Tag you're it with a parrot (but I'm always it because Charlie likes being chased) - a little essay-post of budgie communication and body language.

Note that I'm not a professional, but I have been living with this bastard (affectionate) for 4 years and it's been working out well so far, so here goes.

This is a very very quick conversation and I was unaware that I was doing it at the moment, but looking back it's kinda interesting.

Up to this point we were playing with the brown pencil - tapping, the Touch command, he was throwing it off the table and having fun.

Then it started to bore him, so he chose to play something else. One of his many favourite games: The Claw! We play it a few times a week, but the mood has to be right.

Him asking to change the game is visible at the begining - looking where my hand went instead of playing with the pencil.

I raised my hand to show that I'm not holding anything, in case he was wondering about that. Turns out he wasn't! He turns sideways - this usually means: "I'm looking at that/I'm interested in that"

Okay! The first thought I had was to do the Claw. This gets a nod and a beak click - beak clicks always mean a "yes" and are always playful, at least with Charlie. It means he's down for whatever I'm asking.

Happy head feather fluffing as well, which means he's happy or even excited, so I probably guessed that right. I do a little finger wiggle to ask for confirmation. "Hey I'm about to chase you, you good with that?"

Goodness, more fluff! He runs away a bit, along with little peeps, plus raising his head. That's a bird that wants to be chased.

One more question just to be sure - I pretend to try and catch him. "I'm gonna do it". He just gets even more excited - the backward head tilt/head twitching.

Ooh, this is The Play Chasing Pose. Feathers up, head low, feet far apart, ready to run, but not scared.

So I chase him around a bit, giving him breaks, always checking if he's still having fun, or if he's bored/uncomfortable. He never once is in the whole video, he's always very happy and down to clown.

Checking in to see if it's all good halfway through:

It is! He still has energy to spend, too - he jumps up onto my hand instead of climbing one foot after the other. So we continue the game.

The rest of the video is pretty much the same thing again, me always asking for permission and Charlie insisting on playing some more. He was very energetic today, haha. Slept really well, probably.

So.. Yeah, this was. I guess a little post to maybe help you understand budgies a bit more. They're really inteligent creatures, I think they deserve more love than they get.

Why the damned clown seemed to believe she knew where some stupid map was, she wasn't even sure, but she had been off the sea for far too long, so much so she felt like she had gone weeks without water. "Look Budgie..."

"Whatever. I don't know where this map is you're looking for." She didn't need any map to The Grand Line. She'd been there often enough with her father growing up as a pirate to know the way. The Scottish timbre to her tone getting stronger with her frustration.

It was hard to fight someone whose abilities meant being able to come apart. Not even her own natural abilities could do anything to combat such, even if she wasn't already weak and wounded.

Another hit came from the side and the young captain fell to her knees with a groan as the boot went flying back towards the clown.

the bird on the right is a Goldfinch, the abomination on the left might be a budgie? It's the right colour and has the right beak shape, if that's what it is. Would make sense seeing as they were both popular caged birds at the time but with old timey christmas cards honestly who knows. Love the podcast, can't wait for this year's round of festive esoterica!

Thanks! I'm still having trouble distinguishing the goldfinch from the... smudge? heh. But you're likely right. There were loads of cards with birds. Just birds. Not even all dead! And I've seen tons of goldfinches and budgies and robins and you name it. And there's a couple cards with that same drum outline, but they have a frog and clown and a couple other random things "bursting" out of it. This one just kinda has them in the circle? With smudgy shading around them? Dunno. It may also just be a horrible scan. Most of what I share are just scans I find instead of the physical thing. I have plenty of those, but nowhere near as many as I have on hard disks. :)

I couldn’t be arsed to do another redesign of the mask and I’ll probably just stick to the plainer version I used on Isaacs redesign but anyways here’s some of the Will redesigns I was planning out and here’s some additional information about him:

Full name is William Elijah Clement.

Date of birth is August 28th 1977.

19 years old (my version of Creeps takes place around 1996-1997).

5’7.

Autistic. He was diagnosed when he was six.

Born in South London.

His father was a man named Oliver Clement, who was directly descended from Isaac, hence Will’s connection to Jack. Oliver was a full time worker as a paramedic so Will doesn’t remember much about him, the main thing he remembers is that he was extremely jittery and paranoid.

His mother was a woman named Irma Clement (née. Levin). Will was extremely close to his mother as she was the parent he most often saw.

Will has lived with Jack since he was a teen. He’s known Jack for a lot longer than that though.

Jack sees Will as a son to him. He’s dead protective over him and shelters him as much as possible. Will doesn’t really see Jack as a father, he mostly just sees him as “sometimes funny clown man that takes care of me.” Granted, he still likes Jack, even if he is a bit suspicious of him.

Dresses like the fifth member of Blur. Lots of striped shirts, loose jeans and colourful necklaces.

Loves birds, comics, medieval history, Edgar Allan Poe and all things 70s.

Speaking of birds, he has two budgies. They’re called Zazel and Blondin.

Listens to David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and nothing else.

Tried to dye the ends of his hair pink but he forgot how it turns out with red undertones so now he just has faded orange ends.

Taught himself how to cook. It was a matter of he either learns it himself or spends the rest of his life eating takeaways or whatever Jack brings back whenever he goes out. Still can’t bake for shit though, the only thing he can do decently is brownies.

Pretty damn good at fighting. Despite being pretty thin and not particularly strong, he’s very fast and agile. However, if he gets too close to an opponent and they manage to overpower him then he is fucked.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: has killed, can kill and would kill if need be.

Tries not to kill in general though, he feels bad about it.

Doesn’t really see a point in going to the institute, since he knows enough about fighting to pass his classes.

Kind of naïve to how the underrealm works (Jack’s fault, not his), and as a result can be overly optimistic. Less about the creatures there, more about the people.

Reserved. He mainly keeps to himself and tries to keep his head down. Whilst he’s pretty naïve about the underrealm, he does know that being a human there is risky.

Bit of a pushover, he’s not really a fan of starting fights, mainly because he can’t be arsed, so he just kind of puts up with people.

His worst trait is absolutely he fact that he can be snobbish as fuck and I’m sorry for what is going to be the first few chapters of this rewrite.

Best trait is that he does genuinely care about pretty much everyone he knows. If someone were to make friends with him and he would literally die for them.

Slightly addicted to black jacks candy. And cigarettes.
