aug 15 - aug 27
9:47 pm written on Aug 27th.
wooooo got a lot to catch up on lets do a quick recap. i will try my best to remember! aug 15 Thursday: I believe my grandma was in town and I was preparing for her arrival. I came home around midnight after our hangout. i woke up everyone in the house, but they were most likely awake when I came home from our lovely night rendevous. we took Marcus to volleyball, got pizza, and most likely had a love session. i also sent you gametime tickets to checkout padres padres vs tigers & 42 dugg lol. we decided on padres game bc we had a lot of fun the first time :) we gonna get you that margarita cup lol! aug 16 friday: while you were at work, I spent time with my grandma all day. i took her to the store and cemetery to visit her father in law and to handle some paperwork on her plot contracts. you decided to work overtime and pull a double shift. i think Friday was a stay at home kinda day after your long shift and my day with grandma.
aug 17 saturday: we both went to work and you pulled another double shift. i think again, it was another stay at home kinda day because you were getting off at around 9pm.
aug 18 sunday: i announce it's been a month since our staycation. you reply back with, I know baby I cant wait for the next trip we take together I love you so much :) I miss you. i respond with I miss you too - emoji with puppy glossy eyes. then, you tell me to meet you at the intl bathroom to see you rq at like 530 am! we were making plans for sept. i think it was your last day of working overtime shifts so another stay at home day.
aug 19 monday: after 3 days of not seeing each other, I believe you and I crashed out and we both agreed 3 days is our max of not seeing one another for that long. we planned to have a spontaneous rendevous. we went to la jolla shores until dusk. once it got dark, then we headed to ob for some luigis pizza. after luigi;s we went to sunset cliffs to make some love. i think I only got like 1 hour of sleep and I'm pretty sure I was late to work but I had fun and no regrets! i would do it again to spend another night with you.
aug 20 tuesday: we went to work and later in the evening we took marcus to volleyball.
aug 21 Wednesday: I dropped my mother and her BFF at the airport and we met up later in the evening most likely to get something to eat.
aug 22 thursday: our days off. i met your granddad in the afternoon, got thai food, and watched you play video games before we all left to take Marcus to volleyball early for once! i think i left after volleyball bc of trooper. omg bby we made love in your bed and I didn't finish so i was very feral for you.
aug 23 Friday: 3am i wanted you i needed you!!! made it to your house at 4am and we parked on the dark street. my car battery died so...triple a came and now I'm with you for 3 years. we est. Our relationship is now measured in car batteries. finally before 730 traffic got worse, I did make it home safely and you and I were knocked out! originally we were supposed to have brunch before noon but we didn't wake up until like afternoon. we went to the purple mint vegan asian food filet mignon and kung pao chicken. then you went to the beach to hangout with friends to plan jasmine 21st birthday.
aug 24 Saturday: 0824 Kobe day. we went to olive garden and ordered alfredo pasta lol. after olive garden we went to target to buy milk then went home.
aug 25 sunday: we went to your theaters to watch strange darling! we snuck in snacks from Walmart and wrapped them up in your tortilla blanket lol.
aug 26 monday: we didn't see each other bc I had to pick up my mother and her BFF from the airport and i was cleaning the house before their arrival.
aug 27th: we went to chopsticks and feng cha then departed ways so you can attend jasmine's birthday at the bar and coin-op :)
aug 28, 29, 30 - I will be in Hawaii so I will not see you but we will talk. i am grateful for you willing to pick me up and drop me off at the airport :) I cannot wait to see you again by.
i will miss you always and will think of you all the time. i love you, honestly. i will say this again, I really have never felt this way for anyone before. i hope we last for ever, a life time, a long time. thank you for being my sweet man. i am so truly lucky to have you!
our bookclub Sad Freaks review: your enjoying powerless bc its giving hunger game vibes but with magic powers. you're enjoying paedyn's chapters over kai's bc we both agree kai is downbad for pae and pae is talking real shit about survival in the competitions. I'm living for the sassy dialogue between both characters. at this point, we are about 25% into the book.
goodnight my lover I love you and I miss you. aug 27 10:29pm

Ep. 9 was not what I was expecting after Ep.8 but this writer is known to do that so I’m surprised, I’m surprised at the fact lol
Wooooo lord.. Today’s episode was a ride. As much as I love the roller coaster of emotions I went through because of Yeonsoo and Woong. The only thing that has been stuck in my head is Woong’s past.
Interestingly in the articles released before Ep. 9 kept emphasizing on how starting now, as viewers we are entering Part 2 of the story. This absolutely makes sense because now it’s the start of [in a way] Yeonsoo’s turn to hold on and grab onto Woong like he did in the first 8 episodes.
The articles also emphasized on how we’re gonna start looking into the families of the main characters. Also, if you’re on twitter, kfans made note of the character introduction of Woong’s mother. In her bio, the last couple sentences said, “She just wants Woong to grow up happy and healthy. Despite being a bright and a warm-hearted child, he has baggage from his past pains”. This sounds like we’re gonna start looking into Woong and his childhood. The episode also showed [briefly] how his insomnia and having nightmares is somewhat connected to his childhood. So many kfans believe he’s adopted because he was abandoned as a child on the street. Which in a way would explain how he hates being abandoned.
