it to not work, but lo and behold, Riolu gets caught just like that.
While Riolu’s distrust toward humans hasn’t completely faded, it has acknowledged that Fortune isn’t like its previous trainer, and after witnessing her strength firsthand, it decided that it wants to give being a partner Pokémon another chance.
The next Pokémon to join Fortune’s team is Ralts whose brother also joins Midoriya’s team at the same time. The two Ralts decide that they want to follow the humans on their journey after Fortune & Midoriya save their colony/family which got attacked by some other wild Pokémon who were trying to take over the area where the Ralts were all living.
Fortunately, Midoriya & Fortune are able to resolve things between the Pokémon after defeating the main Pokémon who were instigating all the fighting.
Seeing how cool Midoriya & Fortune were in battle with their Pokémon, two Ralts, who have always dreamed on going on an adventure, seek the trainers out, hoping this way they can travel without being separated from their sibling since these two humans are traveling together.
While Fortune & Midoriya are caught by surprise by this, they quickly agree to having the Ralts join their teams. From then on, they start getting involved in doubles battles so the Ralts can team up to fight opponents which the Ralts really enjoy.
The next Pokémon to join Fortune’s team is Munchlax. Unlike her other Pokémon, this one doesn’t get saved by Fortune. It’s just been secretly following her and Midoriya. It’s a running gag that it always shows up out of nowhere whenever it’s time to eat.
Fortune, of course, is fine with this since she could never turn away a hungry Pokémon, so she happily feeds Munchlax every time it comes by to see them. It never once crosses her mind to catch it since she assumes that it prefers being wild and only approaches her because it’s hungry.
As you can expect, Munchlax eventually becomes very attached to Fortune cause she’s always so sweet to it and always gives it yummy food. So eventually it lets her know that it would like to be a part of her team. This catches her by surprise, but she happily agrees to its request.
The next Pokémon she catches is Azurill who she finds crying, alone and hungry. After taking care of it and bringing it to a Pokémon Center, she discovers how young it is and decides that it would be safer at a Pokémon lab rather than journeying with her so she asks the professor from Midoriya’s village to look after Azurill.
After that, Fortune meets Keigo who gives her a Pokémon egg that eventually hatches into a Togepi. While she considers giving Togepi the same treatment as Azuril since she wants it to grow up in a safe, stable environment, in the end, she decides against it because Togepi sees her as its mother and gets distraught whenever it has to go too long without her.
No doubt Togepi would do a lot of crying if she sent it to the professor, so Fortune decides to keep Togepi with her and just do the best she can to raise it.
The last two Pokémon to join Fortune’s team are Bewear and Mimikyu who she both meets when her group takes a trip to Alola after Aizawa gets called there for business and drags the kids along with him for the ride since he doesn’t trust them not to get into trouble while he’s gone lol
In the case of Bewear, she finds one that had been poisoned by another wild Pokémon and immediately helps to cure it with the antidote she has on hand. As soon as its healed, the Bewear runs off and she goes after it since she’s worried about it pushing itself too hard.
When she later finds it, she discovers that a Garbodor appears to be trying to take over the forest where Bewear lives. Considering how Bewear attacks it as soon as it sees it, it’s obvious that Bewear is trying to defeat Garbodor and protect the forest and its inhabitants from it.
Fortune quickly realizes that this must be how Bewear ended up getting poisoned. Obviously, its last battle with Garbodor didn’t end so well.
Wanting to support Bewear, she cheers it on and provides berries/antidote anytime it looks like it needs some. She even shouts out moves in hopes of offering useful suggestions.
In the end, thanks to Fortune’s assistance, Bewear is able to win and chase off Garbodor before it can cause any more damage.
Once that’s all settled, Fortune tells Bewear that she’ll be going now since she needs to reunite with her friends. Before leaving, she gives Bewear some more berries and tells it to be more careful when it’s picking fights with other Pokémon.
Much to her surprise, rather than return home like she expects, Bewear instead just starts following her. Eventually, she realizes that it wants to join her team.
What she doesn’t know is that Bewear recognized how it felt stronger when she was supporting it, and since it enjoyed that feeling, it wants to remain with her and become stronger with her.
Naturally, Fortune is all to happy to agree.
After that, Fortune encounters an unconscious Mimikyu and immediately takes it to a Pokémon Center. Naturally, she’s nervous due to it being a ghost Pokémon, but she puts that fear aside since taking care of a Pokémon in need is obviously more important.
From the nurse there, Fortune learns that this Mimikyu has been in a lot of battles. More than likely, it has gotten attacked due to its scary appearance since it’s not uncommon for other Pokémon to be wary of Mimikyu.
Fortune thinks this is really sad since Mimikyu must be really lonely, not being able to make friends with other Pokémon because of its appearance.
This leads to her trying to be less scared of it, so she can befriend it. What she didn’t expect was for Mimikyu to be so receptive to her since she expected it to be a least a little cautious toward her because of the treatment it’s used to.
However, that’s not the case at all cause Mimikyu quickly becomes very attached to Fortune because she saved it and is the first to show it kindness.
Eventually, this leads to Fortune asking Mimikyu if it wants to join her team since it’s obvious that it really likes her. Plus, despite her nervousness, she’s worried about leaving it on its own.
Unsurprisingly, Mimikyu is quick to accept her offer.
#TABF AU#pokemon AU#I tried to be creative with all the pokemon meetings#rather than have the same kinda situation happen each time#I also wanted to avoid using team rocket for every situation lol#I love the thought of fortune & midoriya both having a ralts#and tagteam battling with them#that would be so cute#hers eventually evolves into a gardevoir#while his eventually evolves into a gallade#they're a badass team

It's time to talk about our dear Prof. Stretch!
Stretch
Species: Monster
Age: 21 when you meet Blue. 23 when he takes over the lab. 27 when Papyrus arrives at his laboratory.
Profession: Pokemon researcher specialized in Pokesans. Responsible for the Swapville laboratory.
Initial Pokemon: Blue
Other Pokemons: Sans (originally from Papyrus), Cherry (Originally Red), Geno (is in his care), Lust (captured to be handed over to a Coordinator), Berry and Edgy and other wild pokemons he takes care of.
“Welcome to the Beginner’s Guide for Master Pokesans. I’m Prof. Stretch and I will be your instructor in this fascinating world.”
Stretch has always loved pokemon since he was a child. As most young people dreamed of being a coach, but because of a lecture by the renowned Dr. Gaster, a genius among researchers, he soon realizes his vocation was to study them and not train them.
He then applies himself to studies and moves on to a renowned college specializing in training researchers. It is in college that he meets his best friend Dynne, a Fish Monster who is on the same course as him.
He decides to specialize in pokesans (being a skeleton has more affinity with them) and as soon as he graduates he goes on a research trip with Dynne.
They choose a forest known for its wide variety of pokemons as a starting point for research and before long they are approached by an energetic pokesans Swap.
Stretch is excited, but the pokesans soon lose interest in them and disappear, but not for long. Stretch soon notices that the pokesans are watching them (he tries to be sneaky, but he sucks at it) from afar (sometimes not that far). He's fine with it, as he watches them he watches him back.
In fact he is very happy, after all that is what he graduated from, studying pokesans and the company also makes him feel safer in this great forest (Stretch lived all his life in the city), even though he does nothing to save them from the poisonous pokepastrys or the badly regarded Pokealphys with whom they came across at a given moment.
One day the pokesans approach again and take them to a cave. He and Dynne discuss the pros and cons of entering (they only have a Escape Roupe and the last of their Repel was spent to pass the pokepastrys nest), but since they are being invited by the pokesans (and the Swap are well known for not being the type who play tricks) they decide to follow him.
