had load of fun working on these and i’m quite happy with how it turned out <3

Myrtle

- i wanted her to have this bright, palette that would grab one’s attention.

- based her on the 1974 movie Myrtle and while i haven’t seen it (yet) i did like her fit there better in terms of adapting it for character design. it seemed to have more personality.

- some dress layers to show how she tries to be high class. layers = this illusion. but yk inequality and all, so it’s still just a dress and not much has changed

- curling fur/hair for that energetic and a bit femme-fatal feel to her

- even made her whiskers curly to convey that better

- chose a calico cat since it adds to the palette i was aiming for while providing a new colour + calico cats are stereotyped to be quite sassy so yeah

- rounded by narrowed eyes + blue eye shadow => link to Daisy with her round blue eyes. Myrtle wanted Tom to choose her.

- shortest character btw

- Tabby which links him to Tom’s design (Myrtle has a type lol)

- expanding on point above, i really wanted the viewer to think that if you had placed him in a fancy suit he’d probably be better than Tom, but alas capitalism and inequality

- anyway, his fit is based on the 2013 film one. really wanted that contrast between the light shirt and the brown fur, so that the blue (fuck idk how this piece of cloth is in english fucckkkk) wouldn’t blend with the brown tone-wise.

- + blue kinda compliments the brown, so we have some hue contrast going on

- oh yeah, he gets more colour than Tom because fuck Tom

- ruffled, messy fur cuz he actually has work to do (unlike others) + scar on nose from work as well as the plaster on arm(/paw?)

Tom

- fuck this man. i took all of his colours and made him pretty desaturated! why? hes a pretentious guy who thinks that high class will absolve him of his wrongdoings. a very bland belief hence he gets no colours >:(

- liked the mustache from the 1974 film, so here it is! whisker follow direction of mustache to emphasize it

- very orange eyes to emphasize the potential for his outbursts + they’re sharp cuz that mf is finding out stuff on Jay

- also groomed spiky fur for same reasons as above

- ring on right paw!

- made him an american short hair cuz ik he’d kill himself if he was anything else /j

Daisy

- i wonder where the green colour palette came from 👀 (green light. shocker!)

- was contemplating whether to give her that fur on her shoulders but since i saw that insane picture of a ragdoll cat that screamed Daisy I NEEDED TO KEEP THE FLUFF OKAY????

- based on 2013 movie (i really liked the head piece)

- throw in some tint of yellow at the bottom of the dress for that link with death symbolism <3

- round(ed) forms of fur + eyes cuz she appears innocent and wants to be seen that way!! the “i hope she’ll be a fool” thing” iykyk

- the classic pink suit seen in so many mediums and media

- rounded diamond like eyes cuz yk while he’s this gentleman, the narrowed eyes do imply that he’s being sneaky about something (oh got his past)

- linking to trying to hide things: high collar!

- torn ear + scar on paw + twisted whiskers from war. (i will forever be annoying about how S. Fitzgerald missed this topic COMPLETELY if not outright wrongly represented it through like one line)

- kinda the 2013 based (i didn’t like the hair being like gelled backwards/neatly styled so here it’s more wavy like that)

- joined fur => tried to imply that softness it would have to show that this guy’s pretty naïve with his obsession over his dream

- taller than Tom (important)

- didn’t give him any specific cat breed but i was looking at a bunch of fawn colored cats for this one. the pictures ranged from elegant to silly, so that, i thought, is fitting

Nick

- what if i told you he’s the second shortest here? (SHORT KING!!!!!)

- but to elaborate this guy has been witnessing everything in the book, so idk short height implies the sneakiness

- the idea for clothing: i kinda borrowed from that wiki page pic on him with the still from 1923 movie. I reallyyyyy liked the hat and the implied light palette of the suit

- speaking of palettes, a tint of green because i’m funny like that

- but also cuz it went well with the palette for the fur i established prior

- the fur thing was crazy to think of. first i thought that he might have some burmese cat energy but then i started on that colour and didn’t like it, so it kinda morphed into my cat’s fur colour but lighter (my cat is my pfp). and yk what? this process makes sense since i believe we don’t get anything at all on his appearance from the book.

- anyway rounded face cuz he tries to appear like unbiased hence tries to look pleasant

- but messy tail tip and pointy ears cuz he does have that bias

- scar + torn ear on brow from war (again, i’m annoyed with Fitzgerald)

- siamese cat. i always associated her with a siamese cat

- big/long ears for the fact that she’s very aware of what’s happening in her surroundings! + narrowed eyes since she’s suspicious of ppl (like Jay) + perked up whiskers as she’s paying attention

- gets gold/yellow elements for that entire metaphor she made about being a bad driver (i would explain my interpretation of this metaphor but these are design notes)

- kind of layered dress. she is quite honest yet she doesn’t fully disclose things. she knows her way around this society

- zig zag tail. again, knows how to maneuver herself in this society, which gives her the independence she has

- blue palette of dress stands out against warmer tones of fur; suggestion of this being something that she barely wears on day-to-day basis

when i saw this ask and the quetsion if phantom is my oc i knew i have made it as a blorbo obssesed maniac. spoilers for both the phantom ninja comic and way of the departed ahead! also this is going to be very long, so strap in for the ride ;) The Phantom Ninja (Seliel) is a character from the 2014 rebooted era comic "who is the phantom ninja?" that came out on may 20th if i remember correctly - so they are not my oc lmao they are an actual canon (well. i will get to that later, all the points with that i will mark with a * symbol) character! i actually own this comic myself!!

im gonna try my best not to just sum up this comic but i have a tendency to do so when i am told to talk about things... the main focus of the comic is basically all the ninja (including nya and excluding lloyd for some fucking reason*) are in an unspecified location near a small town called Nom, that has been taken over by nindroids. at this point in the series the ninja know that the evil overlord is planning something but they arent sure what* (this comic takes place between the episodes into the digiverse and codename arcturus*), so because the town has so many nindroids in it, they (well, cole, mostly) believe that Nom may be the center of opporation for the evil guys.

in Nom they quickly realize that the nindroids have taken over the town and forced the people to work at a factory to create more nindroid parts. throughout the comic they try to stop the nindroids, and help the people of nom escape, but a strange warrior always makes their mission more and more difficult...

