”Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.”
Rupert Giles x Witch! Younger! Reader
You and the Scoobies try to have a normal Thanksgiving. Try, anyway.
[ w — age gap (20+ years), older man/younger woman, injured! reader, assumed unrequited love, short story, tv show-compliant only, slight canon divergence ]
— divider cred: @/inklore
Living above the Hellmouth meant that nothing would ever be normal. No holidays, no birthdays would ever be like the average person’s.
Thanksgiving and Christmas was the same. Monsters and creatures of the dark never took days off, not with their insatiable need to be evil.
Buffy sighed as she staked what was probably the 20th vampire of the night. Thanksgiving was a time to sit down with friends and family, having a lovely, large dinner and being thankful for the people in your life and the things you had.
But not for the Scoobies.
You huffed, rolling your sore shoulder. A vampire had taken a good chunk out of of your neck, but the second he tasted your blood, he instantly revolted, and you took a stake to his heart.
“You good?” Buffy asks, eyeballing your shoulder.
“Yeah.” But you hiss a little as pain flares through it. “It’s just gonna take a minute to heal. I’ll put some bandaids on it when we get back.”
Buffy cheerily and knowingly chips in a, “I’m sure Giles would disapprove.” That prompts you to give her a deadpan look.
“You know that he doesn’t like me like that,” you reply. You shove your hands into your pockets. “It’s a one-way street. Can we talk about something else?”
She shrugs. “Sure.”
The two of you walked side by side out of the graveyard. Buffy sighs, tilting her head down.
“I really wish Christmas could be normal,” she admits. “I miss it, from when I was a kid. It’s so much different from now.”
“Not as involved with monsters, you mean?” you say, and Buffy nods in confirmation. “Yeah, me too. I feel so… apathetic about it anymore. It doesn’t feel as important, as fun as it used to be.”
“Cons of being apart of the supernatural world,” she adds.
“Truly.” You laugh. “Not to mention—” A scream rips from your throat. Cold heat washes through you and up your spine, all the way up to your skull. Your head jolts back at the pain, and the cold heat leaves as the wooden stake leaves your body, now replaced by odd, liquid warmth.
Oh, you’re bleeding. Bleeding out, perhaps.
You heard the slaps and thuds of fighting as you fall to the ground. You try to have some semblance of control as you collapse in pain, but it doesn’t work. You bump your head into a headstone and more liquid oozes down your skin.
You hear the familiar hissing sound of dust. Buffy’s won. Now you see her over you, terror and fear written all over her features.
“[Name]? [Name]? You with me?”
You gulp, attempting to focus and swallow down the pain. “Kinda,” you hiss.
“Healing magic? Can it fix this?” she inquires hurriedly.
“Probably,” you reply, becoming more and more breathless.
“I’m gonna put pressure on it, okay? The second you feel any sort of clarity, start chanting.”
You let out a loud cry of pain, more blood coming out and staining your shirt. The pain signals the adrenaline in your body. It takes you a couple seconds longer than what you hope before you start chanting in Latin.
It feels strange, your body stitching itself back together. The strange feeling of blood coming out of your body disappears. You huff, the chant ending a minute later. Buffy takes her hands off the wound and you watch her examine it.
“How’s it look?”
“Looks good, head wound is gone, too,” she says. “But we need to get you back to the Magic Box. Giles and Willow might have something they can help you brew up to get you fully healed.”
You lean up using your elbows and hands. You take Buffy’s hand and let out groan of pain as you get to your feet. You two walk out of the graveyard and head to the Magic Box. You thank God it’s dark and no one can see you and your best friend walk through the streets of Sunnydale with her holding you up.
The Magic Box comes into sight not ten minutes later. Buffy uses her key to open the door, but neither of you expect to see the floor of the Magic Box completely cleared out, with a large, decorated table filled to the brim with food and drinks.
Xander is the first to turn his head up and see you and Buffy.
“Happy Thanksgiving, you guys!” he says.
“Happy Thanksgiving, Xander,” you speak breathlessly. And that’s when he knows something is wrong. His eyes trail down to your bloodied shirt and widen drastically.
“Oh, crap.”
“Oh, crap is right.” Buffy sets you down in one of the nearest chairs. “Get the others and tell them [Name] needs a healing potion… or some sort of healing magic. The wound isn’t as bad as it looks, but she needs help crossing the finish line.”
“On it.”
Xander heads to the back to get the others, who come rushing in not a moment after he gets them.
Unfortunately for you, all you can focus on through one eye (the other squinted in pain) is Giles, and the look of worry and concern on his face.
“She’s very pale,” Giles says. His voice is clearly worried. It almost seems borderline… terrified?
“Blood loss,” you say in a shakily exhale. “Healed, yes. Blood back inside the body? Not so much.”
“Can you do anything, Giles?” Buffy asks.
“Let me see the wound and we’ll see.”
You raise your shirt, showing off the nasty scar. It’s not fully healed, maybe three-quarters. You look away, eyes meeting Buffy’s, who’s expression is borderline teasing and full of amusement. You roll yours in return.
“Nothing out of my capabilities I can’t heal,” Giles says. He looks up at you and adds, “But I do have to touch it to heal it.”
You shake your head. “It’s fine.” The second Giles places his hand on the injury though, a large wave of nausea makes you shudder and groan.
“She looks like she needs a trash can,” Xander pipes.
“I’ll get one,” Anya offers, disappearing behind the counter momentarily to grab one. She places it next to you and you thank her.
Giles’ warm hand leaves your lower torso. The wound is completely healed, although you still feel faint from the blood loss. He looks at you again, scanning over your sick expression.
“I’ll be fine in a bit,” you tell, a smile appearing on your face. “I think some food in my stomach would do me some good. Thank you, Giles.”
“You are most welcome,” he replies, standing. “And I think you are absolutely correct. Shall we eat?”
Buffy nods and speaks for everyone’s hungry stomachs. “We shall.”
Dawn sits between you and Buffy. Xander, Anya, and Dawn are on the other side of the table. At the head of the table, between Xander and Buffy, is Giles. Just like a father should be, you think, humored.
“So… What happened? How’d you get such a wound?” Willow asks.
You and Buffy answer in unison: “Vampires.”
“Thought we were done and one caught us by surprise with one of the stakes,” Buffy explains. “[Name] used her magic, but she couldn’t heal it all the way.”
“Glad you both made it back,” Xander said happily. “This Thanksgiving dinner we put together would’ve been a total bust.”
Everyone laughs in agreement and digs into the food. Unknowingly to you, Giles can barely keep his eyes off of you, only looking away to take a bite of food off of his plate. Though he does try to it make it obvious.
Indeed, he’s glad you made it back. He’s glad he’s able to heal your injuries. Life would certainly be a lot more dull without you around.
But as Anya hands you the gravy, you catch Giles staring at you out of your peripheral vision. There’s a look on his face, one you know well, because it’s the same one Spike gives Buffy when she’s not looking.
You smile and raise your glass in a toast. “Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.”
Everyone raises their glass cheerily, downing a swig.
You thank this Thanksgiving for giving you hope. Even if it doesn’t last.

i could be your girl, but would you love me if i ruled the world? | faith lehane x fem!reader
I'M BACK!
It's been so long, isn't it?
Anyway, life got so busy I couldn't even breathe this year.
But it's October, it's Halloween and it's BTVS SEASON!
Honestly, I've been obsessed with all the Buffyverse these days, and, honestly, I couldn't end Halloween and October without writing something about Faith.
So, that's why this blog is back, for one day.
No, requests are still closed. Sorry!
ENJOY!
(I just wanted to thank the two edits of Faith from Tik Tok that I saw with this song and that gave me the idea for this oneshot, last. Enjoy now!)
-----------------------
PROMPT: Nothing much, just you, a complete, bitter, hard-hearted, closed-minded slob falling in love with another bitter, hard-hearted, closed-minded slob - and just a little bit of a sense of humor.
***
Ah, the Bronze.
You went there whenever you needed to clear your head. Sunnydale was the calmest town in the world to live in, especially when you were a teenager in the throes of puberty and adrenaline, looking for nothing more than peace and quiet.
You went to the Bronze when you needed to breathe, which was almost always, even in a small and peaceful town like Sunnydale.
