Leaders get their prefix changed as well! This is because I like the idea of them losing their first life and changing entirely.

They have deeper meanings, they're supposed to either be well-wishes to the new leader, or to tell them how to deal with leadership, etc. Hailfur -> Bluestar - "to gaze with your deep water eyes around you, to know of your friends and enemies by sight." Vipertail -> Tallstar - "to stand tall in your pride and glory of your clan, to lead a legacy spanning generations."

things like this... I have a few more for my AU but I do not have a set-in-stone, well worded reason for the name changes, so just, have them. small note: I think that names that reference the clan itself (Night for Shadowclan, or Flow for Riverclan) give their clan a lot of pride, like "yes that is our iconic leader!!!" so maybe they're special??? ALSO rejecting the name that you get from the stars is never a good idea, because the only reason leaders have nine lives is because Starclan gave them. so I do believe that it would be cool if Tigerstar specifically refused his name because of his pride :D

cootstar was appointed leader after the last one died mysteriously. the leader was his mother, burrowstar, who had three lives remaining when she passed. the cats of birchclan wonder how she even died, and some have said that cootstar had killed her three times, though, this hasnt been proven yet. cootstar is very over-confident and boasts about how young they were when they became leader in his clan. however, outside of his clan, he doesnt talk much and is very reserved.

The much more robust ShadowClan. I like filling ShadowClan’s ranks with flat-nosed and round cats.They have just as much if not even more of a habit of taking in loners and cats from other clans than ThunderClan, so they’re quite diverse and you find a lot of breed or other clan’s traits among them.

Burrowstar is a crazy old man who rarely takes things too seriously and is ready to indulge the youngsters’ wild ideas. There’s a strange luck to him where things tend to work out for him, but no one but Dustcloud seems to understand him or be able to stand him for too long.

Deereye was made deputy despite being a young cat who had only just trained his first apprentice. Many feel another senior warrior such as Hailblaze would have been a better choice, none more vocal than Deereye himself, but Burrowstar and Dustcloud seem to think he’s the right guy. His front paw is damaged from an accident which has left him unable to move his claws, leaving them always out.

Though much younger, their medicine cat Dustcloud is a close friend of Burrowstar, and one of the few who understands him. She is very motherly and whenever he does something unexpected she helps assure the clan that there is wisdom in his actions. She was born a kittypet and invited to join by her late-mentor due to the knowledge she possessed of her twoleg’s herb garden. She has her eye on Pinekit for an apprentice.

Hailblaze is a senior warrior, Deereye’s former mentor, and the one most of the clan thought would be made deputy. Though annoyed at being passed up she supports her leader and deputy, and helps Deereye when he gets overwhelmed. She’s Quailpaw’s mentor who has a habit of setting off her temper with his airheadedness.

Birdfire is a skittish, cowardly tom who has difficulty with his much more outgoing apprentice, Thornpaw. Most of his clan does not hold him in high regards, but Burrowstar values his alertness and sensibility among the otherwise battle-hungry clan.

Beeleap is a rough and irritable queen, ready to pick a fight with anyone. She detests Birdfire for being a coward and once attempted to chase him out of ShadowClan for it. Most find it difficult to get along with her, and were shocked when she had her late-mate Heavyclaw’s kit.

Kindhearted and a braggart, Goldenheart rarely attends gatherings specifically because he is too friendly and talkative of how great his clanmates are to the point of oversharing. He was Burrowstar’s last apprentice and the old cat is blamed for Goldenheart’s own ditziness.

Ratshadow and Badgerback are a pair of sisters who make up shadowclan’s best team of hunters. Ratshadow mentors her nephew, Mudpaw, and the family is fiercely protective of each other ever since Badgerback’s mate died in battle. Once a very enthusiastic warrior, she’s become more cautious since.

Redtooth is Deereye’s much more outgoing sister, and the person who pushes him the most to do his best. She’s quite smart, learning from her former mentor Taloneye to be inventive in her approach to new tasks, and takes failures in strides. She feels guilt over being praised for rescuing Taloneye and Berryspot from a badger simply for being the one to scare it off.

Berryspot always tries to think positively, and takes particular umbrage with more negative clanmates like Beeleap and Hailblaze. He feels guilty over the fact that Taloneye was forced to retire due to protecting him from a badger, and he has bonded with Redtooth over their shared admiration for their former mentor.

Applestem is a laid back and lazy cat who always looks for ways out of work if she can. She’s Deereye’s only apprentice and supports him simply because Burrowstar believes in him. She takes people’s differences in strides and accepts she doesn’t really understand others but that they’re probably doing what’s right.

Quailpaw, and sisters Mudpaw and Thornpaw are the current apprentices, all very excited for their training. No one is quite sure how Quailpaw came out so friendly given who his mother and mentor are. He frequently is the victim of Mudpaw and Thornpaw’s pranks.

ShadowClan’s only elder in Taloneye, who chose to retire early due to her injuries from a badger attack that left her blind and suffering breathing difficulties due to a damage throat and nose. She was considered Shadowclan’s best warrior and mentor, and still held in high regard by her former apprentices.

Snakefang is ShadowClan’s current only queen and senior-most warrior, a fierce fighter with a twisted back leg. She’s quite jolly and happily fostered Cloverkit for Mothear when he arrived. The two became good friends and she still thinks of Cloverkit as one of her own. She thinks Burrowstar is a “crazy old coot” and fights with him often.

Snakefan’s kits are Dapplekit, Loamkit, and Pinekit. The three all believed Cloverkit to be their brother and were quite upset when he left. Depplekit in particular wishes to become an apprentice quickly so they can see him again. Comparatively, Loamkit worries about the day and wishes he could stay in the nursery with his mother. Despite his age, Pinekit’s spent much of his time in the medicine cat den due to bad luck with sickness, and has become quite curious about herbs and helping Dustcloud.
