Protector by @rookthorne
After an eternity of being held against your will, and just as long having been forced to watch your alpha suffer at the hands of the wicked, an opportunity arose. An opportunity so rare, so unique, that it would never be offered again. It was time to escape, and it was time to bathe the halls in their blood – never again would you be held by the bars of a cell, not if he could stop it.
SERIES
Heart and Soul by @all1e23
Alphas only brought trouble. The only thing they are good for is bringing their Omega’s pain and forced submission. They were dangerous, reckless and cruel. There wasn’t an ounce of kindness in any of them. She didn’t need an Alpha, and she certainly didn’t believe in that True Mates fairytale. That was just some fabricated fable Alphas made up to trick innocent doe-eyed Omegas. She wasn’t going to fall for that. Not again. No Alpha would ever get her to believe that love truly exists. And then, James Buchanan Barnes walked into her life.
Better Like This by @simsadventures
You are the newest addition to New York’s elite team of Detectives concentrating on domestic violence and rape, which everyone calls the Avengers. You are an Omega, very bubbly and open to everyone around you, and everyone is super sweet to you, except one person- Bucky, your true mate. Will you be able to destroy the walls he has been building around his heart for years, or will he reject you and break your heart forever?
Some Alpha by @ofstarsandvibranium
Bucky is an Alpha, but can never seem to find someone who wants him to be their Alpha. Until he finds you, a Beta, who’s as firey as an Alpha, yet also tender-hearted like an Omega.
Heal by @chucksfavouriteprophet
For months you managed to distance yourself from Bucky Barnes, the alpha you long for. But one night you have no choice but to comfort him, something which brings out emotions in both of you. Except it also brings out emotions in the Winter Solider, which results in a devastating turn of events that neither of you might be able to come back from.
All The King’s Men by @nastybuckybarnes
Your father always said that if it weren’t for your presentation, he’d think you were an Alpha. There’s a reason for that. Growing up in a world where Omegas are treated like garbage, you’ve fought for the respect that you have. Until you’re sold off to an old King desperate for a bride. But you will not lay down and present for your new husband. No, you will fight back.
Mr. Grumpy by @holylulusworld
Bucky hates omegas. You change his mind.
knife play by @helvonasche
They're on the run and Bucky goes into rut.
Knight In Rusty Armor by @revengingbarnes
For the sake of politics and to get rid of you, their omega daughter, the King and Queen of England marry you off to the King of France. Settling into an unfamiliar monarchy is a tedious process all by itself, but a new problem arises soon after your arrival at your new home. One of the Knights turns out to be your true mate. Your Alpha. The one you are meant to be with. But you’re mated to someone else. And that someone else is the King of France.

~*~
“They’ve set fire to the Palace! We must hasten!”
Screams echo from the Palace as you rush through the servants' hallways, your personal guard pushing people aside in his haste to get you to safety.
You mutter out soft apologies to the women you pass, gathering the base of your gown and hiking it up as you sprint after him.
“Come, I can smell the stables. This way!”
You run after him, slowing only when you see your horse.
“Hurry, Princess. Up,” Steve says, helping you up onto your horse and climbing onto his a second later.
“Now we ride!”
As if hearing his command, your mares both start sprinting away from the Palace.
Away from your home, your people.
A risked glance over your shoulder at the flaming building breaks your heart. But, what’s worse, is the group chasing after you and Steve on their own horses.
Following your gaze, the blond glances back and pushes his mare to run faster, desperate to get you to safety, to do his job properly without fail.
“Go, Princess!”
You follow his command, looking back again when you hear him slow his horse.
“Steve!”
With a yank on the reins, you guide your horse back to his, heart in your throat when you see him unsheathe his sword.
He’s sacrificing himself to keep you safe.
“Go, Princess! Now!” He shouts, holding his shield in one hand and a sword in the other.
“No! I won’t leave you!” You grab at your own sword and slide off your mare, stumbling against the uneven ground.
“No! You are of no use to your people if you are dead. You must go.”
You shake your head, tears welling up in your eyes.
“I won’t leave without you, Steve.”
He lets out a sigh and presses his forehead to yours for a brief moment.
“I will find you, Princess. This, I swear. Now you must go.”
“You will find me,” you order softly, pulling away from him and looking into his ocean-blue eyes.
He nods firmly, determination in his eyes as you climb back onto your horse.
“I will,” he promises, turning to the sounds of battle.
Your mare starts sprinting away, and only moments later do you hear the sound of swords clashing.
It takes every ounce of self-control you have not to turn around and fight by his side.
But he’s right.
Only the Gods know if your sisters survived, and if they didn't then you’re the only hope your Kingdom has.
You ride through the night, your mare expertly dodging trees and roots and running far away from the danger.
You’ve no idea how far you’ve gone nor where you are, when your horse stumbles on the uneven ground, launching you off of her back and sending you flying into the woods.
Your head smashes against a tree and you tumble to the ground in a heap as the world around you fades to black.
~*~
You awake with a soft groan, your head pounding and your body aching.
It takes a moment for you to remember what happened, but when you do you’re lurching upright regardless of the pain in your head.
Instead of being on the forest floor, however, you’re in a soft bed. The sky is not above you, instead a roof is.
You push to your feet and examine yourself, noting the lack of bindings around your arms and no pain between your legs.
So you haven’t been taken by someone who wishes to do immediate harm to you, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t hurt you at some point.
After taking a few deep breaths to steady yourself, you slowly open the door, peaking around before fully emerging.
You’re alone.
You explore the small house, keeping your breathing light and your feet even lighter.
It has one bedroom, a small kitchen, and an even smaller bathroom.
Your sword and weapons are all piled on the kitchen table, filling your heart with glee. With quick fingers, you slide them all back into place and hold your sword tightly, then head to the front door.
As you’re about to leave, with one hand on the doorknob, the door gets pulled open from the outside.
A huge body steps through the doorway without noticing you, and then you’re colliding with a hard chest.
“Oof!” You exclaim, nearly tumbling to the floor.
A study arm wraps around your waist, keeping you steady, and then you’re pressed against a warm chest.
“Whoa, easy! You shouldn’t be moving too much! That wound on your head looks pretty bad, you must've hit it hard when you fell.” He slowly drops his arm from around your waist and steps around you to inspect the wound in question.
“I cleaned you as best as I could while keeping you decent and your modesty intact, but I gathered some clothes that used to belong to my sister, and I need only light the embers beneath the tub. Now that you’re awake, you can truly clean, I’m sure you must want to.”
You stand there in the doorway, absolutely flabbergasted as this man drones on and on.
He must not know who you are, then, you decide.
“Here, I'll show you the way.”
You already know the way to the bathroom, but you follow him anyway, leaving a wide berth in case he makes a hostile move.
“Who are you?” You ask skeptically, watching as he keeps his back to you, leaving him vulnerable. He must know how many weapons you have, for he’s the one who took them from you. So why is he trusting you like this?
“My name is James,” he says with a small smile thrown your way.
You nod slowly, assessing him carefully.
“I am (Y/n),” you reply after a moment, waiting for the pieces to click in his mind, for him to realize who you are and try to kill you, but he never does.
“It’s very nice to meet you, (Y/n). The water should warm up soon. Linger as long as you’d like, I’m going to be in the kitchen making some food and a nice warm cup of tea for you.”
He leaves immediately after, pulling the door shut behind him.
You wait for a lock to click, for footsteps to barge into the house, or for some sort of fire to start, but nothing happens.
You wait for half an hour, each second ticking slowly in your mind, your sword held tightly in your grasp. Eventually, you strip down to your white slip and step into the warm water, a dagger held in one hand and a washcloth in the other.
Maybe it is an ambush, but if it isn't, you don't want to waste this opportunity to clean yourself.
Throughout the entire bath, the door stays closed and nobody tries to enter. Not once.
Once you’re finished, you dress in the clothes he gave you. The dress is a little snug, but a tug on the stitches fixes that swiftly.
It’s nothing spectacular, but you can move comfortably and even fight in it if you need to.
With a dagger in one hand and your sword in the other, you slowly emerge from the bathroom and into the kitchen where James is seated, humming softly to himself.
“How are you feeling?” He asks once he notices your presence.
“Better. Thank you.”
He nods, that gentle smile on his face again.
He rises to his feet and motions to the chair across from where he was sitting, then turns and walks to the counter, “the water is still warm. I wanted to wait to have my own tea with you. I have so many questions for you.”
You watch intently as he pours two cups of tea, handing one to you and then sitting back down.
You wait until after he’s had a sip of his to have a sip of your own, and when the flavour hits your tongue you can’t help but relax a bit.
“It’s my mother’s recipe. She used to make it for my sister and me whenever we were sick or upset. I thought... it might make you feel better. I can’t imagine how scared you must’ve been, waking up in a strange place.”
You want to tell him that you weren’t scared, a warrior doesn’t feel fear, but instead, you take another sip of tea.
“What happened? I found you lying in the woods near the creek, a horse protecting you. It took me nearly ten minutes to tame it enough to check you for injuries. Where are you coming from? Your clothes aren’t from Lornilla and I’ve never seen a woman carry so many weapons before.”
His waterfall of questions gives you a few answers.
Your horse is safe, no one knows where you are, and you’ve wound up in the invading Kingdom of Lornilla.
“I am... not from around here. I travelled a great distance, and I was thrown from my horse when she tripped,” you offer only that as your explanation and he nods, beyond curious but not wanting to push you any farther.
“Where am I?” You ask, taking another sip of the tea and looking around the small house again.
“Just outside the village. If you follow the gravel road there it will take you to the heart of Lornilla, though I don’t recommend a woman such as yourself going there alone.”
Your brows draw together, “do you not think me capable of protecting myself?” You question, your ego bruised.
His eyes go wide and he’s quick to try and explain himself.
“N-No! I just... they don’t treat women well there, is all. ‘Specially not women who defend themselves. You look like a strong person, and, based on all the knives you have, I don’t doubt you could defend yourself, but it’s dangerous to speak against men, even as a man.”
Ah yes, the patriarchal ways of Lornilla rage on.
You have to hold back an eye-roll at the thought of such a useless Kingdom treating women terribly.
But that brings you to your situation now.
You remember the smell of smoke and the sound of screams as the Lornillian army invaded your kingdom.
You know not if your sisters survived, nor if your mother did. But, knowing your mother, you know that if she went down it was not without a fight.
“Are you all right?” James asks softly, worry pulling his brows together.
Why does this random stranger care so much?
“Why did you help me? Why not leave me in the forest?” You ask, ignoring his question.
“You... you were hurt. I couldn’t just leave you there.”
“Why not? Anyone else would have. Or done worse, if we’re close to Lornilla.”
He nods, his lips pursed for a moment, “I’m not anyone else. I’m me. And I know that, were it my sister in your shoes, I’d hope someone would help her. You probably have a family... a husband... who would be terribly worried about you. I know that if I had a wife and she went out and were hurt... I’d want to know that there was a good person somewhere willing to help her.”
His answer surprises you and, as you look into his eyes, you see nothing but truth in them.
“I have no husband,” you tell him after a moment. “I know not if my family is alive. There very well could be no one looking for me...” your thoughts drift to Steve and your heart hurts a bit. “Does this change your thoughts at all? Knowing that you could do whatever you please with no consequences?”
A sour expression covers his face and he shakes his head, “It is not the consequences that stop me from doing terrible things, it’s the actions themselves.”
You watch him for a long moment, surprised and intrigued by him, his kindness, though you don’t fully trust it yet.
“If you do not have a husband, do you know anyone nearby? You must’ve been on your way somewhere, is there someplace I can direct you?” He asks gently.
You shake your head, a grey cloud darkening your mood as thoughts of your family fill your mind, worry tying a knot in your stomach.
“I... no. I don’t know anyone nearby. I don’t even know where I’m meant to go.”
He looks at you, at the way your shoulders slump forward slightly, your eyes draw down and defeat colours your tone, and he feels bad that there isn’t more he can do.
“You’re welcome to stay here for as long as you need. I hope you don’t think I’m trying to make you leave. As long as you need, you may stay here.”
You smile gratefully at him, ignoring the stinging in your eyes.
“Thank you, James.”

Soft King Bucky
Im in the middle of writing this smutty fic with arranged marriage and King Bucky and in the middle of writing it, i had another thot pop up which I have to get out right now like RIGHT NOW.
Imagine soft king Bucky on your wedding night. Its the first time you’ve ever been intimate with someone and your anxiety has been high all night because you know the maids and servants will inspect the sheets the next morning, your honor and dignity thrown to the wind.
But that's the way things were.
You gave yourself to him, letting him touch you and make love to you, sealing the both of you together as you had promised in your vows. He was careful and soft, cradling your body to his, focused on knowing you would be protected along his side, putting your pleasure before his.
You wanted to melt into him, feel every ounce of the love he was willing to give but anxiety held you from letting go, worried about the aftermath, worried about if he see you were pure.
The euphoria that consumed you both pulsed through you as you sat up, your stomach dropping at the stark white sheets. You scrambled up slightly in hopes of something but the sheets were anything but tainted, pure and clean as if you’d never laid on his bed.
“I’m-I’m sorry-” Tears well in your eyes, panic rising in your chest, fearing the anger he’d feel, seeing you as tainted and impure.
“What for darling” He whispered, concerned etched on his face as you let out a choked sob, not knowing what you could possibly go, there was no evidence to show you were pure, untouched before him, to show that he was the only man to have you this way. You squeezed your legs shut, curling up in a ball, shame consuming you, already hearing the words the kingdom would brand you. “My princess?”
“I didn’t-I don’t understand, the sheets- you’re the only one I’ve-” You trembled as he pulled you into his arms, shutting your eyes, unable to watch his disappointment when he saw who he married. Bucky’s brows furrowed, taking a moment to understand why you were so distressed, hiding your face away. He thought over your words, tension crawling up his back, his jaw clenching when he understood your fear. He wrapped his arms tightly around you, keeping you close to his chest, pressing a firm kiss to your head, his lips brushing your hair as he spoke.
“I agreed to marry the intelligent and headstrong princess to rule by my side because her mind and beauty had my heart when I saw her. A fierce woman fit to be by me, when she rode her horse into my kingdom alone, demanding justice for her people without fear of what could happen to her”
He reminisced the day you strode into his castle, head held high, not a drop of fear in your eyes with a dagger strapped to your hip, sword firm in your hand.
He fell in love before you opened your sweet lips to tell him right off.
“Look at me princess” He cupped your cheeks making you meet his intense gaze, thumbing away the tears that streaked your cheeks, “I shared my bed with you because I wanted to love you in in every way possible, not as a test of your worth”
You were still tensed, curling up into him further while he moved you to lay on top of him, your head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. He pulled the covers over you, protecting you in a cocoon of warmth, tilting your chin to meet his eyes again.