THE PHANTOM NINJA! he always appears from a cloud of smoke and targets nindroids, not the ninja at first. when they first interact zane mentioned how he seems to be very skilled as it is not easy to take quickly take down a nindroid (just like the phantom ninja does). the phantom is ANNOYING AS FUCK. EVERYONE IS SICK OF HIM. he is this "super mysterious skilled warrior" that after the ninja try to stop him from hurting an innocent man because he thought he was a nindroid, the ninja know that "he will either be a great friend or a powerful enemy" (im paraprasing from zane here). he seems very self-centered and thinks very highly of himself and his abilities, and is always on some "the nindroids must taste my revenge" type shit. like i cannot stress enough how big of an ego this guy has. you just gotta read this for yourself (im gonna put a link to the comic down below btw!) all the ninja throughout the comic try to figure out who this motherfucker is whilst also trying to take down the nindroids from the town, mostly because they believe that nom might be the new base of opperation for the overlord*. something important to note here is that in the first few seasons, ESPECIALLY in books and comics and stuff like that, cole was always the leader. he was not potrayed really as such in the show, but all the other media for ninjago always shows him as one. with that said, cole probablly has the most stuff in this comic (but i must say all the ninja get their respective time to shine). he mostly tries to figure out who the hell this piece of shit is, because he keeps his identity hidden quite well. cole is the one planning all the stuff. well, after the whole comic of trying to somehow balance fighting the nindroids and getting rid of this guy, cole comes up with an idea based of a short converation they all had with a local girl. the nindroids have captured the mayor of the town and his daughter, seliel, and they keep them hostage at the factory to disencourage the people from trying to escape. cole decides to go there at night and he sees the phantom ninja crawling out of the vents! and when he snatches his mask off..

turns out... this story is connected to ANOTHER ninjago media (this time a book), "cole, ninja of earth" i think it was called, that takes place in the pilots, but i dont remember exactly how it went as i read it a loong time ago so some things might be wrong here. basically the ninja team is freshly formed and cole, jay, zane and kai try to team up to get rid of some skeletons in an undesclosed location (well, turns out its near nom). NO ONE other then cole wants to cooperate and cole, being the leader and because sensei wu isnt there, gets frustatred, AND STAGES HIS OWN DEATH AND DRESSES UP AS A "PHANTOM NINJA" TO TEACH THEM A LESSON TO FUCKING COOPERATE. YEAH. IM NOT MAKING THAT SHIT UP. (though that book does have another phantom ninja but we dont talk about that. thats just some rando.) apparently seliel somehow learned of that and cole inspired her to become a ninja. and when nindroids took over nom a week before, when night felt, she would turn into the phantom ninja to fight them off! and she is GREAT at it. butttt her and cole fight like dogs here (she literally throws him across a rooftop, my girls got some strenght) and only after some time has passed she agrees to help him and the ninja get rid of the nindroids. so they do that using the power of friendship ugh i mean. cooperation and teamwork! after getting rid of the nindroids, cole realizes that this was all a set-up from the overlord to try to keep them busy so that he could work on his master plan of project artcurus. cole and seliel come to an agreenment and the ninja leave nom on good terms with the phantom. I LOVE THIS COMIC. the phantom is a suprisingly well written character and anti-hero, i LOVE LOVE LOVE how much of a piece of shit he is, he is so full of himself its so fucking funny. he has a great dynamic with all the ninja, especially cole, they fight and fight, everyone else is super done with him, their teeth start gridning just at the thought of this motherfucker showing up. also my headcanon of genderfluid and transmasc seliel comes from the fact that before it is revealed who the phantom ninja is, everyone uses he/him to desrcibe him and phantom doesnt mind, though that mind have been to simply keep anonimity, and when cole righout shouts to seliel "youre a girl!" seliel gets really upset. she is much more then just a girl and she is not only a girl. i also obviosely love that seliel is not treated like a love interest for cole in this comic. though... she was treated so by the fandom. yeah. when this comic came out sooo many people simply threw phantoms arc right into the trash and used seliel to ship her with cole because ohhh pretty girl interacted with single boy they must be in love!!! TOTALLY IGNORING THE FACT THAT THEY WERE AT EACHOTHERS THROATS THE ENTIRE COMIC. but that was in 2014 so i forgive everyone who shipped coliel, we are all wrong sometimes, and thats also why i have the coliel tag blocked, because even though i might see something once in a century, i dont like it. (also you might have noticed that even though i reffered to seliel as genderfluid transmasc i use he/him for the phantom and she/her for seliel - this is just for simplicity and clarity) but even though this comic was phantoms debut, seliel showed up in something else later! firstly:

in the 70596 set "samurai x cave chaos", which is a big set with i believe 1000 pieces in it, there is a reference to the phantom! this set was from the day of the departed wave, coming out in 2016 alongside the special, two years after phantoms comic. it of course depicts a non-canon scene from the samurai x cave, where on one of the computer screens you might be able to spot...

THE PHANTOM NINJA! seliel was included in this set as a little sticker and little easter egg for those who recognise him! well, it got a tiny bit of fandom excited that seliel will finally be made canon* and will show up in season 7, but of course... it did not happen... broken heart emoji. well, now to seliels second appearance...

WAY OF THE DEPARTED! for those who dont know: Way Of The Departed is a could-be-canon* "fanfic" created by Tommy Andreasen (one of the creators of ninjago) that started in october of 2017 and is still ongoing today! it takes place between season 7 and season 8 of ninjago and is focused on the one and only cole<3. its an explenation of what happened to his ghostly scar! im gonna try my absolute fucking best not to summorize the entirety of wotd but i love it so much. GO READ IT! ITS AVAILABLE ENTIRELY ON THE WIKI! basically... cole scar is weird. the ninja live in the temple of airjitsu now and the ghost of sensei yang inhabits it! its his and coles little secret. cole suffers because of his scar, it gives him head-splitting migraines, it awakens his sleep. he cant live like this. yang tells him that there might be someone in a small town called nom that might help him.... cole thinks that the name of that town seems oddly familiar, but doesnt think much of it. he packs and goes there, he cannot bear this pain any longer. when he gets there, he is attackted by someone. a masked warrior who dove onto him from a cloud of smoke, wielding two shiny katanas... ITS PHANTOM! they are both so happy to see eachother! old friends who have not met since forever! seliel is lowkey suprised that cole is alive, last she heard of him was that he was "departed" which she assumed to simply mean dead, not in the sense that he got turned into a ghost. both of them talk and share their experiences, they missed eachother. its so sweet. seliel plays a pretty big part in wotd !!! she is coles main emotional support in everything he goes through in this fic (which is. SO MUCH OH MY GOD). they have such a sweet relationship. even though they bickered in who is the phantom ninja they reconsiled after all of that (like i mentioned) and are now friends... ugh... they make me sick... seliel worries about cole but she is still her usual a little self-centered self, tommy did an absolutely amazing job with her characterization, because even though years have passed at this point, she still retains her personality even though she has changed and grown more understanding and less cocky. AND! PHANTOM IS ALSO ON THREE OF THE CHAPTER COVERS !!!!!

i dont really like the first one because of the face but i cannot be picky bro these are literally the only instances of her ever. I ADORE THE SECOND AND THIRD ONE. THEY ARE SO GOOD.

theres so much seliel in way of the departed i was literally doing backflips as i read it. SO YOU SHOULD GO READ IT! NOT ONLY FOR HER BUT FOR COLE ALSO. ITS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

SPOILERS FOR THE SPRINGTIME SALUTATIONS UPDATE!! (first post btw)

So people have made a great deal of work on both the latest update AND my girl Julie, all of which is well and good, but a detail that I noticed about my favorite neighbor has gone completely unmentioned here. (either that, or people haven't been tagging "#julie joyful" when they did, since that's where i've been looking.)

