ok I can't believe I'm about to ask this, but if I was interested in Viktor and Jayce's original League lore, where would be the best place to get into that? I know next to nothing about League, so if anyone more familiar with the lore could point me to a good place to start, I'd really appreciate it!
I'd just be interested to see a more steampunky and machine focused approach to their characters, rather than the high magic one from the show. (at least in the game they seem more steampunk to me idk?) Inbetween seasons I was looking forward to that, so I was a little sad to see that they went with a different approach. (no shade, just my personal taste!!! pls don't come for me, I still enjoyed them in the show!)
#thanks in advance <3#my friend already send me their bios from the league website#but I'd love to get the tumblr fandom's input on this as well#whether or not I should start there or if there's a better way cuz idk I've never touched league lore before lmaoo#I wouldn't know whether or not they've reworked or retconned it before; which version ppl like; all that#me? being interested in league lore? in the year of our lord 2024? it's more likely than you'd think. I didn't expect it either#arcane#arcane spoilers#league of legends#jayce talis#viktor arcane

Hey y'all, I'd just like to genuinely thank you all for the supportive messages and the donations. Really, I cannot think of words that would justify how grateful I feel for everyone's help. We're still on the waiting list for the police to investigate the break in, opting to check if there were any CCTVs nearby in order to check the criminals fleeing the scene of the crime.
Other than that, I'm doing much better mentally than yesterday, so I can most definitely write the 2000 followers special again.
I also wanna say how awesome and amazing this community is. I've never been a part of a fandom that pushes my creativity to it's highest, while being supportive and not being at each other's throats because being in the FNAF fandom does things to you. I was pretty popular on the fnaf twitter scene, but it was SO TAXING AND DRAINING that I don't consider it worth going back to.
This is genuinely THE BEST community I've ever had the honors to be a part of (Shipwrecked 64 came very close), and I'm very honored to be at the spot that I am at right now, as creator of the Harlequin AU.
Thank you for supporting me, in my best and worst times. Thank you for being interested in the story I want to tell, and even asking about the world of it as well as it's cast. Thank you for always taking the time to reblog and comment in my works, because I love reading everyone's special inputs.
A very, very special thank yous to all my friends who inspire me to become a better writer and artist, to @thescarletnargacuga who is technically the co-writer for this AU at this point lmfao, to @nobody-nexus for being an amazing and loving partner <3, and to @sm-babie for getting me into showtime, which is the major reason this AU and it's story even exists.
And I know I don't always get to see it because of my incredibly short attention span (and tumblr's weird notification system), but I also would like to thank the other artists who've made fanarts, fanfics or OCs for this AU. There's A LOT of them, that it overwhelms my brain and I'm just- wow. I'm just really taken aback at how much people like this small, incredibly canon-divergent AU. My brain is getting FRIED at all this in the best way possible but woo I need a bit of a breather haha-
I hope I can continue to provide quality Harlequin (and showtime) content, and I hope to keep this train rolling. Keep being awesome, and keep being creative, everyone! The regularly scheduled content will be back rolling on track very soon. :')
- Ziku/E-Specter

im literally so obsessed with the post saying peter pettigrew would never be a traitor… that’s like basically The first thing we truly discover about him. right there from book three. like that is The Basis of his role in the narrative, that he was the traitor and sirius was not. that he was willing to bow to the winning power rather than risk dying for his friends and values (which is. the one issue the narrative never flinches on. doing the right thing rather than the easy.) like these aren’t real people, they are characters with narrative functions. peter is everything harry doesn’t respect, everything characters like ron and neville defy, when they doubt their places among their friends and still fight for what they believe in, and a foil to snape — snape’s love for lily causes him to make a good choice, peter’s lack of dedication to his friends causes him to make a bad choice. a bad choice that KICKS OFF THE ENTIRE PREMISE. like. yes these are characters and you can choose to play with them like dolls. but hp is a very tight narrative, and it’s silly to claim they are somehow at heart the antithesis of the space they fill.
I know like... if there's ONE detail about him then that's it. It showed up as a recommended post on my dash and I was so baffled for a moment haha. I could understand an attempt to defend his reasoning (I certainly like to understand it) but like... his character is nothing without that moment, it literally defines him as a character, so to say it's bad writing is so silly.
It's like if I made an impassioned post claiming that Voldemort would NEVER kill Lily and James. It moves past headcanon into just... outright denial of the basic facts of the characters and the story. Harry would NEVER have green eyes!!!! Tbh though Peter Defence Movement in general is the last thing I'd have expected a few years ago.
Recently just before I really started getting back into marauders fandom on tumblr, I posted in a discord asking for people's views on Peter, explaining my own interpretation and wanting input. And I was legitimately SO confused when EVERYONE replied in the vein of "hmm well that's not how I see him but ok. he actually was a poor little meow meow who took care of his friends and rubbed their shoulders after a battle, he was a scared little boy and he couldnt help it."
I was VERY taken aback by the complete 180 that peoples views on Peter seemed to have done, since I assumed my portrayal was controversially sympathetic. Fandom used to largely just ignore him, and when he wasn't ignored he was reviled. It once would have been heresy for me to imply Peter had any sympathetic qualities at all lol, whereas here I was pretty solidly shouted down for saying he had the unsavory characteristics we're shown in canon, such as enjoying watching James and Sirius bully others.
