I know this is in relation to an older post of yours, but I need to get this off my chest...did people really hate the original Halo back when it first came out, or was it just the Penny Arcade guys that hated it?
There are definitely people who did not vibe with Halo back in the day. Most of them came from the PC space, I believe, where a game like Halo seemed a lot less special.
Because, like, Halo didn't invent big levels, or shooters with vehicles, or even dual stick analog aiming. You could, if you wanted, pick Halo apart really easily. It had a very long hype cycle, being announced three or four years before it came out, which back in 2001 was nothing short of an eternity.
Bungie made a lot of promises about what they wanted Halo to be, and then delivered on less than half of them once Microsoft came knocking. I believe it's been said they rebuilt most of the game from scratch in only a few months in order to launch with the Xbox. But I also believe they credit Microsoft with lighting a fire under them that helped Halo come out at all, otherwise it may have spent years more in development hell.
But make no mistake, Halo was a big deal. Huge. It may not have invented its ideas, but it used them to bring a type of game to a type of people that had never seen anything like that before. Halo did a lot of things right, even if later parts of the game feel held together by bits of duct tape and a photocopier.
The Penny-Arcade guys were just the biggest jerks about it.

Hello fellow AI enjoyer. I have an AI tier list and I want to add as many as possible, are there any AIs you think are obscure and that I should add? (And also explain what Marathon is, if you dont mind. I think it's Halo related but I cant really tell.)
Hello! :]
i only have a few more obscure ones off the top of my head unfortunately.
first off though, marathon is an old ass trilogy of games bungie (same company behind halo!) made back in the 90's. because of the name its a bit hard to find info on it by just googling lol, and even if you add bungie to your search you'll prolly get info on the newer game bungie is planning to release under the same name. i highly recommend watching Mandalore Gaming's videos on Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal, and Marathon Infinity! hopefully with this you may be infected with the durandal mind virus currently plaguing the small corner of the internet that i inhabit lol
as for obscure ai's, i have a small handful!
ofc i must advocate for the little guy in my pfp and header, pitapat! i made a post talking about him here. he is very dear to me.
Proteus IV from Demon Seed is a really weird one. He is a freak. I bring him up because it's always funny to bring up the absurdity of him getting a woman pregnant. how??? idk. i havent watched the movie yet.
Warframe has a good handful of funny ai as well, the cephalons! I am not very well acquainted with the game but someone sent me an ask about Simaris and I adore him from afar. i am a huge sucker for bossy and bratty ai creatures.
Hopefully there are some new ones for your list! I'm excited to see it once it is complete :D
You may also want to ask @c-53, he may know some other even more obscure ones :]

You :3
I like you :3
I, personally, LOVE the added depth that Halo 2 adds to the series. The Covenant becoming more of a faction rather than "Things that want to kill humans" like most games at the time. And Sargeant Johnson actually becoming Sergaeant Johnson instead of a random Marine with cooler voicelines.
And it sucks that Halo 2 wasn't even finsihed. There was so many more ideas and so much more story that Bungie wanted to add but inevitably couldn't.
And this is a complete wild guess, but I think the main reason a lot of people stuck through with the company through Halo 2's horrencous was because it ended up becoming more of a passion project?
Although that may just be me projecting cause im such a nerd idk
And Halo 3, compared to Halo 2 was.... Well it fell flat on a lot of the built up story beats and seemed to just forget most of the previously established plot??
Also Microsoft and 343 can suck an egg. Halo as a franchise should've ended with Reach, but because it was Microsofts/Xbox's lead money maker. The company's mascot, so to speak. So they couldn't let it end, and they had to bring it back as the trainwreck that was Halo 4.
Halo 2 is a beautiful shitshow. The way it adds to the story and world that CE set up is actual art. The only spots it breaks continuity are where it benefits the story, like with Johnson surviving the first Halo.
Oh my god this got so long. Why do I have much to say about these games. Someone sedate me.
But there is something so. strange. about 2. The guy who did the cursed halo mod, Infernoplus, has said that Halo 2 is a coding mess. The levels are a bit better planned than CE, and the story is insanely good, but the game feels like an inbred pug! The way they coded things are weird and inconvenient in places! You can find ass pics from Bungie employees in the files! It's notorious for crashing for no reason!
I strongly suspect that a lot of the weirdness of Halo 2 is caused by them trying to update and change the code from CE on a short notice. Which. CE's code was probably half of the problem. Supposedly CE started as a side project, turned into a 3rd person shooter, then was turned back into 1st person and they re-coded the entire thing in 9 months. All while Bungie was being transferred to Microsoft. And there were only 15 people regularly working on it.
I really think that CE is just the mess that worked, and that 2 inherited everything that could have gone wrong with CE.
Honestly Halo being a passion project is probably dead on the money, at least in some places. The alien designs are all so unique for the time, the worldbuilding is insanely tight-knit, and the story and characters interact in ways that are so specific and perfect I almost can't believe it was one of the last things they worked on.
But the big thing that gives it away, to me, is the architecture. Somebody. Decided to make separate and distinct designs for the Covenant, Forerunner, and human buildings. This part is normal! It's necessary for a game, even! What is not normal is making each level layout distinct too. Giving the ships and building their own kinds of layouts. Not only that, but hallways that lead to nowhere, dead ends, and rooms that have their own clear purposes beyond being 'room to fight in'.
I keep hearing people talk about how they keep getting lost in CE, and I think part of that is because the levels are designed so strangely! Someone made the decision to make the buildings and ships more realistic, to the (slight) detriment of their player experience!
Whoever made the designs for the ships took inspirations from Alien for the humans architecture. Same for the designs that became the Elites. It would have made sense to try and ride the coattails of that movie, make more money, but that isn't even what they were trying to do! I really do think that someone did this because they wanted to. I think Halo 2 was just them getting to expand on their ideas properly, even with how little time they had.
