IMAGINE THE KAMO CLAN WANTS AN ALLIANCE WITH THE ZENIN
so they offer that noritoshi (who is secretly in love with teen!fushiguro reader) marry her, the zenin and the kamo have made this type of alliance for years, it is totally normal for them
but definitely the kamo did not wait for naoya to come to his house shouting that no kamo spawn is going to sully his sweet daughter---- NIECE
when the others hear the news, toji, gojo, nanami, megumi, mai and maki arrive, ALSO SUKUNA WHO TOOK POSSESSION OF YUJI'S BODY
poor noritoshi
AHahaha yesss, I mean the elders just wanted to form an alliance, and neither clan really knew just how strong Fushiguro reader was as a toddler, so it was right to arrange a marriage for you.
As a child, Noritoshi didnt really care much for you, especially since he had battles of his own- being born to a mistress, being the heir of the clan because the head wife couldnt bear sons so, he has to deal with that.
But youre adorable and you grow on anyone, even the Zenin clan, so when toddler Fushiguro reader meets 9 year old Noritoshi, the latter only thinks of you as a spoiled brat at first. And why wouldnt he? Youre running around barefoot in the garden, dressed in sparkly pink hello kitty pjs with servants chasing after you, with Naoya screaming from the shed that he'll lock you up if he catches you grabbing his million dollar koi fish.
Noritoshi's disgust is quite understandable when you come upto him, hair disheveled, face sweaty, and you stick your muddy hand to his face.
"Hi! Im Y/n Fushiguro!" "ZENIN! Y/N ZENIN!" Naoya yells before dragging you away for training (Naoya didnt want you to meet your future husband).
As time goes on, Noritoshi would be sent to the Zenin estate on different errands (by this point, the Kamo clan has heard rumors of your powers and now want Noritoshi to go and woo you, which is a huge task since Noritoshi isnt someone who is able to express emotions, much less romantic ones). But even though he might not be able to express his emotions, doesnt mean his heart hasnt turned soft for you. Youre pollar opposite to him, loud, energetic, carefree- and yet Noritoshi cant help but feel that you... sort of complete him. Youre everything hes not and he likes that. Like 2 puzzle pieces that fit together, he completes you too. Hes quiet, calm, realistic- he brings peace to you, especially when youre mind gets overstimulated by- well, you.
How many times has it been that Noritoshi has stopped your panic attacks when you realised that your father Toji, wasnt coming back? How many times has Noristoshi had to pull you into his robes when your cursed energy started to lose control, risking himself just to calm you down and help you control it as his soft monotonous voice guided you through it?
And how many times has it been that Noritoshi would have his terrible day turned around with just you calling him "Nori!"? Or the times he'd be questioning his worth in the clan and all he needed was you to lean your head against his shoulder to feel like a million bucks? Noritoshi would be the type of man who people would think doesnt really care about love and marriage, when in reality, he just spent the entire night listening to you yap about your day, about Hello Kitty, about uncle Naoya, pausing in between to say "hmm, okay its getting late, we should sleep" only to suddenly remember a new topic to ramble on about. And youd think Noritoshi wanst listenting to you with the way hes staring at your face in awe, but really- he remembers every single word. You could quiz him. Its funny listening to man like him talk about Hello Kitty.
When the time comes for you two to actually get married, Naoya throws a fit, and surprisingly, the Zenin clan also doesnt want to marry you off to Kamo clan (or anyone). People opposing the marriage from your side would be the Zenin clan, the twins (who start telling you all the reasons why marriage is a trap and youd be dead in 2 days.), Gojo (he just chuckles and tells you not to worry because he wont let you be forced into marriage), Nanami (my man wholeheartedly believes youre being a victim of child marriage, BUT NOT ON HIS WATCH! GONNA KILL ANYONE WHO EVEN THINKS OF U LIKE THAT- just sit in his condo and eat the sandwhich he made for you. And dont argue.), Megumi (who doenst get why he wasnt ever informed that you, his baby sister, was in an arranged marriage, and why the hell didnt Noritoshi try to get his blessings/permission considering THAT HES YOUR CLOSEST FAMILY MEMBER??? Also, no- youre not marrying Kamo) and then... theres Sukuna (if you thought Naoya threw a fit, youre in for A WORLD OF TANTRUMS AS SUKUNA SCREAMS AND MOST LIKELY KILLS WHOEVER IS IN A MILE VICINITY, just to let off some steam and calm down before he talks to you and REMINDS YOU THAT YOU PROMISED TO MARRY HIM! HAVE YOU BEEN PROPOSING TO EVERY GUY YOU MET?)
People supporting this union would be all from Noritishi's side, including- the Kamo clan, Choso Kamo (cause ofc, youre just a precious baby like Yuji, and with you being part of the clan means he can protect u better), and surprise surprise Kenjaku (because youd be strong addition to the clan and then you and Nori will have babies with SUPER STRONG CURSED ENERGY AND HE'LL ACCOMPLISH HIS PLAN FOR WORLD DOMINATION).
Anyways, its a sticky situation and it all comes down to you really. Do you want to marry Noritoshi or not?

Jee Dates
Enjoy some tooth rotting fluff...I love Uncle Buck and Uncle Tommy. 🥰 I have been writing so much but I guess it's because I definitely won't have the time once school starts back up!
_______________________________________
"Tommy, wake up," Buck said softly, gently shaking his boyfriend's shoulder. "It's Jee date day."
Tommy stirred, a smile spreading across his face even before he opened his eyes. "Already? What time is it?"
"Early," Buck chuckled, "but you know how excited she gets. We promised to pick her up at 9."
As Tommy got out of bed, stretching, Buck couldn't help but reflect on how they'd gotten to this point. He wasn't quite sure how it happened. He had always been close to his niece, but once he and Tommy started dating, she was drawn to Tommy like a magnet. And Tommy definitely didn't mind his adoring fan.
At first, it was casual outings - they would take her to the park or out for ice cream, or she'd come to their house for pancakes. But somehow, those casual meetups evolved into what they now called "Jee dates."
Now they had a standing date once a month where they would spend the whole day with Jee, doing activities of her choice. It had become something all three of them looked forward to, a special tradition that strengthened their bond as a family.
"So, remind me what the plan is for today?" Tommy asked as he pulled on a t-shirt.
Buck's grin widened. "To your delight, and Maddie's dismay, Jee has chosen the Monster Truck rally."
Tommy's face lit up with excitement. "Yes! I knew that kid had good taste."
"Well, she certainly takes after her Uncle Tommy in some ways," Buck laughed. "Maddie's convinced you're corrupting her daughter."
"Hey, expanding her interests is not corruption," Tommy defended playfully. "Besides, Jee loved Disney on Ice last month. She's a well-rounded kid."
Buck nodded, remembering how Jee's eyes had lit up watching her favorite characters glide across the ice. "That's true. From Disney princesses to monster trucks – our girl's got range."
"Exactly," Tommy agreed. "And who knows, maybe she'll grow up to be a professional ice skater who drives monster trucks in her spare time."
Buck couldn't help but laugh at the image. "Now that would be something to see. Maddie would probably blame us for that career choice too."
As they continued to get ready, both men felt a surge of anticipation for the day ahead. These "Jee dates" had become more than just a fun outing - they were a chance for Buck and Tommy to share their love, to be role models, and to create lasting memories with the little girl who had stolen both their hearts.
"Ready to go pick up our favorite girl?" Buck asked, keys in hand.
Tommy nodded, a soft smile on his face. "Always. Let's make this a Jee date to remember."
With that, they headed out, ready for a day full of monster trucks, cotton candy, and the unbridled joy of a child they both adored.
As they got into the car, Tommy grinned and said, "Ready for another adventure with Jee-bug, fellow Guncle?"
Buck rolled his eyes fondly. "You know, technically that's not quite right. I'm not gay, I'm bi."
Tommy's face took on an exaggerated look of shock, his voice deadpan and dripping with sarcasm. "Wait, you're bi? How come you never told me?"
Buck couldn't help but laugh, playfully shoving Tommy's shoulder. "Oh, shut up. You know what I mean."
Tommy's facade cracked as he chuckled. "I know, I know. But 'Quncles' doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well, does it?"
"True," Buck agreed, still grinning. "Though Maddie still thinks the qualifier isn't necessary."
Tommy nodded, his expression softening. "Right, because we're both just Jee's loving uncles, regardless of our sexuality."
"Exactly," Buck said. "But I have to admit, I do like our little 'Guncles' thing, even if it's not technically accurate for me."
As they pulled up to Maddie and Chimney's house, they could see Jee's excited face peering out the window, clearly having been watching for their arrival.
"Guncles!" she squealed as she ran out the door, Maddie following close behind with a backpack full of Jee's things.
Maddie shook her head with a fond smile. "I still say you're just uncles, but I guess I'm outvoted on this one."
Tommy grinned. "What can we say? The kid has spoken."
Buck just laughed as he got out of the car to scoop up their excited niece. "Ready for some monster trucks, Jee-bug?"
As they drove towards the Monster Truck rally, Jee chatted away happily in the backseat. Suddenly, she piped up with a series of questions that caught both men off guard.
"Hey Uncle Buck, how come you date boys? Are you guys ever gonna get married and be husbands? Can I be the flower girl if you do? And please don't get married at the hospital like Mommy and Daddy did, okay? And how come Mara and Denny have 2 Mommies? Are you ever gonna have a kid? Will your baby have 2 Daddies? If they do, will they be sad they don't have a Mommy? Will they call both of you Daddy?"
"Well, Jee-bug, that's a lot of questions," Buck started, his voice gentle. "I'll try to answer them all. I date boys, or in this case, your Uncle Tommy, because that's who I fell in love with. Some people love boys, some love girls, and some, like me, can love both."
Tommy nodded, adding, "And yes, we do plan to get married and be husbands someday. When we do, we'd love for you to be our flower girl."
"And we promise not to get married in a hospital," Buck chimed in with a grin. "We'll pick somewhere much more fun."
"As for Mara and Denny having two mommies," Tommy continued, "families come in all different shapes and sizes. Some have a mom and a dad, some have two moms or two dads, and some have just one parent."
Buck picked up the thread, "Tommy and I would love to have a family someday. And yes, if we do, your cousin will have two dads."
"But they won't be sad about not having a mommy," Tommy added. "Because they'll have two parents who love them very much, just like your mom and dad love you."
"And if we do have kids," Buck concluded, "they might call us both Daddy, or we might use different names to avoid confusion. We'll figure that out when the time comes."
Jee seemed to consider this for a moment. "Okay," she said finally. "Can we get cotton candy at the monster trucks?"
Buck and Tommy both chuckled at the abrupt change of subject, typical of a child Jee's age.
"Sure thing, Jee-bug," Tommy said, catching Buck's eye with a warm smile. They both felt a surge of love - for each other, for Jee, and for the family they would have someday.

9-1-1 Buck/Tommy - Love me as I'm a morning with no alarm...
While Tommy is still fast asleep, Buck begins stowing away the remaining moving boxes in the attic, which Tommy had kindly offered him for storage space. As Buck rummages through the attic, he comes across a collage featuring Tommy's photos and is immediately smitten. He carefully brings it downstairs and settles on the sectional, gazing at it dreamily for several minutes.
Until his attention is drawn to the coffee table, where Jee's neatly arranged pens and some of her drawings are laid out. Among her drawings is one that depicts the three of them, with Buck on her right and Tommy on her left. Tommy's handwriting adorns the drawing, with the words "Me and my uncles" encircled by a pink heart.
Feeling inspired, Buck takes one of Jee's pink pens and, with his tongue sticking out from the corner of his mouth, adds his drawings and writings to the pictures. After he finishes, he looks at the result with a proud grin. Just as he's about to bask in his accomplishment, he's startled by Tommy's voice from behind, "That needs to be framed and put on the wall in my office at the station."
Buck blushes and responds, "So you consider this a masterpiece? But don't you think it might be a bit too much? I mean, what would your colleagues say?"
Tommy leans in from behind, planting gentle kisses on Buck's birthmark, temple, and cheek before taking a closer look at Jee's drawing. "Little Jee has such talent and is truly the best niece one could have," Tommy remarks proudly.
Buck's gaze shifts to the sheet in his hand and his smile wavers. "I suppose so," he says, his voice tinged with disappointment. He had hoped for a different reaction.
Just as he's about to resign to his thoughts, Tommy surprises him by plopping down on the sectional next to him, showing a genuine interest in the pictures and Buck's 'additions.'
"I find it adorable that you put a crown on my head, think I'm cool, and appear to have a total crush on me," Tommy says with a grin as he shows Buck what he's done.
Tumblr media
"But I have something for you as well," Tommy says, smirking as he hands Buck a sheet with a photograph, doodles, and printed text. Buck reads the lines. Then, looks at Tommy and says, "You planned that all along? But how did you know…?"
"Evan Buckley you are an open book to me and I knew it was only a matter of time…"
"Tommy Kinard?"
"What?"
"Shut up and let me love you as you're a morning with no alarm."
Tommy doesn't even have the time to reply as Buck takes the lead and presses him down with his weight. They started making out like crazy until they lose their balance and drop to the floor, laughing, now with Tommy on top.
But not for long, as Buck flips him back on his back. They stare into each other's eyes, let their souls talk and start a dance to a song only they can hear…