Anyways, I don’t know about you guys but as loving as his parents are, I have always felt that Woong and his parents had a somewhat close yet not that close relationship. So I have a feeling something huge happened to Woong during his childhood for him to not want to start anything due to the idea of being abandoned again from the people he loves. Throughout episodes 1-8, Woong constantly says the word “버리지마" or “넌 꼭 힘들 때 나부터 버리더라” or “내가 그렇게 버리기 쉬운 거냐?” If you notice, he constantly repeats the same word over and over again “버리기" which means abandoned/throw away. I am guessing this plays into why he doesn’t/can’t be with a Yeonsoo (though that kiss becomes meaningless Woong, why did you kiss her if you were gonna pull this shit). When Yeonsoo broke up with him last time, she mentioned how he was the only thing she can throw away “내가 버릴수 있는 거 너 밖에 없어" notice how that word keeps popping up into their conversations? I really hope we dive into this tomorrow. I can’t stand the idea of keeping this storyline open until the end. Woong needs to recover from past pains for him to even start thinking about his future with the people around him. [P.S. this is probably why he didnt wanna go abroad for 2 years because he hates the idea of being alone ): ]
I am excited to see what’s gonna happen in Ep. 10. I noticed the Tuesdays episodes are always better than the Monday ones. Anyways thoughts anyone? I would love to hear your thoughts about my post lol

SUMMER BURN: starring Bill Skarsgard as Brian Chapter 2
Warnings: attacker play(?), heavy flirtation
@dragsraksllib @super-pink-a-palouza @grandpa-sweaters
read Ch 1 first
Tumblr media
“Did you scare another hottie away?” Jess smirked.
I rolled my eyes turning away from her.
Jess sat down at the bar. All she had to do is bat her eyes at the bar tender for him to come right over to her with a big mischievous grin. She ordered bloody Maries for her and the other girls leaving me out since I obviously was not talking to her. In her mind it was all over some random guy. For me, it was because I had enough of her so-called jokes.
“Tell us about the guy you met?” Melissa and Tami asked me in unison as Jess flirted with the bar tender.
I laughed. “He was the same guy we saw on the beach. His name is Brian. He is kind of scary. In a good way. You know? Like give me shivers. The beard and hair were part of his job. Maybe an investigator or something. He didn’t tell me.”
“That is weird.” Melissa pointed out. “Maybe he disguises himself so he can stalk his prey?”
“People do get paid good money to be hired killers.” Tami chimed in.
The three of us laughed drawing the attention of Jess. “So, what is so funny?”
“We were just trying to figure out what the guy on the beach does for a living.” Tami giggled.
“We decided professional killer since his hair and beard were fake,” Mellissa was laughing.
“What the hell?” Jess glared at them. “How did you find out it was fake?”
“He was the same guy I was talking to when you walked up.” Then I warned her jokingly. “If he is a psychopath or killer for hire you better watch out and maybe the bar tender should to.” Then I laughed along with Tami and Melissa about the absurdity of the thought.
The bar tender whispered to Jess as his replacement for the afternoon arrived. She nodded in agreement. “This whole vibe.” She waved her hand over us. “Is a little twisted for my taste.” The bar tender took her hand. She walked off with him. “Maybe I will see you crazy girls at the bonfire or perhaps not.”
“I think she is the crazy one.” Melissa said when Jess was far enough away. “I can’t believe she ditched us on girls day again. So, what should we do next?” She looked to me for guidance because when Jess was gone Melissa and Tami thought of me as their leader to find the next fun thing to do.
Tami chimed in. “No pressure but there is 5 hours before we need to get ready for the bonfire. You are so good at picking fun things to do.”
No pressure my ass, I thought. “We finish these drinks and swim. Then go skating on the board walk for a while. I think I saw an outdoor seafood restaurant. You know what today is don’t you?
“Taco Tuesday!” They yelled with great glee.
While frolicking in the surf; when skating down the board walk; even at lunch I couldn’t push the feeling away that I was being watched by eyes unseen. I tried to shrug it off. I even told the girls, “I think Jess is watching us after her date was a bust, but she is too afraid to join in the fun I created so let’s just have more fun to show her we don’t always need her.”
They nodded and the three of us let out a loud “Wooooo” as we clinked pina coladas. After lunch I suggested they head back to the hotel. I would return the skates, then meet them at the hotel. “Jess will more than likely be there around the same time since she is stalking us.”
They agreed.
When I got back to the room that had two queen beds and a pullout couch looking out on the ocean from the 10th floor, Tami and Melissa informed me Jess never came back. There was not even a sign of her coming back to change for the bonfire. She would still be in her little bikini with the terry cloth jumper over it unless the bar tender bought her a new dress and under garments which has happened before.
“Well, I guess we have fun without her until she joins us later.” I shrugged smirking matter-of-factly. “She has ditches us for a guy before. She will have to come back for her belongings before we check out.”
They seemed a little more worried than I but agreed with everything I said. They were followers like that. They did not want to lose another group member by speaking up about their concerns. It was their flaw to bare.
It was a perfect night for a bon fire. Just a little chill to the air. I wore a wrap around my shoulder with my white multi-colored flower sundress. My hair in a ponytail with a hot pink ribbon around it. I topped off the look with white wedges and red cherry lip stick instead of the pink I was wearing during the day. The dress fit me nicely if I do say so myself. It fit my curves making my cleavage pop. The girls wore similar outfits. We were roasting marshmellows when surprise guests showed up.
