Here's the thing though. The people who say they saw Jon watching them in their dreams didn't say anything about a monster version of him with glowing eyes or many eyes or floating or whatever.

I love a good monster Jon design but just think THINK about how scary it is that he isn't. You met a fairly normal guy once and you told him the worst thing that ever happened to you. Now that man is there staring blankly while you suffer, over and over. You don't understand why it's happening. There's nothing you can do. The man is still out there, somewhere.

I really adore when Jonathan is shown to have some nuggets of humanity. I love when despite how twisted he can be, there is still some vague goodness inside him. Like how he would love to return to academia in Batman Adventures. I love that complexity and I wish newer iterations would explore it more. I like the duality of Jonathan fighting between that and his love of fear. I would love to see him in more vulnerable states as he clearly hasn’t gotten over his childhood. I wanna see that man cry, although he’d probably try not to.

Season 4 Jon has been on my mind a lot.

Jon's not okay he's back from the dead, the world's gone on without him, and he's more isolated than we've ever seen him (season 2 was self impossd this is something different hes being cut off).

His lesser of two evils boss that was guiding him refuses to see him, Tim is dead, Martin also refuses to see him and is pained when they do talk. Basira only wants to look out for herself, and his relationship with Georgie and Melanie is damaged.

He's realizing he's not human, with abilities that are only considered useful when getting information (killing Breakon), but are regarded as a disturbance or annoyance literally any other time. Everyone continues to tell him how much they hate he can know things to the point where his Eye powers have people wondering if he should've even come back and that has to fucking hurt.

Dude's dealing with survivors guilt, stigma, social isolation, more trauma, literally a plethora of effects that lead to a lot of psychological damage and no one think the guy is even human? When what he needs most is support?

Also thank you as always to @buried-in-the-archives for yapping with me about this while I relistened to season 4.

I actually can’t count how many times I’ve listened to ‘Nerdy Prudes Must Die’ just to hear him sing (and also to hear Jon sing “I’m not a loser” cause let’s be honest fucking chills everytime!!!)… it’s probably my favourite track on the album