Aside from the problems with your parents, your house that seemed too small for someone as big as you, and your terrible grades in school, everything was going pretty well. You intimidated people enough, even in the small and cramped bar, to keep them far enough away from you, and you just looked for a table away from the crowd of colors and couples and smells and sensations to light a cigarette and put your feet up.
"A Mai Tai, Ricky, please," you would say, almost always, swearing that it would be your first and only glass until Ricky came with two, three more.
And then you lit a cigarette before heading home. And you avoided looking at the dance floor, or standing in line for the bathroom because you knew there were women and men looking right at you.
And you hated to reciprocate. You hated to think about the possibility of winning someone's heart in one night, and vice versa.
It was like that every night.
Except that one.
***
That story about vampires, dangerous creatures, vampire Slayers, it was all a lie. It couldn't be true. Adults believed it because it suited them, because they were legends spread from generation to generation.
But you were already a teenager. You were too old to even believe in Santa Claus, why believe in bloodsucking monsters that went after people? And in a girl who could, in fact, kill them all and save the day for at least… a hundred years?
It didn't make any sense. Those things didn't exist. At least, they shouldn't have.
And if they did, well, they didn't interfere with your quiet nighttime routine. Going to Bronze. Drinking a Mai Tai. Smoking like a troubled girl. It was the best thing in the world. No vampire could stop that.
But she could. And you just didn't know it when you noticed her doing her best on the dance floor, wrapping her arms around one of the girls sitting down and moving her hands awkwardly, all while drinking something you couldn't make out.
When you wrapped your arm around the chair and put the straw in your mouth to suck the last drop of Mai Tai, she looked at you. And her eyes kind of took you over completely, as if it were an electronic song with a strong beat that made your ears throb. Too bad it was only for two seconds. Because you looked away.
Your agreements with yourself were always the same. Don't get carried away, don't get attached, don't kill yourself. Just rebel, and live in the moment.
And you would do that, if it weren't for those curious eyes, from across the dance floor. Small, brown, with no sign of eyeliner. She wasn't a rebel, but that kind of troubled girl…
That style also took you over completely. You had to admit that the moment you noticed that little black blouse showing parts of her waist against the light and that shiny belt, she won your heart completely. Or almost completely.
Because you couldn't let yourself get carried away. First deal.
It was kind of impossible, because she was practically crawling towards you. As if your gaze had taken her in completely, too. She came in stealthy steps, while you tried to decide if she looked like a snake, a wolf or a fox in search of prey.
But since it was her nature to do that, the girl simply walked right past the table where you were and started chatting with a couple at the other table, next to yours, all the while with the glass swinging in her hand. A Mai Tai. Exactly like yours.
It wasn't on purpose. It was just a coincidence because you had just arrived. And you hadn't seen each other yet. She also didn't seem to be stalking you or anything like that, because, in truth, when your eyes met for the first time, the look she gave you was pure curiosity, and, unless she knew how to hide it well, you had never run into each other, not even in a small and peaceful town like Sunnydale.
You would know if she was stalking you. And maybe she was stalking you now, pretending to be sly, but not before.
Her gaze drifted to you when the two teenagers at the next table frowned at her exaggerated gestures, and you noticed that those eyes were browner than usual. And that you clearly weren't prepared for them.
"Drinking twin," she said innocently, looking down at her half-empty glass. There was a huskiness in her voice that you weren't prepared for either. Not that you expected a high-pitched, bad-girl-dressed preppy girl, but… whatever. Enough thinking about what you expected.
"Is that how you usually start a conversation with someone?" you asked, obviously making fun. And according to her personality, which you had built up in your head, she wouldn't be offended. And she wasn't.
She just laughed, muffled. And her white teeth took your breath away when they showed. Because she had a damn beautiful smile.
"You got me there," she whispered, raising her glass, but she didn't seem surprised, and she was still laughing. "I don't know how to start a conversation with someone, it's true. But in my defense, I also didn't know there was a formula, an instruction manual for starting a conversation with someone…"
"There isn't," you replied shortly. "And I'm not complaining. I was just surprised that you…"
You shrugged. Wow, what the hell happened to your train of thought just now?
"Okay, I get it. It's okay. I really think that was a stupid conversation starter, if you ask me…", she said, catching you off guard again. With her fingers running along the edge of the chair next to you, she looked at you curiously, pulling the chair back. "Can I?"
One of those classic cases where you couldn't say no. It would be too rude. And you were tough, but not to that extent. A little company wouldn't hurt. For one night.
Don't get attached. Rule number two. Shit.
Nodding, you lowered your head and sucked the rest of your Mai Tai, while she obviously didn't wait for a full answer and sat down next to you, positioning the glass so that it was practically glued to yours, or at least in the same field of vision.
"So, are you going to at least let me ask your name or are you going to say that my attempt at conversation is equally stupid too?", she asked, straight and direct, exactly as you imagined. And as you didn't expect.
"It's (Y\N). Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so rude if it did," you said, your voice low. She laughed in response, and shook her head. "And yours? Can I at least ask?"
"Lehane. Faith Lehane," she said, all enigmatic, and obviously, you knew it was supposed to make you really curious. And she was lucky that it really did. "You can ask anything, you just won't be guaranteed an answer."
You laughed. Damn, she really knew how to charm a girl. Or a person, anyway. You couldn't tell.
"I just came to Sunnydale, actually. Not that it interests you, but… I was looking for a less chaotic city. Until I found out that this place has vampires too. So, I guess I can start packing my bags and be a nomad again."
"Are you running away from vampires?" you asked, uselessly curious about the idea of a girl who knew the legends. An outsider who knew the legends. And you thought they only existed in Sunnydale.
"Running away isn't the right word, I'm afraid. They should run away from me, according to my… well, they should run away from me, instead. But I just don't agree with anything that happens here. In my life, specifically. Nothing seems to…"
"… make sense?"
"Are you…?", she stopped, staring at you and making you a little more nervous and tense than before. And then, she shook her head. "No, you're not. She said there's only one in each corner. And if I'm here, you couldn't be here. Not active."
Drunk talk. Daydreams. That was all that was needed, really.
"What are you talking about?", you asked, confused.
"Doesn't matter," Faith shook her head, laughing. "Are you single?"
Wait, what? That's definitely a quick escalation.
"What?"
"Oh, you don't like other girls? I see."
"No, no, I just… got confused, what…?"
"Calm down, I just asked if you're single. It's no big deal. And it's also okay if you don't date other girls, it's just, like, I thought you were a little… too pretty and I just wanted to know if you could… like…"
You laughed. Of course. They all had the same excuse. There was no way out of this. It started like that, and then you'd pin them against the wall, and then you'd kiss them, and then you'd try to take their shirts off until you remembered that the rule was not to get attached. And then you'd just kick them out. Because there was no point in trying to be nice when you didn't need to anymore.
"… if I could make out with you?", you finished, again, still laughing. "Yeah, it's a good proposal, actually, but I really don't know if it's very safe. You seem too drunk for my bones and I don't want to cause any problems."
Faith seemed, at that moment, to be offended. She shook her head, frowning and downing the entire drink in one go, her eyes scrutinizing you like a predator.
"I wouldn't complain if you caused me trouble, babe, I mean it," she said, simply throwing the words out of her mouth. "I have an iron fist. And, truthfully, I don't get drunk that quickly. I'm just too happy, but it's not because of the drink."
It's because of you. Okay, that was really obvious. You should have guessed.
And you should have known you were breaking the rule if you accepted it.
She stretched in the chair next to yours, a movement even more deliberate because her black blouse had risen enough to leave you in contact with half of her exposed belly. And that shouldn't have turned you on like it did. Never. Not for a second.
You took a deep breath. You imagined yourself as a vampire drinking blood from its victims, and realized that it would be a horrible thing to do, as much as it was to think.
"We don't have to make out. I can just kiss you in a random corner, surrounded by people, no one will notice," Faith said determinedly. "And I'll control my hands enough so they don't touch you…"
Oh my God. What were you getting yourself into?
You didn't think, you didn't even have time to. It felt like something else was taking over you, and maybe it would have been easier to blame the Mai Tai because when you pressed Faith against the wall and started kissing her breathlessly and in a hurry, you completely lost consciousness.
***
The day after wasn't usually the worst. But that morning after in particular was terrifying for you because, with all that hangover, you were sure you would die if you took one more step.
But the hangover certainly wasn't the biggest problem.