“Well, isn’t it the most beautiful girl on the beach.” A male voice quipped.
“No, No, No.” The other spoke boastfully. “My girl is the most beautiful girl on the beach.”
Tami jumped excited to see her boyfriend. “Peter, you’re here!”
Mellissa followed suit jumping on her man as he chuckled struggling to hold her so quickly. “Brad, you know it is supposed to be girls night.” She bopped him on the nose with the tip of her finger. “But I guess I will forgive you this time.”
“We were not looking for you, I promise.” Brad kissed Mellissa’s nose.
“Yeah, we were having a guys night and just wondered down to the bon fire with a bag of smore stuff but if you want us to leave...”
“No, give up the chocolate.” Melissa grabbed for it as her boyfriend held it up out of her reach
I mumbled. “There goes girls night.” Popped a cooled half burnt marshmallow in my mouth and got up.
“Uh hey there you.” Peter nodded his chin for a hello. My friends' boyfriends hadn’t bothered learning my name even after I dated some of their cousins. I barely cared. They would not last. They didn’t even call Tami and Melissa by their names. Again, I assumed it was low IQ and not planning on sticking around long. “Sorry, we didn’t bring a third for you.”
“For your information I do have a date tonight.” I walked off down the beach after that. “They were so annoying assuming I would never find anyone on my own.” I grumbled as I walked.
The sparkling sand was cool at night, so I took off my shoes off to carry as I toed the sand down towards the edge of the ocean.  Part of me wanted to keep walking into the waves that now crashed on my feet. But I am startled when a large hand grabs mine. So much that I jump turning quickly. “Oh, you startled me.”
I looked up with a smile to Brian, my hand still on his chest since I planned to try to push my possible attacker away.
“Sorry, I startled you.” He took my hand kissing the top gently. “Forgive me?” His big green eyes begged forgiveness perhaps more than his words. “I was worried for you when I saw you walking along the water alone.”
“I can take care of myself in the dark.” I smirked. “You were a half a second from getting my shoes smacked across your face.”
He lifted a eyebrow in question. “Is that so? What if your attacker did this?” He grabbed both my wrist tightly and swept me to the ground in a blink of an eye. “Now what do you do?”
My body pinned under the heat of his body. Arms pinned above my head. The sand rough under me. “I don’t know whether to kiss you right now or knee you in the balls like I would a true attacker.”
Brian grinned as he looked down at me. He loosened his grip on my wrists. His eyes piecing mine. “I left you that move like most would, to see if you would go for it.”
“I would.” I murmured as I pulled my hands free catching him off-guard, I flipped him on his back pinning his wrists legs wrapped around his to keep him bound to my will now. The surprise in his big eyes was perfect. “Or I could do this if they were dumb enough to loosen their grip on my wrists.”
He chuckled laying there without a struggle. “My next question is, do you still want to kiss me?”
My answer came when my lips bushed against his. That is when he struggled to get his hands free. I was using all my strength to hold them.
“Please.” He murmured between light kisses. His nose nuzzling mine playfully. “I want to run my hands alone your back to....”
“To get the upper hand?” You giggled nuzzling his nose back before kissing him more deeply.
“I surrender.” He sang breathlessly. “You win. I tap out. Game over.”
I stood doing a little victory dance shimmying and shaking my hips. Brian stood up behind me like a tower brushing the sand off him. Then grab my hips slowly sliding his body closer behind me. He started kissing my neckline. I stopped swaying with a audible “mmmm”.and took a deep breath.
“I thought you were the shy girl when your friend needed to encourage you to do more than just stare at me. But you are so much more than that little lady. You have hidden skills.”
“I’m only shy before I meet new people.” You smiled looking up at him very comfortable leaning against his body. “My skills come out when I need them without a thought. Did I hurt you?”
“No, it was hot as fuck.” He blurted. “Sorry, I don’t usually throw around F-bombs on first dates. What do you want to do tonight? I take it you are to mature for the collage drunks burning themselves on smores.” He spins yu away from  him.
You spin back to him laughing. “There is no way I want to join them. It's never my scene but I usually make sure my drunk friends get home or in this case back to the hotel. Their boyfriends showed up so they can just sleep together on the beach if that is how their night ends. Their loyalties are always fickle.”
“If you are hungry, I know a place that is more for polite young adults instead of heathens.” He suggested as you walked down the beach. “Are you game?”
“That sound like a great change of pace.” You looped your hand threw his.
He gave it light squeeze while leading you off the beach to the main strip parking area. He opened the trunk of his SUV with just his toe under the bumper. “You look perfect, but I need a suit to get in this place I want to take you. The condo I am at is sever miles off the strip. I think you are staying closer. Can I just change there?”
“Oh, so this is how you get me to take you upstair?” I smirked playfully.
“Not yet.” Brian winked. “I actually enjoy the art of getting to know people once in a while. If you are uncomfortable, we can go back to my place so I can change. I rather not do that without you and travel all the way back here to pick you up. Restaurant would be closed by then.”
I thought he had a good answer for everything. “You can change at our messy hotel room. Come on.” You grabbed the suit covered in plastic on a hanger neatly so he would follow, after shutting his SUV trunk. He did.
You opened the door without looking around letting him in first. “I warn you it was a mess.”
“It's not that bad for four girls staying here.” He looked around. “Bathroom for me to change?”