“You have my heart, that is as pure as it gets” tucking your hair away from your face, pulling you in for a kiss to your lips. “No one else gets to decide that, princess, no one”

Are any of the motocross guys into thigh riding?
Yes, nonnie! All of them are into thigh riding. Let's imagine just a little bit with our guys, shall we?
Banner by the talented @cafekitsune.
Steve - He rubs his hands up and down your sides and encourages you to move. He’s almost too handsome to look, but that deep timbre telling you to open your eyes is impossible to ignore. His expression is one of bliss as you move faster and your forehead touches his, a bit of affection mixed with the naughty act.
The perfect mix for the two of you.
Bucky - He lays back slightly with a smirk and watches as you go to town. You may narrow your eyes if he grabs your hips and tries to control your pace, but you love it when his fingers dig in and guide you. You also love it when he shoves his leg up so that the wet spot on his pants gets bigger.
But what you love the most is how he tells you how beautiful and amazing you are before he kisses you.
Ari - He wants to stay close to you, so he keeps a hand on your hip and the other on the back of your head so he can pull you in deep kisses. His voice is like gravel when he tells you how good you are, how pretty you are when you let go. He may rub his beard along your neck before his lips find yours again.
Because he loves feeling those sweet sounds vibrate on his tongue.
Hal - Since you’re a bit on the shyer side, he’s happy to go at your pace. It’s slow, gentle, and he can’t help but moan when you tremble. He places a hand on your cheek so you can’t look away when he says how gorgeous you are. How you’re a goddess. That you’re the only one he sees.
Both of you figure out pretty quickly that his praise goes straight to your core.
Jake - Oh, this man can still hardly believe you’re his most days. So he lays back and can’t decide where to put his hands. Maybe your breasts since he loves the weight of them in his hands. No, your ass. He can grip it and help you grind on his thigh. Oh, maybe your hips. Your thighs?
He touches you everywhere and you’re more than happy to let him.
Chris - He doesn’t like any space between the two of you and shifts so his chest is against yours. You gasp when brings his thigh up over and over as he brings your hips down. It’s filthy, like he’s actually fucking you, but he tenderly mouths along your jaw with words he longs to say out loud.
And he holds you after like he’s going to lose you.
Curtis - He has to keep from smirking when you grip his shoulders and rock your hips. It’s not like he means to make it a challenge when he says you can’t get off on his thigh, but he likes riling you up. And he only buries his face in your chest since it’s right there and has nothing to do with that sweet perfume he claims he can’t stand. He may even bite down when you climax.
So you don’t forget that you’re his girl you came on his thigh.
Love and thanks! ❤️

In the city's heart, shadows danced in the alleyways and whispers carried weight, the weight of the Rogers dynasty. Steve Rogers, a man of authority, led his empire with a determination that brooked no dissent. His wife, Natasha Romanoff-Rogers stood by his side, an equal in every sense, and her presence was as chilling as a winter evening.
Their legacy was filled with secrets, built upon the bones and blood of those who dared to oppose them—bounded by a fierce love that went beyond the chaos they masterminded.
Then, there were the twins. Their children, you and Peter, bore the weight of your parents' legacy on your shoulders.
Peter was the elder twin, a reflection of your father’s determination. From a young age, your parents groomed him to inherit the family business. He was schooled in the art of manipulation and intimidation.
You were the younger twin and the polar opposite of your brother. Where Peter had embraced the darkness of the family name, you sought out the light. Your innocence remained untarnished as you wandered through life with wonder and hope.
Together, you were the heirs to the Rogers legacy, a legacy steeped in blood and betrayal.
Your paths diverged further as you grew older. Peter had immersed himself in your family’s business, an ambition driving him to climb the ranks of the underworld. One day, take over your father’s mantle.
On the other hand, you yearned for something more, something that went beyond the confines of your family’s gilded cage.
As the Rogers legacy thrived, a whisper of a testament to the power, love, and loyalty lurked within. You and Peter stood at the edge of your destinies as a shadow of your father’s past loomed ever larger, threatening to consume the Rogers whole.
It was in the wake of this ominous threat that your father, the patriarch of your family, made a decision that altered the course of your life forever. Concerned for your safety, he turned to his oldest friend, a man who was forged from the same steel as himself: Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes. Known throughout the underground as “The Winter Soldier” but to you and Peter, he was “Uncle Bucky.”
“Will you protect her, Buck?” Your father’s voice was grave as he asked for his friend's support, his eyes reflected a weight of the world that had settled upon his shoulders.
Bucky’s gaze met his with a solemn node. “You don’t even have to ask, Steve.” And with their agreement, a new chapter in your life began.

Bucky lived in no way an out of ordinary life for a common folk in Valencia, currently he sat in the town tavern and drank as fools got into fights and arguments, and mistresses of the night bargained with men and women alike. He didn’t pay much attention to these people, he was alone and he preferred it that way, when a cloaked figure came up and sat next to him, he tried to hide his annoyance. A pint was put in front of the person who began to drink from the glass. Bucky kept his gaze forward, pretending not to notice the stranger. He gripped his mug tighter, weighing whether or not to say something when the figure spoke first, their voice low and calm, the feminine tone of the stranger's voice caught him off guard. His eyes flickered toward the hooded figure, though he still didn’t turn fully to face them. A woman? Usually a respectable woman wouldn’t find herself in such a place.
“Don’t worry, I’m not looking for conversation. Just passing through.” She spoke passively. Bucky nodded, the woman peeked his intrigue, her presence lingered in his thoughts as he drained the last of his drink.
As the barmaid decided it was closing time Bucky was one of the first to leave as was the cloaked woman. She seemed to run in the direction of the forest near the castle, Bucky liked his casual life but this woman felt magnetic in so many ways Bucky was gonna do the first out of the ordinary thing in his life, follow her.
Her legs moved knowing if she got caught the reprimanding would never end, it wasn’t until she was in the forest she knew she was being followed, she did the only thing she could think of and that was hide in the tree line, as she watched for who was following her. It was the man from the Tavern? He stopped, catching his breath, and then spotted her. She was half-hidden behind a tree, watching him. “Who are you?”
“You shouldn’t be here.” She ignored his question.
Bucky stepped closer. “Nore should you.” He scoffed.
“I know where and where not to be.” She spoke with confidence.
“Maybe. But I’ve seen enough to know something’s not right. If you’re in trouble, I’m not just going to walk away.” He shot back at her, a serious look in his blue eye shone brightly.
She looked at the dark sky and she sighed, the distant sound of rustling, almost like footsteps, caught their attention. Her expression hardened again, and she took a step closer to him, her voice dropping to a whisper. “We need to keep moving. If they find us here, it won’t end well…I’ll explain what I can.” He followed her as she moved swiftly through the dense forest, the shadows of the trees swallowing them up. The woman glanced back at Bucky, her face barely visible beneath the hood. “Stick close.” she instructed, her voice a low murmur. “And try not to make any noise.”
He matched her pace, his eyes scanning the dark woods for any sign of danger. “So, what’s this all about? Why are we running?”
She sighed. “I snuck out.” The woman said, confusing Bucky more.
His pace stopped making her slow down. “From where?” Now he didn’t know if he was traveling with a criminal or something of the sort.
Y/n signed and spun on her heel. “The castle, now come on, I have to get back before the sun comes out, if you want an explanation then I suggest you keep moving with me.”
Bucky’s hesitation was still evident. “Why would you sneak out of the castle unless your a prisoner or something.”
She was getting annoyed by the man's questions. “I’m the princess okay, now follow me. Or you’ll be taken to the dungeons by them.”
Bucky’s eyes widened in surprise, his steps faltering for a moment. “The princess? You’re telling me you’re royalty?”
“Not what's important right now.” She got him to follow her, once she was sure they lost them, they stopped and rested, she answered Bucky’s questions.
Bucky looked around, trying to make sense of the situation. “Why are you running from the castle?”
“I’m not running away, as I said I have to go back before the sun rises, I just snuck out for a few drinks, and to get away.” Y/n now removed the cloak hiding her, Bucky now could see she was young and stunning.
Y/n’s eyes met Bucky’s, and she could see the confusion and concern etched on his face. The moonlight highlighted the delicate features of her face, making her look even more ethereal. Bucky’s gaze lingered on her, trying to reconcile the image of a royal princess with the woman who had been sitting next to him in a tavern.
“So.” Bucky began, still processing her words. “You’re telling me you’re a princess who just wanted a night off from all the royal stuff?”
“If I could I would forever be off from royal stuff. It's not as great as you’d think.” She sighed. “I know I'm lucky, it’s just, let me just ask you, if you were to marry someone you don’t know would you be okay with it?”
Bucky’s eyes widened slightly at her question, the gravity of her words sinking in. He looked around, as if the forest could offer some clarity. “Marry someone I don’t know? That sounds like a nightmare. Who’d want to spend their life with a stranger?”
Y/n’s shoulders relaxed a bit, a trace of relief in her eyes. “Exactly, and I’ve been arranging to marry this person since I was child, that’s why I'm enjoying as much time as I can till that happens.”
Bucky’s expression softened with empathy. “I can’t imagine what that must be like. To have your whole future decided for you before you even had a say in it. It sounds like a prison of a different kind.”
As they spoke the sky began to turn into a crip blue. “I have to go now.” Y/n said standing from beside him, on the forest floor.
Bucky offered her a reassuring smile. “If you ever need anything or if you just want to talk, you know where to find me.”
“Thank you…” She led on not knowing the man's name yet.
“Bucky, uh James.” He corrected.
“Y/n.” She smiled, feeling a warmth in the brief connection they shared. As she made her way back to the castle, Bucky headed towards town.
Y/n found her secret way of getting out and into the castle wall. “You're late.” Natasha, her lady in waiting, had her arms folded over her chest.
Y/n sighed, then a sweet smile pulled onto her lips. “I know, but it was the greatest night by far.”
Bucky shut the door of his home he shared with Sam and his wife Monica, Sam was a royal guard, and Monica had a shop in town to sell things that came from their farm that Bucky kept. “Didn’t Hela close up hours ago?” Sam asked, getting ready to leave for the castle.
“Yeah, I went for a long walk.” Bucky lied easily knowing that Sam’s job might have obliged him to tell the king.
“Sure you did, what's with the dopey look then? You met someone!” Sam smirked, and had his mouth hanging in shock. “I’ve told you a hundred times you could have any maiden you want in town, the fall over you.” Sam jabbed. “So you gonna tell me?Is it Doloras? Or what about Yelena?”
Bucky’s mind was pulled back to his time with Y/n. “I didn’t meet anyone, I just went for a walk. Now if you mind I'm gonna get a bit of rest before I take care of the animals, and fields.” Sam’s lips pierced, he was gonna tell Steve of Bucky’s update, maybe he’d know?
Y/n and Natasha made it to her chambers. “We have to start getting you ready, did you even sleep?” Natasha fussed over her, Y/n’s father wasn’t known to be a kind man to the staff of the castle nor his own family, don’t even begin on how he was as a king. “I told you to be back-” “Before sunrise the sun isn’t even up yet.” Y/n sighed. Y/n moved to her dressing table as Natasha began working on her hair and makeup. The castle was already waking up, and the sounds of servants and courtiers preparing for the day filled the halls. Y/n’s mind drifted back to her conversation with Bucky. The brief respite from her royal duties had been refreshing, but now she had to face the reality of her impending marriage.
Natasha worked in silence for a moment before speaking, “Your father will be meeting the King’s emissaries today. The wedding plans are moving forward rapidly.”
“I’m aware,” she said, her voice laced with resignation. “The entire court is buzzing about it.” Natasha’s hands paused for a moment. “You seem more troubled than usual. Is it just the wedding, or is there something else on your mind?”
Y/n glanced at her reflection, the weight of her responsibilities and her recent night out clashing in her thoughts. “It’s not just the wedding,” she admitted quietly. “Last night was... a reminder of what I’m missing. I spoke with someone who made me feel like there’s more to life than what’s laid out for me.”
Natasha's face fell. “Y/n.” Natasha’s voice was a warning almost, she hadn’t ever supported the marriage due to Y/n being her friend, but Natasha also warned Y/n not to be seen or caught, knowing if someone caught word of the princess leaving all signs would point to Natasha helping her. “You know I’ve always wanted the best for you. But you must be careful. If word gets out about last night, or if anyone suspects me of helping you…we both know the consequences.”
“I know it was risky but he followed me into the forest when I was returning to come back.” Y/n sighed, looking at her hands more thoughts of the night spent with Bucky, she couldn't tell Natasha that he knew she was princess, she’d lose her mind.
Natasha’s eyes widened slightly at the mention of being followed into the forest. “He followed you? That’s risky. You should have been more cautious.”
“I was careful.” Y/n said quickly, her voice edged with frustration.
Natasha softened, her tone empathetic. “I know it’s hard. But you have to keep your focus. There will be time to address your own desires later. Right now, you need to play your part and keep your head down.”
Y/n sighed, glancing once more at her reflection. “I’ll do what I have to. But I can’t help but wonder if there’s a way out of this... a way to find something for myself.”
Bucky awoke, he began to get ready to head out and begin his work for the day and as he did the night before played in his mind of the princess and her confessions, and how genuinely good she seemed. It was different and hard to fully understand the woman talk about her life, being royalty seemed to have been nice until he had spoken with her now hearing the other side that comes with it, Bucky felt lucky, as he stood tending to crops. As Bucky worked in the fields, the weight of his encounter with Y/n lingered in his thoughts. He found himself contemplating the stark contrast between his modest, uncomplicated life and the gilded cage that Y/n described. The notion of having one’s entire future predetermined seemed almost alien to him, and he couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for her.
Soon Bucky made his way into town to see Maria, at her store, as he did he noticed the crowds lining the streets, this confused him till he saw the blue and gold carriage rolling through the main path to the gate of the castle, this was a usual thing for the town when a wealthy or highstates person came they would show respect to the person by gathering. “Who is that?” Bucky asked as Maria came to his side on the path where everyone stood.
“A King, I assume for the Princess.” Maria shrugged, Bucky’s eyes widened as the realization dawned on him. Last night had been a rare moment of freedom for Y/n, and it might have been her last. The weight of that understanding settled heavily on him.
As they spoke, other townsfolk nearby chimed in, their voices a blend of speculation and excitement. “We’ll be united with the kingdom of Eldoria if this wedding comes to pass.” One man said, his tone edged with fear. The thought of joining Eldoria, with its strict laws and militaristic culture, was unsettling for many.
“You don’t think the king would allow it right?” her voice shaking with apprehension. Eldoria's rigid patriarchal norms were a far cry from the values of Valencia, where women had greater rights and freedoms. The idea of such a union highlighted the stark contrast between the two realms and fueled fears.
The more Bucky listened, the more his stomach tightened with unease. The thought of Y/n marrying into such a repressive society was troubling. Eldoria's brutal legal system and its emphasis on male dominance painted a grim picture of what Y/n’s future might hold.