The place is a scientific find! It's covered in magic crystals and could be a cave with more magical crystals since Cave Temm. Dynne is terribly excited and despite her own excitement about the discovery, Stretch is happier with the pokesans' rapprochement than with crystals. It is a pity that they were not the first Monsters to find the place. An unknown Monster was tearing the crystals out of the cave without any care.
Outraged by the damage, they try to stop him, only for the Monster to throw his Pokémon at them.
The pokemons start to fight and although the little one doesn't have much technique, he has power. Stretch tries to give some advice and warnings in the middle of the fight (he may not be a coach, but he had watched hours and hours of tournament broadcasts in his childhood). It looks like they can win, and the other Monster also notices this and uses a mysterious artifact to strengthen the pokemon.
Whatever it is ends up with the Pokémon attacking its own master, who runs away. He convinces Dynne to go out for help while staying to help the pokesans.
He tries to convince him to abandon the fight, but the little one is determined to stop his opponent. To protect him from a serious attack, Stretch ends up launching himself on the pokesans and ends up unconscious, only waking up already in the hospital, where he is informed by a tearful Dynne that the moody Pokealphys in the forest had saved them.
Dynne tells of her plans to stay in the forest and study the cave. At least that was the reason she had given it, and Stretch may not have seen what happened there in the end, but he could see that a connection had been established between Pokealphys and Dynne.
He's happy for his friend, but he can't stay. He has to continue his research. Hoping that he also managed to reach the young pokesans he decided to take a risk and invited him to travel with him. To his satisfaction, the little one accepts his invitation and enters the pokeball Stretch offers of his own free will.
Stretch names his new friend Blue (not very creative, but the little one liked it so what's the problem?) and cannot contain the almost childlike joy of finally having his own pokemon (one that chose him and not that he was given).
He cannot deny that for much of the trip his “research” consists of his own pokemon.
Thanks to his studies of Blue he is invited to take over a laboratory (since he would never have money like Dynne to set one up) which he accepts immediately (Blue may be happy walking around, but he is more than ready to abandon the sleeping bag, Center beds, or Laboratory sofas).
The place is great, and is reputed to have a good range of pokesans. He realizes that Blue is not very satisfied (by now he has realized that his pokesans have very different aspirations and starts to worry about it).
He takes advantage of having the equipment and time to put into practice an idea that he had a long time ago, and designs an armor for Blue in order to strengthen it. The prototype is simple, but it works well and if everything goes well he can present it to scientists in the future.
A few years pass and as he thrives on his research (and his laziness) he realizes Blue's dissatisfaction.
One day he receives a visit from an Officer who delivers him a damaged pokeball. She was found at an apparent crime scene and as it was closer than the Center she took him to him.
Stretch puts it on some machines to heal the pokemon inside and to prepare a forced opening. In the meantime he is visited by a young skeleton Monster in search of his coaching license.
The young man already has his own pokemon (one less problem), but while Stretch went over the terms of the license with the boy the pokeball is opened releasing an out of control pokesans that begins to destroy the place.
Amid the confusion the boy's pokemon is injured and Blue and Papyrus, the aspiring trainer, unite to stop the uncontrolled pokesans.
Stretch manages to heal Sans, Papyrus's pokemon, who returns to the fight. In the middle of the combat, Sans evolves and manages to pass out the opponent's pokesans.
Stretch is impressed by the trainer who, even young and inexperienced, shows great talent (battles have never been his forte, but he can admire the skill). He also realizes the connection between him and Blue and even though it breaks his soul, he knows it is the best for his pokesans.
He is willing to give one of his pokeagendas (one of the few built by Dr. Gaster himself) and Blue to Papyrus when he is surprised by Sans who decides to stay in the laboratory.
He sees Blue go on his long-awaited training journey with a heavy soul, but certain that their future will be bright. In the meantime he has two new friends to make.
Sans is very calm and suits his personality well and soon the two get along very well. Geno, the uncontrolled pokesans, on the other hand is a source of concern.
The pokemon was irreparably injured, physically and emotionally. He is clearly entering Fall and Stretch feels his soul tighten just thinking about this sad creature turning to dust after having suffered so much.
He does everything to get Geno back or at least keep him as comfortable / happy as possible.
Later, while doing research to help Geno, he ends up rescuing a fire-type pokesans in the middle of a blizzard.
He takes the pokesans who are also in a state of Fall, but there is something blocking the progression of the disease (to the point that the pokesans himself seems to be unaware of his real state).
Fascinated, he takes care of the pokesans while trying to discover his mystery and if it can help Geno (and several other pokemons).
He baptizes Cherry's pokesans (even though he was clearly a trained and abandoned pokemon, and probably should have a name) and soon the little monster becomes his companion, following him like a nervous little shadow for Sans and Geno amusement.
He captures a Classic Class Lustwhich he will hand over as a starter to a young aspiring Coordinator and much later will have his laboratory invaded by 2 electric Bitty pokesans, who will live there.
There are also several pokesans and other wild pokemons that he knows and helps in the Forest including a mysterious ghost Pokémon that has been haunting his lab (or more precisely Geno).
He relies on the help of Papyrus and Pink (the young Coordinator) to collect data on several pokesans while giving them tips on gyms and pokemons.
Lazy and somewhat sloppy with himself, he is very dedicated to his research and the pokemon in his care. He wears a white coat (symbol of pokemon researchers / scholars) over an old orange sweatshirt, beige capri pants and wide-slippers.
Curiosity: As one of the functions of every researcher, Stretch has to prepare and teach classes, one of the functions he detests in his work and has been running away for years until he is forced (as punishment) to record an entire initiation to the world pokesans to be distributed schools and added to the pokedex data.
He did this more than once, because on the first recording he mumbled so much, and put so many smart comments that he was forced to re-record everything a second time (with the threat of doing it again until he reached the standards of the League Committee).

Absolutely Disastrous Ch 5
AN: Eileen and Marcus Underwood are underused. We need more Underwood family!
Ch 5: We’ll Call it a Day! Everybody Rest Up!
Once they’d taken the path back to Littleroot, it was only a five-minute walk to Zack’s house. There wasn’t much to the residential area of town. All the houses were painted in simple, earthy shades that blended perfectly with the forest.
“Lee’s got the beanie. Lance does not,” Zack repeated for the fifteenth time. “Don’t mix them up unless you want to find whoopee cushions in your beds.”
Melissa rolled her eyes. “Don’t worry so much. Milo and I have plenty of practice differentiating between Absol. Twins are a piece of cake.”
Milo stood out of range so the door didn’t splinter into pieces while Zack turned the doorknob. He kept a lasso at the ready in case a stampede of wild Pokémon tried to carry anyone off.
Zack frowned, jiggling the doorknob a few times. “Weird. We don’t lock it during the day unless nobody’s home.”
Giggles erupted from inside the house.
“Who is it?” a child’s voice called.
“It’s me, Zack!” Zack sighed irritably. “Open the door!”
“Sorry, that’s not the password! Please try again at the sound of the beep!”
“Lee, I have something important to tell Mom and I’ve had a long day already. I’m not in the mood for pranks.”
“It was Lance’s idea!”
“Was not!”
“Was too!”
“Nuh-uh!”
“Lee! Lance! I want to see those hands squeaky clean before dinner!” a woman scolded. “And don’t lock your brother out of the house!”
“Yes, Mom,” Lee and Lance chorused. They continued to bicker as their voices faded away.
