Finders Givers | Part 1
“—But maybe someday when my ship comes iiiin~ She’ll understand what kinda guy I’ve been, an then I’ll win”
“Chrriiiisss!!” Eddie whined as he tossed himself onto his front, burrowing his head under the pillow
“And when she’s waaalkin, she’s loookin, so FI-I-IIIINE!!”
“CHRIS!!” It was no use, she couldn’t hear him. Too busy belting out Billy Joel in their little kitchenette at… he shoved his pillow aside, realising it was a fruitless endeavour to try and block out the dying cat that was his roommate.
They’d gotten in at just gone two in the morning after blowing the very last of their ‘rainy day’ fund on ten for two dollar shots at a local student haunt, and now it was… ten in the morning, they didn’t have jobs left to get ready for, he still hadn't been able to find his wallet anywhere.
And Chrissy was. Singing.
As if they didn’t have to start job hunting again or risk the fury that was their greasy landlord and his mission to extort them of all their hard earned money. They’d be out on their asses by months end if they didn’t find something soon and the band wasn’t raking in as much cash as he’d have liked for it to be raking in.
Last he heard some big shot was looking to buy the Hideout too, probably shut them down for good. That’d be just their luck.
“An when she’s TAAALKIN she’ll say that she’s MI-I-IIINEE!” He threw his covers off, accepting defeat. At least it smelled like eggs and bacon, so she was clearly cooking the last of their breakfast foods.
Chrissy was of course in her sleep shirt, legs bare, with naught but slipper socks to keep her toes cosy on the tile floors of their kitchenette, swaying to the vinyl player belting out Billy Joel by the open window. Many a man’s fantasy come true, Chrissy was a vision while lost in her favourite music, but to him, Eddie Munson resident flaming homosexual, okay she was still beautiful he had eyes, but those leggy legs and swaying hips didn’t do it for him, thanks. “CHRISS!!”
And she jumped, barely managing to save the bacon from winding up as a sacrifice to the dastardly floor gods. Whipping around to face him, she graced him with the signature Chrissy ‘sunshine smile’ which… didn’t track for the killer hangover she ought to have had given she had three rounds of those shots all in that tiny-ass body of hers.
“Eddieee!!”
“Chrisssyyyy, what’cha doin, Chriss?”
“Breakfast! And Billy Joel!”
“I see that, at… ten in the morning, after student night!” They weren’t students, Chriss could pass for one though “Whaaat’s going on?”
“Letter! The letter, on the top there, read it!” And she was turning her back again hips swaying, moving the foods over to two plates, the only two they currently had clean, oof, it was his turn on dishes, damn what he wouldn’t give for a dishwasher.
Curiosity piqued, he crossed the short distance (it wasn’t a large apartment) and plucked up the neatly tri-folded piece of paper, letterheaded with a real fancy SH logo, a business address and corporate phone number, the letter reading,
“Dear Tenant” he didn’t do inner voices, he had to read it out loud “This is to inform you that as of the week commencing June 12th the building will be under… under new… new ownership?!” He looked up, eyes wide with alarm.
“Keep reading!!” She prompted as if predicting his alarm, she wasn’t even looking at him, clearly jazzed about something, new ownership? The building had been sold from under them and she was happy? He looked back at the paper.
“At this time, we will be… suspending… suspending?” She nodded, turning with two plates in her hand to their tiny little table that Wayne had donated when they moved in “suspending your required rent payments as we… look toward renovating the building and all apartments within.”
“Keep reading, there’s more!” He sat down at his usual chair, paper held in both hands, eyes fixed to the print as he read.
“Any rent arrears accrued in the duration of the building renovations will be… hold up—”
“Yep.”
“You’re joking.”
“Nope, not joking, it’s official I called them this morning, took me ages to get through to someone but it’s legit, Eddie.”
“But—but shit like this—this doesn’t happen Chriss, and you know what the Police said that one time you got scammed, right? If it seems too good—” he was still looking at that word, that one little word that made all the difference.
“Then it’s probably too good to be true! I know, I know, but I got the confirmation from their office, I GOOGLED the number too, I didn’t just call the one on the letter cause I know scams can get’cha that way.” Although what kind of scam it could be was baffling as it wasn’t asking for money it was saying they wouldn’t be asking for money for a while “sobered my ass right up let me tell you, best hangover cure in the world, and Mrs Jablonski next door got one too! And Dottie across the hall, I’m pretty sure I heard upstairs yelling earlier, an I mean like happy yelling, not yelling yelling like usual. Cheering! I think it’s legit, Eddie…”
“So… we just… we don’t have to pay rent, at all… for however the fuck long these renovations take to happen? Do we have an expected completion date to these renovations? Or start date?”