It's honestly so fascinating, like when did this happen lmao
#like i said in that post i think it's just that ppl don't like the story/characters#and feel the need to justify it by saying its bad writing#rather than the truth which is that anything mildly complex or dark makes them uncomfortable#like this is a KIDS SERIES. I'd hate to see them read idk. anything written for an adult#they definitely said something like he would rub their backs or clean their socks i cant remember exactly but i was like WHAT lol#also they didnt love it when i pointed out peter was responsible for almost all the deaths in the first order not just l&j#peter#anti marauders fandom#also GREAT point about peter and snape i love that#replies

hello... 😅 uhm, first of all, i truly am sorry in advance for being awkward 😭 but for once i decided not to let my awkwardness keep me from sharing (what i think/hope are) positive thoughts with a stranger on the internet, so here i am.
i'm not around much and legit only made this acc bc like you i'm a late bloomer here and needed as many outlets for my yizhan/wangxian obsession as i could get my greedy hands on, in the big year of 2023... sigh. anyway, as an avid lover of meta/analysis posts since my early fandom days began around 15 (oof 🥲) years ago, finding your acc was such a lovely surprise. i agree with your views a LOT, and really appreciate how eloquent and well-written your posts are! even more so bc there's a lot i still don't know and most of the time the source material is very hard to reach and/or understand due to the language barrier, so having other turtles to rely on to access those, even if filtered by their own biases/opinions, is wonderful. besides, such input coming from a new fan is also comforting and imo refreshing, juxtaposed with that of older fans... it keeps the fandom alive and all that jazz. it's also very brave given how ruthless some folks can be on the internet, and on this corner in particular 😮💨 it just felt like reading my own thoughts written by someone else sometimes. i gasped and nodded at your posts soooo many times djskdjdj thank you for that!
(btw you followed me back the other day and i legit fangirled irl bc ??? whatttttt 😅 i still think it was an accident but okay omg djskdjdj AHEM. sorry)
then today i logged in and read your recent posts feeling squeamish about sharing more thoughts and as much as i 100% relate to you saying that kind of attention makes you anxious, i just... idk, i had to let you know i enjoy everything you post, even though adult life has kept me from being able to read it all so far. i understand you stepping back and i respect that decision, i'm not by any means asking you to go against what you know is best for you. at the same time, i can't help but hope you'll still show up every now and then bc your posts will be missed 🥲 i guess the whole motivation behind this is that it just made me sad to think your valuable insights will be something i'm yet again late to, if that makes sense?
djskdjdj again, i'm so sorry for being awkward and weird and dropping all of this on your inbox unprovoked. you don't have to reply (or read this AT ALL omg 😭😭), in fact i'm so embarrassed by this that you'd probably have to reach me through inquiry lmaooo 💀 anyway, have a great life, thank you so much for the great job, bjyxszd etc ❤️💚💛
Oh, don't be anxious! I'm really not a big deal.
Thank you for dropping into my inbox! I love hearing from other turtles, especially relative newbies, like myself! One of my fav parts of coming out of lurking mode is getting to talk to other people. I kinda follow back anybody who follows me, cause it seems polite? I don't know tumblr etiquette. I just follow the tags when I get the chance.
I appreciate the encouragement! I try to avoid dramatics, so I'm sorry for the upset last week. The situation is largely resolved, and I am feeling more okay. I kinda backed off because I wasn't sure of my footing here in fandom as compared to others, especially as I do think I have some takes that fall outside fandom consensus. Again, I don't mean to rock any boats and I'm not invested in convincing anybody that they should have the same opinions as I do. Hearing from turtles who do want me to continue posting gave me some more confidence there.
So, yeah, I expect I'll post some more as I have time. I'd like to post more on dd (cause he's my fav). I'd also like to try to figure out gg cause that dude is so confusing to me. I do have RL stuff going on, and I don't have the time to be super-active outside of occasional posts. But I'd like keep posting stuff. At least until I get all my Yizhan thoughts out.

Hey! 21+ F roleplayer dipping her toes into something new. I have felt like trying out the omegaverse setting for a while, and I've finally decided to give it a go!
I'm looking for:
-Smut will be included. -I'm happy to play the alpha or the omega. -I prefer mxm to fxf. This is because I don't know a thing about how fxf omegaverse (especially smut) works. If you are willing to explain, maybe we could give it a try, but I'm not 100% interested at the moment. Also, I'm not really into mxf, doesn't matter if I play the woman or the man. -I'm looking for patient partners who will not be bothered to explain certain things about the Au! -There are a couple of fandoms we can use, but fandomless rp is what I'm primarily looking for at the moment. -I'm open to any kind of OC (feminine, smaller omegas, tall alphas, subs, bottom doms etc.). My only request is: don't let the role or type of your OC get in the way of putting effort into the plot! I don't want your character to react to things I do, I want you to put equal effort in what we're doing: play NPCs, do whatever you feel you need. But don't let this roleplay, plotting stage or the smut only drag you along! -I have a few ideas and things I won't do (that I will say in private to avoid the post being censored by Tumblr) but I'm honestly pretty new to the AU, so I'd love to have some input from you as well, to understand what goes on in the community in terms of tropes and plots. -I prefer plots with drama or angst. However, I don't want to roleplay as or against someone too problematic so I don't dig age difference, incest and non-con. Darker themes like slavery, power imbalance etc are cool with me, but let's try to make our characters relatively good people in this world? -I'm fine with short-term pregnancy plots. I'm not really happy to play child-rearing, so let's end the roleplay before that if it comes to it. -I know this is omega verse, but I'd like to keep the unusual anatomy changes to a minimum.

☕ coffee shop update ☕
This post will talk about supporting me financially, which is absolutely NOT REQUIRED to continue enjoying my content. So if it's something you have no interest in or cannot do, I completely understand, and you're welcome to skip the details. But if you want to know more, it's below the cut.
Thank you for your continued patience and support. 💖
~~~
For those who have been keeping up with my life updates, you know that I'm currently seeking a major career change due to some unfortunate workplace circumstances. I'm still on the lookout for a new position, but the search has not been going as smoothly as I'd hoped, and until I can find something secure, I need to stay where I'm at for the moment, which is taking its toll on my mental health.
As I've considered other options, doing paid commissions again came up as an idea, but I don't want to (at least right now) for a couple of reasons that I won't bore you with. The point is that, after some consideration, I've come up with something that I like better and I think may work better for everyone.
I've added the option for monthly donations on Ko-Fi, starting at $5/mo. That's $60/year, for those who don't want to math (I got you). One-time donations are still an option as well.