The door swung open, revealing a woman in comfortable house clothes. Zack looked a lot like her. Her eyes flicked over to Melissa and Milo.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you two before,” she said kindly. “Not from around here?”
“I’m Milo and this is Melissa!” Milo exclaimed. Diogee huffed at being left out. “And my partner, Diogee. Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about you!”
Diogee snorted.
“We’re from the Mt. Chimney area. And we all just became Pokémon Trainers!” Milo continued.
The woman blinked in surprise. She studied Zack for a long time, who shrank back from the sudden scrutiny. Then she smiled. “Zack, I know you have better manners than this! Milo, Melissa, come inside for dinner. I want to hear how you two managed to convince my boy to become a Pokémon Trainer in the span of one afternoon. Oh, and you can just call me Eileen. Dr. Underwood is a mouthful for house guests.”
Eileen’s tone left no room for argument.
“Marcus called when you left the lab, but all he said over the phone was ‘Zack’s a Pokémon Trainer now’ before hanging up,” Eileen remarked as she set two extra places at the table for Milo and Melissa. “I love him, but that man always forgets to explain the important details. When he got his first Pokémon, he left home without telling his parents goodbye and they filed a missing person report for him! Sometimes he’s just the epitome of absent-minded professor.”
“We had to rescue Dad from a swarm of Magikarp. Some pirate guy was dumping them into the lake and disturbing the ecosystem,” Zack explained. “Milo and Melissa did most of the work on that.”
“You’re the one whose friends with a wild Gyarados,” Melissa said, gently punching Zack on the shoulder. “Stop selling yourself short.”
“Is it true?” Lee demanded, rushing out of the bathroom. His hands were still dripping wet. “Are you a-whoa!” He stared up at Diogee, mouth open in shock. He turned around, cupping his hands to his mouth. “LANCE! GET OUT HERE! THERE’S A COOL POKÉMON IN THE DINING ROOM!”
Diogee growled slightly as Lee tried to touch his fur with still-wet hands.
“Lee, go dry your hands and don’t let me catch you touching someone else’s Pokémon without permission again,” Eileen warned.
“But, Mom-“
“Argue and you won’t have cherry pie for dessert.”
Lee scampered off immediately.
“Mom, can you look over our Pokémon after dinner? We want them checked before we start training,” Zack asked, scooping up a handful of silverware from a drawer and setting them next to every plate. “Oh, and they need a place to stay the night.”
“It’s no issue,” Eileen said. She stirred a large pot of soup on the stove. “Dinner’s almost ready. Melissa, why don’t you take the spare room? There might be a few boxes you’ll have to move aside, but it’s cozy enough. And Milo, we don’t have another bed, but there’s an air mattress we can set up in Zack’s room.”
Milo showed her a deflated air mattress from his backpack. “It’s okay. I have five air mattresses in my backpack! As my dad always says, it’s always good to have one on hand for sleep emergencies and random Ducklett attacks!”
Eileen’s nose scrunched up in thought as she tried to figure out how an average sized backpack fit five air mattresses. “But Ducklett aren’t native to Hoenn.”
Melissa shook her head. “With Murphy’s Law, any species of Pokémon can appear anywhere at any time. Doesn’t matter if they’re native to the area or not.”
The flames on the stove suddenly flared up, almost engulfing the bottom of the pot. Eileen hurriedly turned a dial, and the flames sputtered out with a click.
“Oh, and random fires may crop up too. I’ll just leave this fire extinguisher here. Comes in pretty handy,” Milo said, placing a fire extinguisher in the corner.
After a few minutes, Eileen recovered. “Alright. You seem used to handling these…situations. Just go put down your things and I’ll have everything plated when you come back.”
The twins spent their dinner watching the Pokémon eat. Eileen had to remind them several times to take a bite of their own food.
“-and that’s why Sara swore off secretly watching weight-lifting competitions between wild Machop!” Milo finished. “So, what’s Littleroot like?”
“Not gonna lie. It’s boring. But just ignore my personal bias. I’ll always prefer the city myself. Did Zack tell you we lived in Olivine before?” Eileen said. “It’s sort of the Johto equivalent to your Slateport. Zack’s grandfather runs a Miltank farm just outside there.”
“My big brother fell into the Magikarp pond,” Lee giggled.
Zack almost choked on his soup. “Don’t tell them that!” he squeaked.
“It’s not exactly news to us,” Melissa said. “Besides, you’re not the only one with irrational fears. Take Milo for instance. He’s afraid of Ranseinese fingertraps.”
Zack raised an eyebrow. “Ranseinese fingertraps?”
“They’re a fiendish, diabolical trap that limits one’s dexterity while slowly suffocating the poor little capillaries,” Milo said. He was adamant that they were the worst traps known to mankind.
Melissa rolled her eyes. “Milo, you’re supposed to push your fingers in, It loosens the binding.”
“That’s what they want you to think.”
“Um, Milo?” Lance piped up. He shifted in his seat when everyone turned to him. “I just wanna know…what’s the stuff in Diogee’s food?”
Diogee growled protectively, nudging his food bowl away from prying eyes.
“Don’t worry, he wasn’t trying to steal your food,” Milo said soothingly. “Anyway, the red splotches in his pellets are Razz Berries. In addition to flavor, their hard shells also prevent an Absol’s fangs from growing too sharp. You don’t want them cutting their gums.”
Lance jumped out from his seat. “Sorrymomberightback!” he called over his shoulder as he rushed off.
Eileen placed a slice of cherry pie on Lance’s plate. “He wants to be a Pokémon Researcher like Marcus. Always writing down Pokémon facts and care tips in his notebook.”
Noticing that Mudkip and Torchic were trying to climb up the empty seat to get to the pie, Milo gently pulled them off. They protested as he deposited them next to their food bowls.
“No,” Milo said sternly. “That pie is for Lance.”
Torchic’s feathers puffed out, and Mudkip chewed on his wrist.
“They’re a handful,” Eileen remarked. “You might as well relax tonight because you’ve got some serious training to do on the road.”
Since Eileen said she worked better when people weren’t watching over her shoulder, nobody would be allowed in the house’s clinic while she conducted the Pokémon’s checkups.
Milo and Melissa took the opportunity to freshen up before joining Zack and the twins in the living room.
“What’s it like living around a bunch of Absol? What do they like to eat? What kind of disasters do they sense?” Lance fired all the Absol-related questions he could think of at Milo.
Milo answered him the best he could, pausing every once in while to make sure Lance had enough time to write his responses in his notebook.
Melissa, Zack, and Lee passed the time with a game of Poképoly. The Underwood siblings only had a few bills each, while Melissa had no shortage of money. Zack rolled the dice, then moved his Bellsprout piece to a space that had a plastic replica of the Indigo Plateau.
“I own Mt. Silver. That’ll be 2500 please,” Melissa smirked, holding out her hand expectantly.
“Extortionist,” Zack muttered, grudgingly forking over his remaining money. Because he didn’t have enough, Melissa took the remaining amount from the bank.
“First lesson of Poképoly, Lee. Show no mercy, not even to family. Crush ‘em. Make ‘em weep,” Melissa said. “Oh, and you wanna aim for the spaces around the jail area. More bang for your buck.”
Lee nodded vigorously, while Zack was less than pleased about Melissa teaching about the ways of ruthless corporatism.
“Zack, could I use your desktop to call my family?” Milo asked. “I promised them I’d call after we visited the lab.”
“I wanna meet your family!” Lance exclaimed.
“Me too!” Lee agreed.