Here, Julie's sister Franny points out "the bigger" a rainbow monster's horns are, "the better". Despite wanting to give the full picture on rainbow monsters, neither her nor any of the Joyfuls explain how bigger horns are a good thing. However, as we know, Julie has been BEYOND struggling with making a very specific flower bloom, even though it's her job to make ALL flowers bloom for spring.

Pretty much everyone I've seen on here has tried to explain why it won't bloom with a mixture of biology & symbolism, with any theories that source Julie as the problem, believing it to have something with her psyche. However, this is where i think the horn's have a role to play: maybe they help the monster do whatever their springtime role is depending on how large they are. And in case you still haven't noticed: Julie has the shortest horns of the four of them, and by a lot. Without context, one would probably thing they were some sort of cosmetic she wears on her head; they're THAT underdeveloped.

this is where i hope you guys can come in, since i'm not actually so sure this has anything to do with that one flower; i'm actually of the opinion that something is VERY wrong with the flower itself. But even then, I'm tired of people ignoring this fact, since it obviously has at least SOME implication that need to be considered when analyzing Julie. I keep getting ideas of malnourishment or inherent weakness that I BARELY see so much as thought of, and i needed to point this out while the investigation is young.

BTW, Shoutout to @sillylittlewitchling for noticing a similar difference between Julie and her sibling, even if they talked much less about THAT than i did THIS. I'm just very passionate about my girl finally getting both the spotlight (way more so than i thought) & some character development. So for her & the ARG's sake: Do NOT look over stuff like this!

GABRIEL: Greetings! I'm Jim! It's short for James, but I don't need to keep telling everyone that. I'm an assistant book seller.

I'm sorry. Before I do anything else, I need to apologize for something I need to write further in. I didn't plan to write it, I just kind of bumped into it and, well, I can't ignore it. So...sorry. It's said. Forgive me for what needs to be done.

Although he arrived with nothing but a cardboard box and Rodney the Stunt Fly, Aziraphale made sure Jim was clothed in appropriate raiment while under his protection. We'll forgive him that he took a step back about, oh, fifty years or so to the 1970's, as Jim's overall look is a nod to the famous old sitcom "Open All Hours." So if he looks a little bit out of place, or, a little bit familiar, even, that's why.

While we are used to seeing angels in overcoats, it's Jim's vest that is the particular feature here. But I will take a moment to comment on the overcoat - not just the colour but its lapels. Aziraphale has obviously given him a colour with an earthly connection and one that indicate that he has bought Jim under his protection, but the lapels look quite neutral, with one up and one down. (Muriel is the same in their Inspector uniform, btw) This is the first indication they are between two things at the moment.

Onto the vest.

There is so, so much work and thought put into this vest! It was a one-off commission for the show, and the creator, Sandy Higgins, has said she is not allowed to give away the final design pattern. I have tried to contact her, and I'm waiting for a reply, so in the mean time I thought I would ask my keen knitter of a sister-in-law about one of the patterns I'm not sure about. "Well, that's Fair Isle knitting," she said, but she knew nothing about the individual line pattern I was interested in. Hmm, I kind of know that already, its in the notes that are guiding me for this meta, but hey, why not do a broader search and see what comes up?

So once I got back home I did. "Fair Isle knitting patterns" hmm...Wikipedia page for starters...what on *earth* is that at the bottom of the page...? YOU ARE. FRIKKING. KIDDING ME!!!!!!!

I am so sorry that needs must make me mention Monty Python yet again, but here we are. And we must mention them, because this link is just too...unbelievably, deliciously good.

If you aren't familiar with the Monty Python catalogue, and don't recognize the mention of Gumbys, they were a set of characters that dressed and spoke in a certain way but the main points to take away were they wore woolen vests in the Fair Isle knitted style and their catch-phrase was - wait for it - "My brain hurts!"

I think we've heard that somewhere before?

CROWLEY: When you first arrived, you said you were here because they were planning to do 'Something Terrible' to you. So you remembered it then. Remember it now. GABRIEL: It hurts to remember. My head isn't built for that.

Right. Now we've got that out of the way...back to the serious stuff.

The colours used in the vest are not your typical angel colours. There is a base of angelic off-white and there are some bits of purple for his royalty around the shoulder area - sometimes you need to look carefully for it. Otherwise it is dominated by vintage shades of red and green. Well. Who's an agent of change driven by love, then?

The horizontal stripe pattern is partly to remind us of the classic biblical robes with stripes that ran along them, much like the style of Crowley's black and red robe in the Job minisode, but is also part of the traditional Fair Isles pattern work. And each row only has two colours, but up around the shoulder area we do see purple start to sneak in as a third colour.

On to the incorporated symbols! I'm going to go from bottom to top.

On the lowest two we feature Crowley and Aziraphale. We have Crowley's demon satyr tail from the Good Omens logo on the lowest stripe - the double-headed arrow.

The next stripe is Aziraphale, with a variation of the classic OXO pattern ("hugs and kisses.") The X is meant to represent his angel wings, and the O is modified to mimic the "o" with a halo in the Good Omens logo. I've highlighted all three in the image on the right.

The third row up is a Sumerian Star pattern that represents one of the flowers associated with Gabriel, the lily. They are supposed to represent the purity of Mary, mother of Jesus, as he had one in his hand when he visited her during the Annunciation.

The row above that is what I believe to be a Byzantium pattern, and is included to show "an Angel's ability to be timeless."

The next three rows are still under a bit of a question mark as I write this. I plan to come back and edit it in if I find the answer.

The bottom of the three is the Duke of Buccleuch pattern, "to celebrate the long and necessary contribution that the cottage industry of hand knitted items."

The middle one - ? (perhaps you, the reader, know? It looks like a spiralling ribbon if I stand back, but that isn't sparking any connections, either.)

Edit: @noneorother tells me in a reblog (below) that this pattern represents the shoelace from the magic incantation Aziraphale uses "Banana Fish Gorilla Shoelace." So it is ribbon-like! This then points to the Second Coming, as it the shoelace references the end of the book, and the last paragraph of the book references Yeats poem "The Second Coming" as well as the novel 1984. To me it is then also telling us there is a cycle occurring, or a cycle that needs to be renewed. This fits in with some other clues other meta-writers have been picking up.

Edit 2: Turns out none of that was correct - I heard back from the creator herself and it's actually the double-ended satyr tail pattern again! It just seems to make a bit of an illusion of a ribbon or shoelace.

The pattern below is a modified OXO pattern.