“Nope, just a from week commencing, the lady on the phone had no idea about them but she got the confirmation from ‘upstairs’ and just said there’d be more information sent to us eventually and not to worry about it.”
“Not to worry—not to worry about it?” He wanted to worry about it, every fibre of his being demanded he worry about it. Not that they could even pay rent if it was asked for, they had no money and no jobs after he’d decked their line manager for calling Chrissy fat, she was not fat, and she’d only just stopped staring at herself in the mirror as if every inch of her was wrong. She’d passed the month mark since she‘d last forced herself to throw up. She was finally getting some plump back into her cheeks.
She was on the mend. She was recovering. And he’d just—Eddie had seen red. He just wished he’d have been wearing his rings at the time.
“You can call them if you want!” She spoke around a mouthful of sunny side up eggs. “I think whatever it was, was a really random decision high up, like… it wasn’t something decided upon by a board of directors or anything because she took a while to get confirmation about it, but—but I dunno Eddie, maybe… maybe things can be good for a while.” They wouldn’t have to panic about getting jobs.
Wouldn’t have to deal with grease trap Carl the guy who collected their rent every month who seemed to just… always be greasy. Hands, hair, face, clothes. Who’d look at Chrissy like she was a piece of meat, or make disgusting comments about how lucky Eddie was to live with her, while she was stood right there holding Eddie’s arm back stopping him from launching at the guy.
Wayne had offered to run the guy over one time “Would be a one an done, son, would catch him at just the right time as he left the place an be gone just as fast, wouldn’t even know I was there.” Like a grade A parent, with all the gold stars available at the local craft store. But Eddie could deal with Carl.
They wouldn’t have to anymore though. If this was legit, it meant Carl was gone. No more Carl.
“…Screw calling them, I think we should go down there and see what’s up.”
“M’kay, but eat your damn breakfast that’s the last of the maple bacon an you got the bigger piece.” If he immediately traded the bigger piece on his plate for the smaller one on hers, well… she only smiled over it, she liked the maple kind more than him anyway.
Or so he'd told her.

First Impressions
Coming home from another exhausting day, Lydia threw herself onto her couch and screamed into a cushion.
“Hey Lyd,” her husband Carlos said as he came into the living room. Chewing on some leftover chocolate cake from the fridge, he sat down on the other side of the sofa, taking one more bite and swallowing before asking, “‘nother rough day?” The crumbs were probably all over the living room by now… to Lydia's immense chagrin.
“The hell do you think?” said Lydia, the pillow muffling her voice. She looked up and glared at her annoying beloved. “More asshole clients not interested in my business proposals for like the 12th time this week, motherfuckers that lose any and all interest as soon as they hear my voice over the phone, and every smug prick that landed a deal just telling me, ‘Just work hard, this is a meritocracy! Nobody thinks less of you cuz you’re a woman.’” She made sure to put on her ‘bro-voice’ as she regurgitated the same garbage everyone of her male peers that managed to keep getting sales said to her.
“Damn, I’m sorry honey.” Carlos shifted over and began to massage her back. Lydia let out a low moan as Carlos worked his magical hands once more. The knots in her back slowly untangled and her head began to clear. It was so difficult to think with all the stress causing her head to turn all soupy. “I just wish there was something I could do.”
“... There is something I’ve been thinking about.”
“Oh?”
“You’re on vacation starting tomorrow, right? Three weeks?”
“Yeah…?”
“Nothing. Forget I said anything.” Carlos continued asking, but Lydia insisted nothing was wrong. She also had to make sure that she would get out of work after just a few more days. All she needed to do was meet with a few more clients and they could enjoy the summer together.
Carlos still seemed incredulous, but eventually he relented and walked back to his office. “You’re the best, honey,” said Lydia before he shut the door behind him. Carlos looked over his shoulder and beamed at her with a loving glint in his eyes. Because of his job as a programmer and debugger, most of his work could be done at home. The rest of his time was spent taking care of some errands that Lydia was either too tired or simply hated doing (mainly cooking and taking care of any bugs or spiders).
It also made it convenient whenever Lydia needed to take a break from herself, without his knowledge of course.
