When Paul needs to blow off steam he goes to a club, he finds a pretty girl, buys her a couple of drinks and then fucks her in the bathroom. Â It works, it gets rid of the excess energy that burns up inside of him, it gets him out of his head and the only thing he thinks about is chasing that feeling. The euphoria that comes with the high.
Before that he pre-games, does a couple of lines off the glass coffee table in his apartment. Itâs a new batch, something his dealer cooked up, itâs supposed to be a better high. Â He feels it after the first line, it spreads through his body heightening his senses. His skin feels electric, a familiar tingle that vibrates through him. He thinks of you, of the way your body felt pressed against his at the Arthur Munsonâs party. Your wrists pinned above your head, his palm clasped over your mouth as he thrust his knee between your legs. Heâd wanted to go further, wanted to hike that dress up your hips and remind you that you were his. Only his.
He could feel his heart palpitating in his chest. It was like this sometimes when he took a little too much. There was a second line on the table, he couldnât seem to help himself. He snorted that one too, rubbing the back of his hand across his nose to wipe away the residue. He could hear Kevin, his wingman, clattering around in the bathroom, probably doing his own lines so he didnât have to share his stash. He usually had a couple of pills on him, Paul would try and bum one or two off him when he came out.
Theyâd been partying together ever since before Kevin met MeredithâŠ
Meredith who had turned up at the hospital, who was probably still there holding your hand. He didnât know how bad it was no one would tell him. Theyâd closed ranks around you in the aftermath, heâd sensed the fury simmering underneath them all despite the fact it had been an accident, one that youâd caused. Youâd gotten in his line of fire, a shadow in the dust cloud that had exploded through the wall. Heâd already fired by the time he saw the vest, heâd managed to stop himself from pulling the trigger a third time but by that point the damage was already done. You were down, struggling to breathe, your lips turning blue before you passed out.
He thought heâd killed you in that moment and instead of guilt heâd felt relief. Relief that you wouldnât go running your mouth off to your Captain, relief that this thing that burned inside of him every time he saw you, would eventually be extinguished, that it would die with you.
You hadnât died and neither had itâŠ
In fact, it was worse now. It was like a forest fire, eating him up inside, stealing away his functionality because as usual somehow you made everything worse. Now he was suspended pending investigation, he knew his blood test would pop positive. Heâd done a bump before he was called out to the raid, something to tide him over after what had gone down at the party. Heâd still been keyed up after that, the adrenaline, the frustration ratcheting through his system at the thought of being that close to having you, of being interrupted before he could take you the way he wanted. It would have changed everything he thought. In that moment heâd wanted to watch the fight drain out of you, heâd wanted to see that resolve break, wanted to see the exact moment that you realised you were his.
More than anything he wanted to see it again. He wanted to breathe in that fear, chase his pleasure, look into your eyes as he took everything from you, the same way you were trying to take everything from him.
His plans were changing, evolving. He didnât want to go to the club anymore. Instead he wanted to find you, to finish what heâd started, if it ended in a bullet, it ended in a bullet. At least youâd both know he owned you.
He felt that heat rush through him, it seared through his synapses drowning out everything else. At first, he thought it was desire, the first flush as his cock stirred in his jeans but then he started to sweat, he could feel it soaking through his shirt as his heart began to beat manically against his rib cage. His hands started to shake, he looked at them as the fingertips trembled, holding them up too his face before his stomach heaved and he vomited on the floor.
It took him a second to realise what was happening. Heâd taken too much. The euphoria was draining away and instead he was filled with an intense sense of anxiety. He tried to shout for Kevin, but words died in his throat, instead coming out like a wheeze as the pressure in his chest increased so greatly it felt like he couldnât breathe. The world tilted and he found himself slipping sideways until he was lying on the floor his limbs quivering, before he threw up again. He didnât even have the strength to heave, it simply trailed from his mouth as he twitched.
That was how Paul Russo died, alone and desperate in a pool of his own vomit.