I finally really looked at the place. All Jess’ things were gone and the clothes that were tossed all over the room were on all the beds but mine. Any sign of Jess was gone. I thought, Did she really ditch a girls weekend to run off with some bar tender?

Thank you all so so much for all the birthday love!  My entire life I couldn’t wait to grow older and I’m so very happy to be comfortably snug in the middle of my 30s.  I really do feel like I’m in the prime of my life.  I’m happy with my relationship and station in life, I am pleased with my style/fashion choices as of late, I finally grew out my nails for only the second or third time in my entire life, I’m busier than ever but succeeding relatively well at things, I have a fancy new car that I’m thoroughly enjoying, all in all things are going very well for me *knock on wood.*
Growing up I used to play my parents’ records all the time and I even told them that when they die I get their collection but I decided this year to seize the opportunity for people to buy me gifts and asked for what I wanted.  Kevin got me this really cool all-in-one player (vinyl, cassette, CD, radio, bluetooth speaker) for my birthday and his mom gifted me some records I picked out.  I’ve had a blast listening to music in a new way the past few days and am enjoying integrating music into my life more than it already is.
My birthday dinner included going out to Mexican food with Kevin and the neighbor friends.  It was so fun!  While I see them all the time due to my walks and volleyball, the four of us haven’t all hung out too often so it was nice to hang out.  Obviously diets don’t exist on my birthday so we ordered a plate of guac, salsa and chips for the table while I enjoyed a mango margarita and the Holy Moly Burrito.  I am extremely satisfied with my choices!!  Instead of dessert at the restaurant we strolled down the street and each got a cup of frozen yogurt.  I mainly just ate the toppings off my bowl because, let’s be honest, that’s the best part.
I’m pleased to see my weight hasn’t gone berserk despite my shift off keto Tuesday night and that I’m holding strong to the 210/209 range.  Kevin and I are going out for drinks and dinner with his classmates tomorrow after work so hopefully I’m able to rein it in after that.  As much as I’d love to get closer to 199 I’m overall really satisfied with my body and am enjoying being social while not completely sacrificing my weight loss goals.
@morningcalmketo and @zerocarb tagged me in the lock screen, home screen, last song listened to challenge.  At the time of the tag, the last song I listened to was “Meet Me In the City” by the Black Keys as I have that Pandora station on pretty much nonstop.  I’m behind the ball on responding to this and I’ve sucked at keeping up on my dash so I have no idea who’s already participated so I’ll tag...  @orange-slice-paradise, @c00kandtell and @bettykthe21stcenturypinup!
I had volleyball last night (we lost all six games - wooooo) but our games played at 9:20 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. which means I didn’t get to bed until 1 a.m.  I am so beyond tired today!  BUT, off I go to put my shoes on to go on my weekly neighbor walk.  Can’t wait to come home and crash hard!
Happy Friday eve!!

When Dodger Begins To Love
Pairing/Characters: Chris Evans x Reader, Dodger the Doggooooooo Warnings: swearing, this is just fluff basically Summary: The times where Dodger became close to you and the time Chris realised he loved you.   Word Count: 2.2k+ A/N: I thought this was a cute idea but I don’t think I delivered it very well! I woke up from sleeping bc I dreamt the ending lmao! Happy 1 Year to this blog and to me reaching 2.5k! Wooooo! Thank you everyoneeeee <3
Tumblr media
You’d met many times before and you would consider him a friend, you and Chris. No conversation was ever dry or boring, everything felt so comfortable. Every time you would talk, the exchange would end in laughs. You’d met through mutual friends like Sebastian and events like parties. Of course, every time, you were seeing someone and so was he.
When you had landed the role of a new movie starring yourself and your dear friend, Chris, you were more than psyched to actually get to know him better. While on set, you had learned a lot of what he loved. For example, he loved to play piano (although he believed he was terrible, in which you would always argue with him that he was amazing), his love for the New England Patriots was endless but it would never succeed his love for his dog, Dodger. Dodger, the lover of other dogs and his little stuffed lion, had Chris wrapped around his paw.
Chris finally came around to inviting you to dinner at his house after months and long hours of shooting scenes. As soon as you entered the house, you were jumped by the not so little puppy as Chris had described. You didn’t complain, you just laughed and returned the love to Dodger, accepting the licks on your face.
“Oh, hello there.” You laughed,
“C’mon, little guy, get down!” You patted the dog’s head and he jumped down from you, pouncing around you in excitement,
“He’s a lot bigger than I expected! You described him much smaller.” Dodger trailed behind you as you entered the kitchen and helping Chris with dinner.
It wasn’t too long after when Chris found out you had adopted a dog too. You were moving into your new house, so much closer to your job and you didn’t have to fly out and rent a place every time you had a new show or a new movie in Los Angeles. The weather was better too and your newly added best friend, Missy, a Jack Russell Terrier, loved the heat and the days where she could play in the park. Chris helped you move into your new place, not too far from his own, Dodger by his side and Missy right by yours.
“What made you move from NYC?” Chris asks while grabbing a box from the moving van, he had suggested that you get someone else to do all the moving in for you, but you were the type of person who liked to do things for yourself, so you could have the satisfaction of saying that you did it,
“You know, filming and shit is so much closer and easier to get to, I don’t have to waste money on plane tickets and plus, the weather is great here.”
