to you, what's the difference between eleven/amy and twelve/clara? which one do you ship more and why? (i'm guessing the answer to the second is pretty obvious but i'm curious about your answer)

i think the biggest difference, beyond like narrative and theme, is that twelveclara gets more breathing room in the series. obviously youve got the relationship between clara and danny, and missy and twelve (and missy and clara to some extent), but twelveclara is very much given the centre stage. the viewer's attention is meant to be on them, the show is about them (for good reason). the other relationships function as ways to explore twelve and clara as separate characters, of course, but they also very much work emphasise the relationship between the two as well.

and like. elevenamy isnt some super niche relationship with no screentime or development. theyre the core of s5,6,7a just like twelveclara is the core s8&9. (and just like ninerose is the core s1, and tenmartha is the core of s3. whether you read them as romantic or platonic or whatever, the doctor & companion dynamics foster a kind of intimacy that keeps the show interesting and moving forward).

but you definitely more get the sense that, especially in s6, the dynamic is fighting for space with amyrory/elevenriver. the show gets stuck in a weird place where it is trying to convince the viewer that the satisfying conclusion for all of these characters is amyrory and elevenriver, but the story ends if amy really chooses rory in any meaningful way (and thats no good if youre trying to get two and bit series out of it). so youve got elevenamy which is the driving point of the narrative and somewhat more interesting/dynamic than amyrory, and amyrory which feels (to me) like a much more stuck, static point but the show really wants you to believe that its satisfying and interesting (without ever putting much effort into it, because that would detract too much from the core relationship). both relationships suffer from that weird balance that gets struck.

twelveclara does not face that same weirdness so the relationship gets more room to develop (or in their case devolve into a spiral of self-destruction and timeline altering) (yay).

beyond that difference in narrative space. i think both relationships deal with some similar themes (because they are the themes that haunt most of moffat's time as showrunner, and some of the episodes that he wrote for rtd). memory, stories, identity in the other.

but there are also quite different points. elevenamy takes on a more religious tone (especially in tgc + tgww). amy isnt doctorified to the same extent as clara, so the narrative surrounding identity in the other differs.

elevenamy basically imprint on each other as children and tie themselves around that point of connection, they cant help but deify each other (they r cathyheathcliff). doctorclara (because eleven's relevant in this for a little bit) are tied together by missy (fate. prophecy. your sometimes-ex who thinks you'd get on really well with this brunette woman whos got problems. insult/compliment??) and then progressively become more and more like each other till they have to be cosmically separated. and they want to be like each other because theyre obsessed with each other, of course, but also because they think that it'll give them more control over everything.

amy leaves the doctor because shes convinced he'll always leave her so she needs to stay with her safety blanket backup husband so she never ever has to be alone again (and she'll never ever be lonely little amelia pond again). clara leaves (not really) twelve because of the aforementioned cosmic separation.

amy puts the doctor in her childrens book. twelve puts clara in a song.

lastly, i will always bat for twelveclara whenever wherever. but theyre good. theyre well-written and they crash and burn so beautifully. there's not much to say. elevenamy is so interesting firstly because theyve lived in my brain forever im normal like that, secondly because the writing gets so awkward at points that there's hundreds and millions of things to say. so i love them very much sorry to twelveclara.

Gosh. Is it silly to say all of them? Rarely is there ever a comment that doesn’t bring me joy. I adore liveblogging style comments, or viewers who point out phrases that stand out to them and how those lines make them feel!

As an author, it can be easy to forget that your words have impact and that there are people who enjoy your work in particular, and these types of comments remind me in the most delightful way!

There are many recent-ish ones I could name, but I’d say one of the most joyful things as a writer is to go back to something you know you loved as a child and realize its themes follow you and your work. So, here’s a few from my childhood!

Platinum? It’s been well over a decade and a half and I’ll never find it again, but the sense of wonder in that story stuck with me. I think about it often.

🌻: Who would your self-insert say that their biggest role model is?

Hmmm... truthfully, I think my self insert would have the same answer as me! I mean, that's how most these questions might go since my self insert is practically just me with slightly different lore and job, but still! This could be a very lengthy and emotional answer, but to keep it short, Dan Avidan! Particularly the musical side of his career, but absolutely still enjoy the YouTuber side of his career as well. His music carried through a lot, and his story of how he got to his career is very like..comforting almost? Cause he didn't make it big young or such, he made it was he was close to his 30s, and he had a lot of help and a lot of scraping for money and stuff. And he's still doing it now at 45! I mean, it depends on your definition of "made it" cause he's not some massive star or anything, but I think it's going nicely. It's nice cause like he's still doing all sorts of things he dreamed of and is/was passionate about regardless of how old he is(not that I do think he's old, but some people act like if you don't achieve your dreams in your 20s then it's over for you, which is a whole thing for another time how that's completely bologna).

Okay, maybe I didn't keep it toooo short😅 but I can't help it!!!! He's great.

'if i could then i would' - every century, the lurking has to relive the fall. over and over and over and - and -

it hates the ouroboros year.

it always fucks with its head, no matter how much it tries to prepare. like clockwork the lurking feels its sense of self get stripped to nothing, built up and set ablaze from the ground up. reborn. it doesn't remember being itself, does not ever remember existing whilst also dreading what is to come. it screams for something, anything to end this fucking cycle and then its gone until -

the hearth has never died. the hearth was extinguished centuries ago. the hearth falls and falls and falls and -

at the end, it claws its way up just like every other time. the void sings to it, bedrock vibrating with its tenor hum as it mocks and coos words of false encouragement until its far enough below again that the lurking can no longer feel its hooks digging under its skin. the heat in its chest dies the further up it gets. shadows coalesce, dragged from the depths, alive and yearning for light and they'll never have it again but -

it craves the ouroboros year. if only for a few seconds of that light it will never have again.

If you love or can't write without plotting and you still followed me after reading my "rules" page thingy, I am assuming that you have accepted that I am an absolute raisin at plotting. I don't approach people for plotting, it's very unlikely that I'm going to like plotting calls, because I just don't have ideas to pitch. I will likely take longer to respond to messages about plotting / asking me for an idea, because the amount of stress it generates is BIG, because 9.9/10 it's me trying to muster up the confidence to tell you I do not have an idea. If I have a plot idea to pitch to you, buy a lottery ticket because wow. Me and ideas have a horrible relationship. Planning what is going to happen in a thread? I just, can't do the think.

Other than that? I am in fact still working on my communication skills and I can and will admit that it's not "great," but I am doing my best which is all I can offer. It's gotten better compared to before. I'm very easily intimidated by people, and I have had a LOT of unfortunate experiences with cyberbullying so you may think talking to someone online is less scary than in person, but it's really not. All I can do is continue to work on it best I can, at my own pace.

And finally... I can be very slow. It's not because I want to be slow or because I ain't into our thread. I just have a lot going on off the screen here. If it were up to me? I'd pump replies much faster, because I really do love writing with ya'll.

I actually have pretty much all the chapter planned out until the battle begins but my problem is I do them by events so it’s like I want this this and this to happen in a chapter but idk how long it’ll take to make that happen but I know what I want to write lol.

(& sometimes the characters don’t LISTEN & I say be nice and make this an easy talk and they’re like no fuck you author I wanna fight right now and the convo takes 1.5k instead of idk 500 words lol. )

I just posted chapter 15 & I’m going to GUESS we are about halfway done. In my mind we are halfway through the last book and that means we have roughly 15 chapter left to go then the epilogue.

I’m pretty good at estimating chapter count but horrible at word count estimation haha.