The top one looks like two rams horns facing each other. A hollowed out rams horn can be used as a trumpet, and is known as a shofar in Jewish religion. Gabriel was traditionally known to carry a trumpet.

The ancient meander pattern would be recognized by most people, included as another classic timeless pattern found all over the world. For some it symbolizes eternity and endless flow.

The wheels here appear to be Michael's ophanim wheels, that would have eyes around the rims.

The hourglass is to remind us that time is running out. Memento mori - "Remember that you die." It is a major theme in both series.

Right up high, just before we lose the rest of the vest inside the overcoat, we get a glimpse of a large diamond-shaped icon. I wonder if this is another stylized set of angel wings, like we saw in the Job minisode on Aziraphale's golden collar.

To finish off the outfit, he is wearing dark gray trousers with sneakers! I'm sure that's so he could keep sneaking up on Aziraphale in the shop, haha. His shirt seems a little too large for him and the tie is knotted too high and is not settled along his centerline. It's all at odds with his previous neat and sharp appearance as Supreme Archangel Gabriel.

after that agatha finale i have many thoughts about rio as death and all the symbolism behind her actions so beware of spoilers for the whole series also in no particular order its gonna be stuff i remember so I'll be jumping around

I'm going to start with the last agathario scene that we gays were hoping The Kiss™️ which is kinda obvious about a kiss from death which is very common in literature and it symbolizes dying so that part was very direct, idk if this means they never kissed before or not but in that moment agatha had a clear goal of getting rio's power for herself and they both knew it would kill her as she said in the first ep... this does imply that she probably tried to do this before but rio stopped her when they were in love all those centuries ago

which kinda goes into a theory that maybe their first entanglement (whatever that implies) created nicky, cause agatha says she didn't do a spell or incantation to create him, he was made from scratch, and rio being The green witch™️ deals not only with death and decay but the cycle of life and death, creation and destruction, so it makes sense that he is their child, created from their love, which is why it hurt them both when she had to take him away, he was also something that challenged the balance of the universe, like billy, and rio allowed agatha to keep him with a timetable that nobody knew

and that takes me into the witches death that agatha killed to keep her son alive, she knew that giving bodies to death would allow rio to turn a blind eye to her child, and it makes for great symbolism with the sentence "death follows wherever they go" because it wasn't that agatha wanted to kill people, she had to so nicholas could survive, because death *was* following her wherever she went, they fell in love and rio had to make the tough decision of leaving her so she wouldn't take away agatha's most prized possession, their kid, and once she did have to do it she still kept following agatha because now she was actually killing witches just to have power and stay alive, she was grieving and murder became her go to (not a good thing) but death kept following wherever she went

and that is possibly why rio never got over her, she was always pursuing agatha and she didn't have time to let go, so at the end when agatha makes the deal to give up billy in exchange of rio letting go of her it had both the meaning of allowing her to be immortal and to forget about agatha, she was tired of having death follow her and they both knew the only way that could happen was for rio to give up her feelings and stop wanting to be with her

another thing is the whole tarot symbolism of death, as a major arcana in most decks death means the closing of a cycle, it isn't a bad card even though people see death as a bad thing, but the whole lilia ep was about showing how her cycle was about to finish (not necessarily meaning her death btw) and through all of the road each of them had their cycles closed, alice managed to get rid of her curse, jen got her power back, lilia finally understood her timeline and organized her thoughts to save her coven, billy found more power and possibly where his twin could be, agatha got the power she wanted for a bit and rio finally put agatha on the ground

also i could talk about how lilia might still be alive but that's a different rant that will come some other time

anyway i just really loved all the death symbolism throughout the whole show and how well they portrayed everything, aubrey did an amazing job as rio and i do hope they use her again in the mcu since we've had so many deaths and there will be more and how she deals with some of the things that don't necessarily follow the natural order of things (just please don't make it comic death cause rio is a lesbian she would never fall in love with thanos)

Over-analyzing the Yingdu Chapter [PART 1]

This is just an analysis and theories based on all the stuff we've seen so far for this chapter. It's a long one so bare with me please!

Ok, first things first: the synopsis. I'll leave the image with the official plot for the Yingdu Chapter because it'll help make things a bit easier to understand.

To me this synopsis makes two things very clear.

Number one is that we're going to see how Cheng Xiaoshi died, aka, probably starting the season with the whole context of this scene from season 2 (one of my theories is that CXS died during a dive, but that's for another post lol):

We're finally going to discover what's the photo LG uses. Given the fact that the synopsis mentions "back to the begging", it's probably a picture of LG and CXS when they met in high school or when they're in college, which, I must point out, they're still attending during the time they go to Yingdu. For the photo to be from their college years makes more sense if we take this into consideration.

Now, the second thing that the synopsis makes clear, is that this is Lu Guang's first attempt at saving Cheng Xiaoshi. Why? Well, for that we need to get into the recently released teaser.

The teaser shows us that Lu Guang is having some sort of nightmare. Some believe that this is a real thing, but to me it seems way too abstract (also it makes sense considering all the drowning symbolism they've shown us). The nightmare could possibly start with the flashback of Cheng Xiaoshi's death, leading to Lu Guang falling into the water, sinking as he's surrounded by photos (btw, the pictures have pieces of the postcard with a building that CXS places on the table during the teaser, but we'll discuss that in a minute), then he appears in this weird place with a clock and the word "Bridon" written with red strings (threads of fate?)

Lu Guang once again falls into the water and then he sees a white light, tries to reach it and Vein appears saying: "you want more punishment?", which aligns with this text on the teaser:

Lu Guang wakes up scared, extremely nervous, very different from the composed LG that we know. To me this reaction is due to this being his first attempt at saving Cheng Xiaoshi. He doesn't know what to expect, he just broke his rules and someone knows it. Even worse, someone wants to punish him for doing so.

Now, let's go to another interesting point of the synopsis: "However, a photo with clues about CXS's parents appeared at the photo studio". This right here is tricky.

The "however" to me implies that this is something that has never happened before. A mysterious deviation of the "path of fate" that Lu Guang "retraces" (like the synopsis says). Now, what is this picture that contains clues? Apparently, it's this one:

It's a building)? And this probably also contains some sort of letter or note with information about Cheng Xiaoshi's parents, specifically his dad who's name is mentioned by Liu Xiao as he interrogates the grown man.

Another interesting thing to point out is that one of the texts on the teaser says "HE may be in Yingdu!" I'm pretty sure it's CXS talking about his dad.

Something that caught my attention is that in this section of the teaser, where they show CXS placing the postcard in the table, he and QL are fighting)? Is she maybe suspicious about this sudden clue? Does she have a bad feeling?

Lets start out with a light one; Sean absolutely has ADHD and dyslexia. Everybody knows Sean can't read, but nobody asks WHY Sean can't read despite frequent opportunities to learn. Based on the camp interactions with Lenny, we know he has been willing to attempt to learn, but has given up. This reads a lot more like learning disability to me, than it does laziness!!