Fugo shuffled through the last of the documents, making notes, and stacking them neatly to the side for Bucciarati to sign tomorrowâwell, actually in about an hour, Fugo realized. He had been working all night long, trying to keep himself distracted. He never slept wellâtoo many nightmares, but there was more to worry about now that he had people counting on him.
While Fugo may have passed Polpo's lighter test, the fact that his Stand was practically unusable had left him feeling somewhat obsolete and useless. Even though Bucciarati assured him that he would eventually get to know his Stand and be better equipped to use it, Fugo could hardly bear to look at the horrific creature, let alone try to figure out what to do with it. Purple Haze reminded him too much of what he felt like, what he truly was on the inside. This horrible, toxic disappointment who ruined everything he touched. He'd warned Bucciarati of that too, but the young man seemed insistent in taking Fugo on despite that.
Which was why Fugo was determined to be useful in some way. He knew Bucciarati had a huge workload, too much for one person, really, and today he'd come back so late from the meeting with Polpo and looked so tired that Fugo had decided to stay up and do the paperwork for him so he wouldn't have to deal with that tomorrow and nothing would be late.
He hadn't realized it would take all night, but it didn't really matter. He actually enjoyed it. It was better this, keeping his mind busy, than lying in bed plagued by nightmares that made him feel like he wanted to claw his skin off.
So, when Bucciarati stumbled out of bed, rubbing his eyes to try and pretend to be awake, Fugo had already made tea and coffee for them, figuring he might as well stay up the rest of the time.
"You finished all of this?" Bucciarati asked, bewildered as he looked at the considerable stack of papers on his desk.
"Yes," Fugo replied. "They are only awaiting your signature. I took notes on everything and I'll share that with you over breakfast if you would like so you don't have to read through them yourself."
Bucciarati looked completely shocked, but he gave Fugo a grateful smile. "You have no idea how helpful this is, Fugo. Thank you."
Fugo ducked his head but felt a warm, unfamiliar something shifting in his chest. Praise. For something he did purposefully to help someone. Someone that he genuinely looked up to. This was new. And Fugo decided he didn't mind the feeling.
However, he wasn't so stupid as to think it would last. He was sure that Bucciarati would only start to expect more and more of him until eventually nothing would be good enough. That was how it always went. But that was okay. Fugo was used to that and until that time, he would enjoy the feeling while it lasted.
XXX
"Fugo, could you please run an errand for me?" Bucciarati asked.
Fugo looked up, slightly groggy from a terrible night's sleep. Well, 'sleep' was perhaps inaccurate as he hadn't done much of that, getting up to work in the office halfway through the night after only horrid nightmares plagued him.
But he was always willing to do something when Bucciarati asked.
"Of course," he said.
"Thank you, I need you to take these to Signore Gallo. You know where his business is?"
Fugo nodded, and took the letters. He would have to go to the other side of town for this, but it was fine. These days, he was looking for anything to distract himâand distract Bucciarati from getting him to train with his Stand. Just the thought of looking at it made him want to vomit.
He delivered the letters and by that time it was around noon. His stomach growled sickly. He realized then that he had missed breakfast, having only a cup of tea, and he hadn't actually eaten that much the night before either. Fugo couldn't recall how many meals he'd missed within the last couple weeks. Certainly, with all the things he and Bucciarati had to do, it was rare they got to sit down for three meals a day, but Fugo had missed more considering his eagerness to work, or, on his worse days, his hiding away in his room at night when everything was done. On those nights, Bucciarati always left him a plate of food, but he always forgot about it the next day.
In the back of his mind, he knew this wasn't sustainable behavior, but he didn't know how to correct it, and, frankly, he didn't have time.
He promised himself he would eat something when he got back to the apartment.
Unfortunately, the second he was back, Bucciarati was already heading out the door, looking grim.
"What happened?" Fugo asked.
"There's a couple people who didn't pay protection this month. Polpo asked me to go make sure they do."
Fugo swallowed hard, knowing well enough what that meant. He'd gone on one of these missions before, and had been somewhat shocked at the cold interior Bucciarati possessed when he needed it, seeming far more seasoned than his young age would imply.
"You don't have to come," Bucciarati told him then, more quietly.
But Fugo blanched. "No! You'll need backup. This is part of the job, right?"
Bucciarati gave him a look Fugo couldn't quite read, but he nodded and the two of them left without a word, climbing into the car they were using currently.
The first one thankfully went without a hitch, the man simply handing over the money, claiming he had forgotten what time of the month it was. The second one though, did not take as kindly to them showing up, or to Bucciarati's threats.
"If Polpo thinks he can send a whelp and an actual child here to shake me down, he can climb his fat ass over here himself," the man growled.
Fugo bristled, but Bucciarati stepped into the man's personal space, eyes dark.
"Signore, I would suggest you do not insult my capo. Moreover, I am here in his place, and because of that I carry his authority. You should be grateful that he allows you to pay protection. I don't think you would like to find out what would happen if you didn't."
"I don't have the damn money," the man snarled. "Come back next week."
"I'm afraid I cannot do that," Bucciarati said. "Pay now, or lose Polpo's business."
"Good riddance," the man spat.
"I will pass on your message then. Enjoy your business for as long as it lasts."
They turned and left, but Fugo heard a shift behind them.
"Hold on a second."
Something grabbed for him, a hand snagging the back of his coat, and Fugo froze, horrid memories surfacing, ones he tried so, so hard to push down.
Purple Haze burst out with a wretched scream and Fugo watched Bucciarati stagger back from reaching out to help Fugo, eyes wide with shock.
The man screamed, the sound soon becoming garbled as Purple Haze grabbed him around the throat and infected him with the toxin. Fugo could only watch as the man melted before his eyes into a horrid puddle.
Fugo was breathing heavily, trying to even fathom what he did.
"Fugo," he heard Bucciarati's calm voice through the pounding in his ears.
He took another shuddering breath, dizziness suddenly assaulting him as he swayed on his feet.
Purple Haze thankfully vanished, and Fugo felt like something had released its hold on him. If it wasn't for the fact that he knew it had just been his own Stand, he probably would have thought he was possessed.
"Fugo? Let's get outside," Bucciarati said, still calm, opening the door.
Fugo took another deep breath and turned, slowly moving toward the door as if he were under water.
Bucciarati had already pulled out his phone and was calling someone, probably for a clean-up. Fugo just stood there, still not knowing what to do, his hands were shaking, he felt sick and light-headed.
"Thank you," Bucciarati said and slipped his phone back into his pocket. "Fugo, we need to go report this to Polpo before he hears it from someone else. You understand?"
Fugo felt the nausea cramp his stomach as he realized exactly what he had done. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean toâŠ"
"No, he attacked you first. You did what was expected," Bucciarati assured him.
But Fugo was shaking his head, still trying to figure out where he was. Bucciarati didn't approach him, but he did duck his head slightly to get a better look at his face. "Are you okay? Fugo?"
"IâI'm fine," Fugo said, but his voice was weak and he was feeling light-headed again. Another wave of dizziness crashed over him and he swayed.
"Fugo!"
Bucciarati's worried voice was the last thing he had heard before he felt himself falling, a hard impact slamming him into the darkness completely.
XXX
Fugo woke to someone pressing something to his forehead and then felt fingers removing his tie and loosening his collar.
Terror spiked through him and he reached up, grabbing the wrist attached to the hand, eyes flying open.
"It's all right, it's just me, just Bruno," Bucciarati's voice filtered in, despite the fact that Fugo's sight was swimming until he blinked and got a breath in. "I'm just making sure you can breathe."
Fugo took a shuddering breath and finally his eyes cleared, seeing they were back in the apartment. He was lying on the couch and Bucciarati was kneeling beside it, a wet cloth held in one hand.
"What" he murmured, trying to recall what happened.
"You passed out after Purple Haze took out that man," Bucciarati told him, reaching out to lay the cloth over Fugo's forehead again, the cool feeling helping to ease some of the headache pounding behind his eyes. "Was it very overwhelming to summon your Stand or, was itâŠeverything else?"
"IâŠI don't know," Fugo swallowed hard, not wanting to talk about it.
Bucciarati reached for a glass of water and helped prop Fugo's head up to drink. He gulped down the water, realizing then just how thirsty he was.
"Easy," Bucciarati said. "You might make yourself sick."
Fugo's stomach gurgled and he flushed in embarrassment, pressing a hand over his belly, hoping to quell the nausea.
"Are you hungry?" Bucciarati asked with his eyebrows pinched. "You didn't eat anything today, did you?"
Fugo glanced away, but shook his head.
"Did you eat last night?"
"A little," Fugo murmured.
Bucciarati sat back on his heels. "I have noticed that sometimes you don't eat the food I leave for you. Are you eating much at all, Fugo? Because, if I'm being honest, you're looking a little thin. I couldn't help but notice that when I carried you in here."
Fugo didn't know what to say. This was such a stupid conversation that they really shouldn't've had to have. He should know that he needs to eat.
And yetâŠhe had been neglecting that. As well as sleep. It's no wonder a little adrenaline had sent him over the edge.
Bucciarati silently got up and returned a few moments later with a bowl of heated up soup and crackers.
"You might not feel up to eating, but you need to try to get something into your stomach," he insisted.
Fugo pushed himself into a sitting position, mostly not dizzy anymore. He carefully wrapped his hands around the bowl and drank some of the broth. It was hard at first, but after a few sips, his stomach got used to having food in it and by the time he was done, he was warm and felt better.
Bucciarati sat on the coffee table. "I know I forget sometimes too. I have a bad habit of getting busy, not sleepingâI think we're both a lot like that." He smiled wryly. "But just because we have a lot of work, doesn't mean we need to run ourselves into the ground. While it's still only the two of us, let's share the work equally. That means no more working through the night. For either of us."
"I know, I justâŠI want to be useful," Fugo admitted tiredly.
"Fugo," Bucciarati told him firmly. "You do not have to earn your keep here with me. I value your intelligence above all else. You help me every day just by being here. Take your time to learn about your Stand and if anyone pushes you to do differently, I will have a word with them personally."
Fugo felt that swell of warm gratitude wash through him again and this time, he didn't allow himself to be jaded about it. Bucciarati was not like his parents. Not like everyone else who expected everything from him and when he gave it, only wanted more. He had never had a real friend before, but he thought he could call Bucciarati that. He had a feeling that Bucciarati would never expect more from him than he knew he could give. There was a reason he was the only person in the world who made Fugo feel safe.
"Thank you," he found himself saying sincerely.
"Of course, Pannacotta," Bucciarati said softly, using his given name.
Fugo promised himself then that he would do better. Better by himself, and in that way, he would also be able to do better by Bucciarati.

