I want to break this down a little!

Now, granted in 2023 this was ran by @jovenshires who is/was a popular smoshblr blog! But I think we have to consider the main audience of their blog. The voting was tagged so anyone could see it/reblog it, but thinking in terms of jovenshires audience there were a lot of Shaymien and Spommy supporters amongst the voting!

Then, just in general thinking of how the landscape of Smosh has changed between 2023 and 2024 and what dynamics cropped up. I gotta admit though I am still extremely surprised that Shaymine managed to drop from #1 to #10. Though, to be fair, Damien scaled back his time at Smosh and Shaymien content has been sparse.

I think the same thing happened with Ianthony obviously as they stopped appearing as much and the fandom presence shrunk. I gotta tell you I was sweating bullets a couple times checking the standings prior to the voting ending and Ianthony had been in the #9 spot.

I am delighted that both Trevrasha and Shayngela popped up on the list, especially Trevrasha as compared to other dynamics it feels so much smaller.

I also honestly expected with Shayne and Courtney getting married for real that they would shoot up to number one or I thought Amangela would have it. I will say that consistently throughout the voting Changela, Amangela, and Shourtney, were always very close in votes until like two weeks out from the end of voting where Changela jumped ahead by I think over 200 votes? (I'll have to check the numbers which I have an ask related to that, so it'll have the numbers in that)

I am also not surprised that 5 out of 10 of the dynamics involve Shayne! He is universally loved and plays well off of almost anyone. Much the same is for Angela who has 4 out of 10 dynamics on the list.

So, that's my little comparison and thoughts. I'd love to hear yours if you have them!

Ooh fun!

So, the Watcher part is probably pretty obvious for a MCYT blog. The reason I started really delving more into the fandom side of Hermitcraft/Life Series despite being a fan for years longer was honestly Martyn's Watcher lore for his Life Series stuff. Before that I was a fan but just a casual viewer of only a handful of CCs (Grian and Mumbo because my husband watched them, then I dragged husband into Scar, and Tango somewhere along the way kinda just became another huge pillar of my watch time)(Decked Out 2. I started watching his streams out of idle curiosity on its progress because it was this nebulous "game Tango's making" talked about by the other Hermits and I was curious about its progress and along the way my brain just latched on to Tango's sense of humor and I went "Oh. No you're my favorite actually"). But the concept of, like, Watcher!Grian and Watchers in general absolutely slaps and I love it (plus the art is always super creative). So I slapped Watcher to the front of this blog title because, well, I am a Watcher, aren't I? I watch the videos XD

The Aurora bit takes some explaining.

So my Minecraft username is MidnightAurora14 because it sounded whimsical and fantastical and pretty - and was also a username that probably wouldn't be taken XD And I figured "Oh. My Minecraft blog. It should reflect my Minecraft username"

But Aurora specifically came from my 2019 obsession with Final Fantasy XV, where all the main characters have Latin names.

I spent most of my early time in fandom writing Canon X OC fics. But as I got older, I started doing a thing where I kept telling different stories with the same OC for one character but from story to story, the other stories didn't happen, it was just another random idea, I just didn't want to make a new OC for every single random fic, so I'd use the same one over and over again.

Which is only relevant because the OC for one of the FFXV characters that I wrote was named Aurora. Because, again, all the FFXV main characters have Latin names and Aurora is Latin for Dawn. (And the main character I made her to ship with was "the sunshine one" so it felt fitting)

And even after I fell out of fandom with FFXV (still love the game despite sucking at it and the music f*^%ing slaps), I really loved the name Aurora so I just kinda kept using it XD

I also took a "Which Disney Princess are you?" quiz and got Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) after all that, and was like "oh that's a funny coincidence" (and also inaccurate... I'm more of a Rapunzel-Belle-Aurora mix, probably in that order)

So Aurora just kinda became my default username for stuff

Now, the name Rora (rather than Rory, which was going to be my intended nickname), comes from my wonderful friend @soemthingsparkly, who used it on their Tumblr post with the first art of Deepfrost for Ice Walls and I was like "This is an unexpected nickname, but I love it" and now it has stuck and now people in the Ice Walls Discord have a "RORA!" emoji to yell at me for my writing breaking their hearts or making them angry or happy or whatnot XD

For my name it was a nickname I was giving back in middleschool! One of our teacher had a system where we worked with 'wifi' eachtime we talked in class we lost a bar of the "wifi" (was a weird joke and we never held count on that) All the kids usually joked if they needed 'wifi' , they would borrow mine if they wanted to talk more. (I was incredibly shy in middle school, I only talked to like 3 people at school;^;)

They called me Ms. Wifi because of that. I just thought it would be funny if I put 'miss' instead of 'ms' because of my terrible actual wifi connection I have at home lol.