Think of this working like Patreon, only on Ko-Fi, because that's what we're used to, and it's a lot more practical for what I'm going for here. I'm still going to create content right here on Tumblr (what exactly that looks like idk yet; I may have to just stick with coffee shots for a while), and I'm still going to share with EVERYONE and include everyone, both financially supportive and morally supportive. Any time I want input on something, I'll ask everyone here. But if you WANT to and/or are able to, donations are open and very much appreciated.
The benefit goes both ways. For me, less stress about money makes it easier for me to find another position without having to worry about the layover time or whether I'm making exactly what I used to before (based on what I've seen so far, I won't be), and less stress about work means more creative energy, which means I can focus more time on creating content, which is what I really want to do. I've had so much fun the last couple of weekends filling coffee shot orders, and it would be so cool to be able to do that more frequently in the future.
The benefit for you is, hopefully, more content. More fics, drabbles, etc., that I will retain creative freedom over. Rather than paid commissions, where I write what others want me to, I will continue to write what I want to and share it with you more often as time goes on. When my heart is really behind a piece of writing, I feel like it shows, and I want everything I share here to be of heart-was-in-it quality. (This isn't to say I'll NEVER do commissions again; I may be open to doing them again, just under different parameters. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.)
Plus, the less I have to worry about finances, the more time I can devote not only to writing, but to discovering new things to write ABOUT, which will lead to new fandoms and shippings and whatnot that we can get excited about together.
Once again, financial support is NOT REQUIRED to continue to enjoy the content I create and share here. I'll do it regardless. The pacing may be slow and the road a bit rocky, but I'll do it. I love creating fun stories for you; it's always been my biggest passion to write, and helping me out a bit while I figure out life circumstances would be extremely helpful for me to get the ball rolling a little faster. But of course I understand not everyone can or may even want to do Ko-Fi support, and I got you. I won't be upset about it.
Worst case scenario, I'll keep doing what I've been doing and post when I can, when I have the time and mental energy to do so. I'll find a new position one way or another, and life will continue on. I fully understand that nothing may come of this. I just figured it couldn't hurt to try. It's not like it can make life circumstances worse.
Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and support as I navigate this new season of my life. I never thought a career change would be necessary, but alas, crap happens. Whether you support me through Ko-Fi or just cheering me on right here on Tumblr, I appreciate you very much. All of you good beans are the reason I decided to give this platform a second chance. Here's to making the most of it. 💖
💘🌻🎈📡☯️🪄(I had such a hard time choose XD) for the fanfic ask!
💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?
Like all of my old works but specifically Shooting at Myself and the Mad Ducktor Thingie. I haven't read them in a while but Ik they need a good looking at. XD They're still my top DT fics tho, so I assume it's not as bad as I'm thinking. XD
🌻what makes you want to give up on writing? what makes you keep going?
I don't know if I've ever purposefully given up on a fic or wanted to give up on writing altogether. Usually with fics it's just a sudden realization that I haven't touched my WIP in like three months, and as for wanting to quite writing altogether it's just like.... what else am I supposed to do with my day then?? XD
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
Oh I have no idea... succinct, maybe? Unless I don't want it to be, then I can go on forever about something. XD I'd say it's pretty fixed. XD Ik there's a few fics where the writing feels a little different somehow (Can't You Tell feels like that for some reason), but it's pretty much the same.
📡why is writing and sharing your writing important for fandom?
Idk! Ig I've never thought about what the fandom specifically gets out of it, it's more like what do I get out of it by the validation I get when people like it sslkjfsldkjd XD
☯️how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you're not a social person/experience social anxiety?
It lets people share their ideas!! The whole reason I got an ao3 and tumblr was specifically so I could have input in the fandom and be able to show y'all the stuff I'd written. I'd been writing a lot before I got one, and finally I just decided I wanted to show it to everyone. XD I usually try to leave small encouraging comments on things when I have time, and I've found that reblogs are a very fun way to interact as well. Watch me tag an artist's post with ten keysmashes and then make a friend 'cause they appreciated that. XD
🪄what is your post-writing/sharing aftercare? How do you take care of yourself or celebrate yourself when you've finished a fic?
Usually for bigger fics it's just take a break. XD I love writing, but oftentimes finishing a giant one (Welcome to the Madhouse comes to mind first, actually- that was 50k words I wrote in a month) I'll let myself not feel bad if it's taken me a week or so to get back to writing. Looking back through my posting dates, I finished Where's My Mind in September and only have one other fic (that was like 2k words) that I put out that month. Which is pretty slow for me.
Let's Clear Up Some Confusion!
This post is breaking down two sections of the Writing Server Interest Check form I posted recently! You can find a link at the bottom of this post, and you can find a link to a taglist post at the bottom as well.
Join me under the cut!
Features
I love the feature suggestions I've been seeing, but I also want to clarify how I've been using the word "features"!
I've been using it as a way to describe characteristics of a possible writing Discord server that you might not have heard of as a writer on Tumblr or that I haven't seen a lot of in the writing servers I've been in.
An example is sprinting! Sprinting is big in a lot of writing Discord communities, but not as big on writeblr! That's why I mentioned it and gave it a brief description so that it would grab attention and spread information.
Another example is RP Rounds! A lot of times, people think of RP as a fandom thing or as solely interaction between characters. However, it doesn't have to be! It can be interaction with locations, magic systems, etc. I included this in one of my posts because it's not something I often see.
Some things I didn't mention were general writing channels and critique channels as I thought I'd implied it in my "pitch", which was "Anyone want to join a group (hosted on a Discord server) dedicated to writing, collaborating, critiquing, beta reading, editing, etc. and welcoming all types of writing (including fanfiction, screenwriting, etc.)?"
That being said, a channel for thought provoking questions about WIPs, characters, worldbuilding, etc. and a channel for sharing work and receiving constructive criticism in return, both examples of suggestions I've received, are still answers I love because they show that y'all are actually interested in the server and are thinking about what I'm asking!
