had a bit of fun last night and doodled a bunch of silly faces to which at this point I could very easily make one of those YouTube analysis videos...or something with full lip syncing.

I saw a post by @fizpup where she drew her ponysona in the three different pony types, so I wanted to try it myself.
my unicorn sona is Bright Star. Her personality is heavily inspired by twilight, someone who is very studious and has a fascination about the stars.
the earth pony sona is Bright Mineral. She is very inspired by pinkie's fun and bubbly personality and loves to talk about rocks (mostly where to find interesting rock shapes and formations).
and lastly the pegasus sona is Bright Gust. a lot like Fluttershy, she's a bit shy at first but will open up quickly if someone is friendly enough, or starts talking about the weather (especially thunderstorms and tornadoes).
this was a neat little project, I had a lot of fun! thank you @fizpup for the idea!

Happy Fourth of Fluttershy!
So while I was drawing this, anytime I made a mistake I had to stop myself from attempting to two finger tap the calendar to undo the line *note to myself get better at drawing....lines....✏📝*
hjfkdlsa actually that reminds me, earlier I found a drawing tip tiktok on my fyp aaa and I think it's very well explained in a way that just made sense to me
and while we're talking about tiktok, here's a commercial that popped up on my fyp that I remember seeing as a kid. I got excited because it had tips for Donkey Kong 64 and I wanted to see what they were (I genuinely don't remember what tips they had, but taking my best guess it was tips for things I had already figured out).
youtube
and I guess a similar thought train, Lunchables was doing a promotion where they had Donkey Kong 64 tips on these collectable "cards" that you cut out and had tips on the back side.
but what very much upset me about it.....the card for Chunky's talked about a specific move that you activated when you pushed A and B at the same time. I tried pressing just about every combination of A and B I could think of while trying to get inside one set of doors that never opens and that always bugged me because I was convinced that there was some sort of unknown secret hiding inside (9 year old me was so desperate aa). In retrospect.... it looks like whoever wrote these just made up all the names of the moves on the fly and I just took it literally
going back a tad, something I remember specifically about the Fruit by the Foot tips was they had the website "nintendo.com" on it and that prompted me to head to my local library (since I'm pretty sure my family didn't have internet just yet) and check out the website and that's where I discovered it had a treasure trove cove of cheat codes! (honestly a little something I miss). I could def make a whole post about how 90s and 2000s nintendo.com was for me as I would visit there practically every day finding cheatcodes and watching trailers for new games coming out aaa
also tiny note, but the past couple days I've been getting notifications on my phone anytime one of my world salads got a like and....aaa i never know how to explain this feeling but it's like yay i'm happy you like it but also i feel like i'm just spilling out whatever comes out of my head and I guess people like that?? either way i hope it makes your day in some way aaa

hulloooo!
Tiny Twilight also says hi!
this particular drawing I doodled one day during some downtime at work. ice been wanting to try and experiment more this year than in previous years. I have a tendency to draw my sona over and over and over all in the same few poses and almost always smiling, which while I feel I've gotten pretty decent at, it sorta gets old after a while.
here's another one I drew also during work downtime. I was feeling especially grumpy that day so I figured drawing myself as such would be a good excuse to practice that...and also reference Dan Vs (which I also bought the first season on DVD back in the day ^^;)
I guess also work related (funny how I tried to avoid talking about work but here I am doing it anyway aa) is this animation I did at the beginning of this year while experimenting with toonsquid on the iPad. I wanted to see how quickly I could make a full animation and I pushed myself a bit to make it look good as possible. my original goal was to post one animation per week, however I got caught in what I will call an infinite ambition loop. basically, I ended up having ideas that way surpassed my current abilities. I'm trying to find ways to manage my own expectations and try to set more realistic goals like trying to utilize more facial expressions and different body poses. so, we'll see how that goes.

