Secondary Toast Revolving Door, Part 2
On what it’s like when I burn Bird secondary
Usually, when I burn either Bird secondary or Badger secondary model, they’re down for weeks or months at a time. I know they’ll come back, which isn’t always true of burned Houses in general but that’s just how mine work. Right now Bird is having a minor upset and it’s been out for a few weeks; it was about to come back when life stress happened and smacked it down again. This time I can predict that it’ll be back in maybe two weeks when everything’s settled down, but usually it’s not that tidy—I don’t always know why it’s having problems or what to do to get it to recover. Usually I just wait it out.
The burned state looks different for Bird vs Badger, of course. I’m probably going to struggle with writing the Badger side, either because I’ve forgotten the details of what it looks/feels like or because it’s actually simpler. I lean towards the “I’ve forgotten” angle. My memory is very bad during depressive periods. (You’d think this would leave my brain goblins fewer cringey memories with which to taunt me at 4am, but no.)
But that doesn’t matter right now because today we’re talking about Bird.
Tipoffs I’ve burned Bird
Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’ve burned one of your Houses. It doesn’t always have a clear start or end, and you might not notice the gradual slipping into exhaustion and lack of confidence in your House. Here are some things I catch myself doing or thinking when my Bird peaces out on me.
I start thinking I’m not good at things I’ve spent years studying.
I get a panicky feeling of resistance when I think about working on projects that wouldn’t normally give me problems.
I struggle with self-doubt about my ability to learn new skills.
This one’s complicated: the society I live in holds Bird up as the way it thinks intelligence should look. So, in burned-Bird!Paint’s mind, that makes it arrogant to assume that you're better at using Bird than others, because it suggests you think you're smarter (and thus better, because society says that too) than them. Therefore, if I’ve learned how to do something, my impulse is to assume that anyone could. Anything I’ve already learned is obviously easy, because I learned it, and so it isn’t rare or valuable.
Weird analysis paralysis cocktail: I feel perpetually unprepared to do stuff and too afraid to move forward, but I’ve also internalized the “you’re never going to feel ready so just start now” advice—which is supposed to spur you into action and probably works if you’re a Lion, but it just gives me something else to beat myself up about.
Sometimes Bird secondary starts feeling more like a toy than a tool that can actually be effective. If that's happening, using it feels kind of self-indulgent and not terribly useful--it seems good for entertainment, but not for anything else.
That last one is really fricking weird and it took me months to figure out what it was and put it into words. It’s obviously flawed—it’s circular logic sitting on top of societal prejudice—but when you’re depressed, the kind of clarity you need to verbalize and pick apart something that complicated is often nowhere to be found, especially when your perception in general is skewed due self-hatred.
I can’t do that “just start now” thing Lions do—it terrifies me. But that’s fine. Other people don’t casually pick up new skills or binge-read nonfiction or hoard resources like I do—maybe that’s intimidating to them—and that’s fine. Both approaches are useful and powerful, objectively, and philosophically I “should” be okay with owning my abilities. That’s harder than it looks on paper, though.
There’s one more.
The value of skills is subjective, circumstantial, and easy to underestimate.
I’m a jack-of-all-trades style Bird. Lots of things interest me. But every time you decide to invest in a new skill rather than continuing with an old one, you sort of start over. Not completely; some skills transfer and there’s a lot of value in having a range of knowledge, especially in terms of creativity.
Still, though: you enter each new field as a total noob, you stay long enough to become a kinda competent noob, and then when you’ve learned what you want and maybe built the thing you wanted to build, you leave. Rinse and repeat. Usually you don’t stay long enough to become super-skilled, and people in your community don’t specifically ask you for help.
…Until they need something other than the thing they specialize in, and you happen to know it. Suddenly you’re the expert in the room. You know how to get the project started. You know where to research, who to ask about advanced topics, what all the search keywords are, and where to find the supplies. Suddenly you're valuable, and maybe you're not used to feeling valuable. It can be kind of a jarring experience.
It's especially jarring when someone you know needs something and you're like, "oh I can take care of that, I spent six months studying how to do it and I have the resources already" and the other person gives you a look of deep skepticism and you try to convince them that no, really, it's not a big deal, you can have that done in a weekend or two if they give you the right information and... they don't believe you can do it, you guess. It's easy to misinterpret a "this sounds too good to be true" reaction for "I don't believe YOU can do it.”
My old draft had a note about how I should build myself a portfolio site to demonstrate stuff like this (except that my tastes develop faster than my actual skills in most fields, so I tend to dislike my own work and don't want to display it). But actually I’m wondering now if Badger secondary isn’t part of the problem. Sometimes I just volunteer to do stuff for people I only kinda know, without naming a motive or a price tag, and seen through that lens it’s hard to blame them for feeling awkward or skeptical about accepting. It’s not a big deal to you, but it is to them—too big to be just a favor. And then the people who do accept freely given help tend to take advantage of you… I guess I need to cultivate more Courtier Badger if I want to give my Bookkeeper Badger model stuff to do.
(Bonus bullet point: “I don’t know if I can really say my House is burned... it’s just not totally there right now? The stuff I’m dealing with isn’t THAT bad” is another tell that you’re burned. I’ve had to stop myself from writing that sort of thing several times over the course of this post. I’ll let myself bring it up for the opposite reason, though: if you’re thinking this, you may be underestimating the damage because you’ve forgotten what you’re like healthy. This goes for mental illness in general too. Don’t undermine your own experience.)
What I do instead
I’ve learned to be flexible and work around times when my Bird isn’t at 100%.
For example, this is why I have three novel projects running at once, with varying levels of complexity. The least complex of the three is new—I started it back in February, and working on that one instead of the others has let me stay productive and continue using Bird without pushing it past its limits. Plus it lets me keep making art, which as I’ve mentioned, is important to my general wellbeing.
If I’m able to section off my work like this and focus on the things I can do, and selectively procrastinate the ones I can’t (that aren’t super urgent), I’m usually fine—as long as I stay on top of my mental health enough for things to swing back around so I can catch up. It’s very, very difficult to recover if your needs aren’t being met.
I can be kind of a productive powerhouse when I can get my brain to actually process dopamine correctly (thanks, medication!) so if I can manage to work on something useful, I don’t always have to be too picky about what it is. That also means that if I can’t work on the things I’d normally use Bird to do (whether it’s burned or I’m just worn out), it’s a good excuse to catch up on more menial things like paperwork and laundry and whatnot. If I’ve let those pile up, dealing with them will improve my environment and my mental health and get Bird to recover faster.