So if you haven't completed the form yet, let me know your thoughts for the open ended "Do you have any suggestions for other features?" question, and whether or not it's something that I feel is a given, I'll still appreciate your input either way!
Rule Structure
I also wanted to touch on the question about rule structure.
Would you prefer rules to be more broad and lenient with room for interpretation or more elaborate and consistent with less room for interpretation?
I'm going to offer an example of each so that they might better help you all understand what this question is trying to gauge.
Example A, Broad and Lenient (with room for interpretation):
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
This is a rule you'll often hear in schools. However, you won't often hear it enforced. Its purpose is to prevent physical fights, and as long as your hug isn't causing a scene, they're not going to say anything about it. However, some people will enforce it quite literally and say things like "no high-fives".
This means that the rules aren't only open for interpretation for members, but also staff members!
Example B, Elaborate and Consistent (with less room for interpretation):
Any physical acts of violence are prohibited. Physical acts include but are not limited to punching, kicking, biting, hair-pulling, and shoving.
This is a rule that goes more into detail about what's not allowed and will be easier for staff to enforce because it does not require the staff member to decide whether or not it is "worth it" to get involved with a certain issue like in the one above. If this rule is broken, it is an issue. Plain and simple as that.
This means that there will be more structure, templates, etc. that allows everything to stay organized!
Conclusion
If any of this information changes your answers to the above questions, feel free to edit through the link the form gave you OR make a new submission, clearly stating in the "Do you have any questions, suggestions, concerns, etc.?" box that this response is an update. That means that your previous submission will be deleted with your most recent submission being the one that counts.
So... it's been a hot second...
Hey, folks! I'd like to apologize for our sudden disappearance. My mental health has been declining recently, and I haven't had the motivation to put my all in the questions Mod Frog and I have received.
As someone who's been on Tumblr for, give or take, 4 years, I wasn't expecting to get over 30+ asks in our Krusie inbox. It has been very overwhelming for me, and it doesn't help I easily stress out about miniscule things.
It's entirely my fault for not sticking with this blog. I had a responsibility for creating this, and I tend to float between fandoms and communities that cater to my current interest.
I love Deltarune, truly I do, but I only keep with fandoms for a certain amount of time. I think I knew this going in, but I was so excited with the possibility of showing my love about Krusie that I fell in head first.
Also, Mod Frog has moved platforms! I'd like to thank them for playing Kris and showing us their lovely art! And thank you, dear reader/fellow Krusie enjoyer for deciding to take part in this blog, whether it was liking our posts, reblogging our stuff, or sending us an ask. I'll keep this up for 24 hours before I delete the blog entirely.
If you're interested in seeing what I'm up to, you can check me out on my main blog and you can check out Mod Frog's blog as well! I'm gonna reopen the inbox for a bit so I can hear your input before I remove this blog off the face of Earth. Again, I appreciate you hanging out with us and interacting with Kris and Susie! /g
you mentioned in some of your tags that you don’t know what the fanon/general fandom opinions were. from what I’ve seen (I’m also a new fan) vi/caitlyn is pretty big (my guess would be because of how blatant it is), however, with...idk how to put this? average LOL fans think it was rushed and don’t like it. tumblr, of course, is into it tho. jayce/viktor is also huge. a lot of people seem to resonate with jinx and silco’s familial relationships. I’ve also seen a lot of people in the fandom not recognize the ableism in Viktor’s arc, which is worrying. if you don’t care to spoil yourself on where these character’s arcs will go in future seasons, I suggest you look up the LOL lore of: vi, ekko, viktor, and jayce. some are just...a slap to the face. anyways, have a good day/evening.
OHH okay omg (nods) tysm for a brief little insight, bc i was looking in the tag a little but it feels like tumblr's tag algorithm is a lot worse thn wht it was even before. unless the fanbase on here is smaller than wht i thought or sth HELP OK lemme dump this reply under a read more bc im rambly pjhpsrgjssfpgs
but a lot of tht hm? i THINK thats just about wht i expected - so no big surprises.
i dont blame the average LOL fans- a sentence i never thought i'd say skpgjsp - bc i can deffo see a lot of the places where it was like..eh. yknow. i said it myself. it feels a little undercooked in some places, and seemed more paced to keep it fast and snappy. like they kinda like they really could have spent more time on a lot of things- and so i presume tht'd be rllly frustrating if u were deeper into the pre-existing lore.
then regarding these little guys.... yeh i think i heard abt vi/caitlyn bein p big. :3 i still stnd by not rlly giving a damn (HELP, thats said with love i prommy)- but you kno nonetheless im happy tht ppl are enjoying a wlw relationship..... like its good they arent being sidelined by ppl. even if im not into tht scene i'll just nod from a distance.
BUT, THOUGH DO YOU KNOW WHATS SO, SO FUNNY? like ok. viktor and jayce obviously, like, occurred to me- but i also just kinda. kept pushing it to the back of my head? does that make any sense? like- jesus like. WELL DUH THEY'D HAVE SOME TUMBLR GIRLIES GOING WILD... silly me... and its like i feel like i sorta figured tht'd be going down, but it was in my peripherals out of clear sight HELP. wasnt helped by the fsct they kept separating the besties in the latter half- which i mean, obviously tht was bc of them drifting away frome ach other and stuff, but oh sniff sniff im emo nonetheless bc i rlly loved their relationship... 💖 LIKE i think its just in my head i kkinda just . i have no idea i never labelled them as anything i just kept jokingly mentally referring to viktor as his little bestie with a heart above the i, keeping them fun an ambiguous whilst medara gets her shit rock'd by him HELP PGJS[0JDH[PGKBPSD.
but also, on the subject of viktor- ah... yeah. :/ i wasnt sure if tht'd be sth tht'd be talked abt and.... the more it rlly became apparent, the more i hoped it wouldnt just be glossed over but . also ik tht happens a lot with things like this. god. i do hope tht those conversations are had at some point, more openly- like,granted im probs not gonna be knocking abt the communities on here tht much (and even if i was, im not sure how much i could really input into that?!) but yeah. thats a shame. 3:
and hm.... you know i might look into it. just bc theres some guys here im GENUINELY pretty into and idk if the show itself will fully give them their dues, even if it doesnt diverge- bc im INTERESTED... i love viktor. and ekko. and vi. sooo badly. and im super curious abt jayce. so help. i might go spoil myself now (bc in truth ive never been tht mad abt spoilers irpdgphjdhj and idk how much it counts here anyways).