The rest of the day was spent recuperating from the day’s stress. A few rhythm game rounds and a scalding hot shower was enough for Lydia to regain her upbeat and chipper personality. Around midnight, the two of them cuddled in the bed.
They had been married for months, but somehow holding each other beneath the sheets never got old. In fact, it somehow got more personal and intimate with the passing months. Light kisses on skin, stroke and caressing flesh that smelled like home, and the faint yet steady heartbeat never failed to relax Lydia’s mind and allow her to comfortably slip into a lengthy slumber.
Tonight was the sole exception.
“Mind if I’m the big spoon this time?” Lydia whispered to a half-asleep Carlos. Opening just one tired eye, Carlos just mumbled something and nodded before flipping over. Lightly tittering to herself, Lydia wrapped her arms around Carlos and squeezed him tight. She rubbed her face against his back and took a whiff. Chestnuts--the scent of his favorite conditioner. Lydia was truly glad she had introduced such a world of bathroom supplies to him.
“You’re the perfect man,” Lydia muttered, her voice muffled as she buried her face into the space between his neck and shoulder. “You won’t remember, but I almost feel bad for doing this.”
Carlos was barely even able to let out a questioning hum before Lydia’s body began to slip inside of him. Carlos let out a gasp as his body tightened in response to the sensual penetration. It wasn’t too dissimilar to the first time Lydia had pegged him. “Huh—! Whu—! Oh…WOAH!"
Lydia didn’t stop her possession. She thrust into Carlos, her petite yet rotund form slipping into Carlos’s thinner and hairier body. Carlos let out muffled moans as she shoved his face into a pillow with her free arm. He could do nothing as Lydia humped her hips further into his own fatter and hairier hips. His legs kicked and convulsed on the bed as he could hardly struggle.
“I love you, Carlos,” Lydia whispered, licking his sweaty neck. “I just need to borrow you for a few…” She nibbled on his ear lobe. Most of her legs had already melted into his. Not too long afterward, she pushed her chest into his own. She giggled at the sound of Carlos’ long, drawn-out moans as her boobs became replaced with his pectorals. “It’s nice being a man from time to time. So big and hairy…” she muttered to him.
Carlos’ continued to moan, breathing deeply as Lydia fucked herself into him. Soon, she was comfortable enough to drop her free arm and force it into his own. “Haah…! Haaahh… you’re a kinky one, Lyd…” he said in between fast, tense moans.
“I know, baby,” she said, half her head already phasing through his wider back. “I know.” As the last of Lydia melded into Carlos, he let out a long moan and collapsed onto his back. His hips thrust into the air over and over as Lydia acclimated herself inside of him. Each limb was dangerously full.
“HAAAH! H-Holy shit… I-I’m… I’m--!” Then, with one last hump, Carlos’ cock exploded all over his boxers. “Ahh… Ahh… J-Just… Just do whatever you want, babe…” he said in between labored pants as he lost consciousness. Although it felt like a completely new experience, it was truly the third or fourth time this had happened. And just like the previous times, Carlos would believe that it was just a strange and hazy dream from a mind that needed to be a little more open to experimenting in the bedroom.
At least, that was what Lydia would tell him.
Speaking of…
Lydia let out a moan as she felt her borrowed muscles and the familiar weight of Carlos’ body. She stretched her toned and hairy limbs with a little giggle. It wasn’t fair that Carlos always got to feel like that whenever he woke up. It was part of the reason why Lydia would always rub up against him in the morning. She just couldn’t get enough of the muscle and hair. However, as the giddiness of yet another successful possession began to wear off, Lydia found herself yawning and slowly drifting off to sleep. Taking over another’s body always took quite a bit of energy, for both the possessor and the host body.
Tomorrow was a new day for Lydia.
“Great, glad to hear it!” Lydia said with Carlos’ deep and friendly voice as she spoke to her fourth client.
“And I’ll follow this meeting up with an email with more details of the deal. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm,” she said, giving Carlos’ cock a nice and firm stroke. None of her clients had any idea that the man they were speaking to was Lydia’s husband. Being able to roleplay and pass off as her husband to these strangers, knowing that she was able to fool these sexist pigs that would’ve sneered and turned up their noses at just the sound of her voice, light up Lydia’s borrowed loins. “Thank you so much for your time and have a great day!” Lydia forced Carlos to say before hanging up.