What I shouldn’t do is continue to press on with my normal work, if I can avoid it. There have been times when people needed me to deliver the creative or technological thing I was using Bird to work on before it burned, and I had to push through and get it to them anyway, and it’s not a good situation for me.
*cue flashbacks to the three or four times that’s happened for months on end, dissociates for 10 minutes*
ugh okay brain can you not do that right now? trying to write a post here
Where was I? Oh, right. I was making a point.
Take the pressure off your burned House if you can.
I think when you burn one of your Houses, it's injured and you're actually worse at using it than people who just don't have it as one of their Houses. Say you're a bowling champion but your dominant wrist is broken. You can choose not to play at all until you recover, or you can try to play with your other hand but you're probably going to be worse at it than a lot of casual players, and that feels really bad because being good at this matters to you.
^ copied from the old draft of this post. I was going to write a smooth transition into that point, but it didn’t work and I’m not going to try to rewrite it and get “ERROR 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR” from my brain again.
In any case, this post has been sitting around for a week already and I should probably just publish it now. ^^;

Little Sister (V3 GIRLS!)
V3 casts spend a day with their s/o’s little 9 year old sis? also their sister isn’t that gullible but she is oblivious to innuendos.
Yet again... Anno! Only eight of the cast, don’t worry... honestly nowadays if you ask this it just counts if your lucky or not... if I want to do the girls or boys... so please do specify next time, for now let’s do some more girls!!
Tenko Chabashira
Oh my gosh!! This little girl is just like an mini... an mini you! Look at how small she is, Tenko could pinch her cheeks for days...!
It’ll be hard but you’ll need to convince her to somehow put your little sister down, as Tenko is happily accepting any requests for piggy-back rides, she’s even asking the little girl if she wants to practice spar- this little bundle of joy needs to know how to defend herself!
Tenko’s likely to be more gullible than her here, seriously, if your cute- and a girl she will literally be at your beck and call, which is why she’s just being your little sister’s servant for the day...
Then... you have to admit you feel a little jealous of the way Tenko’s giving her so much affection, especially with all the compliments and adoration...
You need some love too... how mean...
Himiko Yumeno
There... can only be one small cutie-pie in this relationship, Himiko may or may not be squinting at your little sister for the entire day...
Well till she asks about “magic” being the keyword here, your sister asked if she was an witch! Those are usually super duper bad...
Himiko had to go on a rant about how witches and mages are totally different, she went into a large amount of detail with energy you didn’t even know the mage had...
Your sister apologized, promising that she’ll never make the mistake ever again, earning a small smile from Himiko...
They get along better, a bit better after that... entire... discussion, Himiko even gives your little sister a quarter she got from the back of her ear, taken from the dimensional teleportation spell...!
Or your pockets, shit.
Angie Yonaga
Angie’s an utter delight to your little sister, she goes on to explain how such a small mind has so much... potential in her, so they go on to draw together... Angie brought crayons!
It’s a fun day for the two of them, your left watching as Angie “oohs” and “awws” at any of your little sister’s creations, they even make total super original characters together!
Angie gets along with her swimmingly, but not before placing a kiss on your cheek asking if she can talk with the little delight more often, it always is a wonderful-wonderful time to get along with someone related to the best person in the entire galaxy!
“... Angie means you!” Somehow it always draws back onto her loving you, which you won’t... deny, you go to hug her back, she still loves you the most silly! ❤️
Kaede Akamatsu
Kaede has a twin-sister... that doesn’t really count as to having a smaller one would be, so this would be a totally new experience for her, y’know?
She always wondered what it be like... so she organized a bunch of actvities for a little sister and big sister to do, plus you!
Of course, she had to make a good impression on your family... so, most of the day was spent traveling to... places, nail salons, toy stores... wow, Kaede really went all out!
Then... of course as we all know the final activity, of course is playing piano for the little girl, it’s always a pleasure to see the adoring smile on Kaori’s (her sister’s) face... so to see your little sister cheering for her as she plays one of her all-time favorites: “Claire de lune”!
It was a terrific performance to end off a perfect day.
Tsumugi Shirogane
Well she can’t technically drag her to the cosplay swamp, as she’s your sister you’d probably wouldn’t have fun dealing with a little girl in her otaku phase... but still, she’s going to recommend some anime with light fanbases and perfectly nice messages!
Tsumugi spends most of the day just discussing... plain ol’ things with her, offers to do her hair to make it cuter once or twice- actually...
Cosplay... Cosplay! Your little sister is obviously the perfect height to fit in a “Happy” cosplay- maybe “sans” too? Ooooh gosh!
Tsumugi obviously gets her makeup kit out, asking if the little girl wants to be in the shoes of another person for a while... you’ve left the room, you can’t stop what happens...
You don’t know whether or not to feel disappointed when you find your little sister dressed as sans undertale.
Miu Iruma
“Hey! So this is yer’ little sister, kehehehe she’s a rather cute fuuuuuuuuuu- friggin’... munchkin.”
... She’s trying her best, she really is trying her best to not make any inappropriate jokes or say any bad words... and she’s only narrowly doing it...
“Oh! Twinkies? Oh man, you ever notice that if you squeeze em’ tight enough it looks l- a volcano, that, what the fuuu- FRICK! Frick did you think I meant? Aha...”
“Woah! (S/O) after this you owe me a whole d... dang lot for having my golden brain cells improvise so dang much...!”
Miu is obviously in pain the entire time, but she holds it in...
Your thankful that she managed to hold yourself back for your sake if anything... honestly...
Maki Harukawa
As the Ultimate Child Caregiver, she drew children near her... surprisingly she had a rather loving motherly side when it was for children, her face looked... softer the entire day...
Maki was surprisingly good with talking with her, they spoke of small things that you didn’t even know your sister was interested in...!
... They haven’t even known each other for long yet... t-they already have such a strong bond, is this the work of an enemy stand?!
No, it’s just there power of the Ultimate Child Caregiver...
You swear your sister starts asking you if “Big Sister Maki” can visit again...
Kirumi Tojo
“... You shall know that... I shall try my best to make you feel happy for today, I am at your beck and call.”
She’s going to have to make an impression the best way she knows how, with her selfless devotion of course...
... If your sister actually asked for anything other than sweets, the little girl doesn’t want much okay?
They discuss some topics slightly about you, considering that’s the only thing your little sister actually related with about to Kirumi... not all these fancy cooking techniques or whatever...
... It was a fun conversation, talking helps you grow closer to people too, hm.

Zi-O 35: *chuckles* I’m in danger
(Using the RiderTimeFansubs version today)
Now... it’s show Rider Zi-O Inoue time.
(I’m out of opening jokes guys.)