In a similar vein; Sean taking frequent naps/falling asleep a lot is because he's a light sleeper - he has had a hard time falling asleep and staying that way ever since his father got murdered in his bed by the law. Left an impression Sean can't really shake even when surrounded by friends and allies - it's easier to nap when it's light out and people are awake in the area. Combine that with the ADHD and suddenly he's sleeping when he's not supposed to - like on guard duty.

Btw Sean has REAL BAD nightmares so that doesn't help at ALL either

Sean's mom probably passed when he was very young - he doesn't have any tangible memories of her in the same way he does his dad. Telling stories about him is how Sean keeps the only real family he had alive.

SIMILARLY I imagine it was just the two of them fleeing to America together; Sean was right there when Darragh got killed in his sleep - I imagine him waking up to a gunshot tbh.

In previous posts I've talked some about Sean's parallels and similarities to Arthur. Consider; Sean having similar self-esteem issues as Arthur, but instead of being quiet and disparaging about it, Sean covers it up by boasting and talking a big game. Nobody tries to talk Sean up because they all think he has a big ego, and it sort of just feeds into the insecurities Sean already has & is trying to avoid thinking about.

Also; Sean is generally an open book about his feelings, but he struggles a LOT with being truly vulnerable or getting at the deeper stuff. He'll also always downplay and make a joke out of truly traumatic and desperate situations he's been in. Though he DOES tell you what happened, he's chuckling and acting like it's nothing. (This isn't even a headcanon, he actually does this very consistently. It's why Karen is so mad at him in that one camp interaction after the party lol)

The only times Sean feels comfortable not being The Camp Clown is when Dutch isn't around, with a limited amount of people to witness. He still feels weird about the fact that he did actually try to kill him, when they first met, like he actually pulled the trigger (I feel like people are prone to forget this abt him), and he's never sure if Dutch might resent or distrust him a little for it. Same goes for Hosea.

A MacSummers one I came up w on discord literally yesterday; Sean has a Claddagh ring heirloom he got from his late mother through his late father. He gifts it to Lenny at some point, who doesn't realize the symbolism, just the sentimental value. Lenny wears it on a chain around his neck.

The previous one could work for MacJones too but tbh I think it hits harder for MacSummers lol (im biased)

Sean blocked out a lot of what he experienced while holed up at Ike Skelding's; the teethpulling and the burned feet were probably some of the lighter things he had to endure.

Sidenote the fact that his feet were fucking burned being as brushed off as it is makes me fucking insane. How bad were they burned Sean? Are you in pain atm? Should you be walking?

jim strim. theyre doing a trial chamber today

jimmy has inherited olis property. honestly there isnt a lot of it but he inherited it. its like a little platform on the side of the disc. notably its right near sausages house

the gang today is jimmy cpk sneeg and martyn. surely this wont go wrong

jimmy has like 9 stacks of eggs in his inventory for some reason so he throws all of them at scotts house. "take that scott smajor. thats what you get. for not being a dischead. for being a donut. take that."

jimmy runs back over to martyn. he asks if theyre a team and martyn says every man for himself. martyn if u dont team with him.. but then sneeg interrupts them by throwing eggs at them. cpk comes over too and they start joking about making a podcast. they switch from bit to bit so fast idk how to summarise it.

the trial chamber isnt that far away so they find it and start digging down. sneeg IMMEDIATELY gets lost so cpk goes back up to get him while jimmy and martyn start raiding the chamber.

jimmy starts talking about the new blocks and martyn asks him to repeat himself so hes like "i always think theyre like-" then martyns like "IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!" and they both laugh (he immediately apologises) then jimmys like haha that actually made me really upset :(

jimmy uses a vault and gets a bad omen bottle and he drinks it almost immediately. keep in mind hes not even in full diamond yet btw. not enchanted.

jimmy gets down to 3 hearts. then 2 hearts. sneeg gives him a golden apple. he manages to heal up so its all fine. they get their ominous keys. sneeg gives him more gapples. while the others are opening their ominous vaults jim crafts a diamond helmet and boots so now hes in full diamond :)

both cpk and jimmy get the "take aim" achievement while in the chamber. ??

jimmy tabbed out for literally a few seconds to ask people to like the stream and cpk started mining the floor under him. for funsies.

sneeg hits jimmy with his bow and apologises. which IS important. to me. sneeg and jimmy can be something so wonderful.

cpk got the mace. jimmy doesnt care in favour of sneeg getting the ominous trial exclusive music disc

they get one of the banner patterns and they. try to test it. on a white banner with white dye. then get confused as to why it doesnt work.

they head back home to drop off some stuff then go to the next chamber. turns out they arent that far apart

fwhip joins the server. they invite him but he is in iron armour. so he doesnt come along.

new info on the deaths, oli died to a creeper on stream and aimsey died in a bastion off stream (but there is video of it? apparently martyn showed his chat earlier)

they play for a bit then jimmys audio fucks up so he has to relog. turns out flick jumped onto his pc and just disconnected a bunch of cables

honestly the rest of the chamber is the standard everyone having fun sometimes making fun of jimmy in a nice way. martyn and sneeg start making fun of cops out of nowhere which is based. jimmy can do a really good mickey mouse impression?

Chrollo’s a Spirit (a HxH/YYH crack theory)

I propose this YYH/HxH speculation I pulled out of my arse during an another insomniac episode:

‘What if Chrollo Lucilfer is a spirit?’

I speed typed it to a friend and after a good 10 hours of sleep we both came back to those convoluted arguments like

There’s probably more stuff I wanted to say but my mind’s drawn a blank so let’s celebrate with New Years with some good natured delusion. Just silly and good vibes.

Koenma and Chrollo: same person, different fonts.

Let’s start with the obvious. These two look like they could be the same person with a different hair color:

- Purple tattoo on their foreheads.

- Parted, sleek hair that gives off ‘I’m-barely-holding-it-together-90s-pretty-boy’ vibes

- Koenma’s pacifier/ring and Chrollo’s earrings (while a peculiar design, both are subtle symbols of their authority)

- Leaders (that do end up overthrowing a form of corrupted authority in their home the moment they had enough power to do so)

Another thing: Koenma’s human form is his choice. He chose to appear and look this way. Why? Who was he basing that form on? Is it truly random? Any subconscious connection here? Was it intentional? Food for thoughts. (By the time we first see his human form, Chrollo’s canonically 18 btw. And it’s called commonly « teenage form »)

And if it was’t a choice and his actual older physique… siblings much? 👀

Spirit Detectives vs. Chrollo’s profile = chasing Chrollo’s shadow?

