Future Sports Managers giving some ‘Main Character Energy’. And why not? After all, they volunteered at the first World Pickleball Championship Series in India.

Organized & hosted by the ALL INDIA PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION, renowned athletes from around the world came to Mumbai to compete in the WPC -Asia Pacific Circuit.

The volunteering opportunity in the championship is a great exposure for IISM students to work for their passion.

Being an integral part of the sports management team at the event, the students gained real-time work experiences, networking with industry personalities, and feeling zeal for their job roles. 

All in all, the experience marked a memorable chapter in their life, inspiring the young minds to lead in the future.

Happy to announce that the first program under Dream Sports Foundation’s upskilling & education vertical- ‘Dream Again’ was successfully completed. Here are some glimpses from the certificate distribution ceremony held on Sunday in Mumbai. The program, in association with the International Institute of Sports & Management, saw a cohort of 101 PE teachers and 77 coaches undergo training.

Time to celebrate the smile of the Champs!

Recently, the UPGD women’s football team from IISM won the Victory Cup in the final match in the Zone II Intercollegiate Football (Women) Competition 2024, organized by the University of Mumbai.

Held at Bhavans College, many women’s football teams from the other colleges participated in the friendly tournament.

The girls shone in every match with spectacular performances, eventually winning the tournament against Sathaye College in the final.

True sports(W)men never let their passion fade away. These young footballers, who are also sports management students couldn’t represent their spirit better.

The journey of creating a milestone starts with a single step. Work exposure for the sports management students at the "Indian Oil WNC Indian Navy Half Marathon 2024" is the gateway toward that landmark.

The volunteering opportunity through Sports Timing Solutions provided the students with valuable on-field experience and taught them the essential real-time responsibilities required to conduct any sporting event.

“Working along with the navy officers and being a part of the management team for the event taught me the importance of precision, discipline, and effective teamwork”, shared Raunak, a Sports Management student of IISM.

The students, further applied their problem-solving skills and communication methods taught at the classroom to align necessary tasks of the marathon event .

Moreover, networking with sports business industry professionals provided them with a platform to explore career paths in the sports domain.

The establishment of NCSSR (National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research) Under SAI plays a pivotal role in enhancing the performance of an athlete or a team.

The sports centers nationwide aim to support the athletes and the sports teams by developing training methods in Indian norms. Also, Dr. Pralay Majumdar, the Ex-Dean PAN India, SAI discussed the assessments of a player done in the centers on physiological & psychological levels.

From Curious Minds toward Becoming Industry Leaders.

IISM students recently volunteered at the third Test cricket match between India and New Zealand held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This work opportunity with the Mumbai Cricket Association enhanced their portfolio, offering an incredible work experience.

Assisting with managerial responsibilities for the matches gave them invaluable insight into real-time challenges. Be it in Operations, Logistics, or Hospitality, they executed seamlessly, applying their classroom knowledge & quick wit.

Besides, the internship has opened a gateway to networking with industry stalwarts, offering the IISMians an edge in the Sports Business World.

Sometimes we discover our strength unexpectedly. Like I have mine.

My parents were all jumbled up with me being a four-year-old hyperactive kid at home. In this scenario, hobby classes always help to channel your energy in the best way. I tried many but finally settled with Rhythmic Gymnastics. And the sport and everything about it had me fallen in love with it in no time. I have found my passion, love, and strength, all in one sport, and thus began a journey from a hobby class to a National team of India.

I began participating in many tournaments and won several accolades. In 2018, I bagged a Silver medal in Khelo India, and also proudly represented my country in the 16th Junior Asian Championships in Malaysia.

In 2019, again I represented India in the 11th Senior Asian Championships in Thailand. In the same year, I qualified for the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships too.

Being an athlete, behind the scenes of sports always interests me. Specially, sports psychology. The well-being of mental health plays a crucial role in an athlete's performance in the game, I deeply believe. That’s why I have chosen IISM to study Sports Management further. With an idea to create great value in the sports business I, Shriya Kulkarni aspire to achieve all the dreams that I am determined to make true.

Vanshik takes the paddle only to Win.

It won’t be overstating if we call him the “Golden Boy of Pickleball” as he has bagged Gold medals in every Championship.

Recently, he ranked No.1 in Asia in the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, winning 2 Gold & 2 Silver medals in the World Pickleball Championship in Bali. Further, earlier this year, he won the Gold Medal in the Men’s Double Open category at the World Pickleball Championship 2024, held in China.

His love and dedication to the sport never let him return empty-handed to India.

IISM students stole the day by winning the ‘Pravartanam’ Cricket Cup in the tournament held at Garware Institute of Career Education and Development, Mumbai - GICED ground yesterday. It was a moment of sheer joy and celebration. 

The team exceeded not only last year's performance in the semifinal but also secured a triumphant final this year.

Khelo India and National Games showcase how Sports at grassroot level are evolving in India.

The masterclass by the Deputy Director of Sports Authority of India- SAI, Mr. Sibananda Mishra provided an insightful overview on the same.

Whether it is about the setting up of Khelo India centers across India, more involvement of women athletes, the expansion of Khelo India leagues, and the role of sports managers in this domain ,one can leverage every detail in the journey of becoming a Sports Business professional.

Like a Dream, but Reality. Such is the internship opportunity in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, UAE for our MSM students.

This work exposure through DNA Entertainment Networks has provided the students with an on-field experience in one of the world’s best sports leagues. During the matches held in Dubai International Cricket Stadium, they coordinated with several management requirements, applying their real-time skills and apt industry knowledge. Besides, the internship has opened a gateway to global networking with who’s who of the sports business domain.

Moreover, being a part of this league, the students have had the finest time whether it’s working with professionals or making bond with peers.