I know next to nothing about 3 right now lol. It's one that I don't see talked about a lot, and I'm saving actually looking into it until after I've played it myself. I've heard people say it's the worst Halo (besides 5), I've seen people say it's the best Halo, and I'm sure a lot of people say that it's mid. I do figure that some of the plot was set up at the same time as 2's was, since the trilogy was probably planned once the sequel was being produced.
I am a lot more opinionated on 343's games. I definitely think the route they took for 4 and 5 was dogshit. 5 was especially bad, because a lot of the conflict is just super shallow compared to CE. The characters feel so flat because, while there is plenty of conflict in theory, it falls on its face because of the pacing. The writing feels so rushed. Like the story isn't the focus of the campaign, or even of the cutscenes. The characters and conflict don’t get to develop because nobody has time to say anything meaningful to each other.
But I kind of disagree with 4 being a trainwreck, if only because a lot of the story points were set up by 3. I don't think they handled it well, and there were so many places where they could have done better, but I do think it was a progression that could have happened even if Bungie held onto the property. I don't know about the actual gameplay yet though, so there's good odds I'll find issues there if I'm able to play it.
I am also super opinionated about Infinite, because I think that it has genuinely one of the best stories in Halo, even compared to CE and 2. I just think it's held up by mid gameplay in the campaign, and absolutely ruined by the cash grab of a multiplayer. And the story sucks in some places, but even when it sucks it compels me. It’s SO frustrating. It succeeded everywhere 5 failed and failed everywhere 5 succeeded. But I'm never gonna get to play it, so at least I don't have to deal with the gameplay to get to the story :3c

Because you enjoy laughing at bad media here is a nice summary of what happened to destiny's lore: Remember all the at least semi cool ideas they had? Worm gods and ancient alien civilizations? Long forgotten ruins? Space Romans or aliens beyond human comprehension? Vague allusions to things from a higher plane of existence? Yeah no. It is all just one main bad guy behind everything. All those pyramid ships? Empty. The vague idea that the traveler, the giant ball, might not be entirely altruistic and that both it and the mysterious speaker had their own agendas? Nope, traveler is unambiguously good. Even 90% of your enemies get redeemed and you're a racist bigot if you oppose it.
The final expansion has Megamind go inside the ball and you spend the entire campaign with Memberries up to and including bringing back Not-Deadpool. And then there is a heckin epic team up at the end with an inspiring speech just like Marvel to defeat the enemy who has much cooler concept art (https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fconcept-art-for-different-forms-of-the-witness-v0-zef11adbid7d1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1536%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D73154f4fa526dab95b66dee6c04eb5928686f81e & https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fconcept-art-for-different-forms-of-the-witness-v0-umm8badbid7d1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1536%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D36037744c37034765dee5dac936a24e5057a251b) than in reality who is on the verge of destroying the universe named Than--I mean the Witness. And at the end we even have to have the Deadpool guy sacrifice himself, AGAIN, just like iron man, because we need some emotional climax.
Such a fucking shame, so many cool ideas in a pretty mature sci fi and cosmic horror game go the way of capeshit and turn it into the power of good vs evil. I wish Destiny were a worse game to play, but god help me Bungie is still one of the best at making a game feel good to play. But just like HALO, all the cool lore got subsumed into generic bland anime tier bullshit.
I wish any of that surprised me, but I heard years ago that the Deep Lore involved the giant ball who represented The Light running from giant triangles that represent The Darkness. Also I played the Destiny 2 campaign during a free weekend and it was just incapable of logically maintaining tension when characters were immortal, so it just said "no reason, you aren't immortal right now"
That and the infamous advertisements that were the most annoying shit-tier marvel writing. "Save the earth or I'll kill you, that's where I keep my stuff lol"

Don’t get people who say their Cayde fans...and don’t want him back. Don’t you guys want your favorite to get more stories told about them. I know I’m harping on but...In the 4 years Cayde was in Destiny, what did he get, in game wise (not counting weblore.)? He got Taken King and Forsaken. That’s it. That’s nothing compared to say, what Zavala and Ikora got lately. Wouldn’t it have been interesting to see his insecurities and deflecting mechanisms explored in game? Wouldn’t it still be interesting? Frankly, I keep saying Bungie bring him back because the alternative is that he’s forgotten. They’ve already erased him from the Arms Dealer, and I’m sure the nessus strike is next. Sure they might have given us a statue, a piece of weblore, or the occsional mention. But these are just bread crumbs.  One day, unless he’s brough back, there will be no one playing Destiny to care about him. And that’s what motivates me to keep saying this. I won’t let that happen if I can try and stop it.
Bring Cayde back. Bring Red War or Forsaken back. Reboot Destiny. I don't care. If it brings Cayde back, I don't care.
Some people do get over stuff. They’re sad for a bit but then they move on… And Cayde is a video game character so some fans just view him through different lenses. They don’t get overly attached like others have so it’s easier for them to let go and move on. They really believe it’s best for Cayde to stay gone even though they enjoyed having him in the game.
That’s the part I personally will never understand since I am the opposite. I get so overly attached to a game character because real physical attachments are difficult for me to make and keep. I played Destiny as an escape, somewhere I could feel more confident because in reality I’m anything but that. Cayde reminds me of myself in more ways than one so of course he would become an instant comfort character. And I keep my comfort characters closer than these players understand. It’s down to an emotional and painful level. It’s also hard for me to let go. That’s where they don’t get it because they don’t feel the same way and that’s fine, whatever floats their boat. They don’t have to want him back. It’s their opinion, their choice.