She threw Carlos’ head back and let out a loud, unbecoming moan as her borrowed cock grew to full mast in her grip. She threw an arm back and took a whiff of Carlos’ natural musk. “Mmm, Carlos. Just another day of me inside and we can get our vacation started. I just have a few more clients to talk to.” She chuckled as she flexed a bit more in her husband’s body. Lydia was already done with all the clients in her schedule. She had some privacy for the rest of the day…
“Oh, Carlos…!” she said as she began to explore her husband’s body once more.

BREAKING NEWS: The queer-themed superhero Arrow Ace has been out on a justice-fuelled rampage this Valentine's Day Morning, sniping villains from above and appearing randomly to whack people who are being rude to the happily single on the day of love.
This is the first appearance that the Arrow Ace has made since October of last year, and we now go to our field reporter Devon, who has managed to get an interview with the enigmatic hero.
Devon: Thank you Gary! I'm here on the corner of 12th and 7th street in downtown Placeville and next to me is the Arrow Ace, who has graciously agreed to be interviewed. AA: Hello. Devon: Sir, many of our newer viewers want to know who you are and what you do. Do you have an answer for them? AA: Yes. Hi. I'm the Arrow Ace, but you can just call me Ace. I was the sharpest shooter in my archery class in college and later decided to make a pun regarding my identity and thus, the hero personality was born. Devon: So do you have any supernatural abilities or are you just really good with a bow? AA: None whatsoever. I'm just a normal guy 99% of the time. Devon: [short pause to listen through her earpiece] Ah. Yes. A question from the studio. Viewers, Ace is most likely referring to the pun his alias makes when talking about his identity. AA: Yes. I am indeed an aromantic asexual, commonly shortened to aro/ace. Devon: Could you perhaps elaborate on that for those watching who might not know what that means! AA: Of course! A person who is aromantic experiences little, decreased, or no romantic attraction to other people. This may manifest as them not getting crushes, not wanting to participate in dating, or being adverse to romantic activities in general. A person who is asexual experiences little, decreased, or no sexual attraction towards other people. They might not want to participate in sexual activities and may be uncomfortable when the topic is brought up in real life or in media. Devon: I see! Thank you for explaining. Does this have anything to do with your backstory? AA: Yes. I originally took up the mask because as a young man, although I didn't have a word for what I was yet, I was often excluded in school both intentionally and not for not having an interest in dating people. In high school, someone who heard I wasn't interested in sex but also hadn't tried it out yet assaulted me to try and "convince" me otherwise. Ever since, I've been trying my best to be a beacon of light for those going through similar or worse ever since to let them know that there's nothing wrong with them and that you can be happy without those types of relationships. Devon: I see! Is there any reason why you're out and about on Valentine's day specifically? AA: I get asked a lot when seen alone in public if I'm single on this holiday. Most of the time, when I answer with yes, the response is something like "oh you poor soul! May you find love soon!" While the person undoubtedly means well, it still annoys me, so I've decided today to be the guy every aro or ace person wishes they had during that conversation.
[B-roll footage filmed on someone's phone of two person having a conversation. The first person asks "So, got any plans this evening?" The second person uncomfortably replies, "No, not really." The first person responds with "Oh, no! Well, better luck next year. Maybe you'll find someone," promptly cut off mid sentence by the Arrow Ace running up behind them and pwhacking them over the head with a paper towel tube. "You're not less whole or less of a person for not having a romantic or sexual partner," he says to the first person, pointing the tube at them. "That is your business and your business alone. I love you. Have a good day." The two people having the conversation stare after him, perplexed, as he runs off out of view of the camera. The video cuts back to Devon and AA.]
Devon: One last question: how do you know if the person in those discussions is aro or ace? AA: I don't, and I never put them on the spot for it. However, whether you experience attraction to others or not, it's never fun to be judged based on the circumstances you may be in at the moment. Devon: A bit of wisdom for us all. Well, sir, it appears that my time is up, but I appreciate you coming to answer these questions. AA: Of course. And, to all who participate, Happy Valentine's day! The shops always have discounts on chocolate the day after. Go treat yourself if you have the means. You deserve it. Devon: This has been Devon of Lucky 7 News. Back to you, Gary!
Thank you, Devon. I have received reports that a new development is unfolding in southeast Placeville- the Nefarious Anglerfish's cat-fish army is leaping up from the docks to attack unsuspecting couples on their walks. I've been told that the Arrow Ace is on his way to get involved. We'll be right back after these advertisements.