The Swan Princess
Pairing: Bucky x female reader
Summary: Fairytale AU based on the movie The Swan Princess – Bucky and you hate each other! Your kingdoms hope for a marriage between the two of you, but each summer you have to spend with in each others presence makes it worse – until his friends start to befriend you and he realizes you have more in common than he thought. But when he was ready to finally accept his feelings a curse hit you.
Warnings: Reader is called Sunshine, maybe some stuff that isn’t accurate because I couldn’t decide on a time this would take place and switching POV’s
Word Count: ~7k
A/N: This is for Nika! I started it so long ago as I rewatched the movie I liked so much as a kid and I still loved the part when they were kids! Sadly my favorite part didn’t fit in, as Bucky wouldn’t offend you in 5 syllables or less. @intrepidacious
Once upon a time there were two kingdoms divided by a sea. It wasn’t so long ago to be honest, but that’s just how fairytales start and this is the one of the swan princess. We’ll get to the part with the swan soon, but first we must start when she was just a little girl.
Her parents had both passed and the kingdom was without a ruler until the princess was of age. Until then a council was ruling the kingdom on the island. The council often argued but there was one part everybody agreed on: They needed to bond with the kingdom of Shield. An arranged marriage would solve all their problems as Shield had an heir only one year older than the princess. The only problem was that the late king and queen had made sure that their daughter should only marry if she wished so and should have never had the pressure of an arranged marriage. And so the council came up with a plan that they proposed to Queen Winnifred of Shield, who immediately agreed. Both kingdoms would benefit from a joining and the plan was made that the princess and prince would spend each of their summers together to hopefully fall in love.
They didn’t get discouraged when the princess and prince hated each other at age seven and eight. They were young kids and both thought the other gender was gross. Prince James even wiped his mouth after he was forced to kiss the young princess hand. „James, behave!“ the queen called him out.
„But mom, girls are just gross,“ James said in a whiny voice and looked up to his mom.
„You don’t think so about Natasha, right?“ His mom tried to point out, but his mind was made up. He wanted his summer spent with his two best friends Steven and Natascha – not being forced to entertain a stuck-up princess who had been apologizing repeatedly that there had been mud on her dress when she stepped outside the carriage. Natasha was covered in mud and didn’t complain!
His only logical response was to tell his mother that Natasha didn’t count. She sighed, but didn’t force him anymore. They still had time and they were still kids.
It didn’t get better the following summers. James, Steven and Natasha had been friends for years and spent all year together. You on the other hand didn’t have any friends. The council, maids and teachers raised you, so your childhood wasn’t really one for fun. You learned how to stitch and to sit properly at a table, so you were always lost when the three kids started games that you didn’t know and soon you rather sat with the maids and helped them stitching some flowers onto a tablecloth.
It all came to a turning point when Samuel came along. He was the son of a new teacher and only a year younger than you – and he was your first friend. He played hide and seek with you and taught you that it was okay when the seam of your dress was dusty and that you could clean it. And soon your laughter was heard in the castle and you were smiling as you were finally having fun. Which gave you the nickname Sunshine from the guards and maids in the castle as you were still always politely greeting them and asking how they were, while sneaking them little treats – but now you were mostly smiling and happy while doing so.
“Sunshine,“ James, who went by Bucky now, scoffed. “What kind of stupid nickname is this?“ He kicked a stone that was lying in front of him on the path and then even his supposed to be best friend had gone behind his back. “Hi Sunshine,“ he waved in the air with a stupid grin towards a tree and made gagging noises afterwards. No one was here to see him, but he had to get it off his chest. It was supposed to be Steve and him against you. Not you bringing a friend along who glared at him the whole time and Steve greeting you with a horrible nickname that wasn’t even fitting. And now he was stomping alone to his tree house while his traitor friend was making new friends and forgot all about the pact they both had made years ago to never befriend you. He hoped at least Natasha was still on his side.
It turned out that Natasha wasn’t on his side as both her and Steve reminded him, they weren’t ten anymore and that you could all spend your time together. But Bucky watched how you joked around with the guards and the smile you got back made him roll his eyes. Why were you charming everyone? He had heard about the whispers how they hoped that there would be a marriage. But he was only 14, he shouldn’t even be thinking about stuff like that. And with you? No way!
You on the other hand didn’t think your summers sucked anymore. Sam trained to be a guard and was accompanying you to your visits still and Steve and Natasha were nice and started to include you – even if it sometimes meant to exclude Bucky. Stupid nickname, you thought. And he was always especially mean when you played cards and he lost. But it wasn’t your fault when luck was on your side and that he had a tell when his cards weren’t as good as he pretended them to be.
“We could go to the market tomorrow on your last day here,” Steve suggested when he shuffled the cards. Bucky wasn’t amused but in the end he agreed to go to – at least he could get one of the best peach pastries, that would make up for the day. And at least you were gone soon and he would have his friends to himself again.
A carriage was taking the five of you to the market the next morning with four guards trailing along. They weren’t too keen to accompany the teens on an outing, but then you came and handed each of them a flower and thanking them for trailing along. One of them even put the stupid wildflower through his chain armor – which caused you to smile so brightly that Bucky finally understood why you got that nickname.
People swarmed the young prince when they saw him and you snuck away with a guard and Sam by your side. A lovely smell pulled you towards a bakery. “Good morning,” you greeted the baker when you stepped inside the small building.
There was only grunting as a response until the tall man turned around and spotted you. “Oh, excuse me. Good morning, princess. What can I get you?”
“What can you recommend?” you ask and looked around. In response the baker held a finger up in the air, turned around and came back with a steaming plate in his hands.
“These are the favorites of the prince. He loves them and gets them every time he comes by. I hope you’ll like them just as much. Maybe I can even provide them for your wedding, it would be such an honor.”
That made your eyes grew wide. “What wedding?” you asked stunned, but Sam had already placed some coins on the counter and grabbed the plate.
“Thank you for that, I’m sure we’ll enjoy them,” he said and pushed you towards the door while the guard just shook his head towards the baker.
“What wedding, Sam?” you asked him in a quiet voice when you stepped outside and he was already tasting a small pie.
“Oh yeah, well... they all hope that you and Bucky will marry,” he picked a crumb from the corner of his mouth with his tongue. “As if you couldn’t get someone better and not as brooding. What about Steve? I could see that, I think?” He was quiet after that and you pushed the half-eaten pie in his face. You could hear a chuckle behind you.
“Stop talking nonsense,” you said and grabbed the plate from him. You shared them equally with the others and Bucky was surprised that you even handed him one and that you got his favorite.
-x-
“What are you reading?” Bucky let himself fall into the seat next to Natasha. He just came from lessons and a meeting and he was tired.
“A letter from Sunshine,” his friend replied casually, but Bucky peaked up.
“You exchange letters?” he asked confused and was more awake.
“We have for three years now,” Natasha confirmed. “Mostly we write about what a dumbass you are.”
“Haha,” Bucky replied, but he wasn’t so sure she was really joking. He hadn’t been the friendliest towards you, even though you had tried.
“Other than that, she’s really nice. And lonely, Bucky. She’s living on an island without her parents. Her only friend there is Sam and her whole childhood was constantly pushing her into being a queen. She’s 17 now and the only times she was outside of her kingdom was here and let’s be honest, we weren’t friendly with her at the beginning. It’s only two months until she’ll come again, just try to not be as annoyed, will you?”
“I’m not really that annoyed with her anymore to be honest. It’s just that people expect that we’ll marry each other. They watch like a hawk how we’re acting and it’s,” his voice turned quieter at the end until he stopped himself.
“I get it,” she said and pushed her elbow into his side. “Maybe you should write to her about it. If there is one person who’ll understand how you feel it's her. Just clear the air and maybe you’ll be friends. You don’t have to marry her, you know? And before you say that it's expected from you and that both kingdoms could benefit from it... Be Bucky first and future king later. Just try to talk to her normally, you’ll see she’s nice.”
“I’ll think about it. After dinner,” he added when his stomach let out a loud growl.
In the end Bucky did send you a letter. And you replied, which motivated him to write a response and you both agreed to just try to be civil towards each other. You also both started to talk about the pressure both of you felt and with the hushes of whispers of a marriage that was following you when you were walking through the halls.
Bucky was looking forward to see you this time, because it seemed like you just got him. And so he was smiling when he stood in front of the castle, next to his mother and best friends and saw the carriage on the horizon.
“Are you smiling?” Steve teased his friend quietly, but the queen still heard and was beaming.
Sam was the one helping you out of the carriage and maybe that was a good thing because you knocked the breath out of the prince. It had been nine months since he last saw you and maybe it was because he had never really looked at you before or maybe it was because he now knew a little bit more of you, but you were beautiful. And when you smiled at Natasha who beat him to greet you, he decided that from that moment on he would call you Sunshine too. Steve came next and then his mother nudged him so he would finally come forwards and greet you.
He wanted to greet you with your title, he really did, but when he kissed your hand for the first time and wasn’t grossed out by it or the idea of standing near you, your nickname slipped his lips as a greeting.
“It’s good to see you, Bucky,” you replied and he held your hand when he guided you towards his mother where you could greet the queen.
“Do you want to lie down after your travel?” he asked you, but you denied and so it was decided that you would all gather for tea in the green house. He knew it was one of your favorite places as Steve had told him so. It was something you didn’t have at home. Bucky offered his arm and you accepted with your friends and guards following behind you.
“What is happening?” Sam asked Natasha and Steve, not believing his eyes. But that was only the beginning and when the second month of your visit was coming around no one was batting an eye seeing you and Bucky arm in arm anymore. Instead, the whispers weren’t whispers anymore and they were openly asking you when the wedding would be. But no one of you even bothered to reply to that.
“Since when do you like that brat?” Sam asked, referring to Bucky the name you had given him when you were younger.
“Since I noticed he isn’t really a brat,” you replied and tugged Sam along on your way through the garden. “We were kids, we aren’t anymore and I kind of like him now. He kind of gets me in a different way.” You then realized what you said to your best friend and started to apologize, but he stopped you.
“I get it, kind of. It’s something different for someone who is in the same position. And I mean he is friends with Steve, so how bad can he be?” he chuckled and you continued your way. As if on cue your name was yelled by the blonde, who ran up to the two of you and asked if you wanted to accompany him into town as Bucky was sitting in a meeting.
When you came back you had some peach pies in your hand and were on the search for Bucky, who was searching for you as well. When you found each other and you held out his favorite pies for him and him a flower (because he just had to give it to you as he knew it would make you smile), your friends all had a smile or smirk on their faces when you agreed to dine with Bucky while Steve decided he would eat with Sam and Nat in the kitchen tonight.
This was the first year that both parts weren’t glad that the summer was over.
“You can write to me, if you want to,” you said when Bucky was leading you through the castle towards the carriage that would bring you to your ship.
“I will,” Bucky promised and cleared his throat. “And you don’t have to wait for next summer to come visit. You can come visit in winter too. We have places here that are nice in the cold too. And the greenhouse is heated we could sit there even when it’s snowing outside. I mean, if you want to,” he added more shyly, but still hopeful.
“Do you mean that?” you asked and stopped to look at him.
“Absolu-,” he started but didn’t finish as the impact of your sudden hug cut him off.
“I would like that very much,” you admitted in his neck.
“You’re always welcome here,” he told you and although his mom had said the same sentence to you often, you never felt them like now. The farewell did take longer until a guard told you you needed to leave before it would be too late for the ship. You promised again to come back sooner and went on your way.
It was late in the evening with Steve and Natasha being in a competitive round of chess when a knock was heard above the storm outside. At the same time as a thunderbolt was hitting outside the door was opened.
“Prince James, sorry to interrupt but I thought you wanted to know. It’s about Sunshine, I mean Princess,” he started but Bucky was already jumping up at your name and stalking towards the guard that wasn’t even fully in the room. Steve and Natasha had also stopped their game and walked closer so they could hear the guard over the storm.
“There has been an accident. Samuel is here and he says they got attacked.” Bucky knew that Sam would never leave without you. His heart got heavy as he feared for the worst. The guard pointed him in the right direction where Sam was sitting on a chair while someone tried to get a look at his leg that was bleeding.
“We were attacked,” Sam said as soon as he saw Bucky running towards him. “I couldn’t really see what it was and I tried to get Sunshine out of there, but there was suddenly a bright light and she was just gone. I couldn’t find her, I searched for her, you must believe me! I would have never left without her! She wasn’t there and with the injury I thought it was better to get you.”
Not soon after Bucky left with a few men despite the storm. But they couldn’t find anything despite the carriage and the men that were left there. They couldn’t see that much and the rain would wash away every traces soon, but even Bucky had to admit to himself that they couldn’t do anything more now. The next few days and nights were restless, but your friends were searching for you.
What they didn’t know was that they had no chance of finding you. You were held at an enchanted place and even if they found it – there was no way that they would recognize you. Which would be the only way to help, but we must rewind a few days.
After the attack on the carriage, you were knocked out. When you woke up your feet were wet and your dress had soaked up a lot of water. You tried to push yourself up, but you were too dizzy to do so.
“Ahhh, my princess is awake. That is good, we can wrap this up in a few minutes.” You couldn’t recognize the voice, but something was off and nothing could have prepared you for the next sentence. “My dearest princess, would you please marry me?”
Your dizziness was all forgotten when you pushed yourself up. “What?” you wanted to scream, but it was more of a whisper. One part was because of the ridiculous offer, another because the man in front of you looked nothing like a man with the red skin across his face.
“Isn’t it simple? When I’ll marry you, I’ll be king!”
“Why do you even want to be king of Madripoor so bad? Wouldn’t it be easier to just kill me?” You didn’t know why you were even suggesting that, it was like an offer of your part and you didn’t know what he was capable of.
He walked closer. “See, the thing is your folk loves their princess. When you’ll finally agree to marry me, your kingdom will accept me. Because there has to be something good about me, when Sunshine decides to marry me. And you and I both know why I want your kingdom! Usually islands need more help, so I wonder why no one was suspicious that a lot of things just grow there. The things you could do with the Tesseract and you fools use it to let the ground be more nutritious,” he scoffed. And you were shocked that he knew about it - it was one of your best kept secrets! “Don’t look so shocked, I knew your father. But enough of that. Will you marry me?”
“No, never!” The words were spat out of your mouth and he nodded as if he had expected that.
“Then we’ll see each other tomorrow. Goodnight my little swan.”
You would scream if you could be sure he wouldn’t hear you and wouldn’t know he got under your skin. Why was your life so unfair? You felt helpless!
