Burnproof

Disabled and depressed, Izuku survives UA’s support course under Aizawa’s watchful eye—until Bakugo steps in, offering fierce love, protection, and a reason to keep breathing.

Aizawa always said it half-jokingly. "I'm not your teacher, Midoriya. I'm your suicide watch."

Izuku used to laugh. These days, he just nods and writes it down like it's a fact of his life, right between “needs cane support for left leg due to nerve damage” and “hearing aids tuned for low frequencies.”

He didn’t get into the Hero Course after the accident in middle school. Everyone said he should have been dead, and maybe that was true. Maybe part of him never got up from the pavement. But his brain kept ticking, analyzing, dissecting, planning. He could still be useful. So Aizawa pushed until they carved out a slot for him: Hero Support, Analysis Division— unofficial, experimental, and entirely propped up by Aizawa’s grumpy stubbornness and the threat of quitting.

So now, Izuku designs gear that saves lives while trying not to kill himself.

He spends most of his time alone in Workshop 3B, hunched over blueprints with one ear tuned to the buzz of the world through his hearing aids. He walks with a limp, cane clacking against the tile, favoring his bad leg, dragging shadows under his eyes.

And then there’s Bakugo.

God help him, Bakugo.

No one told him the blonde would be transferring back into the same year after that Hero Internship fiasco. No one told him Bakugo still had that blood-red snarl and eyes like flint, and no one told him that the alpha had stopped hating him somewhere along the way and started watching him like prey.

Or maybe not prey. Maybe something worse. Something wanted.

“Why are you limping more today?” The question wasn’t soft, but it was low. Bakugo’s voice always dropped around him now, like he knew how Izuku flinched when people shouted.

Izuku didn’t look up from the reinforced gauntlet prototype. “Weather. Cold. Joints hurt.”

“You eat?”

“You know I didn’t.”

A pause. Bakugo stepped into the workshop, closing the door behind him with a click that felt too intimate. Izuku’s scent was faint today—diluted, dulled with exhaustion.

“I brought you something.” A clatter. Tupperware on the desk. “Eat it while it’s warm, nerd.”

Izuku’s hands trembled slightly when he reached for the lid. He didn’t say thank you. He never did. They’d moved past thank yous.

People noticed the way Bakugo hovered.

Not the way he fought—hovered.

He picked Izuku up from class even though they weren’t in the same course. He carried his bags without being asked. He adjusted the temperature in his dorm for Izuku’s joint pain, grunted about the cane when it wasn’t beside his bed. He took notes on meds. Learned the haptic tap-code for Izuku’s hearing aids in case his voice got too rough.

And when Izuku had bad days, the kind where he couldn’t talk and his hands wouldn’t stop shaking, Bakugo just sat. Right there. Back against the wall. Watching like a dragon over gold.

No one said anything. Not when Bakugo growled at Kaminari for flirting too long. Not when he outright shoved a third-year for bumping into Izuku too hard. Not when he stopped dating anyone else.

It was possessive. It was overwhelming. It was the only thing keeping Izuku anchored to the ground some days.

“Izuku.” The voice was low. Firm. Unrelenting.

“Izuku. Look at me.”

He’d had another vision again. That rooftop. The edge. The temptation of silence.

“I’m tired, Kacchan.” His voice cracked, quiet, raw. “Every day I wake up and I have to fight just to exist. I’m not even—”

Bakugo kissed him. Hard. Furious. Not romantic. Claiming.

“You’re mine, Deku.” His scent rolled out, thick and molten. “You’re fucking mine, and I’ll rip the world apart before I let it take you from me. You hear me?”

Izuku’s breath hitched. He couldn’t look away. His lips still burned.

“You think you’re broken? You think I don’t know what it costs you to stay here? You’ve been surviving every damn day while the rest of us are just playing catch-up. You’re the strongest person I know, and I—” Bakugo stopped himself, teeth clenched. “I love you. I’ve loved you since before I even understood what it meant.”

Izuku blinked.

Then again.

Then, slowly, he leaned forward and buried his face in the crook of Bakugo’s neck. The smell was grounding. Ash and caramel and a little bit of ozone.