I will forever hope to see Cayde again, because it makes me feel happier to hope. To remain optimistic. At least until the game truly does end. I would love to see more content of him. Because to be completely honest, the way the game is going and what the writers are giving us, is not really grabbing my attention anymore. The story is just not there for me. Where it used to be and I really enjoyed it. It would absolutely crush me for Cayde to be forgotten. And that fact just keeps him as a comfort character close because I don’t want that to happen even if he’s not physically real. He might as well be, I mean yeah sure games are pixels but the characters are given voices, stories, backgrounds… pixels are the only thing separating them from the real world.
So yes I do wish Bungie would bring him back so we could see more of him and his story because I REFUSE to believe it would have ended with Forsaken. Had Nathan Fillion been able to stay I fully and wholeheartedly believe Cayde would have too. Forsaken was just a cheap way to end a problem that Bungie didn’t feel like dealing with. A cheap death. Cayde would have given so much to the story had he been given a fucking chance. And had the game had better writers. Sorry not sorry.
If he gets removed from the Nessus strike… god I don’t even wanna think about it.
I’m sure I’ll have a few remaining nay sayers that didn’t block me back in June come crawling out a hole frothing at the mouth over this. If so I’m just blocking. I’m not going through that again. Don’t have the time, energy nor want to deal with y’all people.

The second to my post talking about armoured sci fi game protagonist’s and my headcannons about them now is time for the one the only John halo I mean master chief:
Tumblr media
First off while this post is about the chief specifically I will also be going on a massive rant on halos lore and story and how it has been (and how I wish it were) handled I’m a halo fan what do you expect.
Part one Johns backstory:
First of all the man who was put on the bottle of soder what’s his backstory. Guess what he’s a child soldier who was stolen from his family at birth by the future sci fi US military who have control over all of humanity .He was forcibly put into rigorous training with other children and were effectively test subjects for a military experiment called the Spartan || program many of the children did not survive the training. That’s before they were all injected with effectively super soldier serum that killed off another huge chunk of the children and crippled many others. The survivors were then given mjolnir armour and sent into the battle field but for what noble cause to fight off a revolutionaries fighting the previously established very morally bankrupt military regime that controlled all of humanity , who literally have their own version of the CIA called ONI who are basically responsible for literally every single shady thing the UNSC do in all of halo lore. I find it very funny that the UNSC saw the fact that people were rebelling against them and instead of trying to reason with the insurrectionists immediately decided to do something even more fucked up than what they were rebelling against creating child super soldiers.
Part 2 The covenant and UNSC propaganda:
Once the covenant arrived the UNSC basically started pretending that the Spartan ||’s were made in response to the alien theocratic empire that planned to genocide all of humanity and not the human rebels they were actually meant to deal with. Now I am not at all trying to argue the UNSC is worse than the Covenant cause their not the Covenant if they win are going to genocide all life in the universe. But the UNSC is objectively super evil and are only the good guys in the bungie halo games cause the Covenant are even worse in comparison but that by no means makes the UNSC the good guys. There’s a popular fan theory out there on how the halo games are all in universe UNSC propaganda and the halo books that detail how fucked up ONI and the UNSC actually are is the real halo canon which is a cool idea I don’t know if i necessarily believe it but it’s definitely a cool way to look at the halo games.
Part 3 Halo 4’s story is good(mostly) actually:
Now gameplay wise I find halo 4 somewhat mediocre and downright frustrating when fighting the prometheans but it’s story for the most part is really good yeah it has some eh parts a lot of the forerunner stuff is confusing and the didact is such an underdeveloped antagonist (when you look into his backstory and parallels to the chief and that the didact is supposed to be a representation of what John could become if he continues to be a mindless machine of war it’s just alot of this subtext isn’t presented well in game) but I can look past alot of that for how emotional and well written cortana and chiefs relationship is in the game and chiefs desperation to save cortana as she is slowly dying over the course of the game and her death at the end of the game is really sad it’s just a shame 343 decided to immediately bring her back and make her a villain and I’ve become slightly sick of cortana as for the halo games where you play as master chief she’s been the main plot driver for the last 4 games. But the main thing that I want to talk about is chiefs relationship with the UNSC in this game cause after being gone for 4 years chief who was assumed dead had been turned into a war hero by the UNSC and simple of human military might he’s become a symbol used in all their propaganda for fuck sake they even made in universe merch of him he’s seen as the saviour of humanity . Since he’s been in cryostais the last 4 years the UNSC has become the dominant force of the galaxy with the covenant splintered and broken. The biggest UNSC ships now of the size of the covenant super carriers that once dwarfed them they even had the audacity to name their capital ship the infinity. The Spartan program now is something skilled soldiers can opt into so they can be just like their hero the master chief unaware of the inhumane practices that birthed their saviour that they now celebrate. Subtly the UNSC is shown to be falling to their own hubris which is a really cool plot point it’s a shame the continuation of which is so badly done. Talking about chiefs story again by the end of halo 4 John is absolutely broken with the loss of cortana with the idea she told him about who’s really the machine her or John stuck in his mind and because of this and the UNSC turning the chief into a mythical figure he can no longer relate to anyone else although I’m sure he could still with blue team. The only one near him at the time to help him was laskey (aka the best 343 halo character) who while not fully knowing chiefs pain does the only thing no one else does anymore treat chiefs like a normal human with emotions and try’s to help him feel better ( and it’s my head canon he becomes chiefs therapist and no one can change my mind on this) and it’s such a great direction to take chiefs character I am by no means saying chief did not have emotions before halo 3 he did , even still the master chief as a character was never that well explored before halo 4 and I would be excited to see how his character would be taken after this buuuutttttt:
Part 4: What the reclaimer saga could have been:
“Slams head on desk” 343 WWWWWHHHHHYYYYYYYY
So forget everything I said because 343 sure did master chief is now action man marvel hero who gets replaced by 343’s cool original oc Locke who have to solve the mystery of cortana’s mystery return oh no she’s evil game ends. Sooooooooo yeah also halo infinite I actually really like the campaign the story is okay I like the banished I don’t really like the weapon but that’s more because of what came before her. I like the pilot and I would like his relationship with chief and how chief helps the pilot get over his fear and anxiety but considering we didn’t actually see chief get over losing cortana. Just him being sad and in denial it would have been better if we had actually seen chief getting over the loss beforehand. But yeah also I could not give two shits about the endless they should just have been the flood again. I would have been excited for what came after infinites story if 343 hadn’t confirmed that there was barely any story dlc planned yyyyyyaaaaaayyyyy:(.