Planning My Wedding With Some Guy I'll Never Marry
"Jee, wait!" Buck ran after his giggling 4-year-old niece as she made an escape towards the front door.
Jee threw the door open before Buck could get to her and squealed. "Uncle Eddie!"
Buck stopped behind Jee and saw how Eddie's face lit up at the sight of her.
"Hi Jee Yun!" Eddie said excitedly and waved at her. He got on the floor and gave her a hug.
Buck's heart did a flip when he saw that but he ignored it. "What are you doing here?"
"You don't want me here?" Eddie asked as he stood up.
"No- I- I didn't mean that," Buck huffed. "Do you want cupcakes?"
"Uncle Eddie, come have cupcakes!" Jee said excitedly as she took Eddie's hand and led him to the kitchen.
Eddie smiled and followed her. Buck had no idea when she started calling Eddie 'Uncle' as well, but he liked that.
"I came to check on you," Eddie finally replied after settling down with the pretty pink cupcake that Jee had decorated.
"Thanks, but I'm better now," Buck replied and scrunched his nose lovingly at Jee. "This little one made my day significantly better."
Eddie took some frosting and put it on Jee's nose, making Jee adorably frown at him. "Kids make everything significantly better," he replied. "So what are we doing now?"
"We?" Buck asked.
"Play!" Jee provided
"I love that idea!" Eddie replied and smirked at Buck. "What should we play, Jee?"
Jee tapped her cheek and hummed as she thought about it. "Wedding!"
"Wedding?" Eddie asked. "How do we play that?"
"Uncle Buck and you get married!" Jee replied excitedly and clapped her hands together.
Now it was Buck's turn to smirk. "What? Scared, Diaz?"
"Scared of what? Marrying you?" Eddie huffed.
"Scared of being perceived as anything other than straight," Buck teased.
Buck's pretty sure he heard Eddie say "about that" under his breath and he felt his heart almost leap out of his chest.
"Okay, Uncle Eddie, you stand there," Jee said bringing Eddie over to the couch. "Uncle Buck, you stand there," Jee added, bringing Buck next to Eddie.
Buck briefly looked over at Eddie to see him smiling. He has been so carefree lately, and Buck loves to see that.
"Uncle Buckkkkk!"
Jee's voice brought Buck out of his thoughts and he looked over to see her standing there with her hands on her hips. "Up!" She said. "I wants to stand on the couch!"
"Oh!" Buck immediately picked Jee up and put her on the couch.
"We need rings!" Jee whined.
"I've got some ring pops from Halloween?" Buck suggested
"Okay!" Jee perked up again.
Buck ran to the kitchen and returned with a red and a green ring pop. "Which one you want?" He asked Eddie.
"Red!" Eddie replied and snatched the green one from Buck's hand.
Buck rolled his eyes and turned around to face Jee. "So are you the priest?"
"What?"
Buck heard Eddie's nervous voice and looked over at him confused. "What?"
"Did you say something about the priest?" Eddie asked.
Buck looked at him weirdly and then said, "I was just asking Jee if she was the priest since that's easier for her to say than 'officiant'."
"Oh," Eddie visibly let out a breath and Buck was even more confused by that.
"Uncle Buck, put the ring on Uncle Eddie's finger!" Jee demanded.
"Don't I get to say my vows?" Buck asked.
"What's vows?" Jee asked adorably and tilted her head to the side.
"Hmmm.... It's something the people getting married say to each other so that they can remain best friends forever," Buck explained.
"Okay! Say your vows!" Jee said excitedly.
"Eddie Diaz, you're my best friend, my rock, and I don't know how I could have gotten through this breakup without you. Thank you for tolerating me and of course, marrying me. I hope I can be a good husband to you," Buck found himself meaning that last part.
"Hey, man, I'm always here for you, no matter what," Eddie replied. "You got me through these last few months without Chris. I didn't think I would be able to do it alone. You also helped me get out of my shell and accept myself. I owe you Bria- BUCK!"
Buck's eyes widened when he heard his slip of the tongue. "Wh-"
"Uncle Buck! Ring!" Jee insisted.
Buck looked at her. "Huh?"
"Ring!" Jee whined.
"Oh, sorry, right!" Buck took the red Ring Pop and then asked for Eddie's hand. He pushed it past the second knuckle on Eddie's ring finger.
"Yay!" Jee cheered and clapped her hands. "Uncle Eddie! Now you!"
Eddie took the green Ring Pop and put it on Buck's ring finger. "Till Ring Pop does us apart?" He joked.
"Something like that," Buck replied and rolled his eyes.
"Now kiss!" Jee told them.
"What?!" Both Buck and Eddie exclaimed at the same.
"Kiss kiss kiss!" She insisted.
"Can we hug?" Eddie asked.
"Noooooo... kiss!" Jee pouted at them and crossed her arms.
"I guess we're kissing then," Eddie laughed nervously.
Buck felt like his heart was about to leap out of his chest as he leaned in and met Eddie halfway. They pecked quickly but Buck still felt a spark.
They both pulled away and Eddie grinned at Jee. "Happy?"
"Yes!" Jee replied. "Now let's dance!"
And dance they did. The three of them jumped and danced around to Olivia Rodrigo songs (Buck making sure they were the clean versions) but it was cathartic. Buck picked Jee up at one point and both Eddie and Buck gave her a kiss each on the cheek.
Jee was soon out of it and fell asleep with her head on Buck's shoulder.
Buck sat down on the couch and Eddie sat down beside him, smiling at him.
"You sure you're good?" Eddie asked.
"I think I will be. I mean, break-up baking aside, I have my favorite people around me, that's all I need," Buck replied.
"Hey, I know we never really talked about-"
"Don't say his name!" Buck warned, making Jee stir against him.
Buck gently thumped her back to have her sleep again. "Sorry, I just- I don't wanna talk about him."
"Okay," Eddie nodded in understanding.
They stayed quiet for what seemed like hours.
"I think I have a crush on a priest," Eddie finally spoke up.
Buck turned his head so quick towards him that he almost gave himself whiplash. "What?"
"Yeah..." Eddie replied without looking at him and offered no other explanation.
"Well, shit," Buck replied and looked ahead.
They both sighed at the same time and it was obvious for very different reasons.

🎃 + sleepy
-❤️🪐
I personally was kinda surprised by this one but I like it - enjoy!
“Not sleepy”
The statement would be significantly more believable if someone’s head wasn’t resting heavy and floppy into the curve of Buck’s neck.
“Of course not, totally wide awake. I can tell.”
The sheer amount of love evident in those few words is overwhelming. Buck throws Eddie an amused look while he shifts Jee in his arms, getting ready to stand and take her to bed. The adorable little girl snuggles deeper into her uncle’s arms and Eddie keeps a firm grip of his facial expressions, only allowing the smallest part of his emotions to show.
Jee grumbles another sleepy protest as Buck gets them upright, her tiny weight obviously nothing to him, “Don’ wanna go bed, no’ fair”
The petulance is just too cute. Much like the sight of Buck and his niece reading together had been. Jee falling asleep curled up on Buck’s lap was a lot to process. The desperatly tender expression on Buck’s face as he’d stroked her hair and read to the last page despite her having checked out the story a few pages earlier almost cracked Eddie there and then. He’s been waiting for the right time and he won’t last much longer. He thinks Buck is at least slightly expecting it. He hopes he is anyway.
Jee is quiet again, falling asleep again almost as soon as Buck started moving towards her bedroom. It’s extremely easy falling asleep in Buck’s arms, he should know it’s been his privilege for a little over a year now. Buck disappears out of sight with his niece and Eddie starts to tidy up.
“Fast asleep.”
The words come at the same time as arms wrap around his waist and tug him into a hug. Buck kisses his neck and Eddie closes his eyes, enjoying the ordinary moment. He loves this man so very much and either all moments are special or none are so why not now.
He twists within the circle of Buck’s embrace and kisses him, making it soft and gentle.
When they part Buck blinks happily dazed eyes at him. “What was that for?”
“I need a reason to kiss you now?” Eddie quirks an eyebrow.
“Not really but that one felt particularly pointed.” Buck’s sparkling blue eyes dance with pleasure and amusement and love. So much love and Eddie feels it all too.
“Maybe it was. You were pretty damn cute this evening with Jee.”
Buck’s eyebrows lift, inviting additional information. Eddie just kisses him again and puts everything he feels into it by the end of the second kiss he’s reached breaking point and the time is definitely right. So he asks the question that’s been on the tip of his tounge for weeks.
“Will you marry me? Because I really need to be married to you, like right now.”
He doesn’t miss the sharp inhale or the flash of joy in bright blue eyes before Buck responds with a slow drawl.
“Probably can’t manage right now …” his soon to be fiancé looks delightfully smug; eyes twinkling, head tilted at a charmingly cocky angle and Eddie’s gonna kiss the smirk right off his face any minute, “but I’m free next month, think I can probably fit you in.”
Tagging a few to share or no one will even see this and it’s kinda cute if I do say so myself

I feel ya...this has been the worst week I've had in years. Sending hugs!
Bucktommy prompt: Jee cuts her own hair while Buck and Tommy are babysitting her
Thank you, anon! I hope you have a better week too. I really hope you like this, I kind of played with it a little. And here's another appearance of Alex, from last night's girl dads ficlet because I couldn't resist. Thank you!!
When Tommy walks into the house late after a shift, it's quiet and Evan is stretched out on the couch, reading glasses on his nose, a well-worn copy of Devil in the White City, one of his favorite books, on his lap.
Evan hasn't noticed him yet so Tommy just looks and marvels. They've been together now for 6 years and Tommy can't believe it sometimes, that he gets to have this. He watches Evan push the glasses up his nose and his grin widens. Those are a new acquisition, one which Evan had despaired of after he'd turned 37, but Tommy thinks he looks adorable.
He must make a sound, or maybe Evan just senses him, because he looks up and smiles when he sees Tommy standing there.
"Hi," he says softly, mindful of the girls, who should be sleeping in Alex's room.
"Hi, sweetheart," Tommy says, walking over and bending down for a kiss. "How's the sleepover going?"
"Good. We ordered a couple of pizzas and made chocolate chip cookies. We had fun. I put them down an hour ago, but I have heard some illicit giggles, so I have my doubts sleep is actually happening."
Tommy grins. "Illicit giggles, huh?"
"The hallmark of having a little girl who's having a sleepover with her older cousin," Evan says with a little laugh. "They're having fun together."
"I'll go check before I hop in the shower."
"Okay. Shift go okay?"
"Uneventful," Tommy answers, taking his own hand and pushing Evan's glasses up his nose before he has a chance. He has a sudden rush of glee when Evan actually blushes. Even after these years together, he can still make him do that every once in a while and Tommy loves it.
Evan pulls him down for another kiss. "Go check on the girls. I'll heat up some pizza for you when you get out of the shower."
"Thank you, baby."
Tommy makes his way to Alex's room and shakes his head fondly when he does, in fact, hear giggles coming from the darkened room, though he sees a faint light coming from the cracked door.
"Girls," he says warningly, pushing the door further open. "You're supposed to be asleep."
"Daddy!" Four-year-old Alex squeals, rushing off her bed and towards him like a little blonde rocket. Tommy catches her under the arms and sets her on his hip. "I missed you!"
"I missed you, too, my munchkin," Tommy says, smacking a kiss onto her cheek. "Hi, Jee..." but he stops, because something seems different about her and he can't quite place it until she says,
"Isn't it cute, Uncle Tommy?" She has a wide grin on her face and that's when Tommy sees that she's cute a large chunk of hair off in the front, like she was trying to give herself bangs.
"Um, yeah, sweetheart. Evan! You might want to get in here!"
Evan's there in a flash, like any father of a small child would when your spouse yells for you, sounding slightly panicked.
"What...what's wrong?"
"Look at your niece," Tommy says gently and Evan notices it faster than Tommy did because he groans.
"Jee!"
She giggles. "What, Uncle Buck, you don't like it?"
Evan sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose. "Sure sweetie, but your parents are going to kill us."
"Well, I wasn't going to tell them it was your idea," Jee says sassily and Evan narrows his eyes at her. Tommy surreptitiously looks over their daughter, who is watching with rapt attention and is relieved to see she has come out with her hair intact.
"Where are the scissors, Jee?" Tommy asks, holding a hand out. She takes them from the top of Alex's bed and hands them over.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Buck and Uncle Tommy," Jee says quietly.
Evan softens as he takes the scissors from Tommy. "We'll talk about it with your mom and dad, okay? If you'd wanted a haircut, any of us would have taken you."
Jee sighs. "I just wanted to see what it would look like."
"I know." Evan sits next to her and pulls her into a hug. "Come on, girls. Get into bed. Time for sleep, understand?"
"Yes, dad," Alex says as Jee answers, "Yes, Uncle Buck," and Evan sighs. Tommy can see he's fighting valiantly to keep from smiling.
They settle the girls in side-by-side with fresh goodnight kisses and Tommy follows Evan back out into the living room. They plop down on the couch and that's when Evan loses it.
Tommy watches him fondly as he bends over in quiet laughter.
"Oh," Evan says quietly, wiping a tear off the corner of his eye.
"She's a Buckley, all right."
"Yeah? You or Maddie?"
"Oh, both," Evan says with a shake of his head. "Maddie cut her own hair all the time."
"Sounds right," Tommy says with a laugh. "You were very good with her though. Very fatherly."
Evan tilts his head in that way that tells Tommy he's going to be a little flirt. "Yeah? I've been practicing."
Tommy leans forward for a kiss. "You're really good at it," he says again, sincerely, because he is. That had been a big thing for Evan when they'd decided to have kids; Evan was sure he'd be awful at it but his parental instincts have always been on point, parenting his own daughter over the last four years have just honed them.
Evan's face turns bashful. "Really?"
"Really."
Evan snuggles against him for a few minutes, then Tommy's stomach rumbles and Evan snorts a laugh. "Come on. I'll heat up that pizza for you and then join you in the shower."
"Sounds perfect to me."