Julie had been gazing at the sky for hours now. The warmth of midday had long drawn away and it was now starting to get dark. She had noted all of the shapes she had seen in the clouds in her notebook: a butterfly, a chair, a house, an ice cream cone, and many more. She had sworn she had seen a rainbow somewhere in the distance, but it hadnât rained in some time.Â
The clock at the center of town chimed and Julie jumped with a start, she hadnât realized it was 6 oâclock already. She grabbed her phone, bag, and notebook before unlocking the combination lock on her bike and taking it off the rack.Â
Riding back to her house, she kept noting clouds, scissors, a guitar, and a light bulb, before seeing an airplane soar overhead. She passed many shops along the way, waving to her classmates as they studied outside of a cafe. Already, she knew the way back to her house: left, right, left, left, stop sign, past Carries gated house, and down two hills. Julie pulled into the driveway, tossed her bike on the ground, unlocked the red front door, and ran up the stairs. Her bedroom door whipped open and she dropped all over her stuff on her desk unceremoniously before sitting down at her computer.
It was 6:23.Â
She sighed and threw her head back, realizing she had missed the premiere of her favorite show, hopefully it would be uploaded to YouTube soon. She got up and watered the plants on her windowsill before she heard a loud bang from below.
Julie opened her curtains and looked down to see her neighbor and friend fixing their fence. The divider had long been in disrepair, but no one really cared enough to fix it. Yanking open the window she yelled down, âFlynn! Why are you, of all people, doing housework?â She had known Flynn long enough to know that the other girl wouldnât do anything requiring physical work if her life depended on it.
Flynn looked up and waved, her cornrows whipping around her face, âHey! Youâre back!â She dropped the hammer, narrowly avoiding her sneaker clad food, seeming to forget about her work, âIâll be right up.âÂ
After moving a few months ago, Julie had become quick friends with Flynn when she realized that their bedroom windows faced each other. At first, it had been a little weird; Julie could see almost all of Flynnâs blue room if her curtains were open, and she was sure the same went for her. But after they got over the initial awkwardness, the two were like super glue. They would spend all day chatting about nothing and everything. Flynn had turned out to be one of Julieâs saving graces; she was caring and was always supportive of whatever she wanted to pursue. Julie pulled her silver desk chair to her window and waited until Flynn had done the same.
âYou were out all day and you didnât bring me back a slice of cake from Tiaâs Bakery? I missed my brother's baseball game for that!â Flynn laughed, propping her feet on the windowsill.Â
Julie rolled her eyes, âThat wasnât the first thing on my mind as I rushed out the door this morning. Anyways, the frosting would have melted, itâs not as if I carry around a refrigerator.âÂ
Her phone rang loudly, her ringtone âGrenadeâ by Bruno Mars filling the space. She silenced it, already knowing that she didnât want to talk to the caller at the moment. Her face dropped; every day she dreaded the conversation, not because of the caller, but because of the situation.
She shook her head, wishing the thoughts away before racing to get her twine tied notebook and pencil that she brought with her to the park. She tossed them over the gap between the houses to Flynn, who opened it and started reading todayâs findings aloud.
âFootball, dog, lion,â Her brows furrowed, âSuperman? Are you sure? Or did you just really wish it was?â A smirk pulled at her lips.Â
âMaybe it could have been a bird or a plane, but you never know.â Julie shrugged.Â
Suddenly, Flynnâs eyebrows shot to the sky. She jumped up and rushed to grab a sheet of paper from her book bag, âOh! Oh! Look! Look at this!â She waved it around wildly and jumped around, almost too fast for Julie to see, but she did make out the big red 97 on it.
Julie shot up from her chair, almost tripping, âYour math test! Oh my god! You aced it! I knew you would!â
âOnly because you,â Flynn pointed at her, âHelped me with polynomials after I talked your ears off!âÂ
Julie rolled her eyes, but had an ear splitting grin âYeah, yeah, you would have gotten it eventually, you just needed a little push.â
After calming down, the two then launched into conversations about their days until it was too dark to see each other. They would bounce off each other with flying force, her father had said it was impossible to keep up.
Flynnâs family had arrived home and she had to leave, promising to talk tomorrow morning as she gave Julie back her notebook. Julie picked up her phone, calling her silenced call back. He picked up after the first ring.
âI was wondering how long itâd be before you got back to me.â The other person said.Â
Julie smiled sadly as she started tidying up her room, âI wouldnât miss it for the world, Luke.âÂ
Ever since she moved, her and her best friend had promised to call each other everyday and report on the shapes of the clouds they saw. Some of her favorite memories were of her and Luke spending hours laying in the grass, just wasting time. Maybe it was an attempt to hold on to each other, even when she was half way around the country. Clouds were something that stayed the same, yet always changed.Â
âWhat shapes did you see today?â
She heard a rustling of paper over the speaker, âI saw a couple ghosts, a pair of pants, a school building, and a car. I didnât really get a chance to look too much today.â He replied. She could imagine him dragging his finger across the page; a habit he never broke after elementary school
Julie laughed, âA school building, not just any other building? Not a factory? Not an office?â
âNo, no, no, it was specifically a school. It was dark and gloomy and somehow square. You would have said the same thing.â
âI somehow doubt that.â Julie moved to flop down on her bed, she sat for a second, thinking about what she would have seen in the so-called school cloud. She suddenly became more homesick than ever; she wished she could have been there, with Luke.
She wished she could be anywhere with Luke, she thought. Her face flushed as she pushed the thought away. They sat in a comfortable silence for some time.
Luke cleared his throat, âHowâd Flynnâs test go?â
Julie grinned as she shot up, sitting straight up on her bed, âShe killed it! Stabbed-it-in-the-heart killed it, set-fire-to-it killed it, absolutely bulldozed it!â She grabbed a pillow and hugged it. Julie appreciated that Luke listened to her about her new friends, but he rarely talked about his friends.Â
âOf course she did, with a math wiz like you to help, how could she not!â He snorted, âAlthough should we start worrying about all of those violent metaphors?â
âI think we should be more worried that I have metaphors.â Julieâs smile turned into a wince. Sometimes she didnât think before she spoke; probably a trait she picked up from Luke.Â
Luke groaned, âWhat does that even mean? At least itâs nice to know that your bad comebacks havenât changed.â He paused, hesitant, almost as if he knew what he was about to ask already had an answer.Â
âHave you played any music yet?â
He was right, they both already knew the answer to the question.
âNo.âÂ
Julie hugged the pillow tighter to her.
There was no explanation, none was needed.
There was a pause as Julie changed the subject and picked at the loose strings on her pillow. âI went to the park for most of the day, like we used to do. The weather was nice enough, kinda chilly, and I probably saw more shapes than I could count. You probably would have seen so much more. You were always more imaginative.âÂ
Luke chuckled, she knew he was rolling his eyes, âWe both know thatâs not true. We work best as a team, even if we are 2,789 miles apart.â
Julie had wanted to tell him that she wished she could go back home, even for a day, but she knew it would have only made things worse. She would end up crying again and he, ever wonderful, would comfort her, saying that theyâd see each other soon. They both knew that was a lie. She didnât know if sheâd ever see Luke again.Â
She heard the door open downstairs as her father came back from work. âI gotta go, youâll call tomorrow?â She rushed out and hopped off of her bed, throwing her pillow down.
âYeah, always.â He replied, she could hear his soft smile. Keeping with their routine, he said, âIâll see you soon.âÂ
âIâll see you soon.â She sighed.