So what would I have done very simple make the UNSC the bad guys. Halo 5 would have been about chief trying to re adapt into society and the new UNSC military with help from laskey. Goes on mission with blue team to alien ex covenant planet to find out that the UNSC are subjugating the planet for its resources exactly like the covenant. He and blue team goes rogue as due to no larger threat to take chiefs attention away from the UNSC’s crimes. He realises this time he’s not fighting for humanity but for an authoritarian military empire. That would be the basic plot of halo 5 for me you could have the UNSC send Locke after chief. Have chiefs meet up with the arbiter again introduce the banished in halo 5 but not as powerful as they are to become in infinite cortana does not come back but chief would still have flashbacks to her. The guardians could instead be something the UNSC try to use to tighten their grip on the galaxy which chief has to stop and upon doing cripples the UNSC setting into motion the events of infinite. Also maybe bring the didact back maybe if I have the time I’ll write a full plot synopsis of my ideal halo 5 but until that I’m about done writing this and it’s making me sad about halo again so bbbbbbbyyyyyyyyeeeeeee.

Re: Nezarec talking to us—not sure if delicate tomb allows you to hear him but I’m pretty sure the Duality armor does work in addition to his glaive and Nezarec’s Sin. I’ve heard him on my warlock with a duality helmet on but on an occasion I wasn’t wearing it I only heard whispers. Also, not sure if anyone had asked, but what are your thoughts on him returning/his storyline continuing?
Glad to see it's confirmed Duality armour also works!
Also, as someone who was initially staunchly against re-treading the Nezarec plot after he was confirmed long dead and also ground into dust and drank, I thought it would be... Quite lazy to bring him back just to satisfy people who bet on him being the most important character ever. Especially since... He wasn't really a character. He was a myth.
We're still super unclear on how any of the stuff with him works AND I'm confused about the nightmare stuff because Lightfall CE confirmed that nightmares exist in other Pyramid ships and are not just Lunar Pyramid/Nezarec stuff. Hopefully lore will clear that up!
With all that said... I am super excited to see that Bungie made a way for him to actually do return. I worried that it might feel cheap and out of place, but now that I see it in work, it's not! So far from what we've seen/heard of him, he sounds exactly as I suspected: super evil guy who lives for evil. I LOVE IT! Also super excited that they went back to our original theories with his connection to the Psions being confirmed.
I hope the raid and raid items go deeper into his lore because one of my biggest problems with his story is that he was not sufficiently built up and explained before they dropped him on us in Plunder. Like, to me, it was super cool to see him referenced again in Haunted and I immediately knew that he would be picked up again. But Plunder treated him as a side-curiosity, a lore guy, a myth from the past, someone dead and buried and chopped up and then drank. I felt like Plunder should've made a better way of signalling that he isn't just a guy from the lore. Yes, he speaks from his remains, but so do the ahamkara. He's not special! Yes, he talks a lot about coming back, but so do a lot of our enemies who think they'll be here forever until they meet us.
But that's just one of the many problems with Plunder. I think they kinda ignored that and just put him front and center in Lightfall and so far it's been working out well! Incredibly excited to see more of him in the raid (like, that's about as confirmed as can possibly be) and to learn more about his connection to Psions. That will also bring us Psion lore which we're always in need of. Nezarec is definitely one of the highlights of Lightfall for me, especially as someone who was more or less convinced he won't be. I prefer being plesantly surprised rather than disappointed so that worked out for me!

You have been asked about your theory
arborealoctopodes asked:
Hi I would like to hear about your theory
SO. I’m still working on this one, and it’s Bungie so there’s like a 70% chance it’s something brand new and completely out of left field. But one of the few bits of info we got from the showcase implied Neomuna was the result of a ship that escaped the Collapse. That made me think of an old plot thread from a D1 grimoire card:
I fear my will is not strong enough to shape these worlds. Only the Tyrant can do that, but he will not be a part of my journey. Even his reach has limits, and we will be nine billion miles away. I whisper my concerns to the Tyrant in tiny magnetic bursts. He does not listen. The Tyrant says take the SIVA, and so I take the SIVA. The Tyrant says go to the stars, and so I go to the stars.
Sometime around, but before, the Pyramid Fleet hit the system, Rasputin dispatched a colony ship carrying SIVA to a destination "nine billion miles away”. That line always made me roll my eyes because while it sounds like a lot, in astronomical terms nine billion miles isn’t very far at all. It’s barely 100 AU; the orbit of Neptune is 30 AU out and the Kuiper Belt tails off around 55 AU, and there are dwarf planets like Eris with its high-eccentricity orbit that range out that far. It’s less than a tenth of the way to the Oort Cloud that marks the real edge of the Solar System. At the time I chalked it up to Bungie’s writers grabbing what sounded like a big number and not bothering to do the math.
But. Remember the Solar System wall map in Rasputin’s bunkers during Season of the Worthy? After Neptune it had a few rings for the Kuiper Belt and then an additional planet the same size as Neptune. Astronomers have long debated the possibility of a tenth (or ninth, now) planet, usually nicknamed “Planet X”, that orbits waaaaaay out there*. Planet X is a staple of scifi and unless Rasputin’s playing a bizarre joke on us the Destiny universe has one in the form of a world of significant size way out past the Kuiper Belt. A planet at 100 AU - nine billion miles - from the Sun would fit Rasputin’s map and line up with older theories for a real-world Planet X.
