I never miss a chance to retell this amazing Moebius tidbit adventure!!! 😁😁😁 ••• Repost @off_da_wall_comics: Just watched the recent @cartoonist.kayfabe/#CartoonistKayfabe vid wherein they were rapping on their 1st #Moebius comic joints and wanted to share my little literal elbow brush with the legend... ••• As remembered by Jeaux Janovsky/@jeauxj: "One of my prized possessions is another #Cartoonist's #BusinessCard. A few years ago, I was on the #Disney lot for a free preview of #Tangled (this was about 2010 when Moebius was a guest artist at the #CTNAnimationExpo that year.) Who comes sitting RIGHT next to me? #JeanGiraud aka Moebius. I was literally rubbing elbows with a #SciFi #Comic #Legend! To tell you the truth, I hardly paid attention to the film, I kept sneaking side glances at Moebius enjoying the film and giggling to myself like a little schoolgirl. When the film ended I introduced myself and asked him to sign the only piece of paper I had on me. Another artist's business card. So he drew on it for me, and autographed it. He complimented the brush pen I had and said, "Goodbye Scott! Good luck!" Lesson learned: always keep your own business cards handy. Finally finished my #businesscardart, had to think of something to best show what I do and #painted #hazel #painting a #brickwall with my #wretneck #logo; and her just painting whatever around it. Quite honestly this one has exhausted me, choosing a medium with a brand of #paint that wouldn't work with me. I've used #gouache in the past and still mix it with my #watercolor, but the Reeves brand is cheap for a reason- opaqueness varies and the color fades when it dries. This could be an entirely synthetic outfit—stretchy lycra leggings, polyester fleece, rayon t-shirt —but because my imagination is easily upgraded and I’m concerned about microfibers, I’m going to say instead that these are natural materials: a sweater of bulky cotton yarn (inside of a Yogi tea box), wool knit pants—mostly black with occasional goldthreads (Italian chocolate bar wrapper), and a silk shirt (defunct Yugoslavian money)—renewable resources that breathe, and biodegrade.  It’s only been a couple of years since the science has arrived on the scene—synthetic textiles release microscopic fibers every time they’re washed, and those tiny bits and threads are accumulating in our environment, in the ocean, in our water, in the food chain, inside us.  We humans have a long way to go to clean up our act. But it starts with knowledge and imagination—if we can envision a better world, we can build it. The biz cards you don't throw away... ••• The great #Moebius died 10 years ago today. It feels as if it was just yesterday, but also feels like a lifetime away. Time is funny like that. I made these scrap paper fashions on the backs of old business cards. I dug them out today for a friend who wants to purchase a few to give as gifts (I’ve been selling them $20 each—DM me if you want one, I haven’t bothered yet to list these in my shop). I’m thinking now that I should make a bunch more of these and print posters of the full collection, maybe a 100 or so total?
