I wanna ask you about thoughts/hc on Mickey doing art!

(like, when did he start it, what kind of art did he like to do, thoughts on his prison sketches, will he still keep the hobby in future… and, do you have a favourite art work of his?)

First of all, so sorry it took me so long to reply (after I asked to yap) *face palm*. I absolutely love this ask!

I absolutely love artist Mickey. Maybe I am a little biased because I like doing art but I think he definitely did at least some art before the sketches we see in the cell! It is also evidenced in the details of his room in this amazing analysis .

I feel like Mickey probably got into art because he can't keep his hands still. I can imagine him constantly doodling and not realising how often he is drawing.

By examining the art in the prison cell, it seems like Mickey was working on drawing bodies, but the 'keep the faith' drawing kind of gives me tattoo vibes? You can also tell that he put a lot of work into the keep the faith one with the shading so maybe the men are just for fun cell posters and his real aim is designing tattoos?

I hope he continued art after prison, I'd love to see him as a tattoo artist <3

Surprise Picture

“What the fuck?” Mickey says, swatting the hat out of Ian’s hand. “I’m not gonna wear that shit.”

“Come on Mick,” Ian pleads. “Just for one photo and then you can burn it.”

“Fine, whatever man, make it quick,” Mickey grumbles. He can’t say no to his husband’s puppy dog eyes. Which is totally unfair, it’s his birthday goddamnit and he should get to do want he wants.

Ian places the birthday hat on Mickey and gives him a quick peck on the lips. He then holds his phone up for a selfie.

“You got the phone backwards genius,” Mickey points out.

“The camera quality is better this way.”

“According to who? You can’t see what you’re fucking taking a picture of and you’re so tall I probably won’t be in it.”

“Relax, I know what I’m doing just trust me,” Ian says as he positions himself next to his husband. He holds up the phone and Mickey holds up a finger.

Ian looks at the picture and gives a frown.

“You know you’re right that wasn’t the best way to take a picture,” Ian says holding the phone to Mickey. “You can bearly see Jamie.”

“ What the?” Mickey says confused about the additional people in the picture. He turns around and is shocked to find his siblings and cousins surrounding him.

“Happy birthday Mick!” Mandy shouts jumping into his arms.

“Cute hat bro,” Iggy quips.

Turns out Ian did in fact know what he was doing.

Why is it your favourite? I just love the story and the boys I wrote and so many of their angsty and sweet moments.

Did it come easily or was it hard to create? Both? Some parts came quickly, a lot of the scenes just came to me. But there were some sticky parts I struggled hard with.

Last ao3 fic you commented on? Darkness comes before the Dawn by @ian-galagher @creepkinginc and @transmurderbug and @crossmydna's Locking Down the Locksmith -- both amazing.

Biggest WIP heartache you’ve ever experienced? Things Beyond Mistake -- I am still heartbroken over a year after reading it. What an amazing story I would give my left arm to have finished. We miss you Grayola.

Favorite trope or head cannon you like included in a fanfic? Cocky!Mickey and Tough!Ian. Love when they fall into bed right away and catch feelings after.

Least favourite? I'll read it all but don't love when Mickey after one interaction is all in. Where's the tension! Where's his tough/untrusting side? Also the slow slow slow burns make me insane... not that that stops me.

Secret or surprising kink or trope? A/B/O and really unique AU's like Maintenance or The Circus

Describe how you feel after you’ve created something new? Like I drank some warm tea. Like things have clicked into place for a moment in time.

Top hype man you have that always helps you get across the finish line: I'm lucky to have a few but @bawlbrayker always helps with a beta and a kind word or helps me choose when I'm stuck between options. Why is it your favourite? something in the vibe, dark, tension, colors. maybe especially because it's a scene from the fic and i think it shows their tension quite well?

Did it come easily or was it hard to create? no, at the beginning i didn't get the perspective i wanted, i was interested in this angle with the mirror reflection and was upset when things went wrong because in my head it was perfect lol so i just redrew it

idk, probably Your Question Has Been Received by Macy @celestialmickey but i like the way it stopped on their meet and kiss, and also i know that Macy wants to get back to it one day, so it's not exactly a heartache

slowburn and mutual pining for sure! i love the delving into Ian's bipolar, the emotions and the versions of his depressing episodes hit me all the time. the last time i cried over this was in The Menagerie by @crossmydna

how did you get into the fandom? I learned about gallavich in a subreddit, where i hung out for a while until it started to get real toxic (too much mickey and debbie critique in there for me!). from there, i wandered to twitter, met some lovely people and that led me here to tumblr!

how long have you been here? since December 2021

what's the first fandom channel you found? (youtube, reddit, tumblr, insta, twitter, FB, other?) well as i have massive fomo, i’ll see you on most of them. but reddit was first.   

what's your favourite now? tumblr and discord

which mutual have you known the longest in the fandom? i think it’s @silvanshadow and @samantitheos from twitter! I was verrry shy to interact at all but you were both friendly and fun to talk to :)

Conflict of Interest by @vitalspark (is incredible) and was the first story i  left a comment on back in December ‘21 and that just started it all. 

That and You Deserve Good Things by @chat-noir12 and Like Real People Do by @gallavichy were the first I bookmarked - i remember reading those stories and just sitting in shock about how GOOOD these stories were. It was just unbelievable to me at the time. Thinking how did I go through covid times without them and generally, my whole adult life without fan fic??

How do you feel about your legal name? Are you using it online and/or IRL? the one i was born with got spirited away by a c list actress lmao but my married name is cool and i am happy with it!

How about your sign? Do you feel it "fits"? i really really do. but in the actual way that scorpios are, not the super reductive meme-ified "scorpios are angry and mean" way.

What's your earliest memory related to your birthday? oh this is tough... i can't be sure but it might be that when i was really little (maybe 6 or 7?) i had a birthday party in the party room at mcdonalds and i remember little flashes of that here and there but the main thing i remember is one friend giving me a framed poster of a very lovely watercolor painting of a unicorn mama and baby and my parents put that on my wall and it stayed there for my entire life. now i have it on the wall in my daughters room (she also loves it!)

What's one of the best gifts you've ever received? oh shit, i guess maybe that unicorn poster lmao

How about one of the best you've given yourself? oh my god im actually terrible at gift giving. its one of the things i hate the most about myself. like any other circumstance i know what my friends and family like and will get them things when i see them. but when its time to come up with a gift i just completely blank 😫 so yeah i dunno, no thoughts head empty lmao (omg i misunderstood this question and put myself on blast for no reason 🤣)

Have your ever thrown a birthday party? If yes, tell us about your favourite one. oh yes plenty! my house sucks though so im gonna tell you about how for my son's 10th birthday (double digits is a special occasion right?) we rented out a gymnasium that had a bunch of fun equipment and gymnastics coaches who helped the kids play on it. the kids all had so much fun it was delightful.

What's the ultimate birthday song? uuhhhmmm the one from futurama?