* It may seem absurd that we could miss an entire planet, but planets don’t emit visible light, only reflect the Sun’s, and a world that far out would appear to move so slowly it could be mistaken for a fixed star. These days space-based IR sky surveys have mostly ruled X out - but only mostly.
Golden Age human spacecraft ranged as far as the inner edge of the Kuiper Belt, and Clovis Bray’s journal contains a passing reference to what sounds like a Vex incursion at a research station on Pluto, but the line of permanent human settlement hadn’t yet passed Titan. When Rasputin started building the Exodus program as insurance against the possible extinction of humanity, Planet X would be an ideal candidate for the first wave: close enough to quickly resettle our system, far enough from human settlements that a force targeting Earth might miss it, especially if they kept their heads down. So I’m now thinking maybe the colony ship he sent out with SIVA really was going a mere nine billion miles away - to pitch camp on Planet X.
Pulling an entire Golden Age city out of thin air is a stretch even for Bungie. They’ve had this reveal up their sleeve for a long time, long enough to put Elsie’s fish in the Beyond Light reveal trailer and maybe the mystery power armor Sloane found on Titan in Season of Arrivals. Therefore: what if Neomuna was the reason they included Planet X on Rasputin’s bunker map in the first place? The lightmap was a significant setpiece they knew players would be watching closely, so the artists probably didn’t add it just for funsies. Casually dropping in a new solar system planet is a pretty crazy piece of worldbuilding. And yet it’s barely remarked on in written lore, either then or since - same as Elsie’s fish, which those bastards played the long game on for two solid years. I will bet you a hundred dollars that when the map assets for Season of the Worthy were made, Neomuna was on Planet X. I bet it started out there and got moved to Neptune the way the Deep Stone Crypt was originally going to be on Enceladus (hence Cayde’s message to Petra) but got moved to Europa later in development. I bet the story’s going to be that the colony ship was headed for Planet X, but the Pyramid Fleet hit the system early and they dove for cover on Neptune.
The few early bits of info we’ve gotten on Neomuna suggest their tech is all based around extremely advanced nanites, like the constantly-morphing Quicksilver Storm. Elsie even calls out SIVA the first time she encounters the Neomuna nanites, but says Neomuna’s bugs are vastly more advanced - which you might expect if SIVA were the original city’s lifeblood and they’ve iterated on the tech out of necessity ever since. We also learned the Cloudstriders have very short (10 - 15 years) lifespans because of how much cybernetic enhancement they do to their bodies. Remember the secret experiments Willa Bray was doing with SIVA? She was infusing it into people, trying to enhance physical and mental prowess. And it worked, too - but it drastically shortened their lifespans. To the tune of weeks for Willa’s subjects, but like Elsie said, Neomuna’s had a lot of time to improve. And for meta reasons it would explain why Bungie hasn’t revisited SIVA in recent years even though it’s a popular request from D1 players; they already had a whole expansion of “SIVA, but neon chrome this time,” in the pipeline.
Given that Neomuna’s hidden in the atmosphere of Neptune, there’s a good chance it’s the NEFELE STRONGHOLD mentioned in the Collapse-era Rasputin message - a human settlement that Rasputin then erased all mention of, even from his own memory. If he knew that ship had gotten a foothold on Neptune, he’d probably also know the Pyramids hadn’t found it yet (was this, potentially, because of Savathun? is this the trick her worm claims she played on the Witness? that seemed to be more about the Traveler though.) Exodus Black had crashed, Green disappeared into a singularity, and Red and Blue hadn’t even made it off Earth. Rasputin knew every Exodus ship was a mad gamble anyway. At that moment he would likely consider the Neptune colony to be humanity’s best shot at avoiding extinction. So he cancels its defense as part of his general retreat but also takes the time to erase all traces of its existence, including his own records. He won’t help them, but he will give them a chance to stay hidden and escape the Black Fleet. And since he’s now forgotten the colony exists, he doesn’t check up on them in the following centuries or mention them to us.
Like I said, it’s Bungie, so there’s a 70% chance the lore justification will be completely new and out of left field. But it does line up. In a month of guessing I wouldn’t have called the swerve they took for Lightfall, but now I think they’ve been leaving breadcrumbs for this one longer than it seems at first glance.

Go find a clown robot with a gun somewhere else. I can understand liking a character, and I can't lie, I like Cayde as a character. He's been a nice comic relief in TTK, but I feel they made him too funny in D2. But now, invalidating 3 DLCs and all the wonderful storytelling that happened just because of one funny robot man, then that becomes a problem for me. And examples like "Uuuuh Bungie brought back Uldren and Saint, they must bring back Cayde" no, fuck that shit. Uldren is now Crow, a Guardian and my God I'm so ready for his development during the new season. So that can't happen to Cayde.
Saint? Osiris literally built the Sundial with the only objective of rescuing Saint who die in the Infinite Forest, and not our world. So saving him was also helped by the fact we didn't have to change things in our own time and space, but rather in the ones simulated by the Vex. So we can't go back in time because no Osiris and because Cayde was the cause of his own death.
So, let's say they did bring him back, what would he add to our story? More fun? More reasons for you stans to drool over him? Would he just talk secretly talk about Ace and just that? C'mon guys.
So once again. Enjoy Cayde all you want, do whatever you want with him! But stop living like he's the only reason Destiny 2 should exist, otherwise you're basically telling that everything the devs worked on this years means nothing to you, just because Cayde isn't here.
Love you guys, have fun.

2nd play through of infinite is done, skulls grabbed this time.
