Brennan: "Let's do any Mystery rolls that we have here at the very end."

Emily: "I have a mystery thing I wanna do."

Brennan: "Cool."

Emily: "I basically want to- if we can't do it on campus, I don't have to do it on campus. I can do it around the town. I basically want to disguise myself as various eligible high schoolers and probe about Ruben's dating past."

Brennan: "Oh-hooo! Go ahead and gimme a Mystery roll. This is your third roll, so the DC's 15, but successes past a certain point will get you even more. You can give me Perception, Investigation, or Insight."

Emily: "All right, I think the goal is that I was gonna try and use my Actor feat, but okay, I'll do that."

Brennan: "I'll let you use the Actor feat to get advantage, but not to use your Performance skill. Cool?"

Emily: "Okay." *rolls dice* *scoffs*

Brennan: "You could take a stress." (Why is he so evil?! 😭✋)

Emily: "I'll take a stress. I'm gonna take a stress."

Lou: "You can take a stress."

Emily: "I want this."

Ally: "Ah, a stress pusher."

Lou: "You could take a stress."

Emily: *rolls dice* "That's 19."

Brennan: "That definitely passes. You ask about Ruben's-"

Emily: "And like, I wanna go through all of his lyrics and basically get a profile of what he might be attracted to."

Brennan: "You talk to a student. There's a Triton student at Aguefort whose name is Lashra. And you see she says like,"

Lashra: "Oh, Ruben's dated a lot of people. Like, he's in everyone's DMs. He's, like, constantly talking. I haven't heard anything that's, like, that gross beyond, like, what you would expect for someone who, like, got famous quickly."

Fig: "Yeah, no, I meant more like, does he have a type?"

Lashra: "I would say anyone who thinks he's cool, straight up. I haven't seen like a strong type. Oh! He talked a lot about this girl at the beginning of the year, Wanda."

Fig: "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I heard she's super hot and mysterious."

Ally: "Wanda Childa?!"

Lashra: "Yeah. Oh! He asked me if I knew if Wanda was gonna be at Frosty Fair."

Fig: "Okay. That's crazy. I'm so jealous of Wanda."

Lashra: "Yeah, he was like, 'I hope she's there.' 'Cause he's- I dunno if you heard, he's headlining."

Fig: "Is he?"

Lashra: "Yeah, he's headlining at Frosty Fair."

Fig: "Interesting."

Lashra: "Mm-hmm."

Fig: "Cool"

Emily: "So I wanna use that information to...I took the Dream spell and I wanna, just every night, give him dreams of Wanda."

(Ally laughing 😂😂)

Emily: "Just dreams of Wanda saying how good he is. Dreams of like-"

Ally: "You're invading a teenage boy's dreams. Inserting your alter-ego."

Emily: "My alter-ego."

Brennan: "My alter-ego."

Murph: "Alter-emo." 😂😂

Ally: "Alter-emo!"

Emily: "I think it's like- who did 'Tree of Life?' Like, Terrence Malick, kind of flashbacky. Her in fields."

Brennan: "Yeah."

Emily: "Her showing him her poetry tattoos, her putting hair behind her ear. It's just, like, everything is montages of that."

Brennan: "So you're incepting Ruben with Wanda Childa."

Emily: "Like a buildup of this crush on Wanda Childa."

Brennan: "Incredible. You successfully do that."

Siobhan: "Why is she always under a white sheet?"

Emily: "It's always like, yeah. It's always over her shoulder, like that Instagram travel."

(Siobhan and Ally laughing)

Lou: "Your mouth is talking, but it's just the sound of waves crashing."

Zac: "She's on the end of a pier?"

Emily: "Yeah. It moves in and out."

Siobhan: "Are there piers? Aren't we in a landlocked city?"

Emily: "Just like, her in the passenger seat doing this in the window."

Ally: "omg."

Brennan: "Incredible. Like a week after that, a single hits the thing of 'Not All Who Wanda Are Lost.'"

(Emily, Zac and Siobhan laughing)

Ally: "omg." 😂😂

Brennan: "Incredible."

Preparing to head out with Shuu for a picnic in the woods. You work on making both human and ghoul recipes together so you can enjoy the eating part of the picnic equally

While heading out to the picnic spot you notice a swan gliding gracefully across a little pond. The pond is just wide enough to create a gap in the canopy, allowing a ray of sun to beam over the pond. You point it out to Shuu and say he reminds you of the swan. He says that if he was the swan, then you would be the ray of light dancing over its head.