The secret had been kept for generations. Once your ancestor found a cube that had a blue shining. When he took it in his hand he felt the force from it. It had been a hard year, the rain hadn’t stopped and the harvest had been weak. His folk had been starving and so he had wished for a miracle to help him. The miracle had been the stone that was called Tessaract and the information had been only shared by a few selected people. But as it always had been when there was a force was that someone tried to steal it for their own selfish purpose. The guy that had kidnapped you and whose face you hadn’t seen yet was once called Johann Schmidt. He was a magician wo had the Tessaract for a short while. But he was too selfish, wanted too much at once and now he was called Red Skull as it described him the best now. HIs face was deformed and red and he wasn’t ashamed. Why should he care what he looked like when he almost had the solution for infinity? He had to get closer, but he couldn’t come back to the island, your father had made sure of that. So had trapped you at the lake. You could only turn into a human when the moonlight hit the water on the lake and you were touching the water. You could turn back into a swan anywhere as soon as the first rays of sunshine were seen.
Days passed and the routine stayed the same. Every night he came back, asked the same question and walked away when you refused. You were standing at the end of the lake waiting for the moon to rise. There was something in your feathers that you tried to pick out with your beak when something slammed your body into the water. You tried to lift your neck, but something pushed you under the water. Something sharp was pressed into your body and it hurt, but then you felt your body shifting. The struggle for air was still there but suddenly your human head was out of the water and you took a big breath. A pressure was on your chest and when you looked at it you saw a white cat staring at you. If a cat was able to look puzzled this one just did.
“Did you attack me?” you asked and the cat looked from its paw that was resting on your chest towards your face as if it couldn’t understand what was happening here. Which it probably couldn’t. The cat stayed close to you after that, followed you when you were walking around at night in your human form (and hid once Red Skull came to ask you the dreaded question) and when you turned back into a swan it stayed near you. It even laid beside you when you finally rested your eyes and thought back of home and your friends.
Meanwhile Bucky, Steven, Natasha and Samuel were gathered in the greenhouse as it was the only place where they wouldn’t be disturbed.
“Okay, I hate to say this, but we searched everywhere. I don’t know how, but if they’ve taken her, they must be really far away,” Steven sighed. He was exhausted, not that he would say that out loud but his friends looked like they would drop from the chairs any minute now.
“We can’t give up,” Bucky still sounded determined, but his eyes were closed. He just needed to rest them for a second. That’s why he didn’t notice the yellow and orange sparks that started to appear.
“What is that?” Natasha asked and it caused Bucky to raise his head. Everyone was staring now at the sparks that appeared in a circle until they suddenly spotted a blonde woman, stepping confidently through it and stopping in front of Sam.
Bucky didn’t have a weapon with him so the first thing he could think of was standing up and taking a few steps into the direction of the new arrival. “Samuel,” the blonde woman said coldly.
“Yelena,” Sam replied, not much warmer.
“You’re an idiot.”
“I know,” the man agreed, which caused the others to share a confused glance. Their attention was divided by another newcomer. A man with white streaks in his hair and a long red cape followed through the hole and then the sparks died.
“I’m magician Strange, this is Yelena and we’re here to search for the princess. As this was the last place where she was before she disappeared we needed to come here. We’re sorry for coming in here unannounced,” he said, but he didn’t sound as he was sorry at all.
“Where were you coming from?” Natasha asked and walked around the place where the sparks had been and only a small black trace on the floor revealed that there had been something magical.
“It’s called a portal and I don’t have much time. Yelena, if you’re done with staring at Samuel, would you help?”
It still took a few seconds for the staring contest between the man and woman until she stepped back and stood next to the magician. “We need something from Sunshine that she recently had on her,” she said and suddenly Bucky felt as if he couldn’t move under her stare. Maybe it was magic too.
“I’m not going to give someone I haven’t even heard of something of her. Maybe you’re after her and I would only help you.” Bucky managed to say. He couldn’t see it, but Natasha and Steve were nodding behind him.
“You haven’t heard of us because we’re in a secret organization. That’s the point: You don’t see or hear us.” He could have sworn he also heard an insult, but it was too quiet.
“They tell the truth. They live on the island and they’re there to protect the land. I know Yelena and I know of Strange, I was wondering when they would show up.”
“Then a warning would have been nice,” Steve commented.
Samuel recreated the story of how you were taken and the other added where they had been searching for Sunshine and what they found at the damaged carriage. They brought the magician and his shadow towards your stuff. Magician Strange wasn’t interested in your clothes and books, but then he found a stone. It was a regular stone, he didn’t have a special color or a special shape. They were confused why it had been there, but Strange claimed it was the object they needed. Sunshine carried around the stone with her on her travels as it was a gift from Steve. He had given it to her when they started to become friends and he had pressed it in her hands and told her if Bucky was annoying her again she should just throw the rock at him. He had laughed and ran away, but it was the first present she got from a friend and so she kept it close to her. Strange told Yelena he would open a portal for her where he would feel she was with the help of the stone, but he looked more than confused when the other people said they would follow through. He tried to tell the prince he couldn’t just send him out, but in the end he noticed he didn’t have a chance at a discussion with them and he wanted to get their princess back so he agreed.
Packed with weapons they stepped through the portal. When Bucky looked back he saw Strange staring back at him before the portal closed. They were in a forest, trees he had never seen surrounded him. He could hear the animals, a few birds and frogs. While the others discussed how they should approach they divided in teams. Yelena, Natasha and Sam while he would walk with Steve.
“Take this,” Yelena pressed a red stone in his hand. It was smooth and cold. “If there’s black magic around it will glow and alert you. Be careful.” She nodded at him a last time before she walked away with Natasha and Sam.
“That’s a lot. Suddenly there’s magic, we just stepped through a hole full of sparks to step out into a forest and we have a stone that will glow when we stumble across magic. But I guess that’s what you’ll have to do for the woman your best friend loves,” Steve concluded.
Bucky looked from the stone to his friend who was smirking at him. “I thought she was your friend?”
“Oh, she is! But she’s also the woman you fell in love with. I actually thought we would have this discussion when she would have been gone for a few days and you noticed that you miss her. Not here – mostly because I didn’t know this part existed.”
“I already noticed,” Bucky admitted and looked at the stone. No glow, still cold and dull in his hand. “That’s why I invited her for winter. And that’s why I’m afraid we won’t find her.”
“We will! Now come, so you can tell her,” Steve patted Bucky's shoulder and with more determination than ever they walked through the uneven path. Suddenly there was a glimmer in the stone and Bucky tugged on Steve’s sleeve to show him without having to talk. The closer they walked towards a lake the brighter the glow became. The fact that the sun was down and the moon was about to come up made it look even brighter.
By the end of the lake was a white swan staring at them. Next to it was a white cat - also staring. “It seems like it comes from them,” Bucky whispered. “What should we do? Should we catch them? The swan and the cat?”
“I mean we were only here to find Sunshine,” Steve was interrupted by the swan making angry noises at them. Before they could say anything else the swan was startling them as it ran in their direction. Its beak was pulling at Bucky's sleeve, and it ripped. Steves arrow was pointing at the swan, but the bird took another bite into the fabric and Bucky was too stunned and almost lost his balance as the swan was pulling him in the direction of the lake. When he gained back his balance and pulled into the other direction, he lost another piece of fabric. It almost seemed as the swan huffed and waddled towards the water alone – still followed by the arrow. As soon as it could the swan swam on the lake and the cat followed to the muddy path where it could still stand and interrupted the line of the arrow.
“What should I do?” Steve asked, but Bucky only had eyes for the swan. As soon as the reflection of the moon hit the water small splashes flew into the air until they swirled around the swan.
“What is happening?” Bucky asked but had already drawn his sword. The cat looked unimpressed even by the splats of water that were hitting it as it was still staring at Steve. The water went higher and higher until it suddenly stopped and fell. But where previously had been the swan was now Sunshine. “How?” Bucky breathed.
“Bucky,” you sobbed and ran towards him. As you had to travel through the muddy part he had enough time to lower his sword and wrap his arm around you as soon as you reached him. Your tears landed on his shirt, but he couldn’t care at all.
“Are you okay, love?” His arm pressed you against him and he savored the moment you were in his arms. The stone in his hand suddenly wasn’t only glowing but turned hot. The air around them was shifting.
“You have to go,” you exclaimed and pushed him away.
“We just found you,” he tried to say, but you kept on pushing. “Go now, before he sees you. Please,” she begged when he didn’t move at all. The cat behind you was hissing. “Just hide there,” you pointed somewhere where the trees were thick. Unwillingly Steve and Bucky walked where you pointed and they only did it because they noticed your panic. The white cat was also hiding in the high grass and Bucky had to watch as you tried to dry your eyes while the grass around you started to become greener and flowers started to grow.
“There you are,” he heard a voice and his eyes were about to fall out when he spotted someone walking towards his Sunshine. “There is no need for tears, we can turn them into happy tears if you’ll finally accept my offer of marriage. Your days as a swan will be over, you can go back to your island. So will you marry me?” Bucky had to watch as the man with the red face stepped towards you and tried to wipe away your tears. He was about to confront the man, when he saw you stepping back and he could hear your disgust when you declined.
“Oh this would have been your chance, princess. Did you think I wouldn’t notice your little visitors. This was your last chance,” with a swipe of his hand the enormous tree where Steve and Bucky were hiding was split in two. “You think you can save her? What fools you are! Have fun finding her now!” A loud boom was heard and before they could do anything the whole area around them changed. Loud cackling was heard and suddenly hundreds of swans were surrounding the two flabbergasted men. They couldn’t see Red Skull anymore but could hear his voice before it faded out. “No more human form for you, princess. Let’s see if your prince will recognize you now.”
“Where is he?” Steve asked confused.
“Where is she?” Bucky asked at the same time.
It was loud, very loud. They could almost not hear each other despite standing next to each other, but the swans were making so much noise. They were making their way towards the lake while a few of them came towards Steve and Bucky. One snapped at Bucky’s sleeve. “Sunshine?” he asked, but the swan only turned more aggressive. Another one was biting in Steve’s shoe.
“Sunshine?” Both yelled in the hopes that you would hear them and come towards them. But they only saw birds over birds.
“And why are they so aggressive? Sunshine?” Bucky complained and tried to take some steps forward, but there were too many birds. Suddenly a few swans were extra loud and two started to dive into the air. Feathers were flying around and they could see something else between the swans: a white cat. The one which had protected Sunshine.
“We must reach it, I bet it will be able to recognize her! Can you grab it?”
“One of them just stole my shoe!” Steve complained and tried to move forward but slipped on the ground and almost fell on one swan. In the end he managed to grab the cat who climbed his form more than willingly and sat down on his shoulder. “Got it, Buck!” As soon as both men stood next to each other the cat walked over to Bucky's shoulder. Together they moved and when the claws retrieved from Bucky's skin, he knew they came closer.
Until the claws came back full force suddenly and the noise in his ear indicated that Sunshine had to be close to them. That’s when he spotted one swan fighting against two others and the cat jumped in, ready to shove her claws into the bird. Steve was pushing one out the way and Bucky almost ran to the animal that was injured and tried to scoop it up in his arms, but the bird didn’t want to be caged.
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” he tried to soother it. “Calm down, Sunshine. I’ve got you!”
It was these words that did the trick. Suddenly it was very quiet around them while the swan and the prince stared into each other's eyes. One by one the other swans disappeared until only one remained.
“I think she needs to be on the water to change,” Steve’s voice sounded much too loud in the now quiet area. Bucky was finally able to lift the swan he believed to be his princess and carried it towards the water. And as soon as the feet touched the surface the water started to spin splash against both – although the prince couldn’t care less as he stared into the face he came to love.
“You’re hurt,” he exclaimed once he let his eyes roam over your body and saw you clutching your arm against your torso.
“It’s not much, but we need to leave. I think the curse might be broken I feel more like myself I think. But we need to get out of here in case he comes back.”
The prince agreed. He might be a good swordsman but he was helpless against magic. The three of them made their way back to where Bucky and Steve came from, including a white feline following them. Bucky didn’t hesitate to pick it up and place it back on his shoulders. As soon as it had a comfortable place where it was secure it retreated its claws and slung its tail around the prince neck. With Sunshine to his right and Steve on her right side they continued their way.
“Okay, so we have Sunshine. And now how to we get back? The portal is closed?”
“Oh, I might be able to fix this,” you said and walked towards a burned place on the ground. Suddenly your voice had more authority than they had ever heard from you. “Magician Strange, I order you to open this portal right now so your crown princess can come back home.”
“How did you do that?” Steve asked when he watched the sparks to appear again. You pointed at a bracelet around your wrist with an orange stone like the one they had in their hand. When you told them it was a precaution so you could stay in touch with the magicians it dawned on them that they didn’t even have a plan to get back or if they even should have made it back. And later when you heard the whole story you fell even more in love with your prince and were glad that you had such good friends who risked everything for you.
“It’s so good to see you, princess,” Strange lowered his head instead of a bow.
“It’s good to see you too, magician Strange. At least one magician I know I can trust.” Your recap of the story was interrupted when another portal opened and Yelena, Natasha and Samuel stepped through. Samuel didn’t even care that he had to bow before you – never in your life had you seen him rum so quickly and his arms were thrown around you. A burnt smell filled your nose, but you didn’t care and wrapped your uninjured arm around him.
“I’m so sorry I failed you,” he almost sobbed in your shoulder.
“You didn’t fail me,” you assured him. It was chaos after that. When Strange heard the whole story, he took Yelena with him to face Red Skull and they disappeared through the portal. After a lot of hugging and checking in with each other (and calling a healer for your arm) you all agreed to get cleaned up to get rid of the burned smell and the smell of swamp.
Many hours later you were all still gathered in a sitting room. Your head laid on Bucky's shoulder and you had problems with staying awake. Sam was currently retelling the story of a dragon they had faced and you weren’t sure if you should believe him if it wasn’t for Natasha who backed up his story. The white feline was laying on the softest pillow next to Steve, but decided that your lap looked more comfortable.
“You can sleep, princess. We’ll all protect you,” Bucky mumbled in your ear.
“I need to go home tomorrow, but maybe – would you like to accompany me? I could show you my island and to be honest,” you paused as you weren’t sure if you could share your feelings now.
“I’m not ready to be apart from you again too,” he assured you and a featherlight kiss was pressed against your hair.
“Okay, good,” you yawned and your eyes finally closed.
In the end the two kingdoms were reunited. And while it was a huge political thing that no one really wanted to get into it was more about their princess. As the story started as the Sunshine and the Grump it didn’t end that way. Because when their King looked at his Queen you wouldn’t know who smiled more. It was a story of love that most people would only find in a fairytale book. And with their friends who travelled with them from the island to the mainland it wasn’t only a story about love, but friendship and family. And as we stated that the story wasn’t so long ago, they still live very happily.

Summary: Betrothed to two Kings, you travel with them to their home where you learn more than you ever thought you would. But how are you to cope with two husbands who want to start a family and secure their place in the world?