“Okay, but try not to blow anything up,” Zack warned as he logged into the computer.
Milo shrugged, knowing that he couldn’t promise anything since Murphy’s Law would always find a way to surprise them. “I’ll try, but no promises.”
“Melissa, were you gonna call home too?” Zack asked.
Melissa shrugged, folding her arms defensively. “I already texted Dad. Besides, he’s probably got something at the fire department right now.”
After the fiasco in the helicopter, Milo couldn’t blame Melissa for wanting her space. But she and her dad would have to face each other in Lavaridge. Maybe the journey would give her time to think things over.
While Milo entered his username into the video chat service his family used, Eileen and the Pokémon came into the living room. Mudkip pawed at Milo until he was settled in his lap. Diogee laid by his feet, watching Mudkip from the corner of his eye. Meanwhile, Torchic and Treecko climbed all over Melissa and Zack.
“Your Pokémon are all healthy. After a hectic day, all they need is rest,” Eileen reported. “My only concern is Mudkip’s tendency to put things in his mouth. While it’s natural for young Pokémon to explore the world through taste and texture, your Mudkip is old enough to be a starter and should’ve outgrown that habit by now.”
Milo glanced down at Mudkip, who nibbled at a pocket on his shorts innocently. “I’ve noticed,” he admitted. “Can I train this out of him?”
“I suggest teaching him what he can or can’t put in his mouth. Yes for designated toys or food. No to body parts. You can probably find some toys at the Poké Mart in Oldale Town.”
“Okay, we’ll get some toys!” Milo agreed. “Thanks for the tip!”
“It’s my job,” Eileen said.
Sara answered the video call within seconds. “MOM! DAD! MILO’S CALLING!” she bellowed.
“Are things boring without us?” Milo teased.
Sara kicked back in her chair, sighing dramatically. “Boring’s an understatement. Now I don’t have anyone to gush about Dr. Magnezone with.”
“Don’t you have your friends in Mauville?” Melissa asked.
“Not the same! I’d be a laughingstock if I told them I shipped Dr. Magnezone with Clefablebelle!”
“You like Dr. Magnezone?” Lee gasped. “He’s the coolest person ever! I liked the episode where he tricked the evil Trubbishdroids into destroying their own fortress!”
“Sweet! Young fan! Always good to see the young people enjoying Dr. Zone!” Sara exclaimed. “So how do you know my brother?”
Lee pointed to Zack. “My brother brought him and Melissa home! We’re having one big sleepover tonight!”
Lance jumped in, obscuring Milo’s view of the screen. “Do you live on an Absol farm too? Are they just as cool as Diogee?”
Milo let the twins dominate the conversation, content to hang back for a while as he tried to gently dissuade Mudkip from chewing on his pockets. There were already several tiny holes in them, and he wanted his shorts to last.
After ten minutes, Brigitte and Martin joined in. “Sorry. Martin’s tie got stuck in the sink. I told you not to lean over the disposal, honey.”
“I got my guitar pick back though. Besides, I still have six more ties for the week,” Martin said. His tie hung in ribbons around his neck. “I see you’ve already made some friends.”
“We helped Zack rescue his dad from a pirate guy’s plot to release Magikarp into the local ecosystem,” Milo said. “You should’ve seen us! Zack’s friends with a Gyarados and Melissa’s really good at commanding two Pokémon at once!”
“Now this I gotta hear,” Sara said.
Zack tilted the camera to give them a better view of the Treecko on his head. “They forced me to run away from a giant boulder within five minutes of meeting me.”
“In our defense, we didn’t have time to explain certain details,” Melissa added.
Martin glanced outside, then held up a hand to stop Milo from retelling the story. “Sorry, can you hold on for a few minutes? I need to shoo some wild Geodude away from the outdoor furniture.”
Milo agreed, and the conversation shifted to Sara gushing over how adorable their Pokémon were. Torchic jumped onto the desk, peering into the camera curiously. Melissa pried Torchic off, accidentally knocking the computer mouse to the floor.
Before Zack could put the mouse back, a Linoone snatched it out of his hands.
“Hey!” Lee protested.
“Don’t let him out!” Melissa shouted. “Torchic, use Peck!”
Torchic darted towards Linoone, who jumped over her with the mouse clutched in his teeth. She rapidly pecked at the couch while Linoone continued his getaway.
You’ve never seen him before, this is just his debut!
He’s Recurring Linoone!
“I didn’t know you had ghosts,” Milo said. The Underwood house didn’t seem like the kind to hold any supernatural creatures.
Eileen hit the fleeing Linoone over the head with a broom, forcing him to drop the mouse. Then she opened the front door, sweeping Linoone outside before locking him out of the house. Melissa plugged the mouse into the computer, shaking it to make sure it worked.
“We don’t have ghosts. I have no idea where those annoying commercial jingle guys came from,” Zack said.
Wait, is this Pokéstar Studios? We’re supposed to be disembodied voice actors for a movie.
“Completely wrong region, man!” Melissa shouted in exasperation. “That’s in Unova!”
“How do you mistake a house in Littleroot for a studio?” Zack asked.
That’s the last time we let Disembodied Reggae Space Voice give us directions. Dude still can’t let go of how we forgot the marshmallows on our last camping trip. Sorry for the intrusion. Thanks for your help!
“We must never speak of this incident again,” Melissa swore.
Milo turned back to the computer screen. Brigitte and Sara took the interruption in stride.
Then Martin returned, plucking a mustard-covered branch out of his hair. “So, you mentioned stopping a guy who talked like a pirate?”
AN: I used imaginashon’s art and notes of Lee and Lance as a base for their personalities. They’re both really adorable and I really wish they’d appear in MML because I’m sure they’d be a riot.
As much as I love fanfiction, a downside of this medium is how cartoon gags don’t translate well to text. Sometimes I feel like Murphy’s Law doesn’t happen as often as it should because I can’t just have random things explode because Milo happens to be there. So I try to include it in the situations the characters get into instead.
Ransei is the region in Pokemon Conquest. I know it’s based off feudal Japan but there isn’t a direct equivalent of China.
Melissa has a 133-0 winning streak in Poképoly. She’s keeping it that way.

I'm sorry to bother but would you mind explaining why the Plance angst in the Sven's universe? Also, I actually have a Voltron long distance squad AU written in one of my notebooks!!!! I feel so happy someone else have a similar idea because I thought no one would find it as interesting as I do omg!!! (You should totes write a fic). Also I have two dear AUs I created and I just want to share them: Plance Pokémon AU and OTGW AU. Please have a beautiful, beautiful day!!!!’u`
Ah! Thank you for dropping this in!
I’m glad I’m not the only one with a Long Distance AU idea too! Honestly, the idea seems bland at first thought but when you actually look into the chaos of having friends all over the place, it can be hella fun!
Also, if you ever want to message me off anon with those two AU ideas of your own, I’d love to learn more about them! :D
So, the Plangst is a bit of a background plot in Sven’s Verse but has enough plot to it that it could totally run as its own story. So, here’s how that goes:
Sven’s Verse AU (Plangst Story)
Pidge
A member of the Guns of Gamora but not a soldier in it (at first)
Basically in charge of creating weapons and ships for the soldiers
When Slav isn’t out on duty, he works alongside her
(I know in GoLion Pidge is a guy named Hiroshi but I don’t feel like working with that. Hiroshi really bugs me)
Even though she isn’t a soldier, she does train in combat and has learned to use her small stature to take down big guys like Sven
She is known to be snappy and have a tad bit of a temper when bothered but it’s clear she’s on the rebel’s side through and through
It’s after she meets Lance that her connection to the rebels grows stronger.