You don't remember the aftermath of attacking Faith's lips at the Bronze. You only remember that, in flashes, you took her home, and she led you to the gate, made you stop your father's car on the porch and tried to pull the car door open for you to get out too. But you bravely, and maybe a little self-consciously, pushed her back and said that you hated rushing things.
But you had never said that. And you had never even been in a hurry to kiss any other girl you had been with, because there had never been an accidental lifting of her shirt in the middle of the kiss, or a silly touch on the other girl's soft, tanned skin, or the discovery of a strange scar on her belly that she quickly dismissed by shoving her tongue down your throat.
And you needed to stop thinking about Faith before things got worse for you. Because you had never thought so much about another girl before. The first, maybe the first girl you had ever kissed, outside of the Bronze…
But you were thirteen. And your head was full of apple punch, which you had drunk behind your parents' back at a Halloween party with your childhood friends. And you had just kissed a girl at Spin the Bottle. And while you were throwing up and being grounded for three weeks, all you could think about was this girl.
Luckily, she moved out the following year. And you stopped thinking.
As you brushed your teeth, drank coffee, said a dull and boring good morning to your parents and lit a cigarette in the backseat while your father sang Johnny Cash on the way to school, you couldn't stop thinking about Faith. And then, in Philosophy class, you started studying about faith and counterparts. And it only got worse for you.
And then you knew you couldn't stay like this. And that you needed to see her again. Even if it was just to punch that beautiful little face, look into those brown eyes one last time or see her mouth bleeding and dripping on those perfect lips that you kissed last night.
***
Agreement number three: don't kill yourself.
But it was kind of hard to keep a promise like that in Sunnydale. When things started to heat up again in the town, and the legends started to become reality, you had to deal with the fear of facing your skepticism.
A part buried inside your brain thought that was incredibly cool. The vampires running around, the thirst for blood, the hidden threat that could invade the place you were in and make you the victim. But the more rational part started to cultivate fear, trauma, apprehension, the idea of the scary occult that you didn't know about.
Oh, come on, the last known Vampire Slayer had been killed. There was no one to protect your small, peaceful town now. Any self-respecting girl was terrified of leaving the house, because there was the horrible possibility of being the chosen one.
But there was no way. You even wanted to stay home, locked up, but your free spirit cried out to go out. And faced with a dark situation in which you couldn't stop thinking about a girl, the girl you had kissed to shut her up, you needed to get out.
Until you discovered that the smell of smoke possibly attracted strange, almost snake-like creatures, thirsty for blood and with huge teeth capable of piercing a person's neck.
Until you lit a cigarette and felt a chill down your spine instead of relief when you inhaled.
Until you were knocked to the ground by the deliberate voice and the grip of a hideous creature with huge teeth. A vampire. Good. This was your chance to change your destiny, which you didn't do, because, in truth, there was no chance of people being nice to you, not in this life, at least.
When he knocked you down and ran to grab you firmly behind the neck, you closed your eyes, expecting the worst. You wouldn't even feel the firmness of his fangs. Until he grunted, and fell. A shrill, hoarse scream echoed from afar, making you open your eyes:
"Pay attention, you son of a bitch!"
And then, Faith pulled you up, the rush imminent. You knew it was her because, in fact, the unmistakable smell had been in your mind for weeks. With a glance in her direction, you clearly saw the girl's gaze soften, and you smiled, relieved, a heavy sigh that was hard to escape.
"Are you okay? Did he bite you? Are you in pain?"
"Faith," you whispered. That was all you could say. You hugged her, laughing, and she hugged you back, after two seconds, tightening her arms around you, as if she was refusing to let go.
Then, as usual, she broke the hug, with a not-so-gentle pat on your chest. "You idiot! You shouldn't be out here, it's dangerous! They're sending vampires from beyond to come after us. Answer my questions, at least, okay, idiot?"
You laughed. "Don't worry, babe, I'm fine. He was going to bite me, but you came along and… wow, you put a good stake in his chest."
"Actually, it's my dagger," she smiled, kneeling down and pulling the dagger out of the vampire's chest, as he disappeared and turned to dust in front of you. "Well, here's my secret. A Vampire Slayer. But you can interpret it however you want. I can be a Vigilante, that's all."
You huffed, shaking your head. And then, the words just spilled out of your throat again.
"I haven't stopped thinking about you since that day at the Bronze. I'm not the same person anymore, Faith. I can't pretend anymore that I didn't get attached and that you didn't catch my attention from the beginning. I lied to myself for a long time about the other girls, but you…", you sighed, looking at her. "It was different. And all it took was for me to have a horrible near-death experience with an ugly creature like that to make sure of it."
"Oh, will you ever shut up, doll?", she teased, and pulled you by the waist for a desperate kiss, lowering the dagger until it fell to the floor again, and wrapping both arms around you, exactly as you imagined she would do. "I knew it… I knew it would make you change your mind. You look so much cuter without that bad girl pose."
"As if you knew anything about me, Faith."
"Oh, I know. Trust me. I've known you my whole life," she whispered, lost, before kissing you again. "I was just waiting for you to get to know me too. And then I could have you, all to myself, without all this arrogance."
"Shut up," you whispered.
And then she shut up. And you kissed all night. And maybe the next day, when she woke up in your bed and made you skip school for the first time. It was also the first day you accepted being bossed around by someone.
And somehow, that was what it was like to rule the world.

Jenny loves Halloween. Giles does not, but he cannot deny seeing Jenny all dressed up does make the holiday more appealing.
Unfortunately for them, Jenny's shopping spree took her to Ethan's Costume Shop...
I’ve written a one-shot in the spirit of Halloween, though let's all ignore this is getting uploaded the day after the holiday. This takes place during the Halloween episode in the second season. Jenny has been invited to a staff party and convinces Giles to join her. Naturally, chaos ensues when their colleagues begin to transform into various demons... and Jenny herself falls victim to Ethan’s magical mayhem.
“We might need to take you to the hospital. You could have broken something.”
“I think I’m just winded,” Jenny shrugged it off, holding her side and walking unsteadily. Though he supposed the alcohol consumption didn’t help on that front. “Bit of bruising, no biggie.”
“Jenny, you went with a right thump.”
“Yeah, about that. Zombies? Fish people? Weird collection of creatures, don’t you think?” Jenny smoothly changed the subject, taking them away from her own predicament and focusing on what had brought her down.
“This is why I spend my time reading and not partying,” Giles began, knowing full well that if he checked, Jenny would be sporting a look of amusement at that line.

Cherish the Moment
Summary: Ever since Angel Shanshued, Buffy's been doing all that she's able to help Angel try all of the different foods that she can (often times cooking with him in trying to discover new things). She, after all, thinks he has a lot of time to make up for, in having missed so much culinary cuisine. But in always being so focused on the next thing, is Buffy maybe forgetting to cherish her precious moments with Angel?
Cherish the Moment
"Okay… I'm calling it, Buffy," a recently-turned-human-Angel laughed, sitting on a bar stool as Buffy worked feverishly in their kitchen. "This is the silliest thing we've ever done. You don't have to keep trying to figure out what's the best way to keep cereal from going soggy,” he added upon standing up to head Buffy’s way. “If my cereal does go a little soggy… well, that's part of the human experience, right?"
Buffy looked up from her work—work where she'd been doing an experiment she’d wanted to do for Angel, to see if putting your cereal in first or second when compared to the milk would save it from soggy-ness (or if putting them both in at the same time would be the magical answer)—and gave Angel a look. How was it that she’d put so much time and energy into this, and he hadn’t noticed a single difference in the cereal bowls at all?!
She partly wanted to blame his new taste buds on this fact, and say they just hadn’t developed enough yet for this test. But deep down, she knew he was right and that there was nothing to be gleaned here. So, all and all, this experiment had been a bust—and probably “the silliest thing they’d ever done,” which was sadly saying something—and she found herself oddly peeved about it. Buffy found herself continuing to glower at Angel. But she did soften some, when he put a hand to her cheek and she found herself melting into his touch.
"I just want your experience as a human to be good, y’know, Angel? Arguably, you're starting late. Or starting again late. And I don't want your taste buds to have to be wasting their time on soggy cereal when they could be having quality cereal… or tiramisu?"
"Tiramisu is good," Angel allowed, seeming lost in thought for a minute.