“…I don’t know if I can ever give you everything you want,” he mumbled. “Not all of me. Not the way you deserve.”

“I don’t need perfect,” Bakugo said, arms already wrapping around him. “I just need you.��As long as you’re breathing, I’ll be right here. No matter how long it takes.”

Later, Izuku writes in his journal:

“Still alive. Bakugo made me eat again. Held me like I was precious. I think I might believe him one day.”

I have another Platonic Yandere Wings of Fire/X-Men AU ~ ! How about an au where Reader is a dragonet who is an outcast of their tribe due to a rare condition in their tribe that they hatched with? (a la Chameleon from Book 8: Escaping Peril)

They were outcasted, looked down upon, ostracized, possibly bullied and abused, due to their rare condition... Yet one day they either leave or are banished or chased away, and they stumble on a rare animus-touched item that can grant them a power they've always wanted...

To be a normal dragon with normal powers, or even a dragon with rare, mighty powers.

They end up creating a form/mask for each tribe, one that is enchanted to highlight certain parts of their personality in that form and to be able to fit in without sticking out too much... They keep the enchantment in a necklace or bracelet that is always on them, and has a different gem or charm that will spread its color to the rest, to indicate they are that tribe that at the moment (ex. red ruby or garnet means a SkyWing, opal means a RainWing, orange/yellow amber for HiveWing, etc.)

Ideas for what rare condition they could have ranges like this:

MudWing: blood red egg makes them fire/burnproof; snout deformity makes it so they can't hold their breath for an hour; was born without fire; hatched without sibs...

SandWing: hatched without their venom barb; hatched with albino/melanistic/dark golden scales; hatched with six claws...

SkyWing: hatched with too much fire/hatched with too little fire; has crippled/deformed wings; has paler scales than most SkyWings...

SeaWing: hatched with a deformed tail; has trouble swimming; hatched with odd scale colors (bright acid/lime green, indigo, extremely pale blue/green, etc.)...

RainWing: snout deformity where they can't change colors; inability to produce acid/venom...

IceWing: melansitic/darker scales; difficulty breathing frostbreath; odd patterns/eyes/colors...

NightWing: albino/pale scales; not hatched with any full moon powers; hatched under three full moons...

HiveWing: odd scale colors (bright gold-green, greenish-black, reddish-pink); albino/melanistic, odd power or no powers...

SilkWing: melanistic; deformed wings/wingbuds; inability to produce silk/is a flamesilk...

LeafWing: odd scale colors (amber brown, pink-red, gold); odd leafspeak/no leafspeak; deformed tail or wings...

Reader would have a mask (enchanted form) of each tribe, with its own name, color, size, abilities and personality, all a little different if not completely different, and each with a carefully crafted backstory. Reader made sure each of these forms were more or less "perfect" (undeformed/common/accepted). Some forms have fun powers, some are more down to earth, but all are crafted to match Reader and hide them, transforming them into a new dragon each time they change.

I'm going to call this the 🎭Jekyll and Hyde🐉 AU... And it's 🥚Tiny Talons🐉 variation is called the 🥚Tiny Rainbow🌈 AU...

her tone betrays what she wants to say and it was exactly what abel was aiming for. it was getting too comfortable, so he needed to show her he still was himself, even for being a malewife. he knew on some level she enjoyed it. if she didn't she would be getting up, instead of settling into the water more.

Well so much for relaxing. Instantly does she make a face, scrunching up her nose at him after he decides to once again be so unapologetically himself.

"More like manpain. You're in trouble once I'm out of here, I hope you know that." He may have the upper hand for now, but she's going to absolutely make sure she gets his ass once she's got her energy back. "Bring me whichever you want, but know if you bring me my original request you can't complain about me not drinking your tea afterwards."

She leans her head against the back of the bathtub, taking slow, deep breaths to really take in the aromas. The tricky part would be meditation to relax but not necessarily fall asleep or project anywhere. Would that even be possible? Who knows. Maybe as long as she doesn't keep herself too into it for too long she can just loosen up her muscles.

"Random question." Actively speaking would help, too. "I know your nerves are shot, but can you feel things through energy?"
