Moth to Flame (Yoongi Short)

A/N: This is connected to Yoongi's part in my BTS As Cliched School Tropes piece

He takes a long drag of his cigarette, some smoke escaping the corners of his mouth as he tries to hold it in for as long as possible. He stares across the water at the distant lights. Your stomach is doing cartwheels as you wait for him to say something...anything. "You gonna tell me why you did it?" You ask, heart pounding loudly in your ears; you're trying desperately to hold back your tears. "Nothing to say," He shrugs, the cold expression never leaving his face. "Nothing to say, huh?" You repeat, letting out a bitter laugh. "The fuck do you want me to tell you, Y/n? That the only reason I approached you that day at the park was because I thought you'd be a good fuck? And now you're like a fucking flea that won't leave? Truth doesn't sound so damn nice when it's that fucking truthful, does it?"

At this point, tears are streaming down your face and your lip is trembling beyond your control. You don't need this. Any of it.

"Well...glad I finally know where I stand..." Your voice is barely above a whisper, but it's all you can manage. You stand up and dust yourself off, not wanting any remnants of this abandoned and decrepit building- or relationship- on your clothes when you get home tonight. Without another word, you turn around and walk out the way you came.

Yoongi's POV:

I can't bring myself to say a word just yet. I need to build the courage- especially because after this, it's all over. No take-backs, no redos, and absolutely no I'm sorry. It feels like my heart is gonna burst from my chest.

"Watch your fucking back, because I'm coming for you and your entire block."

The words play on a loop in my head, looming over me like a curse. I should've never let her get mixed up in this. I should've been more careful...I should've never gotten close to her in the first place.

"Why'd you bring me here?" She asks, her eyes doe-like and innocent...and so full of pain. Pain...because of me.

"Just...wanted to talk." "Okay...are you gonna start with the picture?" "What picture?" I pretend to not to know- in fact, I'm pretending like I wasn't the one to send it to her through the burner phone in the first place. She reaches into her pocket and takes out her phone, meanwhile, I brace myself so that I'm ready to keep the lie going. She turns her phone around, showing me the picture I coordinated for Jimin to take of me kissing Jennie.

I feel so horrible as I glance at the screen and then at Y/n's beautifully broken face... What I wouldn't do to tell her the truth. To hold her in my arms and comfort her- tell her it was all a lie.

But I can't comfort her. Not this time.

"What about it?" I won't even meet her gaze again. I might just break down if I do. "You gonna tell me why you did it?" I can tell she's trying to keep her voice steady, but it's no use- I know she's wavering. "Nothing to say..." "Nothing to say, huh?"

I'm so sorry for this, my beautiful girl...

"The fuck do you want me to tell you, Y/n? That the only reason I approached you that day at the park was because I thought you'd be a good fuck? And now you're like a fucking flea that won't leave? Truth doesn't sound so damn nice when it's that fucking truthful, does it?"

In that moment, I can almost audibly hear her heart shatter to pieces, meanwhile, my world is crumbling at my feet...my own doing.

When I see the tears falling, I almost break, myself, but I have to be strong. "Well...glad I finally know where I stand..."

When she turns around to leave, I almost reach out to pull her back but then I remember

that this is only small price to pay to keep her safe... to keep her alive.

Yoongi has never liked scary movies. He remembers the first time he saw one, having snuck into the living room when his older brother wasn’t watching to curl in the armchair, eyes fixated on the screen. He remembers the way his fear became deep rooted, eyes wide as a killer clown murdered everyone in Derry, dragging them down to the sewers.

He’s hated scary movies since then - especially ones with clowns. 

Yet he can’t help but let you drag him into your annual month-long marathon of Halloween movies. Some of them aren’t so bad - your marathoning isn’t exclusive to things that terrify him and keep him staring up at the ceiling at night with the bathroom door open and lights on. Like Hocus Pocus - that was a great film and he’d slept soundly afterward. 

Tonight is not going to be like that. You’ve primed him for days leading up to tonight, gushing about how Scream is your favorite and you want him to try and guess who the killer is before the big reveal. He’s not very good at guessing, but the way your eyes light up when you open your apartment door to find him with popcorn and soda in hand make it worth it.

A lot of things are worth it with you. Like going to the farmer’s market on a really busy day, or going to some pretentious coffee shop forty minutes away because their rose latte is your favorite, or being dragged to a very crowded bar to see a band that you like. 