And Buffy wondered if he, too, was remembering how he’d worried that the cherry tiramisu he’d tried at Ferrara’s would taste too medicinal—after he’d had to have cough syrup flavored with that same fruit for the first time and he wouldn’t like it—until Buffy very cleverly smeared some on her lips and got him to try it that way. Safe to say, Angel had become a big fan after that.
"And I've loved some of these food experiments we've done together, baby—like when we found out if you use corn syrup, it'll really save you when you're trying to make caramel.
"But Buffy, I'm human again. And we have so much to discover together… if you want to do that with me. So, what I’m getting at is… I don't want you to exhaust yourself with this food stuff, so that we miss everything else."
Angel was breathing pretty heavily after his speech, Buffy noted. She knew that it shouldn’t have surprised her, either. After all, Angel actually needed to breathe now and that might have been the most words she'd ever heard him string together like that before. Huh. He really was turning over a new leaf, wasn't he? Buffy giggled, as she leaned against her boyfriend and then rewarded him with a big smile.
Though there was some small part of her that wanted to chew him out, because she had come up with all of these cooking adventure ideas for him (and yes, Angel had acknowledged that and seemed thankful for it, but still). And Buffy knew how much of a foodie her Angel was, so what the hell?!
But when she noticed the concern in his warm chocolate eyes—concern for her, it seemed—she found that she was appeased.
"I guess maybe I should leave things on the high note, of having figured out that oranges are one of the secrets to KFC’s famous chicken recipe, along with the twelve herbs and spices." Buffy quipped, as she guided Angel to sit back on the stool he’d early vacated and then draped herself in his lap. She made sure to tuck her head beneath his chin, as it was her favorite spot in the world, after all.
And it was it her, or had Angel’s face heated up as she did so? Hmm… very interesting, and hopefully telling for what their next few hours could be like. "You understand that I'm not saying we should never try cooking together again, right, Buffy? Because I'm up for anything with you. And we have made some amazing discoveries. I'm just saying that, well, we could use some more down time."
Buffy tossed her head back and laughed—nearly falling out of the stool as she did so—it was only Angel's arms secure around her waist and her own Slayer reflexes reacting in the nick-of-time that kept the moment from being ruined. “Down time or up time?” Buffy asked saucily.
The look he gave her definitely let Buffy know, and now it was her turn to catch her breath. And for her heart to beat for him like she was sixteen again. They’d surely be going upstairs soon, but first she needed him to know she had heard him.
The Slayer halted whatever her former-vampire was about to say with a finger to his lips: "But to your point: I do understand, Angel. You're human now! And that has so much to offer you—us. Walks in the sunset… talks of children… chances for you to earn gray hairs now. There's so much to do, and moments to cherish: and we should be cherishing them together and not trying to rush anything. We've rushed too much in our lives, so let's never do that again."
And when Angel made slow, sweet love to her later in the day, Buffy came to the conclusion that they both understood each other perfectly clear.
Author's Note: Inspired by me watching too many cooking shows on YouTube (also in general, like with Food Network and stuff). But this fic in particular is inspired by some episodes of Mythical Kitchen and an episode of Food Theory on YouTube.
I’ve actually been writing a lot of Bangel fanfics behind the scenes lately (that are multi-chapters, most of them, and taking FOREVER to write for that reason. That’s why you haven’t seen them posted them yet. Also this one Bangel/Kingdom Hearts crossover oneshot that’s super long—and is the first Bangel fic I ever started—but more on that later, maybe), but I wanted a short little thing I could write as a break from those, I guess, so this ended up being that. I hope you enjoy:)
I also, somehow, never thought I’d write a human!Angel fic, but it was actually pretty fun! I might try it again sometime.

Hey everybody, I figured I'd put this poll up to see if anyone has input of what non-Stanger Things story idea I should write next. I don't know if many people care, especially since these characters aren't exactly current, or very popular. But I like getting feedback from my readers, and it could just be a fun little thing to do. It'll be up for a week, so have at it!

AN/ So this is like a second part to my Congrats you're a Dad fic with Dean, but you don't have to read that to fully understand this one. This was supposed to be posted on Halloween, but life got in the way, so let's just pretend that it is okay! Also, if you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I have a Spike x reader with smut if you're interested!
I blink my eyes open to sunlight peeking through our curtains and shining on our feet. The air is cold and crisp due it being October, and I want just to ignore the world and cuddle myself deeper in the heap of blankets we have on our bed. But sadly, the world demands our attention, well, more like our daughter needs it. I knew Bella would be awake soon her being now seven and having all the energy in the world, man I never thought I would be jealous of my kid. And my boyfriend the father of our daughter Dean Winchester is just softly snoring away.
And I couldn't blame him he has been working a lot for us, both of us were to just afford a bigger place. I softly kiss his nose get out of my bed and grab my robe. I walk to the kitchen to get breakfast ready. I start the coffee and get the pancake mix out I’ve been making new spooky designs for Bella every day, its a pain in the ass to do it but worth it to see her face light up every morning plus it’s a lot easier to get her up for school. I start to make the food pour my coffee turn on a hype playlist on my phone to try to wake myself up.
“Hey, baby,” Dean said in his early gruff morning voice coming into the kitchen and wrapping his arms around me from the back.
“Good morning sleep well?” I responded loving the feeling his arms brought an extra warming to my body.
“Yeah, I did, what is that a witch?” He asked referring to the monstrous creation I have in the pan, no pun needed.
“No, I was going for candy corn.” I slumped my shoulders pout and I could feel his body chuckle at that.
“Aww sweetheart you know Bella loves anything you make for her.” He comforted me.
“But it’s supposed to be-” Before I could get in one of my little overthinking rants Dean started kissing my neck.
“Dean, what are you doing? You know Bella has to be up in fifteen minutes.” I sighed trying not to get swept up in his presence. Which is impossible.
“I am trying to remind you that no matter what you are an amazing mother to our little girl and that you deserve a little treat.” He breathes in my scent and reaches forward to turn off the stove. He starts to kiss my neck and finds my pulse and sucks down on it like he was a vampire.
“Mhh Dean.” I moaned.
“All for you.” Then his hand slips through my robe and to my shorts.
“I love these on you so easy to…” His fingers find their way to my panties and lightly tease my slit. The fingers getting slick on them almost embarrassingly.
“To go in.” I start to move with him and grind up on him a little like a dance. I can feel him getting hard. He moves his shaft against me.
“You…are…playing…with…fire…buddy.” I stated with bated breath.
“Always have.” He then slips in.
“Ah fuck Dean!” Fingers start to pump in gently.
“That’s it just let go.” I'm already close, it’s been a while since we could have a fun time.
“Mommy?” Shit! Fuck!
Dean quickly removes his fingers and goes to wash his hands while I try to compose myself.
“Good morning Princess, did you sleep well?” I asked as I placed her pancakes on the table kissed her head and tried to forget the last ten minutes.
“Uh-huh! Good morning Mr.Dean!” She exclaimed excitedly eating her pancakes with glee.
“Good morning Pumkin!” He adored her back with her nickname. We still have not told her that he was her Dad we really want her to get comfortable and she is.
“Mommy we still have to get my costume.” Our little seven-year-old demanded.
I laugh, and so does Dean, and we sit down, too. “Well, how about this: How does Mr.Dean take you to get one, huh?” Her little eyes light up like Christmas lights.
“Really! Yay! Thank you, Mr.Dean.” She runs to hug him and then to get ready.
He turns to me with a little panic running through him. “I’m going take her? Not that I don’t want to it’s just it will be like a real bonding thing do you think she’s ready or me?” My heart leaps with joy at his shyness and happiness.
“You are ready, plus if you’re going to stay around there is going to be a lot of bonding experiences.” Before I know it he pulls me to his lap.
“Hey I am here to stay and I’m going to rock the socks off of this bonding experience.” He gave me his signature smile and I leaned in to kiss him. We start to drift into what we were doing before and I pull away.
“Mhh baby you're giving me blue balls here.” He gripped my hips.
“Sorry, but we both have work and you still have to drop off Bells at school, maybe later okay?” I get up to get ready. “I lo-” I stop myself. “I hope you have a good day.” I smile and ignore the almost confession I committed.
It’s Halloween and I’m rushing to get ready in my costume.
“Babe you almost ready Bella is pulling on my-” he stops dead in his tracks seeing me.