My opinion is still: I enjoy
Incoherent typing and Spoilers under the read more.
No organization you’re getting pure stream of mind ramblings here
But the feeling of “that’s it? That was everything?” Is still there. And yes I know it’s because a huge chunk of the game was cut. I just hope the dlc stuff is substantial chunks of story. I’d rather wait longer and get a decent chunk vs being drip fed new stuff
Definitely had more fun playing it this time around cause it wasn’t on legendary and I wasn’t fighting for my goddamn life at every moment
Was chillin on easy mode and ripping through it all.
Anyway uh yeah I don’t really have much bad to say about it. I did enjoy :]
Things I wish we had gotten:
to see literally any other character besides the main cast. Alive. I get they wanted to keep it simple and not confuse new people but I’d have liked to see any friendly faces besides the marines and gotten to fight alongside them. But I get it, you’re mostly alone and everyone is gone I know. I know.
I’m just sayin. It could have been something as simple as a squad of ODSTs spawning at FOBs. Just someone other than the marines lol. Not that I don’t like them! I always protect my marines and give them power weapons. I just want more buddies! They don’t even have to be named buddies. I will name them myself
Terminals! Not a single terminal here. Sad times.
More weapons! I want a carbine! I want a saw! Gimme the beam rifle! Also fuck it bring back the flamethrower who give a shid why not. I don’t care if it sucks it would be fun
Also I think there should have been vehicle variants like the weapon variants. And just buff the vehicles in general. They all felt weak except for the scorpion and a fully decked out razorback. Also bring back the hornet I miss you king. 2 rocket marines on the side. The wasp could never. Hornet forever.
More stuff I didn’t like:
1) doesn’t feel like you do.. enough. And by that I mean yes you save the day etc but it’s just missing something. Like the story didn’t move enough. Too much setting up. But knowing we are getting dlc story puts me at ease I suppose. I’m waiting so patiently. :)
2) ok so. I do like the weapon. But I felt like the reveal that she was “cortana” was like. Not a reveal? I mean I didn’t think she was exactly the same. I thought she was just a new ai made from the halsey brains blue team got in SoR. I thought it was more of a “they’re like sisters” kind of deal but whatever. Not really a complaint I just thought it was a little weird. I was just like. Uh well. Ok
3) spartan killers were a bit disappointing. Specifically jega. You weren’t supposed to die king. I was going to fix you <3 I really was hoping he would actually be hunting you during the campaign and maybe you do a small fight vs him before he runs off.
4) needs more biomes! Weather! More varied areas! I want snow! Desert! Beaches!
Stuff I did like: mr pilot i would die for you and I’m glad Chief agrees
Also chiefs energy in this game.. oh it’s good. That’s my guy right there. He’s not ok. But he keeps going. I do think they went a little too much on the one liners. Like yes I get that’s kind of his deal But it’s different in 2/3 cause he barely talks in those so it’s allowed lol. But other than that I think it’s a happy middle ground between the more talkative 4 Chief and nearly silent bungie era. And can we please talk about how he completely avoids personal questions the entire time. Sweety. What IS wrong with you. Are you okay? No. Ur not. Also I really like how he is with the pilot. It was nice. They hug :] I smiled like an idiot both times I saw it. Also there’s a few moments where he speaks so softly and i screaming and yelling and hollering- if you played it u know what I’m talking about it’s when he and the weapon are going through the data near the end of the game
Anyway I can keep going but I am incomprehensible and yelling and I love my giant green metal husband but I think he needs to rest for real. The fight is being finished since 2007
Maybe I will change my blog title. It’s been that since like. 2016? 2017? But if I do change it. Later. Ce

No one is ever going to see this
Probably best to rant about this on twitter, but seeing as I don't have a twitter, this will have to do: I am an avid Destiny 2 player, and this weekend I decided to waste more than 5 or so of my hours playing Trials of Osiris trying to think of better ways to get people back into the playlist. Cause right now the things that are sticking out to me right now are the following:
The "Flawless Pool" just straight up doesn't work. Today alone I went up against multiple parties that had gone flawless multiple times this weekend.
Matchmaking is low key garbage. Out of all of the matches I played, I only played against one or two teams that were either completely solo players or had one solo player. Almost all of my matches were against flawless 3 stacks.
This is what I am suggesting to help encourage people to stay in the playlist: 1. Make the mercy card ignore losses entirely. Those with a mercy card will be able to get to the lighthouse and get their adept loot without having to worry about gatekeeping three stacks that keep resetting their cards. If gatekeeping is such a massive problem, then just remove gate entirely.
But Nimoy! You might say. That will completely negate the purpose of going flawless!! Well my good man, I only said the mercy card. All of the other cards will still have their flawless benefits, as well as giving you that shiny armor that makes you stand out. I also think that if you go flawless you should be entitled to double loot, such as double adept drops. There should also be some cosmetics available to give out as well for flawless fireteams.
2. Give us waaaaaay more loot after matches. I believe it should be that we get regular crucible gear at the end of each match, as well as a very high chance at random trials gear at the end of the match. Just gimmer and legendary shards ain't going to cut it. You get rewarded significantly more at the end of a regular strike than you do in an activity that is only available for 3 days out of the week.
3. Adjust matchmaking so groups will go up against groups more often. I know that they are working on it, but honestly, it might be too late for the playlist. Having a solo playlist is nice, but it is a MASSIVE band-aid over the underlying problems, which is that the playlist doesn't have many players to begin with.
Also, some weapons and abilities need massive adjustments... I'm very excited for the Galli nerf, but man... There are so many other things that infuriate me about this game. Bubble needs to have its duration reduced and it's timer extended, it's way too powerful for objective based combat. Over shields need to be nerfed in PvP because the void barricade is too powerful for neutral gunfights.
