Master Grade Polypodball
I love Ball. He's so cute 🥰
Really nice build but the decals were a pain to get on all those rounded parts.

HG Momokapool
Tumblr media
I am declaring this the cutest gunpla! What's not to love? It's cute, it's adorable, it's small, and it comes with an even smaller Kapool hiding inside! The build is easy and straightforward, and all together only took me a few hours. Definitely a must have if you love the Kapool!

HGBD:R 1/144 P-Bandai Planets System PFF-X7 "Core Gundam" [Real Type Colour] + Planets System Armour Unit PFF-X7/M4 "Marsfour Gundam" (Dive Into Dimension Clear)
This is the second of three core-system gunpla I've bought over the past few months. I was looking for a Marsfour to go along with my Earthree, and found this one pretty nicely discounted instead. While I don't usually go for clear kits, especially when the white is this sort of milky translucent clear instead of true clear, the cool sparkles within the plastic sold it for me.
The kit contains both a recolor of the Core Gundam, in the "Real Type Colour", resembling Tomino's initial RX-78-2 palette, as well as the base parts for the Marsfour. Disappointingly, despite being a P-Bandai version of the kit, the weapons were not included.
Just as with the Earthree's core gundam, this little unit is nicely articulated. It comes with a small beam spray gun and the core gundam's half-shield.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shield nicely shows off the new weathering technique I've been trying out. This combines a heavy drybrushing of dark. gunmetal, a top pass of light silver (Citadel Necron compound works really nicely for this), and some Tamiya gunmetal pigment powder to catch the high edges (Weathering Kit C). I think I really managed to bring out the edges and portray a distressed look, as well as enhance the contrast and bring out a lot of the smaller details.
Again, like the previous kit, there are two small beam saber effects for the core gundam, this time in a really nice super clear trans-yellow.
Tumblr media
The yellow effects work nicely with the gold foil stickers for the eyes and auxiliary sensors.
Like the Earthree Gundam, the Marsfour parts build into a support plane. A lot of the parts are nearly identical to the Earthree, with similar forearms, skirt, and leg design, but with an overall spikier design aesthetic.
Tumblr media
Forming the full Gundam works just as I outlined in my Earthree review, and the final form looks just as impressive.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately unlike the Earthree there's no shield upgrade or gun extension, and the backpack lacks the cool wings from the Earthree as well. Instead, the gimmick of the Marsfour armour is the two flip-out claw/shields attached to the forearms. Thankfully the core-sized beam spray gun still looks ok on the full Marsfour. Again, like Earthree, there are a pair of longer beam effects to use alongside the bigger armoured-up gundam.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As both kits utilize the "Core" system, you can mix and match pieces from Earthree and Marsfour together. I really like this concept, as it lets you customize a final form with your favorite colours and gimmicks. If cash wasn't a concern I'd definitely try and collect as many of the other kits as possible to mix and match.
Tumblr media
The Marsfour/Earthree combo still looks really nice, however.
Overall I had fun with this kit. Cleanup is a little more difficult with a clear kit, as is panel lining. It turned out a lot messier than I would've liked, and it was hard to see where all the grooves were. I probably won't bother with any future clear kits. It was also difficult to hide or sand away the nub marks.
Overall, while I'm upset at how these kits are priced, and sold independent of their weapon upgrades, I still really enjoy the concept. I have one more core-system kit to show off for now, which should show up in the next couple of months. I really think it's worth trying at least one of this type of kit, if you enjoy HGs.
Interested to hear other modeler's experiences with clear kits.

there's a trend going around where you put your favorite female characters in a poll and people vote for their own personal favorite out of the list, so i'm gonna do that with my favorite gundam women! only one from each series, and only the ones i've seen of course

Golden Riser
00 Diver Ace[Gold Coating] + 00 Riser
Thought it would be fun to use a gold coated kit for an actual gold frame. Used sharpies to tint the clear parts that went over the joints, and I had cut new stickers for the insides of them using a fancy sticker paper. Same sticker paper was incorporated into the sword. Also, I like to imagine it’s rifles have the capability to drain another suit of its energy/particles/etc, because the rifles themselves peg directly into Riser’s arms.

HGBD:R 1/144 Alus Planets System AGP-X1 "Alus Core Gundam" + Alus Planets System Armour Unit AGP-X1/E3 "Alus Earthree Gundam"
My third Core System set!!! I really have to get around to watching Re: Rise now. Compared to the previous Marsfour and Earthree kits I built, the Alus Earthree has a notably more menacing design language. It shares many of the same parts, including the entire Core Gundam sprue that was common between Marsfour and Earthree, however introduces several new and unique parts for the arms, legs, and body.
I really liked how the Alus Core Gundam differentiates itself. The longer arms, spindly fingers, and clawed feet make this suit look menacing, and the head design looks really cool. The foil stickers go on nicely and the main eye is super reflective behind the purple hood. You can choose between a red sticker for Alus or a purple one for Eldora. I went with red to add some contrast with the darker purple color scheme of the kit.
Tumblr media
Just like the other two Core Gundams there's an impressive level of articulation baked into the little model. A neat bonus was the inclusion of actual hand options, with two open, two closed, and a beam effect handpiece in trans-purple. Unfortunately, there weren't extra hand back pieces. You need to juggle the two the kit comes with between all the hand options.
Like the other two kits, this one includes a small beam spray gun. There's no colored part to compete the shield, unfortunately, nor are there any beam sabers (instead of saber racks, this suit has two thin stabilizers on its backpack). Instead, there's a hand option piece depicting a beam effect coming directly out of the suit's fingers, which looks really cool. One minor nitpick is that the hand backing for this piece is a sticker rather than a separate part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like the normal Earthree Gundam, this kit includes a full set of armour-up parts including extensions to the beam spray gun to turn it into a really cool looking beam cannon. The parts attach to the core unit in the same way as the base Earthree parts, but have interesting design variations, including more claw-like feet, a large set of four wings for the back, and some really nice purple details done using the foil sticker sheet. Due to the longer arms, there are no arm extension parts. There's also a new unique head for the Alus Earthree Gundam mode, with a crown-like v-fin design over the red foil eye sticker.
Tumblr media
Unlike the other two kits, the Alus Earthree Armour isn't stored on a flight platform. Rather, there's a rather odd separate piece that you can attach all the extra option parts to, including the spare heads, extra hands, and Alus Earthree Armour bits. I don't think this is an in-universe delivery method, but it's a cool little extra to hold all the parts together when they're not on the kit.
Tumblr media
The beam cannon is one of my favorite parts of the kit. It's a set of five parts that clip over the beam spray gun piece. The front two mandibles can open to deliver a less focused, larger area of effect shot, and a side part pops open to reveal a handle for two handed poses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ended up doing quite a lot of detail work on this kit. There's some Citadel Necron compound drybrushing on the light gray frame parts, as well as gunmetal and silver pigment powder (Tamiya weathering set C) over all the darker parts, and some soot and blueing effects on the gun (Tamiya weathering set D).
Tumblr media
I ended up enjoying the Alus Earthree Gundam a lot more than I thought I would. It's a really fun build without too many small parts or complex techniques, and the metallic foil stickers are really well chosen and help the kit pop. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get into HG gunpla, or who wants a kit with decent color separation, good design, and fantastic panel lines out of the box - I don't think there's anywhere you'd have to scribe to add detail!
I still don't know who Alus is though...
