The duality of woman: should I keep my bush trimmed (more comfortable and convenient) or should I keep it flourishing (appealing, vigorous, fertile)?

Hey, I love women, I'm a lesbian, Beau and Yasha are my fav couple to exist in fiction, I adore Laudna and Imogen.
I'm ALSO super stoked that Dorian is back and that Orym is getting a cool moment to have some comfort and care, the lad needs it.
We really need to lift each other up. One person getting spotlight is not taking away from anyone else. It'll be okay.
There's a LOT of sexism and violence and hate towards women in "nerd spaces". With this being true, it seems super super unhelpful and in fact, willfully hurtful, to try and twist scenarios into being "misogynistic" when they're not. Call it out when it's really happening and let go of the rest. Just because YOU don't like what character is getting attention it does not mean that that plot happening is a direct attack on YOU or your gender.
Enjoy fiction, stand up for those who can't advocate for themselves and support queer people. Cmon. Celebrate a story about love and friendship and connections. It's a long long ass story, there will be PLENTY of wlw content to come.
SUPPORT each other!! We're all we have.

it's crazy the level of discourse there is about antis/pros and how teenagers just devolve into purity culture so quick. I'm sure I used to be like that, but somewhere between dating gang members and reading copious amounts of philosophy the world became a lot more gray to me when I entered my twenties and I've realised three things that I think are important for teenagers to know:
To quote my favourite childhood book series: "People aren't either wicked or noble. They're like chef's salads, with good things and bad things chopped and mixed together in a vinaigrette of confusion and conflict." Sure, going to car meets, selling drugs, drunk driving, stealing cars, playing chicken with cops are all examples of bad things that you shouldn't do but am I going to sit in my lovers bed and tell him that this life he was born into that saw all his friends die in drive bys and that saw his own dad pull a gun on him when he was a kid makes him a shitty person? Even though I can see all of the good in him, and can tell he doesn't want to do this, I should ignore it and focus on the negatitives? We have all done bad things, we all do bad things, and we all will do bad things. It doesn't make you a bad person.
Purity culture hurts everyone. There's a great book about this called the History of Sexuality that delves into how purity culture and the censorship of sex is at its essence the capitalist authority controlling the means of reproduction. At large scale 'pray the gay away' and 'contraception is a sin' make it so that men and women couple up more (instead of same sex coupling) and have unprotected sex. On a smaller scale 'AO3 is evil because it has pedos' and 'watersports is the grossest thing ever' do the job of the capitalist authority on a more digestible level. Us vs Them no longer is 'alt right vs communism' they use your words to make it 'pure good hobest people vs pedos who like piss play.' you are making bullets for your enemy and handing them your own damn gun. I promised I wouldn't make this whole post this one point tee hee sorry if you want me to elaborate just ask lol
Fetish ≠ real world experience. I'll build my own pyre as an example: I love me some good CNC (consensual non-consent) in my fanfics but in real life sex I have a praise kink so bad I have cried during sex multiple times. I am into tooth rotting sweet stuff and the kindest people in the world in real life. The media you consume 1000% has an effect on you, I'm not arguing that. I am however arguing that if you have media literacy and know what media is and is not harmful to you, it shouldn't effect your real life drastically unless you have other shit going on. I know this is rich coming from the "I have dated people in gangs" guy because that may show what kinda guy I'm into but prommy that's not a sexual attraction thing, it's 100% a lifestyle thing that again I will elaborate on if you want. Point being, porn ≠ reality and what gets that blood flowing isn't necessarily a reflection of how good or bad you are (ofc there are kinds of porn that are bad but that's beside the point and a very complicated thing for me to type while I'm this sleepy)
thank you for coming to my ted talk. pls I am begging on my knees for people to stop having black and white world views but i also know that's just a product of being a teen so if you are a teen pls! go out there and! consume media from different cultures and people with different lives to you! the world is at its best when it is wide!!! and full of love <3

A One Tree Hill reboot would consist of Brooke and Julian family life, her being a "pageant-type" stage mom in a 1-episode arc before the self-awareness and redemption, Naley off-screen, out of state, so they don't mess them up with Nathan and Jamie visiting a couple times, and Peyton reconnecting with Jake after her divorce from Lucas, who's remarried off-camera to a media trainer for a sports network that just so happens to do reality tv.
(emphasis on "type")

i keep seeing “it doesn’t matter if this post about anti semitism was made by a zionist, it’s still relevant” and i think this is a really deranged thing to say, but it’s a deranged thing that happens all the time so i guess it makes sense that people keep saying it. like, this was also a discussion when the crypto terf thing started going off, where people would say “it doesn’t matter if the op is a transmisogynist it’s a good post” but the op is specifically including trans women in their argument about male privilege which means their fundamental argument is incorrect and at odds with any and all feminist discussion!!! the same way that like, it doesn’t actually matter whether jackson hinkle is making a good point about palestine or not, he’s a far right anti semitic pos grifter and we should be blocking him any time he tries to engage because his fundamental argument is not “palestinians deserve a right to life, dignity, self determination, return, and safety” his argument is “the jews are controlling the media” a zionist will follow up their post about anti semitism with some shit like “i mean these leftists get mad when you call it the israel hamas WAR instead of a genocide, bc they’re anti semitic” while pictures of mutilated children’s corpses are being blasted all over my twitter feed. yes objectively anti semitism is on the rise, but that doesn’t mean you start platforming genocide deniers, sorry. there are plenty of people who don’t like, straight up refer to palestinians as rats that you can reference when discussing the rise in hate crimes!!