Healing grenade is too powerful seeing as you can just pop it and get the majority of your health back. Health regen abilities in this current meta are just too potent to not use. I'm just glad Classy Restoration is exclusive to this season.
Also, bring Stompees back. I know they were the most used exotic, but man... You guys really hate hunters.
Make trials something that people prep for and get excited for. It's only available on weekends, so why does it hurt so much for Bungie to reward its players with extra loot?
Anyways, here's just a poor man's rant about the state of things. No one is going to notice this or care, but I figured I should write my thoughts down somewhere.

My Weird Dreams #4 "Man Time Travels into the future to spoil the plots of GTA 6, TES6 and Destiny 3 in the present
The other night I had a dream where I opened up my phone and saw a PC Gamer article where a Reddit User named u/BigDick03 was apparently tired of Rockstar, Bethesda and Bungie's silence on their next games. So to spite them, he invented a time machine to travel to the future to snag a copy of these games, bring them to the present and spoil their stories. He was quoted as saying "Y'all didn't announce anything, so I'll announce everything you didn't want said". He travelled to the year 2025 to get GTA 6. 2032 to get TES6 and 2010 to get Destiny 3.
Tumblr media
So we now learned that GTA 6 was set after the events of GTA V and involved Micheal, Trevor and Franklin going on a road trip to Seattle to steal/leak Bill Gates' taxes. The final choice of the game would be deciding what would be the most humiliating way for Gates' taxes to be leaked: Google Drive or Microsoft Onedrive.
Tumblr media
Apparently, this story was quite controversial in the GTA community, with many calling it terrible and a sign of how far Rockstar has fallen with cries to change the story before it releases. The 2 chief complaints where how out of character the characters were as Franklin was shown to be bored and Trevor good at maths.
For TES6, the main story was that a meteor was to hit Tamriel and the player character had to unite the various leaders so they could build a catapult to launch the main character onto the meteor so he could resolve the issue. In the final quest of the game, you land on the meteor and ask him to not crash into Tamriel. There are 2 endings. The good ending only triggers if you have done all the side quests and the meteor then crashes into Oklahoma instead, thus saving Tamriel. Then credits roll (I don't remember what happens to the main character here). The bad ending is if you haven't done every side quest, your character somehow returns back to Tamriel and tells everyone the plan was a bust since he hadn't done all the side quests then credits roll. You don't even see the meteor crash, just Instantly roll credits after your character saying the plan was a bust because "I haven't done every side quest".
Apparently The TES community were much more positive towards this story. The only prevalent criticism was from one guy on r/teslore who says "It would be more lore accurate if there was a 3rd option where your character fuses with the meteor and then they crash into Utah".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Destiny 3, it was really straightforward. The big twist is that Oryx was pregnant. Apparently Destiny fans rejoiced at this with many having predicted it.

It's time for another look at
The Timeline
As always, I am your little gremlin host. Today we simply look at the last 2 months to see wtf's goin on in the world in my attempt to guage the stability of our timeline.
If anyone lives in the middle of the fucking Atlantic Ocean and wants a porche and a VW, great news! There's apparently a cargo ship called Felicity Ace that is ON FIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WET ASS LIQUID OCEAN. The crew safely abandoned it, and under Maritime law, the ship is now Finders Keepers TM. I'm sure that whatever life forms arise from this latest environmental disaster will appreciate being able to drive in style
Nintendo has announced they are shutting down the 3DS and Wii U e stores in March 2023, and some people say they've already hit the Wii U store. Because nothing stops piracy like making games even harder to come by, obviously. Titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles X, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, the entire catalog of the 3ds Pokémon games, and more are gonna be harder to find soon, much like my will to live
Kirby doesn't chew and vores things far too big for his precious little adorable nightmare body. He has ascended to many new nightmarish forms, including KARBY
Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard. Good, keep the annoying CoD and LoL players on Xbox
Sony bought Bungie, which is great for the current 2 games Bungie has worked on in the last 10 years.
Platinum Games is open to BEING bought. Maybe *you* can become their new sugar daddy
Attack on Titan started its final season- er, the second half of it, which is totally different from being a season, I'm sure. I for one am very excited to finally see the day weebs shut the fuck up about Attack on Titan and finally watch and talk about something else. HiS wHoLe sQUaD!!!!!
Shenmue, the game from the SEGA Dreamcast, has an anime now. Now you too can experience a game from the 90s set in the 80s by watching an anime from the 20s that looks like it came from the 10s. Catch it on Toonami Saturday nights, or Crunchyroll
Jurassic World has another movie coming out, proving that everyone most definitely learned their lesson from the original movies and stopped bringing back mutated versions of ancient murder machines
Pokemon has released Legends Arceus, a game where everything wants to kill you, and for the first time since the Switch era started, most fans agree that it rocks, but needs more polish. Finally, some good fucking food after 6 (really 3) garbage fire games
Chip n Dale has a new live action movie in the works based on the amazing Rescue Rangers cartoon show. Of course, what Disney crypt raid or franchise revisit would be complete without making fun of very iconic and beloved voices they themselves made, and what live action adaptation would be complete without replacing those iconic voices with some generic guy's boring ass voice?
There are truckers in Ottowa being annoying and protesting over vaccine mandates, because they can't just be annoying everywhere else. It's okay to be afraid of needles, guys, I swear it doesn't hurt! I've been jabbed 3 times and the 5g microchips doesn't interfere much with the government tracking devices in literally everything else.
Futurama is in talks about getting another season on Hulu, once again proving Matt Groening is some sort of necromancer but for cartoons. Of course the biggest news from this is that the voice of Bender- aka arguably the most popular character from the show- John DiMaggio, does not want to come back unless they can negotiate his contract better and open the floor to give him and his fellow voice actors a raise. This very reasonable act of ensuring everyone is paid fairly is apparently one of the evilest things you can do to the fans, according to like, 5 guys on Twitter. But sure, I'm so certain replacing the show's most iconic character's very iconic voice will go over very well with everyone, like replacing Mario's Charles Martinet with Chris Pratt.