“Wow just wow.” Scanning me up and down in my Poison Ivy costume he was Batman and Bella was Robin.
“You just trying to torture me aren’t you?” He asked in a low sexy voice getting his hands on me.
“Maybe?” I innocently asked knowing what I was doing.
“Oh, are you really trying to play coy right now?” He gripped harder on my hips.
“Why don’t you find out Mr. Wayne?” I whispered and nipped his earlobe.
“I am going to have you all tied up with your own-” He gets interrupted by our adorable daughter.
“Batman! There are criminals out stealing candy we must stop them!” She pronounced it like a real superhero.
“We are coming, Robin!” He called out. He turns back to me.“We just got blocked again by our own kid what is this world coming to?” He practically whined.
“Sorry, Mr.Wayne.” I kiss his cheek grab my cape and leave with blue balls… again.
We walk hand and hand while watching Bella run down the sidewalk shouting “Criminals beware!” Yes, it is the cutest thing ever. Between the orange twinkle lights and fake monsters on the lawns, little kids running around having fun, and the man I am starting to love it felt like a dream. A dream I never thought I would get.
“Hey, Ivy what's passing through that pretty head of yours?” My Batman asked. I hug his arm tightly.
“Just I think this is the best Halloween Bella and I have ever had.” I kissed his shoulder.
He squeezes my hand in agreement. “Me too, but there was this one year where I got to fight this animatronic that is a horror movie icon!-” He sees my face of confusion and just stops. “Yeah, me too.”
We get home after an hour of Bella yelling about criminals and yes people did look at us a little weirdly. We walk up and Sam and Eileen are waiting on our porch. “Hey guys, sorry but we weren't expecting you.” I hug them both.
“Actually I was,” Dean responded to my surprise.
“You were?”
“I was thinking while Bella has a super fun sleepover with her Uncle and Aunt we can have our own “super fun sleepover”.” I got what he was putting down and I loved the idea. I bend down to Bella.
“Sweetie would you want to-”
“Yes, Mommy! Love you goodnight!” She hugs me quickly and runs to her uncle. I signed thank you to Eileen and she signed back you're welcome and have fun.
“Dean you planned this?” I put my arms around his neck.
“Well what I said earlier is true you do deserve a treat.”
“Well, Mr.Wayne show me to your bedroom.” He picks me up bridal style and takes me to our bedroom.
SMUT 18+ Below cut....
He brings me in and places me on the bed. The room is dark, and a candle is burning, giving off the scent of chocolate and sweet berries in the air.
“Oh, you don’t know how long I've been waiting baby.” He starts to kiss down my neck. Paying special attention to my sweet spot.
“Why don’t you show me?” I raised my eyebrow being bratty. I knew what I was doing and I was good at it. That’s how we met in the first place I may have “accidentally” bent down in front of him at the diner.
“Oh, I will.” He gropes all down on me like he’s never touched a woman before. His fingers linger and drag down my most sensitive areas. Knowing what he was doing.
“Babe? Babe!” I giggled. “We have time now slow down I want to enjoy my Batman.” I spread my hands down his chest. Felling his toned muscles through his costume hell he probably could be Batman. They tensed under my fingers.
“I know it’s just that I miss my Ivy in bed waiting for me.” He nibbles on my neck. Sucking hickies in the deep nape of my neck.
“Me too but we have all night and tomorrow morning so I’m thinking maybe five rounds?” I pronounce confidently. Letting him really get into it. He was now licking those sore spots.
His eyes light up. “You really think we can do five?”
I pull him down by his cape. “You're right let’s do ten,” I smirk. Like I said it has been a while.
“Oh, I like what you're thinking!”
I slowly pull off my costume to reveal my green matching sexy lingerie. I run my hands over my body to tease him.
“Oh my, I think I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
“That you are Mr.Winchester.” He climbs on top of me and we start to make out. His tongue slips to meet mine and we start a beautiful rhythm. Like we had a hundred times before.
“Mhh Dean.” His hand goes to my pussy. Fingers go straight in. Really, sloshing in.
“So wet already huh?” The fingers pump in but then move more quickly. My body reacted and involuntarily jumped up. His hand steadied me on my hip. It was so sexy that my body shook from excitement.
“Yes yes!” He makes rings around my walls. He makes patterns in me. Rubbing up and down before I know it I’m cuming.
“Shit, I guess it has been a while.” I chuckle. “You're turn Bats.”
I push him to the bed and get on top of him.
“You want slow or fast?”
“Slow.”
I pull his pants down and bend to pull his underwear down with my teeth and his shaft springs forward. I start with tiny kitten licks and go up and down mainly focusing on the head. My tongue circled the top like a lollipop. The flavor being sweet and salty.
“Mhh that’s it Baby you're doing great.” He sighs in deep pleasure.
At that compliant my pussy gets wet again I guess I have a praise kink.
I then suck deeply. And bop my head up and down making sure to get all of it. I then add my hand to it. And I pump the parts I can.
“Ah fuck!” I can tell he’s getting close. I don’t pull off and he comes in my mouth.
“I will never get tired of that.” He smiles happily.
“Thank you, now should we get to the main event of the evening?” I raise my eyebrows up and down.
“Yes, we should.” He goes to pull off the rest of the costume but I stop him. “Wait I've always wanted to do it with Batman.”
“Oh you dirty girl, okay your wish is my command.” He pulls me to him and slides up his shaft to meet my slit.
“Okay, are you ready?” I nod yes.
He slips in very easily.
“Oh that is…”
“Amazing” I finish.
He starts to move at a careful but intentional pace his strokes in me making music with my body. His shaft was hard as a rock making it juts up like it was a ship hitting the shore but in the best way possible. He held me up in a way I would feel every thrust.
“Ohh Dean…” I groaned out. He is fucking sex on legs littery and physically.
“Y/n… fuck…so…good!” He could feel my walls clench around his dick hard he kept pounding and sweat started to pour from both of us making the slick a lot more slideable.
I grab the sheets in a tight grip to remind myself I wasn’t in heaven even though I felt was pretty close. One of his hands goes up to my nipple to rub it in small circles. His thumb moves over the texture of it and my whole body is in full on stimulation. I moved up my hand to his bicep and his skin was hot. We were both meeting each other in the middle of the thrusts. We were both getting close.
“Dean..” I was breathless.
“Yeah I gotcha Baby okay ready.” I nod yes.
He slows down his thrusts to make sure we can fully chase and enjoy the high. His hand that was on my chest goes to my clit. He makes tiny pets at it.
“Three…Two…One!” Both our bodies exploded together.
He pulls out and flops down next to me in exhaustion.
“Baby we needed that.” he pulled me in under his arm.
“Definitely, so ready for the next round.” I reached up and brought his face to meet mine.
“Ohh give me like thirty minutes to recuperate I’m not twenty anymore.” I smile at that and give him a sweet kiss truly appreciating that he is here and getting older. Because with his old job, he could of very easily of ended at twenty.
“Dean thank you for my treat best one I’ve ever gotten.” I cuddle in deeper and think “I am so in love with Dean Winchester.”
Thank you for reading! And remember to vote! Also, if you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I have a Spike x reader with smut if you're interested!

september fic recs!
i know i am later than usual on my monthly fic recs. a lot has been going on irl, but i have been reading where i can, and i certainly have some fics to recommend to you all!
so let's get started.
of street names and subway wall prophecies by @dalgursbate i'm *obsessed* with this fic. it's Shadowheart x Astarion set in NYC in the early 2000s, with a heavy dose of Buffy the Vampire Slayer lore mixed with Forgotten Realms lore. it sounds wild, i know, but guys, hear me out, this is one fo the BEST fics i've read in a long time. it's sexy, funny, angsty - and the way the two very different universes are woven together is really cool and fun. READ THIS.
Shadowheart Begins by @eldritchelfwriter sticking with the Shadowheart theme for a moment, i gotta recommend this one that i've been reading. Shadowheart x female storm sorcerer Tav! it follows the story of the game and gives a really close insight into Shadowheart's character and motivations. plus a sweet love story. i love my goth princess.
Lockpicking by @fangswbenefits now, on to Astarion x Reader smut! this is a simple but oh so effective little oneshot involving you, Astarion, and some lockpicks. it's a fast read that made me blush. highly recommend.
