A pop musician can reign well in his or her own homeland, yet how to proceed to the other lands? I am not sure of the rules here regarding this, though one does notice most of the musicians I mentioned ended up singing in other languages. Of course, the biggest irony then might lie in the fact their works in English don't match the success of their mother tongue. I mean, Hikaru Utada remains one of the blockbuster Japanese pop singers. She also has an American heritage, so her English pieces should receive some of her Japanese triumphs, yet this didn't happen. Sadly, I might add, cause her English pop has an intriguing proposition, i.e. she might've been close to what the prevalent mainstream during the times of Exodus was, but she put these characteristics through her own view.