Chapter 2
You woke early the next morning, washed quickly, and let your lady help you into the dress she’d laid out for you the night before. It was a delicate dress, the colour complemented your complexion beautifully.
Satisfied with your appearance you smiled at your image in the mirror then turned and practically skipped from the room.
The sunlight flooded through the windows as you hurried downstairs, skirts clasped in your fingers to prevent you from tripping. You felt light, lighter than you had since your mother died. you had the chance to escape this place, and with two handsome kings no less. You weren’t totally naive, you knew there would be challenges but you would be free of this stifling palace. That had to count for something right?
Downstairs the seats at the breakfast tables were packed with visitors and guests, the Two Kings looking distinctly out of place among the finery.
You hovered around your father’s chair trying to get his attention but his continual ignorance of you drove you to break with etiquette and seek out your husbands-to-be without a chaperone at your side. James was chewing on a piece of bacon as you slipped into the empty seat next to him, and opposite Steve who was slicing fruit and eating it off the blade of his knife.
James paused mid chew and looked over your body, his gaze lingered on your bosom before he met your eyes and continued with his food. Steve shook his head and, you suspected, kicked James under the table.
You shrugged a shoulder, but deep inside you were quaking, you’d never been openly admired like this. As you reached for some sweet bread and fruits Steve batted your hands away and proceed to serve you, filling your plate with pastries and then slicing the fruit you had selected. You were aware of both men watching you as you ate but the room had grown quiet as more and more people noticed that you had chosen to sit with your betrothed instead of your family.
The men barely spoke, preferring to communicate in grunts, shoulder lifts and silent conversations by eye contact. You relaxed among them, especially after a few minutes of eating seemed to brighten their morning moods. Across the table two of their men started bickering about who’s horse was faster, and a woman with red hair was lusting after one of your cousins.
“Nice to look at, dull to talk to,” you advised the redhead who laughed loudly at your words.
“A case of gag him and shag him then,” the woman said and you spluttered water all over yourself. Steve frowned at the woman but didn’t comment, just went back to eating his meal.
“Now, now Nat, you’re embarrassing Stevie,” James chastised. “Our Stevie here is a bit of a-“
“They’re called manners Buck, you should use ‘em Sweetheart,” Steve sassed and your tummy flipped at the sight of them teasing each other.
A voice hissed your name in your ear, and you turned a sweet smile on your father. “Explain yourself!”
“I was hungry, so I come over to find my betrothed. This is okay, isn’t it Daddy?” You pouted at him. King Howard frowned at you, showing his distaste but James turned the scowl back on him and you watched as your father shifted uncomfortably under James’ gaze. He took a step back and glanced at Steve.
“Of course it is daughter,” he said with a tight smile, taking the seat beside you.
“When will the wedding be?” Steve asked him. You bowed your head, and you were shocked when James touched his fingers to yours. A foot tapped against your shoe and you glanced up at Steve smiling your way.
“I was thinking three weeks,” your father said loftily.
“Not soon enough. It will need to be this week; we have business to take care of at home, and the first frosts are already covering the ground,” James countered. You turned shocked eyes to him, but he ignored you in favour of staring your father down.
No one had ever spoke to your father like that in your presence, but it seemed that James wasn’t in awe of the man, and you got the feeling that Steve wasn’t either. They spoke their mind, that much was obvious. You admired the simplicity, you hated the manipulations and court games.
“I, ah, well it’s not really proper, I haven’t had time to organise a dowery and-” James cut King Howard off again.
“We do not need a dowry; We’re not marrying your daughter because of money. If anything you could provide her with the appropriate winter attire and perhaps organise a residence for us so we may visit with you in the summer months, if that’s acceptable to our bride of course,” Steve said.
Tony made a strangled noise behind your father’s chair. “What she wants isn’t important here; this is a union between our...” Tony said but wilted off under James’ dark look. He had turned to face Tony and even sitting down James looked more powerful than Tony.
“Surely it’s your sister marrying us and not you?” Steve challenged Tony diplomatically.
“Well, ah, yes...” Tony said with a curl of his mouth, once again lost for words.
“Well then Honey, a home here you shall have, be it bought with our coin or yours, I don’t really care,” James said turning back to his coffee for a moment. He took a sip and then frowned again as if something occurred to him. “Don’t you treat your women folk like the goddesses they are?”
“Women, of course we do, they, well...” Tony stuttered while King Howard flushed.
“What Daddy and my darling brother are trying to say is that women are vital to their survival and... Entertainment.” You said with a smile. You liked his attitude, goddess indeed. And you enjoyed watching the men challenge your family.
Steve made a noise in his throat. “We would like to be married by the end of the week. I’m sorry if its rushing you, but we need to get home again. If you would have accepted our proposal at the start of this summer it would have been more convenient, but brining a North Man here during the autumn is not the wisest thing to do King Howard.” Steve said leaning back in his chair.
“We were considering our options,” your father said coldly. You glanced at him then at Steve, trying to work out who would give in first.
James was sitting quietly beside you, but you could feel the tension in his body as if he were ready to pounce. He spread his knees and nudged you slightly, offering a small smile. You smiled back, feeling safe in his company.
“It’s been an interesting chat. I will arrange to have the wedding date brought forward-”
“If it pleases your daughter,” Steve interrupted rudely.
“If it pleases my daughter, then yes.” King Howard said raising his chin. His lips were crushed into a thin white line, but he hid his fury as best he could.
“Well, have you asked her?” James demanded, finally speaking up.
“Asked her what?” Tony said loudly. Several people turned to stare at them. James almost rolled his eyes.
“If it pleases her to marry us sooner than later,” Steve prompted slowly, speaking as if to a child.
“Does it please you, daughter, to have the wedding brought forward?” King Howard asked through clenched teeth. You pretended to consider if it did or not, but he was already on edge, so you did not push too far.
“I suppose that would be acceptable,” you eventually answered, looking at Steve in time to catch the edges of his smirk.
“Alright then. Tony,” King Howard said standing up.
“We’ll keep your daughter with us for a few hours if you don’t mind, we need to get to know our future wife.” James said as he slid his arm along the back of your chair.
You watched a vein in your father’s neck throb as he stood and stalked away, Tony glaring at all of you in his wake before he trotted after the king like the sheep that he was.
“Now that was fun,” James said slumping down in his chair and shooting a glance at Steve.
“It was,” Steve agreed with a wink, and then, as if you were their prey, they both turned their attention to you.
“I think it’s time you showed us around your home, Doll” James said into your ear. “I’m sure you can show us some secret corners.”
You blushed and ducked your chin into your chest as both men chuckled at your bashfulness.
———
You curled the length of silk around your hand, marvelling at how strong and durable the delicate ribbon was.
You bit your lip and watched it move and shimmer in the candle light that flickered next to you. You were to be married the day after tomorrow and this was a gift from Natasha, the redheaded warrior who travelled with the Kings.
Instead it reminded you of yourself, this material, out of its natural habitat and stretched thin, but then you had never truly felt at home here. You sighed and looked out the window at the well lit evening. Stars twinkled around the moon which cast long shadows across the courtyard below. It was busy; several cases of your belongings were moving out the gate to where the Northern army were camped, waiting for their leaders.
Your ladies maids had spent the evening in your private rooms, and for once they’d been frank. The three women were concerned for you, worried at what you might have to do as a wife for not just one, but two men. Two powerful kings.
“Mine wasn’t pleasant, William was big, you know, down there, and it hurt for several days until I got used to it,” Erica had said with a slight flush on her cheeks. “I think he forgot that I hadn’t been allowed to educate myself prior to joining him in the marriage bed.”
Lucille bobbed her head in agreement. “Jack was impatient with me. I was nervous, and I know he was too, its memorable for the wrong reasons.”
“I can’t begin to imagine what two men will do,” Erica added with a frown. “With each other I mean.”
“Oh, use your imagination!” Maggie said with a shove. “Princess, you have nothing to worry about. I’ve seen how those two men have been looking at you, and I know for a fact that not all men are brutes. If they’re not gentle and respectful just bloody tell them, don’t stand for them being assholes.”
“It’s easy for you to say, you’re not married to a king or a duke,” Lucille muttered.
“No, worse, I’m an unwed woman with a promiscuous past,” You gasped mockingly. “Come on, you’ll be fine, I know it.”
So, they left you like that, sitting by your window, your tummy fluttering with nerves and your head filled with dreams and ideas of your future.
You were deep in your fantasy so the sharp knock on your door was a shock.
You peered around the heavy oak to find James standing barefoot. “Can we talk?” James asked. He was wearing soft clothes, and he looked comfortable, ready for bed.
“Of course!” You pulled your dressing gown around your chest and opened the door. Behind James, Steve offered you a smile, and you nodded him into your room, then closed to door gently so as not to attract attention.
You stepped back on your toes, nervous at having the men in your bedroom. They did not seem uncomfortable; Steve padded across to your couch and sat practically in the middle, his knees spread wide like you had seen soldiers in the courtyards do when they relaxed. James took a turn around the room, examining the trinkets and treasures that made the room feel like home. Tomorrow most of it would be packed away.
You hovered and Steve patted the seat to his left, so you sat primly on the edge, your hands in your lap.
“We want to talk about our very different cultures,” Steve said leaning back on the couch and stretching his legs out. “Buck, put that down.”
Bucky rolled his eyes and turned away from your perfume bottles. You resisted the urge to giggle at the playful look on his face.
“Why do you call him Buck?”
“Bucky, actually,” James said. “I prefer my friends to call me Bucky, lovers too,” he practically leered at you.
“Bucky,” Steve’s voice had a warning in it, but you suspected they were playing.
Steve stretched his legs, crossed his ankles and hooked his arm over the back of the chair forcing the shirt he was wearing to ride up and show a slice of his toned belly. You couldn’t help but notice the darker trail of hair beneath his naval, just like in your books. A happy trail they called it. You swallowed and looked back at his face, reminding yourself that you were a strong woman among idiot men. But then that irritating little voice reminded you that you didn’t think these men were idiots.
“Okay,” you said as Bucky made himself comfortable on the ottoman at the bottom of your bed.
“In the North women aren’t as,” Steve paused obviously searching for the right word, “’prim’ as they are here. Or anywhere really. Women are warriors, women rule, women are equal to men. I’m an only child, but Bucky has sisters, and they’ll all inherit something. Bucky married me so that his sisters would have a kingdom to inherit themselves, and we have promised our protection to their realm.”
You looked at Bucky, and he made a face at you. You giggled again, and Steve shook his head fondly at his husband.
“Only men inherit here. If a father has daughters and no sons then he searches for a suitable son in law,” you said moving to get more comfortable and countering his fact with one of your own. You pulled your feet under your nightgown and rested your heels on the edge of your seat.
“Barbaric, don’t you think Doll?” Bucky suggested. “I mean, you’re as smart as any of your brothers.”
“I know. My father would not allow me a proper tutor,” you said looking at your knees. Tony, to his credit was a smart man, but so were you. Your father refused to accept it though, adamantly insisting that wives didn’t need education.
“I suppose we have our work cut out for us then,” Steve teased. “With us, women have more freedom, I think than here. It’s unthinkable in our land for a woman to be a virgin on her wedding night. You want to enjoy your evening, and as Natasha likes to say, you need to make sure your happy with the goods.”
Bucky chuckled from his seat across from you. Despite what you had read in private, you felt a blush rising on your cheeks at the thought of going to bed with these men. In their loosely dressed state you’d already seen more of them than you had any other men in your life.
“I - are you here to seduce me?” you asked, your eyes flicking between them.
“We haven’t come looking for sex and gratification for our own needs if that’s what you think, we’re here because while you have cultures and traditions so do we. We have been told we won’t be allowed to see you tomorrow, because its bad luck. We like to bring breakfast on the wedding day to our betrothed. In the North by this stage a couple usually know each other very well, and are living together, sometimes with children,” Bucky explained as he stood and closed the distance between you, crouching next to you and brushing his finger over your toes. You giggled.
“Who brings the breakfast?” you asked resting your chin on your knees.
“Whomever is the least hung over,” Steve said with a curl of his lips. “So that would be me. It was me on our wedding morning.”
You giggled and nodded, the smile seeming to etch itself permanently on your face. “But we would both like to bring yours if you’ll allow it.” Bucky said.
“Of course.” You agreed as you looked between them. “Is it strange for you, marrying me when you don’t know me?”
“Oh sweetheart, we have known you a long time. We met before,” Steve said as he ran his thumb along your bottom lip.
You frowned, searching your memory for either of them but nothing came to light. “I’ve never met either of you,” you said. Steve just smirked at you again, shooting you a conspiratorial wink.
“Besides,” Bucky said as he walked to the door, “you were always going to be our wife.” He winked and stepped out into the hallway, Steve close behind him. “Sleep tight.”
You watched them go, Steve’s fingers finding Bucky’s as they walked to their rooms unafraid of being caught out wandering the hallways at night.
You slipped beneath your sheets later after brushing your hair and curled around your pillow. You dreamt of wild wind and hair blowing around your face, of tall men and horses and girls with stubby ponies, and two boys, each holding one of your hands as you tripped through your first few steps outside and away from your mother.
———
The next day you barely had any time for yourself. You woke, stretched under your sheets and smiled at the memory of last night, and of the future to come.
Tomorrow you would be married, married to a pair of men that understood you after only a few days. Oh you realised it wouldn’t all be perfection and roses but somehow you knew that any arguments you had wouldn’t automatically be won by Steve or Bucky just because of their gender.
You spied them several times the day before the wedding, but never got a chance to speak to either of them and your maids were stripping you for bed before you knew it. You were just about to slide in between the sheets when there was a knock at the door. At first you thought they had come back, but then you realised the knock had been too soft. Hilda, one of the servants was shifting nervously from foot to foot outside the door.
“Oh Princess, I’m sorry to disturb you, but I made you a gift see, and I didn’t want to miss you.” She said softly. You noticed white tissue paper in her hands.
“Come in.” You held the door open. Something moved in the shadows, and you leaned out of the room but there was nothing there. Narrowing your eyes, you pulled your body back into the room.
“My sister is a seamstress, and her unmentionables are famous. I help her when I can.” Hilda passed the parcel to you. You set it on the bed and unwrapped it slowly. Inside were the most delicate looking panties you had ever seen, with very little material. There was a nightie too, both a soft pastel colour. You held it up in front of you. Unlike the long ones you were accustomed to this would probably reach the top of your thighs, if that.
A blush covered your cheeks at the thought of your husbands seeing you wearing this.
“I don’t know that it’ll do much good up North,” you flushed as you caressed the material. It was silk too, finely stitched and you guessed a perfect fit.
“I hear they sleep naked and that their beds are warm,” Hilda confessed nudging you in the ribs. Your mother had gotten along famously with Hilda’s, and you loved her for being that friend.