For @this-is-bwr: Happiest of Birthdays to you!
all in the Jee-tails | Rated: T | 4531 words
“There is no magic in magic, it’s all in the details.”- Walt Disney
Okay. Just a little turn aaaand- yes. Alright, only one more to go. You got this, Buckley.
Buck watches with fascination as the sewing machine’s needle dips and resurfaces, piercing the shimmery blue fabric. A wave of satisfaction and pride washes over him when the final stitches meet seamlessly with the beginning ones. For only putting in minimal effort during Family & Consumer Sciences, he’s impressed with his handiwork. He eases his foot off the pedal and snips the thread, freeing his creation so he can try it on.
Ever since Jee watched Sleeping Beauty and Shrek for the first time she’s become obsessed with all things fantasy. Much to Maddie, Chim and Eddie’s amusement, Buck couldn’t help himself from buying her a sparkly dress (or three), as well as a tiara fit for pint-sized royalty.
He had been a little conflicted at first, between indulging his niece’s interest and fear of feeding into gender norms. His concerns turned out to be unnecessary when Maddie texted him a picture later that week, simply captioned She didn’t want to choose, so I told her she could be both. Jee wore the yellow dress, covered in flowers and iridescent ribbon, and her hot pink high top sneakers, holding up the sword and shield Buck bought at the renaissance fair last year. Maddie or Chim must have told her to make her ‘battle’ face. Her barely-there eyebrows were scrunched and her mouth was set in a grimace, showing off two perfect rows of baby teeth. She was absurdly adorable.
Of course, once she had her clothes to play dress up, she needed a fearsome beast to battle. And, well, how was Buck supposed to be an effective dragon without his own wings?
“Looks good, baby.” Buck startles at his husband’s voice, but quickly melts at the praise, smiling up from his seat at the dining room table. Eddie rests a hand on Buck’s shoulder and presses a kiss to his temple. “You’ll be the sexiest dragon at the play date.”
Buck snorts. “I haven’t even tried them on yet.”
“Better get to it then.” Eddie playfully swats his ass when he stands. “But I don’t have to see you in them to know I’m right.”
“Aww, thanks, babe.”
Buck slips his new wings on, stretching his arms to full width to make absolutely sure he got the wingspan measurements correct. He curls his wrists and swings his arms to test the elastic bands he hand-stitched on, pleased when the secure hold doesn’t budge.
“Well?”
Eddie hooks a finger in each shoulder strap, tugging Buck closer. “I think you’re gonna be Jee’s favorite uncle.”
Buck hums in response, raising one eyebrow. “At least until she knows you’re making those cinnamon muffins she loves. Then I’ll be old news.”
“Well then.” Eddie kisses Buck’s forehead. “If for some reason that happens-” another kiss to his chin, “I’ll be sure-” Eddie’s tongue traces the line of his jaw, “to show you how much I appreciate it.” A low whimper escapes when Eddie nips at Buck’s ear.
“Didn’t realize you had a monster kink, Eds.”
“Aren’t you the one always saying it’s never too late to learn new things about yourself?” Eddie captures his lips before he can answer, tracing his fingers down Buck’s sides to toy with the hem of his tee.
Even after two years of marriage, plus one year of dating, Buck still never tires of discovering new information about his husband. If he realized this was a thing Eddie might be into, he would have done it a long time ago. Athena let Buck borrow the sewing machine for this project. Maybe he’ll have to invest in one of their own.
“Are you two being gross again?”
They jump apart like middle schoolers at the sound of Chris’s voice, both of them blushing and trying to pretend they weren’t on the verge of making out in the family room.
“Sorry,” Buck mumbles at the same time Eddie says, “No.”
Their son narrows his eyes at them, folding his arms across his chest. Buck can’t help noticing how much he looks like Eddie when he does that. Eventually, Chris rolls his eyes and asks what Buck is wearing.
“Dragon wings,” Buck states with a wide grin. “For when Jee wants to play princess knight.”
“No way! That’s so cool!” Chris instantly switches from disgusted to impressed. He flicks his gaze to the table, heaped with fabric scraps and bits of thread and a tomato-shaped pincushion. “Wait. Did you make these?”
“Uh, yeah. I did, actually. I tried to find some online, but didn’t really love the options.”
Chris runs his fingers along the edges, rubbing the material between his thumb and pointer.
“If you want I could make you some of your own,” Buck offers.
“Nope,” Chris shakes his head. “You’re Jee’s favorite dragon. She has the most fun when you do it. I want to be an all powerful wizard.”
“Oh yeah?” Eddie reaches over to tousle his curls. “What are you going to do with all this mysterious power?”
“First, I would get rid of homework. Then I would cast a spell to stop Buck’s snoring.”
“I can’t say I’d argue with that,” Eddie agrees with a chuckle.
Buck shoots them both a playful half-hearted glare, even as Eddie plants a smacking kiss on his cheek. “It’s okay, sweetheart. I love you just the way you are. Even if you could wake the dead with your snores.”
“Uh huh. I’ll remember that the next time you toss and turn and steal all the covers.”
Buck turns his attention back to Christopher and his costume request. It seems simple enough. A wizard robe can’t be any more complicated than what he’s just finished. Between a few basic instructions from Athena, several hours of YouTube videos and practice stitches, it hadn’t been too difficult. And she didn’t say he needed to return the machine by a specific date.
“If you’re a dragon,” Eddie says, “and Chris is a wizard, that means I’m the brave, handsome knight, right?”
“It’s cute that you think that, Eds. Jee is the princess and the knight. But, I mean, obviously, that leaves you with an extremely important job.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows as if to say ‘out with it’.
“You get to be the damsel in distress, locked away in a tall tower.” Buck swipes his phone and measuring tape from the table, leading Chris away. “Okay, buddy. Let’s go figure out what we need to make you into a wizard.”
They make it to the hallway before Buck’s words finally sink in and Eddie calls out behind them.
“Wait. What? Absolutely not!” ******
Putting together Christopher’s ensemble does turn out to be relatively straightforward. If Buck is being honest, he’s a little envious there’s nothing he needs for himself from the fabric Chris chose. The satiny midnight blue – patterned with planets, constellations and starbursts – makes an elegant, flowy design from the tip of the hood to the billowy sleeves and near-floor length hemline.
As an extra accessory, Carla surprised him with a wand she made herself from a twig and hot glue, wound with navy and gold ribbon.
“And,” Carla says to Chris, “if you would be so kind as to give this to Miss Jee.” She hands him a second wand. This one is painted sage green, and has a glittery gold star at the top and fluttering ribbons in varying shades of pink. “Every princess needs a little something extra. Even if they already have a battle sword.”
“Thank you, Carla! She’s going to love it.”
She smiles warmly at Chris, pleased with his enthusiasm about the gifts. “Make sure your dads get plenty of pictures.”
Buck doesn’t miss the way she gives him and Eddie a pointed look.
“We will,” they promise in unison.
“Alright, boys. I have to be on my way.” She gathers Chris in a tight hug before they walk her to the door and they say their goodbyes. “Have fun today!”
Maddie and Chim are bringing Jee to the house for the afternoon while they meet with a contractor about expanding their patio. Buck didn’t give his sister much detail about their plans, but asked her to make sure his niece has all of her royal gear.
While Chris and Eddie are distracted, Buck tiptoes to the kitchen, wanting to do a final check that everything is accounted for. He blindly feels around the top of the fridge, confusion building as his fingers touch nothing but air and cool metal.
“What the-” Buck mutters to himself. “I could’ve sworn I left it–”
“Looking for this?”
He turns to see his husband wearing a shit-eating grin and holding Buck’s clipboard and checklist.
“Gotta step up your game, Buckley. This one was way too easy to find,” Eddie teases.
When it comes to clipboards, Buck is well aware of his reputation. No sooner did he move into the Diaz household, both father and son made a game of hiding them. Buck tried to change the rules by stashing them in any nook or cranny he could find. That plan backfired when Eddie and Chris quickly caught on and started seeking out his locations like a treasure hunt.
“Maybe if you just admitted how much you love seeing me with one, we wouldn’t have to play these games at all.”
Eddie’s gaze darkens as he saunters across the floor. With everything they have to do, plus Chris being somewhere close by, Buck would really like to say his dick doesn’t take notice, but that would be an outrageous lie.
“I never said I didn’t enjoy you that way,” Eddie murmurs, breath ghosting against the shell of Buck’s ear. “I just love it more when you’re wearing the whole Fire Marshal Buckley get up and begging for me to finally fuck you.”
“Eds.” Buck exhales a shaky breath, attempting to regain some sense of composure before his sister shows up. Or Chris walks in. Again.
“Until later,” Eddie gives him a chaste kiss, winking as he presses the clipboard into Buck’s hands. “I’ll give you a minute to collect yourself.”
Asshole.
“Yeah, I’ll be out in a sec,” he grumbles, adjusting his jeans and staring a hole into the checklist, tapping each item while he does a mental review.
Apple slices? Check. Capri sun? Check. Sprinkles and frosting for decorating cookies later? Check and check.
Unfortunately, the forecast has been calling for rain. He had hoped for a day at the park, but that seems unlikely. Which is why Buck has backup plans. He continues his walkthrough in the living room, checking off the stack of sheets and tablecloths to construct a perfect movie watching fort. There’s also a selection of pillows and blankets in case movie time turns to nap time. He’s just finishing up when he hears the familiar knocking.
“I’ll get it!” Chris scrambles to answer the door. The Buckley-Han clan is waiting on the other side, with Jee wriggling in Maddie’s arms the moment she sees Chris. “Hi Jee!”
Maddie sets her down and she immediately toddles to her cousin, throwing her tiny arms around his leg. “Chwispher!”
“Hey, sis. Chim.” Buck hugs Maddie, then reaches down to pick up Jee. He lifts her over his head, delighted by her squeals of laughter. “And how is my favorite girl doing?”
“I guess we’re chopped liver, huh?” He hears Chim tell Eddie.
“Oh, there’s no guessing. We definitely are,” Eddie answers. “He’s a big puddle of mush when she’s around. Like no one else exists.”
Buck chooses to ignore the commentary in favor of making Jee giggle and smile some more.
“Bag is fully stocked with snacks, spare clothes, and her stuffed shark.” Buck half-listens to his sister while Jee grabs at his hair with her tiny fingers. “As requested, we’ve got the purple and the green princess dress, plus the sword and– are you even listening?”
Eddie politely takes the diaper bag from Maddie. “Snacks, extra clothes, favorite stuffie. And all the miscellaneous things my husband made you pack. Don’t worry, I’ve got them covered.”
“Thank you.” Maddie kisses Eddie’s cheek then turns to do the same to Jee. “Bye, princess. Daddy and I will see you later. Yes, we will!”
Jee presses her lips to her palm and blows a kiss to her parents. Buck has no doubts he is the luckiest uncle on the face of the planet, if not the entire universe.
Chim says his farewells and urges Maddie back to the car, mumbling about having to finish laundry before their meeting. Which… is kinda strange. Buck hasn’t ever asked, but he’s at least 87% certain that ‘laundry’ is code for something he really never wants to think about his sister and brother-in-law doing.
“Okay,” Buck addresses the squirmy little girl in his arms. “It’s just you, me, Chris, and Uncle Eddie. What do you want to do first? We can color or make cookies or… a special surprise.”
Her mouth turns up in a smile as she claps enthusiastically. “Special s’prise.”
“I knew you had good taste, kid. Chris, you know what to do.”
Christopher merely grins and disappears to change into his robes.
Buck lowers Jee to the floor and tells her she’ll need to pick one of her fancy dresses for the surprise. Jee races to the bag, immediately pulling out the green one. Eddie makes silly faces at her, and plays peekaboo, while Buck wrestles the outfit over her wiggly body. As soon as he’s done she reaches into the main pocket for the silvery tiara, haphazardly setting it on her head.
“Sir Edmundo.” Buck deepens his voice, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous he sounds. “Send for the great and powerful wizard at once.”
“As you wish.” Eddie squares his shoulders, standing taller as he walks to the end of the hallway. Jee happily spins in place, swishing her skirt from side to side. “Princess Jee-Yun has arrived and wishes to see Christopher the Wise and Magical.”
Jee pauses her twirling when Chris emerges from his room, as if she’s uncertain what to make of the situation.
“It’s just me,” he stage-whispers as soon as he’s close enough.
She continues watching him while he kneels in front of her.
“Your highness, a gift for you.” Chris reaches into the depths of one sleeve, pulling out the wand Carla made. She takes it from him eagerly, mesmerized by the sparkles and ribbons.
Buck uses the opportunity to slip away so he can put on his wings. Jee reacted well to Chris, so he’s hoping she won’t be scared of him either. They’ve played Princess Jee: Dragon Slayer plenty of times, but she was the only one dressed up for it.
Right now Chris and Eddie are supposed to be telling her about the rumors they’ve heard involving a mysterious new dragon in the kingdom. A very tall, good natured one with shiny blue scales; and an insatiable appetite for cupcakes, juice and small children.
He can faintly make out Eddie’s voice informing Jee that only her and the wizard can capture the beast.
“Shhh. Do you hear that?” Eddie asks, pausing for effect. Buck answers by stomping in place for ten or so steps, then waits for Eddie to start talking again.
“There! I think it’s—”
Buck widens his stance, hunching over and crouching as he steps from their bedroom. He tucks his arms close to his ribs, making eye contact with Jee before he does anything else. Her eyes widen and, for a beat, he’s afraid it’s too much. But then she begins excitedly jumping up and down, pulling on Chris’s sleeves and pointing.
“Dagon! Dagon!”
“Mmmm,” Buck lets out a playful growl. He tilts his head back, dramatically sniffing at the air.  “Do I smell a tasty princess treat?” He sniffs again. “And a magical being?”
Eddie stifles a laugh, covering his mouth with one hand and shaking uncontrollably as Buck advances toward both shrieking children. The wings flutter behind him with each large, awkward step.
He’s nearly reached them when Chris holds out his wand while Jee raises hers and the pink foam shield. She strikes a fierce pose with her wand pointing out, one hot pink shoe in front of the other, an adorable scowl on her face and crown askew on her head.
“Your highness!” Chris clears his throat, flicking his gaze at Eddie then back to Buck. “We must protect the fair maiden!”
Buck nearly loses his balance as he watches Eddie sigh and curse under his breath — probably something in Spanish he hopes the kids won’t understand — stepping up on a dining room chair situated in the corner.
Eddie folds his arms across his broad chest, meekly calling out in a disturbingly high register Buck has most certainly never heard from his husband before. “Help, help! Somebody, er, save me!”
Chris positions himself protectively near Eddie’s “tower” while Jee takes the half-hearted yelps as her cue to attack. She rushes at Buck, circling his legs and passionately shaking her wand. He plays along, twitching and jerking with each flick of her hand as she chases him through the kitchen and dining room.
They pass Eddie and Chris on the return route to the living room. Buck makes a point to double back, pretending to scale the tower until Jee realizes where he is. Chris and Jee corner him like a couple of border collies, casting nonsense spells as Buck gradually crumples to the floor, closing his eyes and letting his head loll to one side.
Jee cheers, hopping up and down, her shoes thumping on the floor. Buck cracks one eye open to surreptitiously witness the celebration. He manages to meet Eddie’s gaze with an equally fond look of his own through the mayhem. Buck only looks away when he feels Jee’s tiny frame shuffling onto him, her knee narrowly missing his stomach.
“Buck. Up. Buck. Up.” She pats his chest with each syllable and grins when he opens both eyes completely, feigning surprise as if he’s just discovered her there.
“Princess Knight Jee, slayer of dragons, ruler of the Buckley-Han-dom. There is one more task to complete. Will you help me?”
“Yes!”
“Excellent! One, two, three, up-we-go.” Buck clutches her tightly while he rolls up to sit, then maneuvers to stand. He shifts her so she’s turned outward, facing Eddie. “Time to rescue our damsel in distress.”
Buck lifts her higher in a move reminiscent of the opening scene to The Lion King, passing her to Eddie.
“There’s my brave little protector.” Eddie thanks her and carefully steps down from the chair. “You and Chris fought a tough battle. What do you say we reward the warriors with a snack?”
The sight of his husband holding Jee — or doing anything with her, really — always manages to crack Buck’s heart open a little more. Eddie has shared stories from Chris’s younger years. Buck knows they didn’t get to experience most of these early moments together. To see Eddie getting something of a second chance with Jee can be the best type of overwhelming at times.
In the kitchen, Eddie straps Jee into her booster seat, entertaining her with ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’ while Buck rinses and slices enough apples for all of them. Chris retrieves two juices from the fridge for him and Jee, plus string cheese and crackers for himself.
It’s nice to finally sit down with all of them gathered around the table. Jee offers bits of her snack to share, unaware of Buck quietly replenishing her tray every time she does so.
Afterwards, Jee is ready to play again, though more quietly this time. She and Chris color pages from a Princess and the Frog coloring book, while Buck and Eddie move furniture to construct the fort in the living room. As if on cue, the sky darkens and rain plinks against the windows. They add throw pillows, couch cushions and blankets for an extra cozy atmosphere. Assuming Jee’s schedule hasn’t changed, she’ll be dozing off sometime soon.
Once they’re satisfied the fort is stable enough to occupy, Eddie retreats to the kitchen to make popcorn. Buck gathers Jee and Chris to pick what movie they’ll watch. Chris guides his younger cousin towards what he thinks she might enjoy most, steering her away from options that are too mature.
Together they choose Monsters, Inc. in time for Eddie to return with the popcorn divided into two medium-sized bowls. He flips off the main living room light once both kids are securely under the blanketed ceiling. Buck crawls in after them, followed by Eddie. It’s only then, as his wings catch against the entrance, that Buck realizes he’s still wearing them. Their nest is too small to take them off now and he’s too comfortable to leave.
Chris sprawls to one side, laying on his stomach with his chin resting in his palm. Eddie and Buck automatically settle next to each other, joined together from shoulder to ankle as they lean back to lounge against the sofa. Jee makes herself comfortable by climbing on Eddie’s lap. She hugs her shark with one arm and reaches for one of the bowls with the other.
The opening credits play, a cacophony of jazz music, doors opening and slamming shut, and fabricated screams. Jee wiggles along to the beat until it fades and the movie begins. Her snacking is abandoned by the time Sully, the big blue monster, accidentally frees the little girl, Boo. When Sully is sneaking Boo back into the factory, Buck notices the lack of movement beside him.
Jee is snuggled against Eddie’s chest, fast asleep, her shark smushed between them. Her mouth is slightly parted, but not yet drooling on his shirt. He has one arm wrapped loosely around her, his wedding ring glinting like a miniature beacon in the dim lighting. He tips his chin in the direction of a smaller blanket, just out of reach. Buck pulls it closer for him, draping it over Jee.
“Hey,” Eddie says quietly.
The chocolate brown pools of Eddie’s eyes are obscured by the screen’s glare. Even so, Buck still detects a hint of nerves in them.
“Hey, yourself. Whatcha thinking about?”
“Nothing. Just that this is a nice day. With us. And them.” Eddie pauses, briefly glancing between Chris and Jee. “Both of them.”
Buck furrows his brow and cocks his head while he lets the words sink in, turning them over to make sure he’s heard correctly. Is Eddie saying what he thinks he is? It’s not the first time they’ve had Jee at the house. However, it is the first time the topic has come up since right after they got married. “Eds, are you- do you want another kid?”
People that know them best — Hen and Karen, Bobby and Athena, May, Maddie and Chim — stopped asking ages ago if Buck and Eddie would be adding to their family. That is, if they ever asked to begin with. It’s really no one’s business but theirs.
Buck always wanted a big family with lots of kids. Then again, he’s wanted a lot over the years that always wound up paling in comparison to what he received. He adores his life with Eddie and Christopher. Every day he tries to be intentional about showing them both how grateful he is and how much he loves them. If the timing was right, and Eddie wanted to, Buck’s not opposed to the idea. He likes to think he would welcome it.
Eddie half shrugs, looking like he wishes he could take back what he said. “Possibly? I don’t know for sure. I mean I’m open to it, at least. Doesn’t hurt that she’s so fun, and gets along well with Chris.” His nervous searching gaze returns. “And I know you- at least I think you still do. Would you? Want another? Because I think I would. If that’s something you wanted. Or something you—”
Understanding suddenly washes over him, making his gut twist that Eddie even thinks this might be something Buck needs.
“Eds.” Buck cups Eddie’s cheek, sweeping his thumb over the five o’clock shadow. “I only want if we want. I love us. Me and you and Chris. Not a day goes by that I wake up wishing for more. And I’m not saying ‘never’. I just need you to know it’s not some… requirement for me. I’m not going anywhere. Ever.”
The tension seems to melt from Eddie’s body. His shoulders are no longer creeping up to his ears and the lines around his eyes and forehead soften. He leans forward, kissing Buck as soft and deep and thoroughly as he can with a sleeping toddler on his lap.
“Good,” Eddie murmurs when they separate. “I love us, too. The three of us, or if we decide to add more one day.” He presses another kiss to the tip of Buck’s nose, then his birthmark.
Buck hums appreciatively, sinking further into the little bubble they’ve created for the afternoon. Into all of the warm, fuzzy feelings he associates with home and loved and cared for and family. Eddie moves his free hand and threads their fingers together, connecting them even more. Buck breathes a content sigh, shifting so he can rest his head on Eddie’s shoulder. He closes his eyes, just for a minute, thinking he could be satisfied to spend the rest of his life here, just like this.
*****
“Evan. Hey, wake up. Just for a sec.”
“Mads?” He croaks, his tongue thick and clumsy in his mouth. The rest of the world slowly comes into focus with each blink. The television loops through all their favorite photos they use as a screensaver. Chris is still snoozing in his corner and Jee is a loose-limbed bundle sprawled across Buck and Eddie’s laps with her blanket and shark.
At some point Eddie must have fallen asleep, too. He begins to stir at the sound of them talking. “Mmph. What? Oh, hey, Maddie. Sorry, we must’ve all passed out.”
“It’s okay. Everyone must have needed it.” She peers around their fort, pausing on Buck’s wings and Chris’s outfit and Jee’s tiara that’s fallen to the floor. “Looks like it was a fun day.”
Buck smiles, still hazy and dopey and happy. “Yeah, it was. We had a great time with her. As always.”
“Good. I’m glad she wasn’t too much of a handful for you.”
“Not at all,” Eddie says quickly. “She’s welcome anytime.”
“We’ll, uh, help you gather everything together and get her to the car,” Buck offers. “Unless you want to stay for dinner?”
“Thanks, but maybe another time? Howie’s making soup and sandwiches. I’ll just take our little one and head out.”
Maddie carefully lifts Jee into her arms, kissing the top of her head and inhaling deeply. “It never gets old,” she tells them. “Like a piece of me was missing and we’re reunited.”
Buck and Eddie glance at Chris, then exchange a fond look of understanding between themselves.
“Yeah,” Buck agrees, continuing to gaze at his husband. “I know exactly what you mean.”