its so fucking crazy to me that jesse says kendall will try at another company or at something else like...he will try!!! he will have the will to try something!!! even if it will always be bitter that it isnt waystar like jesse confirming kendall will try AGAIN at something else truly brought tears to my eyes, my little suicidal engine that could
literally when you can't make the machine go you find something with almost all the same parts like maybe this time you'll be enough and you'll build and create and it will go go go go. but the thing about kendall is that all the things he thinks he wants are built on a lie!!! on a NOTHING!!! it's better that he fails and fails and fails again and eventually gives up. kendall is truly free the second he gives up and experiences ego death. then maybe he can take up painting or something

Having your own personal blog is honestly quite a nice change of pace compared to Reddit. I could put a funny GIF of George Bush getting hit by a shoe on here and the worse case scenario is that no one even notices.
You put that on a big subreddit and you get your eyes gouged out and a heap of political discourse underneath your post.

I see the occasional piece of discourse slide past me on this website (but also in other places) that goes something like this:
Every four years the democrats tell us our democracy is in danger and we have to vote for them or else! When will the centrists liberals stop holding us hostage like this! Why don’t they fix it for once and for all?
Here’s the thing: you can’t permanently get rid of fascism. We had a WORLD WAR that killed 75 million people to try to get rid of fascism and it just keeps on popping up again. It’s a weed that will always come back because it grows in the fertile soil of human misery, and until we end human misery for good, our soils will be rich and productive for a long time. Fascism flourishes when people are scared, unhappy, and suffering, because it gives humans easy solutions to complex problems.
Anyway… We! The Royal we! Need to stop thinking of voting as one weird trick to fix things forever and start thinking of it as weeding. Every four years you’re going to have to weed this fucking garden. For the foreseeable future. Now put your gardening gloves on and get to work, otherwise you’re going to end up with a fascist garden growing nothing but the thorn bushes of oppression and subjugation.

Setting: Mother’s Day, my close family is over, and I’m playing 80’s music (pop) because it’s my mom’s favorite genre and “Running Up That Hill” comes on.
Mom, born in 1970 who listened to nothing but 80s music growing up until the mid-90s: They only made that for the show.
Me, born in 1990 who is a music junkie that has only seen Season One of Stranger Things but lives on Tumblr and has bought a grand total of one Kate Bush song on iTunes in 2006: Uh, Kate Bush is a pretty old artist. I’m pretty sure it’s 80’s.
Mom: I mean, it sounds 80’s. And the show is supposed to be 80’s, so they made it for the show.
My husband, who is a few years older than me with a mom the age of my grandparents is watching and thinking: Rarely is someone in the room that has more esoteric music knowledge than my wife. I don’t even know who the fuck Kate Bush is.
Me: Bruh, mom, we got Google. -does the thing- 1985.
Mom, flabbergasted there was 80’s music she hadn’t heard: Fair enough.
Meanwhile, it goes to show that growing up on a genre is a lot different in a time before the internet and streaming services. If it wasn’t on the radio, and she didn’t own the cassette/CD, she wouldn’t have known.
Modern music is so richly saturated that I will get hype for an artist only I’ve heard among my peers (and vice versa), but the internet following will be hype with me.

