Kambah Turns 50 - planning for Sep 2024 for a community celebration

On Sat 26 Nov, a few of us met at the Diversity Hub on Laidlaw St to have a chat about how to mark Kambah's 50th.

Unfortunately, the sheep at the shops proposal was not successful with ArtsACT but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea. That was about making temporary flocks of sheep for each shops and getting the community to decorate them.

Imperdible: Stone Temple Pilots + Bush

Este 19 de febrero el Estadio Malvinas Argentinas recibirá ni más ni menos que al Revolución Tour de los Stone Temple Pilots y Bush. Hay más de mil razones por las que no te podés perder este tremendo double feature y acá te contamos solamente algunas por sí todavía no compraste la entrada. 

Si de trabajo complicado se puede hablar, no hay dudas que el reemplazar a Scott Weiland es uno de los que se posiciona en la cima de cualquier lista. El camino recorrido por los miembros fundadores de los Stone Temple Pilots tras la desoladora muerte de su líder ha sido mucho más agradable y veloz de lo imaginado por cualquiera de ellos.

Los hermanos Dan y Robert DeLeo y Eric Kretzlo dieron el primer paso en el 2016, cuando invitaron a Jeff Gutt a unirse de forma definitiva a la banda tras una intensiva búsqueda de alguien que pudiese al menos suplantar a un imprescindible como Weiland al micrófono. La química estuvo presente desde el primer minuto, simplificando la transición y comenzando a pavimentar un camino que derivó en la salida de su séptimo álbum de estudio titulado Stone Temple Pilots en el 2018.

Si bien no es la primera vez que STP cambia a su frontman -es muy recordado el paso del también difunto Chester Bennington entre 2013 y 2015- lo cierto es que en este caso todas las piezas encajaron a la perfección. Compuesto por catorce canciones, este disco no es solamente el más extenso del conjunto norteamericano, sino que también los encuentra en medio de una renovación muy elogiable. 

Siempre se los ha caratulado como referentes del rock alternativo, mote al que se le deben agregar géneros como el grunge, la psicodelia y el metal alternativo. Luego de una retirada de más de dos años, STP regresa al camino y lo hace en compañía de otro peso pesado de los noventa como lo es Bush, cuarteto británico que desde su reformación en el año 2010, ha lanzado tres discos muy bien recibidos por la crítica especializada. 

El liderazgo del fenomenal Gavin Rossdale es apenas una de las razones para entender el éxito comercial de Bush. Nacidos en Londres al calor del movimiento grunge/alternativo de los noventa, encontraron el éxito comercial de forma inmediata con su debut Sixteen Stone (1994), llegando a vender más de 10 millones de discos en los Estados Unidos y más de 20 a nivel mundial.

Su separación en el año 2002 fue en buenos términos, luego de muchos años en el camino que generaron un lógico desgaste. Si bien la carrera solista de Rossdale fue muy exitosa, a finales de la década los rumores de una reunión con sus viejos colegas y amigos comenzaron a sobrevolar el ambiente. Al día de hoy, a pesar de que las críticas de los más puristas siguen vigentes, Bush posee tres nuevos trabajos para sumar a su historia, siendo Black And White Rainbows (2017) la placa con la que desembarcarán en nuestro país junto a STP.

Los Stone Temple Pilots y Bush se presentarán en el Estadio Malvinas Argentinas el próximo 19 de febrero. Entradas a la venta en Ticketek.