Sinbound- Chapter 8
Summary: Y/n spends the day with Evan and Jee-Yun; Eddie confides in someone about his drunken mistake and makes a rash decision.
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Today, Chimney and Maddie were leaving Jee-Yun with Buck today and he asked me to tag along for a little help since I had experience. With the new baby on the way I thought a refresher with young kids would do me a little good. Buck was flying around the place looking for stuff and setting up everything while I stood to the side observing him. He looked like he was in his element and I couldn’t help but feel guilty for taking these kinds of moments away from him. Buck looked over at me and noticed my expression. “What’s the matter?” “Nothing, I think it’s just the hormones.” “But?” “But, I can’t stop thinking about how I took this away from you. I should have told you about Alex sooner.” “It’s definitely the hormones because we’ve been over this a million times. Life led us down this path and now we’re on it together. So relax.” I just smiled at Buck’s response and that’s when someone knocked on the door. “Sounds like they're here.” Buck rushed to answer the door. “Hey. Is that my favorite girl?” Buck scooped Jee-Yun. “Who's that? What's uncle's name?” Maddie asked. “Buck,” replied Jee-Yun. “Look who else it is, it’s aunt y/n/n.” “Hey honey.” I waved at Jee-Yun and she gave me a shy wave back. “She's had breakfast and been changed, so you should be good till lunch..” “Yes, we've got turkey sandwich squares or organic chicken nuggets. If she goes for the nuggets, no sharing. You are on your own.” Chimney joked. “You guys must be excited, huh? Finally going house hunting?” Buck asked. “I think so, I mean, our apartment has so many memories and firsts…” “We're ready for seconds, as in a second bedroom.” Chimney interrupted. “Oh, you're sick of having the world's most adorable roommate, huh?” Buck teased. “The world's most adorable roommate has been very active lately. The terrible twos are no joke.” “Well, try telling her that.” Maddie responded. “ Oh, we'd better get moving. We've got four drive-bys, three showings, two open houses and hopefully a pear tree to fit our partridge in.” Chimney pointed out. “Are you sure that you guys are okay with her all day?” Maddie questioned. “Are you kidding me? I get to spend the whole day with my niece. I'm living the dream.” Buck said with a chuckle. “And I get a refresher on all things having to do with toddlers. So yay.” I said, nervousness setting in. “Okay we’re leaving, have fun.” Maddie said as she walked out with Chimney in tow. “Alright, what are we doing first?” I asked. “I was thinking of some light coloring followed by baby shark singing and dancing.” I laughed at his terrible attempt at a joke. Buck went to go get the crayons and coloring pages. “Okay, here we go. What are you gonna use?” He said as he pointed to the row of crayons. Jee grabbed the red crayon.  “Oh.” “This is red.” Jee babbled. Buck and I laughed at the girl’s words. Jee threw the crayon across the table causing it to roll near the island. I was about to get up and grab the crayon when Buck stopped me. “I’ll get it.” I turned to watch Buck look for the crayon and was not paying attention to Jee-Yun. “I got it.” When we both turned around Jee was making her way up the stairs. “No, no, no. Stairs are not for babies. Okay?” Buck quickly picked her up and put her back on the chair. Buck went to the living room to grab pillows while Jee and I sat around the table. “You're gonna stay right there. Okay? Don't move. I am gonna make this nice and safe. Like a good, responsible uncle.” Shortly after that, that’s when the chaos started. Jee ran Buck and I rampant by rolling out all the toilet paper, coloring on the walls, climbing under tables, and so much more. It wasn’t until she finally agreed to take a nap, that Buck and I had a moment alone. “Was it this hard with Alex, because if so I apologize for not being there but I can’t say I would have loved it.” Buck jokes. I let out a small chuckle as to not wake up Jee. “Oh no Alex is what they call a trick baby.” “What’s that?” “A baby that’s so good you get tricked into having another.” Buck laughed. “No, I'm serious. She never cried, never was sick, always slept when I wanted her too. She was perfect. It was honestly scary, I thought I broke her.” “Oh don’t worry there’s still time for that.” “Oh trust me I know.” I replied. “Let’s just hope we don’t.” “Yeah.” Buck grabbed my hand and we locked eyes for a moment. Seconds later, there was a knock on the door. Maddie and Chim were back to pick up Jee. “So how’d it go guys?” they asked. “Uh, let's just say she's not the only one who needs a nap.” Buck said. “Yeah, I am tired. I’m gonna head home and work on a few baby show things. Are you guys still coming?” “Of course we wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Maddie replied. “Buck?” “Yeah. No, of course. Everyone’s going to be there so count me as everyone.” Buck awkwardly replied. “Uhh alright. Later guys.” I grabbed my bag and made my way home. “Honey, I’m home.” I said in my most cartoon voice. “Hello Lucy.” Eddie said in his best Ricky Ricardo impression. I let out a little laugh as Eddie kissed my forehead. “How was Buck’s?” “Let’s just say I’m happy we have over 2 years to prepare for that stage. Again.” “Yeah, me too.” He joked. “Need any help with the baby shower?” “Nope. I got pretty much everything handled but when the day comes I’m gonna need a big strong man to do the labor.” “Damn, do you know any?” I swatted at his chest. “I’m serious. Can’t you pay someone to do this for you?” “I can but why would I do that when I have the best boyfriend in the whole world to do it for me.” I looked over and saw a troubled look on Eddie’s face. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing. Just thinking.” “About?” “If I told you that I would have to kill you.” He replied. He tried to make it come out as a joke but I could tell there was something weighing on him. I decided not to push it. “So what do you think of this color for the backdrop because…”
Eddie’s POV
I tried to listen to y/n’s rambling but all I could think about was what she said. The best boyfriend in the world. I definitely wasn’t that. How could I be? I cheated on her with an ex while she was pregnant with my kid and lied about it. I’m still lying about it. It’s been eating at me and I needed someone to talk to. I decided Chimney was my safest bet. Bobby would tell Athena who would tell Y/n, Hen would tell Y/n right away, Carla would lecture my ear off and then tell Y/n, and Buck was just a straight up no. Maybe if I made him promise not to tell anyone it would be okay. When I got to work I pulled Chim aside. “Hey, can I talk to you about something?”
“Oh no. Am I in trouble dad?”
“This is kind of serious Howie. I need to tell you something but I need you to promise not to tell anyone.”
“Why can’t I tell anyone?”
“Because then Y/n will know and what I’m about to tell you I don’t want her to hear from anyone except me.”
“Oh okay then. Go ahead.” He said which surprised me.
“Okay, so one night Y/n and I got into a really bad fight so I went to the bar and got some drinks. Well I ran into Ana and next thing led to another I slept with her.”
Right as I finished my sentence Chimney started to yell. “What!” He covered his ears and quickly began to talk. “Why would you tell me that? Huh?! Out of everyone in the station!”
“Will you keep it down before someone hears you? And I told you because you’re the only one that won’t go running to tell Y/n.”
“How can you tell me something like that and expect me not to say anything?”
“Because you promised and because I need advice. You’re the one that said go ahead.”
“Because I thought you were about to tell me you were proposing to Y/n or something. I didn’t think you were going to tell me you’re an adulteress”.
“What? Why would I propose we’ve only been for a few months. I just need advice on what to do?”
“Well Eddie, do you love her?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course I love her.”
“Then tell her the truth. You got a baby on the way Eddie. If she finds out any other way besides you it’s going to be bad.”
“How would I do it though? She already gave me a chance and I lied to her face. I can’t just walk up to her and say “hey remember how you told me to tell you if anything else happened? Yeah well I lied to your face about it.” I’m so screwed Chim.”
“I’m not sure how to do it since I’ve never cheated but maybe just sit her down and talk about it. I really don’t know Eddie.”
“Alright, but Chim you have to promise me you won’t tell anyone in the 118 or Y/n. Okay?”
“Of course.”
“I’m serious, Chim. I can’t risk anyone else telling her besides me.”
“I get it Eddie.”
After Chimney and I’s discussion and a long shift I had finally made it home and Y/n and the kids were in their rooms already. After showering, I slipped in the bed beside Y/n which made her stir awake. “Hey honey.” I whispered.
“Hey. How was work?”
“Work was…work..” She let out a tired laugh. “I had an idea.” She hummed a reply. “Tomorrow, I call Carla and me and you will hit the town, just the two of us.”
“More like the three of us.” She teased. Even while dead tired she somehow found a way to crack jokes. “That’d be nice Eddie. I would love to.” I leaned over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “Good night my love.”
“Good night honey.” I replied.
Y/n’s POV
The next day Eddie stuck to his word and invited Carla over so he and I could have a date night. I found the best dress I could that would fit my ever-growing stomach and Eddie and I left. He refused to tell me where we were going but it was obviously a fancy restaurant given that Eddie was dressed his best. He had a nice suit, watch, and the only cologne that didn’t mess with my nausea. When we arrived I realized it was that very nice (very expensive) restaurant that I was raving about to Eddie. “If I didn’t know any better I would think you were trying to knock me up all over again.” Eddie laughed at that, “Actually I'm just trying to take you out on a nice night. But, if whatever you want to do to me because of it I’m happy to accept.” He teased me. We walked inside and were seated at our table. Eddie and I talked throughout the night and after ordering and eating our meal, Eddie reached for my hand. I happily gave it to him and he began to talk. “I actually do have a bit of an ulterior motive for bringing you here. I know we haven't been together long, less than a year really but I can say I haven't felt this way about anyone since Shannon. After losing her, I felt like this part of my life was over, that I would never be happy with someone else, but then you walked into my life. From the moment I met you I knew you were someone special. Being with you has been a rollercoaster to put it lightly but if it means spending a lifetime with you I’d do it any day, any time, any where. I’m my best when I’m around you and the thought of not being with you kills me to even think about. What I’m trying to say is,” Eddie got up from the table walked in front of me. He got down on one knee and pulled out a ring box. “Will you do me the honor of being my wife?” By now I was a weeping mess, I don’t know if it was Eddie’s words, the pregnancy hormones, or both, but I was sobbing like a baby. “Yes. I will be your wife.” I replied. Eddie put the engagement ring on my finger and I pulled him in for a kiss. People who were watching the scene play out clapped and congratulated us on our engagement. I couldn’t wait to go home and tell Carla and the kids.