Lance
Lance is also a member of the Guns of Gamora but is a soldier
Known for being one of the most deadly snipers
He’s a bit full of himself because of this and will gladly brag about his kill streak
He’s also known to be a tad bit of a jerk and rather entitled
He thinks for being a rebel hero he deserves a lot more than he has right now (think Voltron Lance’s desire for glory cracked up to 11 with an expectation that it’ll happen)
(He’s pretty much Isamu from GoLion and goes by said name (but Imma keep calling him Lance to keep things simple). Unlike Pidge’s other version, I like Lance’s so I’ll work with it)
He has a tendency to wander around any base he’s stationed at so you’ll either find him right away or it’ll take you a million years to find him unless you com him
Things go crazy after he meets Pidge.
[More Under the Cut]
Their Meeting
They first meet when Pidge is training in one of the many training rooms
Lance didn’t recognize her as a soldier so when he asked her if she was one and confirmed that she wasn’t, he asked what the hell she was doing there
“What? You think that I can’t fight just because I’m not a soldier?”
“I didn’t say that! I just said that maybe you shouldn’t use the training rooms that us soldiers use.”
“How the hell am I supposed to train then?”
“You’re not supposed to!”
“So if we get attacked right now I’m not supposed to know how to defend myself?!”
“Like you could defend yourself anyway! You’re so tiny!”
She made Lance eat his words
Remember how I said Pidge could take down guys as big as Sven?
Well, Lance isn’t as big as him so knocking the wind out of him was easy as easy could be
Let’s just say that was a wake-up call for Lance
Pidge leaves him soon after since she was wrapping up her training anyways
Now Lance wants to know who she is and how he can meet her again
The Relationship Grows
Not long after their first meeting, Pidge finds herself running into Lance way more than she likes
Turns out, Lance got the information about who she was and what she does from one of his superior officers
She’s the first girl who wouldn’t deal with his shit so he’s definitely intrigued by her
Things are still rather snappy between them as Pidge accuses him of stalking her, which isn’t exactly a lie but there’s no way he’ll admit it
Eventually, she gets used to him stopping by her lab in his free time and just deals with his presence
He actually kinda becomes good company after she knocks him down a few pegs
He thought that the soldiers, the ones going out to fight against the Alteans were the only heroes in this battle but after seeing all the things Pidge makes for the rebellion, he can see everyone there is a hero of some kind
Turns out when he’s not being a smug jerk he can actually be a really nice guy
I’m talking being that guy who puts a blanket over Pidge’s shoulders after she passes out from working so hard
He’s also pretty sure he’s fallen for her because she’s one hell of a ride for him
She makes him question a lot of things he didn’t before
The nickname “Shorty” he gave her to mock her also becomes a bit more endearing
Of course, Pidge’s feelings are growing for the more sensitive and caring Lance as they learn more about each other
It was after a particularly bad brush with the Alteans that left Lance in the medbay that ended bringing the two together romantically
Even though they are a couple now, they’re routine doesn’t change much
There might be a few kisses and hugs and sweet words tossed into it now though
The two are rather happy for a good amount of time... then shit hits the fan
The Incident
It was supposed to be a simple mission
A strike against a small Altean base, nothing big at all
But when the team returned extremely battered and down a member, everyone knew the strike was a mistake
Most of all Pidge as it was Lance who was missing
According to the members of the mission, Lance cleared their exit but when they were able to try to get him, the Alteans captured him and took him who knows where
Pidge was quick to lash out and had to be held back Slav
She demanded that they send out a team to go rescue him but she knew they wouldn’t
It would be too risky
Pidge refused to work for a good while after Lance’s disappearance
Sadly, his return didn’t make anything better
Altean Slave Lance
During a small scouting mission consisting of Sven, Akira (Keith), and Slav, Lance is found
Much to their disappointment but not to their surprise, Lance has a hoktril attached to his head
He has no free will and is basically a slave with no hope of rescue
...That is until Slav ignores Sven’s orders to leave him alone and captures the slave
Slav explains that he thinks this is one of the few realities where bringing back Lance will benefit the Guns as they’ll learn more about Altean technology
So, the team brings him back
When Pidge sees him, she’s overjoyed at first and hugs him
When he doesn’t hug back, she knows something is wrong
Sven, Slav, and Akira are scolded for bringing back an Altean Slave while Pidge questions if she’ll ever really be getting Lance back
She overhears Slav’s reasoning for bringing him back and decides to do two things
She’s going to not only learn how the hoktril works but she’s also going to learn how to free someone from it
But in order to do that, she’s going to have to see Altean tech first hand
She needs to become an active soldier
Soldier Pidge
Despite Slav’s protests, Pidge starts heading out on missions
Her first missions are rather rocky but they only fuel her desire to take down the Alteans for what they’ve done
Lance remains confined to Pidge’s Lab and every time she returns from a mission, she’s back to trying to figure out how to free him
It really starts to eat away at her until she becomes a cold, determined shell of who she used to be
It pains the others to see her like this but they know there’s nothing they can do
So, that’s the mission she’ll always be on until she learns how to free Lance
There is no happy ending to this yet, just an ongoing struggle
So, that’s basically what’s going on with the Plance angst in Sven’s Verse! Thanks for asking!

em-exceeds-change-zearu replied to your post: Man, honestly, say what you will about the Kalos...
okay the thought of manon travelling with ash and co never occurred to me but that sounds so precious? ash is so good when he has someone to mentor and manon was over the moon about the story about him on top of the prism tower with gabby so it’d work? maybe giving serena an earlier start to figuring out what she wanted to do by helping out and bonding with manon too? also let bonnie actually bond with ash and manon for a energetic student mentor triad of terror? god…
Ooh, so I think I worded things a bit badly, but---I didn’t mean have her as a part of Ash’s squad, per se, but more that she would be a regularly reoccurring character that he meets, interacts with, and mentors whenever they meet up!
Specifically, in my re-imagining, Manon travels with Shouta (and together they are #GreenTeam), who as we know is already Ash’s primary Kalosean rival. Both Manon and Shouta are the same age (ten), and they’re both beginning trainers; particularly in a situation where we let Ash, Serena, and Clemont all be the thirteen / fourteen-year-olds they behave like, it’d make a lot of sense for Ash to be a pseudo-rival for Shouta and Manon, both of whom are younger than him and just starting out. (Serena is also just starting out, but there’s nothing saying someone can’t become a trainer a bit later in life. I imagine that Alan didn’t leave on his journey until he was twelve, for instance.) But even we don’t age Ash, Serena, and Clemont up, having Shouta and Manon be the two newbie trainers that Ash regularly meets, interacts, and battles with / mentors could still be a very fun dynamic, particularly when you imagine how this partnership between Shouta and Manon might have been fostered in the first place.