THANK U FOR THE LITTLE THOUGHTS ANON. ITS NICE TO HAVE ANY JUMPING OFF POINTS TO CHATTER AWAY. i will have a good ... norning... <3 its like 2am here omg
#egg yells back#Anonymous#edit: OH I ALSO DIDNT COMMENT ABT JINX-#yeah im<3 ... yyeahh<3#I KNEW a lot of ppl resonated with jinx also before going in#(ALL THE JINX ICONS. LIKE IM OBSESSED.)#but i get it too babes<3#actually i never rambled abt tht myself like-#i will at some point but god...#i do actually rlly love wht they did with silco and jinx in the end. fucked up. but yeah christ help
I have a bunch of questions for WS anon since I am interested in other celebs possible pr too!
1. With your job, is it regular for anyone working in the industry to have tea? And do people working in or share what’s real or not?
I would say it gives you the opportunity to hear gossip or rumors that only people in the industry would know. I will say you'd probably need to go out of your way to learn about it. In my case I work with athletes and aside from the people they hookup with, their scandals, vices it's not really a place with tea. But I do make a lot of friends in the industry and we gossip all the time and they share from their respective fields and about the celebs they work with or have a connection to. I guess it's the same as any kind of workplace gossip.
Working in what? You mean working in pr? A celeb's pr team will never tell you what is real/authentic or straight up fake or a mix of both. The most they'll give is what strategies they impose or how they mold things. But not directly, oh this is fake btw. For obvious reasons, they keep a lot of things secret and things only they would know. A lot of friends in pr do like sharing input or teach our gc how things go or look for the signs or the strategies we wouldn't even have figured without their help. A lot of times we also just hear a lot of rumors from inside sources that just outward contradicts what is being presented by the media/pr play of a celeb.
2. Can you tell me your thoughts on often thought pr couples? I am not a harrie at all and I see this from pop culture blogs.
lily/timmy - I don't know if it's pure pr or not but I've at least heard Timmy was also hooking up with other women during all those times he was with Lily. A lot of people have told me it's pure pr/mostly pr though. They did seem like a nice match as future it girl/boy but their reunion it didn't seem as interesting.
seb/ale - I actually don't follow either of those two enough. I thought Seb has always been pretty open about his gfs? At least I thought him and Leighton were pretty public. For his current gf, if it's pr then he hasn't gain a lot of fame imo. The only place I see him relevant or getting talked about is the tumblr/twitter stans which while loud isn't that big. I mean his fans sure let his last film flop hard, I doubt the BO was even enough to pay him.
henry/nat - I feel like I blocked out Henry's love life when he was dating a 19 year old. But I would say this is real. Until I see Natalie suddenly becoming a star I'd say this is pretty standard for Henry. Him and Kaley, yeah none of you can convince me that was real.
chris/jenny - A lot of people will kill me, but since Jessie admitted she also thinks they're pr then I'll admit I do too.
tom/zendaya - I think they're real. Either way I love it. We can probably judge based on how long this will last.
shawn/camila - real, but my friend says they're way more subdued in private at least
bennifer - I already sent an answer to this before
ben/ana - the blueprint
hiddleswift - pr
abelena - pr
If you're asking if I think they're pure pr, I don't know what happens when they're alone together to say it's all fake. I imagine hiddleswift, abelena, ben/ana probably hookup in private but was never as serious or real as they made it appear. If you're asking if they're real and using it for pr, well yeah I would say all of these would qualify as they're using it for pr too which isn't a bad thing. Like Ryan/Blake are obviously real and using their relationship for publicity.
3. Do you think hiddleswift was bad pr for Tom?
Not really. I do think it was meant to be longer with a full better rollout and ended too early with Taylor backing out. As someone who considers herself a self-hating swiftie, Tom gained a lot of loyal fans in the fandom for example and hiddleswift was pretty memorable pop culture moment in general.
4. How do you really feel about the holivia questions and harries in general since you tend to get the most abuse from them?
I'm irritated because of the angry anons and people who can't respect opinion. Other than that, my opinion on holivia still remains the same and it will not physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or financially hurt either Harry or Olivia. In the first place, I don't remember ever spending money for them. I think as long as Jessie allows pop culture discussion and allows the question, we can all and should respect opinion. I'm not in any way anti or pro holivia. I don't mind a pr relationship cause to me it's a normal and harmless part of their job. I also don't think pr should be equated as bad at all. We're kidding ourselves if we don't think celebs are like this.
5. I’m just basing this from the harry stans in this blog, but how do you see Harry benefit from holivia?
I already said this to my one harrie friend here but I always saw his fans overestimate his fame. Harry is big but he isn't BIG. He hasn't come to the level of Taylor, Drake, Ed, JB, or their counterparts for actors. Every celeb who came at that level went to levels of attention seeking and pr. When you're trying to venture into film, there are separate pr that could also be demanded from you. Being big in one industry doesn't equate to being an instant hit or success in the other. Especially when the film industry does have a lot of hesitation with singers to actors. Especially when with Harry he seems to want to be taken as a serious actor rather than the easy going route many of his contemporaries have done to jump start their acting career. Harry is being talked about a lot by blogs and accounts that used to barely mention him before. He is being discussed as a regular gossip which didn't happen for years. Imo fans just think he's too big for anything or that he is immune to pr or attention seeking. Me and my friends never saw him that way and we also never saw Harry as incredibly relevant or big, rather than he has an incredibly dedicated fanbase
Question for WS anon but I would also like to hear your opinion Jessie? Do you think Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling call the paps . Because I've generanlly heard that he is an extremely private ccelebrity but all those spottinga with his kid don't necessarily seem very organic to me Also are there any celebs that dont really call the paps?