Beyond a Chance
So yeah fellow people, hereâs my Tom Hiddleston x OC story (totally inspired by the fact that maybe I had a crush on Loki during the series). Anyway, hope you guys enjoy it, There you have the main plot and first chapter under read more.
After a long struggle for a dream, Yasmim Gomes gets the big chance she's been waiting for, she just didn't expect that chance would also bring a love in the form of her co-worker.
Far from Home
The sun that invaded Yasmine's face in the morning was no more blazing than Santa Fe's had been, a constant reminder that another day had begun and she was still in Los Angeles.
In reality, the weather was very little different from her hometown, but when she was away from it for so long, the small differences became more and more stark.
Although she was used to the environment there, homesickness tightened her heart. Yasmim was another foreigner pursuing her dream in another country.
She had grown up in Santa FĂ© do Sul, a small Brazilian town that was right on the border between the states of SĂŁo Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. From an early age, it was amazing how fascinated she was with television and cinema, and with the stories they told. Actors were her heroes, she was curious to know how one person in real life was transformed into another through the TV or movie screen.
It was then that her big break came, at age 6, she acted in her first school play, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", in the role of Sneeze. Everyone around her knew it wasn't a big deal, but she did her best to sneeze as correctly as possible. Still, she caught the public's attention for her disciplined and cute way at the same time.
Thus, her years at school were marked by her difficulty in math and her aptitude for the arts, achieving at least three prominent roles in all of the 20+ plays she participated in at school. It was clear to her family that this was what she wanted for her life, which worried her parents.
"Being an actor is very difficult, for this to work, you need to appear on television, convince the bigwigs and then earn some money" Pedro's advice speech to his daughter always revolved around these words.
"I know, but it's the only thing I'm good at," insisted Yasmim, bearing in mind that she's tried other jobs, like babysitting and secretary, but that's certainly not what she wanted.
"If that's what you want, then you need to go further and further, and we'll try to help you as we can" Teresa, her mother, decided to give her a chance.
"That's what I'm going to do, you'll be proud of me, mom, I promise" was the promise that Yasmim made.
With the savings she made from other jobs, she invested in a performing arts course in another city bigger than her own. There, she befriended Aline, with whom she shared a small house, the other girl was just aspiring math, which Yasmim found a hell of amusing irony.
In the years that followed, she devoted herself to several auditions that were appearing on television, but she never passed any tests, despite all her dedication. After accumulating thousands of frustrations, she decided it was time to make a decision, or give up or try something different.
Aline was the one who supported her in not giving up and helped her in whatever way she could. She knew Yasmim's siblings, Helena and Bruno, also asking them for some action they could do. Helena had acquaintances from an agency in SĂŁo Paulo, who decided to take charge of her younger sister's career.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, we know you've been pursuing a career for some time and we'd like to help you with that" the agency director said "but we want to make you a proposal."
"Proposal? What kind of proposal?" She was hopeful, but suspicious.
"We have partners in Los Angeles, who are willing to help you, we pass some of your material to them and have committed to take care of your career, it's up to you now, whether you accept it or not" the director made it clear.
"Wow, that's... Kind of sudden and a big deal, no doubt, but... I really need to think for a while," was Yasmin's temporary response.
The director understood her and gave her the time she had asked for. So she ran to talk to her family again.
"Moving to another country is a super risky step" Yasmim put the cards on the table "I can be discriminated, have difficulty with the native language, to adapt..."
"But the flame of your dream is still super lit, isn't it?" Bruno, her younger brother played with her, it wasn't the first time he called her dream "flame lit".
"Yes, I still feel it's my calling..." She ended up giving in.
"So, give this opportunity a chance and in case something goes wrong there, we'll be here to welcome you with open arms", said her father with all the love and affection.
"Thank you dad, thank you to everyone" Yasmim replied emotionally "I'm going to Los Angeles then."
Her family and friends said goodbye to her then, wishing her all the luck in the world, with all the love and affection.
That year she moved in, she turned 29, alone in her small rented apartment, video calling with her family while eating a chocolate cake she had made herself. It was strangely nurturing and lonely at the same time.
The following years were marked by plays, every opportunity to audition, there she was. With these jobs, she made a few more friends and paid her rent, but despite the good things, everything still felt very uncertain. Most of the time, it was hard to fight anxiety and doubt that things would really work out.
As now, the hot sun invited her to get up, even though she missed her parents, her siblings, even though everything was uncertain. She made her coffee, sipped it while reading the morning news, and then prepared a monologue as a practice for the next audition that might come up.
After hours of talking in front of the mirror, she took in her reflection, her 34-year-old pictured there, the light curly hair framing her face, the vivid dark brown eyes, the round-tipped nose, the thin lips, the dark skin. She decided to smile, needed to keep the spirits up there.
"I can't give up" repeated Yasmim once more "one day everything will change."
Though thoughtful, she smiled again. It was an actor's habit to talk to themselves, it could only be. It was proof that, despite the difficulties, she was an actress, waiting for the next audition.