I mean, if you think about it, it could happen very easily. Shouta does still have a bit of experience on Manon when they first meet (or rather, when they would first meet) considering that he picked up his starter pokémon prior to traveling to Kalos, but even then, his treecko is still . . . well, a treecko when we meet him, so he clearly isn’t that experienced. Nonetheless, he’s smart, studious, and sharp; he seems to know what he’s doing, and I think that would certainly appeal to Manon, who is a newbie in every sense of the word and would no doubt be very impressed by whatever knowledge and experience Shouta does have. When you consider that Shouta has already met Steven Stone once and hopes to meet him again, that gives Manon even more incentive to want to travel with him, because there’s a good chance he’ll meet Steven (and maybe even learn about mega evolution!), and if she’s with him, then she’ll get to meet him as well. In a sharp deviation from TSME 1, Shouta would actually have no problems with traveling with her. Whereas Alan did not want to be her travel companion and eventually just gave in after he saw that his “no” and “don’t follow me” rebuffs weren’t going to be respected no matter what he did, nothing we’ve seen from Shouta suggests that he’d have a problem having a traveling companion. If anything, he’d probably welcome the company, particularly since he and Manon are roughly on the same level and both have a penchant for grass-types (Hari-san obviously, but I also like to think Manon would get a bulbasaur that she could mega evolve). I think he’d be open to traveling with her, which means that from the start Manon would have a traveling companion who not only wouldn’t try to ditch her at every opportunity, but would also be excited to traveling with her, making for a much more fun adventure.
On top of all this, since they’re both starting out, Shouta wouldn’t be Manon’s crutch, either. Again, he has a bit of experience on her, but Manon would still need to battle and learn on her own, rather than having to duck behind the nearest rock to be protected from whatever battle is about to unfold right in front of her. Since Shouta isn’t being used as a Flare agent, he wouldn’t get into as many life-threatening situations anyway, which means that the battles Manon would face would be much, much more on her skill level, thus allowing her to build confidence in herself as she grows as a trainer. So not only would Manon not be railroading someone else’s boundaries, but she also wouldn’t be leaning wholesale on someone else and depending on them to protect her. Instead, she’d learn how to protect herself and would have the opportunity to build up her own team. Furthermore, whenever Shouta and Steven meet again (which is sometime after the Snowbelle arc, but prior to the League), Steven gives Shouta a Key Stone and Sceptilite. There’s nothing at all saying that Manon couldn’t get her Key Stone and Venusaurite at the same time. Thus, she obtains mega evolution in canon, at the same time that Shouta does.
Since she’s traveling with Shouta, this gives her plenty of opportunities to meet and interact with Ash & the squad, because after all, Shouta himself does. Both Shouta and Manon could go after the Gym badges (and thus they could both enter the League), and both of them could battle against Ash at different points. This is what I mean when I say that Ash could mentor Manon; I think that he would see a lot of himself in her, back when he was first starting out (very energetic, determined to be the very best, but also rather clueless with little idea of what she’s doing, even though her heart is in the right place generally), and I think that would endear her to him and would make him want to give her advice / guidance whenever they meet up. Manon, as you said, already knows of him thanks to the story of what happened on Prism Tower, and so I think she’d be super eager to get whatever advice she could from him, to learn from his accomplishments, and also perhaps one day beat him in battle herself. She’s still not traveling with him (gotta rep that #GreenTeam), but she’s very excitedly running up to his group whenever they happen to cross paths. She could still bond with Serena and Bonnie much earlier on, as well, especially if Ash, Serena, and Clemont were all aged up by three years, meaning that Manon would be in-between Serena and Bonnie, age-wise. But even if she’s not, again, she could still bond with them as we saw a little bit of during the League arc, and perhaps could even battle Serena sometimes as well, to see if she can beat a pokémon that has a type advantage of hers.
And in this way, she still could meet Alan! Alan first meets Ash after he sees him battling Shouta. While Shouta leaves before Alan interacts with the group (and thus Manon goes with him), there’s nothing saying that they couldn’t stick around for a bit longer in this version of events. If nothing else, if Manon is collecting badges and going on a proper journey here, who’s to say that she doesn’t enter the League? Picture a League scenario where, instead of battling Trevor in the first round, Alan battles Manon instead. She sends her Mega Venusaur against Mega Lizardon X. She loses, but it’s a good battle, and so they shake hands at the end of it and Alan tells her that she did a great job. She’s still disappointed, but Ash consoles her afterward and tells her about his Kanto League loss and how quickly he was booted, and that makes her feel better as she resolves to try harder next time (and maybe beat Alan in a rematch someday, too). That said, of course she doesn’t leave Lumiose after that, and so this time, she’s able to join the other rival kids (Shouta naturally, but also Trevor, Tierno, and Shauna) as they help with the Lumiose City evacuation during the Flare crisis, using Hari-san and her Mega Venusaur (Fushi-kun, in my headcanon) to actually be active and help. (Though staying true to her character, she’s doing this because she wants to protect Shouta and keep him safe as a first priority, and he’s not leaving without helping, but still.)
The only sticking point we’d have to work around is how Squishy gets freed if Hari-san is not at Fleur-De-Lis Laboratories to free him, but honestly, that can be worked around. For instance, we know that Steven calls up Professor Sycamore to tell him about what Lysandre has been having Alan do (he straight up tattled on Lysandre, it’s great), and we know that Sycamore went to Fleur-De-Lis Laboratories as a direct result of that. In that case, perhaps something happens which results in Gabrielle getting separated from Sycamore somehow (maybe some equipment malfunctions and there’s an explosion, maybe she wanders off while Sycamore is distracted talking to Lysandre, either-or), and because both garchomp and Zygarde are ground/dragon-types, she’s drawn to him. Gabrielle frees Squishy, but is zapped by his energy (whatever it is) and falls comatose, and therefore we still get a similar set-up where Squishy is freed and Alan is determined to rescue a comatose pokémon. Only this time, rather than being motivated by guilt because he has managed to view the situation in such a way that makes it his fault (even though it wasn’t his fault, even in canon, but nonetheless that’s how he saw it), he’s instead motivated by shock and grief because he has loved that garchomp since she was a little bitty gible he brought home to the lab, and Professor Sycamore is his unofficially adoptive father, and he signed up into Lysandre’s service to protect Sycamore in the first place, and damn it he is not going to let them down, you’ll see. So even then, even though the story has to be modified because Hari-san and Manon wouldn’t be there in TSME 4, ultimately it’s a very easy thing to work around, which ends up working out better for all involved characters. (Especially Manon, since in this version of events she gets to have many more appearances in the main story, actually gets to train a team of pokémon, gets to participate in the League, and is never sidelined.)
So yeah, if I were rewriting the story to make improvements on it, that’s one of the primary improvements I’d make. I think that it would be better for every single involved character, and would make the story much more enjoyable overall.

Yes, You can Make Money Playing Video Games. Here Are 7 Ways to Do It
Frederick Aldeco was the youngest of three boys who loved to game.
Growing up, he and his brothers first fought over who could play the Nintendo, then the Super Nintendo, then the PlayStation — he could only play when his older brothers let him.
But then he got his own Game Boy. It came with Pokémon Yellow, and everything changed.
“I could play anytime I wanted to without them having an issue,” Aldeco said.
Nearly two decades later, Aldeco, 29, still loves Pokémon — so much so that he runs a Pokémon news channel on YouTube under the moniker DaddyGamer Fred.
Besides that, he’s done what most gamers dream of doing: Making money playing video games. While it’s not his full-time gig, Aldeco said his content has earned him up to $300 a week.
Over the years, gaming has become increasingly popular with almost all age groups. The Entertainment Software Association has tracked gamers with an annual survey since 1997, and its latest data show that 64% of households own regularly played gaming systems. Perhaps what’s more surprising is that association research shows the typical gamer may not be who you think. In the U.S., more women play video games than teenage boys.
And if you belong to this new wave of gamers, you’ve probably thought at some point, “There’s got to be a way to get paid for this.”
Turns out, there are plenty.
How to Make Money Playing Video Games
These recommendations require actually playing a video game to earn you cash. You may need some in-depth knowledge or skills for most of the following methods — but not all of them. So don’t worry if your gaming abilities aren’t esports-ready just yet.