#ray's tag#writing#keys' writing#valentine's day#aro#ace#aromantic#asexual#aroace#since i can't provide a video today have this short bit of writing instead!#happy valentines day to all who observe :]#valentines day#sa mention

[ DERYA PINAR AK , CIS WOMAN , SHE/HER. ] ⸻ have you seen DEFNE OSMAN? yes, the TWENTY year old / JUNIOR that’s usually wandering around campus? they’re currently focused on NURSING, so we’re sure they’ve been super busy with studying. according to rumors, they were michael’s CHILDHOOD FRIEND and he knew they SELL FAKE IDS. does it make sense considering they’re known for being INTUITIVE as well as STUBBORN? either way, the phantom is threatening to bring scary things to light, but let’s hope whatever they’re hiding stays in the dark.
𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐒 …
𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄: defne lunara osman
𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄(𝐒): daph, luna
𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: november 12th, 2003
𝐀𝐆𝐄: twenty
𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐂 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: biromantic
𝐒𝐄𝐗𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: demisexual
𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌: devils in the canyon by the strike, fake id by big & rich, dopamine by madelline, please please please by sabrina carpenter, bad feeling (oompa loompa) by jagwar twin, wouldn’t you like by jorge rivera-herrans, alice by peggy, show me heaven by luke evans, i was made for lovin’ you by yungblud, oops i did it again by britney spears
𝐀𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒: making tea for the ceremony of it but drinking coffee like her life depends on it, oversized hoodies paired with fitted skirts, worn novels stacked in all manner of haphazard piles, overwatering plants as symbolism for caring too much to the point of suffocation, a study of girlhood where chaos and calamity can exist alongside laughter and naivety, bribes accepted in mango flavored smoothies
𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘…
listen, the first thing you need to know about defne is that she knows stuff. okay? she knows dumb stuff that has no real world applications, stuff that could help you break into an ex’s apartment or steal a car, and stuff that’ll come in handy in the most unlikely situations.
the reason for this colorful collection of knowledge stems from her parents often times leaving defne to her own devices as a kid. so the young girl found her entertainment in her peers and books. which is how she met michael, the neighbor boy who she befriended in middle school when she fell off the bus and he gave her a hand (but not without laughing first).
los angeles was the perfect city to meet all manner of people and boy did defne ever, especially thanks to the bodega her uncle ran that she spent her after school hours at. it was how she first learned to lock pick, and was given her first agatha christie mystery.
it was also the reason she was sent to the hospital one night, but that only managed to light an interest in medicine for the teenager at the time.
so when she managed to get into golden state, her parents were thrilled. it was a great launching pad for her future, and she fully intends on going after a medical graduate degree after graduation.
okay but why and how did she get into selling fake ids? listen, babe, when one sees a market for something . . . one tends to jump at the chance to make money. a friend of defne had wanted to get into a club, so defne had tried her hand at whipping up a fake id. it was convincing enough to pass that she started raking in the money and building up a client base. under wraps, of course, strictly hush hush. everyone so far seems to understand that if she gets found out, their ticket to the clubs and bars gets pulled.
defne hadn’t thought too much about making michael a fake id, he was a friend since forever. why wouldn’t she, right? so when he started hanging that information over her head like a sword on a string, she started to feel anxious. would he actually tell someone if she didn’t tow the line he’d drawn for her? but before she could question it for too long, he was gone.
she doesn’t miss the manipulation, or the stress he’d managed to induce due to his tactics. but defne does miss the way michael was before he started acting like that. at the core of it all, she does miss her friend.
defne is a sweetheart to a fold. she probably has coffee flowing in her veins at this point due to how much she consumes. she loves murder mystery novels (ironic i know), and can and will rewatch 00’s flicks like her life depends on it (because her sanity lowkey does). she will willingly leap without looking, and stick her neck out for those she cares about. catch her knee deep in a video game when she absolutely should be studying cause procrastination? we absolutely know her.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒…
best friend(s)
confidant
partner in literal? crime
exes
study buddies
opposites attract
gaming buddies
fellow theatre crew
frequent customers
former customers (who now look out for her/make sure no one spills her business?)
current relationship? / future significant other?
coffee buds
anything tbh, let’s plot

~ Trip to New York ~
🌃 Activity title: Trip to New York
🌃 Duration and amount: two weeks (30th of July - 12th of August)
🌃 Type of activity: activity
~ Activity Description ~
My mom and I decided to visit my sister and her husband in New York. This was far from my mother's first time being in New York, but it was a first for me. Honestly, I've seen this city so many times in so many different movies that it didn't feel foreign to me whatsoever when I got to see it in person. It looked just like how I expected it to.