*Listen to Bruno Majorâs Just the Same while reading. Itâll help.
Seth Rollins x Blind OFC
Warnings: Language, may cause tears....
Word Count: 2000+
Summary: Seth was Lilyâs world, she was foolish enough to think that she was his. That is until he leaves her behind in pursuit of his dreams. What happens when fate throws them together again years after the heartache and tears? How can Lily see past the pain of the past when she canât see at all? Â Â
+++
âWait, I donât understand, Renee calls you in the middle of the night saying âHe needs youâ and they expect you to just, what? Drop everything youâre doing to go coddle Seth?!â Amanda asked, beyond pissed off. Lily sat on the bed while Amanda paced back and forth in her hotel room.
All she could do was nod. She didnât trust herself to speak. She felt the bed sink next to her. Amanda could see the inner struggle she was currently having, she pulled Lilyâs head into her lap, running her fingers through her red hair. She bent down a little, kissing her temple.
âTalk to me, sweet pea.â Amanda whispered, âtell me whatâs going through that precious little head of yours.â
Lily was quiet for a while, the room silent with only her iPhone quietly playing her favorite music. Something she did when her nerves were getting the best of her. A ritual that started when Seth left to help her cope with the pain.
Lily wasnât sure how to answer that though. Truth be told she didnât know how to feel. There was a war raging inside her right now. Part of her wanted to stick both middle fingers in the air and tell Seth to suck it but then that bleeding heart of hers wanted to pull a Kool-Aid Man and burst right through the wall and take care of him.
All of the sudden, she clenched her fists, anger coursing through her veins. Bitter tears fell from her eyes.
âWhat right do they have asking so much of me?!â She sobbed. âI mourned our relationship already, I-Iâve moved on. Iâve... Iâve-â Lily felt like the room was closing in on her, she was gasping for air, was it hot in here?! She started shaking, falling to the floor.
âLily! Oh my hell! Baby, calm down!â Amanda said, trying to pull Lily up, but her hands were pushed away as Lily crawled til she felt the corner of the room. She pulled her knees to her chest, burying her face in her arms.
With tears of her own, Amanda watched helplessly as her best friend sobbed uncontrollably in the corner. Not knowing what to do, she simply sat in front of her and waited til Lily calmed down. She sat there for 47 agonizing minutes.
âI.... Iâm not strong enough.... I...â Lily was about to say something she hadnât admitted to anyone, perhaps not even to herself. Something she tried to keep buried.
âIâm still in love with Seth.â She said sadly, her voice barely above a whisper. âI donât think I ever stopped loving him.â
Amanda couldnât take it anymore, she pulled Lily into her arms and held her.
âI know, baby, I know. Iâve known you basically my whole life, I know what youâre thinking 99.9% of the time.â She mumbled against Lilyâs hair. âAnd whatever you wanna do, I will support you all the way.â
Lily was silent for a while. Could she open herself up to him again? What was to stop him from throwing her to the wayside again? Would he even be happy to see her? How would she react once they were reunited? Â As if it was some sort of sign, Bruno Majorâs âJust the Sameâ Â started playing.
âSo do your worst to me             Test my loyalty             I will pass with distinction of first degree             I lost my mind to you             Somewhere down the line that you drew             But I only have myself to blame             Cause I still love you just the sameâ
There was one thing she knew for sure; she couldnât do this alone.
âWill you come with me?â
âAbsolutely.â Amanda answered without hesitation.
â-
Roman and Dean were watching Renee fiddle with random shit around Deanâs dressing room. She would be lying if she said she wasnât a nervous wreck.
âDoll, youâre gonna wear holes in your heals you keep walkinâ around like that.â Dean said, pulling her into a bear hug.
âHow do you expect me to be?! All she said was âohâ then hung up!â She said into his shirt. They couldnât blame her tho, this was a huge bomb they dropped on her.
âWhat if she doesnât come?â Roman asked.
âWeâll need to come up with a plan B.â Dean answered. All of them froze at the sound of Reneeâs phone vibrating. She quickly snatched it from her purse.
âI donât recognize the number.â She mumbled.
âIt might be her calling from a hotel or somethinâ, just answer, but put it on speaker.â Dean urged.
Taking a deep breath she answered her phone.
âHello?â
âRenee?â It was a somewhat familiar voice, but Renee couldnât place where she had heard it before.
âWhoâs askinâ?â Dean butt in. There was a sigh on the other end.
âOh for shitâs sake. Itâs Amanda, Lilyâs friend, remember, you called me when Seth nearly destroyed her? She doesnât know Iâm calling but I just wanted to give you a heads up. Sheâll come. But, if things turn south or, heaven forbid, Seth hurts her again, we are gone!! You lose her number, you leave her life. Understand?!â
The three of them looked at each other. Seeing as she left no room for argument, they nodded to each other.
âUnderstood.â Renee answered.
âLook... Just, handle her delicately. Sheâs, sheâs not the Lily you remember, sheâs changed.â
Roman, who had been silent this entire time, finally spoke up.
âWeâll take care of her, rest assured we wonât let anything happen to her.â
âGood, because weâre about 20 minutes from the arena. So strap in, kiddies, shitâs about to get real.â
The line went dead. They just stood there staring at the phone, then each other. A silent prayer in the air.
âWell shit.â Dean said.
â-
âI canât believe you bought backstage passes.â Lily grumbled, arm linked with Amandaâs, as they walked the hallways of the arena.
âWell what did you have in mind? Jump over the barriers and tackle Seth to the ground?â Amanda answered, her words dripping with sarcasm.
Lily furrowed her brows, rubbing her forehead.
âYou ok baby cakes?â Amanda asked, concern evident in her voice.
âYeah, just a lot of new scents, top that with my raging nerves and Iâve got the perfect headache.â
Things were going smoothly, but as the saying goes, it was the calm before the storm.
âOh my gosh, youâre Amanda Palmer!â
âCan I get a picture?!â
âItâs Amanda Palmer!!â
Dozens of excited voices clouded Lilyâs hearing. And everything snowballed from there. People started smothering the two girls causing them to get separated as a crowd started to gather. Lily stumbled backwards into one body after another. Clutching her cane she walked until she felt a wall. She could hear Amandaâs voice trying to be friendly to her fans but trying to politely excuse herself.
Lily was finding it impossible to breath. Out of sheer panic she just started walking trying to catch her breath. As she rounded the corner, she stumbled into something, falling to the floor. She frantically felt for her cane and glasses.
âAre you lost, little lamb?â An eerie voice said close to Lilyâs ear.
She scurried backwards, hitting her head against a crate in the process. Â She winced in pain, her left hand grabbing the back of her head. She then heard three more sets of footsteps joining the mystery man. Â
Bray, Luke, Erik and Braun stood there staring at the shaking redhead.
âIt seems this sweet dove has lost her way, brothers. What do you say we help her find her wings?â
It was then that Luke saw Lilyâs cane and glasses scattered on the floor. Putting two and two together, he quickly nudged Bray, directing his attention to the items. Erik was the first to spring into action, scooping the small woman in his arms, setting her on her feet while Braun gathered her things.
âAre you ok?â Erik asked gently. Lily was so confused by their sudden change of attitude but remembered where she was. She remembered late nightâs sitting with Seth as he explained WWE to her and the wrestlers with their on screen characters.... oh how she missed those nights.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she felt thumbs running across her cheeks, she hadnât realized she started crying. She felt a rough hand open her palm and place her cane in it, closing her fingers around it and her glasses placed on her head.
âThank you.â She mumbled, wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand. She pulled her glasses from her head and put them in her purse.
âOh my dear, I hope we didnât scare you too badly. We were just havinâ a little fun. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bray, the Eater of Worldsâ she felt Bray take her hand, placing a small kiss on the back of it, âand these are my brothers Luke, Erik and Braun. We are the Wyatts. And what might your name be, my lovely Lamb?â
It all registered with her! She vaguely remembered Reneeâs mentioning a feud between the Wyatts and the Shield. Letting go of a breath she wasnât aware she had been holding, she gave them a smile and opened her mouth to answer him.
âLil-â
âLily?!â
Lilyâs head snapped towards the sound of Romanâs voice. She immediately reached her hand out in the direction of his voice. Roman took her small hands in his and pulled his little sister into his arms, holding her as tight as he could. He had missed her so much and would visit her every so often.
âWell, brothers, it seems our little lamb has found her shepherd. Weâll be on our way. Reigns.â Bray said, tipping his hat to Roman as they left him and Lily to catch up.
âIâve missed you so much, Ro!â She said through her tears.
âMe too, baby girl, me too.â He murmured into her hair. He pushed her back a bit to get a better look at her. She had grown in those past years, her beauty blossoming more so. He hadnât thought that was possible. Her hair was longer, her body a little more curvy but what caught his attention most were her eyes... they had lost some of their light. He felt his heart twinge a little. He kissed her forehead, trying to stop himself from scooping her up and hiding her from Seth.
Just then, Dean and Renee came around the corner but stopped at the sight in front of them. Renee dropped the papers from her hands and ran towards the hugging pair, Dean hot on her heels, wrapping her arms around Lily from behind and Dean threw his arms around the whole group. In that moment, all felt right with the world..... but, as many would attest, good things donât always last.
â-
âListen, kid, I love you like a son, but youâre becoming a liability. So you have two options, get your shit together and get your head back in the game or Iâll have to suspend you.â Hunter said, sitting behind his desk across from Seth. âSo, what will it be?â
Steadying his breathing, Seth simply muttered that heâd do better. On the inside he was raging, wanting nothing more than to punch a hole through the wall.
Both men shook hands and Seth left the office. He walked down the halls, fuming. He was still angry that he had to disband the shield, he was mad that he lost the title, he hated that Lily wasnât a part of his life but what pissed him off the most was that he had no one to blame but himself for her not being here. Whoever was his opponent tonight was in for a world of hurt.
âStop it dumbass, one more slip up and Hunter will suspend you!â Seth berated himself.
Sitting in a vacant chair in the hallway, he laid his head in his hands, as Lily consumed his thoughts. What he wouldnât give to have her gentle body against his, tangled in each other, to feel her soft lips, to get lost in her beautiful eyes, to feel her careful fingers on his skin, to hear her soothing voice. Why had he been such a foolish asshole?! He never shouldâve given her up. Looking back now, he wouldâve been happy working some lame 9 to 5 job knowing that heâd come home to her every night and wake up next to her every morning.
âYou ok man?â Seth was brought out of his thoughts by Xavier Woodsâ question.
âUm, yeah, just not feeling 100%.â
âMigraines again?â Woods asked while adjusting his gear. The two had grown close over their shared love for gaming. Xavier was the only person outside of Roman, Dean and Renee, who knew about his past with Lily.
Dragging his hands over his face, Seth mumbled âSomething like that.â
The two began walking towards the gorilla when Seth stopped dead in his tracks. He could hear Xavierâs voice in the background asking what was wrong. Everything was a blur, time seemed to stop and speed up all at once. He was brought back to reality when Xavier shook him by the shoulders.
âSeth! What the hell man?! Whatâs wrong with you?!â Woods asked, his voice riddled with worry.
Silently Seth raised his arm, and with a shaky hand he pointed a finger towards a group of people, uttering a single word through trembling lips.