1. Participate in Video Game Tournaments
The League of Legends World Championship is an esports tournament that can earn elite winners millions of dollars and millions of fans, but most gamers are not at that level and never will be.
Instead, opt for amateur tournaments to earn $5 or $10 per match. GamerSaloon is one video-gaming site where you can do just that. Anyone 18 years or older can create a free account and start joining tournaments. The more you win, the more you earn.
The website is open to gamers around the world, but the system is based on the U.S. dollar. All other currencies are accepted but will be converted automatically.
Popular games on the site include NBA 2k19, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, UFC 3, FIFA 19 and others.
2. Become a Beta Tester
Millions of people now pay for video games before they are released by pre-ordering them.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if video game companies would pay you instead to play their video games before the release date?
Actually, that’s a thing.
Several companies pay people to beta test video games to collect feedback and work out the kinks before the mass market gets its hands on it.
For the lucky gamers who live near Redmond, Washington, Nintendo partners with two staffing agencies to beta test games on-site. Unfortunately, there are no remote testing options available.
For those living outside the area, there’s VMC Consulting, a tech company that specializes in quality assurance and support. It runs a Global Beta Test Network, which tests major multiplayer video games for consoles and PCs before their release. Applicants can live anywhere, must be at least 18 years old and must use Discord (a chat messaging system for gamers) to give feedback.
3. Start Streaming
No, not on Netflix. In the video-game world, streaming has a different meaning. It refers to a live feed of someone playing a video game. Streaming services allow the streamer to interact directly with the audience via a chatroom system. Viewers can also tip the streamer in real time.
There are several free streaming services to choose from, the most popular being Twitch.tv. You don’t have to be a pro to stream, either. You just have to be entertaining. One streamer, Cory Michael — aka King Gothalion — turned his streaming hobby into a six-figure salary.
Michael said the main three sources of income come from subscriptions, tips directly from your viewers and ad revenue.
Even if you don’t manage millions of subscribers, streaming could still get you tips here and there, and once your channel becomes more popular, you could land a paid partnership with the streaming service.
4. Create a Business on Second Life
Fifteen years later, Second Life is still kicking with about 750,000 monthly users.
Second Life is a video game that was slated to revolutionize the internet (before social media came along). But it’s hard to call Second Life a video game. It’s more than that.
There aren’t any overt objectives. No bosses to beat. No princesses to rescue. Instead, all of its content is user-generated, from the avatars themselves to the worlds they inhabit. In Second Life, people date, have children, build houses and travel to replicas of famous landmarks.
People spend years carving out a piece of digital paradise. Some hire real-life experts to help get it just right. In-game specialists can make bank, too. Architects, publishers and fashion designers have used their industry knowledge to bolster their virtual businesses. There’s even a journalist, Wagner James Au, who works inside Second Life and reports on in-game artists and entrepreneurs.
Second Life spawned the first video game business millionaire, Ailin Graef, and she’s not the only person to make a fortune with the game.
“There are multiple people and businesses that have made over a million U.S. dollars in Second Life over the years,” said Brett Atwood, Director of Marketing at Linden Labs, the company that created Second Life. “Many are still active.”
Since Second Life’s launch in 2003, players have spent billions of dollars of real money on in-game currency called Linden Dollars (or L$). The exchange rate currently is about 250 L$ to $1. Users can go to the Second Life exchange store to purchase L$, then use L$ for in-game services. The level of customization is incredibly granular, and users are eager to pay L$ for real-life experts to apply their knowledge to the virtual world.
Atwood said the big bucks are usually in virtual real estate and fashion.
For other business ideas and examples of Second Life entrepreneurs, check out its business site.
5. Coach Others in How to Play
Are you a Starcraft god? A Fortnite legend? Share your strategies with us noobs for cash.
You can teach beginners basic lingo or coach seasoned players on the latest competitive strategies. Some online tutoring websites, Superprof for example, are general tutoring platforms that happen to allow video-game listings.
However, there are some other options that are tailored specifically for gaming lessons. Gamer Sensei is one such platform that hires senseis, aka coaches, to teach lessons in specific games, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike, DOTA 2 and — of course — Fortnite.
Making a sensei profile is free. Senseis set their own schedules and prices and have no hourly time commitments.
Another option is Gameflip Gigs. Gameflip is a video game marketplace, where people can buy, sell and trade video games and related content.
The company recently launched Gigs, which is still in beta but is open for applications.
The gigs revolve around four types of services:
Create: Good at graphic design? You can craft the perfect avatar or graphic for a gamer’s profile or online store.
Entertain: If you’re hilarious, get paid for it by joining people’s in-game parties and having fun.
Coach: Teach others the way to victory.
Carry: Some people just like winning. You provide that service.
During the beta, Gigs members have a $1,000 limit on what they can earn.
Other Ways to Make Money With Video Games
Maybe you aren’t comfortable with turning your hobby into a job. You want to keep it sacred and fun. That’s all right, too. You can still make plenty of money with gigs related to video gaming that don’t require you to play them.
6. Sell Video Games for Cash
Do you blast through video games? Are you constantly in search of new ones to conquer? Then you should consider selling your used video games once you’re finished.
Your pile of old games can fund your next virtual adventure, get you some quick cash to make rent, or if you’re like Aldeco, help fund your move from the U.S. to Switzerland.
The Penny Hoarder’s guide walks you through the best technique to sell video games through GameStop and get up to 50% extra cash for your games. I turned a $72.40 cash offer for a few of my video games and a controller into $111.14.
If you’d rather not make the trek to GameStop, Gameflip allows users to buy and sell their video games and gift cards online.
That’s what Aldeco used to downsize before his move overseas. He sold off all his physical games and consoles but kept the handheld devices — his trusty Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.
Alternatively, you can sell games on eBay, but you may be stuck with a bunch of additional fees if you don’t meet the site’s minimum seller service standards.
7. Make Video Game Guides
Perhaps you’ve played a game for so long that you’ve discovered all the Easter eggs, all the glitches and all the best farming spots.
You can create guides to help people do the same, whether they’re articles or YouTube videos.
Stephen Robinson, better known by the moniker Ratty Star, creates YouTube guides for a post-apocalyptic role playing game, Fallout 76.
“I have had some success,” Robinson said, “with a few videos getting a few thousand views, with my highest currently at 63,000.”
Several major gaming publications accept freelance pitches for video game guides and commentary, too. So if you prefer writing to video editing, give IGN, Kotaku, Escapist Magazine, Game Informer and GamesRadar+ a shot.
If you’re not a seasoned freelancer, we have a guide that walks you through how to come up with story ideas, pitch to editors and ultimately make money as a freelance writer. In the meantime, you can build up your portfolio by writing for GameSkinny, which will pay you based on how many views your articles get.
Neither Robinson nor Aldeco is famous. They have about 2,500 followers between the two of them. Getting famous really isn’t the point.
“I’m doing it because I’m enjoying the creative process,” Aldeco said. “Whenever the money comes, of course it’s a plus, but [it’s] not truly the end goal for me.”
Adam Hardy is a staff writer on the Make Money team at The Penny Hoarder. He has played video games since he was 6 years old. Read his full bio here, or say hi on Twitter @hardyjournalism.

