I also wanna add some infos from Hatta's side, if you don't mind op?

- Hatta's wife described their anger on each other as 'something only both of them understood, people who aren't close to them will misunderstood it.' Imagine your wife saying this about you and your bestie, truly insane.

- Hatta become a patron of a history books publishing company, named after Soekarno's mother (Yayasan Idayu) and would attend every single meeting whenever asked.

- Meutia, his firstborn daughter, described his father didn't cry at seeing Soekarno's dead body but in later years, Hatta would often cry if he remember their last meeting (every Indonesian at least searched this story once in their life and knew it by heart)

- Hatta refused visitting Soekarno's grave due to his religious belief but also grudge from Soekarno shutting down his library in Yogyakarta.

- That said, he wrote a will to Soekarno's firstborn son, Guntur, on how the national philosophy of the country was written by Soekarno and no one else. Keep in mind this was during Soeharto's era, when DeSoekarnoisation (Soekarno's influence and deed got wiped away) was rampant. He went toe to toe with a New Order (Soeharto's regime) historian to set the fact straight. And we all know how Soeharto ran a brutal regime at that time.

- In 1970s interview when asked about proclamation statues he would say that he doesn't mind statues only it has to be as accurate as possible. He said he saw Soekarno's statues and said 'it doesn't look like him' (the interviewer didn't ask about this btw)

- I also want to add that Hatta may or may not be involved in a coup against Soeharto in 1977 but the whole story is sketchy and involve real life mysticism. But the guy who 'instigated' it, Sawito, basically said that the movement started from Hatta, who intend to keep his vow with Soekarno in 1957 (which is post-falling out btw) that is to upheld Pancasila (national philosophy) in any case. The case was called Sawito Affair (Kasus Sawito in Indonesian). Hatta denied his involvement but well, some historian begged to differ at this. There is an analysis of this case by Daniel Dhakidae, an Indonesian academic. For Indonesian who wanted to read it, it's on iPusnas titled Romantika Politik Hatta by Kompas.

- They were born at dawn. Soekarno got called Son of Dawn because of this, which really should be given to Hatta too since he too was born at dawn 'when the morning prayers were sung around Bukittinggi', his birthplace.

- The 40 days death day of Fatmawati, Soekarno's second wife, coincide with 100 days death day of Hatta, which also coincide with 10 years of Soekarno's death. Not even sure what to make of this fact other than wtf.