-
Now that is a Black Widow if I ever saw one. Seriously, lady, you’re creeping me out. I am literally 33 seconds in.
Lady, er, sorry, Yuko, I don’t know what you were convicted of, but. Um. You’re not really giving off the impression of someone who is exactly going to be… okay if you go outside.
I will give Hora kudos for not shoving the watch into her chest, though. Good call. And apparently Another Kiva gets to summon the Real Kiva’s… support? I don’t actually know what those three Fangire are to Kiva, but. Yeah. I’mma go with either ‘support’ or ‘retainers’ for now.
Flip-cut to 2008, with… Woz… creeping on 2008 Yuko. This Is Fine.
Woz. I know you somehow make it into the Gaia Library in FOREVER. I know you don’t get much to do in FOREVER. I have not seen FOREVER yet, that’s next on the agenda.
BUT YOU DON’T GET TO SAY KEYWORD. YOU JUST DON’T.
(But still, kudos for the possible nod to the film having just gotten it’s home release, that’s clever.)
A quick note on the opening. Nothings changed in a few episodes, not since we got Trinity. But I can’t help but be uncomfortable with the fact that they still have the last scene with characters be the section with Zi-O and Geiz back to back, and then turning around and clashing.
It’s right up there with Cross-Z Charge staying in the OP for Build through the entire season, but Cross-Z Magma never making it in.
Keeping something that was relevant, but became quickly outdated. I’d say they should have swapped this segment somehow by at least the end of the Another Zi-O Arc, if not before. … Nah, end of Another Zi-O would be the best place. I was thinking that after Geiz gave Sougo his belt, and that whole shindig, but there was still an amount of animosity after that for a while.
OH NOOO MY HEART! THEY’RE ALL GETTING ALONG AND FAWNING OVER JUNICHIRO’S APPLE PIE! It’s too cute, help!
But really, all four are immediately smiling, and it’s adorable. Woz kind of seems like he’s lost all of his stoic traits from even two arcs ago, though.
…oh no, Sougo’s Space Case tendencies transferred to Woz when they started using Trinity.
That’s the only answer. Sougo’s been increasingly competent, and both him and Geiz are getting better at talking to people… and Woz has become comic relief. Oh no personality blending nooooo…
But that is exactly the right set of reactions to Sougo saying he’s been in love. A+ to Tsukuyomi pointing out that he’s ‘like a kid.’
Sougo: Of course I’ve been in love! :)
Geiz: Oh god you’re telling us about it. End me now…
...HUH. Just realized. Junichiro wouldn’t know about this, would he? Kiva – and thus our past segments – were in 2008, but Sougo came to live with his uncle in 2009. So Sougo’s parents were still alive at this point.
2008 Sougo didn’t have friends, either.
Tsukuyomi and Geiz looking on in confusion, Junichiro messing with his nephew (while also confused) and Woz… continues eating pie. I’m worried about you, dude. Character Decay’s not a good thing.
And we have a customer, interrupting story time!
OH WOW! He’s here to get a watch fixed! That’s a first from a non-Time Traveler! The only people bringing in actual time pieces have been Woz and Mondo – you know, Quiz, remember him?
(Customer thinks the shop may have become a cafe – fair, given the scene he’s just walked in on – and Uncle’s stuck in cat-pun mode. Whoops.)
(I’ve started Decade, and the apparently recurring ‘I thought this was a cafe’ joke from there with regards to the Photo Studio just popped into my head. Nice.)
Yuko is. Scary. She wants to take over the world to change the laws.
:casts a nervous glance over at the Kiva and Ryuki arcs of Decade:
Hora’s got a point – the only female Another Rider was Amane, as Another Blade, and she was selected by Hat!Woz. But… looks like Hora’s still in the ‘looking for a new King’ state. Even Heure seems to have moved past that. Last arc, he was trying to find Hibiki, not a candidate. Interesting.
Customer is a lawyer, and knows that he can’t always be the ‘gallant hero’ that Sougo seems to think lawyers are. After all, he couldn’t help ‘that pretty lady.’ But he’s forgotten something at the counter, and Sougo – good boy that he is – rushes off to follow and return it.
YUKO. STOPPED A CAR. WITH HER FOOT. IN HEELS. AND A TINY SKIRT.
:siiiiiigh: Did we really need that pan shot along her leg? Did we?
No. No we didn’t.
And we didn’t need Yuko being a CREEPER to her former lawyer – aka Customer. She’s got a… really sensitive nose. That’s really creepy, especially since she’s using it to unnerve literally everyone around her. It’s not even an Another Kiva thing – she was doing this to identify the exact wine her former boyfriend had in the cold open.
Yuko Kitajima, okay, so that’s her last name. And her doing this ‘ah, yes, it’s that aroma’ trick is what lets her lawyer know it’s her. So she’s done this for a long time.
Another Kiva has some nice touches – roses at the lapels of her cape, where the chain attaches, the stained glass aesthetic.
HOWEVER. I’m NOT here for the eyes. That bright piercing blue is both unnerving AND doesn’t go with the rest of the look! Not to mention the eyes on her shoulders! NO NO NOPE NOT HERE FOR THAT.
...When did Zi-O drop the ‘dial’ eyes, anyway? Definitely by Another Zi-O, I know that… but the Future Another Riders had them, too. Then again, the years have all been ‘2019’ for the last few arcs. Blade, Hibiki, and now Kiva definitely have said 2019. Huh. Wonder if it’s something to do with that.
Another Kiva: I’m going to be queen, and this world will be ~mine~.
Sougo: Queen? :o
SOUGO! THIS IS NOT THE TIME! DO NOT APPRECIATE THE COLORS! YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK!
Ooh, hey, she’s even got a version of Kivat-Bat on there! Nice!
Sougo, please at least put on one of your armors. Like. Any of them would do, right now. Build would be good! You can tank hits really well in that one! Decade’d be better! But just something to give you defense! This is four on one you fool you are outnumbered
AND NOW you are also outgunned, because she can turn her Summoned Fangire Replicas into their weapon forms. Delightful.
And after getting hit by the hammer, sword, and gun, Sougo’s knocked right the hell out of his transformation. Whoops.
Yuko. Yuko don’t – don’t stand over him like that, what are you doing? No, no, don’t do the chin thing, Sougo’s already a wreck, we don’t need him losing sensibility already! Don’t leave the braincell to Geiz! Nooooo-
Hora: So, a queen, huh?
Yuko: How dare a servant talk to me.
OH MY GOODNESS WOW
Hora’s not having this. Just. Teleports out of the way of Yuko trying to slap her. Good call.
YUKO. FRICKING. Kicks up a manhole cover. THROWS IT LIKE A FRISBEE at Hora.