#i think about his demo team a lot i'd like to think he borrowed them from someone.#but also the idea of him having like. pokémons he rescued at the lab and then just let do whatever they wanted once they were strong enough#including leaving or staying in the lab gardens to just hang out and some of them being like. really fucking powerful#through no effort on his part just bc they were treated well and were into battling to begin with#and just being able to go 'hey i need a pokémon team for sth rn who wants in' is hilarious. ngl.
he's so cute and also i'm laughing really hard at the idea of him just being like WHO WANTS TO WRECK SHIT (HAVING TOO MUCH FUN)

Can I just- I love your wanted au, it's awesome. Amazing. Outstanding. Dot has stolen my heart with violence. I just keep having this thought of if they pick up Dot before N, and N is doing work to rescue Pokémon from bad situations, then when they have their epic showdown of 'yes Akari can take a champion' Dot probably plays a key part in that. Maybe there's a soft scene where N makes sure that Dot is happy and safe, or maybe as N's leaving he makes an offer and Dot choses to stay with Akari.
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your kind words so much and I am so glad that you are enjoying my au!
Aww! Yes! I would definitely place acquiring Dot before the run in with N. Though I do plan to have the N interaction be more Zoroark focused.
Ingo and Akari have not yet offered Dot a pokeball as they both are unsure of if Dot would accept it. So Dot spends allot of time bouncing after them, ridding on another bigger Pokémon, or hanging out on their shoulders.
Oh, and one of the things that Akari and Ingo do as they are out in the wilds, is that they let out a manageable group of the Hisui pokemon that they’ve captured and try to help them familiarize themselves with humans and modern nature/ Pokémon. They even have a number of Zorua and Zoroark in that group they had out when N made his dramatic entrance on the back of Reshiram.
When he introduces himself he tells them how he was tired of hearing everything about them second hand, that he wanted to see them and their stolen pokemon with his own eyes. He had also heard how they had stolen them both from a lab and from trainers. So he’d curious to hear their side of the story. When Ingo starts to expslsin, N cuts him off. Clarifying that he meant the Pokémons side of the story.
But first, a battle.
Ingo and Akari would have agreed to keep the pokemon out so that they can watch the battle and see what modern trainers are like. The Zorua and Zoroark, all currently disguised as other Pokémon, are all paying close attention when N’s Zoroark makes an appearance.
The whole battle with N would be very dramatic (it’s N, how can it not be) and afterward N is interested in what these pokemon have to say for themselves. Sneasler is fascinated that this human that can effortlessly understand her and ask if he could convince the other humans to stop chasing them. Unfortunately N does not have that power over cops at all, but promises to help how he can.
N is happy to learn that the Hisui pokemon are not being held against their will or used for the trainers selfish purposes. No mention of time travel is made as the pokemon do not know or trust this odd human. When N asks about where they came from, one of the disguised Zoroarks answers that ‘it was some place cold and cruel. The only reason they are all here is because they trust Akari and Ingo to give them a better life then what they had.’
Now I love the idea that the only Pokémon that can recognize a disguised Zorua/Zoroark is another of its kind. So N’s Zoroark knows what the Pokémon talking to them actually is, and asks her why the Zoroark are ghost type now.
She pauses, before dropping the Arcanine form to answer, revealing herself to be an alpha Zoroark. N is surprised but amazed to see this new hauntingly beautiful variant up close in person, and at such a massive size. She tells him how they had once been like him, but it was through the hate and judgement of humans that they became how they are now. The trauma runs so deep in them that even their young have been born in this way.
N is horrified to learn this and demands Akari and Ingo tell him that they rescued every Zorua and Zoroak from ‘that place’. Not knowing what contexts he means, Akari honestly tells him that they brought back everyone that they could find. (The Zoroark who were not interested would never have shown themselves to Akari to have been caught)
Satisfied, N thanks the Zoroark for sharing their story with him before turning to leave. He’s caught up thinking of possibilities on what he can do to help put an end to the Lab that thinks they can play god and get away with it, that he almost forgets one last important mater.
He looks to the Azurill, currently sitting on Ingo’s shoulders, and asks if she’s happy with these new trainers. Dot nervously tells him that she is, and that she’s never felt happier or had this many friends in her life. Pleased, he informs Ingo and Akari of what she had told him.
He then gives them his contact info, so that they can work together on clearing their name and he can get them connected to folk who are better suited to help them. Right now however, he must return and inform his group on what their Pokémon had told him. After this he leaves, so fired up on this new cause to help the pokemon that he forgot to ask more about Akari and Ingo’s own situations.
Later, both Ingo and Akari try to call him on their arc-devices, but neither of them can call outside of the godly ordained pre-existing phone plan (each other).
In better news! The two offer Dot a pokeball and she is so happy that she bounces right in! The fire cracker pops right in their faces lol
As for how word spreads of N and Akari’s battle… originally I thought of there being spectators who recorded it, but I might just have N announce that Akari had defeated him. Right before he starts absolutely tearing into the lab and the horrors that the pokemon Ingo and Akari rescued had suffered at their hands.
(One way I could see N and Akari’s battle being recorded would be if it had been through the research labs spy drones. in which case The video that would be released would be edited to make Akari look vicious and brutal in her battle style when she’s going all out)

Ooh ooh i got an idea for your submas wanted au! So I don’t know how long it takes Thornton to get arrested after everything (and with how big the tag page is I really don’t feel like scrolling through it all to see lmao) and it probably doesn’t fit with what seems to be happening but a certain scenario keeps popping up in my mind where she’s on the run for a few days/weeks after, hiding from the law, and she’s probably in some small, quiet town (lets say twinleaf, where she might be trying to hide in such a small town and/or use the nearby beach access to have some out-of-regional allies take her out of sinnoh)
So she’s in Twinleaf town or maybe near Lake Verity when she hears a shout. Immediately turning, she sees barry, who seems familiar but she can’t place from where
And Barry starts getting angry and shouting at her, saying that she’s the reason his childhood friend was branded a fugitive for ~two months and was on the run from the law and that he was trying to hurt her and demands she turns herself in. Thornton doesn’t really know who she is and she doesn’t care, just cares that he’s a threat, and tells him to ‘step aside if you know what’s good for you’ and Barry challenges her to battle
She accepts, thinking that he’s hardly older than Akari and he’ll be easy to fight. And it’s not until he releases a full team of six pokémon including a *checks bulbapedia* 7’3” tall Torterra does she remember he’s not only the son of Palmer of the Battle Frontier, a respected trainer in his own right, but a Champion Class trainer who could probably rival some of Sinnoh’s best
Cue Barry absolutely crushing her team with his pokémon (and for lols you could imagine an inferape instead despite game logic meaning he would get turtwig for the lols of a level 70-80+ starter fire-type Pokémon that’s known barry for ~3-4 years absolutely crushing belladonnas all grass-type team in one shot lmao)
Barry is actually present during the big final at the lab! So he defiantly gets to say his piece to her at one point. But he’d not battle her directly because she sees herself as above battling children. She sends others to battle in her place whenever possible.
Listen, I know inferape would have the type advantage against team flora, but Barry MUST have Torterra. Not only because Akari has a Piplup but also, Barry is the kid who’s always on the run, so having a turtle as his starter is hilarious and is half the reason I chose Dawn to have a Piplup.
Also! Barry will have a great moment to shine in the finale. He discovers that Toterra are the next species that team Flora are focusing on and are currently trying to experiment with. So Barry gets a big heroic moment rescuing all the baby Turtwigs and saving them from the lab that just so happened to have been Directly in the path on the escaping KaiJu Venusaur.
And while I can confirm that Belladonna is arrested at the end of the climax, largely thanks to Mint. There is definitely going to be a ‘post-game’ villain of sorts in the form of mad doctor Sarin who worked in Belladonnas lab, and the secondary enforcer she had hired Scaled.
