Moon in the Day, ep 14
Honestly, I really loved how they ended this. There are some minor questions that I have but nothing too important.
I suspected we'd get a bit of a flashback before dealing with So Ri Bu and it was the sweetest scene of them in the morning. We also get a bit of an extended scene from where they bought the rings. Do Ha, was expecting his father to find them. Hoping he wouldn't but suspecting he would.
In many ways, I think that the fight between Ri Bu and Do Ha is seeing which is stronger - Do Ha's love for Yeong Hwa and need to protect her vs Ri Bu's resentment and revenge now that they both have physical form.
Of course, Ri Bu tells Yeong Hwa that Do Ha will disappear if they break the curse. He also seems to be trying to convince Do Ha to let him kill Yeong Hwa or else they will be separated forever. Which shows again how much he does not understand Do Ha. If it means Yeong Hwa will be safe, and he never has to watch one of her reincarnations die, he will be at peace leaving her.
I was pleased with the tree branch stabbing death, though I'm not quite sure how that destroys him since he is a spirit but maybe Do Ha had to kill the physical body. Plus it could also be because he was already weak or maybe it was past midnight. Doesn't really matter because finally he is gone.
Their goodbye was heartbreaking - both of them. Just after destroying Ri Bu and under the tree (in a parallel to their Silla times). His love and devotion for her really knows no bounds.
Joon Oh coming back was a bit interesting. I hesitate to say it's implausible given the whole 1500 year curse, ghost and evil spirit aspect of the show. What I've come around to is that is the universe's (or maybe Do Ha's) way of saying thank you for the use of your body. The man was pretty dead and had terminal cancer, but he was given a second chance. I do like how he wasn't instantly cured but still had to go through chemo.
I also like that he had echos of Do Ha, similar to how Do Ha had some of his memories. But he was never the reincarnation of Do Ha despite being his doppleganger. Do Ha being Joon Oh seems to have matured him (plus going through chemo) because I cannot see pre Do Ha Joon Oh handling the box of trinkets or meeting Yeong Hwa that way.
I love that Joon Oh gave Yeong Hwa some closure and that they will both live their lives the best they can. The letter made me cry, but also reaffirms again that Do Ha was at peace with leaving her, though not happy about it. "But I couldn't put you in hell in which you can die at any moment. Because my only reason was to live was to protect you. Don't give up after losing me. You'll get to look back sometimes, but leave our farewell behind, and do your best to be devoted to today". As always, he wants her to live. And I think it helps that he knows he will be remembered.
I flat out adore that she had the dream of their end in Silla but makes a different choice. And he knows it's different and won't change anything just as she does. But she wants to make a different choice in her dreams so they can be together. Though they still meet a bad fate in this version of the dream.
I am beyond happy that we got a Bugasal/Sunny and Grim Reaper ending for them. It's not a coincidence that they meet in a historical setting and see the moon in the day. They are clearly connected, but without all the painful bloodshed.
This is one of my favourite shows of the year.

ITS OVER I LOVED IT.
Things I want from Bulgasal, in no particular order:
More found family scenes. 🥰
OMG The last five minutes were GOLDEN. Siho and Doyun finally got their family in that crappy dilapidated house!!!
More found family committing crime together scenes. 🔪🥰
YESSSSSS stabbing and shooting and poisoning ... even if it didn't go to plan.
The explanation of how Ok Eul Tae & Hwal conspired against Bulgasalady to take her power 1,000 years ago, and how that led to the bloody mess 600 years ago. 🩸👀🩸
HWAL CURSED EVERYONE THAT BULGASALADY LOVED. AND THEN USED OK EUL TAE'S SOUL TO DIE AS A HUMAN SO HE COULD REINCARNATE AND TORTURE THEM. THIS FUCKING DRAMA LLAMA.
Hwal's ANGST when he discovers that he was the original idiot who started all this mess. 😱 👀
AND THEN HE DIED SOULLESS ON PURPOSE SO THAT THE TORTURE WOULD END. MY HEART.
(But it was probably actually Ok Eul Tae, lbr.) 😒
HWAL DIDN'T WANT TO BE A MONSTER, HE NEVER WANTED TO KILL BUGASALADY, HE JUST WANTED TO BE WITH HER AND OK EUL TAE WAS A BIG FAT LIAR I KNEW IT.
Si-ho randomly asking to hold everyone's hand FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON, JUST CHILL, EVERYTHING'S FINE, I'M NOT SNOOPING INTO YOUR PAST LIFE, GEEEZ. 🤝 👀
THANK YOU FOR USING HER POWER FINALLY. I also love that we never got an explanation, she was just powerful all on her own without the Bugasal connection.
Sunshine angel cupcake Bulgasalady HULKING THE FUCK OUT with righteous fury to protect her found family and also the 600-year-old boomer idiot she fell in love with, while stabbing him a few times to ensure he learned his goddamn lesson to end this ridiculous millennial-long bad karma cycle and throwing Ok Eul Tae in his eternal time out. 🔥❤️🔥🔪🔥❤️🔥
What. A. Waste. She deserved to have more revenging time. I don't care about her stupid promise not to hurt humans, she should have slapped that soul into Hwal, bitten the fuck out of Ok Eul Tae and then big spooned him into a double Bugasal heart stabbing.
Do-yoon becoming a big bro FINALLY AFTER 600 YEARS! 🥰
HE GOT HIS HAPPY FAMILY. I'm SO FUCKING HAPPY for him.
Ok Eul Tae playing Solitaire in the well for all eternity, complaining that no one will play his boring-ass boardgames with him down there. 😟🃏😟
I guess he's been reincarnated as a fish or a bug or an idol who's not allowed to eat delicious things ever.
Things I am looking forward to creating as soon as Bulgasal ends:
The messed-up family tree I will piece together when we learn everyone's connections. ❓👩‍👩‍👦 🌳 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 🌳 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 🌳 👨‍👧‍👦❓
Oh, it's coming.

Moon in the Day, ep 13
The more Do Ha and Yeong Hwa actually talk and learn more, their perspectives shift.
Yeong Hwa no longer convinced that Ri Ta’s choice was right and that maybe Do Ha was right in his belief that all he needed was to protect her and be by her side.
I loved Do Ha’s conversation with the monk and how the monk was able to help him see that he was never tied to this world because of resentment but for the his need to protect the one he loves.
I also love how Yeong Hwa was able to apologize for killing him and how he was able to forgive, since he knows it came out of a place of protection. Which is a very odd sentence to write but it’s also true.
They also finally did the smart thing and told Na Yeon everything. Na Yeon, has been amazingly logical about the whole situation with her friend and the ghost (though she was missing some details).
Do Ha understands that once he destroys his father, he will cease to exist. And while I don’t think he’s happy about it, I think he at least will be at peace with it. Because it means that Yeong Hwa is forever free of his father. It’s something his father cannot understand. Even at the last moment, when she killed him he told her to live.
As for how this will end - I don’t think it’ll be happy. So Ri Bu finding them at the end of ep 13 is a bit surprising but it should take a little while to resolve. The promo is likely misleading, because I don’t believe that is Do Ha. Though Joon Oh coming back would be weird. Still, I’m fairly certain Do Ha will disappear.
At most, we may get a snippet of their next life like in Bugasal or if we are extra lucky a longer bit similar to Sunny & the Grim Reaper in Goblin.