Your friendship with Yoongi shouldn’t make sense. You like bright sunny days and going outside on walks, venturing into crowded places to watch people, introducing yourself to new friends and chatting with people at the bar. Yoongi likes cold and rainy days and staying inside, keeping to himself at the few places he’s familiar with, and tucking away in a corner with his headphones. 

He likes to say you adopted him as a joke, but it’s not really a joke. You have adopted him into your friends circle, bringing the quiet boy from your freshman algebra class into the fold. Years later, you still greet him with the same oozing excitement as the first time you introduced yourself, bursting at the seams with kindness. 

“You didn’t cheat and look up anything, right?” you demand, suddenly serious as you sit down on your couch and fold your legs. He smirks and shakes his head, brushing the dark hair out of his eyes as he sits in the middle. “Good. You need to make honest guesses.” 

“Yeah, yeah. I know the rules.”

Your grin is blinding and for a second, the world is nothing but the beat of Yoongi’s thundering heart and your smile. He blinks and shakes it off, watching you from the corner of his eye as you settle into the blankets, throwing the corner toward him to keep him warm. 

Tentatively, he pulls the covers over his knees as he pulls them up onto the couch. The blankets are from your bed so they smell like you, vanilla and cinnamon. Hitting the lights on the back of the couch, you douse your apartment into darkness as the TV flickers to life, opening up the movie’s beginning.

Yoongi’s heart is already pounding. Both at how close you are and at the anticipation for what’s going to come on screen. Slasher movies aren’t his favorite, a little too realistic for him to comfortably watch them. 

Still, he watches with muted interest as Casey answers an old school phone, leaning on a counter while the world’s most unsettling voice talks to her through the receiver. 

“That voice would freak me out,” Yoongi admits. “What’s that one we watched with the you’re gonna die in seven days?” 

“The Ring.”

“Yeah. People need to stop answering phones.”

“You gonna stop answering my phone calls?”

He pouts. “No.” 

Your laugh is like tinkling silver. He grins, pleased as you lean toward him, shifting so that your arms are pressed together and your head is resting on his shoulder. He lets you snuggle him despite the fact that for the next five minutes, he can barely follow what’s happening on screen because his heart is slamming and his thoughts are dizzy. 

Yoongi has no idea if you know how he feels. He doesn’t think you do - there’s no way you’d cuddle up to him and make him flustered and confused if you did. You’re not the kind of person to lead him on, which leaves him stranded in a sea of do you or don’t you like him. 

It’s a puzzle he keeps trying to solve himself without asking you, which has resulted in zero solves or answers. 

Yoongi flinches the first time Ghostface comes on screen, mouth tilting downward. You peer up at him, eyes wide. The TV light reflects in your eyes as you watch him, a question in your gaze. He clears his throat. “Caught me off guard.” 

“Uh huh.” 

Yoongi feels his heart race when Casey begins running across the field on screen. He can almost imagine what it must be like to run for your life, chased by some crazy person in a mask and - 

The movie pauses. He blinks and looks at where you’re watching him, smirking. “What? He asks, eyes wide. “Why’d you pause it.”

“Why didn’t you tell me you don’t like scary movies?”

“What makes you think that?”

“Yoongi, you’re squeezing my thigh.”

He becomes hyper aware that his hand is on your thigh, squeezing tightly as his anxiety increases. He feels warmth spread up his neck and he lets you go, turning away to hide the way his ears and cheeks turn red. You giggle and he squirms under the embarrassment, looking anywhere but you.

“Come on,” you urge. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You like scary movies.”

“So?”

“So,” he emphasizes, pouting. He won’t look at you, suddenly interested in his nail beds as you continue to stare at him. It’s dark in your apartment and you still sit close to him, thigh pressed against his. “I enjoy doing what you enjoy.” 

“We can watch something else.” 

He shakes his head. “Really, it’s okay. I want to find out who the killer is.” 

You chew on your lower lip, the silence heavy for a minute. “Would it help if I held your hand?” His eyes shoot up to look at you, checking if you’re serious. It seems you are, all the humor vanishing from your face as you stare at him with an earnest expression. “Only if you want to.”

“Maybe.”

Your lips twitch in a smile. “What if I told you it would help me if we held hands?”

“Then definitely.” 

When you smile, Yoongi knows you’re onto him. He feels his stomach flip when you lean in close, the smell of vanilla and cinnamon making his head swim as you press a chaste kiss to his cheek. He feels warm all over, fingers and toes buzzing as you settle back into the couch much closer to him. 

