Concept:

So with her ability being “And then there were none” I assume that Dame Agatha Christie is based off the stories mastermind Mr Justice Wargrave.

Which has some interesting implications on what her character may be like and her possible motivations for aiding Fyodor.

Both Agatha and Wargrave work in law enforcement in England. He was a judge while she’s the leader of the military agency, The Order of the Clock Tower.

And both are quite sadistic people. I mean Wargrave relished in the fear guilty parties felt when they were sentenced. While Agatha in Dead Apple remarks how the smell of a burning nation goes well with tea.

Wargrave’s motivation was his desire to commit an extraordinary murder and punish those who had gone unpunished for their crimes.

He gathered his victims to an island and killed then off one by one in accordance with a childrens nursery rhyme.

As one does.

I can see a world where Fyodor is the one to plant those seeds in Agatha’s mind. Seeing her desire for justice and appealing to her sadistic nature.

With both of them wishing to punish those they deem guilty. For Fyodor the guilty are the world’s ability users. Perhaps for Agatha it’s the Crowns enemies or somehow related to the Great War.

I’m not sure.

Though on that Verlaine did get away with almost killing the Queen so that could be a fun tie in.

There is also the matter of the One Order, a special ability weapon that grants the user control over a persons mind. And a weapon that was shipped to Japan by the Order of Clock Tower and subsequently fell into Fyodor’s hands.

So maybe Agatha’s true motivations for enforcing justice lay within overriding the will of others to enforce her own. In a similar vein to how Wargrave could seemingly sway whatever jury stood before him to his will.

Perhaps this mentality is why Agatha wants the book to begin with. To alter reality so that no guilty party goes unpunished.

Like how Wargrave had a poem that dictated how everyone on the island would die and made that narrative come to life.

It’s really interesting to think about how the story and the character could intertwine.

What if once she gets more involved in the story she goes against poe and ranpo? Imagine if she becomes their enemy? Think about how fucking amazing that would be seeing them fight? That would be one of the most epic things in bsd

short ramble but i can't be the only one who's going absolutely /crazy/ over the suspense for agatha christie's appearance, in bungou stray dogs right? (。_°)☆

(warning: spoilers, theories and my takes on her by the way !!)

i mean, she was introduced /so/ early on in the series (in the end of the third volume, chapter 12: rashōmon and the tiger) alongside dostoevsky and fitzgerald, in that order. fitzgerald was the first to make a proper appearance with the guild, before moving onto the currently on-going conflict with Fyodor and his many connections with numerous organisations, the rats in the house of the dead, the alliance with dazai and shibusawa during dead apple, the decay of angels, so on and so forth. it would only make sense that agatha comes next as the third, and potentially final, big antagonist of BSD.

so far, she's made minimal appearances, i've counted two times she was actually on screen, but each and every time she is /so/ cold with it. Just take a look at her first appearance, for instance:

quite clearly she's in a position of power and influence where talk of the pursuit of the book itself and a seven billion yen bounty tiger connected to it is hardly considered an 'adversary worth dirtying [her] handwear over.'

her second main appearance was in the dead apple movie and manga, chapter 14.2 while making a call to the special division for unusual powers (idk how to make scans and couldn't find any online past vol 3, sorry (シ_ _)シ):

HELLO?? essentially, 'my condolences for the current affairs and ongoings in your city (｡•́︿•̀｡), regardless, we'll be burning it down by sunrise d(^_^o)'

/clearly/ she's got a lot of influence in the world of abilities; especially considering how it's the order of the clock tower who was in possession of the one order—one of the three great calamities as a product of the great war, mind you—to be sent out to stop the vampire apocalypse in season 5. and agatha's a /dame/ in that organisation: a knight commander. she /has/ to be influential (｡ >艸<)

\\ another little note, and my personal speculation, but when ranpo stated at the meeting in episode 55 (season 5, episode 5): at the port in the sky, 3 minutes 24 seconds in:

‚The tyrant of Europe, the master of Gifted warfare, is still waiting.’

COULD RANPO MEAN AGATHA, BY CHANCE? /THAT/ IS A //CRAZY// TITLE. MASTER OF GIFTED WARFARE? IM SO EXCITED FOR AGATHA’S APPEARANCE !! \(≧▽≦)/ \\ now his wasn't explicitly stated to be agatha, but considering what we know of her now, i wouldn't doubt that it's her !! (>ᴗ•) !

crime and punishment was such a plot twist and fyodor is probably the most /insane/ antagonist we've seen yet, so how is agatha going to trump this? we've already seen fitzgerald banded together with the agency in the fight against the decay of angels so maybe agatha will too \\ (though fitzgerald already had his 'fight the ada' arc so, maybe not (ᵕ—ᴗ—) (っ- ‸ - ς)) \\ but her plot twist must be /In.Sane/ (๑꒪▿꒪)*

BSD Agatha Christie has to poison someone right? Like you CAN'T make an Agatha Christie-based character without including her knowledge of poisons somehow. Fuck she was so good irl she was able to INVENT a technique to poison people (source: https://time.com/4029233/agatha-christie-poison/). Just- hello?!

— Agatha was knighted at ~13 due to her efforts during the war and is currently around ~26-27.

— Her ability; “And Then There Where None” works by trapping its target in a “courtroom”; where the target is not allowed to lie - if they are found “guilty” , depending on the severity of their crimes; they either suffer extreme psychological distress after being released or it may “execute” the accused.

— She has a rather distorted view of justice; seeing herself as the jury, judge and executioner in one....

— This was influenced by her previous mentor; the previous leader of the Order; who recommended her to the position after retiring.

— She knows how to play the piano and is a classically trained pianist; much like the real life Agatha.

— She has a sadistic and cruel streak; much like Ex-Justice Wargrave; who I believe she will be inspired by; she might seem composed but her temper is like a ticking time bomb and when she has an opportunity to lash out; she will.

— She wears gloves due to being an extreme germophobe; she has multiple pairs in fact.

— Rather scientific minded and also has an incredible knowledge of poisons and plants over all.

— Fully detached from most people; tends to keep herself fully isolated and merely as a detached observer but this is partly and mainly related to seeing bonding with people as detrimental to her job of “upholding justice”.

— She dislikes Francis and Fyodor actually; though isn't above being cordial and holding back in her tongue due to seeing the benefit in working with them (and also to have a front row seat when she is able to take them down).

I was thinking about how Agatha planned to blow up Yokohama in Dead Apple, which seems REALLY extreme.

But then I remembered that Fitzgerald was planning to destroy Yokohama so he could find the book. And Agatha also wants the book...

I think Agatha was just using Shibusawa/the fog as excuse to destroy Yokohama so she could search for the book

Concept:

I know I’ve only seen them interact on that one phone call but Agatha and Fyodor just radiant exes energy to me.

Like they just give me we could’ve been such a power couple but there’s only room for one of us at the top.

And you’re fun but I’ll always choose myself over you.

They have a meeting and Fyodor poisons her tea while Agatha blows up his chair. And not once do they bring it up as they talk about other affairs.

Similar to Dazai and Fyodor but there’s is a chess match where Fyodor cares for none and Dazai’s always fighting for his friends.

Meanwhile Agatha and Fyodor fight only for themselves above all else and step into a song and dance that they will engage in for eternity.

Fitzgerald’s just glad he doesn’t have to sit in the same room as them anymore because they are insufferable.
