anyone else have multiple traumatic memories associated specifically with holidays/family vacations? because that is a topic I never see discussed in all the So You Had A Shitty Childhood, Now What? self-help books i've been reading. but for me, it was a significant thing. and the more i think about it the more it seems like this would be an (unfortunately) common experience. would be grateful to hear if this matches other peoples' experiences...

you're the kind of creature a person would see standing in the corner of their room, projecting such strong negative energy it makes them curl up under the blanket and pray for protection. the kind that would circulate around the internet because people can't stop talking about this figure that had unexpectedly shown up in what was supposed to be a happy family photo. the kind that parents would make up stories to scare their children into behaving.

one glance is all it would have taken for ghost to aim his gun at you and fire away. no one else is around at his end of the building, and no one would question it if they heard shooting, but seeing you made him pause. he's not sure if he feels scared, but he's definitely intrigued. you're unusually tall with long, crooked limbs and hair that reaches down to your knees. the two black holes where your eyes should be have him tightening his grip on his weapon because he can feel you staring at him, and when you open your mouth, all he can see is sharp, bloody teeth and pieces of what looks like some sort of meat stuck between them. he thinks he can guess what, or who, you ate.

what he doesn't expect, however, is for you to move forward, seemingly floating on the ground, and stand right in front of him. you carefully bring a hand up to his face with slow and gentle movements before caressing his mask. your nails are long and black, and he can almost hear you let out a soft sigh as you brush a thumb over the skull. he can't figure out why he promises that he won't hurt you, but his intrigue grows when two white dots glimmer right in the empty pools of your face.

when ghost regroups with the rest of the squad, no one can pinpoint why he feels more menacing than usual or why there's a bigger, darker shadow following him.

I am about to lose my gd mind. Some thoughts behind the cut

I am never listening to the general opinion about a specific romance again. EVER. I purposely left Lucanis's romance towards the end because all I heard was that there's no content and that it's boring and it's clear he digs Neve more than he likes Rook

What game were they playing? Yes, there's slightly less content than other romances (is there though? I'm pretty sure Emmrich is the only one who gets a romance-specific cutscene with the garden dinner). But the amount they packed into that content. Ugh

(I will be feasting on 'Tell me this ends with me asleep in your arms...' for weeks. FOR WEEKS)

So just because he really only has one kiss the romance is dull? This mf'er is dropping lines like the ones above and they think it's dull? This has shot up to my second favorite romance after Emmrich

I will admit part of it is because I'm in love with my own OC, but for me, it's not just the romance. It's the OC you create for that romance and Isle can do no wrong (think 'I have done nothing wrong ever in my life' 'I know this and I love you' meme. That's me and Isle)

And the timing of quests helps too, but again, it helps with all of the romances

So lesson learned. Lucanis romance is awesome and I can't wait to write some fic

I have no idea why this makes me laugh. This is a horrible situation for both characters to be in. Scott, of course, is getting tortured. Angelica is forced to play along as Jean's spy in Orchis.

But the fact that, in the midst of all this, they communicate through Morse code, because they were both Scouts once upon a time.

That just makes me absurdly happy.