Hora just TURNS HER HEAD to dodge. All she gets is a cut on the cheek – HORA YOU’RE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE OH MY GOD.
Hora’s gonna do a violence.
(Hey, Heure, back when we met Swartz, you told him not to treat you like a child. So… what’s with you two getting ice cream? That’s. Weird. And creepy.)
HEURE. HORA. GET OUT OF THERE. BOTH OF YOU. YOU CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS.
Cut to evening in the shop.
I can believe this lady did a murder. She certain plans to do some murders now.
The day of the crime she’s ‘falsely’ accused of was April 10, 2015. Just felt like noting that.
(And noting that that fits right in with when a Roidmude could have taken someone’s identity. And noting that we haven’t seen Drive yet.)
(I know there’s like, zero chance it’s connected. Why would they link two different arcs like that? That is, aside from Fourze and Faiz, but that was different.)
(But, you know. Just saying.)
She’s almost definitely going after people who got her imprisoned, there’s no maybe about it. And, er, I can actually understand why Sougo would relate to that, what with. You know. The whole ‘demon king’ thing.
Except that he thinks she couldn’t have done it, because she was his First Love. Woz is all “suggestive raised eyebrows” while Geiz and Tsukuyomi just. They just want the inanity to end.
I fucking LOVE how everyone keeps making cat puns / noises with regards to this story. I mean. Really. She scratched you under the chin, dude. That’s weird.
(Nya.)
Weirdo guy in a coffee bar, insulting the coffee but still coming here, because the waitress is pretty. “Yay.”
Also, he’s got this fancy ring on. That’s probably significant, since P-Bandai’s releasing a ring for one of the Kiva characters. They had Amane wearing the Chalice themed necklace, too, so-
OH LOOK Weirdo’s eyes lit up gold when he was talking about ‘seeing a vision of the end of the world’! And his reflection is a blue wolf! You know! The one from Kiva! That the ring is modeled on! Okay!
Right! Legacy Characters! I somehow forgot that they’d try to bring someone from Kiva back!
Cut to Yuko being creepy at a pier, going after the Chief Prosecutor in her case, right up until Sougo and Geiz arrive.
Sougo’s got one question for you. (Just one? Sounds fake, but okay.)
Sougo: “Why do you want to be a queen?”
Yuko: “To correct the laws of this world, to enforce those correct laws.” (all said with an angry face)
Sougo: “So… it is to help people, then?” (confused)
Geiz: “Oh, for f- That’s not how you should go about it! This is just revenge!”
Geiz has the Trinity brain cell today, and he’s making good use of it!
Oh-ho-hohoho- Hora’s PISSED. She chose poorly. She’s gonna get some revenge of her own.
And now Yuko’s gonna do a violence, because all of them are ‘guilty.’
Geiz transforms, but Sougo doesn’t get that far.
No, he’s just gotten into some weird flashback to 2008.
So, a woman – possibly Yuko, I’m not sure, and ‘Tetsuya’ in one of those swan boats. And then it jumps to 2015. With a (presumably) dead female body… and Tetsuya standing over her.
Right. Sougo’s got time powers independent of the belt. He’s only ever looked into the future before now.
SOUGO! I don’t really care what sort of crisis of faith you’re having, you need to go help Geiz! He’s in a four on one, in an even less ideal location than you were! GO HELP HIM!
What’s this? Something’s going weird up in the sky. First to notice is Swartz, who looks up at the ripples of light. Then Tsukuyomi. (“The two of us aren’t so different after all.”)
And then Garulu. The one on the dock. Who I’d thought was a copy. But, um, maybe not. Maybe that’s the actual one? The real one was talking about a ‘vision of the future’ earlier, after all. But what about the other two Fangire? Are they the real ones? How is Another Kiva summoning them, anyway?
Geiz is knocked out of his transformation – and Sougo didn’t even get to activate his own. He never finished turning the belt before noticing a meteor streaking down the sky. The same one that Garulu was seeing in the coffee bar.
I don’t know WHAT that is that just hit that cliff face, but I don’t like the looks of it.
It – it’s alive? Is it an egg?
No no no NOPE it’s a space egg. It’s got a dude inside. It’s got a kitbash Rider inside. And he’s just blasted everyone down.
Everyone except the very noticeably absent Swartz.
Another Kiva tells him to stop – she is the law here.
But Ginga is from deep space. He doesn’t care about your Earth Laws. He’s going to blast you off of your cliff, too.
(I’m sorry, but I’m having a little trouble taking Ginga seriously with that UFO on his helmet.)
“Alright, let’s go!”
“WAIT NO! WAGA MAOU, STOP!”
“ASK US BEFORE YOU USE TRINITY, DAMNIT!”
Turning into a watch is not fun times.
“There is only one law. Everything dies.”
Yoooo I can take Ginga a little more seriously with those barriers. Yoooooo this guy is WAY overpowered.
Seiji Takaiwa is a god of suit acting~! Making just the little adjustments to show which loser is in control of Trinity moment to moment takes timing.
Also, the only person who can talk is the one in control? That’s. Unfortunate. For them. It’s HILARIOUS for us.
(Tsukyomi, I’m sorry, you don’t deserve to have to deal with these three.)
Nothing they throw at Ginga is working. He’s kicking everyone’s ass. Ass, singular, because bodysharing.
HOO BOY. We have our second female Another Rider… and she doesn’t get to be the main threat in her arc, either. Come on, Toei. … Let’s blame Inoue for this one. He’s here, after all.
Looks like Woz gets a Super mode in Ginga.
Well. At least he didn’t get completely shafted in the power-up regard, once his Character Decay set in.
Justice for Alain. (He! Deserved! Better! Yuujo Burst should have been IN SHOW damnit! Not relegated to the STUPID GOD AWFUL SPECTER V-CINEMA!)
(IT’S NOT EVEN HIS OWN SPECIAL! IT’S MAKOTO’S! IT COULD AT LEAST HAVE BEEN IN THE ‘LEGEND OF HERO ALAIN’ SPECIALS!)
(Yes I will always be salty about how Alain got treated.)
Well! Until next time!

it might be HIS SENIOR year but i still think RUNE NILS LOVIK looks exactly like HERMAN TOMMERAAS and sometimes i think the CIS MALE is actually them. of course i’m wrong , as he’s TWENTY FIVE and studying BUSINESS while living in POTENTAS here at lockwood. the ARIES can be rather BOLD and ALLURING , but also kind of RECKLESS and SUPERFICIAL his most played song on spotify this year was NARCISSIST by NO ROME FT. THE 1975 , so i think that says a lot.
