Wrapping up my "Fire Emblem" Month with...well, that's the thing; I tried to make this one my Favorite Golden Deer, and in the end I did pick Lysithea, but even now I'm not 100% sure if that's quite right when I love so many of the Deer so very much! But in the end, Lysithea at least felt like the right pick, so that's what I went with.

Definitely fun how you give both characters such Bright Vibes but in such distinct ways; the subtle but clear way you make Roller feel very High Energy and Perky while Dusty is more Relaxed and Welcoming, while ALSO showing a shared Positivity between them, is great!

Some really great dynamic stuff going on here! The way each of the side-character portraits flow out from side to side along the motions of Jenny's pose is a clever move that gives the composition a fantastic sense of Energy, and you handle the lighter touch for them VS. the thick strong outline for Jenny PERFECTLY. Most of all, though, I REALLY like the particular angle of motion for Jenny, that subtle elongation/foreshortening effect as her form curves back from the toe up to the head. It's exceptionally well rendered and stylistically impressive.

Due to her rather small size and oversized ears, Indigo is constantly mistaken for a child! It’s a bit of an annoyance, but the result of her being underestimated is a big advantage in a fight.

There’s also the added bonus that the expression on everyone’s faces when she casually drops the fact she’s over three hundred years old is priceless.

Ooh the flare of Rocket's eye and the perspective on Lime's fist are awesome, not only for how well rendered each one is but how nicely they work together with each other to give each character a distinct presence while also giving the composition as a whole that much more energy.

The dynamic between Aries and Dusty here is fantastic (don't worry, Aries, my OC Valir can relate to this situation XD). The way Aries' entire face crumples into that outstretched hand is perfect, especially with the clever choice to let us see the target in the scope. Meanwhile the lighter touch you bring to Dusty's lines (and the equally-clever image bubble to let us know just what awful joke he's tormenting Aries with) lets his particular personality come through in a very charming and unique way.

Ran:

A very young Kitsune (they only have one tail!), Ran ventured out from their village as part of a traditional survival trial and ended up way further afield than intended - so far in fact that they encountered Knuckles and became determined to be his apprentice. Despite Knuckles ’ misgivings ( and the fact he hasn’t named them his apprentice at all), Ran now does their very best to be worthy of being a guardian, following and copying Knuckles as much as they can get away with and learning everything they can about the island.

Ran is ten years old with a playful and earnest personality - despite their kind’s reputation as tricksters (and their own love of practical jokes and ability to disguise themselves as other people) they are a deeply honest person who admires loyalty and sense of duty from others and is quick to remorse when a trick goes too far. They love secrets though, making them determined to find every secret on the island! Their longest running dishonesty is pretending to love grapes because of how much they want to be like Knuckles - their actual favorite food is sweet tofu! Ran loves telling and hearing stories, exploring, and practicing their illusions and kunai skills, but dislikes the dark, being left alone, and malicious lies. They’re full of energy and always ready to go!

Haunt:

Haunt is a recluse who's lived most of his life underwater, an exile from the (Archieverse) Sea Kingdoms, and watched the world from afar without ever really being a part of it. An aspiring henchman new to the surface world who dreams of truly belonging to something great, he's seeking out a superior villain worth his service. His tentacles can reach through solid walls and extend to nearly any length, he practices forgotten sea witchcraft, and no one's ever seen him blink! He's got the power to be a real proper villain, but no spine for it (literally!). He's a bigfin squid! He only ever traverses on his tentacles, finding the texture of the ground icky and overwhelming.

He has a kinda threatening laugh. It’s loud, and he tends to throw back his head/puff his chest out when he laughs. It can often come off as if he’s faking it, but it’s very much a genuine laugh

💣  Stress headcanon

He’s much better at dealing with stress in others than he is with his own stress. With others, if he cares enough, he can figure out how to comfort them, or if they just need him to sit beside them.

But when it comes to his own stress, he doesn’t really know how to comfort himself, and tends to shut down and appear emotionally distant

⌛ Sleep headcanon

Sleep comes pretty easily to him, and he sleeps surrounded by a bunch of pillows. Sometimes he’ll randomly wake up in the middle of the night though, at which point he either goes back to sleep immediately, or he finds something to do for a short while before getting back to bed