at this point i will fully just be blocking anyone who says they're voting third party idk how to get it into your brains that by voting third party YOU ARE VOTING FOR DONALD TRUMP. if he wins, you're not getting another chance to vote, you're not getting another election, because he WILL become the dictator. he has smart people behind him, horrible people, but people who know what they're doing and know how to manipulate laws and twist them in ways where trump can do whatever he wants.
if you are voting third party, you are taking away our one chance at winning this thing.
kamala harris is a good candidate. she is the most pro-palestinian candidate we are EVER going to get who actually has a shot at winning this thing. she's a black and south-asian woman who understand the struggles that minorities face and does her best to fix them. she is smart, she is pro-abortion, she is literally the most liberal candidate we will EVER HAVE who has a remote chance at winning. she has a positive stance on lgbtq+ rights and worked to make sure the gay and trans panic defense was removed. she protected children and women and people of all kinds who were sexually assaulted. she made it so that children who were SEX TRAFFICKED wouldn't be prosecuted for BEING TRAFFICKED.
she is a good candidate. hell, she's a GREAT candidate. she's leagues better than biden, at this point i honestly don't know what you all are hoping for. we are never going to get the hyper-liberal, massively far left candidate some of you seem to be hoping for. that's just not a possibility: this is politics. you can't appeal to that tiny corner of the population and still hope to win. i wish you could, but that's just now how it works at this moment in time. kamala harris might be the best presidential candidate in the history of the united states.
and even if she wasn't: have you forgotten what 2016-2020 was like?! have you forgotten who we're fighting against?! because donald trump is a nightmare scenario. he is literally the opposite of everything that liberals and far-left people like myself stand for. when bush was running against al gore, the only reason that there was even a supreme court case that appointed bush was because too many people voted third party. you can't do that shit. i wish you could, i wish we had more options, but we just fucking don't.
so, yeah: come november, go out and vote, and when you do, vote for kamala harris. vote for her so we don't lose everything that we as liberals are fighting for, vote for her for those of us who are too young, vote for her for the best-case scenario that the palestinian people will ever have in this current political climate.
please. please, please vote harris. it's the only option atp.
(i will not be doing discourse in the replies or reblogs. don't even try it.)

There's a lot of Discourse between leftists going against them "I want to show my displeasure with Democrats by voting against them" vs liberal "Trump is literally promising to put Palestinians in concentration camps don't let him win", but it turns out there's a solution that makes both sides happy, and that's to vote for progressive candidates in Democratic primaries, and/or throw your support behind groups like the Justice Democrats who are working to do the same and have a track record of successfully replacing centrist Democrats with progressives like Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, etc.
If ten centrist democratic congressmen face serious primary challenges and even just like two of them lose, that will do WAY more to put the fear of progressive god in the hearts of Democrats than Trump winning in 2024.

[“When I asked focus group participants again about body hair and their desires for women, Adam responded:
That’s what makes the woman different, her body, I don’t mind uh having hair in certain specific parts on her body um . . . in general I . . . like woman to be clean. Just in certain areas. But like I said, down in the genital, like it’s okay for me.
Hair, for Adam, Musiteli, and other participants, served as the visual representation of the differentiation between “men” and “women.” Further, Adam referred to a woman being hairless not only as “proper” but “cleanly,” as well.
Often, when I asked participants specifically about genital hair, the response was that they did not prefer hair due to cleanliness, hygiene, and other such myths surrounding body hair. The idea that hairlessness is cleanly is reflected in colloquial discourse (e.g., “clean shaven”). Ryan, an Indian American, cis-het man, explained to me his distaste for a “bush” or a large amount of hair genitally:
I just think like it's better to sometimes, maybe, fully shave it, like coordinate with your partner if you're going to do that, because then it could help but like, yeah, if like two people both have bushes then like you don't know what's going on. And, also, it's just like, cleaner. Like in terms of like keeping it clean. It's easier when you have less hair in those areas.
When I asked Liz, a cis-lesbian, Latina woman, whether she cares if a woman shaves her armpits and genitals or not, she similarly responded, “Yes (laughs). Yes definitely. It’s just . . . um . . . how should I call it? Hygiene. Hygiene.”
In Ryan, Liz, and Adam’s discourse, pubic hair is conceptualized as unclean, non-hygienic, and obtrusive. Such ideas, again, are not mere individual preference but are instead shaped by cultural and generational understandings of hair. Herzig highlights that “the normalization of smooth skin in dominant U.S. culture is not even a century old,” with such ideas arising during the same years as the Cold War with individuals in the United States describing “visible body hair on women as evidence of a filth, ‘foreign’ lack of hygiene.” Porn and the framing of sexually explicit material have also shaped cultural understandings of pubic hair. While pubic hair removal for women went out of vogue after the nineteenth century, it became popular once again in the 1980s, in part, due to pornographic depictions largely including hairless vulvas, and more recently, hairless bodies for men, as well. Cultural discourse surrounding pubic and body hair is, thus, shaped by racialized, gendered, and xenophobic understandings of the body and hair. The fact that these ideas are shared by immigrant participants/participants of color does not deny the racialized and xenophobic roots of such discourse, so much as it highlights the internalization of racism and xenophobia by immigrants and/or people of color, as an adaptive response to the racism of society.
As participants conceptualized hair as animal-like, masculine, and/or filthy, they also conceptualized of it as excess or surplus to the human (woman’s) body. Pubic hair shaped their idea of what it means to do womanhood and to be a woman. As such, participant discourse not only was shaped by racist, sexist, and xenophobic conceptualizations of hair that have proliferated in the United States but also cissexist concepts of manhood and womanhood as opposite, different, and biologically based. That which is “improper to manhood/womanhood within White schemas of a gender binary are unnatural, unclean, and undesirable.”]