PERSONALITY
element: fire ruling planet: mars — the planet of war & energy body part: head , face good day: energetic , encouraging , unstoppable , bold , devoted , caring bad day: proud , self centered , impulsive , bossy , stubborn , reckless , jealous favorite things: competitive games , new clothes , road trips ( in fast red cars ) , debating , expressing themselves through stunning verbal and physical feats , money , riches , fame , drugs , sex least favorite things: sharing their toys , being ignored , cramped spaces , losing , the word “no” , relationships , being tied down secret wish: to be number one how to spot him: high forehead , focused or manic energy , aggressive stance , toothy grin keywords: willpower , initiative , determination , passion , beginnings , self belief , self destruction
headstrong and determined , rune can be stubborn and willful. he has a tendency to dig in his heels , stand his ground and absolutely refuses to be pushed around.
he will butt his own metaphorical horns against the same obstacle until he break it down — often with the sheer force of will. confidently rune believes in himself and will champion others.
the essence of his energy shows up as encouraging , unstoppable , bold , devoted , and caring. in its shadow form , his energy can make him prideful , self centered , impulsive , bossy , stubborn , reckless and competitive. this fuckboy likes a challenge , but be careful because he can definitely be selfish and domineering.
like a match that lights the blaze , he can be a trailblazer and trendsetter. pioneering and innovative , rune leaps without looking and puts his bold ideas out there.
his ruling planet is warrior planet and energy activator mars. on a positive note , he is filled with unstoppable life force energy. the negative manifestation is that he can become argumentative , confrontational and aggressive at pretty much the drop of a hat.
he is a leader and “idea person” , prizing originality and being first in everything they do. he’s a trendsetter and trend spotter , the one who gets the party started and the crowd hyped. count on rune to initiate a winning idea or plan.
he tends to have a lot of energy , which he applies to everything from tackling supersized projects to unleashing his lusty libidos with a lover.
this confident fuckboy is known to leap before looking , diving into each new experience with a zest for life that few others can muster. he loves to be number one and can be an amazing trendsetter and trailblazer.
rune is a true original who inspires others. with all of his fire power and can do attitude , there’s nothing he can’t ( and won’t ) take on. at times , he can be selfish or overly focused on himself. it can be a “ blind spot ” for him , and friends of rune can try to gently remind him from time to time to share his toys.
this super rich kid was born with an innate sense of entitlement , which helps him shatter glass ceilings but can also be off-putting to people in extreme doses.
this go getter can come across as abrasive or overly aggressive. however , rune will never back down from a challenge and can be a heroic champion of anyone in distress.
being born the sole heir and only son of a wealthy family was bound to have some influence on a young man’s personality. rune is a super rich kid and to this day enjoys making it known.
his father taught him to declare his dominance and money makes you superior , right ? those who knew rune lovik when asked about him would have told you the boy has no time or room to care about anyone but himself , which for the most part is still the truth.
he is a firm believer that money can get you anywhere ( regardless of how you make it ) and that has always held true so he deals drugs now to keep up with his preferred lifestyle.
he has a hugeeeeee ego. honestly , you’ll probably choke on his pride , but there is some part of him that wants real love. the near constant pressure to uphold family reputation growing up , to be the perfect son ? sometimes it’s enough to make him crack on occasion. every break down has only made him push harder and has driven him further away from his family.
BACKSTORY
( tw: abortion ) born on a chilly spring night , march 21st , to one of the wealthiest families in stockholm , sweden. he was the first and the last , any unwanted pregnancies were aborted immediately. there was no need for anymore children , their heir to the fortune and family business already been birthed. an heir that was hardly a son , because a son would be loved but he was just an heir to be used.
rune was raised up by maids and nannies , because his parents weren’t around enough. it was a mostly loveless childhood except for the help he was close to , his innocence lost too soon.
the pressures of being the perfect son gripped him before he was old enough to even understand. if he could be what his parents wanted , would they love him then ? would they stay home ?
his youth was pretty successful , he begrudgingly became what was expected of him — the spitting image of his father. his years as a teenager were spent stealing bottles of wine , experimenting with illegal substances , joy rides in expensive cars , different faces in his bed. no one noticed , or they at least they pretended not to , and for the most turned a blind eye to his bad behavior but somewhere deep down maybe rune hoped someone would take the time to care.
( tw: gambling ment ) once he was old enough , he was included in the family ‘business’ which isn’t what made them rich but part of the reason they stay that way. lots of gambling and illegal shit that his father calls ‘business’ to make himself sound like a professional.
( tw: drug ment ) at first he doesn’t take to it , but he finds he likes to not only deal but do copious amount of drugs. it doesn’t hurt that he’s making some money on the side !!
( tw: drug ment ) rune goes to his father in interest of becoming an actual member of the gang in the hopes of dealing for them , but those dreams were shot down. a lovik dealing drugs like a petty criminal ?! not a chance in hell mr. lovik would allow that.
( tw: drug and alcohol ment ) his father was quick to forbid him from ever even considering such peasant activity. so , he kept to luxury items such as but not limited to: cars , designer clothes , sex , drugs , and booze. he didn’t mind returning to all of his expensive things and played his part like he always had.
most would never guess that his lifestyle might not be to his liking , that he questions everything , that real love is something he has always desired.
when you look at him you would see a boy that cares about two things: himself and money. he acts like he is the best to hide the fact that he feels unwanted , unloved , and used. he hid behind family pride for a long time , but it was a facade carefully kept.
a few years ago basically decided he was completely sick of living anywhere near his parents. he couldn’t do shit in stockholm without the public finding out and him ending up in the tabloids which just had his parents breathing fire down his neck for causing a stir. no shaming the family and the ‘business’.
so after applying to several different places in the states , he was able to get into lockwood and was quick to move out on his own.
( tw: drug ment ) he is a p decent drug dealer on campus , so if your muse does drugs of any sort chances are they or someone they know has gone through rune at least once or partied with him.
he doesn’t have any other source of income ( besides drug dealing and the money he gets from his parents for attending college for business ) outside of the occasional fight club shit he does for the heck of it. he’s a p good fighter and often wins money thanks to it.