Koenma has always had a type when it came to Spirit Detectives:

- Dark hair, dark eyes, conventionally attractive

- Fighting prodigies with insane aura potential

- They’ve never felt like they truly belonged

- ‘Us vs. Them’ mentality with varying levels of extremism

- Rough exteriors masking an idealism and purity that ultimately gets tainted/destroyed

- Felt like they had purpose, were finally making a difference the moment they’ve had the power to kill

- All were first given their mission at age 14

Chrollo fits mots of these, interestingly. And he’s been alive through all 3 detectives’ services.

Also, Kuroko (Kuroro + the only detective who’ve kept it together and is still in line with the SW’s whole stitch about protecting humans from demons out of holy obligation. An ‘angel’ I suppose — cast during Chrollo’s early childhood, his most untainted years), Sensui being dubbed the fallen angel (and the possible year of his fall coinciding with Chrollo’s age when Sarasa’s murder occurred), and Yusuke often being dubbed a fiend (by this point Chrollo’s already deep into the PT business and criminal underworld)

Theory to pile up on top of this crack theory: Koenma was already aware of the way Chrollo’s life would play out, although he couldn’t interfere with its trajectory. And he subconsciously made all those choices with his little brother in mind. Kinda sick of him—

Enma’s shadiness

Enma, Koenma’s father and the Spirit World’s King (former, currently incarcerated as he deserves), is just another example of the absentee father figure in YYH (or Togashi’s work at large). He’s constantly on ‘business trips’ (and learning what a fraction of those entailed makes you wonder what other atrocities he could potentially be behind…), leaving Koenma to handle the SW’s tight and demanding bureaucracy and affairs. When he finally makes his canon apparition, he’s revealed to be rather awful—one of his first major moves is to order Yusuke’s killing lol. And he later on tries again by tasking Kuroko with it (tho she declines. Queen.)

His corruption is well-documented, revelations snowballing after Koenma dug through recordings and falsified reports of human and demons crimes following the Black Chapter tape’s disappearance from the archives.

Now… Enma possible entwinement with Chrollo’s origins….

The manga establishes high-level demons (class A and higher) have the ability to procreate with humans. Interestingly, the demonic genes can stay dormant and literally show up 40 generations later. Depends on what triggers it. That’s what happens with Yusuke.

Now, imo it implies that similarly ranked spirits (such as Enma —who’s an upper class A being) can also engage in such liaisons with humans (and it might be actually easier too since powerful spirits were never bared from accessing the human realm, unlike high level demons). And as we already mentioned… Enma is *always* on business trips. 👁️

Enma fathering a human child would fit well into the myths of powerful creatures engendering offsprings with mortals (the ‘demi-deities’). This pattern aligns with figures like Zeus, Odin, etc. And children from those unions such as Hercules, Achilles, Orpheus, etc.

Children born from those unions also tend to:

- Stand out early on, for their looks and genius/talents. Chrollo’s an extraordinary person, whether you like him or not.

- Have turbulent destinies, and lives shaped by tragedy.

- Cause havoc

(Also, while surface level, worth nothing Enma’s dark-haired and dark-eyed as well.)

(Also, Enma’s corruption over centuries, brainwashing of humans and demons, forged reports on humanity’s crimes, constant attempts to seize more territory in the other two realms, etc… gives some crumbs to link him up to HxH’s plot and Meteor City but that’s a story for another day jkfghvjh)

Spirits and Specialists

Spirits in YYH, at least those active at the Gate of Judgment, have unique skill sets that don’t quite aligns strictly with the standard nen categories in HxH nor even fit the rest of YYH’s own power system. They’re intimately linked to their very existence and nature as spirits: they talk to the dead, control the dead, possess the living, read minds, heal, interact with all planes of the afterlife, etc. This is closest to specialist coded you can get, I suppose.

Chrollo’s a specialist with a rather special relationship with death… thematically, we’re almost there.

Chrollo’s identity crisis(?)

Sheila’s comment in chapter 395 is lowkey what birthed this brainrot lol. This whole line about how Chrollo ‘Should have been born somewhere else’ probably means he’s ‘too good’ for a place like Meteor City, where his existence and life aren’t acknowledged by the rest of the world. But what if it meant something else… 🤡

Doesn’t it line up with the idea of a child abandoned by the Spirit World, left to grow up in a place where his existence wouldn’t attract attention?

With how elistist and carefully structured the SW is, it’s unlikely someone like Enma, whose reputation is on the line, and who wants to maintain absolute control and order, would welcome a half-human up there. Especially someone without obvious use of spiritual energy. I doubt he’d even care about any kid who’s not Koenma.

(And that’s why I don’t see him caring for the Troupe’s criminal activities either. Why would Enma care? He let the Black Black Club in YYH be prosperous for decades, not taking considerable actions as they ran both human and demon trafficking rings, slaughtered demons for sports, and hired some to do their dirty work and spread ill in the human realm. Even though the Spirit World literally had the means to end them on the spot.

His long abandoned offspring (probably one of many) doing shady shit as countless other humans is the least of his problems as long as his own title doesn’t get dragged in it.)

Also, one of Chrollo’s dilemmas is that he doesn’t know who he is. He doesn’t understand himself. He mimics others, steals their essence/abilities, incarnates different personas depending on what’s needed in the moment, and builds his identity out of fragments. As the spiders’ leader, He’s played the role of this detached man, this enigma who pretends he’s at peace with putting the careful structure he’s founded over his own life or those of the people he cherishes the most.

There are times when you wonder if he even considers himself fully human (cf. His cryptic thoughts during his fight against Hisoka ‘Humans are so very interesting’)

His full name, Chrollo Lucilfer, compliments someone who’s fallen from grace—or perhaps… from an actual place? Possibly the SW itself? His existential crisis parallels Yusuke’s in YYH, as the latter has also felt out of place for most his life, and when he finds out he’s part demon he also subtly struggles to reconcile his humanity with his otherworldly heritage.

(Though, Chrollo doesn’t have the knowledge on different realms as Yusuke did, so I imagine he’d be feeling more than a little out of place if this theory was canon.)

So what if Chrollo’s identity issues stem from his SW heritage? Whether he’s the descendant of a spirit who’s fallen in Meteor Ciry, a half-spirit child of Enma, or even the result of some darker corruption, it would explain his sense of detachment from humanity (which as seen in YYH, is a rather strong natural trait in spirits lol despite being the self-claimed human babysitters), his constant search for meaning and identity, his fascination with concepts of life and death, his genius…

Bandit’s Secret and the Book of Enma

Once the owner of any ability Chrollo stole passes away, their profile and ability disappear from Bandit’s Secret. We don’t get much context on how the Grade book works aside from containing full on biographies and secrets on the people a shinigami’s ferrying and/or keeping an eye on. But I think there’s a similar mechanism at play.

Imo it’d make sense that as souls are ferried away, their informations would get classified and disappear from the book as those souls are not the shinigami’s responsibility anymore. Once they reach their final destination, they may leave room for new borns or other souls the shinigami has to care for. They’ve fully ‘passed’.

