Experiential Learning Elevated Volunteer Training for the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand.

The State of Uttarakhand has launched an Experiential Learning Program 📖 for the first time in the history of National Games, in collaboration with IISM, Mumbai 🤝, as the Official Volunteer Training partner for the 38th National Games.

This initiative is designed to ensure that volunteers effectively represent their state while managing various responsibilities during the mega event 🏅.

Before commencing the physical training program 💪 for selected volunteers, the online training program 💻 was conducted to evaluate and enhance the capabilities of the aspiring volunteers, providing insights into the roles & responsibilities of a volunteer.

The National Games Organizing Committee envisions not only executing the event smoothly but also prioritizing excellent experiences for athletes, officials, and spectators, maintaining facilities with international standards. 🏟️

Anushka Naik Institute of Sports has proved it right. 🙌 Recently, she secured a Gold Medal 🥇 for the University of Mumbai in Mallakhamba sport in the All India University Games held at LNCT University, Bhopal.

She has previously won several competitions, bagged medals 🏅, and made us proud. 😊 Mallakhamba players like her have kept this traditional sport alive. 🙏 Anushka is currently in her 2nd year of the Master of Sports Science program at IISM.

Is investment in Sports Science crucial for the success of the Olympics? 🤔

Well, Dr. Tom Wycherley, Program Director for Exercise and Sports Science - University of South Australia 🇦🇺, has valuable insights for Sports Science enthusiasts. 🤓

Exercise & Sports Science enhance not only athletic performance but also strengthen a team's overall performance 💪. It’s crucial to identify that Sports Science contributes to the holistic development of the Sports Ecosystem 🌱, leading to the success of any match or tournament 🏆.

So, to prepare the athletes for a series of athletic competitions like the Olympics, a country is seen allotting huge investments 💰. Dr. Wycherley mentioned it while talking about how Australia is preparing for the Brisbane Olympics 2032 🇦🇺.

Additionally, he emphasized the requirements India would need to host the Olympics if it were to take place in 2036 🇮🇳.

Sports taught me many things. Not giving up on your dreams is one of them.

I, Rahi Nitin Pakhle, have been playing various sports since I was 5 years old, but what I loved most was Gymnastics.

When I was introduced to Trampoline Gymnastics, I was flying on Cloud 9 - literally. ☁️ With each flip and bounce in the air, I could see my dreams coming true.

I have won the National Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics six times. I represented India in two World Cups held in Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, one World Championship in Bulgaria, and one Asian Championship in Hong Kong. One of my proudest moments to date was being selected for the Asian Games last year in China, which brought a wide smile to my parents' faces. 😊

I have experienced many obstacles during my athletic journey. Even I missed my chance to participate in the Paris Olympics 2024. 💔 And it made me lose my confidence in life. But it was the love for my sport and support from my parents that kept me going.

Like every athlete, I, too, have dreamt of representing my country in the Olympics and I am keeping on with my practice for next year.

Moreover, I aspire to contribute to the sports field by promoting it as a mainstream career, rather than just fun activities. This motivation led me to join IISM, where I aim to educate myself about various facets of the sports industry.

Being a full-time athlete while continuing my studies is challenging, but I always believe that great things happen every time you bounce back. And who would understand this better than a trampoline gymnast? 🤸‍♀️

“This is the moment I was living for.” 🤩 Krish seemed even more excited as he shared his internship experience as a Sports Manager in front of his idols, Cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi. 🏏

Krish Lalwani, one of our BSM students who also played Cricket under 16, chose to pursue a career in Sports Management at IISM as he never wanted to keep himself apart from sports. And from then on, his journey took a great turn. 🔄 Work exposure, internships with big sporting events & brands like Tata IPL, BCCI, The Actors Bash, and networking opportunities gave him a global platform 🌎 in the Sports Business industry.

Volunteering opportunities from IISM at sporting events and brands give you that exposure. Recently, our Sports Management students volunteered at IIT Powai Run, gaining experience in how a successful sports event functions.

Working closely with the event management team also gave them a preview of each facet of the event.

Ketaki Kamat, a FYBSM student, shared her experience volunteering at the event. “My experience volunteering at IIT Powai run was really great.

It really gave a boost to my confidence and improved my communication skills with people. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would love to have these opportunities again.”

When your passion aligns with your career, nothing can stop you from achieving success. Subham Saini’s journey from an MSM student to becoming a sports business professional depicts the same, as he recently joined the Sports Event Management Team at ‘26 IDEAS’.

“My journey at the International Institute of Sports & Management (IISM) has been a transformative experience that has shaped both my professional and personal growth.” Subham shared with us.

He further added that the opportunity to work at top organizations like Star Sports and the Andhra Pradesh Football Association during his internship let him explore the various facets of the sports business world, such as broadcasting, media, and grassroots-level sports, experience real-time work, and build a network in the industry.

A true sportsman is known not by his medals but by his grit, dedication to the sport, and never-giving-up attitude, which I have noticed in my father since childhood. Watching him practice daily and his commitment to Karate inspired me so much that I started learning Karate at a very young age.

I have embarked on a journey that has shown me both glorious moments and challenging days. These experiences have pushed me through obstacles and helped me create my winning podium. 

I represented India internationally and made my country proud by winning Gold & Silver medals in several tournaments. In 2014, I won a Gold in the Budokan Cup in Dubai. In 2018, I earned both Silver & Bronze medals in the Open Karate Championship held in Mauritius.

Additionally, in 2019, I bagged a Silver medal at the 6th Legend International Championship in Malaysia. Most recently, in November of this year, I represented India in the 24th FSKA World Karate

Championship which featured about 1500 karate participants from 25 countries where I also won a silver medal.

Being an athlete has taught me to break through the barriers of what seems impossible. And that’s why neither injuries nor societal criticism could stop me from excelling in my sport.

Apart from Karate, I played cricket and represented my school in various tournaments.

Being an athlete, I am always curious about how the sports industry operates, and that’s why I have taken up a Bachelor of Sports Management at IISM.

IISM gave me opportunities to explore the business aspect of the sports industry which helped me gain a detailed insight.

Further, I aim to leverage my knowledge and skills to promote karate more broadly, contributing to the growth of the sport.
