Kajii’s notorious experiments don’t stop in the laboratory.

Kajii experiments with how many times he can make you laugh during important meetings. He thinks it's cute when your composure breaks, when you try to stifle your laughter with your hand. Yes, the meeting is important. Yes, both of you should be paying attention. But when you look so cute with your shoulders shaking and a wobbly smile, how is he supposed to pay attention to anything but you?

Kajii experiments with what spots on your body are the most ticklish. He ambushes you so often you’ve become a bit jumpier, but he still manages to poke at your ticklish spots. He positively lights up when you laugh and squirm, muscles spasming. He may rattle off an explanation on why your muscles are doing what they’re doing, but you’re laughing so loudly it’s probably drowned out. Careful, he might quiz you on his lecture later!! You know what happens if you answer incorrectly.

Kajii experiments with just how many kisses he can sneak in throughout the day. Ever the affectionate man, he peppers your face with kisses every time he catches you alone. Sometimes he’ll even do it in front of people, earning groans and general exasperation as you squeal for him to stop. You both know you don’t mean that, his affection is like the energy you need to finish the day.

Kajii experiments with the fireworks you two set off every week, tweaking the colors and the strength of the explosion. Sometimes you help him out, but he insists that the work stays mostly a secret from you. He pours love into his explosives when he makes them, but these are different. These are explosives for you, not the Port Mafia. Ew, now he’s getting all cheesy! Look at what you do to him.

Kajii experiments with your pulse. His fingers trail down your arm to press against your pulse point as he hugs you from behind, wrapping his arms around you. When you kiss his goodbye, his fingers brush along your jawline to find your neck’s pulse point. He relishes how it speeds up, thumping against his fingers, brimming with life and love for him. If he’s unexpectedly giddy every morning since he started doing that, don’t question it.

Concept: The Port Mafia learning about Kajii and his whole lemon bomb shtick for the first time.

This is based off a tik tok by @ thepandaredd where Nightwing finds out about Jason’s bomb helmet.

Kajii: You know I get the most distinct sense that you guys are judging me. And if you could just cut that out-

Chuuya: You had a bomb in your jacket?!

Kajii: My jacket is the only thing I wear with pockets. What would you rather I just strapped them to me?…Hmmm actually that’s not a bad idea.

Chuuya: Ignoring that for now. Why do you need a bomb?!

Kajii: We regularly face an Agency headed by a former assassin that has someone who can heal all damage they take. And you’re asking me why I needed a bomb?

Chuuya: Okay fair. But is it at least a small bomb.

Kajii: Yeah they’re the size of a lemon.

Hirotsu: How destructive are these bombs?

Kajii: I mean the street would still be standing if that’s what you mean.

Kajii: Listen I think you guys are really overacting about all of this.

Chuuya: You were carrying around explosive devices on yourself for months!

Kajii: I mean were is doing a lot of work in that sentence.

Kajii: It hasn’t been explicitly stated that I don’t have it.

Hirotsu: Are they at least hard to trigger?

Kajii: Incredibly unclear it could just be that they have to hit something. Maybe a push of a button.

Hirotsu: …You were around guns for months. We’ve been trying to shoot at you for months.

Chuuya: How is this the first we’re hearing about this?!

Kajii: I mean I was mostly planting em to blow up trains so it’s not like you ever saw me pull em out.

Chuuya:…I kicked you into a wall multiple times. We could’ve both just gone up in smoke man.

Kajii: Actually it would’ve just been you my bombs can’t hurt me. Well lemon shaped explosives to be exact.

There’s a finger poking at your leg as you stir from your light sleep. You groan, trying your best to ignore it as you roll over on your other side. A light giggle comes from beside you as the sheets rustle, and you can tell your partner is leaning over you when he cages you in his arms.

“Now, for my next experiment.” he chuckles, voice cherry and light and so endearingly expressive, “How many pokes does it take for my darling citrus to awaken?”

“I’m already awake!” you yelp as he jabs at your cheek, his laughter ringing loud and clear in the fresh morning.

“Well then, it appears the answer is forty-two.” Kajii teases, swooping in to kiss the cheek he cruelly poked, “Good morning, my darling citrus.”

“Morning, Kajii.” you mumble, unable to stop the smile on your face from growing.

“C’mon, up you go.” he flings the sheets off of his body, beaming like it isn’t super early in the morning.

Before you can say anything about the time, he grabs the other end of the sheet and rolls you up like one of those cinnamon rolls from the cafe down the street. You shriek as he pulls you on top of him, everything except for your face obscured by the sheer bedsheet. Your cheeks are puffed up in mock annoyance as you make eye contact with him.

And the world stops.

There was already something so hazy about mornings, something so delicate and soft, but when you look at the man in front of you that isn’t holding any of those feared bombs, that isn’t wearing those silly glasses you always make fun of him for, that isn’t draped in his infamous lab coat, you find yourself rendered speechless.

Despite his quirks and all the things people have said when you told them you two were dating, you adore this man. You love him so much and you cherish him wholeheartedly and wow, he doesn’t even know.

So you tell him.

“I love you.” you blurt.

He blinks at you owlishly before his face splits into a wide grin. Kajii throws his head back and laughs, kicking his legs out with pure, unbridled joy. He looks so full of mirth like this, and it makes you want to make him laugh forever.

“I love you too.” he giggles, darting in to smack a kiss against your cheek.

You dig your hand out of the bedsheets to cradle the cheek he kissed, and this time you don’t dare fight back your smile.

I remember reading Asagiri's explanation of why Kajii Motojirou has that ability but I don't remember where I did read it– But I swear it made me laugh a lot and love more the chaotic tiny thing he is!

It's more easy to find about his real life author than Hirotsu my poor little meow meow 😭 (Questionable character that I love a lot. A [poor] little meow meow has grey morality, traumatized, neutral or extremely evil)