We first stayed in Brooklyn, where we had lunch and also where we got to see the Brooklyn Bridge, which is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the US. After finishing lunch, we decided to walk around for a bit as we were waiting for a Hudson River ferry to arrive to take us to Manhattan. This was not my first time being on a ferry, but it was fun nonetheless. It was also a bit stressful since the wind was very strong and the ferry was swaying left and right, so you had to hold onto something or someone for dear life.
At dawn, we had reservations for the Rockefeller Center. The view from the highest floor, which I believe was the seventieth floor, was one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. We were so high up in the sky we could even see the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. I've taken hundreds of pictures just to try and capture that beauty to be able to look at it even after the moment had already passed, but no picture could do justice to the incredible view I had the pleasure of seeing.
We went to the High Line and visited the Chelsea Market which is a multi-use building in Manhattan. It is a food hall, a business building, and also a shopping mall all in one. We spent a good while there since all of us were interested in at least one thing this building had to offer. I was personally very intrigued by all the small shops where you could find a bunch of high-quality products from Japan, such as clothes, accessories, and even stationery. The bookstore also possessed a lot of goodies, and I decided to get a few pins for my friends.
We also went to the Grand Central Terminal which is one of the busiest train stations in the world. It is considered magnificent by many due to its spaciousness but also because of the beautiful architecture. On the ceiling is a celestial mural depicting a map of the constellations, and a clock, which is above the information booth, that is worth over $20 million which speaks of its value.
My favorite part of New York would probably have to be Times Square. An obvious answer, I know, but I can't help it. The big screens and the performers that show up every night, the huge crowds, the life of it all is what makes it special. Right at the beginning of Times Square there were these small shops, and one of them had claw machines with cute stuffed animals as prizes. Of course I had to give it a go and I managed to win myself a cute bunny plush!
~ Reflection ~
All in all, this trip was amazing, and getting to spend it with my family made the experience even more priceless. By the end of our trip my legs were basically falling off due to how much we walked, but it was definitely worth it, and I would do it all over again if I got the chance to!
~ Learning Outcomes ~
🌃 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
🌃 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
🌃 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
🌃 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Why Digital Marketing?
1. High Demand: As businesses shift online, the demand for digital marketers is skyrocketing. Companies are on the lookout for skilled individuals who can help them stand out in a crowded digital space.

Between Two Buns
Sometimes I go to the vault to find a topic for The Daily Blog. After all, there is a wealth of teachable moments in the past. If there is one thing we marketers will be remembered for is that we are a bottomless pit of newsworthy actions, from amazing successes to dismal failures.
And as it turned out, Oldest Daughter shared a TikTok Reel with me a few days ago recounting one of those successes. I quickly knew I had to use this tale once more, which I had covered in The Daily Blog on 5th December 2018. From the 4th through the 12th that month, Burger King trolled McDonald’s by launching a promotion that required people to go to McDonald’s first.
Huh?
It was all about what was then a fairly new idea, geofencing. Basically, it involves setting up a virtual perimeter, and typically, businesses set one up around their own property. But Burger King did the opposite, setting up the perimeter around 14,000 McDonald’s locations. Once within the perimeter, which was usually set at about a 600-foot radius, an offer of a 1-cent Whopper would pop up in the Burger King app. The goal was to divert customers, and the effort has become legendary.
Of course, there is always risk in sending potential customers to a competitor first, and Burger King had to think strategically as to which McDonald’s locations to fence, because if there wasn’t a BK unit nearby, people would probably give up and just get a Big Mac. And if you didn’t own a smartphone AND had not downloaded the app, this promo just went flying right by your head.
Still, this was guerrilla marketing executed pretty much without flaw. Well, except that once Burger King did it, I have not heard of it being done again, at least not on a large scale. It’s one of those things that everyone quickly figured out could be used endlessly against anyone. Including you. Remember that Golden Rule? Yeah. While BK was no doubt giddy about this, imagine if McDonald’s had responded in kind? Or, worse yet, all the other burger joints formed a coalition to show Burger King a thing or two?
At some point, you just become a bad neighbor, and while it is always possible to play this card, maybe you shouldn’t. Tit for tat, you know. It might not end well.