The picnic spot is an abandoned gazebo resting by a creek and a field of wildflowers. The two of you sit down on the cold stone floor of the gazebo and Shuu pulls out the picnic rug. You pull out the picnic basket and start laying out some of the food you made together; Lightly toasted skin buttered with lard and ovary eggs, fruit-filled scones with homemade fig jam, smoked cuts of arm meat and some assorted vegetables from Shuu’s garden. You enjoy the picnic together and spend the rest of the afternoon frolicking in the flower fields and listening to the gentle bubble of the creek.

Omg where to even begin? I love the idea of making food together! Imagine doing it in ur lil cottage kitchen together, with the sun shining through the windows, plants everywhere, putting little jars in the picnic basket and stuff! 🥰🥰🥰

And then walking to the picnic spot, holding hands and maybe singing together! Wearing flowing dresses too ofc!!

It’s funny, bc I have always thought of Shuu as a bit swanlike. He has like. A bird’s elegance, if that makes sense. I saw a swan flying earlier today, they’re so majestic 🥰

I also know a spot that’s a bit like an abandoned gazebo! There’s like, a few table sets next to a river near where I live. The sets are white but they look all covered with moss. There are trees around the area, so it’s shaded, but the sun can shine through some days. I’ve always wanted to go there and drink tea, but idk how to get there! I imagine Shuu would like it there too.

I wonder what picnic blanket Shuu would like. A traditional check or maybe something a bit funky? I think he’d have picnics for the aesthetic, so probably the traditional kind!

I love the sound of the food too! Fig jam sounds so good 😫😫 Maybe some jam tarts too, and for Shuu, some kind of pâte? Also, I’m an olive lover unfortunately, so I’d bring them. Shuu could have pickled eyes or something? Also for toast, Shuu could have bone marrow or something! Like, maybe instead of a traditional cheeseboard, he’d have an array of different spreads!

And maybe wine! Wine would be a must, if it got too late maybe. You could watch the sunset, listen to the crickets and drink some spiced wine!

Ahhh and it would be amazing to spend the day frolicking with him. Hehe. Imagine making daisy chains and paddling in the stream, hunting for frogs and stuff. Identifying wild flowers, then taking them home to press!

Maybe he’d bring a book and sit under a tree to read. Perhaps something light and cheerful, my immediate thought is Wind In The Willows. I love that story 😌

Also maybe this is just me, but maybe some Beatrix Potter? They remind me of summer. I don’t remember much of my childhood tho, but I remember they were abt little animals, and my grandmother has the complete collection of them. The main one I remember is the frog - Jeremy Fisher!

I could see Shuu being the type to bring huge books on day trips out. It would be so nice to listen to him read, the stream and birds in the background. It sounds so peaceful and sleepy - I imagine that must be what it feels like to be a rabbit in summer. Now I’m thinking abt Watership Down.

Come to think of it, maybe Shuu would like it more. It’s a bit dark and grim, but it’s all abt countryside and rabbits on their adventure. Perhaps Shuu would read Watership Down as it gets later in the evening? Then he’d stop and you’d both stay there, watching the sunset, holding hands and stroking each other’s hair.

The stars would come out and you’d try to name constellations. Perhaps doing that would make you fall asleep right there in the wilderness, under the stars. It sounds a bit scary, but Shuu would be there, and honestly it’s not like anything else poses much of a threat with him there.

Then you could either wake up in the dead of night and crawl back home, or just stay there together and wait for the sun to rise.

That would be such a perfect day 😌😌😌

Oh how that snack of rosemary crackers with fig paste and cream cheese give me the feelings of summer! I actually first tried them last summer on quite the muggy day!

With what you said about homemade sweets as a love language, you're absolutely right! That kind of gesture really does mean a lot to someone, even if they aren't a potential lover. I have so many fond memories of loved ones baking sweet things for me, and they've always carried connotations of family and warmth. Although my loved ones and I often don't have time to bake as much these days, even just sharing things like cake and pastries means a lot.

