SPECIFICALLY THE VERSION FROM DUCKTALES (2017)

There were two submissions for this one!

Submission 1: honestly i'm surprised dewey hasn't been submitted yet bc he's like. "classic adhd personality type". he's hyperactive, impulsive, easily distracted, and HATES being bored. the official character bio describes him as "quick to throw himself into dangerous situations without thinking" and in the pilot episode gets distracted mid-conversation ("stop! scrooge was trying to keep me out of trouble, but i was so caught up in- why is there a lamp on the floor?") what REALLY sealed the deal for this headcanon, however, was the rsd he displays, bc this kid desperately wants to be loved by everyone and is absolutely crushed when that doesn't happen. his dream world is a high school musical-type high school where he's the mascot and star (nightmare on killmotor street); he had a panic attack because he tried playing a heel in a wrestling match and the crowd kept booing him (rumble for ragnarok); and in one episode started crying bc he thought he disappointed his mom (raiders of the doomsday vault). (speaking of his mom, there's loosely enough evidence to point to her being adhd too, and you know what they say about it running in families.)

i could go on for AGESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS about dewey and the adhd headcanon. i am going to write a bunch of stuff, but it probably won't turn out very well (i write worse when i'm passionate about something lmao) why i see him as adhd: he has EXTREME rejection sensetivity dysphoria, which to me is most apparent in the money tree and boxing episodes (which i have inconveniently forgotten the names of). he requires attention and love to feel fulfilled, and will go to great lengths to be praised. he hates failure and the idea of being a dissapointment, so he goes to great lengths to prove his worth. he tends to be stupidly stubborn, not backing out of something even if it would put him in serious danger. he's also very impulsive -- jumps into dangerous situations without thinking about the consequence, all that matters is that it's exciting! he's SUPER energetic, and a small detail i noticed is that he doesn't seem to fall asleep easily? he's very chatty, there's an entire episode where he gets involved in a gang of sky pirates because he really, really wanted to talk about a hat he found. a lot of his decisions are irrational or generally just based on strong emotions?? he's definetly more of a thinker than a feeler. ("stop assuming i know things, ok? baseline, assume i know NOTHING!") he exaggerates his emotions or the severity of situations a lot. very easily distracted (or at least pays attention to the wrong thing? like, when they're offered to test out godhood, when they're told they're going to do "god auditions", dewey seems to miss out the "god" part and just does a dance routine (his reaction to realising he messed up is too funny to me, and his dance was actually really good imo) he's constantly breaking into song, uses his name as a pun almost constantly, and has a catchphrase he uses regularly. it's his 'character trait' (i'm not entirely sure how this relates to adhd but like. it makes sense to me) WAY too curious for his own good. generally just really hyperactive? goofs off when it's not really appropriate. i feel like there has been moments where he's been shown stimming before. (ik huey has for sure i'm not totally certain about dewey tho) also he's voiced by BEN SCHWARTZ. that guy seems to want to voice adhd-hi characters that are represented with the colour blue. ICONIC anyways that's all for my silly rambling. dewey and huey are the ultimate adhd autism solidarity duo btw

Amazing how one can so blindly miss one of the main points of the tsats and then write their own version of the book thinking it’s better. Sure, fuck Bianca and not letting Jason rest peacefully, and fuck the whole meaning of the book because you don’t like Will and your dislike for him clouded your judgement. Lol

Lol, mark oshiro wrote 99% of this book (so it’s pretty much a fanfic anyway 😭😂) so me writing an alternate version isn’t hurting anything, especially since so many people liked my take.

And the thing is: i was a Solangelo shipper before this book was out. Like hardcore.

Even if Will had been an oblivious jerk to Nico in BOO and gaslighted him into thinking no one at camp treated him the way he was treated and that ‘everything was in his head’ and that all he needed to do to be happy was ‘get out of his brooding cloud’.

Yes even after that I still thought they would make Will a better character lol. (I’m not being sarcastic either).

So the thing is, I went into this book with a very open mind. I went into this book with hope about Will solaces character development and whatnot.

If you happened to read my tsats book review since you looked over my alternate au post, then you will definitely see the things that either did not make any sense according to canon or characterization. And I’m not talking about the version of the characters ‘in my head’ I’m talking about ACTUAL CANON DEPICTIONS AND CANON EVENTS.

I’m not saying fuck Bianca, or fuck Jason lol 😂

I’m saying there were so many inconsistencies with previous canon and even within this own book that frankly it is just…. Not good. And I was so disappointed bc I believe they could have done much better and also it was very obviously rushed that I simply thought of an alternative story that a lot of people thought was cool.

And as a queer teen myself, I definitely understand that rep is important no doubt, but there was a lot of like… forced rep? You know what I mean? Like in a way that felt almost cheap in a way. And very lecture-like. The amount of noncanon, twitter meme talk, preachy morals and bad writing shoved down my throat was insane.

It exhausted me in a way that had never before happened in a riordan book. So yeah, it’s not all that amazing that one would miss the ‘main points’ of a story when it is so poorly executed.

Anyway, if you wanna talk more on our different views I’m open. I won’t change my mind that this book was just a complete mess but I also understand that people are okay with that lol.

They’re still good, but I don’t like that everything was completely changed and new characters were added instead of exploring the ones we already have :/

An unpopular opinion: It was really hard for me to get behind Deacon for most of the show. He was just such a harsh character and it wasn’t really until the second half of the third season/ the beginning of the fourth season (I think) that I really started to vibe with him.

My Canon OTP: Technically Cassie and Cole are the only canon ship in the show but I’m a multishipper so it’s not really an OTP by the technical definition

My Non-canon OTP: Ramse/Cole or even a little Deacon/Jennifer action because they’re CUTE together and Deacon GAVE HER HIS SHIRT

Most Badass Character: Deacon for sure. That man knows how to kick some ass and look amazing doing it

When I started shipping them: Uh like the first couple of episodes. Literally I think it was episode two and I kept looking at @transbucks like ‘we’re totally gonna end up shipping this right?’ and we did.

My thoughts: I just think that it’s one of those things where they’ve been through so much together and they have so much shared life experience and they support each other so genuinely that it’s a really well-developed ship, especially since their roles always seem to mirror each other. It’s *chefs kiss*

What makes me happy about them: THERE’S NO TRACE OF TOXIC MASCULINITY WITH THESE TWO. They are CONSTANTLY telling each other that they love the other and making jokes about banging each other- it’s HILARIOUS and so refreshing to see.

What makes me sad about them: Their last scene together. It makes me cry just thinking about it.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: one, that there’s not that much and two, that it’s always really creepy- like borderline abuse fantasy shit- or that Cole is substituting Ramse for Cassie like ??? that doesn’t make any sense

Things I look for in fanfic: That there actually is some and it’s actually focused on Ramse/Cole as the ship

My wishlist: Ramse and Cole raising their boys with Cole being the best stay at home dad/house husband ever- LET HIM REST

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I wasn’t upset with how the show canonically ended except for the fact that Ramse doesn’t remember Cole.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Ramse and Sam. Their father/son dynamic was so precious and it brought out the gentlest side of Ramse. Also Ramse and Jones’s bickering, and Ramse and Jennifer’s almost frienship?

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think I have an unpopular opinion about Ramse- well, other than I totally understandd his motivations for some of the stuff that he did that wasn’t exactly the GREATEST.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I want him and Cole to find each other after the finale.