AURORA on tour in Brasil: âIâll test out more intimate songsâ
Interview: Aurora for Capricho by Bruno Dias (September 7th, 2017), translated by Nikol.
Norwegian singer will tour Brazil for the first time in October passing through SĂŁo Paulo, Salvador, Curitiba, and Rio de Janeiro.
Aurora Aksnes, or just AURORA, is one of those prodigious artists that music occasionally blesses us with. At the age of 18 she broke UK singles charts with the song âRunawayâ. It didnât take long since that for realising her second single âRunning With The Wolvesâ which has got praise from the British NME and was played a lot on BBC radio.
In 2016 All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend came out, an album which allowed AURORA to travel to some of the major European and U.S. festivals, and perform at American TV shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The same year appeared to be very generous with Aurora whose beautiful version of Life on Mars by David Bowie was chosen by Lena Dunham for one of the episodes of Girlsâ last season. Scene not only paid tribute to Bowie but also made fans of the series feel excited.
youtube
Now itâs a Brazilians turn to be enchanted by AURORA who, at the age of 21, disembarks in Brazil for the first time with All My Demons tour which will take place in Salvador (October 16th), Curitiba (October 18th), SĂŁo Paulo (October 20th and 21st), and Rio de Janeiro (October 22nd). âCaprichoâ spoke to the singer on the telephone about her new album and first visit to Brazil.
CAPRICHO â Brazilian fans are very passionate and intense. What do you expect from the fans on your first tour in Brazil and what can they expect from this first visit to our country?
AURORAÂ â From my side, fans can expect lots of emotions, lots of energy and lots of love because I have much love for you. Thanks to my fans, I have such a chance to visit Brasil because of people liking my music. I've never been to Brazil before, so I canât wait getting to know everything, feel the energy, and meet people, especially my own fans. I'm hoping to receive a lot of love and I guarantee that I will also spread lots of love.
You have a sold out show here, in SĂŁo Paulo, and because of that you even announced new dates, as well as an extra show in SĂŁo Paulo. Was that a surprise for you?
It's good to think that my music reaches people so far from here [Norway]. And that's the most interesting thing about music, isnât it? It belongs to all places, belongs to all people. It's very interesting to think that it reaches people who like listening to music. And that makes a lot of sense to me, not because that I know it, but I feel like you, guys in Brazil, feel the same emotions that I do through the music, so it makes a lot of sense to me that people out there like my music.
Brazilians love music indeed...
Yes I know. I feel much honored; I also really like Brazilian music. Itâs very upbeat, and to me it's the most important thing.
You recorded a video in which you spoke Portuguese and announced your shows. Are you already practicing talking to the fans here? That video is very lovely...
[laughs] I'll try to, I promise. Because I think it's a very beautiful language. It is very inspiring for me to understand different languages.
youtube
Are you ready to face the hot weather in Brazil, especially in cities like Rio de Janeiro and Salvador?
[laughs] I think I'm going to carry a little bucket so that I can freshen myself up and Iâll try to constantly go back to a cooler place. Also Iâll take my umbrella which protects me from the sun, it is very light. I'm also going to buy a huge hat, bigger than you can imagine. [laughs] I'm going to wear this hat everywhere I go.
I saw you performing at the Best Kept Secret festival in the Netherlands in June this year, and you said that because of an airline problem, your luggage had not arrived. Despite of this you did the whole show and at the end, after seeing everything that you had gone through, the fans gave you a hug. Was it the first time something like this happened to you?
Yes, I am very grateful to the crowd, in the end everything went well. That situation caught us unawares mainly because we didnât have our instruments and I didnât have my outfit. We didnât know if we could have the right sound for the show. But we finally managed to settle this down in the best way possible and I was very proud of my band. The crowd is always the reason why we travel, and that day I felt much loved.
There you played 3 new songs: Soft Universe, In Bottles and Feeling. Can we expect more new songs in Brazilian shows?
Surely, I think this is the best way to test out new songs. The songs that I have tested out now, during the festivals, are more "festival" with the faster rhythm appropriate for these eventsâ crowd. I have many other songs that will certainly fit my own concert because there will be my fans only who like me for what I am. Thatâs where Iâll feel more comfortable to show some more intimate compositions with more feelings. I'm going to test out more intimate songs because I know that my audience will be there.
What can you tell us about your new album?
I think my new album is going to be very me, it will be very Aurora. I'm trying to create a whole new world of emotions and happiness. I want it to be very lively and organic, with more instruments. I want it to be the best album ever!
When can we expect the record?
I hope I can release it at the beginning of next year. I still want to work on more songs for it.
youtube
Will these three songs that you have performed live on Best Kept Secret be on the album?
I still donât know because I have many songs that Iâd like to put on my second album, and it is hard enough to choose the ones that will make to it. I have to choose very well what will be left out; this changes every day.
What advice would you give to girls who are starting their musical career?
They have the power to do whatever they want to. They shouldnât listen much to people who just tell them what they like or want them to do. There are many different things for everyone in the world. You need to be proud of what you do because I'm very proud of what I do. I feel like I'm getting stronger by believing in what I do, what I like. As long as I'm proud of what I do, I know that I can live a long and beautiful life.

Sam Parry â Dem Blades Fanzine
After breaking our record transfer fee with a ÂŁ22m move for Sander Berge, it looks like the Blades are nailed on to make another signing later.
Panagiotis Retsos is a mobile central defender who currently plays for Bayer Leverkeusen, perfect long-term competition for Chris Basham. If this one comes off, it signals that this transfer window is one of succession planning for Chris Wilder.
Mirror,Celticare interested in the 28-year-old.
Wanyama spent a couple of years with Celtic earlier in his career and I seem to remember him scoring in a famous win over Barcelona at Parkhead.