That said, I am still a big fan of geofencing when it comes to your own property. Burger King could have done the whole promo using its own locations exclusively, but no. They wanted workers and managers in those McDonald’s locations to see people pulling in, and then leaving without ordering. That’s both diabolically delicious, as well as cruising for a bruising.
Looking back nearly five years now, we see that while the promo was a hit, it didn’t really change anything. Burger King has only a 1.2-percent share of the market. You really don’t want to poke a sleeping bear, and in this case, the bear—McDonald’s—could have crushed BK if it wanted to. Burger King should count its blessings.
And we should count this as yet another example of a high-tech strategy that worked, but one that should be realigned to focus more on the marketer and not so much on the competitor. Just because you can, does not always mean you should. It was cute. Some might say brilliant. I agree, but it was risky.
I’d put that fence over on my property, and work on being a better neighbor. Robert Frost once wrote, “Good fences make good neighbors.” I’m with him.

Sun 12th Feb:
What a week 😭 Area manager came into work on Monday to tell my manager he was leaving as of Saturday and going to another store after his wedding to turn it around. He's definitely the person for the job but also now it's just the deputy manager and me for the foreseeable to run our store. So spent a lot of time, effort and money this week on having a whip round for him and getting everyone to sign cards, ordering wedding and leaving presents, baked him a cake and made him up a survival hamper to take to the other store. And just like that, the end of an era 😭😭
Aside from that bombshell, work has just been v busy and intense bc we had a few people off and a few sick calls to just really rub it in. Thursday it all got too much for me and I had to go home early, wracked with guilt for leaving everyone else in the shit. But I've made up for it over the weekend!
Had Friday off in between and... we finally booked the wedding!!! Signed the contract with the venue! We have a date!! 8th August 2024 🥰 then I went to see my best friend for coffee and she told me she's pregnant!!! I'm going to be Auntie Nic 🥺 THEN I went to see Nanna Mary and asked her if she would walk me down the aisle with Nanna Ann and she said yes!!! So Friday made up for all the shitty parts of the week. But it's still been a wildly emotional one. I've cried a lot 🤣
Anyway. My friend got me this cute mug and of course I have to show it off to @idratherberunning49 - this can be my pre-Monday mugshot since I'm up at 4.30 tomorrow and will 100% forget to take one.

On 12th April 1941, Scottish poet, Charles Murray died at Banchory, Aberdeenshire.
Though easily the best known and most popular Scots poet of the period from 1910 till the 1960s, Charles Murray’s literary output was modest. Though there was nothing amateur in his approach to his poetry, Murray was not a professional literary man and had to compose in the time he could spare from a busy working life first as prospector and mine manager, then as a senior colonial civil servant, in the newly created Union of South Africa.
In 1969, twenty-eight years after Murray’s death, poems which had not appeared in book form during his lifetime were published as The Last Poems, with Preface and Notes by Alexander Keith.
Finally in 1979, Murray’s friend, the novelist Nan Shepherd, edited Hamewith: the complete poems of Charles Murray. These publications were supported by the Charles Murray Memorial Fund.
Misfits
I've kent auld dominies wi' little skill o' teachin'
When put aneth the soundin' board show eloquence divine;
An' richt learn'd ministers nae worth a doit at preachin',
An' middlin' tradesmen, wonderfu' at gien oot the line.
Sometimes a Genius sets a bonny lowin' flame
Aneth the bushe'l in a neuk, lest it should stop the flails;
Whiles feet that should hae trod up the brae that leads to fame,
Gae trailin' weary doon a fur ahin' the ousen tails.
Now sirs, can ye explain why square pins sae aft are set
To fill roun' holes? Ye dinna ken? That brings menae surprise
For here I'm jamm'd sae ticht, where some other man would fit,
An' he is rattlin' in a place that's just my very size.
But bide till my corners are ance a wee bit worn,
An' I can turn as free as those wha think I shouldna try,
Syne mony wha look doon upon me now wi' scorn,
When speer'd at gin they ken o' me, will proudly answer, Aye.
Read more about the poet here, all in Doric, of course, you can also listen to his words as they are meant to be spoken. https://www.thedoric.scot/charles-murray.html

Sunday 12th February 2023
Happy 4th Birthday to Elsie
The weather in this part of the world is very odd and has been so for some while. The sun is beating down again and temperatures have soared. The meteorologists are keeping a very close eye on Cyclone Gabrielle which is sweeping down from the top end out to the east and should miss the mainland but could cause strong winds on the way. Poor old NZ appears to be in its path. Ovation, after we left it, was destined for New Caledonia, Mystery Island and associated other islands. I have read that out of about 5 ports of call due to bad weather and conditions, it has only managed one and huge compensation is on its way.