What Am I Supposed to Do (But Sink My Teeth Into You)? by @khywren khywren continues to be one of my absolute favorite Astarion smut authors. all of their fics are sexy af, but they also all have such a level of sweetness and emotion that get me in the feels. this one involves their OC, Ysera, who accidentally casts an aphrodesiac spell on ehrself int he middle of battle. so a bit of sex pollen mixed in there, too! and, somehow, still touching! i love it.
Dangerous by @naevethewizard this little 2 chapter fic is just a delight. Astarion x f!durge, and one of the most funt akes i've read on a durge in a while. a durge who has no idea sex can actually be a pleasurable thing. Naeve's personality is so funa nd astarions' reactiosn to her here are perfect. i'm excited for when i fainlly have time to read the long fic it's attached to!
***
and that's it for the month! happy reading!

more dip and pip fic ideas
Buffy. i really want to write this one. either one of them is doing slayer business in place of buffy or they are a part of the scooby gang and in both ideas the other is a vampire
boarding school au, i just like the idea of this. and ive seen a few on Ao3 but none of them are very long. also maybe just high school au in general (this feels oddly reminiscent of the frerard fics i used to write which we do NOT TALK ABOUT)
wrong number textfic because they are always really fun to write and i started one for a different fandom a bit ago that i could repurpose
cute fic where they meet on holiday and spend a few weeks together near the beach but it's bittersweet because it will all end soon. maybe a follow up fic or oneshot of them meeting years in the future and getting back together.

My first ever oneshot! (I promise I have been working on SotS too)
Vegebul Vampire AU in the 1990’s: Bulma is the Slayer, the chosen one to kill vampires and demons. Vegeta is a powerful seasoned vampire who has unwillingly become a science experiment that renders him unable to hurt innocent people and hunt properly. But what happens when he realizes this experiment doesn’t work on Bulma and that he can most definitely hurt her. Heavily inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Hey! I haven’t been on tumblr for probably over a decade at this point, so this is my first post introducing myself to get back into it!
My name is Bea! I’m Canadian, 25f, Pagan, bi and used to be a full time artist (polymer clay, jewelry, painting, drawing, etc). I’ve always liked writing self insert fanfics for my own enjoyment when I can’t find a fic to scratch a particular itch, and always thought it would be fun to run an ask blog where I can take requests or post my own hcs, drabbles/oneshots, and even some art for my favourite characters!
My current 24/7 obsession is JJBA, especially Golden Wind, and specifically, Leone Abbacchio. My favourite parts are 3 and 5 and I’m currently on part 6 of the anime! Other anime’s I love are Fruits Basket, Dragon Ball, Darker than Black, Inuyasha and much more that I cannot think of atm.
I also love Buffy, The Boys, and have been enjoying Invincible and most recently The Bear! I love video games and I’m a huge Nintendo nerd - Twilight Princess is my favourite game of all time and I love LoZ and animal crossing! Also love stuff like Stardew Valley and casual horror games. Baldurs Gate 3 and DND stuff are super awesome too. As far as music goes, I’d say I’m an alt/punk rock gal but here are my favourite bands: MCR, Nirvana, Sublime, Gorillaz, One-Eyed Doll, Evanescence. I do also indulge in late 90’s/2000’s pop!
Here’s some characters I would LOVE to write for if anyone would like to give me a chance!
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure:
Part 2: Joseph Joestar, Caesar
Part 3: Jotaro Kujo, old Joseph Joestar, Kakyoin, Polnareff, Avdol
Part 5: Bucciarati, ABBACCHIO, Mista, Fugo, Narancia, Giorno and Trish (this is the part/fandom I’d love to write for most ATM)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
Buffy, SPIKE, Angel, Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Giles, Oz, Tara, Anya, Dawn
The Boys:
BUTCHER, Frenchie, Kimiko, MM, Hughie, would love to do some HCs for the 7 too!
Fruits Basket:
Literally everyone, but Kyo, Hatsuharu, Hatori and Ayame are favs
Stardew Valley:
I would honestly write HCs for anyone but I would love to do stuff for SEBASTIAN, Sam, Abigail, Leah, Elliott, Maru, Shane, Penny, Harvey….basically any romancable character!
I’ll update when I can think of more characters as well!
Since this blog is a clean slate, I’ll most likely follow anyone back but I do ask that we keep mutuals to 18+ please! I’m honestly pretty lonely when it comes to talking to people about fandom stuff so I would love to make some friends on here and my messages and asks will always be open :)

rules: make a 24 hour poll with the names of your wips, let it run, then write one sentence for every vote the winner received!
Tagged by @feeisamarshmallow. <3
Asterisks are working titles. W is Weevil, not Wallace, which is not to say I don't love Wallace.
Trying to keep it to chaptered fics that I have at least a chapter's worth of material for already or it would be 30+ options long.
rules: make a 24 hour poll with the names of your wips, let it run, then write one sentence for every vote the winner received!
**'Universes Veronica didn't grow up in':
1-800-WHERE-R-YOU - Meg Cabot series where the protagonist is struck by lightning and develops the ability to find missing children
BtVS - Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Veronica is not the Slayer in this universe.
(other likelies include Animorphs, Circle of Magic, Percy Jackson, Jumanji (the recent one), and probably Twilight even though I hate it.)
***oneshot version here
Tagging anyone who wants to do it but throwing it out specifically (no pressure) to @copperarsenite, @allonsymiddleearth, and @iceberg-hootenanny.

//ooc; I wanted to draw Anyanka, Patron Saint of Scorned Women, Head Vengeance Demon, AKA Queen Hellbeast from Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer #5 (Boom Studios). I wanted to give her a more demonic design, paying tribute to her TV series makeup with some light Hellboy inspo.
I made the canvas too small (RIP image resolution) but I'm really happy with how this turned out and really recommend checking out all 11 issues of BLVS (spread across 2 volumes and 1 special oneshot) if you've never read them before. Lots of vindication for the ladies of Buffy who deserved much better (especially Tara and Anya).

Superboys - A Bangel fic
Summary: When male Slayers start appearing after Buffy destroys the Seed of Wonder, Buffy and Angel decided to look into it some--with Angel thinking that it can only end badly, since the first vampire was male and since these Slayers aren't fully powered--but little do the two know that in doing so, it'll also serve to highlight their own problems.
This is about the Buffy comics (but an AU version of them, as I make a scene that happened with Buffy and Dowling happen with Buffy and Angel instead). And I don't think you have to have read them to understand or enjoy this fic.
Superboys
"Now, Slaying is no easy gig… you're going to have to take it very seriously," Buffy noted Angel tell the first (somewhat) boy Slayer, Billy, and his boyfriend, Devon, who were oh so desperate to do good and make a difference, that it was kind of heartwarming.
And Angel was definitely right about what he was saying—and Buffy respected him giving the pair the warning—but at the same time, she didn't want him to discourage them away from the path, either.
So right away, she cut in with, "But you should be fine. You two aren't too different from us."
And Billy and Devon really seemed to eat that up. So much so, that Buffy could tell from the look in Billy's eyes that he was longing to jump down from the building like she and Angel could… but he actually didn't have physical Slayer powers like her, and Devon was really just human, so she and Angel settled on walking down the stairs with the two of them and wishing them a goodnight.
It was only after they did so, that Angel admitted to her that he was troubled. "I don't know, Buffy… Even with magic changing, Billy doesn't have the full power of a Slayer. Do you think there might be a reason for that?"
Buffy wanted to argue that he was being sexist, or paranoid, or something. But then realizing how somewhat backwards that seemed (because for so long, she and her girls had relished that they had the monopoly on Slaying), went for other logic that she instantly hated herself for. "And if you hadn't been tricked by a damn dog of all things, there wouldn't be new magic, would there?"
At once, Angel's face looked more tragic than Buffy had ever seen it before, and she instantly hated herself for what she’d just said.
Why had she said that? Angel… he hadn't been in his right mind as Twilight, and she'd fixed what had been done. She may still have slightly been mad at him for everything, but he'd been in London making amends for his actions, and the past was the past…
"Angel… I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that," Buffy said kindly, reaching out to put a hand on the vampire's arm for just a moment. "What were you saying about why you think male Slayers could end badly?"
"Because the first vampire that existed was a man, Buffy,” Angel looked at her with some deep meaning in his eyes. Had she heard this story before? She and Angel had kept in touch when he was in L.A. some… had this ancient of ancient vamps come back when he was fighting the good fight, and tried to possess him or Cordy? Or was she making that up, and really getting her wires crossed?