OK. Tell them. Make it a teaching moment. Everyone who's in your movement learned the background from somewhere at some point, maybe this is that point for that person. Give them a jumping off point that they can dive into later.

"Oh but I shouldn't be responsible for teaching baby -punks about the history and the how-tos and--"

OK. Then don't tell them. You don't have to be responsible for teaching people with a budding interest in your group the ins and outs and how-tos. That's fair and valid! It can be a lot of work. Someone else will handle it

"But I'm annoyed that they would try to claim to be part of/be interested in my community without knowing all the details that I know after being in it for months/years/decades, they're dumb, they're posers, they're--"

OK. Then don't engage with them, if it's that bad. Maybe someone else will come around and tell them the history, maybe they'll pick it up on their own, maybe they'll just enjoy the fashion elements for awhile.

I feel like we have a few options here. People can either talk to them, share the history, share the values, share the praxis. Or they can just chase off anyone who even thinks about dipping a toe in their community, and then wonder why it's dying off later down the line.

I dunno, maybe I'm too naive and patient or whatever. But if people are entering your -punk spaces without knowing The Rundown of what you feel they need to know, maybe being nice about it and informing people instead of immediately assuming stupidity and malicious intent could help you make a new friend. Even the loudest voices in a space had to learn from somewhere, and not everyone has the luxury of being in the space as the History was Happening--whether it's an age thing or a not being aware of the space thing. Or maybe I just don't see what the big deal is behind people hating people who like the aesthetic of something and don't know the behind the scenes history about it yet.

Because I believe in the word 'yet.' No one comes into this world knowing everything about everything, and we're all constantly learning new things. I'm not gonna degrade someone and call them a poser for not knowing what I know. Because if it were me, interested in a scene but getting chased out and called a poser? I wouldn't hit the books and study up, I'd go 'that fuckin sucks, those people sucked' and then avoid anyone and anything having to do with it.

So chase people off and call them posers if you want. But if your community starts dwindling, don't be fucking shocked.

Last Show: all 3 Seasons of Marvel's 'What if' on New Years Eve since the tidbit was with my folks for the week and i was resting up from feeling sick a few days prior XD got to Season 3 at the midnight Ball drop, so it worked out pretty well on my end XD

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: hmm, this is a tough one, since it depends what type of food we're talking about. ✨desserts wise, sweet all the way. ✨snacks are mix of sweet and savory (like i prefer sweet for popcorn with kettle corn or caramel corn, but savory for stuff like crackers/pretzels like with white cheddar cheeze-its) ✨main dish wise, mix of savory or spicy, depending on the kind of dish. served in a bowl dishes for example, i lean more a mix of both as a Southerner born and raised growing up with 'southern cold weather comfort food' like Creole dishes jambalaya and red beans & rice, as well as Texas style chili (which growing up got spicier when my dad was the one to make it as us 3 siblings got a higher spice tolerance) Also for main dish wise on the other end is, savory dishes like all day slow cooker pot roasts or shepard's pie ^^ long story short - I'm a foodie, and like little bit of everything to an extent and have tried a wide variety of ethnic style food since it's unfortunately dependent on where i am/local area is mostly tex-mex with some authentic Mexican and Asian (mostly Japanese & Chinese, with one Korean grill place) restaurants in my area (stopped having spicy food during my pregnancy and now unfortunately my spice tolerance has taken a major hit and i have to work it back up to where it was back in College😭like used to be able to eat wasabi by itself and use Sriracha with not much issue)

Relationship: Happily Married 9 years with this yr/2025's Dec being the 10 yr/1st Decade mark ^^ (married wise. been together 13 yrs since Nov 2011 ^^ - and Yes I admittedly love making both my hubby and myself 'feel old' at reminding him we're already a fair bit past the decade mark technically with marriage getting close to the decade mark due to the tidbit being close to turning 10 from being born the following year XD)

Last thing I googled: legitimately full on google searched, (& not counting typing in the name of a site in the search bar to get it pulled up from being half-assed lazy or too tired to recall the actual website's spelling/type out from google being my default/home browser XD) would have to be over the weekend looking up search/location tips for the stripeshell snail from the game Palia to get help finding it to finish one of the Vault of the Waves beach bundle XD (highly recommend Palia as a fun cozy game to play ^^)