SONG
super rich kids by frank ocean ft. earl sweatshirt — “ too many bottles of this wine we can’t pronounce , too many bowls of that green , no lucky charms. the maids come around too much , parents ain’t around enough. too many joy rides in daddy’s jaguar , too many white lies and white lines. super rich kids with nothing but loose ends , super rich kids with nothing but fake friends “

Warning to all you mers on Tumblr out there: The purge has officially begun. My account just got flagged, and the only things I have on here are my own event photos (which are all family-friendly & fully clothed), and mermaid art (both classical and new, some of which has an LGBTQ focus- and may, at times, *gasp* in some cases feature kissing). So.. just as a heads-up, the whole Tumblog censorship hubub is a real thing. My hope was that in a page FULL of mermaids, it would be obvious what the space was about- that it was absent of pornographic or ANY kind of child-endangering content, n’ be subsequently left alone. But it appears that’s not the case. So now that we know mer art is going to be targeted (after all, “NEKKIT BEWBIES, ER MAH GURD!!”), I suggest we all get ready to either defend our posts (via disputing flagged content), participate in some kind of (peaceful, preferably meaningful & artful) protest, or just leave the platform all together. 'Cause this tells me that they're not only flagging classical art, they're also trying to eradicate LGBTQ content, and NONE of that is okay. Personally, I’m going to do all 3. Fight and dispute, while making preparations to move my space elsewhere. Where that’ll be I’m not sure yet, but if we loose, I want a place for my mermaid stuff to go, and the demigods at Tumblr better be aware, I’m taking my decently-well-known bellydance n’ other blogs w/me too, if I’m forced to leave.
And just for my personal 2 cents on the matter? Dear gods, not ALL of the internet has to be child friendly. XP Censorship like that happening on YouTube, Facebook & now Tumblr stifles creativity (look at channels like Glam&Gore, who can’t barely do SFX makeup anymore because she keeps getting demonetized), silences valuable artistic and minority voices, removes audiences for burgeoning creators (who, btw, may NOT be engaging in pornographic content in ANY way), and forces narrow-minded, puritanical standards of "decency" (which are by FAR the minority), over others' ability to operate successfully in that medium. This smothers decent, AWESOME things like art, science, expression and SO much more. XS See, it’s not about the p0rn. It’s about the CENSORSHIP. This is the internet. It was designed to dispense and SHARE information, ideas, inspiration, fun, etc. Not be a surrogate nanny for your kids. XS
ANNNNYWAY, if you want to read more about what is and is not allowed on Tumblr now, you can visit: https://tumblr.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/231885248. (And be sure to read to the bottom, where users can find out how to appeal post & entire blog flags under the last 2 questions.) And if you have a mermaid blog where ANY kind of toplessness is involved, note that "female presenting nipples" is distinctly mentioned, which, as I'm sure lots of you already know, directly impacts classical AND modern art- one of the few things on Tumblr that can be shared WITHOUT a copyright, as well as a TON of mermaid art, classical and otherwise. XP
What does this mean? Well.. in simple terms, it means that stuff like Botticelli and Picasso are no longer welcome on Tumblr. It means that Reubens, Waterhouse and Rodin, if they have artistic interpretations of naked women in their work, cannot be shared on Tumblr. Even though their works are featured in international museums of the highest callibur, lauded all over the world as legends of innovation, vision, unparalleled beauty, & precision, expression & creativity, and world-famed for their social and economic value. Those.. are not welcome here now, apparently. Meanwhile, images & videos stolen from present-day & other modern hard-working artists, photographers, cartoonists, writers and other creators from allll over the world arrre hunky-dory. XP DaFUQ, Tumblr??? (At -least- they mention mis-attribution & non-attribution on their new guidelines now. That at least, is an improvement. X*)
But now.. let’s see how that’s directly affected my blog, shall we..? ‘Cause, as I mentioned before, I figured surely since I didn’t actually have any pr0n on my pages, I & other mer pages should be safe, right? BZZZZZZZT, WRONG. After getting this e-mail (pictured above), I went through my whole blog and found the 4 posts that were "flagged" as having adult content. *rolls eyes*
3 of them were reblogs &1 was an original post.
2 of those posts were queer-positive modern art.
1 was a photographic collection of pieces FEATURED IN "W" MAGAZINE,
And the last is a piece of classical style, queer-positive art. XS
One of the modern pieces doesn't even show nipples, just saggy bewbies COVERED with small seashells.
The other modern-style piece was a Rackham style drawing, where the tatas are but a mere suggestion of simple lines and dots.
One was shown in a INTERNATIONAL FRICKING FASHION MAGAZINE SPREAD, which was apparently suitable for SOMEONES' interpretation of public consumption,
and the last only shows suggestions & curvatures of breasts! (Showing the side and outer portions of the female chest, with no nipples. XP)
-And WHY AM I HAVING TO JUSTIFY THIS???? THIS IS ART. THIS IS NOT P0RN. Again I say "WTF, Tumblr????" XS
As you can see, 3 of my posts were reblogs, so I had no means of disputing those posts. (According to their new guidelines, the owner of the original post has to do that, and if they are found as having “inappropriate content,” there’s no further means of appeal.) But one of them, one of the very first posts I ever made in this blog, was an original, so I was able to refute its being deemed as inappropriate. FIrst, you have to go through allll of your posts to find.. whatever it is someone’s had issue with. (Whether it’s a person who’s flagged it or something chosen by Tumblr’s algorithms/keyword alert systems, I have no idea.) But they don't even bother to link you in your notification e-mail, so first you’ve gotta FIND what’s being flagged before you can repeal it. (I didn’t even know what I was looking for at first. They never specify. Would it be a tiny new icon near the Edit and Share buttons at the bottom? A wee little flag pointer, outside of the post itself..? Do I got to my posted page n’ try to find it? Or will it be in my Posts stream, & the whole post be red..? Who knows?) But eventually, after enough scrolling, I found what I was looking for. A big red bar across the affected posts. -And if it’s a post you can do something about, they give you a button to push on the designated "flagged" work, at the top right. After you hit the "dispute" button, you’re given a largely blank page. In the center, you get to choose between Dispute, Cancel or Learn More. No “tell us why you feel this should not be flagged, why it doesn’t violate our rules,” nothing. Nowhere to speak your peace. You just hit a button, and you’re done. You get no say, other than “I object, your honor!” NOT COOL, people. NOT COOL. You clearly don’t wanna hear the voices of your content creators, or, at least, enough to allow them to speak for the work they felt appropriate enough to post..
Reading this from another media source? Please don’t discount this issue if you don’t personally have a Tumblog. It doesn't really matter whether you use tumble or not, whether you think it's lame or not, etc. The problem is much, much larger than that, and it’s growing. This is another very large, social media platform that's being affected by censorship in the name of marketing- and thus, be child-friendly. They want the whole family to be able to come and see all the ads they wanna put here, and without that, they don’t make their money. So anything not child-friendly, even vaguely PERCEIVED as not child-friendly (by God only knows whose standards), is being wiped out from the whole platform. Don’t believe me? It’s happened on YouTube, on Facebook, and likely, many others. Do some googling and check it out for yourself. YouTube is a platform that’s being strangled by this phenomenon right this very second. There are videos on it. Go see. Now. ‘Cause if we don’t educate ourselves about this n’ do something to fight it, what’s happening to YouTube is our future. Not just here on Tumblr, but EVERYWHERE.