You can be a private celeb and still call the paps. Ryan is a private guy but he has always been pretty open who he's dating and end of day they don't give us a lot of update or info about their relationship. Abel has started calling the paps a lot, but in hindsight he's still very private about himself.
I think the only celebs who don't call the paps are ones who don't have publicist.
You answered this so thoroughly, thank you! X
I’m genuinely just curious because I’ve read so many AU fics at this stage and I want to write some myself but when it comes to fics that have any canonically alive gay characters dead… does that count as burying your gays or not? I just don’t know and I loved your discussion on fandom on the podcast so I needed your input and advice on how to deal with a delicate subject in a sensitive way .
Hello, anon!
I'm going to do my best to flesh this out with you, but I haven't been on Tumblr in a bit and my discourseTM is probably rusty!
This ask is hella tricky IMO. On the one hand, I personally believe that queer experiences should run the gamut in media, because queer people are people, which means queer people can also die, obviously. But on the other hand, the trope is a trope because of the disproportionality therein. Since queer people are usually underrepresented at any given time, seeing them suffer or die often feels unnecessary. Queer people should be able to have stories that don't center around turmoil or being in the closet and romances that don't end with death or one of the partners realizing they were never queer at all and running forlorn into the arms of a member of the opposite sex.
In my experience, intention also matters. I, for my part, don't mind torturing or killing my characters when I write. I treat everyone the same. That is to say, anybody can get it! I'm here the ANGST. But it's worth understanding the motivation behind your literary choices. Why THIS character? Is it BECAUSE they are gay? Does their sexuality add to the turmoil surrounding them or is it just one factor of who they are? Those things make a difference to me.
If you're telling a story about a queer person's queer journey, and that is your intention, I would say to be honest about their story. Don't go for shock value or make them a pawn in someone else's pain. Tell THEIR story and convey the message without intentionally traumatizing your audience. If you're telling a story that has queer characters in it but doesn't center around said queerness, I'd say to be careful about how your queer characters are treated in comparison to your straight characters. Don't have one die right after they finally get to be with their same-sex partner (*cough cough* The 100 *cough*), and don't have them die just because it's shocking (*stares in Supernatural*), and definitely don't kill them in a traumatic way that highlights the stereotypes and disparity that their race or gender expression has seemingly brought upon them (RIP Poussey).
When all is said and done, gays can be buried. And they can be buried well. (Look at POSE as a great example of this) Just don't bury them for the sake of the heterosexual gaze. Queer people have had enough trauma in their lives, and while we deserve to have our stories told in all their multifaceted glory, it's also okay to give us some peace, love, tranquility, softness, and beauty along the way. That alone can also be our story.
To answer your ask more directly, when it comes to fics that have any canonically alive gay characters dead, it CAN count as burying your gays. I think it depends on how and why it's done. If it feels unnecessary, it probably is. If it feels intentionally traumatic, it probably is. TBH, we don't need those stories. We don't even really want them. So ask yourself why you'd want to tell that story in that way and what value it adds to the collective queer narrative before you hit publish.
I hope this is an adequate answer, but if not, thanks for getting my brain juices flowing anyway ;)
Hi! Thanks for organizing what looks to be a fun event. I’m hoping that you will be open to some input but if not feel free to ignore and delete. I’m not expecting you to respond to this publicly. This is mainly food for thought.
I do understand that you’re trying to keep the Santas secret for as long as possible. But the consequence of this blog doing all of the original posting on tumblr only is that the creator will be robbed of all of the much craved fan engagement with their own work and blog. A possible solution would be to use an AO3 collection where you can reveal the work as anon and then author later, but the work and any comments/kudos are always the creator’s. A second idea would be to just let the creator post and reveal themselves on tumblr at the same time. Thanks for reading this far. Hope you have a lovely event!
Thank you for your feedback nonny!
I get and respect where you're coming from, but this is just how I've decided to organise the secret santa, and have ran it for many years in other fandoms.
Call me old-fashioned, but to me fandom secret santas are all about the joy of gift-giving, of making something tailor-made for a single person. For a secret santa gift - to me as a creator myself - it is not about the amount of likes or reblogs I'd get on a post, all I care about is whether my giftee likes it, because I made it for them :)
I'm not organising this exchange for clout either, the only tags I use are the giftee's username and #kptssanta22, I use none of the general KP tags. And you probably missed it in the guidelines, I already did create an AO3 collection for this gift exchange as well :)
For examples of my other secret santas: @stereksecretsanta, @malecsecretsanta & @wangxiangiftexchange
I know this setup is not for everyone, and that's okay. This is just how I do things :)
Do you have any writing advice for someone who really struggles with writing body language? I have a hard time reading it in the real world and I'm lost on how to write it in my fics. I think my dialogue is fine it just seems like everything else is lacking. The transition from rp writing to fanfiction is really tough, and I can't seem to adapt to the now popular fanfiction trends of the way things are written. I'd be very grateful for any advice.
Anon, do not worry! Many people, including myself, strugglewith this. I’m going to make a couple of assumptions to get us started (if theyare incorrect just shoot me another ask and I can go in a different direction).I assume that if you are coming to me then you have read some of my writing andtherefore I also assume that you enjoy supercorp. With those two assumptions inmind I’m going to use that arena to give my advice. But please keep in mindthat this is only MY opinion. I’ve been writing pretty much my whole life andI’ve learned that there really is no right or wrong way to go about writing.Sure, there are preferred styles, grammatical rules, trends that may bepopular, etc…but essentially you have to find YOUR flow and style. Writing andwhat is considered the right way to write so subjective.
And just as a quick note I have never done rp writing sokeep that in mind.
Here is my advice (and I explain each point below):
1. Keep trying at the real life body language and understandthe pros and cons of having that information.
2. Use the resources you have (e.g., the show and gifs).
3. Find actors/actresses to use as muses and inspiration whoare really talented and who also put everything into their characters.