He stretches his hand toward you and you link your fingers with his. He grins at the warmth of your palms and the way you tug your laced fingers into your lap, leaning into his shoulder again. Hiding his smile, he relaxes into the back of the couch, ready to take on any scary movie in the world if it means having whatever this is with you.

“Press play,” he urges, leaning his head on yours. “I can definitely do this now.”

Which BTS members would be most likely to initiate makeup sex

1. V

KING of makeup sex. In fact, arguments turn him on so much that he would purposefully push his girlfriend's buttons so that he could "make it up to her" immediately afterwards. It would be passionate, aggressive, angry, hot and heavy, but Tae is a little bit of a masochist in bed so that's exactly how he likes it. He would probably get hard in the middle of her yelling at him and then push her against the wall to kiss her mid-sentence.

2. Jin

Surprisingly high on the list, I imagine Jin wanting to initiate makeup sex after arguing with his girlfriend as a form of an apology. Unlike Tae though, he hates relationship conflict and seeing her get upset or angry, so sex would be a way of showing her that he loves and cares for her, despite whatever they were arguing about. It would probably happen a few hours later or the next day rather than immediately proceeding the argument, and it would be gentle, giving, and affectionate.

3. Jungkook

Kind of a hybrid of Tae and Jin - he loves the passion and aggression of makeup sex, but he would also feel so bad for hurting her feelings that he would feel the need to earn her forgiveness. He would be SO good at, too, desperately trying to please her and give her what she wants. However, if it's a really bad argument over a major issue, he would rather distance himself for a few days to mull over his thoughts instead.

Makeup sex with Jimin would be more romantic and emotional rather than hot and sexy. It would have to be completely mutual though, if one person initiates while the other is even a tiny bit hesitant, it would feel awkward and ingenuine. And it's not that Jimin isn't capable of more aggressive sex, but I think he would prefer the feeling of being emotionally close to his girlfriend again after an argument.

It's not that Hobi wouldn't enjoy engaging in makeup sex, but he probably wouldn't be the one to initiate it. He's extremely mature in relationships, and I think he would rather talk everything through thoroughly and make sure he is in a healthy headspace first. I don't think he would turn it down if it's what his girlfriend need to feel better and closer to him again, though.

Despite being the horny boy Joon is, sex is a mental and emotional act for him, so it's unlikely that he would be interested in being intimate after an argument. In fact, he would probably need to spend a week ruminating alone before he's ready to make up with his girlfriend. If it's a silly argument and he's already in the mood, there might be a rare occasion where he engages in it for the experience.

7. SUGA

Absolutely not. Although Yoongi is generally nonchalant when it comes to sex (as in he'll give it to his partner whenever they want), he would find it inappropriate if his girlfriend tried to jump on him following an argument, much less initiate it. Like Joon, there is a mental component to sex for him, and he would rather reflect alone and solve the issue before he's able to get close with her again.

as you can see they have a very funny friend ship. jihye “acts” like she can’t stand haechan and haechan loves to be around and annoy jihye. it’s a very well balanced duo of i do say so myself. despite all that, they do support each other a lot and go out for lunches/dinners quite frequently and have random sleepovers with their 00’ liner friends whenever they can!

ive's jiwon (liz): the devil rx

might be the most nice out of all of the mentioned members in these 3 groups. she tries to show the most authentic side of herself - the good and bad. to me she's first because i appreciate the raw side more than anything. liz tries to be really pure with dives and her solo stans, so i can feel whatever she shows is genuine.

bts' jung kook: 6 of pentacles rx + 10 of cups

to me he is possibly the second most nice person out of these 3 groups, i feel so. jungkook is helping other people, sometimes even more than needed. this might make jungkook more naive than he really is like, but he actually loves to do that. he's very optimistic boy, very happy, there's only positive things i can see and feel. like i said before, a total sunshine. to you, he might be the most nice out of the members of these 3 groups.

enhypen's jungwon: 2 of cups

very communicative with people, he loves to get close with his audience and he actually cares for engene and not only them. it feels like he's someone who's willing to help even if he cannot to do it.

