Here's a new news item from ZUMA. "May 28, 2020: FILE: GARY BUSEY's near-death experience changed his views on life. In an interview with The Guardian, the 75-year-old actor recounts his 1988 motorcycle crash after which, he says, he died and came back to life. I guess it's been a year since I shot this one of Gary. I was working with my favorite publicist and their most adorable client the legendary Ed Asner. Gary was scheduled to attend and he did. I remember another time many years ago hanging out with Kim Shattuck of The Muffs in the Deep Ellum Bar in Deep Ellum. I think Gary had an overdose or something a day or two before. One of the people at the Deep Ellum Bar serving us pointed to where Gary had set with friends only a few feet away a day or so before that incident. For Rockin Rollers, the kind of is the kind of DL we love. Many years later I was at a Christmas party Maria Conchita Alonso threw in the Hollywood Hills. I was near the entrance doing my thang when the door burst open and appeared Gary blazing with energy with the smell of cigarettes invading my nostrils 5 feet away. A bit startled I said Hi Gary, what's up? Responded he's just got off his motorcycle and was wondering where Maria was at. I sd she's out at the patio and pool. He exclaimed, "Man, I need a smoke!" He bid his adieu and stormed to the patio. Later when I walked out he was hanging with 3 ladies and smoking with a vengeance.