Shoal Bay is part of Port Stephens which in 1770 James Cook named after Sir Phillip Stephens, Secretary to the Admiralty. Of course this is in total deference to the actual previous owners, the Worimi Peoples. Port Stephens is a larger coastal inlet than Sydney Harbour and is largely used for fishing and recreational purposes. Not a great deal is noted until 1934 when Bob Elliott, Alex Kufner and Tony Raper decided Shoal would be a great place to build a club house. During WWII coastal defences were positioned here as well as amphibious training centres for US and Australian forces. Today it is a lovely holiday location and a great place to live. I suspect it is mainly a holiday resort for Australians. To get here yesterday, we drove around Newcastle, strangely also well known for its coal mining just like its namesake. We passed huge open cast mining operations which enable the port of Newcastle to claim the title of the world's largest coal export port shifting some 160 million tonnes of coal per anum, mainly to Asian markets.
Being a very pleasant, if rather hot day today, it started with an early morning run followed by a trip to the stunning beach. Despite being Sunday, it was nowhere near busy. Home for lunch then out to some of the neighbouring bays. Firstly Fingal Bay. A very comely sort of place where we found a compelling walk across the headland to Fingal Point; a high vantage point where two bays may be viewed at once. There we saw our first goanna lizard. Next bay had to be Anna's Bay with its very large sandy beach, great for windsurfing. The final bay for today was Boatman's Bay where there was no boat but was quite old by Australian standards. A settlement was here in the mid to late 1800s as the strange little cemetery bore testament to. Well, what with all that baying, we struggled back to Shoal for a bottle of SB, and fish & Chips. Barramundi for me and Hake for Martine. Perhaps tomorrow a little more relaxing in this lovely area. An absolute must see if touring in this part of NSW.

STARTING DAYS
Initially some problems were faced. It was obvious cause you just can't settle at a place, environment in a day or a week specially when you were a 9 year old child. So mine problem was same. First i was home sick but can't help my self . I could just cry, nothing else because there was no way to home. Whenever the home sickness was its peak, the thing I used to do was put blanket or bedsheet over my face and cry a lot 🤭 and sleep 😴. Oo shit!!!! i just revealed my secret 😂. The interesting part of initial days was we don't had to attend morning games that was the only time you got this opportunity. Our partners who teaches us how to manage everything here. They taught us prayers, mantras, how to respect seniors and teachers, rules of schools, hostel ,hooting, how to sit in mess and eat food properly. Partners is not business partners of course but they were like sister to us. My partner was the only one who reveal my secret to others that she cry while covering her face with blanket. Everybody made fun of me 🥺 but it's ok as i have revealed my secret to you guys don't moke me. Before choosing our game we had a trip to visit every game so that we can know about the game what it is about. In that school lowest standard was 4th class. So students of our class visit every game present in school and later we attend some of our game that was upto our mind. It was all fun. It was hard for me to select a game still I have to because I can't be without any sport. So decided to be in gymnastics 🤸🤸. The most difficult part was for me to learn prayers, mantras and easy part was to learn mess etiquettes. I like the part of reciting a verse before taking our meal. When it was time for meal every student and teacher was present in mess and then school captain came and rang the bell then we recite our verse pull our chairs sat down and enjoy our meal . If a teacher or a senior is sitting with you on your table afterwards we had to serve the food to them later we would had food. The duration was fixed to have our meal when the time was over we had to leave our chair and finish our meal by thanking God. The problem was only for few days because after that i never missed my family. Friends are your friends, family your mentor your councillor. Even they give shit councelling or advice it seems to be very useful at that time☺️🤭.
We should make friends so that your problematic life became more problematic 😂. Jokes apart with them i think stress level decreases ☺️. In a room of our hostel approximately 22 students were their in one room only. A seperate bed and a cupboard was provided to students. So our partners taught us to make bed and set up our cupboards. Our school there were 2 wings -. First one was upto 4th class to 6th class and second wing was upto 7th class to 12th class. The rituals of partner make a very good bonding with our seniors . Initially no friends were so partner were the only one who take care about ourselves.
Time flies so fast 🕊️🕊️.
Catch you soon guys, till then take care.