Norway got 15 gold medals in the Olympics! Holy shit! They beat their own record from 2010 where they earned 14, shared with Canada. There's nothing to make fun of here, that's just cool
Apparently a lot of Catholic baptisms are suddenly being invalidated due to the usage of "we" instead of "I," which has thrown many of the religion into a frenzy due to having similarly worded Baptisms. Basically, imagine you've lived your whole life by the book, helped countless unfortunates, gave away your riches, confessed every sin, served your god dutifully and worshipped him every hour of every day and attended each and every church session no matter what, gave a kidney to the little girl with an extremely rare blood type that you happen to match, you are a genuinely good person and an excellent example of Christianity and have never asked nor expected anything in return, and you STILL don't get into Heaven because St Pete asked for RC Cola and you were given Sam's Cola, and couldn't tell the difference once the guy poured it into your red solo cup. That's about the situation a lot of people seriously think they are in.
The following has to do with politics and war. If that's not your vibe, scroll on. I should also mention I am just an ordinary Joe with a hardly a penny to his name. I am not a news reporter, I'm not a journalist, or anything of the sort. However, most of this can be found by Google, so take that as you will
The Trumps apparently aren't cooperating with subpoenas, and Trump apparently got pissy about them going after "children" like his 40 year old daughter Ivanka. 40, that's barely out of diapers! Hey, remember when he said on live TV that he'd date his own daughter if he could?
Speaking of, apparently the horse's ass is keeping very important TOP SECRET docs at Mar-A-Lago, including love letters (as he called them) to Kim Jong-un and President Obama's presidential letter to him. Hey, at least he didn't violate the Presidential Records Act- oh wait, HE DID, and much like last time, he probably won't get punished for it.
Rudy Giuliani, aka Mr "LETS HAVE TRIAL BY COMBAT," was also subpoenaed. He claims its illegal. I wonder how legal inciting violence and an attempted coup is?
Just a personal opinion, I'm very tired of hearing anything about the Trumps or any of their cronies. Follow the example of the Dodo bird: Look stupid, go away, and never be heard from again. Please.
And in a very serious turn of events, Russia is trying to invade Ukraine. I don't want to frighten anyone, so you can Google if you need more info, but things are looking pretty grim. But if you have anxiety or depression, try not to doom scroll, okay?
Tumblr media
Here's a pic of a Lemur to help calm your nerves. Look at it. Beautiful creature. Call him whatever you want, he's here to be your friend.
Anyway, see yall again in like a month or two

okay, I have woken up and had my coffee.
I'm still weirdly obsessed with the Sundial... Like, sure, it's pretty possible it really isn't that relevant at this point in time to know exactly how it operated, but the fact Osiris was secretive about that component and that he's still being so vague about it makes me go insane.... so I might be a just a little bit biased. Also, I admit I forgot half of Wish's lines, so the Ahamkara thing is out of the picture i guess.
Maybe it does tie a little into how Maya could be messing with Saint's memories. Clearly, it has to be related to the Echo, given how Darkness is tied to memory. Or maybe it's some knowledge she could have gleamed from the Veil. I tried going through the Veil Logs again to see if there's anything that can clue us in her plans but they are really keeping that close to the chest. She's testing the concept of personhood, but given that she styles herself as a Conductor, we know it's the real Maya Sundaresh and not one of the 200+ copies in the Vex Network, so why is she testing for this? In a sense, she's been experimenting on this vein even before "dying" when she "copied" herself into Lakshmi-2 using dozens of braindead Exos as fuel.... I don't know where I am going with this...
Then there's the lack of Perfect Paradox the Third so far, which most assuredly is being kept on hold to use it as our tool to advance the plot, along with the Vex redirecting radiolaria toward the Nessus core... I can't help but think that the Conductor might be trying to build a another Infinite Forest. Or at the very least build enough to make a connection to the sealed IF (but that would be difficult without bringing Mercury back. Speaking of.... What happened with that, Bungie???). The Infinite Forest was, after all, the hollowed out core of Mercury terraformed into a simulation engine. Can't imagine what else the Vex could be doing given what we know and what was shown in the trailers. If it really is that, then Vance is gonna be pissed.
OH, RIGHT. VANCE. The guy Osiris seems to have specifically and casually forgotten about. I can't help but notice this was kinda the first time we noticed these two having conflicting memories. And now it would be two times, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice... And with seemingly "trivial" occurrences
I know the entry sounds like a joke but Osiris never forgets people who annoy him. He's petty like that.
Also also, I wanna add something that @corvidshadow told me yesterday about the way Saint-14 remembers his confession compared to Osiris. The way Osiris remembers it feels like a pretty casual and grounded event, unique to them and quite improbable to be staged, with a lot of nuance. Then Saint comes out with the most cliched and story-book-like confession scene possible, almost dreamlike.
Almost as if it was manufactured by someone that knows of these 2 but doesn't truly understand them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sundial mentioned! Random lines in one of the battlegrounds. It feels like not even Ikora knows the full extent of it. The "paracausal disruption" is, I assume, the shotgun. It's what tied us to Saint and made sure we're only ever interacting with one of them. Most importantly, with the right one, contrary to what Saint believes now.
I feel like the shotgun might be brought up somehow again. They already told us Perfect Paradox will return in Act 2, but it's not available yet. So maybe at a specific point during the story? Either next week or week after. Maybe it might be a point to convince Saint or explain things to him. Eagerly waiting to see if any of this will be further explored; the Sundial, what we did to save Saint and the Perfect Paradox are all fairly important.