“Yeah, I get it.” He smiled at you as you both took boxes into the house, “Well, I’m glad you moved out here, so I can see you a lot more.” You nodded and placed those last two boxes on the floor, “You think we can take a break?” You almost zoned out completely when he wiped the sweat from his forehead, making you bite your lip,
“Uh, what?”
“You wanna grab some sandwiches or something?” You shook yourself back into concentration,
“Yeah, yeah, I could really use one.” You both walk out into the garden to find Dodger nudging his head into his toy, offering his stuffed lion to your Missy, “Fast friends, aren’t they?”
It was seven long months before you could see Missy again and Chris too. Filiming had taken over your life and you had no time to talk to your friends and family or even post on social media. You were extremely tired. So, when you arrived home after those seven months, you crawled into bed and didn’t leave its warmth for another two days, snuggled up with your trusty Missy. Unbeknownst to you, you were beginning to get sick, only noticing when the worst had come; a blocked yet runny nose, a chest infection, and a pounding headache. You groaned as you heard the knocks at the door cursing at whoever was disturbing you. Nevertheless, you fixed your hair and tied your robe over your pyjamas and opened the door. On your doormat stood the six-foot-something, broad shouldered Chris. You whinged at the sight of the sun.
“Didn’t you get my texts? You look sick.” Chris says, concern surround the tone of his voice,
“I, uh, didn’t charge my phone when I got home.”
“Y/N… That was three days ago, you haven’t gotten out of bed since?” You shook your head and motioned him into your house, Dodger following behind him,
“I had a shower last night but that’s it.” You plopped yourself onto the sofa and sighed, “My nose and my head are killing me, everything is killing me.” Dodger whines and places his head on your knee, looking at you with worried eyes,
“He can feel you’re unwell, he’s worried.”
“I’m alright, boy, I’ll be okay.” You said with awe, stroking the fur on his head. As you bring your focus on Dodger, Chris is carrying Missy and scratching her ear while looking at you. He smiles while stares at you, not knowing why. He shakes himself back in the room and places Missy next to you,
“Hungry?” You nod. He makes his way to your kitchen and begins the preparation to make you some soup. Moments later, he makes his way over to the sofa where you lay and places the bowl on the table. As he turns his attention to you, he notices the soft snores coming from you, Dodger, who was sprawled on your legs, and Missy, who was resting on your chest, your arms cradling her. He laughs and strokes your hair back from your face, your eyes flickering open at the sight of his face, “Good morning, sleepy head.”
“Hi.”
“I made you something to eat.” You pat Dodger on the head and sit up, he hands you the bowl and you thank him. He turns on the TV, sitting beside you with Dodger snuggled on your side and Missy snoring on Chris’ lap. You both hadn’t paid attention to the TV, busily chatting about work and how much you both miss your family. It wasn’t long until silence covered your mouths, quiet snores filled the room, the sound of infomercials drowning out in the background; both of you unknowingly snuggled together on the chaise of the sofa, your head resting on Chris’ chest and his chin resting on your head.
You both woke up in the morning as if sleeping snuggled against each other was a reoccurring thing for you to do. He smiled at you, a groggy ‘good morning’ coming from his lips. Suddenly, he sneezes,
“Shit, I’m sorry!” You laugh.
Dodger and Missy circled you and Chris as you both sat on the sand, waiting for the sun to set. Chris had just told you that after the night you had spent together a few months before, Dodger began to get whiney when you weren’t around, that he really loved you, probably more than Chris himself.
“So, Y/N, what are you doing next week?” Chris asked, his hand digging into the sand,
“Nothing, why?”
“It’s my birthday on Tuesday and I’m going home to celebrate with my family, do you wanna, you know, come?” Your family affairs weren’t exactly your cup of tea. The constant nagging to get married and have kids as if you were made for that sole purpose only, made you groan in frustration, as you were, as you yourself fully knew, were so much more than that. But if you were invited to someone else’s family affair, especially a birthday, it wouldn’t be so bad. You nodded and thanked him. Suddenly, you felt a head of hair nudge your arm and lift its head with a stick in its mouth. You stroked Dodger’s fur and laughed,
“Yes, of course, I’ll play with you.”
Tuesday came around like a race car. You were packed and dressed, ready to be picked up and taken to Massachusetts. Knocks were heard coming from your front door. You took a little jog from your room to the door, opening it to Chris embracing you.
“Happy Birthday, handsome!” You cheered, reaching around to hug him back,
“Thank you.”
“Let’s go?” You called out to your friend who came running in with Dodger and Missy, “Behave, you two.” You joked to the two pups before thanking your friend for dog sitting,
“They’re tied to the tails.” Chris laughed, making you agree.
After the flight from LA to Boston, you were greeted at the gate by Chris’ mom and one of his sisters. He gave them a hug and introduced you, his hand placed lightly on the small of your back, gently nudging you in a supportive manner.
“This is my friend, Y/N Y//L/N.” He says, smiling,
“Ah, finally, we’ve seen you in the movie and Christopher, here, is always talking about how amazing you are,” His mom explains, “I’m Lisa.” She gave you a hug,
“I’m Carly.” Carly’s hug following right after. In that moment you knew where Chris got his embracive side, making you smile. You and Chris walk to the car, your bags slung over your shoulders and Chris’ hand still on the small of your back,
“You talked about me?” You asked quietly,
“Was I n-not-”
“No, no, it’s cool, it’s cute.” Your cheeks flushed crimson and you smiled up at him, the space closing between the both of you but was interrupted by the sound of Carly’s voice telling you that the trunk of the car was open for your bags, making you walk away from an almost eventful moment. You had a wonderful time chatting with Carly and Lisa in the car on the way back to their house, laughter and gasps of baby stories of Chris filled the vehicle. You complimented the house and thanked Lisa for letting you stay with her family. Chris went up to his room and Carly showed you your bedroom, thanking her straight after,
“Everyone should be arriving soon, just a warning, we’re all really loud.” You laughed and shook your head,
“I love loud.”