happy twilight Thursday!
today is a work day and something I'm thinking about right now is, yes just because this may be a daily blog doesn't necessarily mean I need to go into full detail about how every part of my days go. otherwise I'd be ranting about work for a vast majority of these entires.
so instead I wanna talk about... retro 3D platformers
a while back I came across a game called Cavern of Dreams. it claims itself to be inspired by retro 3D platformers. it features low poly graphics and textures with simple lighting effects, reminiscent of late N64 games. the gameplay feels very much like if Conker's Bad fur day was lighthearted and wholesome. what's also neat is camera controls are more reminiscent of later games, Mario sunshine and Zelda wind waker immediately come to mind for me. I've gotten through the first part of the game and really loving it so far, and the controls are probably the best I've seen in a long time.
but while thinking about this, I sorta made a bit of a realization... growing up, games like this were referred to as adventure games instead of 3d platformers. heck, I don't think I've seen the term "platformer" until around the mid 2000s. even Mario games I think we're more well known as action adventure games, or Zelda games being a puzzle adventure. PC adventure games tend to be point and click games, which is vastly different than what consoles typically offered. I personally think that NSMB for the DS may be in part why we now make this distinction as the 2D Mario games play vastly different than their 3D games, notably being easier to pick up and play.
but while on this thought train, I sorta began to wonder what sort of similarities that 3D platformers from this era had vs a point and click adventure game. what I ended up deciding on was: exploration. point and click games, you topically make progress by exploring the world around you and finding clues and solving puzzles by exploring the environment and talking to npcs. 3d platformers is... actually kinda the same, while typically focusing on item collecting, many similar elements show up such as exploring worlds and finding ways to progress by interacting with the levels and different characters.
while on that thought about collecting items...
a lot of late 90s and early 2000s platformers would feature collecting a long list of items. one prominent example is donkey Kong 64, which tends to be known as the game that killed collectathons. I have some thoughts on but I'll save for another entry, but I guess I will say that calling such games a collectathon very much misses the point of what the game is actually about. is it a game where you are sent out into a level and made to collect all the random items scattered on the ground, or is it a game where you're friends have been captured and your hoard of bananas have been stolen and you must rescue your friends and recover your bananas in order to progress while learning new moves and meeting interesting creatures who either help you or try to intervene. I dunno about most, but I like the latter premise better. (or maybe I out much more weight on a storyline for a game as opposed to the gameplay)
I hope this entry wasn't too hard or confusing to read, I guess I'm mostly rambling and jotting down bits and pieces of what's in my mind when I get a couple minutes of free time.
uhm..
pineapples (I need a better way to end these aa)

Word Salad #3
Whee desktop keyboard instead of iPad this time! Gosh this feels much more comfortable to type on aa.
So today we went to check out a local gaming shop to browse around. I was primarily looking for a DualShock2 controller and a VMU for the Dreamcast, but sadly there wasn't any. Though I still love looking around for anything new that drops by...and mildly cry inside at how expensive everything has been getting.
We also had a spare TV just hanging out in storage, but it didn't have its legs as it was wallmounted previously. I stumbled on this kit that essentially adds new legs to a TV while at work. plus it still has traditional RCA (Component) ports as well as 3 HDMI ports so plenty of room to hook up everything.
Currently the old 360, PS2, and Wii are connected with Component cables, and the new 360 and PS4 are hooked via HDMI, and the N64 has a Rad2X HDMI adapter (which that is a whole story behind that aa). The main goal with this setup is I wanna have a nice cozy retro gaming area, along with being able to watch DVDs and BluRay movies. I definitely wanna get a nice speaker system setup someday too, but hey, baby steps.
Tho even while this whole setup looks neat, there is a bit of a flaw. This particular TV seems to have trouble with interlaced video and the PS1 mode on the PS2 unless I fiddle around with the connections and the settings, which is extra hard because we have no clue where the remote for this TV is (planning on getting a universal remote aa). Even then, another solution I'm looking into a RetroTINK 2x-Pro which should not only upscale everything but also adds scanlines for that retro look. However it's currently $140 USD so I'll have to tackle that much later.
Last part of this I wanna add, last night I found Paw being...Paw and quickly made a doodle. Note for myself, learn how to fur.
And that'll wrap things up for now. Tomorrow I have work for the next 4 days which practically takes up my entire day. Still unsure how I wanna handle those days but I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow aa
so...yeah

hi journal. it's been a long time.
today I was watching sonic x ..... but the sub version. a while back I tried the 4 kids dub but only got to episode 6 (or 5, I forget it's the one where eggman brings a robot to the school). honestly I feel more invested with the sub version, but we'll see. primarily I wanna see how it works in the sonic adventure stories, (which all I remember is a scene with e102 gamma and the finale part of the sonic adventure 2 story. we had this recorded on a VHS and watched over and over again, I liked seeing how different it was compared to the game.)
I've been trying to practice better drawing habits. things like using my shoulders instead of my wrists, or not holding the pencil too close to the tip. maybe I should get one of those pencil holders like I used back in school. the apple pencil feels heavier than I was expecting but the extra weight is nice at the same time strangely enough.
yesterday I practiced with using pencil pressure and doodled a twilight and then Fluttershy. I've also been trying to get a better habit of blocking out my sketches with simple shapes.
I also drew a racing snail today based on an old game idea from back in high school. I wanna try to expand a bit by drawing more than just ponies all the time. it's honestly kind of relaxing (tho annoying when after that I feel out of energy and motivation to draw more after that but...baby steps)
and I guess while I'm here....why am I writing this?
I wanna try to open up more a bit I guess? I wanna share a more genuine side of myself. try to write down my thoughts and feelings more in a place where I can look back and see where I came from? I'm giving myself a goal to do one entry per day for a week, and we'll see where we go from here.
uhm....