âFernandes will be worth every poundâ

Portuguese football writer Jose Delgado on Bruno Fernandes:
âHeâll be worth every pound because he is a fantastic player. Manchester United have a very good player who can be the start of them rebuilding their team.
âHe is humble, he is not someone who thinks he is a star and you can see that when he plays for the national side with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo. In Manchester he will have the emotional intelligence to do his job and find his place.
âHe can be a leader in the future and I think he will impose himself by the work he does.â

Dembele to Gillingham?
BBC Radio Kentâs Ben Watts:Will it be a busy day for Gillingham boss Steve Evans and chairman Paul Scally?
Celtic boss Neil Lennon said in his press conference yesterday that theyâd turned down a bid from Gills to take teenage winger Karamoko Dembele on loan. Bhoys fan Evans worked with Dembeleâs older brother Siriki while he was manager at Peterborough.
Gillingham defender Lee Hodsonâs return to the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren was also confirmed yesterday. Reports north of the border suggest Watford loanee Alex Jakubiak could also be heading to Paisley. The 23-year-old is the Medway clubâs top scorer with six league goals, but heâs fallen out of favour and only started five times since September.
His exit would free up another matchday squad loan space at ME7 (Gills currently use the maximum of five) â Wolves winger Jordan Graham, who is out of contract in the summer, has been linked.

âCanât see anyone leavingâ
Arsenal
Akhil Vyas â Arsenal Supportersâ Trust
I think most people would say we have a need at centre-back and I wouldnât disagree. Losing Calum Chambers to injury was a blow and with Shkodran Mustafi (whatever people think of him) now out, it leaves us short. Mikel Arteta has certainly got us organised, so having an additional option may help him in the three competitions we are still in.
As I think we are a bit short, I wouldnât like to see anyone leave. Even the young players such as Eddie Nketiah are getting chances, so I canât see anyone leaving.

January can be kindâŠ
BBC Radio 5 Live
Former Derby and Swansea manager Paul Clement:âI had a good experience of the January window when I was at Swansea. It is traditionally a difficult window, it is shorter than summer and clubs do not want to sell their best players which is what you are looking for.
âWe bought four players each costing ÂŁ4m and they all had an impact in us staying in the Premier League â Tom Carroll, Jordan Ayew, Martin Olsson and Luciano Narsingh. We had real difficulties in January, we were in the relegation zone and we managed to stay up. It was good business.â

Wiganâs Robinson set for AC Milan

Wigan to AC Milan â it is like a move straight out of Football ManagerImage caption: Wigan to AC Milan â it is like a move straight out of Football Manager
Wigan defender Antonee Robinson is on the brink of a remarkable ÂŁ10m move to AC Milan.
The Serie A giants have been tracking Robinson, 22, for a number of weeks and are understood to have made a move for him on Thursday.
Robinson joined the Latics from Everton in the summer after impressing on loan at the DW Stadium.
The USA international started Tuesdayâs 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday in what could turn out to be his final appearance for the club.
Robinson cost Wigan around ÂŁ2m 12 months ago, although it is understood Everton negotiated a sell-on fee.
While Wigan manager Paul Cook would not want to lose Robinson, with his side in the Championship relegation zone, he hopes to use the money to fund deadline-day spending that gives them a chance of avoiding a return to League One.

Five Countries Where Crypto Regulation Changed the Most in 2019
Five Countries Where Crypto Regulation Changed the Most in 2019:
One of the impediments to the adoption of blockchain and crypto technologies in the world are the regulations governing their introduction into the world of business. The constantly changing nature of the legal framework and the fear of being caught up in legal disputes with regulatory authorities, especially the tax ones, is forcing most small- and medium-sized businesses across the globe to work with blockchain from the shadows.
Nonetheless, many experts believe the year 2019 has seen a significant improvement in many countries in regard to blockchain regulation, with the attitude toward digital money shifting dramatically in recent years. This observation is shared by Alina Kiselevich, a communication specialist at Enigma Securities â a crypto market broker-dealer â who told Cointelegraph that:
âSome countries now consider them legal tender, while many viewing cryptocurrencies as commodities. Governments around the world are keenly aware of the problem that the technology is rapidly outpacing the laws that govern it.âÂ
China
Blockchain adoption is being accelerated, but crypto can be only referred to as a national cryptocurrency.
When it comes to crypto regulation, the relationship with blockchain in China could compete with a Shakespearean romance. On one hand, the Chinese central authorities are introducing blockchain technology in some of their mainstay powerhouses, such as the Agricultural Bank of China and other financial institutions, for tracking transactions and introducing transparency. However, on the other hand, they are still cracking down on cases in which the technology is used among the population.
Chinaâs leading social media platform, Weibo, recently banned leading Chinese crypto platforms Binance and Tron due to a violation of its rules. In November, Shanghai regulators ordered a search of all local crypto exchanges and formed reports on their findings to the Peopleâs Bank of China for further action.
Regardless of the bans, The Standing Committee of the 13th National Peopleâs Congress in China ruled that a new law on the regulation of cryptographic technology will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2020. The law aims to set a regulatory framework for blockchain applications in light of President Xi Jinpingâs calls for accelerating the adoption of blockchain technology in the country.
According to Steve Tsou, global CEO of RRMine â a distributed Bitcoin hashrate asset management and trading platform â 2019 has been a year of laying down the regulatory foundations for Chinese crypto. He told Cointelegraph:
âVarious regions have passed a series of policies to support blockchain companies and set up innovative pilot areas. Among them, the core directions are AI tech based on computing power and blockchain, IOT networks, and offshore digital financial innovation.â
Speaking about the future development of crypto regulation in China, Tsou added that, âWith clearer supportive attitude and more restrictive supervision, there can be a process of trial, which has at least found an exit and clear direction for the entire crypto world.â Similar expectations were shared with Cointelegraph by Sukhi Jutla, the co-founder of MarketOrders â a blockchain-based platform for the gold and diamond jewelry industry:
âWith over 1 billion population in China, this looks like the perfect testing ground to see mass adoption taking place. China is already the leader when it comes to mobile payments and creating their own dedicated cryptocurrency was the natural next step. China is the home to thousands of blockchain startups so I wouldnât be surprised to see China leading the way and making even more gingiva advancements in 2020.â
France
Crypto-to-crypto trades are not taxable.
The land of high arts and couture has been on the sidelines of blockchain integration, until François Villeroy de Galhau, the governor of the Bank of France, announced that the institution is ready to launch a pilot project for a central bank digital currency, or CBDC, in the first quarter of 2020.
The new instrument will be based on a digital euro format and will be available only to financial institutions, excluding retail customers. The move has already been regarded as a counteract to the threat posed by Facebookâs Libra stablecoin, considering that France is aiming to become the first country to issue a CBDC with blockchain-based settlements and is currently the biggest adopter of Bitcoin payments, with over 25,000 sales points accepting it across the country.
In another, even more crypto-friendly move, French Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire stated on Sept. 12 that crypto-to-crypto trades will no longer be subject to tax. However, sales of cryptocurrencies for fiat will still be taxable with the nationâs treasury.
Germany
Banks are allowed to work with cryptocurrencies.
Rational and calculative as ever, the German government has been biding its time in releasing any manner of clarification regarding its stance on blockchain technologies. At present, the German financial industry, one of the main engines of Europeâs largest economy, is prohibited from having any dealings with cryptocurrencies.
However, the German government passed a bill in November that allows banks to sell Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as grant custody over them, by the end of 2020.
Though the law is still at the draft stage, it has been met with significant enthusiasm from local businesses, as it would allow banks to streamline crypto operations and give them the authority to safeguard user assets on the basis of their experience and established risk mechanisms.
The United States of America
Digital assets are regulated just like fiat money.
The U.S. is seen as a trendsetter in terms of blockchain and cryptocurrency adoption, and most other countries in the world act in hindsight to the economic giant across the Atlantic. Though still fragmented on regulation at the state level, the U.S. is coming to terms with the need to adopt new technology as individual state authorities pass crypto-friendly laws.