“Then you’ll fit right in.” And Carly was just right, the entire night you were a perfect fit with Chris’ family and friends. Everyone loved you and spent the night surrounding you, telling you stories about Chris in his younger years.
Chris couldn’t stop staring at you and how beautiful you looked, how you easily got along with every single person in the room. He was amazed, in awe at how you captured everyone without even trying. He looks at you longingly, not being able to help it at this point. Everyone was truly in awe of you. God, even his dog loved you. By the end of the night, everyone and their mothers had told Chris how lucky he was to have you and what a keeper you were. He knew that in himself. He knew because he was in love with you.
He couldn’t sleep that night and neither could you. The rain was pouring cats and dogs and the thunder crashed boomingly, startling you every time it made an appearance. Suddenly, your phone vibrates indicating you had a text.
Tumblr media
With that, you hear a knock on the door of the bedroom. You push the covers off of you and open it. Chris stands in his white shirt and shorts and you in your old college shirt, a couple of sizes too big for you, and some sleeping shorts. He takes your hand and leads you to the Queen-sized bed. You snuggle close to him as he rubs your back, his chin resting on your head.
“Thank you.” You whispered, gripping his shirt as another crash of thunder came,
“It’s okay.” You feel warm and safe in his arms,
“Your heart,” you begin, “it’s beating really fast.”
“Sorry.”
“No,” you laugh, “I don’t mind, it’s helping me focus, actually.”
“Oh?”
“That sounded less creepy in my head.” You both burst into laughter but quiet yourselves as quickly as you started, “You have a lovely family.” You look up at him,
“Thank you, they all love you, seriously, I’ll never hear the end of it if I let you go.”
“Then don’t.” Silence fills the room. As he holds you, he feels you relax even more,
“Y/N?” He whispers,
“Yeah?” He looks at the way the moonlight shines on your face perfectly,
“I really want to kiss you.”
“Okay.” His hand then cups your cheek and pulls you close, closing the already small gap between the both of you, crashing his lips onto yours. As your mouths move against each other, your hand moves to grip the hand on your cheek, his kiss deepening. When you both get the chance to pull away, something you didn’t really want to do, you were breathless,
“I’ve been wanting to do that since you got sick.”
“Ew, what?” You laughed,
“Oh, god, no, I meant the day you got sick, I saw how you were with Dodger and I just- I saw how we could be together and I just loved you.” Your eyes grow wide,
“Woah.”
“Shit, no, wait, I-”
“I love you too.” He stops his rambling and pecks your lips,
“Thank, God.” Before you knew it, the birds had began chirping and the sunrise was peeking in through the window, you both looked at each other, “Let’s sleep now?” You laughed and nodded,
“Okay.”

DAYS 29-35
Tumblr media
DAY TWENTY-NINE [JAN 29]
8:30 AM - It’s payday! Wooooo! Make a chemex, eat a plant yogurt. Schedule for today is pretty clear so I’m hoping I can edit photos for iBlog and do some work with the Mined app.
9:30 AM - Eat a plant yogurt  & a few pretzels
12:30 PM - Back to salad today.
2:30 PM - It hits. My brain feels tingly, my body feels heavy. Low blood pressure has arrived. I try to move a little bit for the next hour and drink a nuun while I listen to a session on Mined.
3:45 PM - Play DDR, but my heart isn’t in it.  By the end, my legs feel heavy, I’m not very agile at all.
5:30 PM - Pour myself a glass of wine and eat a handful of Swedish Fish. It’s all downhill when I break out the fish. Ugh.
6:30 PM - I need more wine or something… Still not feeling that great. Drink another glass and prep dinner - We’re eating mini bean rice, and cheese burritos for din with chips and salsa.
8:30 PM - K asks if I want to go on a stroll. The walk helps me feel better so I’m super grateful we got out! Spend the rest of the evening watching The Challenge and working on my blog.
DAY TWENTY-NINE TOTAL: $0
DAY THIRTY
8:30 AM - I definitely still have a bit of residual weirdness from yesterday but I think as long as I can stand for a few minutes every hour and get in a long walk at some point I’ll be alright. Make a chemex and practice staying present.
11:15 AM - Take a mile and a halfish walk while chatting with my T.
12:30 PM - K returns from his walk to the lake and brunch is served – breakfast tacos. His has eggs and mine potatoes. Usually they have tofu but we’re out. They’re pretty good honestly! Open a lemon La Croix
3:00 PM - Not feeling that great. Keep trying to stand and walk around. K goes for some snacks and I join him. Eat some grapes, gf pretzels, and a few veggie sticks. Finish my blog post for lasagna roll ups and watch a handful of episodes of The Challenge
5:00 PM - Drink another La Croix and decide to do a 20 minute bike ride. I’m not really looking to kill myself today since I know I under perform when my blood pressure is bad so I just get through it for the sake of hopefully feeling better after.