Note
your posts have officially made me fall into the Despenser Den, thanks for that <3
Oh my god, this message made me so happy :D In honor of it, here's a very long text about some interesting facts about the Despenser family, mostly about their relationship with Edward II. I already mentionned many of them throught the years but eh, now there all gonna be in one space..
Edward II's had a close bond with the Despenser family long before he started his relationship with Hugh the younger. Hugh's father (also called Hugh like pretty much every single first born males in their family) had been a good friend to Edward I and his wife Eleanor of Castile (who was fairly unpopular at court so that's interesting to me). He had therefore known Edward II since childhood and seems to have been something of a father figure to him. Not only was he present for Edward II's wedding to Isabella of France in Dover but he was also invited to share the king's personal barge when they came back to England. He was one of the only noble who supported Piers Gaveston, for which I think Edward was deeply grateful. A few years later, he was chosen to be one of baby Edward III's godfather, another sign of how close he was to the king.
Hugh the elder's wife Isabel Beauchamp appeared to have been quite a colorful caracter and a bit of a wild girl. Hugh was her second husband and she married him without the king's permission (which I always found quite baffling as there's no evidence that he would have refused for them to get married) and they were fined greatly for it. They only paid about half of this fine before being officially forgiven. Isbael ended up dying a little over twenty years before her husband and he never remaried. A certain William de Odyham also accused her of having poached bucks at Odiham park. Hugh the younger didn't appreciated de Odyham talking shit against his mother and had him removed from his position as the park keeper.
Edward II's also has a personal friendship with Hugh the elder's daughter Isabel that started long before his relationship with her brother. She married Edward's childhood friend Gilbert de Clare which appears to have helped her forge a friendship with her king. While Gilbert unfortunatly died about two years into their marriage, Isabel et Edward remained friends until his death. She was even in charge of his two young daughters household from 1324 to 1326. Interestingly enough, despite Isabella of France very clear hatred for the Despensers family in general, she didn't seems to have had any type of dislike or resentment for Isabel and she survived her family's downfall unscathed (but probably not untraumatized).
Hugh the younger's eldest son Huchon (also sometimes refered to as Hughelyn which I personally find adorable) was also the son of Eleanor de Clare, Edward II's eldest and favorite niece. They were close in age and probably had a relationship that was closer to cousins than a regular uncle and niece one. Huchon appears to have been Edward's favorite nephew. He gifted him various fancy gifts all throught his life, including lands from the age of about 9 or 10. He also started sending him on various missions when he reached teenagehood. Huchon was about 10 years old when his father started his affair with his uncle and I truly wish we knew how he felt about that because just imagine lmao.
Huchon had an extremely priviledge childhood and youth until his family eventual downfall when he was about 17 or 18 years old. He then fought on Edward II's side and held Caerphilly Castle for a while. Isabella of France, who apparently planned to have him executed (not her fairest or kindest move) tried to end the siege by offering Huchon's men pardon if they surrender on multiple occasions but they refused until they were assured that Huchon himself would not be harmed, which seems to indicate that he was more popular and probably more personable than his dad. After the brutal executions of his father and granfather and his own imprisonment, Huchon seems to have cling to the hope that Edward II might have still been alive as late 1330, which is kinda heart breaking to me.
Luckily for him, the wheel of fortune turned over again after Isabella of France lost power to her son. Edward III seems to also have been quite fond of Huchon: not only he had him freed and officially forgave him for his participation in the siege of Caerphilly Castle, he also frequently received gifts from him, was invited to most of the jousts Edward III organized and often fought at his side during the hundred years war. Edward III's relationship with the Despenser's family is quite interesting in its own right imo and I might write another post about it at some point if anyone care to read about it.
In conclusion, I warmly welcome you in the Despenser Den! We're a teeny tiny club but we have a lot of more or less ridiculous anecdotes and a lot of fun :D

Chapter XVI: how much really?
Tumblr media
Summary of series: Katie moves from Peachtree, Georgia, to L.A. with her son, Alex to start fresh after the death of her husband. When she meets Evan Buckley, a young firefighter, she falls fast but will her son be so quick to accept Evan into his life?
Summary of chapter: Maddie asks Evan to babysit but he worries about doing it on his own; Katie runs into an old friend; Hen and Karen invite everyone over to celebrate an achievement
Warning: some fluff, implied sex, more angst than I expected tbh
Author’s Note: Alrighty, I want to clear something up for those of you who have been reading the series. I’m not going to have some subplot about Katie cheating on Buck with Eddie, the reason I wanted to have that “moment” in the last chapter was so that the possibility of any “cheating subplot” was off the table. I’m going to be perfectly honest, the only series I feel like I’ve successfully concluded was a 50 chapter hockey series about Tyler Seguin -- and I just can’t bring myself to do that again, so I apologize if these last few chapters feel a little rushed but, hopefully, I can end this series with some closure and that it’s still enjoyable for everyone. I hope you enjoy this chapter! Stay golden, loves <3

Katie’s P.O.V
“Evan,” you laughed as your boyfriend paced around his apartment, “you love kids! You’re great with your niece. You’ll do fine. Maddie wouldn’t have asked if--”
“Maddie wouldn’t have asked me if someone else was available,” he interrupted, “I’m her last resort...”
“No,” you scoffed, “Evan, you’re Uncle Buck. You are never the last resort, why would you think that?”
“Because I’m not mature like literally everyone else,” he smiled, stopping in front of you finally, “I’m not a dad...” You stood up, taking a second to wrap your arms around his neck and lean up to kiss his lips gently
“You may not be anyone’s biological dad,” you said, kissing him once more, “but you’re a pretty good dad to Alex. And, believe me, I don’t let just anyone around my son. He doesn’t like everyone either”
“That’s different,” he argued and you rolled your eyes, “he just thinks of me as his friend. I’m not anything more than someone to laugh at with him”
“What’s wrong with being his friend?” you scoffed, pulling your arms away from him, “I’d much rather be his friend than the person who has to discipline him. He loves you, Evan, because of how natural you are around him, because of how much he trusts you.”
“Can’t I just be nervous for a little while?” he whined, earning a laugh from you, “I’ve never babysat an actual baby before. A kid? sure but never a baby. What if I drop her? Or have to change her diaper?”
“What’s gonna happen when you have your own kid?” you asked as you sat back down on his couch
“What?” he asked, dumbfounded at your question
“Relax,” you chuckled, “I’m not pregnant. I’m just saying, when you do finally have your own child, what’s gonna happen? Are you always going to be nervous?”
  “Yes.” He laughed, “aren’t you?”
“Yes.” You agreed with a smile, “but that’s why we have friends and family. For help. To keep us sane.”
“So I’m allowed to be stressed to look after my niece alone,” he added, “why don’t you babysit her with me?”
“I can’t, I have to work,” you sighed, “but you’ll do great.” He groaned before you got up to leave
“Hey,” he called to you just as you got to the door, “would you... ever want to have a baby with me?” You laughed before walking slowly back to him
“Maybe,” you said, kissing his cheek, “but let’s talk about that later.” He smiled at your reply, planting a kiss on your lips and pulling you close before you whined that you had to leave for work
“Why is it the one day that I have off, you have to work?” he chuckled
“That’s life, lover.” You giggled, pushing his arms away so you could leave, looking back and blowing him a kiss as you walked out the door. Work was relatively boring that day but you were trying to figure out the best way to announce Nick’s engagement so you took him out for lunch to discuss what exactly he and Amber wanted.
“Katerina?” a voice called as you and Nick waited for Amber to arrive, “Katie?” When you finally looked around to see the face that matched the voice, you practically screamed
“Sydney?” you gasped as your childhood friend outstretched her arms to give you a hug, “oh my god! What are you doing here?”
“Holiday.” she replied with a smile, asking how you were doing before moving out of the crowd around you
“I’ve been good. Busy, but good. How are you?!”
  “Good!” she exclaimed
“Katie...” you heard Amber’s voice ring out in annoyance and you were suddenly yanked away from the reunion
“I’ll be right there,” you called back, “we need to get together before you leave. How long are you here for?”
“Two weeks. I’ll call you.” She smiled as you exchanged numbers, “it is so good to see you. And to see you doing so well...” You scrunched your eyebrows at her last comment but couldn’t think too much of it
  “Who was that?” Nick asked
“A friend,” you replied, settling back into your seat, “from home.”
“Well,” Amber huffed, “deal with that on your own time. You’re here to help us.” You inhaled sharply before shaking your head and focusing your attention on them but wondering what your friend had to say. When you finally met up with Sydney, nearly a week after you ran into her, you sat across from her in silence trying to conjure up an icebreaker
“So how is Alex?” she asked
“He’s good!” you smiled, leaning forward to rest your arms on the table, “yeah he’s happy and he’s making friends, he’s doing really well”
“That’s great. I know when Jesse died, things were... tough”
“Yeah..” you sighed, “but we have each other and we’re moving forward”
“Even after the whole kidnapping thing?” she asked nonchalantly and you were forced to raise your eyebrows
“Yeah” you said simply and the silence crept back between the two of you
  “So are you seeing anyone?”
“I’m guessing you already know the answer to that,” you smirked, “but yes. His name is Evan, he’s a firefighter and he’s been so great with Alex. They really love each other”
“A firefighter huh?” she smiled, “isn’t that stressful?”
“No..” you hesitated, “I mean, yeah... but he’s incredible at what he does and he loves what he does, so a little stress isn’t bad”
“But doesn’t it worry you that it’s such a dangerous job. I mean Jesse’s job, his life, was a dangerous job..”
“Look,” you interrupted, “was losing Jesse hard? Absolutely! Can Evan be a little reckless? Yes but we both know what we’ve gotten ourselves into...”
“But how much really do you know about him?”
  “What?”
“How long have you been together?”
“Like a year and a half”
“And all you can tell me is that he’s a firefighter and he’s been so great with Alex. What else do you know about him?”
“I just told you what he did not who he is”
“Okay so...” she continued, “tell me who he is”
“He’s..” you started with hesitation but soon gushed swiftly about the man you had come to love
“So he’s always been searching for something?”
  “Isn’t everyone?”
“Not necessarily...” she said, “at least not like your boyfriend”
“Sydney...” you sighed not knowing where she was going with this
“No no, hear me out,” she added, “when we were growing up, we were searching for something, sure. Searching for a way out, a new start, a marriage, a child, whatever. But, from what you’ve told me about Evan, it sounds like he doesn’t know what he wants until he has it. So he’s constantly looking for the thing that fits”
  “Again.. aren’t we all?”
“My point is... what if he decides that you’re not the thing that fits? Or that Alex isn’t the thing that fits?”
“He’s not like that” you countered, sitting back in your seat before huffing
“But he’s been that way for as long as you’ve known him”
“No,” you corrected, “no, he was like that before I met him. He has been completely honest with me about his past and his family and everything. So, yes, he’s been searching for something but he’s found it with the 118...”
“I just want you to think about your son in all of this. It’s great that you have someone that you care about and that you seem to love but you can’t just think about you. You have a son to think about and his feelings are more important than yours.” She tried to be as gentle as possible but it was the classic Southern concern that you were so used to during your pageant days and it forced you to scoff in Sydney’s face
“I appreciate your concern, Syd,” you started, letting a smirk creep across your face, “but I know how to take care of my son. I’ve been doing just fine since the day he was born. But thank you, Sydney.” You could feel the twang in your voice fighting it’s way to your tongue to say something bitingly before you left your friend but you suppressed it as best you could, “I hope you enjoy your last week in L.A. Sydney, it was nice to see you again. We should keep in touch.” You smiled as you stood up, gathering your coat and purse before Sydney said her final words
“I’m just trying to look out for you.” And, with that, the Southern accent surfaced and you turned to her slowly, cocking your head to the side with a smirk on your face
  “Oh, bless your heart.”
xx
Evan’s P.O.V
“She was just so...” Katie started as she tried to explain what her friend had said to her, “rude but nice rude. Like Southern Rude...”
“She said she was just looking out for you right?” you tried
“She’s not looking out for me,” she scoffed, “she’s prying and trying to have something to gossip about.” You nodded as if you were truly paying attention before you had to get her focused
“We really should get going,” you said, “Hen said everyone should be there by like 6, we’re gonna be late”
“Are you trying to rush me?” she laughed and you nodded before standing up and wrapping your arms around her, kissing her nose once before you heard Alex call to the both of you
  “MOMMY! BUCK!”
“We’ll be right there, baby!” Katie called back, kissing you back and grabbing her phone so the three of you could head over to Hen’s dinner party. “So, what is Hen calling everyone over for?” Katie asked
“I don’t know,” you replied, checking in the mirror to see what Alex was doing, smiling when you noticed him playing with a toy firetruck, “she wants to tell everyone something, I guess...” She turned her body slightly to look in the backseat and smiled at Alex before outstretching her arm to play with the hair on the nape of your neck, letting her skin graze across your neck, “I love you.” You said as you placed your hand on her knee, seeing her smile out of the corner of your eye
“I love you, too.” She replied before leaning in and kissing your cheek
“MOMMY!” Alex yelled, “STAY IN YOUR SEAT! It’s not safe”
“You’re right, sweetheart,” she smirked, “I’ll sit back in my seat.” You smiled at her, looking at Alex in the rear view mirror and winking at him with a big smile on your face. When you pulled up to Hen’s house, you noticed that there wasn’t really anywhere to park so you had to drive around and park pretty far away, earning a whine from Alex for you to carry him there, “wanna carry me too?” Katie laughed and you had to shake your head but not without pecking her lips
“Maybe on the way out” you smiled, which she reciprocated and the three of you made the journey to Hen and Karen’s front door
“YOU MADE IT!” Karen exclaimed as she opened the door
“Hey,” you laughed, putting Alex down so he could run inside, “how are you?”
“I’m good!” she replied, giving Katie a hug and welcoming you both in, “how are you two?”
  “We’re good” Katie responded
“Yeah, we had to park pretty far away but, other than that, we’re great” you teased
“Well, everyone’s out back, go join the group!” She insisted and you took Katie’s hand and led her outside where you were greeted happily by everyone before everyone took a seat at the outdoor dinner table. You watched as the group laughed and enjoyed the meal before Hen eventually stood up to share the reason you were all there
“So, everyone,” Hen said, a big smile spread across her face, “I guess you’re wondering why we invited you here tonight...” The group laughed and you were the first to crack a joke
“Are we having a town hall meeting?” you laughed at your own joke, feeling Katie squeeze your leg to get you to stop
“No, I do have some news though.” Hen continued and the group leaned in to listen closer, anticipation covering the space, “I’m officially Dr. Henrietta Wilson!” Everyone gushed and cooed over Hen’s good news, rushing to her side to give her a hug or congratulate her in some way while the kids stayed put
“Congratulations Hen!” Katie smiled, giving her a hug
“Dr. Wilson, huh?” You smirked, “does this mean I can get better insurance?”
“Buck...” Maddie scoffed, rolling her eyes at you
“I’m just kidding,” you laughed, “congrats, Doc.”
“Thanks,” she smiled shyly, “but I’ll still you at work for a while. You’re not getting rid of me that easily, Buckley.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it” you joked
“Mommy,” Alex whispered, tucking himself between you and Katie, “I’m tired...” You picked him up and his head dropped instantly onto your shoulder
“We should probably get him home,” Katie smiled, “before he gets overtired and throws a tantrum.” Hen and Karen smiled as they hugged her goodbye, waving to you so you didn’t have to worry about disturbing Alex. When you got to the car, you set Alex in his car seat and buckled the seat belt, carefully so as not to wake him
“Alright, I think we’re all set.” You whispered as you gently closed the door and walked around to the front
“You’re so good with him,” Katie smiled, her body turned to you where she sat, “he loves you so much. You mean the world to him.”
“He means the world to me, too.” You replied, leaning over the centre console to give her a kiss before driving back to Katie’s house; picking Alex up from the back when you parked in front. Katie woke up Alex just enough to get him into his PJ’s and then you tucked him in while Katie stood in the doorway
“Are you staying over?” she whispered as you wrapped your arm around her waist and led her out of the room
“You want me to stay over?” you teased as you nibbled on her ear
“Yeah,” she nodded excitedly, pushing you back toward her bedroom, “I always want you to stay over.” As you continued to kiss her softly, you felt her hands drift to the hem of your shirt and the two of you were soon entangled with each other, moaning quietly into each other, “I like you being here”
“I like being here,” you smiled, “especially with you.” She smiled as she nuzzled her face into your neck
“Move in with me,” she whispered, “with us.”
  “What?” you said
“I know you like your place, I do too, but there’s more room here,” she explained with a smile, “and it would mean so much to Alex to know that you weren’t on the other side of town on your days off.”
“That’s a pretty big step, isn’t it?” you asked as Katie propped herself up on her forearm
“Yeah...” she said, “but so was meeting Alex”
“I met him first though” you smiled
“Right!” she giggled, “so the hard part is out of the way. Moving in is just... the next step”
“You sure you can handle me being here? With my hectic schedule?”
“Of course,” she smiled, “I would rather have you here after your day and know that you’re okay than have you go home alone. Especially, if you have a stressful day at work.”
  “Are you sure?” you asked
  “Yes!”
“I would love to move in with you.”
xx
Katie’s P.O.V
Asking Evan to move in had been on your mind for a while but it never felt like the right time but the more you saw him with Alex, the more you wanted to take that next step with him. After a few months, things seemed pretty normal and easy to match everyone’s schedule; Alex loved having Evan there as a surrogate dad and you loved having him there to cuddle with. Things were going well, until he started to get up to his old tricks and the fighting started
“I GET THAT IT’S YOUR JOB BUT YOU CAN’T GO RUSHING INTO BURNING BUILDINGS WITHOUT BACKUP!” you yelled, thankful that Alex was with your mom tonight
“THEY HAVE MY BACK!” he shouted back
“THEY’RE NOT THERE WITH YOU EVAN!”
“THEY KNOW WHERE I AM, WE HAVE THE WALKIES!”
“THE WALKIE THAT YOU DON’T USE!”
“IF I DON’T DO MY JOB, PEOPLE DIE”
“AND IF YOU DO YOUR JOB RECKLESSLY, YOU DIE!”
“I can’t apologize for doing my job, Katie”
“Can you at least acknowledge that you’re putting your life in danger when you don’t need to?”
“No,” he said plainly, causing you to take a step back in disbelief, “my whole job is putting my life in danger. Risking my life to save someone else’s”
“You’re not invincible Evan!” you argued, “You are not immune to death. You are not the exception. You’re human”
“I’m not saying I’m invincible!” he yelled, “I’m just saying that this is my job. This is what I’ve done since I joined the 118--”
“And look where that’s gotten you!” you interrupted
“I SAVED MY BEST FRIEND’S SON! I FOUND MY SISTER AFTER SHE HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED! I DIDN’T GIVE UP LOOKING FOR YOU AND YOUR SON!”
“Wow...” you sighed. Part of you just didn’t want to fight anymore, another part of you knew you weren’t going to win this argument or get him to see your side, but another part of you was hurt that Alex was just your son to him. “Fine, Evan. Do what you want. Save the people you want to save without thinking of yourself. I’m used to dealing with the fallout of men’s stupid, reckless decisions. I will pick up the pieces that you leave behind you. My son, on the other hand, might not. But whatever. You need to risk your life and put your life in danger because it’s what you’ve always done? Go right ahead. I can’t stop you.”
  “Katie...” he said quietly
“I can’t do this anymore, Evan. I can’t keep worrying that you won’t come home. That I’ll have to tell my son, for the second time in his life, that someone he loved has died and there was nothing I could have done to stop it.”
“That’s not going to happen” he sighed
“Are you sure?” you insisted, “because it seems like everyday, you move closer and closer to your grave.”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, walking toward you, “I didn’t mean to yell or argue or make you worry.” You scoffed before he placed his hands on your arms and gently rubbed his thumbs across your bare skin, “I love you and I love Alex and I don’t plan on leaving or dying anytime soon. This is my job and sometimes the situations can be very intense and very dangerous.”
“But can’t you just... not be so reckless?” you asked, making Evan chuckle
“I can try,” he replied, “but I can’t promise anything.” It was a start but it still made you nervous knowing that you’d have to watch him leave the house and not know if that would be the day that he wouldn’t come back.