4. Read!
Reading body language in the real world is hard. When youare interacting with another person there is so much else going on. Not onlyare you most likely participating in that interaction but you are trying toprocess what the other person is saying and doing on top of consideringenvironmental/situational variables, analyzing your own intentions while alsotrying to gauge the other person’s intentions – its crazy! This is why so fewpeople are good at this. Yet body language is crucial in many cases. Hell, in apersonal example of mine just recently – I was saying everything I could tosomeone, being EXPLICIT with my diction and my intentions and they just didn’tget it (or chose to ignore it for what it was :/) and…*sigh* well it’s a messlet me tell you. And I wonder if the interactions between us had happened inperson where there was body language (i.e., extra data) to process then perhapsthings wouldn’t have become so convoluted? There has been a lot of research thatshows we humans are not really good at conveying what we mean in simple text.If someone sends you a text that IS IN ALL CAPS you know something is going onout of the ordinary. They are excited, angry, etc… and are trying to getcertain information across in that way. That helps to a point. And its funnythat the rise of emojis was supposed to help us communicate better, beyond capsand punctuation, in written form but new research is showing that we evenmisinterpret those as well lol. So obviously body language can help us withthis problem but again for many of us that can be overwhelming to deal with inthe real world. That being said, writing body language still needs to berealistic and convey important information but in fiction we can process iteasier than if it was happening live in front of us.
Lucky for us, we are writing fanfiction and we have thosecharacters on our screen where we can watch them over and over in the privacyof our own homes with little distractions. If you are in the supercorp fandomthen even more lucky because we have some of the best gif makers in the entireSupergirl fandom and they are an absolute blessing. I think gifs are underratedwhen it comes to character analysis but they are so good for body languagestudy because you have a small amount of data input, three to ten seconds orso, and it automatically repeats so no pausing and rewinding back on Netflix oryour stream. So let us look at an example:
These gifs were created by @brielarsan and you can find the original post here.
Holy shit. This is a writer’s gold mine. I mean look atthis: we know Lena doesn’t have a lot of friends (really none at this point inS2, our poor precious baby *cries*). We know she only ever felt accepted by Lexand look what he did to the world and ultimately her. And we’ve seen the longgazes, the smiles, the lip bites between her and Kara/Supergirl. We alreadyknow all of this – we have this data! So in that mindset, what does this mean?What does that sudden breath mean for Lena when Kara finally opens the doorknowing what we know? She has found acceptance in someone else – Kara – someonewho knew she was a Luthor from the start but has put her belief in Lenaregardless. But even if you don’t know or don’t use all of this data look ather body! Look at her hands, for example. They are in a classic worry positionone that other characters have done (see Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy asjust one example) and Lena has done this herself several times across many episodesbecause she is a soft precious baby who is really worried how others perceiveher. Now look at her facial expression. You can tell exactly when Kara openedthe door and realized it was Lena. Even though we can’t see Kara’s face we cantell from Lena’s face when Kara smiles because we see that relief on Lena’sface. And then in that second gif what does that little shy sway mean? What doyou pick up from her doing that? To me, she is not only relieved that Kara isletting her in her home and doesn’t seem at all freaked out that she is there butalso in a way she is in a giddy disbelief that she’s not being turned away akashe feels accepted (and of course these two fools love each other and we cansee that here). And look how we can see all of that in how her hands start torelax too! My biggest piece of advice is to study stuff like this and/or mimicit in your own fics. Also look at what people say about gifs in the tags! Its so frustrating when people don’t put anything in the tags and I can be guilty of it but some people do the type of interpretation I just did above in the tags of gif posts and you can learn a lot by seeing how others are interpreting a scene.
You really can’t do anything that I just mentioned above ifyou don’t have that talented person on your screen though. Lucky for us we havethe one and only Katie McGrath who conveys more character information in twoseconds of acting than some of the other characters on Supergirl do in anentire episode. I could probably write two pages of description based on thetwo short gifs above and that is all in thanks to Katie and her wonderfulness. Katieis also a perfect example at someone who puts her heart and soul into hercharacters. You can tell that by how she does her interviews and the in-depthanswers she provides. She really IS Lena on screen. Chyler is another greatexample on Supergirl. I mean, Chyler should be earning Emmys for her portrayalof Alex in both Season 1 and 2 but I’m biased (and Katie too for Lena’s character). Sasha Alexander as Maura Isleson the TNT’s now concluded show Rizzoli and Isles is yet another example thathas benefitted me. When you have amazing characters and actors/actresses behind them they can inspire you to write your best stuff and give you so much to workwith.
Lastly one of the other things you can do is to read.Whether its published fiction or fanfiction just read and see how others are conveyingbody language. When you read a section and get that vivid imagery as a readerstop and evaluate that section. What did that author do to set up that scene foryou? How do they have the characters interacting with one another and theenvironment around them? If you ever get to beta for somebody take thatopportunity! It will give you the chance to read someone’s fic and be in themindset of editing where you are looking at how the story is coming togetherthrough dialogue and body language. Or you can even contact one of yourfavorite writers and just tell them about your favorite sections of their pieceand list the reasons why. Not only will you make that author’s day but that mayalso help get a conversation started where you can discuss the intricacies ofthe characters including body language. This is really how @stennnn06 and I gotstarted talking. We squealed about Katie (as we still do) but then we startedlooking at each other’s writing, beta-ing for one another, and collaborating. Ican’t speak for sten but I know that I write better after discussing Lena andour headcanons with her. You can try to get a beta for your stuff too! Whenyour beta starts analyzing your stuff and asking you questions it really putsit in perspective for you and you can learn so much. I can tell you right nowthat I learned more about one of MY OWN stories by having @mssirey beta it andgive me feedback.
On another note, also check out some writing blogs for tips. @heywriters is a great source and would be a good start for you. You can alsogo to my blog on tumblr (not tumblr mobile) and I have a page on the right handside labeled ‘Writing References’ and you’ll find a bunch of sources. Just out ofcuriosity I searched ‘body language’ on the search function on my blog and itbrought up some good posts so maybe check those out too!