7:00 PM - K and I split a pizza for dinner plus air fried broccoli. Read some of Whole Again.
DAY THIRTY TOTAL: $0
DAY THIRTY-ONE
8:00 AM - Last day of the month! Wake up still feeling gross. Make a chemex and watch The Challenge while I wake up.
10:00 AM - I have a recipe I want to shoot today. I FaceTime my B half way through cooking and I kind of lose interest by the final shoot. I might have to reshoot it but I’ll see what the photos look like tomorrow or Tuesday before readjusting.
4:00 PM - Eat a small bowl of soup and an alpha burrito. Paint sampling has begun! We narrow it down to 2 and then pick another area to paint and have a clear winner.
5:00 PM - Zoom with K’s family then K goes on a walk to the lake. I go with him and am grateful for the company.
DAY THIRTY-ONE TOTAL: $0
DAY THIRTY-TWO
8:00 AM - New month new budget! Pure barre charge comes out. $15
9:00 AM - We basically get forced to donate to a specific organization at work every year and this is the year. I donate some dough to get it off my desk. $20
10:00 AM - Buy 4 containers of no-chicken bouillon base from Vitacost and a thing of vital wheat gluten from Amazon. $34.07
1:45 PM - Buy all the stuff to paint the trim! I’m only buying 2 gallons of paint and will get more if I need it… plus a paint pail, a tiny foam roller, and tray, painter’s tape, plastic sheets for the floors, a small paintbrush, a plastic spatula. The things aren’t slated to be here until the 10th so I have some time to mentally prepare before it arrives. $173.06
12:00 PM - K and I finish out the last of the salad. We did so good with produce this time!
3:00 PM - K wants BBQ chicken sandwiches which honestly sound super delish so I prep chicken seitan. It doesn’t take as long as the ham thankfully!
4:30 PM - Do a pure barre live stream, rinse off, toss potatoes in the oven.
6:30 PM - Food is ready! Drink a glass of wine after with some chocolate squares and a few Swedish Fish. I’m not feeling 100% yet from my iron crash and my will to be productive is zilch. K and I finish watching a doc series about the unabomber on Netflix and eventually turn in.
DAY THIRTY-TWO TOTAL: $242.13
DAY THIRTY-THREE
8:30 AM - Today is going to be absolutely crazy. I have meetings from basically 9-5. Make a chemex and hop on my first meeting.
9:30 AM - Eat an orange for breakfast.
12:00 PM - I have just enough time to prep cheesy red lentil soup in the instant pot before my next meeting.
5:15 PM - What a whirlwind. Sit for five minutes and reset. Then, put on my workout clothes and do a 10-minute Peloton ride plus a pure barre livestream.
7:00 PM - Make BBQ chicken sandwiches again for dinner with broccoli. Make an old fashioned and chat with a friend until about midnight. Woosh!
DAY THIRTY-THREE TOTAL: $0
DAY THIRTY-FOUR
8:30 AM - Today won’t be as chaotic thankfully. Make a chemex and slowly ease into work.
9:45 AM - Spoke too soon. Had to present something in a huge meeting on the fly. It went well.
10:45 AM - My friend A is getting married at the courthouse on Saturday. She isn’t inviting anyone and it makes me sad because I wish I could be there! Order flowers to be delivered to her house. $74.78
10:55 AM - My friend M’s kid is turning 1 this weekend and is having people over in the backyard to celebrate. I buy his kid (who I basically consider to be my nephew) an upright tiny piano so he can go to town. $75.66
11:00 AM - My therapy session is today. Get some good insight and schedule an appt for next month. $90
4:00 PM - Today did not end up being chill AT ALL. Wow. Maybe tomorrow will be better hahaha.
5:30 PM - Take a walk and call S and then do a Pure Barre class. Shower, and make BBQ chicken sandwiches for dinner with green beans.
8:00 PM - Drink wine, watch The Challenge. K and I play some Mario Kart too.
DAY THIRTY-FOUR TOTAL: $240.44
DAY THIRTY-FIVE
8:30 AM - Make a chemex. Cut some pineapple for breakfast later this AM.
10:00 AM - Pineapple time. I take my time easing into today since this entire week has been wild. Order some stuff on Thrive - dried pinto beans, coconut milk, nuun, vegan parm, a sheet mask, baking powder, and jackfruit. $52.49
12:30 PM - Eat cheesy red lentil soup for lunch and a polar seltzer.
3:00 PM - More pineapple.
5:00 PM - Make a hibiscus syrup thing for a cocktails later and seitan ham water.
5:30 PM - Barre workout. Going 4/4 babyyyy! Shower, make dinner - BBQ chicken sandwiches and potatoes, do dishes etc.
DAY THIRTY-FIVE TOTAL: $52.49

I’m a Virginia fan who stands by Tony Bennett forever
Tumblr media
Virginia’s loss to No. 16 UMBC stings, but there’s no question Tony Bennett is the right coach for UVA.
Wooooo, boy. This one hurts. It’s weird, because I’m in a really strange spot. This isn’t the worst thing to happen to me this week, by far, so I’m maybe taking this a little better than some of the other Virginia fans out there.
But I’m going to try and put this into perspective.
That was one of the most epic, unexpected, heartbreaking losses in the history of college basketball. Not hyperbolic worst-ever loss — literal worst-ever loss.