“And I imagine that's part of the reason,” Angel continued on, heedless of where Buffy’s thoughts had taken her, “besides humanity being creeps and thinking of women as lesser since the beginning of time, and thinking nothing of sacrificing them to become the Slayer—I imagine that’s why the Slayer was chosen to be a woman: because vampires and Slayers are kindred in blood. Equals. But we're also opposites. And I think messing with that now could be dangerous."
He did have a point, Buffy allowed, stepping away from Angel for a moment as she stopped walking aimlessly on the street here, but rather began heading back in the direction of Dawn and Xander’s apartment.
And admittedly, the fact that male Slayers now had Slayer dreams, but not the other Slayer abilities, was a tad bit suspicious. It was like Sineya wasn't going all in with them for a reason.
"…There was something that that freaky girl Melaka Fray mentioned.
“She was a Slayer… from the future,” Buffy explained, seeing Angel’s confused look. “Which is as wiggy as it sounds, believe me. I still can’t believe I ended up there, and everything that happened,” Buffy shuddered, still shocked by having run into a Dark Willow in the future who was against her, and having been tied up by said Slayer and her sister who had wanted to kill her. “As she reluctantly monologued about some of the reason she was doing what she was… I gathered she had a twin brother with some of her Slayer abilities. It didn’t seem like a happy story.”
As she said the last, Buffy shrugged—because a part of her didn’t want to feel anything for a sister Slayer who had seemingly betrayed her—but she also knew that it had to be hard. And the truth was, she wasn’t indifferent. So pretending to shrug it off, it was.
And Angel, god damn him, still knew her too well and was far too clever. At once, he was pulling her to him for a one-armed hug as he asked her, “Are you alright, Buffy? You said the word ‘monologue,’ so I assume she tried to kill you … but that’s not really what’s bothering you. Was she like Faith?”
Well, there was the million-dollar question, wasn’t it? Now that Angel brought it up, Buffy supposed Fray kind of was like that formerly estranged sister Slayer of hers. But to be honest, Buffy didn’t really know Fray enough to say much about it—or to be crying a river about her—especially since they were supposed to be worrying about male Slayers here. But she supposed she wouldn’t have been herself if Fray’s seeming fall didn’t get to her.
“Yeah, I suppose she is, Angel,” Buffy admitted, pulling away from the vampire, because there were certain emotions she couldn’t be feeling here, either. “But she’s from the future, so there’s not much we can do about it. And she’s so not the topic right now.”
‘Is that really relevant?’ Buffy could practically hear Angel about to ask, as he looked at her with a raised eyebrow. But before he could, she shut him up by saying, “Anyway, this guy Slayer thing is just starting… and if it is, I imagine Sineya has a reason for it. And even if you think it’s bound to end in tears, we don’t know that. Come to me if you learn more, and I’ll do the same. See ya!”
And before Angel could protest, Buffy took a page out of his book and disappeared on him: she had to admit that it felt kind of nice to pull the wool over Mr. Stealthy’s eyes for once. But the hole in her heart that she felt as she did so? Not exactly great.
…
It would be a while before the topic of boy Slayers would really come up again.
First, Buffy would end up dating Spike… and breaking the news to Angel, during a time when she needed his help on a mission, would not be the best. It wouldn’t be as awkward as it could’ve been, Buffy would realize later, since they’d kept some kind of rapport after talking about Billy (and, surprisingly, their relationship would become only better after this, as they finally learned how to become friends at Buffy’s insistence), but still… Buffy knew she would never wish to repeat that encounter.
On the subject of Billy, he would fight by Buffy’s side in battles a few times… but she never noticed anything foreboding—and thankfully, he was getting stronger on his feet—so Buffy didn’t worry at all where Billy was concerned.
She did worry about a few of the other male Slayers, though. Like when the government got the grand idea to put everyone magical or supernatural into internment camps.
Buffy had hoped that maybe the guys would get to sit that one out (like Dawnie did), since their greatest claim to magic was getting Slayer dreams, but many of them wouldn’t have it and insisted that if the government was taking their sisters, then they were taking them, too.
And it was honorable, Buffy thought. But also stupid. And added to her stress as she tried to figure out what to do in her own prison.
Thankfully, people like Riley—and even somewhat Willow’s ex-Lake—came through… And then Buffy had to fight a corrupt government employee who was using this plan to steal everyone’s powers, and pretty much became a dragon as she did. But that whole awful chapter of everyone’s lives ended without much incident, and they tried to pretend it hadn’t happened.
But then there was Harth Fray, who had come from the future to kill them…
And yes, good old Billy foolishly decided to fight in that battle alongside Buffy, too.
And Buffy? She honestly didn't want to think much about the battle with Harth. It was the worst one she’d ever experienced, and that was of course saying something. And more than once, she had thought the best option would be to go to Hell (with or without Angel and Spike, who wanted to try and follow her if there was time) and have the countless monsters that Harth had summoned come with her… forever.
Buffy would have wanted to get as many Slayers as she could out of there first, however: the idea being for her to become the sole Slayer again through the scythe's magic, so they'd have no choice but to run away from this unwinnable fight. Though when Buffy had thought that, she’d had no idea if the magic would work on the male Slayers who had been risking life and limb there, and she’d despised everything.
But then that didn't even matter in the end, because for just a moment something worse had happened: Harth had taken the scythe from Buffy and stolen all of the Slayer’s powers.
Except… as Angel had somewhat suspected, the turned vampire couldn't handle being a Slayer—or rather, the Slayer memories—so long story short, as he was distracted, they killed that army general, and the war was won.
But that wasn't the end of her story. No, not at all.
For one thing, Buffy was in love with Angel again (maybe she'd never stopped) and was done denying it. And now that he was living in San Francisco with her (the first time they'd lived in the same city together in so long), she'd dared to hope that something would happen between the two of them. Angel seemed desperate for companionship, if she did say so herself.
But while he seemed pretty open to her and everyone for about a few weeks… the month after that, Buffy sensed a wall there and she didn't know why. And sadly, she truly wasn’t surprised to find him gone a week later.
And while Buffy's first thought was to curse him to high heaven, get really drunk, and wish she'd never even met the asshole… the fact that Angel hadn't even been man enough to say goodbye or even leave a note didn't sit right with her.
So she had Willow track him down via his claddagh ring—trying very hard not to think at all as she did so—and got on a plane to Magic Town in London as soon as Will told her that was where the vampire had gone.
She should have known. He was probably going back to his new group of friends: Giles' weird aunts, Nadira, and Koh: a demon who Buffy had once suspected of trying to become a Scooby.
Once Buffy was in London, she met up with Sophronia and Lavinia (a mistake she'd never make again—as first they asked her what she thought of them trying to do a spell to make it so Giles never became Watcher, but did magic like he first wanted. And when Buffy said, “hell no!” to that, they asked her if she’d like them to dye her hair in rainbow streaks), and got Angel's location from them after much haggling.
And when Buffy saw Angel with Nadira, a Slayer she had trained, it was hard for her heart not to break.
Usually, Buffy would have walked away then: thinking Angel must have found a new love after Illyria and that was why he'd been so quick to come back to Magic Town…
But thankfully, she had grown up over the years, and she didn’t always make snap judgements anymore. Because Buffy knew Angel. She did. And how long had it taken him to move on from her? So many years. The idea that he would have suddenly been dating someone so close after Illyria’s death didn’t make much sense.
And furthermore, if he'd wanted to be in Magic Town… why hadn't he come here from the get-go? Why had it seemed he had almost begged her for a spot in San Francisco?
So it was with these thoughts in mind, that Buffy approached Angel and Nadira in Nadira's little den… as they looked to be doing what looked like a seance? Or a spell.
"Ahh, Angel. The Sunnydale Slayer is here. And she, quite rightfully so, has stepped her foot into the glass slipper more than you yourself have, my dear," Nadira said, offering Buffy a small smile from across the table, though she at once brought the Sunnydale Slayer up short with her strange words.
"Excuse me?!" Buffy cried out, completely mystified. She thought she'd heard Faith mention that Nadira had somewhat gone the way of Drusilla or something like that. But the original Slayer hadn't thought much of it until now.