thinking of uncle buck got me thinking thoughts and then i remembered this tiktok. so here we are .(let's say jee is a little bit older here too)
When Eddie comes back from work, he finds his house is a mess. There's toys everywhere, his living room looks more like a warzone than anything.
And in the middle of all that chaos, of course, there's the Buckleys. Buck and Jee.
Buck has tiny buns at the top of his head— or what Eddie thinks are supposed to be buns but aren't because Buck's hair was too short for that. He has blush on his cheeks, making them look a bright out of place pink. Not to mention Jee picking his eye with the make up brush and what Eddie asummes is eyeshadow.
"Jee! Be gentle, bub, or you'll leave your uncle Buck blind." Buck's laughing and closing his eyes to avoid more harm. The eyeshadow is an ugly bright green and Eddie winces but can't help the way his heart melts at the sight of Buck being so good with his niece.
"Oh. You're home." Buck turns around, lighting up and giving Eddie one of his brightest smiles. The smile that is only reserved for him, it's fond and full of adoration and Eddie wants to be the recipient of that smile for the rest of his days. "Look, Jee! Uncle Eddie's here!" Buck shakes Jee gently, making her laugh but otherwise the girl doesn't pay him much attention, too focused on painting Buck's face.
Jee's movements are uncoordinated and clumsy, Buck wincing every now and then, but he doesn't show any discomfort otherwise.
Eddie leans against the wall and just watches as Buck taps his lips so Jee would apply lip gloss. It's an endearing scene and it makes him yearn for more.
"Maybe someday Buck could do this with our daughter." He thinks, a fond, tender smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he watches his boyfriend lets the six year old give him one of the most ridiculous make up looks that Eddie's ever seen.
Buck would be an amazing dad— well, he already is to Christopher. But, yeah, Eddie wouldn't mind someone else forming part of their little family.

For the non-shipping ask meme: Ice Age, of course!
Aww thank you so much for asking! :) <3
M/F BroTP: Ellie and Diego. I really liked how DoTD gave them some scenes and an important moment together with Diego protecting her during her birth with Peaches. Diego fairly glows around the herd's mammoths, especially Manny (like he does with no one else!) and I headcanon that Ellie did try to get Diego to talk about his problems - before he decides to head out in IA3 - before defaulting to Manny since Diego is guarded with her and won't be as open like he is with her mate.
F/F BroTP: Mothers and daughters can count as a friendship, right? In that case, I love Ellie and Peaches' dynamic. Ellie is a good mother, she lets Peaches be herself but she still corrects her if necessary. Peaches as well seems to have a good relationship with her mother and it's sweet to see, becos it's always nice to see comfortable mother/daughter bonds in fiction.
M/M BroTP: Manny and Diego, of course! :) <3 For so many years now they have been my longest-adored friendship. Part of the reasons why I LOVE Manny and Diego goes back to IA1 and how they save each other virtually back-to-back in the story, and more so, are willing to risk their lives to the point of being willing to die for each other, and that just creates deep bonds and a strong friendship; this is even supported by science! I also love how pivotal Manny is to Diego's redemption arc and how he helps him grow as a character in IA1, which goes back to the whole "self-sacrifice" thing he teaches Diego as IA1's story plays out. And this is another reason why the sequels were such a disappointment to me, I was so hoping to see IA1 callbacks or inverses of IA1's ending scene with the Battle at Half Peak with Manny protecting Diego - since a tiger alone has it rough! - and that never happened, nor was their beautiful friendship explored/fleshed out as it deserved, imo … Anyway, their friendship is my favourite in many many ways I could go on and on about it tbh...
crack BroTP: Uh, I guess I would say Buck and Diego (most of these are Diego or Manny-based lol I noticed. Diego has many "circles" within the herd's dynamics because he is the glue not Sid! ;)) but it's not even really cracky becos Buck and Diego have good chemistry. Buck & Diego is also a good dynamic becos I learnt recently from the IA3 BTS - Buck is Diego's foil. He foils Diego, since he's wild and carefree, whilst Diego's heart has always belonged to the herd, even though he tries to leave it and so they have a good push and pull to their dynamic/bond with each other.
dynamic I didn’t expect to like: Hmmm... I think I am go ahead and say... Diego & Peaches! Sure, for me, it's mostly headcanons, but I remember when I heard about IA3 I didn't expect Diego's connection and chemistry with the mammoths he lives with to be explored like it was, and the fact that he was present at Peaches' birth gave me so many feels, oh my gosh, and I just fell in love with an uncle/niece dynamic btwn Diego & Peaches and it's become my second most treasured Ice Age herd family bond becos I love the idea of them being close and Peaches admiring Diego and thinking of him as something of a "second father" :) whilst he adores her wholeheartedly. It disappoints me so much still that officially we didn't get many scenes btwn them in the movies/specials to flesh out that dynamic but Peaches' relationships with her adopted uncles were so shafted and I'm still not over that ngl. :((((
dynamic I didn’t like: In all honesty, Sid and Diego.... their dynamic doesn't have the same vibe and earnestness that Manny and Diego have and Diego imo kinda always looks annoyed or bored in scenes he shares with Sid, especially in the sequels. The fact that the Sid/Diego "ship" is so popular is another reason, tbh, why I don't like this dynamic - they're suited more as brothers than a romantic ship imo. 🤷‍♀️ Heck, their entire dynamic is "little bro annoys middle bro constantly" let's be honest! Also I am aware this opinion is sure to be unpopular. 🤷‍♀️

What's your fave omega tommy headcanons?😊
Hello anon! Once again, sorry for the late reply!!!
My favorite omega Tommy headcanons are:
Tommy loves being an omega. But he is always getting mistaken for an alpha and he absolutely hates that, but he never lets these people bring him down and always promptly reminds them that he is an omega.
He is an uncle to his niece and nephew and he absolutely adores them. But he yearns to have his own baby.
As he gets older, he wonders if he will even find an alpha and if he will even get a chance to start a family.
And then he meets Buck and realizes that he can have everything he has been missing out on.
But he doesn't make it easy on Buck. He wants the alpha to court him, which Buck happily does.
He always gets him flowers, and lets Tommy borrow his clothes for his nest.
Another alpha starts courting Tommy at the same time Buck is and Buck is so jealous. Tommy just enjoys the attention.
Tommy eventually tells the other alpha that he isn't interested in them and the alpha backs down but Tommy doesn't tell Buck this and keeps teasing him.
And then Tommy goes into a heat and Buck is conflicted because he thinks the other alpha is the one Tommy is interested in, but Tommy is like "No, you idiot! It's you I want! Now help me out!"
Buck and Tommy decide that they're gonna wait to have a baby. They first wanna get to know each other well enough.
When Tommy finally gets pregnant, he finds out he's having twins, and can't believe it! He never thought he would have one kid, let alone two!
Tommy adores his kids (they're two boys). He is overly protective of them.
That's all I have for now, anon! I know you only asked for omega Tommy but I had to add alpha Buck in there as well. Sorry!

happy boopoween!! 👻🎃(word: boo!)
Happy Halloween my friend. Thank you for trick or treating with me. This one got away from me 700 words! Sorry! Also here’s your dragon. He tells me he’s the night!
Tumblr media
“BOO!”
Looking up slowly Eddie takes in the view. It really shouldn’t work but regretfully it does but not in a scary way, the ears are cute, the tail is interesting and Eddie would prefer not to think too much on that right now. The tight black t shirt and jeans are better. The whiskers are just confusing.
“Jump?”
He says it because something seems to be expected from him but cats, even Halloween ones aren’t known for their scare factor and anyway he saw him coming so he’d been prepared.
“Come on Eddie!!”
He hides his smile and swallows down the chuckle at the petulant tone and the irritated hand waving around.
“You’re supposed to be scared. I'm meant to be a scary witch's cat.”
“I got that much. Remind me why?”He pulls on his other shoe, finally ready to go home after an eventful shift.
Buck’s mouth opens but the why of it all suddenly hurtles into the locker room and flings itself at the legs of the not so scary cat in front of him. It’s a small whirl of bright colours and black. Stripy tights and a pointed hat that’s in danger of losing its owner. The visual effect of chaos is enhanced by the excited squeal of “Uncle Buck!”
The effect on the ‘cat’ is instant, Buck’s stooping down and he grabs his niece, beaming like he’s from Cheshire, lifting her into the air so she screams even louder, little legs kicking in joy.
Eddie hopes he puts his feelings back where they belong before Maddie catches up with her daughter. Judging by the look she gives him as she walks in, maybe not.
“Happy Halloween Eddie.”
Then she looks around as if she’s searching for something, “but where’s Buck? All I can see is this adorable kitty!”
She reaches up and pinches his cheek on the last word, making Buck frown and wrinkle his nose. Eddie wishes he didn’t think it was cute.
“Mamma! That’s Uncle Buck! He’s my kitty just like I asked! He’s my witch’s kitty, he’s scary.”
Buck hisses and claws the air.
“Oh yes he’s very scary.” Maddie’s smile so like Buck’s lights up her face. “You ready?”
Buck nods and puts Jee down. “Ready and willing, let’s trick or treat!”
“Uncle Eddie?”
He looks down at Jee startled, aware both the other adults are staring. It’s the first time she’s called him that, it makes his heart feel funny, ignoring that, he looks down at Maddie’s adorable daughter.
“Yes sweetheart?”
“Where’s your costume? You can’t go trick or treat without a costume.”
He looks up for help and finds none. Maddie’s smiling and Buck has his arms folded.
“Yeah Eddie, where’s your costume?”
He glares at him. “I left it at home, sorry Jee.”
“Don’t worry” she lifts the hat off her head and holds it up to him. You can borrow this and be a witch like me. I don’t mind sharing Uncle Buck with you, he likes you too.”
Eddie risks a glance at his best friend and notices he’s looking in the opposite direction. The whiskers are on cheeks just a little bit pinker than they were.
The witch is getting impatient judging by the tug on his jeans. He kneels down and she puts his hat on and looks at him, Eddie’s suddenly reminded of Chimney.
“Pretty good. Not as good as me but that’s ok.”
She holds his hand and drags him towards Buck and his sister. Jee takes Buck’s hand too and drags them both towards Maddie’s car.
It looks like he’s going trick or treating. Casting a glance over Jee’s head he whispers
“You don’t mind?”
Buck holds his eyes a moment longer than necessary and says just as quietly, “I don’t mind, always rather you were around anyway.”
There’s a pause “I like the hat, suits you.”
He laughs, “well I like the ears, you look cute.”
“Not scary?” Buck sounds a little wistful.
“Not even a bit.”
And that’s the weird thing isn’t it the way he feels about Buck isn’t scary at all. Eddie watches Buck help Jee into the car, then turns and sees Maddie watching him, watch Buck.
She lifts an eyebrow at him. “You ready?”
He looks over his shoulder before he answers, Buck’s ridiculous tail is waving from side to side, Jee is giggling at something he said or did.
Eddie returns his gaze to Maddie and nods.
“Yeah I think I am.”