Current Obsession: oh, geeze this one is a call out XD. um, depends what you mean by obsession i guess XD. since one of my special interests is musicals (mainly broadway, specially Hamilton, Les Mes, and Wicked ),while my current hyperfixation for musicals is sorta a musical - it's the 'Epic: The Musical' concept album series by Jorge Rivera-Herrans about Homer's “Odyssey" ^^ i have been playing the Ithaca and the Troy saga albums the most for like the past month and a half, mainly the song 'Warrior of the Mind' from the Troy saga and 'The Challenge' from the Ithaca one (i can go on about how it shows the relationship of Odysseus and Penelope as one of my favorite greatest love stories told. i mean the Oddy's old bow to shoot thru the axes challenge to the suitors with the song's line 'Cause I'd rather die, Than grow old without the best of you' ?!✨🥰🤩🤌🏼) Characters/Fandom wise, i will admit that lately it's been a bit hyperfocus with Marvel mostly XD mainly Spiderverse's Miguel, X-men (nearly of the animated series and the OG cinematic verse/Earth-10005 movies line, and a fair bit of the comics verses with some exceptions) Dr. Henry 'Hank' McCoy [I'm well aware of how far off the deep end Earth-616 Krakoa era 'Beast Prime' went off his rocker out of descending into madness post legacy virus arc], MCU/TFATWS James 'Bucky' Barnes, & MCU/Comics Dr. Stephan Strange ^^

different anon here, i came here wanting to clarify something but i saw that your reply took the words out of my mouth HAHAH it's funny seeing some of us shippers sharing the same braincells and having similar opinions. love this small community but i hope it gets bigger (wake tf up people!!! are 15 consecutive canon suspicious homoerotic chapters not enough for people on the international jjk fandom to finally start shipping them?!)

the something being that i don't sense any malicious hateful intent coming from either gojo or sukuna. this is a rare enemies/rivals trope imo. like their whole theme is about teaching love and trying to maybe come to a mutual understanding despite fate cruelly putting them on the opposite sides, as they are really just different sides of the same coin. and that's one of the many reasons why i love this pairing. it's not easy to find a non-toxic enemies/rivals dynamic portrayal in media so i'm glad that jjk is an exception.

p/s: i'm an extremely introverted person so unfortunately i won't have the social battery to continue this conversation, but thanks for reading my ask! i really want to interact more with my people bc yall are lovely and have great tastes but socializing drains me so much

YES YES ANON, they really don't hate each other at all. one thing i was thinking about is how gojo doesn't seem to think of sukuna as this malicious Evil thing that other sorcerers (rightfully) make him out to be. he... really hasn't been shown to harbor any ill feelings towards sukuna, even after all he's done.

and their fight is playful, they're playing, they're having fun, it's recreation. sure the fate of the world is at stake here, but that's not what it's about for them at all.

there's not hate, not even dislike, it's simply. well to steal canon's words. love. an overwhelming sense of pleasure, of satisfaction, of fulfillment.

and i LOVE that u mention "despite fate cruelly putting them on the opposite sides" bc YEAH YEAH, that's part of the tragedy of them. there's too many factors outside their own personal satisfaction at play.

and i think there is also a bit of a paradox in there. they're looking for someone with whom to share that solitude that comes at the lonely top. but... that's something i don't think to be possible. sure they're equals, that's the thing, but at the same time, their existences clash just by definition. bc there can't be two strongest. there can only be one.

both can't live at the same time. if one lives, the other can't live by definition.

no one understands them bc they're the strongest, but once they find someone who might be able to—and who does—dont they stop being the strongest?

Yesterday's poll decided that The Adventurer should relax by spending his afternoon shopping ..

He trots down the mossy cobblestone walkway, gazing around in awe as he approaches the central hub of the small city. Tiny shops and stalls and carts are woven through the few clusters of taller buildings, with a modest crowd bustling back and forth between them. Despite much of the land being cleared for structures and pathways, it's still lush with greenery wherever it can be, every blank stone wall or street corner dotted with trailing vines and flowering fruit trees.

After spending a good 25 minutes trying to orient himself at the city map directory, he finally finds his way onto one of the primary shopping streets, eager to spend the afternoon lazily strolling about, trying to ignore his physical aches and just take in all the sights as he hunts for interesting items....

...A few hours (and multiple snack breaks) later, the streets begin to glow with a hazy warmth as lanterns are lit, marking the nearing sunset. Possibly because of the fight yesterday, he's felt shakier, more easily startled than usual, and suddenly realizes an urgent need to be safely inside his room at the inn before nightfall. He wanted to stay out longer, see the lights and the crowds, fascinating scenes of city nightlife he's never been exposed to before.. but, his nerves are impossible to ignore.