Angel, very slowly, turned around to face Buffy after she’d spoken and whispered her name. And while part of Buffy did appreciate that… there was another side that was so disappointed that Angel hadn't seemed to sense her.
But then again, maybe that was over now between them, Buffy mused sadly. Had she sensed Angel once since destroying the Seed of Wonder? She honestly didn't know.
Seeming to see her silence as a demand for an explanation, Angel cleared his throat and explained, "You'll have to excuse Nadira, Buffy. The Magic in this town requires that she talk like an oracle and keep certain secrets."
"Not always," Nadira winked with a large smile upon her face. And to Buffy, it was just as lovely now—even with the alterations that had come to it through magic (in Whistler’s insane bid for everyone to evolve)—as it ever had been. "Sometimes it's just more fun that way, and I myself can tell when people need to figure things out for themselves. It's good to see you, Buffy."
Those words doing wonders in lifting the blonde's spirits, she at once reached across the table and squeezed her former trainee's hand. "It’s good to see you, too."
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll leave you two to get reacquainted, while I go get some dinner before my next client." And before either Slayer or vampire could argue that, the magical guru was gone.
"What are you doing here?" Angel asked at once, not without kindness, as Buffy took the seat Nadira had vacated. And Buffy was glad he had spoken, because she was afraid that this was going to be one of those conversations where she had to pry words out of Angel with the jaws of life. "Don't you have work?"
Oh, yeah. Work. She and Faith had recently received jobs as police offers… and Buffy wouldn't lie: she'd enjoyed it for a while. She had. She'd been doing consulting work for a while through Dowling, so when the chance came to make it official and have a continuous paycheck, she'd about leaped at the chance… but then she'd noticed that evil had finally decided to take a vacation since she'd defeated Harth. And if she actually had the chance now, perhaps, to have a career, why not do something she really loved? She was trying to decide if she was going to go down the cheerleading or ice-skating route, but she knew it would be one of them.
But now was not the time for that discussion. "I decided to look at other options," Buffy said simply.
And moving the conversation along to where she really wanted it to be, Buffy wailed, "Angel, why in the world did you come out here?! Weren't you happy in San Francisco?"
The instant she asked it, there was something in his eyes that the Slayer didn't understand.
But, seeming to somewhat ignore her second question, Angel just answered with, "I was… worried about the boy Slayers. Things are changing now, for the better with monsters suddenly pulling their punches. But theirs is a magic we never fully understood. And with Harth Fray- I wanted Nadira's advice that they would be okay with the battle suddenly ending, seemingly, when they were just made for this battle."
So he was all about the mission again… it was so typical Angel, that Buffy found that she shouldn't have been surprised. It was noble even, right?
Except that Buffy found that she was beyond pissed. Angel was trying to whittle away peace in this climate?
And what the fuck?! She had kindly opened her home and life to him again, and he hadn't as much as given her a "thank you" or "go to hell" in the end!
"That's bullshit, Angel!" Buffy snapped before she could stop herself. "You ran away with your tail tucked between your legs, and I'd like to know why!"
Buffy thought she saw the vampire's eyebrow twitch. Maybe… Or perhaps she just imagined it. But all too soon, he was his Zen self that he hated with a burning passion and was shaking his head "no." "I didn't run away, Buffy. I told you what I'm doing here. So can you drop the twenty questions?"
Aha! She was getting under his skin! And his pleading with her to leave him alone was proof enough that she was right: so, no. She would not leave it be.
"And this had nothing to do with your bestie Faith starting to date Willow or me hanging out with Spike…"
"Puh-lease, Buffy," Angel rolled his eyes at her, before glaring. “Hanging out with Spike?' You were five seconds away from screwing him every time I was near. I have a good sense of smell, remember? You were going to get back with him…
“And you're right that Faith had Willow… and Giles and Xander, for all of their attempts at an olive branch, have their own lives. You know as well as I do that Giles was thinking of moving in with Olivia, and Xander has Dawn and their daughter Joyce. Hell, even Andrew had Clive! So I did you all a favor and gave you your space and left!" Angel finally admitted with a shout, standing up with his hands curled into fists and staring Buffy down.
So that was it, then, Buffy thought, breathing heavily herself now. He'd thought no one cared about him—or really wanted him there—and had done the old disappearing act, like Buffy had begun to suspect.
And there was a part of Buffy that was furious at him for it, because what: did he think people's lives revolved around him and he couldn't even be second best in some cases?
But she also, reluctantly, had to understand where he might have been coming from, in losing his lover Illyria and friend Fred. He'd undoubtedly felt like the world was falling down around him then and had needed comfort. And had they given him everything he needed? Especially in his having lost his friends before? Buffy wasn’t sure She knew they'd tried.
He also was right about her and Spike… at first. She hadn't been completely over their breakup. But then she'd gotten so over it, and was now head over heels in love with Angel. How was it possible he couldn’t see it?
"…You have it wrong about me and Spike," Buffy said at last, when it looked like Angel was getting ready to leave the space. He seemed about to protest her words, but she held a hand up to silence him. "Yeah, okay, maybe I felt that way for a time, but not anymore. And Spike himself is no doubt mooning over this girl named Devon right now...
"You're an idiot, you know that?" Buffy demanded of her former lover, pushing him back into the seat he'd been sitting in by just poking him in the chest. She was more than a little thrilled to see how shocked and flustered he looked by the action. "This is just like when you became human, except you decided you couldn't handle that and became superboy again. Now we all have a chance to feel human, and you're ruining it by continuing to play detective and looking into our superboys."
"Buffy, what? You-" Angel tried to ask her about their Day That Never Was with a look of awe in his eyes that she could plainly see, but there was also sadness and guilt there.
"Yeah, Angel. I remember," Buffy deadpanned, not yet wanting to talk about how she'd eventually remembered after destroying the Seed, when many people's fake memories had gone away (including Connor's adoptive parents’), and how confused she'd been—as she'd been conflicted about her feelings on Angel in general at the time, and more convinced than ever that their love was forever doomed. But later, they would most definitely talk about it, she promised herself.
"And you really need to stop putting so much on your shoulders, and let others help you and love you… Let me love you," Buffy finished her sentiment, almost in shock that she'd finally been able to get the words out.
She'd thought she'd either find a way to say what was in her heart, or she'd kill him again. But there had been so much bad luck between the two of them, it seemed that only good luck could possibly be left. And thus, love had won out.
Angel was grinning now, as he stood up again, but this time took Buffy into his arms the way she had so loved him to do when she was a teenager. And she definitely wasn't complaining now. "Like Billy and Devon?" Angel suggested.
And that seemed like a fantastic idea to Buffy: Buffy and Angel had gotten it wrong so many times, after all. Why not try and be like the couple they had once tried to give advice to? "Sure. Let’s try to be like Billy and Devon. They have it right. Sounds good."
"And what are Billy and Devon doing now, Buffy?" Angel whispered into the Slayer's ear, making her shiver.
"Well, after they make love about a million times—they have so much time to make up for, y'know: they didn't find each other for a while—Billy's thinking of trying ice skating in San Fran during his down time, and is even thinking of asking Devon to join him."
Angel smiled one of Buffy's favorite half-smiles before shrugging with, "Sounds good to me."
And a part of Buffy was about to beat him up for simply shrugging, but oh. She suddenly found her lips very much occupied, and it was good.
She stood on her tiptoes to get closer to him and wrapped her hands around his neck, but that wasn't close enough.
Soon, Buffy was jumping up and wrapping her legs around Angel's neck and pushing him back into one of Nadira's walls, as her lips moved to find his neck now and his hands moved up under her shirt and did magical things under her bra. She moaned then, and he moaned when she bit gently into his neck.
They needed to move out of Nadira's fast, before they did something unforgivable here.
And so they did.
And so they also went home to San Francisco, too, and never looked back.
Author's Note: I decided to take a break from this one super long Bangel fic I’m writing right now and do this, because there hasn’t been much Bangel fic posted lately. -sobs-
Lately, I’ve been coming up with different Bangel stories each night to go to sleep (my version of counting sheep). And this was the one I thought of the night before I decided to take a break on my super long fic and post something for you guys, and thus it’s the one I wrote.
This was inspired by when I was first reading the comics, and how I thought it was Buffy and Angel talking to Billy and Devon at first, and not Buffy and Dowling (I kind of wish that that was the case…), and so I decided to write an AU where it was, and thus this fic was born.