No. 1 seeds don’t lose to No. 16 seeds. Ever. This is the first time in the history of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament that a No. 1 seed has ever lost to a No. 16 seed. On top of that, Virginia was the top overall seed in the tournament. On top of that, UMBC was No. 63 in terms of true seed. On top of THAT, Virginia was hands-down, no question the best team in college basketball this season.
That, to me, doesn’t change. Virginia won a school-record 31 games, finishing with the fewest losses in the country (3), no matter what happens for the rest of the tournament. They rolled through the ACC, beating Duke, North Carolina (twice), Louisville (three times), and won an ACC record 17 conference games in the regular season. Their ACC tournament title was dominant and gave the Hoos 20 wins in conference, the best mark ever achieved.
I can hear you right now.
“That doesn’t matter, Caroline, they lost to a 16 seed LOL.”
I get that. I hear that. Part of me feels that.
But, it isn’t true. It absolutely does matter.
Virginia found out Tuesday they’d be without their explosive x-factor, DeAndre Hunter, who broke his wrist in the ACC semifinal win against Clemson. Was that the deciding factor? Maybe. Probably not, though.
You can point to UMBC being a tougher 16-seed, or Virginia not getting a play-in winner, or the fact that a 9:20 p.m. tip on the East Coast is not ideal. None of those things helped, but definitely didn’t cause the loss.
The deciding factor was the fact that UMBC hit just enough shots in the first half to keep the pressure on and build their confidence. Then they rode that confidence to a beat down. Virginia struggled offensively — not with finding open shots, but converting them. Foul trouble for seniors Isaiah Wilkins and Devon Hall sent them to the bench early, but no matter what the Hoos tried, nothing worked. In the second half, every time Virginia hit a shot, Jairus Lyles found a way to make a bucket.
A halftime tie ballooned into a 20 point loss.
I’ve already fielded the “can Tony Bennett coach in the big games?” questions, and people in the comment section are asking if he should be on the hot seat. No, really, that’s happening.
I’m 100% not here for that nonsense.
Yes, Tony Bennett can coach in the big game. No, he should absolutely not be on the hot seat. There is literally no one I would rather have coaching my team. No one.
The NCAA tournament is a brutal, beautiful beast. It is relentless and cruel and amazing all at the same time. Virginia shot 39 percent from three for the season and 18 percent in the loss.
I’m maybe one of the few that doesn’t buy into the complaints about the style or the success in March. It doesn’t work until it finally does.
In 2014, Virginia ran into an under-seeded Michigan State team in the Sweet 16 that won 61-59. It was the first time since the Ralph Sampson days that the Hoos were a one-seed, and it came down to one shot.
The next season, Virginia straight stunk it up. They sucked. Justin Anderson was recently back from a broken finger and an appendectomy and the Hoos lost to the Spartans again, this time an under-seeded seven-seed in the Round of 32.
2016 brought us the horribly perfect and terrible loss to Syracuse. Virginia led by 16 in the second half, seemingly on the way to their first Final Four since 1984. Then Syracuse pressed. The Hoos actually broke the press fine, but a missed lay up here, an un-called foul there, and the unconscious shooting of Malachi Richardson ripped hearts out. I still maintain if the Hoos didn’t play Iowa State the game prior — where they flawlessly broke the press and crushed the Cyclones’ souls — they maybe don’t push as hard offensively. One or two made baskets, Boeheim calls off the press, and the Hoos have a banner.
Last season, Virginia’s ceiling was much lower. The early season dismissal of Austin Nichols left a void in the post, and London Perrantes was forced into a role he wasn’t accustomed to. Couple all of that with Wilkins’ mysterious illness, and that performance wasn’t wholly unexpected (by me, at least). Did it suck? Sure, but Virginia’s “style” didn’t lead to 39 points.
This is Bennett’s ninth season at UVA. Bo Ryan took 14 years to make his first Final Four. Coach K took 11 seasons. Adolph Rupp took 12 seasons. Jay Wright took nine seasons to make his first. John Calipari took 11 years to get to one that wasn’t vacated. Sean Miller still hasn’t made one. Mike Brey still hasn’t made one.
Coach Bennett is one of the best coaches in the country, and the Virginia Cavaliers have established a winning culture that has become a mainstay in college basketball. The narrative will be that they can’t win the big game until they can.
As a Virginia fan, this game sucked, and sucked hard. But UMBC played incredibly, and that 16-vs-1 record was begging to be broken. It just happens it’s the Hoos that were on the losing side of it. I hate to break it to you, though, it also had nothing to do with the style that is so hated by those outside the greater Charlottesville area. Missed shots by Virginia and made shots by UMBC led to that upset.
To UMBC, congratulations. You earned this. You deserved this. You played hard, you shot well, and you were confident. Honestly, if there was a way to be on the wrong side of your team losing in such an epic upset, this is it. Your mascot is a cute dog and you caught a great team on an off day and made the most of it.
Regardless of the outcome, I LOVE this team. They played with heart all season, and I won’t entertain any discussions of them not caring or trying or whatever lazy argument. This is a team that started the season unranked, worked their way to number one in the country, held that spot for five straight weeks (two unanimous), and did it with a roster that was full of “untalented” nobodies.
None of that changes with a single-elimination loss in a crapshoot tournament. This will sting, and I’ll keep smiling through the tweets and the texts and the jokes and the inevitable time in the future where this comes up as an answer to a trivia question.
This hurts, but it’ll pass.
