what do you do on bush week in Canberra? 26 Jul

Apparently the partying started on Thursday night. So Friday is their hangover day and Canberra peeps would have their weekend to play again! Oh well~

Attended quite a number of gatherings this week, crashed for the Xmas in July on thursday after our thursday sci comm event. The Xmas in July was supposed to be fun, but think we are late and stuff, I didn't enjoy it. Really felt like a party crasher. The Thurs scicomm event was pretty cool. The undergrads showed their demos and it was quite new to us. Haven't seen that before. The karate chopping of rulers, assisted by newspaper, and liquid nitrogen propelled rocket, bubbles in bubbles, standing on light bulbs, and the best of all, the thunderous loud bang where we have to do the demo outside. It is really not safe to do this at all I feel, the PET bottle really burst into pieces from the vapour pressure of liquid nitrogen. 

The cocktail party by ISD and Parsa was really bad i felt. The welcome tea is way way better in Bruce~ We even dolled up ourselves for it!

I thought the best part of this week was the hike up Black Mountains! It wasn't as bad as I thought, though it took us 1 h. I thought it would be like, 30min? Botanic gardens was way way too cold. Wasn't properly dressed though. Was drizzling and all I see are shrubs, bushes and more wattle, which were pretty boring. Eucalyptus too. All indigenous plants in australia.

There will be one more welcome tea tmr in Bruce, for the packard wing.  It's just right next to me, in the senior common room! Can't escape even if it's boring <_> I just hope the party will end by 11 so I can sleep in peace!
