💧 "So you're constructing... something. Which does... what exactly?" A woman fiddling with a gadget of some sort had caught Furina's eye. So much of Fontaine was supported by clockwork technology and yet that didn't seem to be the norm in this realm. But on the small table set out before the stranger there were a number of gears. Furina picked one up and peered through the hole in the centre.

"I'm afraid this isn't my forte, but it reminds me a little of home... I'm a bit curious." Curious enough to try to have a normal conversation. Something she had been sorely avoiding as of late.

Unfortunately this time of year is a Nightmare ™ for Retail as a whole (I suffer with you my brothers and sisters!), So I have to place Paprika (original character) on a hiatus. She is homed within her own house, the Legiana Hideaway.

“That’s a long time to be away from home.” He thought a year felt long, and yet went by in a blink, he can’t envision being here for five years right now. “I’m just worried whether my family and the rest of my friends are okay. Of course I miss them, too, but I don’t think I actually want them all to wind up here in the end.”

But at the same time it means not seeing anyone else he would know from home.

“A friend from home did show up, but the whole thing was pretty hard on him.”

“It doesn’t really feel like a year has gone by already. I arrived with no clue what was going on, still kind of don’t, and it’s still weird that we’re stuck here. I hope the others that didn’t make it here are doing okay at home.”

pascal follows her complicated, jargon-filled rambling like it's nothing; in fact, she's nodding along the entire time.

"but if that's the case, then they prolly need a really powerful device. the city's got access to heavy-duty stuff from what i can tell, so i guess i wouldn't be surprised if something allows 'em to channel the sun to an extent." she hums for a moment, rocking on her heels, "what if it goes haywire and pshews someone into the vacuum of space, though? stars are huuuge celestial bodies-- all that magic can't be easy to work with!"

the operation's scale is impressive, no ifs or buts about it. she just wishes it wasn't so... mysterious. "man, if only we could pick at our captors' brains a bit. imagine all the cool stuff we'd learn!"

Ah. Now she's having a flashback to one of her classmates - a gnome who has more words than functional prototypes. Not that it's bad in this case, she had pondered many the same question.

"Maybe, it could also be the act of some incredible,near divine level of magic going on. Possibly even a combination of the two, to make up for the short comings of both systems? Would she sense- under normal atmospheric conditions and federal alignments within the astral sea, an eclipsing sun only happens every few centuries in a common area, not multiple times a week- especially not over the course of 6 years. On fact, it's very possible the sun itself acts as a focusing crystal of truly impossible size to allow pinpoint accuracy."