Big Brother isn't just watching, guys, he's stealing your open arenas for personal and creative expression, so he can better market to you & yer kids. He wants EVERYONE to buy his Stuff. And if the kids can’t see it here, they won’t ask mommy and daddy to go get it for them. So out classical art, and LGBTQ content, and mermaids go. Out the door. (Meanwhile, who do kids love?? UM.. MERMAIDS. HELLO!!! What should be educating them about history and the arts? UMM.. FINE ART, HELLO. Who teaches them about tolerance and diversity and SO MUCH MORE? Umm.. THE LGBTQ community! Who teaches them about what human bodies look like, and that it’s okay to have ANY kind of body? UM.. BODY POSITIVE ART, THANK YOU.)
We need to put the kaibosh on this somehow, now. Not just for Tumblr, or Facebook, or YouTube. We've got to find SOME way of letting the Big Boys know this is not activity we will tolerate. 'Cause the places to freely express ourselves are going to continue to diminish, get scarcer, and fewer.. until they're all.. gone.
ART =/= PORN, YOU IGNORANT, PURITANICAL, MONEY-GRUBBING FISHTITS. LEARN TO POLICE YOUR OWN CHILDREN, MORE EFFECTIVELY POLICE GENUINE CRIMINALS, AND LEAVE THE REST OF THE INTERNET ALONE. Please.

It was meant to be the final exhibition captivated at the Met Breuer — the Metropolitan Museum’s Brutalist-style accessory campus for avant-garde and abreast art back 2016, which was set to be angry over to the Frick Collection afterwards this year. But about anon afterwards the appearance opened on March 4, “Gerhard Richter: Painting Afterwards All,” like about every added cultural accident in the world, was affected to abutting its doors. But it’s the essays in the book’s aboriginal bisected that accommodate the bookish ambience and appraisal that museumgoers wouldn’t accept begin artlessly by account bank plaques. Buchloh, an art history assistant at Harvard, addresses the belief of Richter’s 2014 “Birkenau” paintings and the artist’s career-long captivation with apery the Holocaust. The Met babysitter Brinda Kumar dissects decades’ account of Richter’s landscapes, including a alternation alleged “Transformation” in which a snow-capped mountainscape becomes so absent it looks eerily like a sonogram. In his article “In a Glass, Darkly,” Princeton’s Hal Foster names the “tension” in Richter’s 1967 “4 Panes of Glass,” “between what we apperceive — there are four ample identical rectangles in advanced of us — and what we perceive.” Through this dissonance, Foster argues, in an apt arbitrary of Richter’s absolute oeuvre, the artisan “stages an about Cartesian agnosticism about ‘our alarm of reality.’”

ghost!minhyuk [REQUESTED]
so this is for the mx supernatural au anon
i’m doing vampires and werewolves later on so imma do ghost!minhyuk
okay so
he has absolutely no idea why he died
or why he’s a ghost for that matter
so he’s just literally been living through the people who live in the apartment he’s haunting
and he gets really invested in their lives but they can never see him
he always just helps them out
like when he helps that one nerdy tenant with his games
that tenant always wins the game if he plays in the apartment
and like he also helped the art major who ALWAYS almost drinks paint water
but he has these weird habits that creeps out the tenants
like he always sings with them in the shower
and they always leave bc they’re scared of him
poor bby
he’s been haunting your new apartment for 15 years now
and like no one has lived there for longer than 3 months
apparently they can hear weird singing in the shower at like 3 am
and since you are vv broke and the apartment is vv cheap, you were like what the hell
and you could feel something was wrong with the house even as you were checking it out but
cHEAP APARTMENT how does one pass that opportunity up?
plus, you got this neighbor named wonho who’s hot and hella ripped
soooooo, you don’t really mind. moving on
so when you moved in nothing was weird
like in your first day everything was so ordinary that you thought the land owner was just messing with you
like, there’s no flickering lights? it doesn’t get chilly at all? the picture frames don’t really move?
but really, you just spoke too soon
bc like, as you were getting ready for bed at like 1am bc you gotta hella stuff to do
you had a lot of dramas you needed to watch ok
so when you were having your shower jamming to mcr
you suddenly hear someone singing along with you
and it sounds good and you don’t really mind it until you realize that your neighbor wonho went out and there’s no one living on your other side bc your apartment is at the end of the hallway
and like the voice is male
and the floor below you is an old woman. the one above you is a college student who’s also a girl
so who are you having a duet with?
and your mildly creeped out bc holy shit is there a ghost in your apartment?
and we all know the answer is yes
so you try to calm your shaking hands and trying your hardest to pray bc that’s what your friend changkyun does when he’s gonna eat, when he’s scared, when he’s gonna study, when he’s going to cook bc he can’t cook for shit
your surprised by the ghost saying ‘you have an awesome music taste’
and you almost scream (keyword: ALMOST)
but then minhyuk covers your mouth and reveals himself
like ‘surprise? please don’t scream, halmeoni is sleeping downstairs.’
and you don’t scream because somehow this ghost? seems? really? nice? and also rlly attractive
and so he’s like ‘my name is minhyuk. im a ghost’
you: no shit sherlock.
but yeah
him: wait. you can see me?
you: dude. why would you talk to me in the first place? if you didn’t think i saw you?
him: uh it was an experiment. the old tenants can only hear me, that’s why they get scared. but you can see me right?
and you’re like: yeah
him: omg! im not dreaming right? tell me this is a dream!
you: idk you tell me
and you literally had a whole conversation with minhyuk about how long he’s been a ghost and if he knew about the hot neighbor
and you only realize that you were nude when minhyuk pointed it out
which ends up with both of you guys blushing
so he leaves the bathroom to give you time to fix yourself and contemplate if you’re leaving or not
and he lowkey doesn’t want you to leave bc you’re the first person who actually saw him and held a conversation with him
and he even paces back and forth outside of the bathroom while you’re dressing
and when you get out he’s like ‘i understand if you want to leave the apar-’
but you cut him off with a ‘nah, you may be a ghost but you seem aight. plus the apartment is cheap’
and he sMILES
and you sort of feel like every problem you had just resolved itself on its own
and his smile is so beautiful you just?
