This is random but I've always thought that being part the Line of Aurelius ought to do something. Like why bother making this a whole venerated thing if it doesn't make that much difference?? I mean sure its vamps have *destinies* and all, but so do plenty of other vamps.

I think since its a bloodline thing, it ought to come with a few things. Stronger vamps than normal, for one. Maybe their demon face is different, hey maybe they even have retractable claws or some shit. But mostly I think each of them should have their own little ability unique to them. Something that sets them apart even from other vamps in their bloodline and increases their value to the family.

Drusilla obviously is a seer, and had Angelus not driven her crazy first that would have been a HUGE boon for them. Darla, I think should have a form of charmed speak, able to seduce and dissuade just about anyone. Almost like thrall but not quite. Angel for the love of God should have line of sight teleportation. He literally does it anyway without the explanation that that's what hes doing and it drives me nuts so I'd rather that just be an established thing he can do. And Spike? Hes embarrassing and it would be part of why the rest of the Whirlwind got down on him so bad. Spike should be an empath. Its a skill he demonstrates anyway, and it'd help explain why he's so different to other vampires. Could be something he's struggled to set aside, even told himself that he hates the gift and would ignore it as much as he can. Would explain a lot of why he's not treated well even by other members of his bloodline. Who ever heard of a vampire empath?

It could be anything honestly, I just think these would work with their traits in canon and I'm grumpled that their bloodline has no real meaning past season 1 sorta.

Angel was so mean to darla about their time together as evil vampires. Like Darla loved Angel both when she was evil and when she was human. Suddenly, she's human and the only person she's ever loved is telling her that he wants nothing to do with her and everything they had was terrible and messed up. Like yeah, it mightve been, but it always felt like Angel had to say it in the worst possible way to make it hurt the most. And I don't think he did that because he wanted to hurt darla necessarily, I think he did that because that's what he has to say to himself. But it wasn't about him, it was about darla, and if they really wanted to show Angel being able to grow and make his peace, he should have focused more on her feelings and realized that he wasn't just talking to his inner demons, he was talking to a woman who had nothing left of her life but him

i know the answer is "they didn't know darla was going to be so important to the lore" but it is soooo funny to watch darla in buffy season 1. she's such a lackey. such a henchman. angel got a soul and spent the next hundred years curled up in an alley eating rats and meanwhile darla went crawling back to the master and decided her days of being an evil girlboss were OVER she was done making decisions for herself. whatever you say boss <3 spike and drusilla were out there living their best evil undead lives and darla third-wheeled them for a few years before going fuck this. literally would rather be vampire henchman #3
