I just crocheted a pillow at like 2am, and it took me five hours.
That’s five hours that I probably should’ve been sleeping instead 🥲 but alas; crocheting has become my new hyper fixation and I can’t run from it.

Braided Ear Warmer
I used a pattern I found online (linked below!) with a similar theme for reference, but modified to match the yarn I had:
Row 1: 60 foundation half-double crochet (fhdc)
Row 2: 60 half-double crochet (hdc)
Tumblr media
Repeated x4 to make four strands.
The next steps more-or-less followed the pattern, with 2 rows single crochet (12 sc/row, 3 per strand) to connect the strands at one end.
Tumblr media
Then, braided together; connected with single crochets on the other end; and whip stitched the two ends together.

The yarn I used:

And we're into October (I swear, every time I blink it's a new month!) We're actually starting to need jackets and light scarves in the evening now; and it's the perfect time to cozy up with a super-squishy cowl - hence why October's Featured Pattern is the Snowdrop Lace Cowl.
Don't worry, if you don't have the pattern, it's 50% off through the month of October.
Plus, if you finish a cowl by the end of October, (don't worry, WIP's accepted!) you have the chance to win a Gift Card from Knit Picks. (US/Canada only at the moment, sorry!) or 4 patterns of your choice from my web shop!
Other cool stuff to know:
The cable stitch pattern is both charted and written.
The pattern has a large-print version for folks who need it (this version also works with screen-reading tech)
It comes in one size: with a 24.75 inch (63 cm) circumference, but, instructions are included on how to adjust it!
It uses 135 yards (123 metres) of super-bulky yarn.
The pattern description is non-gendered (because cowls are universal to keep your neck warm, irrelevant of gender!)
Sample was knit in Blue Sky Fibres Bulky which is a bit tricky to find a stockist for now. I'd suggest either Knit Picks Wonderfluff, or Malabrigo Rasta (both of these are affiliate links, I get a commission if you make a purchase, don't worry, there's no additional cost to you!)
If you're a Patron, you can download the pattern here
Anyway, you can find all the details about how to enter the Knit Along on the Pattern Page, and if you've got any questions, please, drop them on this post or in the Ask Box!

Finished this a while back. Using 3 skeins of bulky yarn titled “schoolyard,” I made a scarf and hat set. More to come!

So, uh, I broke out the textile yarn and did a solid (5 rounds of double crochet; corners made by using triple crochets) granny square
Did one round of single crochet as a border and then continued with double crochets perpendicular to the square into those single crochets
I now have a 28 x 28 cm basket with a 5cm border around it
I might post the progress and finished photos but first I need to wait to get two more bobbins(?)
I didn’t think I’d like this color but actually Hoooked RibbonXL Spicy Ocre looks good for a basket/ drawstring bag
The bottom corner is keeping shape better than I expected given how simple “tilt 90° and crochet around the single crochets” was as an approach; I mean I worked “between” the double crochets and the outer corner of the single crochet, around those “necks” of the single crochets

I go to a crafting faire. I see a stand with knitwork. I approach. To prove I am not like the other plebians, I flip it over.
I compliment the floats. I ask if they blocked it.
The woman is suitably impressed. She sees I am like her. We talk about the wool blend for a couple of minutes, and I buy nothing.

my OTHER toxic knitting trait is ignoring gauge entirely for plushies and being pleasantly surprised by the creacher's final size when it's done

Tapu Fini shell design attempts
Okay so I made Tapu Fini in 2022, but I hadn't done the shell design yet (kept it as a blank purple shell) because I couldn't find a satisfactory way of doing it. Normally I like to crochet everything like color changes and little designs directly in the round instead of adding them on top. The Tapu line is probably going to be one of the few times I opt for adding the details on top because the shell is a flat piece so hiding the color change yarn ends is more of a hassle. However, idk if that means I'm going to get felt or try to yarn felt it or up my embroidery game or what, but I'm putting this back to the side again because it's annoying lol

yo my wrist grew extra fucking bone due to repeated trauma bc of crochet 😭😭😭 be careful out there
the human body was constructed with popsicle sticks and glitter glue it's not our fault if everything we love and value in this world causes it to break down before the age of 30 :(
