I think a lot about how common it is for Raph to be the one to have direct focus put on him when Leo gets into all his near death experiences.

Like, when Leo is thrown off a building, it’s Raph who’s right there jumping after him, not even thinking about the consequences to himself when he does. When Leo almost gets skewered by the Krang, Raph’s right there to take the blow and send Leo to safety without a second thought. When Leo’s being strangled to near death, it’s a Krangified Raph doing the job, doing exactly what Raph would never, ever want to do. When Leo is telling Casey Jr to close the portal, it’s Raph who tries desperately to convince Leo otherwise.

Likewise, Leo is consistently very single minded when Raph gets forcibly separated from them. Both when in the sewers and by the Krang, Leo is dead set on finding Raph first and foremost.

I also think it’s interesting that during each of Leo’s near death experiences, the lightheartedness of his words during them goes directly hand in hand with both how close Raph is to him physically and how much danger Raph is also in in that moment. From a literal “I told you so” as Leo’s falling away from Raph to a soft joke about how “hero moves” are Raph’s style - both of these are on the more morbidly carefree side and both of these notably take Leo farther away from Raph and, in turn, have Raph not in immediate danger.

On the other side of things is the apology from Leo, heedless of the danger he himself is in as he seriously and genuinely speaks to a Krangified Raph face to face. Then there’s Leo’s freezing and desperation as Raph takes a hit meant for him and sends just Leo to safety, leaving Raph himself behind. Both of these involve much closer proximity and Raph being directly harmed - these together make Leo much more vulnerable in his words and actions, something not even the threat of death can make him.

These two care about each other so much, and they’re way too much alike for their own good.

I totally love how the movie parallels Oroku Saki and Karai with Raph and Leo respectively #there are so many parallels in general in this show+movie it makes me froth at the mouth #and because it breaks my heart - the beginning of the movie had Raph getting angry at Leo and lashing out at him #the end of the movie has the Krang very very angry at Leo and lashing out at him #both of these times has Leo ‘ruining’ a mission so…bad parallels #in the movie as well there’s a Krangified Raph who beats Leo senseless #so I have to wonder if Raph and Leo just…can’t roughhouse anymore #else Leo would flinch or Raph would be so scared to accidentally hurt Leo like he was already used to do before #then suddenly their usual dynamic of Raph never having to be softer with Leo is thrown on its head #worse is if they’re so terrified of this dynamic leaving that they power through their own sufferings to maintain it

Labor, on its own, has no inherent value. The willingness or ability to labor does not translate to virtue. It can confer financial value, since everyone should be compensated for their labor, but it absolutely does not have inherent moral value.

Disabled people are not obligated to perform for you. They are not required, morally, to break themselves in order to earn some sort of personal value and prove their "worth" to society. They do not need to exhaust every possible means of survival to warrant aid, or spend the entirety of their existence pursuing the same amount of production as others even though it takes everything they have and leaves no room for anything else. They are not obligated to push their limits.

If that pisses you off because YOU have to work to the limit, or beyond, your problem is that you are not being paid enough or you are being asked to do the work of more than one person. Not that disabled people get help for "nothing".

You deserve better, too, you lovable dingus! Every single thing that benefits disabled people will benefit you and the ones you love, either immediately, or eventually. All of it!

#when i go into a care home my disability payments stop going to me and go to the care home except for the $50/month they will let me have #that's right!#so if you're temporarily abled maybe consider that a run of bad luck is all that separates you/your loved ones from this potential future!#you're fucked if you can't labor so it's time you accept that it isn't a virtue and people who can't still deserve support because buddy #i have news for you about human minds and bodies and their relationships to accidents and illnesses and time #and pal you aren't going to like it #get uncomfortable and get to work pushing for unions that might secure you benefits #and push for things that benefit adults who have never been able to work because that's just plain the right thing to do #like UBI and an end to income caps and savings limits for disabled people #and also extremely extremely low or no taxes for the self-employed #and universal health care #and biger SSI payments #stop seeing the value of your fellow human through the lens of exploitation #stop being the eyes of capitalism and be the hands that pull others up

This specific dialogue interests me because it feels like the closest thing we get to a direct correlation between the True Ending and Loop giving up. I mean yea obviously the True Ending is literally the "TRUE ENDING" of SASASAP there was even a whole dialogue change to twohats in the latest update to super canonize it for the people who didn't get it. But the way this is phrased (as the direct progression of "something terrible" into "i'm here") makes me think that Loop waking up in that meadow again directly led into them making their second wish.

#isat spoilers #post made mostly bc this interaction is why i don't personally believe loop kept looping after true ending #i think if loop went through their 'nothing left to do in a video game' trying to do random shit until something gives phase #they did it before locking themself to the third floor #we know loop pulled some shit that siffrin never did and probably would never have ended up doing. see: mention of unfreezing claude.#leaving isabeau behind because he touched a tear one loop.#that clock dialogue that pretty much confirms loop skipped the house at least once. realistically multiple times given how muchthey remembe #abt what's happening in dormont at the time the clock displays #this is my way of saying i think the most interesting sasasap speculation comes from sasasap's precanon #rather than its postcanon #obv this is just my interpretation. but the progression i imagine in loop's loops is #normal looping. -> desperation for an out leads to wild experimentation. -> continuous failure leads to burnout #-> burnout leads to combination bullheaded inflexibility and apathy #-> leads into loop Doing Awful leads into true ending leads into despair taking over