“Wear it tomorrow night. You’ll look beautiful and they’ll love it,” Hilda said with a knowing look in her eye. “North men prefer less material.”
“Thank you.” you said wrapping your arms around the other woman. As you closed the door you looked around your room. It was empty with all your personal things packed away to go north and tomorrow night would probably be your last here.
You got into bed and this time no one rapped the door. You fell asleep wondering what it would feel like to sleep next to the two broad shouldered men who were on your mind more every day.

"Good morning, Your Highness." One of your servants opened the heavy curtains of your bedroom.
"Morning." You groggily rubbed your eyes, slowly sitting up in bed. Your head pounded from the remnants of last night's alcohol. "What's my schedule today?" you asked, wincing as the bright light from the open curtains hit your eyes. Every movement felt like a struggle, your limbs heavy and your mind foggy from the overindulgence.
"We've made sure to clear it until noon because you're not in the best condition." Even the servants were used to your drunken state.
"Perfect." You sighed. With some effort, you got out of bed and started getting ready.
Your head still felt dizzy from last night's drinking. You shouldn't have drunk so much. What had triggered you to drink until blackout was seeing another of your friends getting married. You felt happy for her, but deep down, you were jealous because they could marry without any objections.
But your father is the king. And to make it worse, he's a tyrant king. He controls every aspect of your life, dictating whom you can and cannot love.
As you finished dressing and stepped out of your room, Bucky was waiting for you, as always. His eyes softened with concern as he saw you.
"Headache?" Bucky asked, his voice gentle.
"A little bit." You pinched the bridge of your nose. "I went overboard again last night, didn't I? I'm sorry." You leaned your head against his chest, seeking comfort.
His fingers gently brushed your hair, soothing you. "Don't drink like that anymore," he said, his voice filled with a quiet pain. He hated seeing you hurt yourself like this.
You nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. Then, you took his hands in yours. "Let's go. We can't waste more time."
Bucky followed you, his grip firm yet tender. Walking hand in hand through the hallway was the longest moment you could be together like a real couple. This short walk was your favorite part of the day, a fleeting taste of the life you both wished you could have.
As you moved through the palace, the sun streamed through the tall windows, casting long shadows on the marble floors. The silence between you was filled with unspoken words and shared glances. Bucky's presence was a steady anchor in your tumultuous life, and these stolen moments were your refuge from the storm of royal duties and impossible expectations.
You squeezed his hand a little tighter, silently promising each other that, no matter what, you would always find a way to be together, even if only in these brief, precious moments.
But the moment ended when you entered the dining room. Bucky couldn’t join you; only royalty or invited guests were allowed. He had to stand outside. It was always difficult to let go of his hand.
"You need to eat," Bucky reminded you gently.
"Can’t we eat together?" you whined, a pout forming on your lips.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness." He chuckled lightly.
You rolled your eyes, sighing in defeat. "Fine."
Suddenly, one of the guards interrupted, causing you to release Bucky’s hand. The guard greeted you and announced, "The king has returned."
"Okay," you replied. Then you realized the gravity of the situation and looked at Bucky, "Fuck. Wasn't he supposed to come back next week?"
Bucky immediately switched into professional mode. He spoke through his earpiece, issuing commands, "Prepare for the entrance."
The king had been on a world tour for conferences and the Olympics. While he was away, you had used the opportunity to be close to Bucky. But now, that had to end since your father was back.
After two hours, the entourage and the king arrived. As the princess, you had to welcome him at the grand entrance along with the ministers. While waiting, you kept glancing at Bucky, who stood far to your left. He looked strong and imposing, like a knight straight out of a storybook, his posture radiating vigilance and strength.
The horns blew, signaling the king's arrival.
"King Leonard Damon II has arrived!"
When the announcement was made, everyone bowed. The large doors opened, and the most important figure in the country stepped into the castle.
King Leonard Damon II was a man in his 50s. He looked dignified and confident, his presence commanding respect. His eyes, however, seemed lifeless, devoid of any warmth or feeling. It was understandable; he was known as the tyrant king.
Leonard acknowledged everyone with a curt nod, but his gaze lingered on Bucky for a brief moment before returning to you. It made your heart race.
"Continue with today's agenda," the king commanded as he walked, not pausing for rest despite just arriving.
You felt a sense of foreboding. Glancing at Bucky, you saw your worry reflected in his eyes.
As the king walked past, you couldn't help but feel the tension in the air. His return meant a return to strict protocols and the end of the small freedoms you had enjoyed. Your mind raced with possibilities, wondering what his sudden return would bring.
Bucky stood tall, his eyes following the king while staying alert to potential threats. His presence was a silent reassurance, yet you couldn't shake the unease in your chest. The king's glance at Bucky had been brief, but it carried a weight that made you anxious.
You straightened your posture, preparing to follow the day's agenda, but your thoughts were still with Bucky. You managed a small, reassuring smile in his direction before turning to follow your father.
👑👑👑👑
The meeting primarily involved discussing the results of the king’s world tour. The Veridian Economic Minister, Hugo, who had accompanied the king on the journey, excitedly explained, "Many foreign investors are interested in investing in our beloved country. It will boost the economy significantly."
"They won’t be taxed?" you interjected.
"Ahem, that’s right, Your Highness." Hugo was always startled whenever you spoke up. He glanced nervously at King Leonard, but the king didn't seem to mind his daughter interrupting the presentation.
"That's great," you continued. "But I hope that as Veridian's GDP rises, we will also support the younger generation who want to start their own businesses. We should offer small loans and assistance because they are the future pillars of our country."
As you spoke, everyone listened intently.
"I agree, Your Highness. I see that you've met with young entrepreneurs during our absence," Hugo remarked.
"It's good to see you engaging with them," King Leonard added.
Everyone nodded in agreement. "She’s perfect as the next ruler," Hugo commented.
"She only needs one thing: a spouse," someone interjected. The room filled with murmurs of agreement, but you flinched at the mention.
"I already have candidates in mind," King Leonard announced.
After his declaration, the room fell silent, followed by applause. "That’s wonderful. If it's King Leonard's choice, the person must be the best," the ministers echoed their support.
You sat there, your nails digging into your thighs, looking at your father with a mixture of anger and frustration, your eyes burning with unshed tears.
👑👑👑👑
Everyone left after the meeting was over except you and the king.
You fixed your gaze on Leonard, who appeared unruffled, as he always did in moments of confrontation. His posture was relaxed, almost casual, as he lounged back in his ornate chair, fingers steepled in front of him.
His eyes, cold and calculating, never wavered from your face as if he could read every thought passing through your mind.
"Say it," he commanded, his voice cutting through the tense silence like a knife.
You swallowed hard, feeling the pressure of his gaze bearing down on you. Slowly, deliberately, you spoke, your voice steady despite the turmoil. "I already said that I won’t get married unless it’s Bucky."
A flicker of something unreadable crossed Leonard's face, gone as quickly as it appeared. His lips curled into a half-smile, devoid of warmth or amusement. "Over my dead body," he replied coolly, the threat underlying his words unmistakable.
"Should I take your life first so I can be with the man I love?" you retorted, your voice shaking with emotion.
"My child," he said, leaning back in his chair with a casual air, the leather creaking softly under his weight. He studied you with a cold, almost amused detachment, his fingers lightly drumming on the armrest.
"You’re not a killer like me," he continued, his voice smooth and unyielding.
The word 'killer' sent a shiver down your spine. Because it was true, you were different from him. The reason why King Leonard Damon II was called the tyrant king was because he was a cold-blooded killer.
Leonard had killed his own siblings to secure the throne. He felt no remorse after taking their lives. Not just relatives, but also anyone who objected to him being king. This included the family of the queen, his own wife, your mother.
"Do you hate Bucky because of what happened to my mother?" you asked, your voice trembling.
Leonard fell silent, then hurled his glass of wine across the room. "Never mention that woman."
"There’s no evidence that she ran away with her bodyguard," you insisted. This was the kingdom's biggest secret. Outside the castle walls, everyone believed the queen had died of illness. But the truth was, she was missing. You didn’t know if your mother was alive or dead.
You understood why your mother might have run away from your father. He never acted violently towards her, but his actions against her family made her hate him. She had never wanted to be a queen. One day, she vanished, and her guard also went missing a few days later.
Leonard became obsessed with finding his wife. He spared no expense, sending out the kingdom’s most skilled trackers and investigators to scour the land. Despite their efforts, every lead turned cold, and every trail went nowhere.
You rubbed your forehead, feeling the weight of your family's complex dynamics. "If I’m not married, will you still pass the throne to me?"
The lack of an immediate answer gnawed at you, amplifying the uncertainty of your future. You knew your father’s mind was a labyrinth of ambitions and schemes, where even the most straightforward question could hide layers of strategy. His silence spoke volumes, a testament to his unwillingness to relinquish control or reveal his true intentions.
"Father?" you prompted.
Finally, Leonard spoke, his voice measured and devoid of warmth. "Maybe. Perhaps after 10, 15 years," he said, his tone betraying no hint of reassurance.
You hadn’t expected this. "I should’ve known. You never planned to make me a queen," you said, feeling a surge of despair. Without becoming queen, you couldn’t marry the man you loved.
Leonard's face remained expressionless, his eyes cold and unyielding. The tension in the room was palpable, and you felt a mix of anger and hopelessness. Your dreams of a future with Bucky seemed to slip further away with each passing second.
Your father’s silence spoke volumes. He had always been calculating and ruthless, willing to sacrifice anything and anyone for his own power. The realization that he never intended for you to rule cut deep.
You clenched your fists, trying to steady your breathing. "So, my fate is to remain a pawn in your game?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Leonard stood up, his imposing figure casting a long shadow across the room. "You will do as you are told, for the good of the kingdom," he declared, turning to leave.
As he walked away, you felt a tear slip down your cheek. You were trapped in a gilded cage with no way out. Your love for Bucky seemed destined to remain unfulfilled, crushed under the weight of your father's tyranny.
When Leonard reached the door, he paused and looked back at Bucky, who had been waiting outside. "Remember your place," he said coldly before exiting the room, leaving you alone with your tumultuous thoughts and fears.
Bucky’s grip tightened as he watched the king leave. Once Leonard was out of sight, he rushed to your side. As he entered, his eyes immediately found you already on the ground, knees pressed against the cold stone.
Shock mingled with concern in his eyes as he took in your tear-streaked face, your eyes red and puffy from crying. Seeing you in such distress tore at his soul. He wished he could shield you from the pain, protect you from the harsh realities that surrounded your life.
"Hey," he murmured softly, his voice a soothing balm amidst the chaos. "I'm here." His words were simple but carried a world of comfort and unwavering support. He brushed a strand of hair away from your face, his touch tender and gentle.
Seeing your pain, Bucky's heart ached. What had the king said to you?
Without a word, you collapsed into his arms, your body trembling. He held you close, his strong arms enveloping you in a protective embrace. You buried your face in his shoulder, your sobs muffled against his uniform.
"Oh, Bucky, what should I do?" you cried, your voice breaking.
Bucky gently stroked your hair, his hand moving in soothing circles. "Shh, it's going to be alright," he whispered, though he knew the words felt hollow. His own heart was heavy with the knowledge of the king's cruelty.

Pairing: Farmboy!Bucky X Princess!Reader

Warnings: Violence, Angst, Fluff, Kissing, illusions to smut, nightmares, death,
Word Count: 3.6K
A/n: busting this one out cause I feel like it. I have like 7 parts of this written so I feel like I might as well post it. I’m gonna re-do my master list soon too - but that sounds like a weekend adventure. ANYWHO, hope you enjoy <3
~*~
Adapting to living with a stranger is hard.
Of course, given your upbringing, you’re used to being constantly surrounded by people. What you’re not so used to, is sharing such close living quarters with a man.
You had anticipated he’d be gross and inconsiderate, but he’s quite clean and very kind, always offering you the last bit of food and giving you plenty of space. He’s even gifted you the bedroom, insisting that he wakes up far too early and goes to sleep far too late to require a bed.
He spends most of his days out in the fields, tending to the animals and the crops. On more than one occasion you have found yourself watching him work.
You find yourself entrance by his meticulous movements, the way his muscles ripple beneath the hot sun when he removes his tunic when he thinks you’re not looking. But what has you most interested in him, is his never ending kindness.
As you spend the days regaining your strength and trying to formulate a plan, you can’t help but notice just how kind this man is. From making you meals, to letting you have the first bath, to giving you all the clothes he can find.
His kindness knows no bounds.
It’s a particularly hot day, and he’s been outside in the fields for the majority of it. But now, as the sun begins to set and the wind becomes cooler, he’s left the house for the night.
With a glass of chilled water in hand, you venture outside to find him and gift it to him in thanks for his neverending patience and kindness.
“James?” You call, looking our across the fields then towards the barn further on the property.
You make your way toward the barn, brows furrowed when you hear soft speaking from within.
Immediately you think the worst, one hand grabbing a dagger from its sheath around your waist.
You push the door open, dagger hidden behind your back, but drop your guard when you take in the scene before you.
James is lying down on a makeshift bed of hay, a thin blanket tossed over his legs and a baby goat at his side.
His eyes are wide, lips parted as if he were mid-sentence.
You open and close your mouth a few times, trying to make sense of what you’re seeing.
“Are you all right?” He asks, finally breaking the silence.
“Have you been sleeping here this whole time?”
He nods, not seeming to give it a second thought.
“I have only one bed,” he says simply.
“To which you are entitled to,” you counter immediately.
He only shakes his head, but you copy the action soon after.
“No, this is your home. I am nothing more than an intruder and a bed thief, apparently. I will not allow you to sleep out here another night. You will spend time in your bed as you are the rightful owner!”
He shakes his head, a sad look in his eyes.
“But you’ve lost so much already.”
Your own face softens and you take a step toward him, “so give me this one thing.”
He watches you for a very long moment before huffing out a sigh and pushing himself into a seated position.
He turns to the baby goat at his side and gently pets its head.
“You be good, understand? I will be back in the morning.”
The goat nudges his little head against the brunets hand and bleats softly when the man rises to his feet.
He dusts off his trousers, looking a tad embarrassed, then offers you the gentlest, sweetest smile you’ve ever seen.
“Lead the way,” he murmurs, eyes soft when you smile back at him.
You lead the way back toward his home, pausing to wait for him when he locks up the barn.
When you’re back inside, you finally hand him the glass of water.
His fingers linger on yours for a moment longer than necessary, his eyes piercing through yours and in the moment you feel as if he can see your soul.
“I’ll draw you a bath,” you whisper, desperate to break free from the intensity of his gaze.
He shakes his head but you quirk your brows at him, daring him to refuse.
He watches as you leave to fetch some water, beyond amazed.
After so many years alone, all by himself on the farm, he finally has company.
It terrifies him how much he loves it.
And that company being you makes it all the better.
He hasn't known you long, but in the little time he has he’s come to realize that you’re nothing like any other woman he’s ever met.