Author's Note: I wrote it as bobby’s niece, it just made more sense :) hope you liked it!!
----
Evan Buckley was a pain in your ass.
He had been since the day you met him. His annoyingly attractive face, his stupid pretty blue eyes and his smile, not to mention how sweet he was. You couldn't help but hate him. Not in the typical “I hate your guts and hope you fall down a flight of stairs” way but in the “god you’re gorgeous and I want to marry you” way.
Did you plan on liking the ridiculously attractive firefighter ? Most definitely not.
Were you also planning on dating him in secret ? Also a no.
Hence why you were sitting in his jeep on a Saturday at 3 in the morning. The two of you had gone on a date to this little restaurant outside of the city but everything that could go wrong kind of did go wrong.
Buck’s shift was supposed to end at 6 but they got a call last minute so he didn’t get home until 7:30. You called to push the reservation back and when he did pick you up, you got stuck in traffic. By the time the two of you got to the restaurant, it was 8:30 and the woman said she called to see if the two of you still needed the reservation but there was no answer (she didn’t call but neither of you were in the mood to argue) - Now it's 9 pm and the two of you still haven't had dinner. Venturing down the block, there was nowhere that seemed appealing. The night really began at some random mom and pop dinner you spotted by the beach. Deciding to have your own little dinner date on the beach, it was now 9:30. Buck had a blanket in the trunk (you didn’t ask why nor did you really wanna know) and you sat on the beach and had dinner. Time flew by, it was around 1 when the two of you began wondering what time it was.
The date was now prolonged by Buck’s craving for something sweet so once again, the two of you were on a hunt but for somewhere to go. He googled the closest ice cream parlour but most places were closed, he searched until he finally found a place that was 20 minutes away. It was totally worth the drive considering it was some of the best ice cream you've had in your life. Which now brought you to 2:20 in the morning, the two of you were still sitting on the hood on his jeep, a container of half eaten ice cream between you.
Buck looked over at you, a smile on his face. “Did you have fun ? despite, you know, all the shit that went wrong ?” you chuckled, “I did.” Buck had a shift at 11 so it was time for the night to come to an end. One of his hands held yours and the other on the wheel, you were staring out the window as the breeze blew by.
“Something on your mind babe?” Buck asked you, glancing over at you as you turned towards him.
“We shouldn’t be doing this” you mumbled, you didn’t want to end things with him but that didn’t mean that you didn’t have doubts about where this relationship was going. “What do you mean ?” he asks, his eyes on the road. “I mean how long are we going to hide this from everyone ?” your eyes back out the window, Buck sighed and the conversation dropped. There were a few minutes of silence and the tension filled the car, Buck finally spoke up “you were the one that didn’t want to say anything.” his voice came off a bit harsher than you expected, letting go of his hand, your body shifted towards the door and way from him. He noticed your change in emotion and seating.
“Babe, I'm sorry. It's just that you didn’t want to say anything and it’s entirely your choice. I get it but we can figure it out. One step at a time, okay ?” Buck looks over at you when he pulls into the parking lot. “Yeah, I know. It’s fine.” leaning over the console to press a kiss to his cheek.  “Good night Buck, thank you for tonight” you give him a smile and get out of the jeep. Buck follows you, “let me walk you up,” he grabs your wrist, the two of you stopped in the middle of the parking lot. “That’s fine, I'll text you so you know I’m okay. You need to get home anyways, you have a shift and you need your sleep” shaking your head, you pull your hand away from him and head inside before he can ask again.
He was right, it was your choice not to say anything but you weren't sure how your uncle would react. This relationship wouldn't just affect your relationship with him but also his relationship with Buck. You didn’t- couldn't let Buck jeopardize his work life for his love life.
Shutting the door once you get into your apartment, you send a text to your boyfriend.
To Lover Boy Buck: I’m home, text me when you get home. Sleep well <3
From Lover Boy Buck: Just pulled in, goodnight babe
----
Athena’s birthday was on Saturday and Bobby had planned a surprise party for her. With a little help from May, things were in place.
Bobby had taken Athena out for lunch at some fancy cafe that was impossible to get into and then to see a play. While they were out, you headed over to their place to help May set up. Upon arriving, you saw that Hen was already there as was Buck.
“Good afternoon my loves!” you shout as you walk over to the kitchen. “I come with coffee” you hand a cup to May and the other to Hen, the two are thankful for the coffee as you had a shit ton of decorating to do and only a few hours to get it done. Buck leant against the wall by the kitchen entryway, “where's mine?” he asked which made you roll your eyes. “Didn’t know that you were gonna be here, no one invited you anyways.” you reply, sorting through the packages of balloons on the table, you toss one and it hits him square in the face.
“Ow!” he shouts, rubbing his cheek.
“Oh did I hurt you ?” you ask, pouting at him mockingly.
Considering the weird note that the two of you left on during your last date, plus not being able to see each other that week left things in a bit of a mess.
May and Hen exchange glances, “Buck, how about you help put up the banner in the backyard ?” she practically dragged Buck by the arm and into the yard. May was in the kitchen icing some cupcakes that she and Harry had made the night before when she called for you.
“Why don't you get along with Buck ? I don't know him all the well but he seems like a good guy” May pleads his case unintentionally.
He is a good guy
“Ever meet someone and you just don’t like them ?” you ask, she hums. “That’s me with Buck” is what came out instead.
“I get it.” she nodded, she began telling you about a guy in her chemistry class that just got on her nerves all the time. You excused yourself when the doorbell rang. Chim and Maddie had arrived right as Karen pulled into the driveway with Denny and Nia. You let everyone in and they began helping too. About an hour later, Eddie arrives with Chris and the cake. You take the cake from him so he can help Chris with his jacket.
“Buck!” you shout
“Yeah ba- yeah ?” he corrects himself last second. Your eyes widen at the word that almost slipped out of his mouth. No one seem to catch it except for Chim who gave you a weird look but you just brush it off.
“Take this, I need to change.” you hand the cake off to him and head to the bathroom to change into your dress. A few moments later, there was a knock on the bathroom door and then it opened.
“Hey! I'm chang- oh it’s just you” you mumble as he shuts the door. Buck’s back pressed up against the door. “Are you just gonna watch me or are you going to help me?” you turn, your back towards him now. Pulling your hair over your shoulder, you feel one of Buck’s hands on your waist and then the tug of the zipper.
“Must you always fight with me, y/n ?” he presses a kiss to your shoulder, his arms wrapping around your waist. “Must you always get on my nerves, Evan ?” you were looking back at him in the mirror, he flashed you a smile and nodded, a rather amused look on his face. “Yeah, it's kind of my job to irritate you” his arms loosen as you turn around to face him now, leaning back against the counter. “Well I guess then I have to fight with you” running your hand through his hair, he leans into you, his forehead against yours.
“You know, they say make love, not war” he whispers, his lips almost touching yours. A little chuckle slips past your lips, “is this your way of saying that we should stop fighting ?” you mumble as you press a kiss to his lips. Buck pulls you closer to him - which you didn’t even think was possible, “no, it’s my way of saying we should make love” he smiles against your lips as he lifts you up onto the counter and you let out an obnoxiously loud laugh. “Oops” a hand comes up to cover your mouth. Buck can't help but smile, you were adorable and all he wanted was to go out there and tell everyone that he’s in love with you, something he hadn't even told you yet, but at last, he could not.
“You’re cheesy, you know that right ?” looking up at him whilst you fiddled with the hem of his shirt. “If you want to fuck me, just say so” he tells you to which you reply “you're so vulgar Evan” while rolling your eyes.
“Oh I'll show you vulgar” he chuckles and pulls off his shirt, his hand reaching behind you to unzip your dress.
--
Buck left the bathroom first, the house had filled up within the 20 minutes the two of you were in the bathroom. He ran his hand through his hair in hopes to fix it from the tugging that just happened. As he stepped out into the backyard, his sister’s voice called out to him.
“Buck!” she walked over, “you’ve been so busy I haven't gotten a chance to say hi yet” she pulls her brother into a hug. Maddie’s face screws into a confused look. “Did you try a new body wash or something ?” she looks up at Buck, his brows furrow but he shakes his head. “Why?” he asks, “you smell like mint” she informs him.
You step out into the backyard, a tube of mint chapstick between your fingers,  being applied to your lips. Buck’s eyes were on you, watching as the tube rubbed across your lips, his mind back to those lips were moments ago. Chimney’s voice caused him to pull his eyes away from you and onto him.
“Uh why is your shirt inside out?” Chim asks him, brows raised. Buck looks down and his shirt is on inside out, “uh, I- uh I had to change.” he says, hoping they’d believe him.
“You had that shirt on when we got here.” Chim had a puzzled look on his face.
“Oh Christopher is calling for me, excuse me” Buck walks off before they could say anything. He did indeed make his way over to Eddie and Chris, you were on the other side of the backyard when your phone chimed.
From Lover Boy Buck: Couldn't you have told me my shirt was on inside out?
To Lover Boy Buck: And how was I supposed to know that ? I didn’t have time to look at you
From Lover Boy Buck: Oh really ? You had plenty of time a few minutes ago
To Lover Boy Buck: Behave.
From Lover Boy Buck: Make me.
You roll your eyes at his comment, May coming out and shouting that they just pulled in. Everyone stood by the backdoors, waiting for Athena and Bobby to come in.
Athena had a blindfold on as Bobby led her down the stairs to the backyard. “I swear if you did somethin-” he undoes the blindfold mid sentence.
“Surprise!!” everyone shouts, Athena had a huge smile on her face. She turns to Bobby, “you did all this ?” he smiles but shakes his head, “I had some help” nodding towards May, Athena walked over to her daughter to give her a hug. Bobby and Athena went around to say hello to everyone, Bobby coming over to you and Eddie, Buck and Chris were sitting beside each other. “Hey” Bobby smiled at the two of you, “hey” you smiled back before you gave him a hug.
“What do I own you for today ?” he asks you
“Nothing at all, I'm glad I could help.”
“Are you sure kid ?”
“Yeah, I'm good. I’ll let you know if I need something uncle Bobby”
He smiles and goes off to talk to Chim and Maddie. Eddie switches places with Buck, Christopher showing his father the trick that Buck just showed him. “You’re good with kids” you tell him, “yeah, I know” he replies. “You're also an arrogant asshole but perspective I suppose.” Buck chuckled at your comment, watching as you walked away.
It was a while before you sat down for dinner, you were in the house with Bobby, helping him bring stuff out while everyone got seated. When you returned, there were two seats left. One at the head of the table, which was where your uncle was currently headed, leaving you no choice but to sit beside Buck. “Pass me the green bowl ?” he asks you, “no thanks” you reply nonchalantly. Bobby gives you a look, “y/n, pass him the bowl” you sighed and handed the bowl to Buck who was snickering. It took all of you not to smack this man in front of everyone.
A hand on your upper thigh startled you, you coughed and Eddie looked at you from across the table, his brows furrowed. Your hand comes down to rest on top of Buck’s. Chris followed his father’s look over to you, “are you okay y/n?” he asked you sweetly, you smiled at him. “I’m okay buddy, thank you for asking” Buck bit the inside of his cheek, holding back a smile. Oh how he wanted to kiss you right now, but again, he couldn't really do that, could he? He settled for holding your hand under the table like teenagers for now.
----
8 o'clock and you were supposed to be there 20 minutes ago. Bobby was probably there wondering where you were. You were supposed to be having dinner with your uncle tonight to tell him about you and Buck. Buck offered to tell him but you felt like it was only right for you to tell him.
You dialled the number but it rang out. You assumed he was still driving or maybe he was ruining late too. The phone rang while you searched for something to wear. It was Bobby.
“Hey!” you answer, “I'm gonna be a little late”
“Y/n, we’re gonna have to take a rain check on dinner.” Something was wrong, you could tell from the way he answered.
“Everything okay ? Are you still at work ?”
“I’m at the hospital.”
“What? Why? Are you okay ? Is it Athena ?”
“Athena and I are fine. It’s Buck, he’s in surgery right now. I don't think I'll be leaving anything soon. I’m sorry about dinner.”
Your heart dropped when he said it was Buck.
“Did anyone tell Maddie ? Do you want me to pick her up ?”
“It's alright, Chim went and got her. You don't have to come, we’re ok-”
“I’ll be there in 10 minutes”
Grabbing the keys, you’ve never run down the stairs so fast in your life. The whole drive over, it felt like the world was moving in slow motion. He’d still be in surgery when you arrived but you needed to know what happened.
I love you Evan Buckley.
The 5 words replaying in your head over and over again. The 5 words you hadn’t gotten the chance to say to him. The team plus Maddie and Athena were in the waiting room. Bobby came over and gave you a hug, “is he okay ? Did you guys hear anything ?” you ask as you sit beside Maddie. “Not yet” Bobby returns to his seat.
“Mads, I'm sorry” you gave her a hug, she gave you a small smile. “It’s okay. Buck’ll pull through. He always does.”
--
3 hours later and still nothing, he had been in surgery 2 hours prior to you arriving, bringing it to a total of 5 hours. Athena and Bobby left for a few minutes to see if they could get an update on him. You looked around the room, Eddie was leant against the wall, his legs on the chairs in front of him, Hen stood by the window on the phone with who you assumed was Karen. Chim’s arm was wrapped around Maddie, her head resting on his shoulder.
Bobby and Athena returned telling everyone that there was no update other than he was still in surgery. Your leg bounced as you waited, Bobby rested a hand on your knee when he sat back down.
“You okay kid ?”
“Mhm hm why ?”
“You only bounce your leg when you’re nervous. You’re sure you’re okay ?”
“Yeah, I'm gonna go get some coffee” you announce as you get up. If you spent another minute in that room, you were going to combust, you couldn't take it. “Does anyone want anything ?” there were a few mumbles of no but Eddie gets up and says he’ll come with you. The two of you walk down the hallway to the other end. Slipping a bill into the machine, it buzzes and then nothing. Eddie watches as you push the button a few times. Frustrated and tired, your hand smacks against the machine. A few nurses glare in your direction.
“Hey, go get some air okay ? I’ll get the coffee and meet you outside” Eddie’s hand on your back, leading you to the doors.
“Eddie, I'm fine”
“Y/n, go. You’ve been in here for a while and honestly, I could use the air too.”
Not in the mood to protest, you step outside. It was a little past 11 now, it was dark and cold out. Your back pressed up against the brick wall, the coldness seeping through your shirt. A hand running over your face in an attempt to wake you up, you sigh as the door opens.
“Here” Eddie handed you a mug that didn’t look like it came from a machine. The mug read “#1 nurse” on it and his says “world’s best mom” your brows furrow, looking at the man standing beside you. “I sweet talked one of the nurses, it's fine. I promised to return the mugs when we're done.” he says casually, making you smile. You had always enjoyed Eddie’s company, he didn’t ask questions or poke around in your life, he just lived in the moment.
“Cute shirt” he chuckles, looking down at the blue t-shirt you had on. You hadn't realized that you left wearing it. “Oh thanks” you mumble, taking a sip of coffee. “It’s Buck’s, isn't it?” he asks, you almost choked on the coffee.
“Wha- why would you ask me that ?”
“It reeks of his cologne,” Eddie chucked. “I’ve known for months, y/n. The two of you aren't as slick as you think.”
“Who else knows ?”
“No one that I know of, Chim has an idea but he hasn't said anything”
You hummed, looking out at the parking lot in front of you. “Does Bobby know ?” Eddie’s eyes practically burn into your side.
“I was going to tell him tonight.”
Eddie’s phone buzzed before he could say anything else. “Let’s go in, the doctors are out.” Eddie followed you into the building and back into the waiting room. The doctor has just stepped in, she glanced back at you and Eddie, “Are you here for Buckley as well ?”
“Yeah, how is he?” Eddie asks, the two of you step further into the room. “He’s stable as of now, we managed to stop the bleeding. He’s asleep but he’s got a long road ahead of him.” the doctor inform everyone, you watch as Maddie lets out a sigh, her hand squeezing Chim’s. “I can take someone in, if they’d like to go in” Chim let go of Maddie’s hand as she went to follow the doctor down the hall. Eddie could sense the change in body language, you were relaxed until Maddie stepped out with the doctor. His hand rests on your back again, “let’s sit down. You can go in after” he whispered to you. To anyone else in the room, it would look like something was happening between you and Eddie but he was just comforting you. There was nothing happening.
The person you were in love with was laying in a hospital bed at the other end of the hallway.
One by one, everyone went in to see him. Chim went in first, meeting Maddie in his room. When they return, they let everyone know he’s awake. Bobby and Athena are next, they go in for a few minutes. Hen was after them, you could hear them laughing from the other end of the hallway.
It was so good to hear him laugh.
You and Eddie went in last. Eddie sat beside his bed on the chair, he and Buck having a conversation. Eddie looked over at you, you were standing by the door. “I think I'll go call Chris and let him know you’re alright” Eddie pats Buck’s shoulder before stepping out the room.
Buck’s attention was now on you. “hey you” he mumbles, trying to shift into a sitting position. “Don’t move, you’ll rip your stitches.” you take a seat where Eddie was a few moments ago. Buck’s hand reaches for yours, although he was awake, his hand felt cold. Your hand rubbed against his, his eyes on you. Neither of you say anything to the other.
“I thought I lost you for a minute there.”
“You’ll never lose me, y/n” Buck’s hand squeezes yours.
“But I almost did and I hated every minute of it.” the tears welling up by your eyes, you blink a few times to get rid of them but instead a few slip down. Buck reaches up to wipe your tears, his hand cupping your cheek.
“All of this for me ?” he teases, “there was no need to worry, you know that, right?”
“You scared me you ass, don't do that” you sniffle, your hand wrapping around his wrist.
“Y/n, I need to tell you something” his eyes were on yours, now you were worried again. “Okay, what is-”
“I love you” he blurts out.
“Oh Buck” you breathe, the soft expression on his face changes to a worried one. “Oh god, I'm sor-” your hand comes up and covers his mouth.
“I love you too” you smile at him, you can feel him smile against your hand. Moving your hand to his cheek, “you do ?” he asks, you nod. “How can I not ?” Leaning out of the chair, your lips meet his. Your hand is still cupping his face and his hand lifting off the bed to meet your waist. Shifting from the chair to the bed, you sat beside Buck, your lips still on his.
“Excuse me?” someone clears their throat, Buck pulls away to look at who's by the door. Bobby stood in the doorway, his arms folded in front of him and a rather amused Athena beside him. Buck’s eyes widen, you look over your shoulder to see your uncle standing there.
“I can explain. Bobby I-” Buck starts, but Bobby cuts him off. “It’s okay Buck, I know.” he steps into the room.
“You do?” the two of you say at the same time, both of you looking at him. Bobby nods, “I might be old - well older than you two but I’m not dumb” he chuckles, “if anything, you two are the dumb ones for thinking I wouldn't know.” he says
“I was going to tell you at dinner”
“I figured as much, I also figured you’d want to be here when Buck woke up”
“Thank you for calling” you smile at him, he gives you a nod. “Everyone is heading home, are you going to stay with him ?”
You hum, your attention back on Buck. You could hear Athena and Bobby whispering in the back and then the door shuts. Buck shifts slightly on the bed, making space for you. Laying on your side, beside him, your finger traces over the words tattooed on his forearm. The world had come to a pause finally, the things around you didn’t matter right now. Everything you cared about was beside you, the hospital wasn't the ideal place but all you cared about that he was okay.
“Tell me again” you whisper, your head on his shoulder. Buck turns his head to look at you.
“I love you y/n l/n”
“I love you Evan Buckley”
Turns out you did get to say those 5 words after all.