bts' yoongi (suga/agust d): knight of pentacles

very determinated to work what he loves! despite everything he's been through, suga loves to do music, beats and these things that are related to his idol job. suga is working for the feeling of the hobby itself and to him is pure admiration of the job itself. it makes him happy and if army and his solo stans are happy, like his work and so on, he'll be even happier. he lives for the job, it makes him happy and feel that there's purpose for his life. (compared to other people, i see suga has changed quite a lot and has grown up as a person. he'll do the same with his friendships and not only, the relationships with people)

he is pretty much a perfectionist. jimin's intentions to everyone are purely good but he tries to have the perfect friendships and etc. with people which sometimes isn't good because sometimes we have to get into any hardships. jimin seems to have this perfectionism as a habit. overall the vibes i am sensing are good but he has some traits that are hard to change.

bts' seokjin (jin): 2 of wands

since he got out of military recently, i see he tries to adapt. jin also seems really nice person, like without a doubt, but he has hard time with adapting and re-adapting. since i feel his thoughts rather than is he good or not, jin might not know either not because he did something but rather than the environment in hybe has changed too rapidly. jin seems to not be used into the corporation as it is nowadays.

enhypen's jake: page of cups

compared to jungkook, jake is also a bit naive. he might be a fool at times, but i sense he's not that experienced in real life for some reason. he might be introverted in some aspects and even have issues to communicate properly, but he's not as bad as some people might think. he's really nice person and might sometimes look like a lost puppy, but once you "get to know him", he's not that bad.

enhypen's sunwoo (sunoo): 5 of wands rx

also nice boy but doesn't like arguments. sunoo's very chill and hates quarrels. he'd prefer to either not take a side or give something to someone else just to not hear screams and feel bad. i am not sure if it's related to how he grew up in his family, though. this seems to be a side he has for some time.

bts' hoseok (j-hope): 7 of cups

he's also nice, like really nice. why he's low compared to his other members though for me is because he's extremely multi-layered. he's not only sunshine, he's not only the main dancer of bts. hobi has a lot to say, if you let him to do it. he wants to be raw and pure and just himself (to be as similar as liz) but considering his status and other circumstances, he cannot do that just yet. currently hobi is overthinking more than usual and if hybe just make him free to talk what he wants to say, he'll just do it, but just not yet..

bts' taehyung (v): the moon

even more multi-layered than j-hope. nowadays he is harder to get mainly because he wants to "break free". the freedom he seems to long for is rather related to his beliefs, they seem to be the main key. he feels too many emotions at once. why he's so high, though, compared to the other people, is because i sense this blockage is temporary and possibly because i've been in a similar situation before. he's not bad at all but he currently is going through a period that make him feel mixed. despite him being in the military, v seems to be around coworkers there that are trying to wake him up spiritually.

bts' namjoon (rm), enhypen's heeseung: 5 of swords rx

both boys are neutral to me. so, about namjoon, i see he's a bit better compared to heeseung. rm has been through a lot too but he seems to be in a "not this but not that" situation. heeseung on the other hand, i cannot sense much except that he might be currently really passive. heeseung seems to be harder to get. both boys are deeply in their thoughts and in different situations but they aren't as bad as they might be. currently they just are a bit harder to reach simply because they're overthinkers, especially bts' leader.

ive's gaeul, ive's wonyoung: 4 of pentacles rx

wonyoung is better to me. her mental health is so and so and that affects her a lot. despite how popular she is, wonyoung seems to get through the things in a odd way and it just cannot be explained by everyone. she's very generous and thankful for this lifetime but nonetheless she tries to be chill and to strengthen her mentality (psyche). gaeul on the other hand, my intuition said "uh she's so and so as a person". i don't have anything else to say.

enhypen's sunghoon: 5 of pentacles

he's currently getting through a lot and i am unsure where to put him. intuition-wise and through older readings, he's more introverted but despite that, he's also really nice.

from older readings i've sensed his personality differs a lot from most of the members, so that's why he's this down.

she's workaholic to the extent she doesn't think about anything else, like work is her only purpose. rei's "more nice" than yujin because she doesn't have ill intentions behind all of this and that's her way to cope with .. anything. i don't feel much for her too.

ive's yujin: king of pentacles

another workaholic to the extent her work is only on her mind. the difference is that she gets so obssesed over the work she has that she loses herself.

.. very passive person, more than heeseung if i have to compare with him. he's down here because this trait of his is prominent.

sometimes she's too brutal with her words. exteremely honest but also critisize a lot without working on herself for example. basically, she has traits that aren't good. i don't see she's manipulative but she has some work to do if she does want to change.
