How do you come up with colours for your pieces? (Ex. Keluarga cemara 2.0, 2x3x4 touch, philautia and storge, it's hip to be square, character designs, etc.)

The way you color adds so much atmosphere and character to a drawing and I just wanted to know if there was a specific technique you used or. 😵‍💫

hi, eddie! thank you for asking! I usually eyeball the color palettes I use in my artworks while paying close attention to their original character references. when I want to change their color palettes to portray the mood or setting of the artwork, I think about what "gradient" I'm going to put them in. I apologize if I cannot put my thoughts into words well, haha! I'll try my best to explain.

for "keluarga cemara 2.0", I think about the "gradient" mute yellow and purple. the greys and light blues get affected by the mute yellow, turning them greenish. the dark blues and red get affected by the purple, inching them towards indigo/purple.

of course, there are other things to consider, like skintone. it would be a mute orange because of mute yellow's influence, but I want to make it just a bit more vibrant. just tweak the colors as you wish, as long as it stays true and correlates to the "gradient" you're aiming for.

you can find applications of my techniques in various artworks, as pictures below. backgrounds also play a large part in building color palettes, as you have to match your subject's color palette to its surroundings. it's all about feeling, the feels!!!

as for character design, well, it's their base colors. the colors you use as references for artworks that they're featured in. however, I have my own personal rules when it comes to character designs.

for example, I rarely use #ffffff white for scleras. it clashes terribly with the rest of the colors that are not as vibrant. I also tend to avoid using #000000 black. here's a handy chart to explain my thoughts further.

I believe that's all I can explain for now XD I'm not the best in putting my thoughts into words properly, but I hope this can help you, eddie!

shes very much a lesbian. just. just like yeah. i think the most prominent character that she flirts with (other than alice) is mally. from what ive seen it only really happens when its el dormouse on stage but before i started seeing that i always saw mally/absolem/thackery as like, a trio. i mean obviously everyone in the band are friends, but idk. i have lots of drawings of those three hanging out so maybe thats just something my delusional brain has completely made up. but anyway the point is i dont ship those two and i sort of see them with a more sibling dynamic. mally always holds her back when shes trying to touch the little castle music box thing, at the end of sets he’ll pull her antennae to take her off stage/she'll pull him by his scarf, etc. (also theres a clip where she kisses him on the cheek and as they begin to walk off stage she turns to the crowd and mouths “no” and does the throat slitting gesture thing which makes me think theyre sorta just playing around :p)

I come bearing BoTeru Thots ✌🏻(these can be applied with just the two of them and as a poly ship too hehe)

Bokuto absolutely keeps cute photos of Terushima in his locker, both just him and the two of them. And if you’re involved, then he has photos of the three of you; some with just you and him; and some with just you and Terushima

They’re both crazy high energy, so people think it’s constant noise and action, but home life is actually so chill because they feel safe enough to let their walls down and just recharge with each other (and with you hehe)

During holidays and at different times of the year, Bokuto lets Terushima dye the light parts of his hair in different colors. So he gets red and green at Christmas, pink for valentines, etc. It’s all done professionally but it’s not meant to look amazing, so he doesn’t mind that it’s kinda goofy looking cuz his boyfriend did it for him!

Terushima hears about so many different places from his clients, and likes taking Bokuto on dates there whenever possible. And when Bo takes him out, he always manages to make sure Terushima picks up at least 1 new client from all these exclusive events. He always looks after MSBY for team shoots too, and is the only stylist that PR contacts

Terushima’s really good with organization, and Bokuro lets him change things up around their home whenever he likes to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Scheduling is always handled by Teru (unless it’s a surprise from Bo)

Bokuto likes posting about all the achievements that you two accomplish to his social media. Like, every platform he’s on. His official accounts too.

Terushima (and you) looooove leaving marks on Bo, but he did make you promise to try and keep it to places hidden by his msby uniform. Everyone knows he’s happily dating, but his PR team had a serious talk about his public image and made him swear not to show up with hickeys all over his neck and thighs anymore.

Terushima’s salon also love when Bokuto comes in, cuz he’s super sweet to the older woman who runs it. She’s the only client who’s ever been offered services on the house, but instead he likes to work with apprentices and let them get more experience (then tips them really well) and Terushima only gets slightly jealous when it’s someone else running their fingers through his hair

They’re both switches and always try to make the other cave first (both think it’s so cute when you’re their sub, they love it when you take charge, and they melt when one of them has to sub for the other two)