Note
I just. I just thought about Eddie holding baby Jee-Yun? And singing to her while she clutches at his finger with her tiny meaty baby hand??
Maybe Buck freaked out a little because she was being fussy and wouldn't settle, and its probably nothing but hey, who better to call than Eddie, who conveniently has the day off and cuts off Buck's panicked rambling with a soothing;
"Its okay, Buck. Give me ten minutes, okay? You're doing great. She's probably just restless."
Eddie gets there and sends Buck off to cook dinner or shower or take a nap, scooping Jee-Yun out of her travel crib and making sure she's changed, warm, fed and content. And its been so long since Christopher was this tiny, but holding Jee-Yun makes him think back to that tiny, wriggly little bundle in his arms for the first time, back before it all went to shit.
Eddie pacing slowly around the lower loft, singing quietly, tickling her little chin, grinning when she giggles and gurgles at him. And he can see so much of Maddie and Chimney in her already. She's got Maddie's eyes and Chimney's lopsided grin.
(And for a little crack, maybe Buck catches this scene and is so overwhelmed he just blurts out; "put a baby in me!" And Eddie is like; "... What?" 👁👄👁 Which cues a hilariously awkward but heartfelt confession of feelings on both sides.)
Hey hey! So I like I told you I started this a while ago and then got SEVERE AND DEBILITATING writers block, and it sat waiting for new life. And then 5x03 happened, so Hello, new life! I hope you love it!
With You, My Life, I Will Get Married
Warning: mild spoilers for 9-1-1 season 5 episode 3.
Chimney was out searching for Maddie.
After shifts, on weekends, whenever he had a second, he was either spending time with Jee or out searching for her mom.
In times when he was on the search everyone at the 118 was making time to watch Jee Yun. Mrs. Lee was doing what she could, but couldn't always be available, and when that happened, Jee would spend some time at Bobby and Athena's or by Hen and Karen. And when they had too much going on, or when either of the uncles felt like they weren't getting enough time with their beautiful niece, she would spend time at her Uncle Buck's or Uncle Albert's.
Uncle Buck got lucky this time.
Eight hours in and everything had gone wrong. Buck shoulders were damp with spit-up, baby drool, and snot and all Jee seemed capable of doing was crying, crying, crying.
"I'm so sorry! I don't know what I did wrong, and, and now--just, Jee, please, it's okay, I'm here--!"
She continued to yell and Buck got more and more panicked. "Your Uncle Albert's gonna be here in like 5 minutes, Jee, okay? And then, maybe, maybe he's better with you? And will make you happy, and then--Oh God, what have I done wrong--"
A knocking at the door sent him back on his feet, swaying toward the loft entrance. It opened before he could get there, however, and he stopped where he was, a furious Jee Yun screaming in his ears as Eddie Diaz, not Albert Han, walked in.
"You look like you're having fun." Eddie's eyebrow was raised and his mouth quirked in a teasing smile.
"Eddie...?" Buck's momentary shock was interrupted as Jee let out another wail. "Um, sorry, this isn't the best time at the moment, but Albert--"
"--has a date tonight and sent me as his relief." Eddie reached out and plucked Jee Yun from Buck's arms. "And you have a date with your shower and a few hours' sleep."
"I--no, it's okay, I know you just got off shift--"
"Buck." Eddie shifted Jee to one arm, and the other rested on Buck's chest, over his pattering heartbeat. He met Buck's eyes, his own calm despite the bundle of adorable chaos still screaming bloody murder into his shoulder. "Go shower."
"...Yeah, okay."
***
She truly was one of the cutest babies, even when she was liable to wake up the neighborhood with her noise, Eddie thought with a smile as he re-seated her over one shoulder and began to firmly but gently tap her back.
"Your Tio Eddie is going to assume this is a gas issue, okay, chiquita? Christopher used to have this all the time, and he would scream and cry." Eddie huffed ruefully. "I was useless at it then, but Shannon showed me what to do." He kept tapping at her back. "Good set of lungs means a healthy baby, good job, Jee. Now, let's see if we can't get this gas out of you so you can calm down and you and your Tio Buck can get some sleep, okay?"
Eddie started circling the room, the sun beginning to set as he heard he shower turn on.
"There you go, see? Your Buck is going to get all showered since you drooled all over him, and then you both can get some sleep, how's that sound?"
He was answered with a burp far louder than Jee's small body should be capable of making. Then a sweet gurgling sound as she nestled her chin into his shoulder.
"There, feel better, mi princesa?" Eddie whispered against her soft, downy hair. "When I was small and got upset, and my parents got annoyed with my sulking, they'd send me to Abuela. And she would sit me down on her lap, just like this," he sat down on Buck's couch, and settled Jee Yun against his broad chest, rubbing her small back with a large warm hand. "And she would hug me until I forgot what I was so upset about. All I could think about was the smell of her perfume and how much I wanted to be like her one day.
"Then Pepa would come out and yell at both of us that it's about damn time we came into the house, dinner doesn't make itself." Eddie laughed at the memory. Jee made a small discontented noise and Eddie stood up again, walking toward the kitchen, where he saw the half-formed works of bottle making on the counter. "Shhh, princesa, Tio Eddie's gonna make you a bottle." With Jee over his shoulder, sounding more and more on the edge of hunger-panic, Eddie quickly assembled a bottle then leaned back against the kitchen island and cradled Jee Yun in his arms, pressing the nipple to her mouth, which she accepted gratefully.
"Better, yeah? Where was I...? Oh." Eddie smiled. "Once we were inside, Pepa, Abuela and I would make arroz con leche. Abuella would wash the rice, Pepa would be tutting the whole time about too much sugar, but she would always wink at me and add just a bit more before the cinnamon." Eddie couldn't help the smile that stole over his face as he remembered Abuela's warm kitchen in her El Paso ranch house before she and Pepa relocated to LA. In winter, the windows would fog over from the heat of whatever was on the stove. When she left, a lot of Eddie's heart left with her.
"They used to sing me the song too, you know?" Jee gurgled around her dinner and Eddie smiled again. "Well, I wasn't planning to sing it, but you drive a hard bargain." Eddie's poked Jee's soft cheek with a finger and began to sing.
Arroz con leche se quiere casar con una viudita de la capital, que sepa tejer, que sepa bordar, que ponga la aguja en su campanal.
(English translation: Rice with milk (rice pudding) Wishes to get married With a little widow from the capital. Who knows how to weave (or knit), Who knows how to embroider, Who puts the church steeple in the bell tower.)
***
Eddie was no American Idol contestant, but his voice was soothing and good. Strong. Listening to him sing from his seat on the stairs, Buck almost felt like he was where Jee currently snuggled, right against Eddie's chest, as his bass voice sung the gentle Spanish lyrics, harmonized by the occasional happy noise from Jee Yun.
Yo soy la viudita la hija del rey. Me quiero casar y no sé con quien. Contigo sí, contigo no, Contigo mi vida me casaré yo.
(English translation: I am the widow The daughter of the king, I want to get married and I don’t know with whom. With you, yes. With you, no. With you, my life, I will get married.)
Buck's head knocked lightly against the banister, body relaxing. He wasn't wearing a shirt, just the softest sweatpants he owned with a towel draped over his shoulders to catch water from the mess of wet curls on his head.
Eddie's so hard on himself all the time. I don't get it. He's such a good dad.
Dazedly, Buck's eyes fixed on Eddie's mouth as he repeated the verses again. Then Eddie sighed.
"Afterward Pepa would ask me who I want to marry and Abuela would laugh at me, and I'd always complain--" Jee gurgled again. "Like that, yes. But honestly, it was nice... Even though between you and me, Pepa can't sing very well at all." Eddie's lips quirked again in a smile. "Kind of like your Uncle Buck."
Buck startled at his name and looked up at Eddie's eyes. They twinkled back at him in the dying last light of the day, Eddie's golden skin lit by the last rays of the sun. Buck felt his face heat with a blush, knew there was nothing to do about it.
"Sorry, I should've--"
"Feel better after your shower?"
Buck sighed and smiled. "Yeah. World's better." He stood, stretching out his long legs as he descended the stairs. It was full dark now, but Buck didn't feel like turning on a light. "I can take her now."
"Nope." Eddie met him midway, hand on Buck's shoulder turning him around. "You're both getting some sleep now." One hand on Buck's shoulder, the other holding a drowsy Jee Yun, Eddie guided him back up the stairs, and pressed Buck down until he was sitting on his bed.
"Eddie, are you sure--"
"Shhh." Eddie deposited Jee into Buck's arms, then sat down behind him. "You can hold her for now." Eddie's hands skimmed up Buck's warm back then pulled the towel off Buck's shoulders, laying it on top of Buck's head, where a corner flopped over his eyes.
"Eddie?"
"Hold still, Buck."
Eddie's strong hands curled into the towel and Buck's hair, rubbing vigorously to get it dry. "Seriously, anyone who has ever seen your hair at work would marvel at how different it looks before you comb and gel all the life out of it." He rubbed vigorously, and Buck felt himself relaxing back against Eddie's chest. Tomorrow, he might look back at this and feel embarrassed. He might have to apologize. Tomorrow, he would go back to hiding how much he felt for the man who was drying his hair, still absent-mindedly humming the Arroz con leche tune under his breath. But for now, Eddie was too near and too warm and too... Eddie. And Buck found that he couldn't deny himself Eddie right now.
Buck cleared his throat and made himself focus on their conversation. "I used to wear my hair naturally, but people said it looked floppy. Made me look like a puppy."
"People are stupid sometimes, Buck. You know this." Eddie's thumb traced the shell of Buck's ear. "And if you think slicking back your hair makes you look less like a puppy, you really shouldn't be bothering." He snickered as Buck tried to shoulder his chest and Jee made a noise of complaint.
"So I just look like a puppy all the time, huh?"
The towel dropped. Eddie's arms came around, holding onto Buck and Jee Yun both. "I think you're a beautiful man, Buck."
The air in Buck's chest hiccupped out of his mouth. His heart picked up speed as the places where Eddie's hands rested on his stomach seemed to heat from within. "Y... Eddie?"
"Shhh. Sleep now. Jee's asleep, but who knows for how long." Eddie's voice was gruff, embarrassed. "I'll just--"
"Stay?" It came out too high, too soft. Buck cleared his throat and tried again. "I mean, if it isn't any trouble, and--"
"I can stay." Eddie's arms tightened around Buck again and he pulled him backwards until Buck could lay out flat on his back, before pressing Buck's head down on his pillow. Then Eddie pulled Jee from Buck's arms and sat back against the headrest, legs folded together, Buck's niece cuddled again against his chest. "Sleep now."
"Okay." There was so much Buck wanted to know. To say. It all got stopped in his throat as fear tamped it all down to squirm in his chest.
"Eddie?" The word found its way out.
"Hm?"
"...Nothing."
A sigh. Then, "Come here."
Buck didn't hesitate, moving his head off the pillow and onto Eddie's lap. Eddie's spare hand found its way back into his curls and tugged lightly before stroking through them, gently, so gently.
"Sleep now."
"Okay. But," Buck's jaw cracked around a large yawn. "Before... you have to know..."
"Hm?"
"You are... so beautiful... Eddie Diaz."
Buck felt Eddie's hand tighten in his hair again, before releasing, fingers wandering down to trace his eyebrows, his nose, his lips.
"Sleep, querido."
As Buck's eyes slipped closed, and awareness almost dropped away, he swore he could feel lips press lightly right above his eye, on his birth mark.
"Contigo mi vida me casaré yo."