I know this is long and probably not anything you wanted butthere is my advice :)
hi! i really love your art! im an amateur artist and i wanted some advice on how to get exposure for your art...i'd like to do commissions and sell my work, but i havent gotten any attention at all so i came to you and others for advice if that's ok! thank you in advance!
I’m absolutely flattered you like my art omg??? I may not be the best person to ask as I have next to no exposure and have never done any commissions or the like orz but regardless I can give some tips to the best of my ability!
First of all, before I get into any of this, remember to draw for yourself, yeah? Like if it doesn’t make you happy then don’t push yourself- your well being is always more important.First off, to really get more exposure a tip that I can give that is a bit shallow is to sell out a little? As in draw fandom stuff if you really want to at first grab people’s attention. People are probably more likely to stumble across a drawing done of something that has a following than entirely original characters- that is not to say don’t draw original things. Not at all! Remember to always draw what makes you happy first and foremost, this is just something that can help boost your initial exposure.Alternatively if you don’t want to do fandom stuff but still want exposure/post in a way that guarantees that there will be someone probably seeing your stuff is participating in memes/months kind of activities. I’m not too knowledgeable about this kind of thing but I’m referring to Mermay and the like. I think of it almost as a festival so there will most definitely be people lurking in those tags and in turn seeing your stuff. Tumblr is at its core a social media network in which people socialize based off of familiar interests, so if you get your interests out there chances are you will find followers who share your interests which in turn will get you more exposure.Tumblr works as a tag system. Like say someone wants to look up Pikachu from Pokemon right? They can either do it via the search function.
Or manually input the url to look through the ‘tag’
So you’d assume that if you tag your picture of Pikachu it’ll show up both in tags and search, but that exactly the case. Your first five tags are the most important because those are actually the only tags that will guarantee that your picture will end up in the tag page. So your first tags should always be specifically the most popular tags/the tags that will give you the most exposure- save your tag rambling for the ends (I’m actually a terrible example of this as I rarely utilize tags to the full extent). Similarly, from what I can understand only the first 10 tags show up in the search function as well unfortunately haha. Every tag counts so tag efficiently. Timing is also a thing. Certain social media websites are actually most active at different times, so posting at the right time can actually maximize the amount of people seeing a piece. Tumblr is at its most active at 4-7 PM EST and peaks on Fridays. Even if you can’t post your drawing at this time, you can queue it or even reblog your own art so that your followers can see it.
Some other social media website times:
Twitter- 1-3 PM Facebook- 1-4 PM
Befriending other artists is also a good tactic for exposure- that being said make sure if you’re befriending someone its not solely for exposure, genuine friendships are a must- as their followers will also be more likely to see your stuff.In the end though, these things take time so don’t expect and immediate boost in popularity. Overall though these tips should help I believe? If anyone else has any other advice please feel free to add to this!
hi zuzu, i noticed that a people come to you since you're very open minded and have strong opinions. you don't have to reply if this makes you uncomfortable in any way or you feel like it might cause drama because i feel like alot of people get hate over stuff like this so you can ignore this! i just love your opinions so i thought i'd come to you but feel free to read this and ignore it okay
Anonymous said:i've seen you say that discussion is good to have and i agree! so ji/kook used to be one of my favourite pairings but i've seen so many annoying and hateful shippers & they kind of ruined everything for me because now whenever something happens i know i'll see it everywhere and some are just really hateful ): i obviously appreciate their relationship because what matters most is ot7 and not ships? i just can't see it romantically anymore because of it i think (2)
Anonymous said:i think it wouldn't bother me so much if i just liked them but didn't see it romantically yknow? like, it's okay for people to just not see it romantically since it's not real and it's our imagination and stuff. i guess what i mean is that it'd be okay if i hadn't stopped seeing it because of hateful shippers i'm not sure how to put it into words i hope i don't come off as stupid or ignorant and bitter or something i'm sorry (3)
Anonymous said:now i kind of regret sending those messages lol.. sorry! and again feel free to totally ignore those, i really don't want you to get hate i think i saw you mention that you can defend yourself and i'm sure that's true but still i just wouldnt want you to have to deal with stress or drama. hopefully it all went on anon too my gosh please ignore everything if it didn't jdhfjd also you don't have to reply to this particular ask if you decide to answer the other four. anyway sorry again
i feel like not a lot of delusional shippers follow me because i complain about these things every now and then, so don’t worry!
i had a lot of issues with jikook and some other ships too (still do with some), i think it can happen that other people will ruin things for you to an extent, BUT you always have to take a step back and look at what it means to you as it is without input of other people
for me i loooove jikook, it’s actually like my second favorite pairing lol ;; but they are honestly one of the most popular ships (literally the most popular one on tumblr which was seen in fandometrics posted here not long ago), being so big ofc there is going to be more hateful shippers as well, cause that is just proportional
like for me it’s pretty easy to get rid of the bad apples, i don’t go into tags and unfollow and blacklists or mute people that are like that, and i’m left with just seeing the cute moments for the most part
though sometimes even people that seem reasonable slip into the annoying thing where they start romanticizing jealousy and stealing moments from other ships etc etc, but i think you can come across that in any ship fandom or how to call it lol
sorry i’m not sure how else to answer cause i’m not sure if i even understood your problem that well, which is why i wanted some more time to think about it 3: so i’m sorry, basically you’re upset that you let the hateful people influence you? when that happens to me i just take a break and make sure to filter out the bad people and then come back later and see how i feel ;; idek sorry ... to me it sounds like you just don’t ship them romantically and that’s fine, you don’t have to ship them or put romance into it at all, cause yeah, the romance part is all made up and fantasy of shippers, so you can just appreciate their relationship for what it is, if you would like to get back into shipping them just take a break and see later once you weed out the bad people, i think,, that’s what i would do
Anonymous said:i saw your message zuzu! take your time don't worry but thank you for letting me know
but yeah