(Also in the 2011 anime, YYH’s Suzaku was in Chrollo’s book lol. I know this particular instance was just a fun Easter egg, but YYH’s ending does hint at a slow merging of all three realms, with demons then allowed to freely roam human and spirit worlds as long as they respect the laws lol. It wouldn’t surprise me if both HxH and YYh’s universe are loosely connected… So yup Spirit Chrollo canon I’m so smart.)

its been exactly a month since i posted some art and stuff but i assure you i have a good reason and that reason is I GOT DRAGGED INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE ABYSS BY ELDRITCH HORRORS AND CAME OUT WITH A RETURNING OBSESSION AND THIS FREAK.

So there was this roleplay me and my friends were doing and I had to design a new villian to replace an old one and so I came up with a design on the spot and now this old man exists and what do you mean people think hes hot whaaaaat

he's got no name, i've just been calling him THE KING because just calling him Nightmare feels weird and like I might figure out a nickname for him???

idk what i wanna do with him but i think hes cool... if i give into the urges i'll write more about him and his potential AU because yes i think im suddenly obsessed with this

oh btw in case you're still here um fun fact; the gem in his crown is actually malachite! this was just for fun and then i googled the symbolism behind the gemstone and then realized how ironic and fitting it was

additionally, the crowns of both the passive and corrupted forms took HEAVY inspiration from dreamcatchers, and I like the idea that the corrupted form lacks a mouth because the villagers tried to silence him (as in keep him quiet and refusing to let him speak his mind or have any freedom, but also eventually attempting to literally kill him. its something that still haunts him to this day presumably, and compared to other nightmares he's actually a lot more composed and quieter too, maybe somewhat because of that!) and...yeah, i stole the idea of "nightmare's tentacles resembling tree branches" idea from another design... I can't find the artist I got that idea from though... credit to @irriska for their Epimeliad!Nightmare design because that outfit inspired the one for this Nightmare!

Alright! Personally, I think Vein's whole cannible gig is 🌟symbolism. I think he does really shady business, and maybe his ability is connected to blood and flesh and all that fun stuff. Although, him forcing people to eat (supposed) human meat could just be a show of his absoulutely crazy power! (Or, you know, he's a cannible, but what can you do?) I think he feeds upon his prey (Liu Xiao's hunter symbolisms/metaphors), and isn't really empathetic/sympathetic. Either he paired up with Liu Xiao, or Liu Xiao and him are rivals. I'm opting for the first option

He probably likes keeping his own hands clean, and observes. Ultimately, he's probably going to be our worry in the future. He's also SO FINEE!

Xia Fei got some massive storyline packed in there and I know it. Cheng Xiaoshi's probably going to try and help our poor bbg and stumble into Vein's shady stuff. Honestly, I really hope he doesn't die. Also, him doodling in class was so real <3 don't bleed to death, please 🙏

Part five and final of Jess Reads Fierce Valor as we reached his post WWII military career, his retirement and last years of his life

Notes: Please read the book and take your own conclusions if you can, this is my view and my own clonclusion from my experience reading it

okay now really not much happens, he got married for a second time, stayed in the army, got divorced again

he came to the veterans reunion in 1947 and then never showed up again until some 50 years later

he made his final combat jumps in Korea, he had like 4 which was like a LOT

btw do you guys remember Albert Blithe from the series right? Right! the guy lived after recovering from his wounds and actually served in the 187th Infantry Regiment, guess who was the company commander? thats right! our very own bald man

ok so he worked and had time studied Russian and became the governor os Spandau, at this time there was already some cold war shit going on

speaking of shit, his german was shitty (so is mine!!!) so he couldn't quite undestand the prisioners but played chess with one of them??

Ah yes got married and divorced again

trained and organized some stuff for the the Royal Lao Army and some more army duty??? but nothing interesting is said really

he was then Lieutenant Colonel and worked with the Pentagon, it says that his army duty came to an end in 1964 but his name came up in army records in 1965 at a special division, so he had some function? was he a spy? we will never know for sure

okay now he is retired, married again (the man was a machine), had some health related problems and had to do some heart surgeries, like 5 of them or even more

at this point he was really introspective over his life, then the Ambrose book came and old man was PISSED because guess what??? Ambrose didn't even bothered to actual fact check his book and Speirs felt that he did dirty to his first ex-wife and even to himself

Dick became his biggest advocate and tried so many times to reunited him to the last members of Easy but he couldn't, he even begged Speirs but remember he is a Taurus so he said no again and again

toward his late years and after the release of the book he was afraid some n30-naz1s would come after him for some kind of vengeance so he asked for his name adress and personal info to be removed so Dick was the only one who knew hot to contact him

then there was the reunion for the screening of Band of Brothers and he finally showed up after his last wife made him show up and it was really emotional, Matthew Settle just watched the real Speirs and Dick watching the first ep and then Matthew showed up on his door and asked him to sing his cast, cause he got hurt his feet somehow

oh right forgot to mention that he loved his poodles, he was really into square dance (I don't know what the hell this is don't ask me), had some weird hobbies like pan for gold on rivers??? also normal ones like playing golf and he was also a nice elderly to his grand-sons and great-grand-sons, nephews, nieces and stuff

he had really bad PTSD specially while sleeping ans even after being retired he couldn't relax while sleeping and always eat his food fast.

he wouldn't let people kill spiders, like black widow spiders because of the William Wallace story and because he served in a company that the symbol and nickname was one

also he didn't talked about his army life like AT ALL, he said it was harder for him to remember things since he spent great part of his life om the army while the other guys served like with one company and that was it, for me it's clear it was bullshit he was so hard on himself and self critical on the basic stuff he didn't so one can only imagine how he dealt with the heavy stuff

his final years he was losing his strength, already loss great part of his hearing and was so ashamed of it and was really frustrated and miserable

after his death this one person of his family took his ashes and spread somewhere in a beautiful lake near the Canadian border where he rests today, quite emotional really

Okay so overall this was such a great reading, it's really a testament to how complex, mysterious and sometimes twisted his character really was.

I loved how the authors didn't pushed any agenda or narratives, I feel like they did a good job because they didn't tried to justify any of his actions, they just wanted to bring as many facts to the table as they could so we, as readers, could come up with our own conclusions

Mine is: He was crazy indeed, he did some questionable stuff and it took it's toll on him during and after the war, but also really cared for the man on his side, he sure could be cruel, flawed, cold blooded, impetuous and a true killer, but at the same time protective, respectful, really smart and incredible skilled as a leader, so much that everyone respected him for it, some loved the man dearly, some despised and that it was what truly amazed me by

okay, uhm. this got REALLY long. so i'll put most of it under a read more

What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character?

okay. full stop. asuka originally existed as a quite literal self-insert of myself for the sake of being shipped with goro akechi. bc i finally played p5r at iii think 18, maybe 19? and got REALLY obsessed with him. fell in love, you might say. i've grown out of that and now am more or less insane abt asugoro as a pair in itself rather than like. the thought of being in a relationship with a fictional character, lmao.

this is very critical information to me though. i will never forget asuka's origin as a selfship self-insert. never stop selfshipping, you WILL get cool and awesome ocs out of it.