you can’t help but smile back at him
and its a hell of a ride from then on
you gain an alarm clock and a radio oh and a friend
he always wakes you up on time,,,,,,, but that doesn’t mean he does it nicely
he literally screams in your ears until you get up from your bed
and he always sings you to sleep aWWWWW minhyuk sing me to sleep pls
and he also watches rom com movies/dramas with you and you don’t even have to ask, he always asks you first
and he also says these really corny pickup lines from time to time
but he mostly says puns
he even picks out your outfit bc he has good fashion sense
AND TAKES PICTURES OF YOUR OUTFIT FOR YOU
and it’s almost like you have a boyfriend
and honestly, you don’t really mind. in fact you actually like it you like him you mean
because minhyuk is there to cheer you up when you’re sad
he’s there to sort of cuddle you when you feel like shit
and he’s there to make fun of you so things are interesting
and tbh he rlly likes it too he rlly likes you too
loves it even lOVES YOU
this boi is a romantic and he loves that even if he is a ghost, he still has someone to take care of
and sometimes you take care of him too
like he doesn’t need to be taken care of a lot bc he’s not exactly alive but, well, you treat him like he is
and it warms his heart when you share your blanket with him
and when you cook for two people even if you’re the only one eating
but it makes him sad because he’s just a ghost
and whatever it is that’s going on between the two of you, will never be real
because you’re human, and he feels bad that you’re stuck with him
so he comes up with a brilliant plan
and its shitty, but he thinks it’s for the best
!!!!!he sets you up with your neighbor wonho!!!!!
you don’t notice at first
like he secretly puts your mail with wonho’s so you’d interact
and you think its! just! a! coincidence!
so you start talking to wonho more and more
and it makes minhyuk jealous and sad at the same time
but he tells himself that you deserve better than some ghost
you even go on a date with wonho
but tbh, you just couldn’t feel anything with wonho
and even if you were out with wonho, it was like your heart and mind were somewhere else
all you could think of was, what was minhyuk doing? what would we talk about, if he was on this date with me?
and it dawns on you that you actually like minhyuk
so you apologize to wonho bc you really have to leave and you’re really sorry that you couldn’t make this work its just that your heart is already with someone else
and he just smiles and tells you to hurry up and tell the person you like
and you run home to find minhyuk crying to himself on your bed bc you’re together with wonho now
you can never be with him
and it breaks your heart
so you run to him and hug him with all your might and tell him you love him
and he just stares at you with tears running down his beautiful face
and you kiss each of them away while holding him by his cheeks

Babbles About: Same-Face Syndrome in works by experienced artists
Okay, so I didn’t want to write about this before because it might sound really pretentious (especially since my own art is mediocre at best) and I don’t mean to start up anything, but it’s been bothering me for a while now so I’ll try to keep a neutral tone throughout the post (keyword here being “try”). Anyway, here it goes:
TL;DR: Same-Face Syndrome ruins good art, is particularly obvious in fanart and artists should avoid it like the plague.
Long version:
There are some art styles that are undeniably aesthetically pleasing. I can spend minutes just staring at those and absorbing the whole thing into my brain detail by detail while trying to figure out which techniques the artist used. They are truly amazing. However, I’ve been noticing a trend that’s particularly prominent in those semi-realistic almost 3D-like anime-esque paintings which are mainly used for character portraits, which is how unique physical features from different characters (i. e. face, nose and eye shape, lip thickness etc.) are completely thrown out the window in favour of looking pretty. And they do indeed look really fricking awesome, I’m not saying they don’t, but it can be really obvious when an artist suffers from Same-Face Syndrome – and it especially shows in fanart. It bothers me more than it should when I look at a painting that’s really well-made of a character I really like, and I can’t even recognize said character unless the artist points it out. Just like reading a well-written fanfic with a great premise, but the characters all act, well… out of character, gorgeous character art with generic features just feels so wrong to see.
Now, I don’t blame the artist for this. I myself am still stuck in some artistic habits and traps I can’t get myself out of. I’m also not talking about styles or techniques – I’m not new to this world; I’ve seen artists with similar styles who can take a character from a show and pull off some wicked fanart in a completely different style than the original, and still have it be crystal clear who that person is supposed to be. This text is about that kind of art that is really freaking gorgeous from a technical standpoint, but pictures what’s supposed to be completely different characters wearing the same “devoid of all emotion” expression and so eerily similar the artist might as well have copy-pasted the lineart and only changed the colours. It’s never intentional and borders on the uncanny valley at times. It needs to stop, for the benefit of the artists themselves. They need to grow out of it and be able to draw different things in different ways. There’s a bunch of tutorials to add variety to character design, it’s very easy to find one that helps.
Yikes, this got harsh. Sorry, I didn’t mean to become so angry about it. Like I said, it’s not that the art itself is bad. It’s just that, when Same-Face Syndrome hits, it sucks all individuality out of the character pictured in that art. So like, if you’re an artist who focuses more on painting techniques and details and making your art look aesthetically pleasing above everything, please give character design the proper attention needed to make your art both beautiful, unique and, in the case of fanart, familiar.
#i keep seeing these anime-ish paintings of female characters i really love#and they all look like bratz characters#i look at the art and go like ''that's not my baby''#add variety to your art kids#learn early on#babbles about art

The Unusual (but Important) Combination of Creative Fulfillment and SEO
This year on Copyblogger, each month has a theme — and in March, it’s search engine optimization.
That’s great news for some of you, and terrible news for others. If you’d rather eat a bug than think about SEO, you and I have much in common. On Monday, I wrote about some solid SEO advice that won’t have you contemplating a heaping bowlful of breakfast crickets.
I also gave you some simple, “you-can-totally-do-this” suggestions on Copyblogger FM. And on The Digital Entrepreneur, Sean Jackson and Jessica Frick talked with SEO wizard Eric Enge about how search optimization has matured over the years and why it’s still important.
On Tuesday, Beth Hayden gave us a little gentle, user-friendly advice on keyword research. Finding your keyword phrases shouldn’t be a robotic process — it’s really about learning more about your audience and how they think.
Everyone on the editorial team has decided that Stefanie Flaxman won the week, with a Loverboy headline reference on Wednesday, combined with the subhead “The eye-roll heard round the world.” Well-played, Stefanie. This is a great post, too, about why writing actually is a pretty cool and amazing thing to do with your life.
Today we also published a new pair of Content Challenge prompts! These are exercises we do together as a community to get better at what we do … and more productive so we can make more great things happen.
Keep those creative thoughts flowing, and don’t overdo it on the breakfast crickets …
Hey, and don’t forget — tomorrow is the last day to try out StudioPress Sites with a free introductory month. You can click this link to get started, but the free month deal will go away Friday (tomorrow) at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