You’re strong and firm in your word, yet you have so much capacity for kindness that it amazes him.
He’s reminded of one of the first conversations he had with you, when you mentioned that you had no husband, and for a moment he lets himself dream that he was lucky enough to be that.
He imagines what it would be like to be yours, to be able to call you his.
All his wildest dreams and greatest desires all rolled into one.
He shakes his head, shakes the fantasy from his mind as you re-emerge, a soft smile on your face.
“The water is ready,” you whisper gently, stepping aside to allow him space to pass through.
He steps by you, his firm chest brushing against you for only a moment before he steps into the bathroom.
He pulls the door closed, but the old wood doesn’t shut completely, leaving a crack large enough for you to see through.
You can’t help but watch as he begins to undress, his torso wrapped in thick, tanned muscle from working the fields all day under the hot sun.
For a moment you find yourself wondering what it would feel like to touch his skin, to have your fingers graze the firm muscle on his chest. You quickly shake those thoughts from your head and turn away as he drops his trousers.
You head to the kitchen to make yourself some tea while he bathes, and your mind wanders as you do so.
Your life has changed so drastically in such a short period of time, and you’re not sure how you feel about it.
In a little more than a moon cycle, you’ve lost your family, your home, and your way of life. But you've gained an ally, a friend or perhaps more.
You know not what has become of your home, your family, or Steve, and your heart hurts at the mere thought of them. But beyond the pain is something warm that you’re slightly ashamed of when you think of James.
He’s shown you nothing but kindness and compassion in the brief amount of time that you’ve known him.
You can’t help but wonder if he’ll help you reclaim what’s yours.
To do that, though, you'll need to know what you’re going up against.
In the time that you’ve been here with James, you’ve learned of your exact location and the amount of time it will take to make it back to your kingdom.
You don’t think the man realizes just how close he lives to the border of Aresia, your home. And if he does, he’s somehow blissfully unaware of the war being waged currently.
It would take no more than a day to ride to the forest behind the Aresian Palace, and from there you would be able to navigate your way through the city to find survivors.
Though you could very well do it yourself, having help would make the journey far more bearable and ensure your success.
You’ll need supplies, provisions, and weapons for any surviors you find.
You’ll need to create an army and lead them into battle if you want even a chance at reclaiming your Kingdom.
James’ voice pulls you from your thoughts.
You look up at him as he steps out of the bathroom, his hair wet and his face gentle.
“If I am to sleep on the bed, where will you sleep?” He inquires softly, perplexed at the idea of you sleeping anywhere but a bed.
You only shrug, “I will find somewhere, just as you did.”
He shakes his head and before he has a chance to think about his words, he’s speaking.
“We could... share the bed. Now, I am not saying this to be lewd or forward, mind you. I only suggest so as to save you the trouble of finding another bed or sleeping on the floor. I can promise that my hands will not stray and my eyes will not wander, though if they did I have no doubt you would put them back where they belong. I simply cannot allow you to sleep anywhere but a bed and I insist that-”
You raise a hand to silence him, a soft smile on your lips.
“Thank you, James. For your generosity. I would love to share the bed with you.”
A relieved smile lights up his face like the aurora borealis, and you can’t help but smile back at him.
“Thank you,” he whispers, as if you’re giving him something by taking up half of his space.
Though you’re grateful to have a bed to lie in, you’re a little worried as well.
Nightmares have plagued you since your first night here, and they haven’t exactly been the gentlest. You often wake yourself up thrashing or even crying at times, calling out for those who cannot answer you.
You only hope that you'll sleep more peacefully with him beside you.
~*~
“Princess!”
You look around, searching for the source of the voice.
“Steve?”
“Princess! Where are you?”
You gather the base of your dress and sprint toward his voice, heart racing in your chest at the thought of finally seeing him again.
It’s been so long.
He breaks through the trees bordering the farm, sweat and blood on his brow, but his blue eyes light up when they see you.
“Princess,” he whispers, dropping his sword and running toward you.
You slam into his arms, winding your own arms around his frame and hugging him close to your body.
“I thought I lost you,” you whisper, eyes squeezed shut tightly.
He presses you against himself and kisses the top of your head.
“You won’t find yourself rid of me that easily, your highness,” he whispers, chuckling when you slap his back.
He slowly pulls away to look at you, both hands cupping your cheeks while a gentle smile spreads across his lips.
You smile back up at him, the expression fading when you notice a drop of blood falling down the side of his head.
“You’re hurt,” you murmur, bringing your hand up to inspect the wound on his head.
When you do, you find his hair is soaked with blood, the red staining his blond locks.
“Steve?!” You look at him with wide eyes, taking a step out of his arms as his eyes slowly become more and more red.
“I’m not hurt, Princess.”
You shake your head, “all the blood...”
He gives you a weak smile and steps away, a sword protruding through his chest.
“I’m dead, Princess.”
You jolt awake, tears prickling at your eyes at the intensity of your nightmare.
It’s been near a week since you and James have begun sharing the bed, and tonight is the first time you’ve woken yourself with your nightmare.
“(Y/n)? Are you all right?” James asks softly, turning over on his side to look at you.
You take a few deep breaths and nod, trying to maintain your composure.
“What happened?”
Those two words are all it takes for the floodgates to open and tears to leak from your eyes.
“It... it was so vivd. So... real,” you whisper, staying on your back and staring up at the ceiling.
“It was only a dream, you’re okay. I’m here.”
You nod, sniffling and trying to calm down.
“Do you... do you want to talk about it?” He asks softly, scooting slightly closer to you.
You can feel the heat radiating off of his body and you roll onto your side to face him, snuggling closer to him.
“I think I've lost everyone,” you confess softly, not going any further into detail.
He's surprised at both your proximity and your confession, but slowly wraps an arm around you to hold you close to his body, hoping to comfort you in a way his words cannot.
“I’m here. You haven’t lost everyone,” he murmurs, his chin resting atop your head.
You hum your agreement and relax into his arms the tiniest bit more, fingers toying with a string on his nightshirt as his hand rubs up and down your back, soothing you back to sleep.
When you awake again later on in the morning, James is gone.
You push yourself into a seated position with a soft huff, mind still reeling from the intensity of your nightmare and from the way James was able to comfort you.
Meanwhile, the man himself is locking the animals in the barn and putting everything away.
A storm is rolling in, and by the looks of it, it’s going to be an intense one.
He manages to finished everything and make it back inside just as the first drops are falling from the sky.
“(Y/n)?” He calls, surprised that you’re not in the kitchen pouring over a book or a map the way you normally are.
The sound of water splashing softly clues him in to where you are, and he follows the sound to the source, freezing in his tracks when he catches a glimpse of you through the crack in the door.
He makes a mental note to fix the door, but those thoughts get shoved aside as you rise from the water, naked body on display for his gaze.
He watches as if stuck under a spell as the water droplets race down the curves of your body, tracing a path that he would love to feel or even kiss.
He turns away quickly when you reach for a towel, cursing himself for not giving you more privacy.
He walks into the kitchen and sits down with his head in his hands, the image of your body ingrained behind his lids.
Granted, it has been a while since he’s had the pleasure of a woman’s body before him, but he knows without a shred of doubt that you are the most beautiful creature he’s ever laid his eyes on. Even if it was only for a fraction of a moment.
“James?” Your soft voice calls as you exit the bathroom, confused as to why he’s inside.
He looks up and swallows hard, trying to keep his thoughts pure.
“A storm is coming. I’ve locked the animals up until it passes, and I won’t be able to work the fields until the rain cease and the ground settles.”
You nod, eyes fluttering to the kitchen window. The clouds are dark and angry, and rain pours down from the sky.
“It will likely become cold. I was going to start a fire, if you’d like,” he suggests, rising to his feet and making his way toward the fireplace near the bed.
You nod your agreement.
“I’ll make us some tea, as well.”
When the fire is blazing and the tea is ready, you and James sit at the end of the bed in front of the fire, a tension between the two of you that wasn’t there before.
You’re not sure if it’s because of your nightmare, or the new sleeping arrangements, or if it has anything to do with the eyes you felt while you were getting out of the bathtub earlier.
Whatever is causing the tension has the room electrified.
“I still have not the slightest clue where you are from,” James whispers after a moment of tense silence.
You sigh softly and take a sip of your tea, unsure of how much you should divulge to him.
“I’m from a neighbouring kingdom not far from here. Perhaps a days ride away, maybe more. I... I was forced to flee in order to save my life.”
He looks down, saddened at the fact that you had to go through something so terrible.
“You’ve been through much pain, haven’t you?” He asks softly.
You only shrug, eyes on the flame in front of you.
“From a young age I have been taught that pain is the only way. The only way forward... the only way through. Where I come from, we learn through pain, through pain we grow. Besides death, pain is the only thing we are promised in this life.”
Bucky chuckles softly and shakes his head, “we also grown and learn through love.”
Now it’s your turn to shake your head, your heart hurting as you think about Steve.
“Love is a weakness, nothing more.”
“I beg to differ.”
You turn your gaze to him, eyeing him closely as he sips on his tea, his own eyes trained forward.
“Oh? You are informed on the subject, then?” You inquire quietly, genuinely wanting his take on it.
He shrugs, slowly turning to look at you.
His eyes move from your eyes down to your lips, then back up again slowly.
“I have my theories... my thoughts on the matter.”
You hum, leaning closer with the hopes of hearing more.
“What sort of theories?”
He wets his lips, eyes darkened the tiniest bit.
“I think that... love is something as terrifying as it is beautiful. I think love can be stronger than anything else. Love can heal and love can hurt. It is the best and worst part of humanity. When you love someone, you would go anywhere for them, do anything for them. You would fight the Gods and you would live through Hell if only to make them happy. To love someone is to sacrifice everything you have... everything you are... and when they love you back...” he trails off, the back of his hand brushing against your knee lightly.
“When someone offers you the same level of love... well... then you are indestructible. Together you could take over the world. Overthrow empires and win wars. Because you fuel and power each other. You strengthen each other, and no amount of steel or silver could ever compare.”
You look at him, absolutely intrigued by his take on things.
From a young age you were taught that love was poison. Love would stand in the way between you and success, so love had to be stopped before it could start.
But the way James describes it. Something about it is so beautiful and so terrifying all at the same time.
“Have you... have you ever felt this love?” You ask softly, setting your teacup on the ground and turning your body to face him entirely.
He lets out a soft chuckle and shakes his head, eyes slowly raising to yours.
“If you would’ve asked me two moons ago, I would’ve said no. Now, though... now I’m not so sure.”
You swallow hard and lean closer to him, breaths becoming heavier as the atmosphere changes.
“What has changed to cause this?” You question, though you think you know the answer.
He lets out a breathy chuckle, one hand coming up to brush his thumb lightly against your cheek.
“I stumbled upon someone in the woods... at first I thought her a dream... something far too good to be true. Yet here she is, sitting before me.”
You let out a shaky breath, leaning your cheek into his hand and allowing him to guide your face closer to his.
You can feel his soft breath upon your lips, his own lips a breath away.
He waits, not wanting to push your boundaries, but when you utter a soft ‘please’ he’s leaning forward to connect your lips.
He isn't your first kiss, but he’s certainly the most passionate while simultaneously being the softest.
His lips are soft and slightly chapped, moving gently against your own, just testing the waters.
When you lean forward, one hand sliding through his hair, he becomes a bit more assertive.
The hand that isn’t on your face moves to your waist, holding you gently and pulling you closer all at the same time.
You melt into him, getting lost in the feeling of his hands on your body and his lips on yours.
He slowly pulls away, a small smile stretching across his face when you chase after the feeling of his lips.
“Is this okay?” He asks softly, his hand moving slowly lower. From your waist to your hip then down your thigh.
“Better than okay,” you whisper breathlessly, leaning your forehead against his.
He sighs, pressing a soft kiss to your lips once more then pulling back to look at you.
“I do not wish to have you only physically,” he confesses quietly, his eyes so full of vulnerability.
You bring your hands to his chest, thumbs smoothing over the bit of exposed skin where his top button has come undone.
“In what way do you want me?”
He chuckles gently, “in any way you’ll allow me.”
You smile and take his hand, brining it to your lips and kissing his fingertips.
“And so you shall have me.”

A/N: me no beta
“Princess, walking around so high and mighty like I don’t know your secret,” the Sith purred, walking around your strapped frame. You shook your head and protested, “I have nothing to hide, I’ve told you this! Let me go immediately!” His heavy frame leaned against the cold durasteel of the table, clicking his tongue under that dark mask, sickly eyes penetrating you.
He cocked his head and growled, “Don’t make me force it out of you, Princess.” Your lips trembled as you blubbered, “My lord, Darth Wintrys, please! I am innocent!” He shrugged and a cold hand crawled up your skirt, leaving a trail of a goosebumps in it’s wake. You yelped when the Sith’s fingers swiped across your wet slit.
He pulled back and let your eyes catch the shine of your essence on his forefingers, his eyes mirthful at your agony. Wintrys hummed, “I was going to poke around in your head but…seems another method will work.” You whimpered when the brunette suckled on your slick, groaning around it.
You couldn’t decide whether you wanted him to fuck you or just wither away and die. Everything was going too quickly, you needed to think of a plan. You begged, “My lord, take the straps off, p-please? They hurt.” His gaze softened ever-so-slightly, pressing a button on the side of the table. Before you could even begin to move again, thick thighs straddled your hips, yellow eyes boring down.
You whined through your nose, tears leaking down your flushing cheeks. He swiped them away with a noise of false concern, cooing, “I undid the straps, come now princess.” His thick thighs spread yours apart all too easily, shoving up the material of your dress with careless hands.
You couldn’t snap them shut with his kind of strength.
He hummed, “Do you never bother to wear undergarments or is it just around me?” You squirmed and huffed underneath Wintrys, him coming to lay on top of you. You pulled at his mask, as a last sort of jab, the black cover coming undone with loud snaps. He gasped and flinched in surprise, a hand shoving your wrist to the table.
A surprisingly delicate nose, sharp cheeks, and soft lips were bared to you. He snarled, “Like what you see?” The Sith seemed embarrassed, like his visage was something horrid. You snapped, “What mind games are you playing now?” He grunted and grabbed your other wrist, staring you down.
“What are you talking about princess?”
This had to be a dream. You struggled against him and swore, “Because you look like a kriffing holo model, not a lord of the Sith!” The brunette’s eyes flickered slightly, yellow-blue-orange. He narrowed the changing orbs and hissed, “You’re lying…trying to get out of this!”
There it was. That underlying confusion, self-hatred, lack of confidence. If he was going to be dark, so could you. Make him feel like prey for once. You wrapped your legs around his waist and pressed against the toned bulk of his body. With a laugh you retorted, “Seriously? The emperor tell his protégé that he’s got the face of a Hutt?,” grinning you continued, “Oh honey, he’s lying to you.”