Begrudgingly preparing to slink off towards the inn in a sweaty anxious panic, he stops in the doorway, resolving to at LEAST buy himself ONE nice item before he leaves. He doesn't have much money, sure, but it'd be a shame to simply look around all day and not get anything. All travelers need to collect their souvenirs, right? But.. What should he get?

short version is i got really into reading cool books when i was a kid and then i wanted to read other cool books but they didn't exist so i started just imagining those books and eventually i started writing them down.

longer version below the cut, if ur interested

it's been awhile but pretty sure i got into writing because i got really into reading lol. 4th grade (10 yrs old) is when i started just consuming as many books as i could get (i think something put me off when i was even younger but then i rediscovered books i liked and nothing could stop me) and i always loved imagining cool books or stories in my head (wouldn't it be so cool if i could find a book about x or with a character like y or had z in it? etc).

8th grade (13 yrs old) i think is when i started writing my own stories in spiral ring notebooks, both original stories (something about finding a magical path in the forest that led to colorful dragons i think?) and fanfiction (both my own and with a group of friends--we'd pass around the notebook and each write different parts of the fic).

while i've always had files and scrawled notes of original stuff, aside from some "poetry" i submitted to my high school literary magazine, i mostly posted/finished fanfic because it was shorter, i could get less distracted by worldbuilding, and those got views/comments which was more motivational.

i had a brief writing drought after i graduated college and my Real Job started and i was just very very busy, but i finally started posting again, but still just fanfic. i had started developing more original ideas and trying to actually write and finish some of them during this time, but did not truly consider posting any of it nor was i really making a lot of progress anyway.

then through tumblr, i stumbled upon some of the monster romance original works (@snowkissedmonsters i think was the specific writer i can remember jump starting that) and it kinda kickstart-ed the part of my brain that comes up with story ideas. and with some time, encouragement, and being possessed by the idea for "Nothing's Wrong with Dale", i started posting original works and haven't really stopped since.

i've always been interested in fantasy, sci-fi, speculative fiction etc, but more of my older ideas were YA because i was a YA (my protagonists tend to age as i did lol) and less romance focused, although many had sort of, side character love interests. i had always struggled with writing shorter stories and so i was interested in trying to really write short things both as a challenge to myself but also so i could actually frickin' finish stories that weren't fanfic. that's worked pretty well, even if i'm still not able to write one-shot original stories like some others out there.

i think i've imporoved a lot over the years and am really grateful for all the practice writing via fanfic i was able to do and am continuing to do, jsut on my other tumblrs/AO3 accounts (because i dont think there's a lot of audience overlap with this writing)

i thought you had two blogs [this one and one for art] but then i saw another blog. is it like a blog franchise?

So when I joined tumblr in the year 2011, I didn't know what fandom was. My only blog was onionjuggler, and I used it mainly to follow college and high school friends. Despite reading all of Homestuck, I remained fully unaware of fandom until 2017 when I played Mass Effect and became obsessed with a video game.

In order to not annoy the hell out of my real life friends by reblogging a thousand pictures of Shepard, I made a fandom blog. I still didn't understand fandom or even that the actual purposes of tags on tumblr was for finding fellow fans or whatever, but I was having a good time.

In the space from 2011 to 2024, all but around six of my RL friends have left tumblr, and those six probably go online like once a week. Meanwhile, my fandom habits picked up, and I made a bunch of online friends. This has had the unfortunate effect of my "main" blog being followed by like 6 people (ilu all tho), and my fandom blog having far more people I'm regularly in contact with through this site and people who follow me for whatever reason of their own.

Unfortunately, tumblr doesn't let you switch main blog vs side blog, which mean my follows, asks, and (until a couple months ago) replies all come from onionjuggler. This has confused people for seven years now. The only way to fix it is to delete the original main blog which will promote Baejax to main, and I'm unwilling to nuke onionjuggler because it is my old friends home for aging millennials.

My third blog is actually attached to a completely separate account because I realized my relationship with getting notes on my art made me feel pretty terrible, and I wanted to make it so i can't check that sort of thing on my phone AND so I couldn't compare the notes my reblogged art was getting to the art I personally made. It helped a lot. I highly recommend this for anyone having similar feelings.

Is it a franchise? Probably not. Is it a mess? Yeah. For a while I tried to keep "juggler" in the fandom blog title to make it more obvious, but people started calling me 'Jugs' and for obvious reasons I couldn't let that continue.