(these were all definitely traced btw. idk where the first one is traced from, but the second's from rika's official ref for higurashi sotsu, the third's from marie's portrait, and the fourth for aigis' arena portrait. my ass did not want to learn to draw at the time lmao)

i don't think i ever drew any proper ship art of her and akechi, and i never wrote anything proper with them, either. or with her at all. her character was pretty messy--her arcana was still the aeon, but i made the reason for that like..her being aware she's a self insert? and therefore not meant to exist? i got really meta with it, it was weird. and there was like. a lot of personal stuff too but let's not get into that

iirc the reason i changed her from a self insert to a full oc was for the sake of creative freedom--i really limited myself making a self aware self insert, and thought it'd be more fun to take that basis and twist it into a different but kind of adjacent character.

3. What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

her name!!! the first thing i went for in asuka's actual creation was changing the self-insert's name. i still wanted to be a little self indulgent with the character concept, so i wanted a name that had a meaning that related to birds--just to throw in some kind of parallel or connection to crow.

so, i went with naming her asuka, with the kanji 飛 (asu, "to fly) and 鳥 (ka, "bird"). there are other kanji combinations you can do for this name, but i went with that one in specific! i remember that i tried making that kind of self indulgence with the name more reasonable by saying it moreso symbolizes her freeing herself from her manager, like a bird escaping its cage and flying away from its owner.

at the same time, i think my initial concept for asuka's persona was odette from swan lake, so it'd be a double meaning for both her name and persona having a bird-related theme. i don't remember if her codename was originally something like swan as well, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was.

19. What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite?

holding myself back from saying asugoro. i'm normal. i'm normal.

i think my actual favorite thing about asuka is the whole thing i came up with for her being the aeon arcana. i don't think i actually spoiled it in full here? but i'll go ahead and drop some things because i proooobably won't be writing or releasing a full fic detailing everything she'd be involved with in the game's story anytime soon, lmao.

she's not human! she has a crisis because of that! she might not get to exist! she has a lot of beef with her dad! her dad loves her a lot and he's protective of her but he's been lying to her this whole time about her existence, her childhood, her memories, everything!!! and she loves him too but she's so angry because he lied to her!!!! her whole life he lied to her!!!! her life is a lie!!! she's not meant to exist!!!!! she's not meant to be living or breathing or anything!!! but she's here, she wants to be here, and if there's a chance that'll be taken away she's going to fight for herself and her personal freedom to live even if that means turning against the people she loves most and taking away their freedom for her own selfish wants--

in short. i really love that i went full self indulgent with this part of her character because i think it paid off. i think it helped me expand p5's world, just in my own little head. and p3's world on a technicality but shhhhhh you tooootally didn't hear that

now. my least favorite thing. i wanna say it was the personal stuff that kept me from really developing asuka in her first year or two of existence, even back when she was just a self-insert. that's time i can't take back! but i'm happy i have time now and that i've developed her so much. she's so cool

Warning, long post

So I've mentioned my AU and it's concept on my blogs before. The premise is basically all the Targaryen's survive the rebellion and kill the Baratheons, Starks, Arryns, and Tullys for their treason. Aerys remains king but I kinda stall his madness for the sake of story telling so Jaime does not kill him.

My fic starts at the same time as the Canon books except it basically only (so far) takes place in kingslanding. All the Targ kids (Aegon, Rhaenys, Daenerys, Viserys, Jon) get their own chapters, Rhaella and Elia, get them as well. Rhaegar is the only one so far without a chapter in progress.

The story mainly follows the more domestic drama and relationships between the characters so far, with everyone having to endure Aerys. But I do add in a lot of fluff for the Targ kids so it can be sweet.

Aegon is the picture perfect prince, smart, funny, kind, good looking but he has a few problems. Aegon has some pent up hatred towards Rhaegar for abandoning the family during the rebellion, this results in Aegon being more critical and distrustful of Rhaegar, viewing Rhaegar as mad for chasing a prophecy. This extra tension since Aegon is the child who Rhaegar views as the prince who was promised and thus pays extra unwanted attention to Aegon. Aegon is very close with his siblings, and mother, feeling extremely protective of them.

Rhaenys is an intelligent, witty, charming girl. Rhaenys shares Aegons feelings towards Rhaegar for the rebellion but she's much calmer and more lenient with Rhaegar, mainly because she doesn't talk to him often, he's distant and often in his head so neither cares enough to reach out. Rhaenys is loving towards her family and often tries to keep them in line, especially Daenerys. She has a slight rivalry with Daenerys but it's largely loving. She is the only one of her siblings in a relationship, she is secretly courting Willas Tyrell, heir to Highgarden.

Viserys is much nicer and calmer than in Canon since he never had to go through the trauma of being on the run and having his family die. Viserys is a loving older brother and uncle. He's a mama's boy, he tries his best to support his mother while she deals with the abuse at Aerys hand. He has a slightly odd relationship with Aerys. Aerys spared Viserys a lot of the abuse that the other family members suffered because Viserys is his favorite son, while he was saved from the physical and mental abuse he developed a guilt of sorts, feeling guilty that while his family is hurt he is safe. This guilt causes Viserys to be a bit protective and he tries to remove his family members from the area when Aerys get violent and loud.

Daenerys is reckless and chaotic but loving. She has a complicated relationship with her father. Aerys goes from doting on his daughter in every way to yelling and screaming at her at an instant, as a result Daenerys tends to avoid being around her father unless necessary. She's extremely close to Viserys with him being her safe person, kinda seeing him as a father or a caretaker more than a brother.

All the family members that have POVs are the main characters but Jon (Aemon in my rewrite) has the biggest one planned out. Jon is the last known member of the Stark family since he's Lyannas son. Jon is raised as something similar to a prisoner, being a symbol of the war and all the people the Targaryens demolished. Jon is antagonized by Aerys frequently to the point Jon loses sleep every night over the possibility of being murdered and having dreams of being burned alive by Aerys. He feels something similar to survivors guilt, believing he didn't deserve to live, and viewing his birth as the cause of the rebellion (will alaborate if needed)and as a result the cause of death of everyone who died in the rebellion, including all the Starks and his mother. Jon is extremely paranoid and fearful. Hes so paranoid that he went mute because he was scared of saying the wrong thing and being killed, his fear is intense that he can't talk if he tried, he created a mental block to stop him. he is rarely away from Aegon who he is close to, if Aegon is in a room Jon cannot go in he'll wait by the door for Aegon to come out. Jon is close with Rhaenys as well, often going to her for comfort.

That's base info, I know there's a lot, and that's just the stuff that I'm posting, I have pages of lore I'm waiting to implement.