The Sith whimpered, actually whimpered. Poor thing looked like a kicked puppy if it weren’t for the thick cock pulsing between your thighs. He halfheartedly chided, “Why are you lying? I can…tell if you’re lying.” You wanted to roll your eyes but Wintrys was having a crisis of sorts.
Pathetic.
You rolled your hips against his own and sneered, “Big bad not so bad anymore huh? Pouting with those slutty lips of yours.” The brunette throbbed against your own wet cunt, the power going to your head at the sight of your ‘babysitter’ going to pieces over being called pretty. He grit out, “Stop it.”
You cooed, “Why should I? I bet you’d make a pretty crier my lord. Sorry they were mean to you, called you ugly. Why don’t you let me make it better, hm? Ease your mind on whether I’m loyal to the Empire or not.”
Wintrys bit down on his full lower lip, groaning throatily. He pressed his forehead to your shoulder, hissing, “What the fuck are you doing to me?” You wrapped your arms around his wide shoulders, grinning. Even the worst of men were so easy to manipulate.
You rolled your hips against his cock again, rasping into his dark hair, “I’m trying to fuck you Lord Wintrys, isn’t that what you were planning?” He made a strangled noise, metal fingers scrabbling against the durasteel table. You asked, “Isn’t that right? Or were you going to back off last minute?”
He panted against your shoulder, body tighter than a rubber band about to snap. Wintrys whispered, muffled by your body, “I- I’m not…supposed to.” You curled your fingers around his dark locks in a facsimile of warmth. Poor little Sith was a virgin too. The Emperor really fucked his right fist good in the head.
Wintrys looked up, eyes a beautiful blue. They were intense under his furrowed brow, lips almost bared in a snarl. You hissed, “Quit fighting your instincts and fuck me like you said you would. Take the little princess by force, yeah?” You were clenching around nothing, this power play of sorts making your head spin.
Wintrys hauled up onto his haunches, tearing his cloak off with a grunt. Mismatched hands pulled at his belt, slinging that off next. You watched with a smirk on your face, hiking your dress up further. While he unzipped and unlatched you idly played with your swollen cunt, purring, “So in that game you played earlier, you’d never even touched a pussy?,” you laughed, “You played it well too, sucking on it and everything.”
The Sith snapped, “Shut up for force’s sake, I’m pulling my cock out!” His flushed cheeks and cracking tone betrayed his attempt to retake the situation. You dipped your fingers into your soaked entrance, exhaling on a sigh, watching him intently. Wintrys groaned lowly when he released his cock. It was flushed and looked fucking heavy. You groaned, “I see why he doesn’t let you use that thing.”
The Sith was silent as he crawled back over your form, face set in determination. He grabbed his cock and set it at your pussy, easing it in with a sharp inhale. His pupils blew and the brunette stuttered on his next few breaths. You spread open wider for him, hands placed on thick shoulders.
You cried out when he shoved the rest of the way in grunting in shock. His darkened blues flicked towards your lips but he settled his head next to your own, one arm on your hip and the other on the durasteel. Cruelly so close yet far away.
“I’m going to fff-fuck you now,” he rasped.
“Yeah, yeah, c’mon,” you chanted.
He was brutal, fucking like everything else he did— aggressive and rage-filled. Slaps echoed in the room as his balls, hips, and thighs hit you repeatedly. He didn’t kiss or grope. Simply fucked the everloving shit out of you. You cried out, digging into his traps as you moaned and squirmed.
His cock rammed you wide open, dragging across spots you didn’t know existed. The sheer force made up for the lack of finesse. You slid a wildly shaky hand down to your clit, swirling at the bundle. Wintrys spat, “Kriffing- kark- oh you’re a fucking witch.”
“Goddamn Corellian witch- slut- hngh fuck!”
He rolled back onto his knees easily, dragging your limp body along with him. The Sith’s eyes were shut tight, his bottom lip trapped under white teeth. That Beskar arm of his was twitching and digging deep into your hip. You could tell he was holding off on cumming.
Meanwhile you were moaning and crying in ecstasy, thighs quivering from his thick ass dick assaulting you. Your fingers could barely even move to fuck with your clit but you were way past that point. You groaned, “Yeah- fuck me like that, good boy, gonna make a princess cum!” Wintrys let out an agonized noise, shoving himself as deep as possible.
Your back arched painfully as you rose to the peak. One of your hands slapped down on his thigh, digging your nails into the muscle. With weak whimpers you convulsed around him, cunt soaking him further. It was a lurid cacophony of noises. You whimpered, “Yesyesyes!” A stray tear leaked from your eye when he didn’t stop.
That cock keeping you stretched wide and the brunette was making low wounded moans as he battered through and through. You tried to shy away from overstimulation, crying out in half-pain. He held tighter and twitched some, eyes falling open with a gasp.
He pulled out quickly, beskar hand pulling his cock while it painted your cunt and dress with thick ropes of cum. The Sith whined through his nose, body trembling as he shivered. You simpered, “Full huh my lord?” He groaned, giving himself a few more tugs, finishing with a soft whimper of some unintelligible word.
You drew away from him, that post orgasmic haze getting yanked back. He blinked dumbly and asked, “W-where’ya goin?” You threw down your ruined dress over shaking legs and stated, “I hope you got the intel you needed. I sure learned a lot.” You stepped past him and entered the code to leave. He thought he could keep you in here, that’s why you had codes sent to you every week.
“Don’t go yet, wait,” he begged. Blue eyes turned to you. You frowned at his handsome face and chided, “You came in here to assault me. Maybe you should think about. Alone, Darth.” He looked like he was going to cry as the door hissed shut. You felt strangely empty on your limp back to your quarters.
What do his lips feel like?
He’s fucked up and you twisted the already neck deep screw.
His eyes, they were blue.
Where the fuck do you go from here?

Pairing: Modern Knight!Bucky Barnes x Princess!Female Reader AU Summary: You're a princess in love with your knight. Will the two of you get your happily ever after? Bucky knew from a young age that he wanted to be a knight. It wasn’t just a position of bravery, but one of honor. His father reminded him of that many times throughout his life. Fighting alongside his friends, he served and protected the kingdom with everything he had. Even at the cost of losing his left arm.
It was his resilience that caught the King's attention.
"Will you serve and protect her Royal Highness of Brooklyn?"
"With my life, your majesty."
Everyone knew of the princess of Brooklyn. Beyond your beauty, you exude warmth and generosity to the masses. You preferred working with the people and charities over going to galas. Your charm and wit won everyone over.
Especially him.
He half expected you to throw a fit when your father assigned him to be your bodyguard. Not because you were spoiled, but because you didn't get to choose him yourself. Instead, you welcomed him with kindness.
And he quickly fell in love.
“Am I decent?” you asked once you came out of the bathroom, smiling over at where he stood in the corner.
Free of your robe, you wore a knee-length navy blue dress with a pair of heels to match. While you likely chose the outfit for modesty, it hugged the curves of your body and he longed to remove it so he could see the hidden treasure underneath. He had to clear his throat as his stare lingered a second too long.
The way it always did.
While knights today didn’t have to swear to chastity or celibacy, he wasn’t meant to lust after the one person he was sworn to protect.
I'm not meant to love you either, but how can I not?
"You look beautiful," he said truthfully. "You always do."
You looked down as you smoothed out the fabric with both hands. "You're just being nice," you teased.
"No, princess," he said, straightening up as he walked over to you in a few strides. He placed a finger under your chin when you didn't lift your head, making you look at him. "When I say you look beautiful, I mean it."
"Thank you, Bucky," you whispered.
The people of Brooklyn looked at you with adoration, but you looked at him like he hung the moon and the stars in the sky for you. Your smile was like giving him the sun. He wondered if you realized how many different smiles you wore for your family, friends, other royal members, and the public.
And the one you wore just for him.
But it doesn't mean you love me, does it? You simply trust me because I'm your knight and confidant.
"And you do not lower your eyes to anyone," he added before he could dwell on his thoughts, dropping his hand to his side.
"I thought that's what good girls did," you grinned as you spun away from him and glanced over your shoulder. "Or am I only supposed to be good for you?"
If I had my way, I'd show you just how good you can be for me.
"If I didn't know any better, princess," he said, moving in front of you before you could grab the door handle to open it. "I'd say you were teasing me."
"Maybe I am," your grin widened as you brushed your fingertips along his arm. The light touch had his blood rushing faster in his veins and he fought to keep from shoving you against the door and claiming you as his. "Maybe I'm preparing you for the wedding reception."
"You think I won't put you over my knee if you tease me?" he threatened, his darkened gaze dropping fast enough to see your chest rise when you inhaled. He was certain if he put his hand on your chest, he'd feel your heart race faster.
"You wouldn't, good sir," you said, lifting your head defiantly.
Fuck, how am I supposed to get through this when all I want to do is ruin and cherish you?
"Try me, princess," he whispered as he took one step closer.
He did his best not to stare too deeply into your eyes. It was bad enough how gone he was for you. He also didn't know if the glances, the teasing, any of it was because you cared about him or if you were merely comfortable with him. If you had any idea how he felt, you wouldn't toy with his feelings.
You weren't cruel.
"If you ever put me over your knee, it will only be done with my permission," you said after a moment, rushing out the door with a giggle as he went after you.
"It isn't proper for a princess to run," he called after you as you skidded to a stop along the marble floor and fixed your posture.
"And who's to say what's proper?" you asked as you began to gracefully walk. "Don't think I won't put a codfish on your head."
He hid his smile as he caught up in a few strides, taking his place beside you.
I wish I could take your hand in mine.
There were many who didn’t understand why Bucky would risk his life for someone else simply because of their bloodline or the name tied to them. If any of those people truly knew you, they’d beg to be where he stood. He almost suggested once that Steve should be your personal guard instead when he realized how deeply he cared for you, but he couldn't bear the thought of someone else taking his place. Any knight would watch over you, of course, but would they show you the same care that he did?
Would you trust them the way you trust him?
You stopped outside of your father's study and straightened your dress and exhaled slowly. He understood your nerves. When you had your heart set on something, you wanted it. He prayed they accepted that you wanted him to be your date.
The guard at the door opened it once you nodded. This was one room your parents didn't permit many to enter, outside of family, guards, and anyone cleaning. Your mother sat on one of the ornate sofas, finishing a cup of tea, while your father sat at his desk and looked over his paper. Like when they sat on their thrones, they displayed power and pride.
The only other person in the room was Erma, an older palace worker who had been there long before you were born. She loved you like a granddaughter. Bucky respected her for that and more.
"There you are. We were beginning to wonder if you snuck out for the day," your mother said as she set her cup down and stood to embrace you, giving Bucky a chance to take his place in front of the bookshelf after he bowed. "Would you like some tea?"
"No, thank you," you said, smiling over at Erma as she came over to clear the tea. "Good morning. How are you?"
"Very well, your highness. Sir James," Erma curtsied, even after you told her many times she didn't have to greet you so formally.
"My dear, would you stop looking at that and greet your daughter?" your mom asked.
"I'm seconds away from tearing this to shreds," your dad grumbled as he shoved the paper away. His eyes warmed as he glanced up to look at you. "I'm sorry."
"I didn't mean to disturb you," you said as your mother sat back down, gesturing for you to do the same. "I just wanted to finally tell you who I'm bringing as my plus one to the upcoming wedding. I think I kept you waiting long enough."
Bucky noticed that Erma slowed her cleaning, delaying it so she could listen. She kept the palace tidy and her team in line, but he knew she also observed her surroundings. He didn't fault her for that.
"That isn't a disturbance at all," your father smiled. "Who have you chosen?"
"Sir James," you smiled back.
No one said a word at your declaration. Erma carefully set the teapot on the tray and bowed her head. Your mom didn't look in Bucky's direction, but focused instead on your father.
"Dad? Did you hear me?" you asked.
The king's smile didn't disappear quickly. It faded slowly as he narrowed his eyes and turned his gaze to Bucky. He looked back at the man, not defiantly, but with confidence. The knight wasn't easy to intimidate, far from it, and he was larger than your father. But up against the will of a man with a precious daughter? Would he lose?
Worth losing my other arm if I have to fight.
"You're bringing your knight?" your dad asked, his voice calm as he looked at you. "Explain, please."
"What's there to explain?" you asked, keeping your hands folded on your lap. "My knight is best suited to escort me, especially since he'll be in close proximity to keep an eye on me."
Your mother nodded slowly. "That's true."
"And there's nothing that says I have to bring a prince," you continued. "I asked Sir James and he said 'yes'."
"Did he?" The king swung his gaze back to Bucky.
"He did, your majesty," he answered, even though he didn't direct the question at him.
"To be honest," your father began, sitting back in his chair as he considered his next words. "I thought you might accept the offer from Prince Nicholas. At least, I hoped you would."
Bucky clenched his teeth when your shoulders sagged, but stayed silent. If your dad wanted you to go with Nick, it meant that he wanted something from him. You were a princess, not a pawn.
Or maybe he thinks I'm not good enough to be on your arm.
"I don't want to go with Prince Nicholas," you told your parents, giving each of them a pleading look. "I'm choosing to bring Sir James. This is my choice. I don't need your permission."
Bucky almost went to your side when he caught the wobble in your voice. He wasn't worth getting upset over. He was proud, however, that you stood by your conviction.
And stood by him.
"It is her choice. We discussed that, my dear. You need to respect her decision," the queen said, holding up her hand before her husband could argue. If anyone knew how to put the king in his place, it was her. "I think Sir James is a fine choice. We'll arrange for our tailor to have a suit made."
You lit up like you were going to shout with joy before you cleared your throat and nodded. "Thank you, mom."
"Of course," she said, shifting so she could face Bucky. "You will keep her safe."
If it was possible, her gaze was more intimidating than the King's glare.
"My duty is to serve and protect the princess and you have my word that I will do so, your majesty."
He dared to look away from the queen and saw you smile at him.
I would do anything for you, my princess.
Bucky caught Erma slyly smiling as she excused herself from the room. Though she likely never heard him voice his feelings about you, as he was careful to only tell Steve in secret, she saw how he looked at you. She saw through him.
She also hadn't spoken to your parents about her suspicions, which meant she approved.
"Very good," the queen said, waving a hand toward the door. "Go. You have a busy day ahead of you."
You went to each of your parents and kissed their cheeks, quietly thanking them again. Your relief made Bucky relax. You may not need their permission to take him, but you didn't want to disappoint them.
"Sir James?" your dad spoke before either of you could exit the room. "Please know I meant no offense by my reaction. You're a good man and I know you'll take care of my daughter."
"Thank you, your majesty," Bucky said, bowing before you slipped your arm through his to pull him away.
Your dad might consider him a good man, but the look on his face said this discussion was far from over.
That went well, didn't it? Love and thanks for reading! 💙
