One of my favourite BSD merchs is this standee of the Lupin Bar trio from @kamapon

Dazai is such a cutie here and Natsume the cat is also at the back! I love the details and how Ango is anxiously looking at his friends, Dazai being his confident self, and Odasaku staring at his drink and probably thinking of the hangover the next day.

Kinda love the idea of Odasaku having been in love with Ango but not saying anything because Ango is a mafioso and Odasaku is a former assassin and a father that will one day leave the PM and Ango dosent need to be dragged down by him.

The thing is though, Ango loves him too but never says anything because Odasaku is a mafioso and Ango is a spy and Odasaku doesnt need to be even more dragged down by his eventual betrayal then he already will.

They are both each other's what ifs in short time when Ango is revealed and the orphans hadnt died yet. They sit there at the bar with Dazai between them - Dazai who had seen it all and didnt know until too late that they wouldn't have more time - and feel their hearts breaking as Ango tries to salvage things. He tries to, but when Dazai pushes Ango away then Odasaku does the same, because he loves Dazau too (though in a different way) and is loyal to him rather than a man that risk killing them all if they meet each other once more like they were then.

Neither ever got to say goodbye.

Ango helping Dazai run is a love letter to a man buried by the sea that will never get to read it.

I refused to end my trip without going to the real Bar Lupin and it was a glorious experience........ they even had a drink on the menu modeled after ango's tomato juice lmao 😭 BUT IT WAS SO COOL

headcanon that at bar lupin with ango and oda, dazai would often try and pet natsume. every single time natsume would obviously move away so that his ability doesn't deactivate but oda and ango thought it was the funniest thing in the world how the cat seemed to have a distaste to dazai.

safe to say, whenever dazai either found out or realised natsume was that damned cat he was pissed with all the jokes made about him from ango and oda.

or, may i propose dazai is at the bar one time by himself + cat natsume hanging around and he is determined to catch him. he chases the cat all around the bar as it jumps off of the shelves. they make sure to play this game of chase as the bartender isn't looking and as natsume jumps down, he just grazes dazai's finger and falls to the floor in his human form.

dazai isn't always a genius, proof being when he was dumbfounded when a grown man picked himself off of the floor and calmly walked out of the bar. dazai stood there stunned.