I can't help but wonder what Inupi would do during the festive season? But I like to think he enjoys the feeling of home that reader brings him when the weather gets cold. Just imagine little fairy lights around the house, knitted sweaters and Christmassy sweets around that tiny table. Bonus points for exchanging kisses and gifts and cuddling under a checker print blanket 😭

Bonten and the Haitanis on the other hand... The holiday season could either go somewhat well or burn into chaos and hellfire, courtesy of Sanzu being a harbinger of drama and Takeomi managing to set the Christmas tree on fire 😭 somebody's probably had their hand stabbed at Christmas dinner because someone "missed the turkey" when cutting it. Don't even get me started on the Haitani tension, but hey, what's Christmas dinner without a little family drama?

But if all is somewhat functional a Bonten Christmas gathering could be a civil, fancy dinner with everyone dressed in something red or green with that oldie Christmas jazz in the background. No guarantees for that outcome though.

But I digress, I snorted at that image of an idea just becoming a vibe when you're thinking of a story, and it reminds me of the whole stream of consciousness method where you just allow your thoughts to dictate where the story goes and all these ideas sprout from the one initial idea! In all honesty, I could go on for hours about characters and all this lore in my stories but once it comes down to actually writing the story my brain just short circuits.

I hope both your academic and fic writing is going well! I remember you said you had a fair bit to catch up on but I believe in you!

I am SO SORRY for taking so long to reply - I was not feeling so hot (still not 100%) and did not have anything fun to say except that I spent a large majority of my time horizontal and watching nature documentaries - do you enjoy a good doccie? what kind?

!!! sharing baked goods is such a lovely way to tell someone you thought about them, especially if they like a specific treat! Baking is such an important thing for me, as it was an activity i shared with my grandmother, and I have this goal to master all of her recipes.

I feel like Inupi would spend the holidays either with Draken or by himself. I just see him sitting with Draken in the workshop, drinking hot chocolate and listening to terrible Christmas songs over the little crackly radio. Just quietly working on the bikes, maybe working on their own vehicles, Draken doesn't know that he's humming, but he is, badly. Maybe later they'll go out for drinks later with the other old Toman boys, maybe grab a meal at the twins' restaurant, but Inupi is always quiet, a background character to the larger-than-life personalities of all the other men. He'll leave a bit early and ride his bike through the silent snowy backstreets. Inupi is used to his own company, and sometimes it just gets too much, and he needs to get out, get away, and just be himself.

BUT in the wisteria world, Inupi has you! for the first time, he has someone special for the holidays. He isn't spending the holidays shivering beneath thin blankets in juvie, breaking into abandoned houses with Koko to find somewhere warm to sleep, or getting his ass handed to him in a church because his boss is an abusive monster. Now he's spending the holidays in your cosy little flat, cuddled up to you and watching whatever movies you want. He'll try help with cooking, but don't expect much, poor boy has never had a home, he never learned how to look after himself in that sort of way. If you spend the holidays with your family, Inupi will come along, but he won't be entirely comfortable. he doesn't know how families work? He doesn't know how to charm your mom and win over your dad, so expect a very quiet and nervous Inupi (but your family loves him! he's so sweet and polite! and he adores you!).

So the holidays have become something incredibly special to Inupi, solely because of you. I really rambled here.. sorry..

as for writing... the academic writing is coming along smoothly. I keep arranging writing sessions and that helps with getting all the 'intelligent' words out. As for fic writing, well, that's always up to chance. I'm hoping to get at least two pieces out this week, probably the second part of the Takeomi fic and maybe part one of Taiju, but we will see! I'm still chasing thoughts about a Hanma one shot, dunno if that's gonna happen hmm

A very Bonten Christmas.. oh god... at least the food would be good (if you get a chance to eat it!) My advice is, stick to sitting with Mikey, because if anything comes between Mikey and his food, there will be hell to pay. Bonus! you get a soft and sleepy Mikey who snuggles up on your lap once the meal is finished, and everyone will respectfully leave you alone. Kakucho, Mochi and Takeomi are also good Christmas/holiday companions, Mochi being the best. Mans will just sit and chill with you, no fuss, no drama. Kakucho might be a bit of a mess, as snow/the winter season is obviously full of memories of Izana, but Kaku will still make an effort for the holiday time to be special, even if he is sniffling every once in a while.

as for family drama... I don't think it's gonna be the Haitanis - although they definitely drink way too much and end up "play-fighting" in the living room and nearly bring down the tree. My money is on the Akashis making Christmas awkward. Sanzu probably takes too many pills and says something about Senju and then bam, Bonten's Advisor and Bonten's Number Two are at each other's throats.. how... fun?