The state of Wyoming passed a bill in 2019 that came into effect on March 1. The law divided digital assets into three categories: digital consumer assets, digital securities and virtual currencies.
All assets from the category of virtual currencies will be equated with fiat currencies and subject to the same tax and supervision procedures. The law also allows banks to provide custodial services for digital assets, making the ownership of cryptocurrencies both legal and equal in status to fiat currencies.
Iran
Crypto mining is legal but needs a license.
Introducing new technology in a land so harshly pressured by Western sanctions is a tricky deal. Notably, Iran is becoming one of the main hubs for cryptocurrency and blockchain adoption, spurred on by its long-standing sanctions. Both the Iranian government and citizens are increasingly turning to decentralized technology for circumventing the economic blockade.

In what can be described as a bold move, the Iranian government passed a law in July 2019 that endorsed the mining of cryptocurrencies, equating it to industrial activity. The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has already started issuing licenses for the activity, and demand is surging. The activity will be subject to taxation like in any other industry, and miners who create their own mining farms will get support from the government.
To encourage the trend, the Iranian government is offering subsidized electricity rates at half a cent per kilowatt for mining activities, a trend that has started attracting mining companies from China and even the U.S. to Iran. However, despite the seemingly libertarian approach and progressive attitude toward blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies are banned as a means of settlement in Iran.

As the leading countriesâ stances on the crypto market have changed in 2019, other regions also have a part to play in impacting cryptocurrency and blockchain adoption. Among them is the United Kingdom, according to Galyna Danilenko from Smartlands, a U.K.-based digital securities issuance and investment platform: âUK has made a significant breakthrough in 2019: with the legal paper issued in November, digital assets were recognized as property.â
Jessica Renden, head of operations at cryptocurrency exchange Cointree, referred to Japan and New Zealand as the main countries that are setting trends in the crypto regulation market in 2019. She explained her view to Cointelegraph:
âThe New Zealand tax authorities have confirmed that bitcoin and several other coins are approved as salary payment alternatives, subject to employment contracts set out by employers. Earlier this year the Japanese government passed a bill to incorporate cryptocurrency into regulation and to date have 21 approved registered crypto exchanges.â
Russia is another country that made the most promising breakthrough in cryptocurrency regulation, according to Evan Luthra, a Forbes âTop 30 Under 30â tech entrepreneur and blockchain expert holding an honorary Ph.D. in decentralized and distributed systems. He told Cointelegraph that although legislation on cryptocurrencies has not been formed yet in Russia, a lot has changed throughout the year:
âThe authorities changed their initial radically negative position and are now interested in developing new technologies for the benefit of the state, financial system, welfare, and convenience of citizens. The main achievement, I guess, was the Russian Federal Law âOn Digital Rightsâ release.â
According to MarketOrdersâ Jutla, the United Arab Emirates is one of the leaders in crypto regulation when it comes to the Middle East. He said:
âThis year, the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in the United Arab Emirates drafted a resolution on regulating crypto-assets, providing greater clarity for crypto-related projects in the Middle East nation. By drafting this resolution, the UAE is sending a positive sign to the world. This can be seen as a signal that they are open to exploring this area and by creating guidelines they are giving more reassurance, confidence and stability to businesses owners who may want to enter this field.â
Cryptocurrency regulation trend moves on
Experts predict that in the next couple of years, more countries will make significant changes in their crypto regulation. In regard to this, Renden told Cointelegraph that the first country-backed digital currency should arrive in the next one to two years, potentially from China. She added:
âThis will open the floodgates as regulators become more comfortable and organizations around the globe realize the benefits digital currencies provide, such as low transaction fees and instant payments. Within five years, we expect all first-world countries to have released, or to be working on their own digital currency if they arenât already.â
While sharing an opinion on this matter to Cointelegraph, Kiselevich said that he sees numerous countries around the world making big steps toward launching and implementing both crypto and blockchain technologies, adding that, âIt looks like a trend that might be followed by a lot of countries later.â

BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT: â ENNEMIS INTERIURS (ENEMIES WITHIN) What starts out as a straight forward interview becomes an intense interrogation in this scathing, political thriller. Set in the 90âs, the film also looks at Franceâs turbulent relationship with Algiers. As the film begins, An Algerian teacher (Hassan Ghancy) applies for French Citizenship. He answers a series of basic questions of Franceâs Culture to an officer (Najib Oudghiri). But as the interview progresses, questions start to lean toward a terrorist attack by two Algerians. The officer suspects those two were at the same mosque meeting the teacher was at. The interrogation grows more hostile as the officer tries to get the teacher to name names. The premise probably has the simplest delivery of the films in this category. Most of the film is just these two character in a single room, talking. And yet itâs the most gripping short in this category. Starting with a simple Q & A, writer/director Selim Azzazi builds a slow burn of suspense coming out of each information revealed. The teacher also reveals himself to be a complex protagonist. Though born in the Algiers, he considers himself first and foremost a French man. He argues that since Algiers was part of the French Empire when he was born, he is therefore a Frenchman. But his fate lies in the hands of a man who could deport him with just the click of his pen. And no one will let him leave without two names. You donât know much about him, but thanks to Ghancyâs performance, you care for him and donât believe he had anything to do with this. This film takes a simple premise and keeps you in suspense. When itâs over, youâll have a lot to talk about with your friends. â LA FEMME ET LE TGV The most romantic short in this category, this adorable little gem from Switzerland follows the developing relationship of two people who never meet. Every day, the TGV passes a little house of Elise (Jane Birkin), whose always there to wave her Swiss Flag. This seems to be the only high point of her day. Once a successful business, Eliseâs bakery now struggles with competition from the All Deal retail store. Not helping is this ballet blaring techno tunes right next door. Her son Pierre (Mathieu Bisson) has grown up and moved out. Her only companion is Balthazar the budgie. So, the only excitement of her day is the coming of the TGV. Then one day, a letter comes flying onto out of the train and onto her lawn. So, begins a loving correspondence between Elise and the mysterious train conductor named Bruno. Elise would send letters and her treats to Bruno, who throws his letters out the window, along with some cheese. But their romantic correspondence comes under threat when the train takes a different route. La Femme Et Le TGV reminds me a lot of 84 Charing Cross Road, a biopic about two bookdealers (Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins) who formed a bond through business correspondence. Both films are romances centered around two people who never meet. Youâd think this would be the kiss of death for romance films, and yet both films seem to make it work. Romance live and die by the chemistry between the two leads. How can you have chemistry when the two leads never have a scene together? With great writing, thatâs how. Elise and Bruno bring out their most romantic sides in their letters, often turning to each other to vent their personal problems. Though it begs the question; are they falling for each otherâs true selves or just idealized versions of each other? What also makes it work is Birkinâs performance. She creates such a quirky character in Elise that she brings joy in every minute sheâs on screen. When she waves her swiss flag, she brings out her characterâs genuine happiness. Plus, she faces the task of selling the questionable decision of falling for a person she hasnât met. Her romance feels so genuine that you canât help but root for her to get together with Bruno. She also as good in her low points, especially when Pierre gives his mom a degrading birthday present. The film is also very funny. Elsie cherishes Brunoâs gifts of cheese. Thereâs just one problem; she hates cheese. So, we are treated to the hilarious image of a fridge full of cheese. La Femme et Le Tiv will leave audiences swooning over this romance. â SILENT NIGHTS All the way from Denmark comes a love story about two people fallen on hard times. Kwame (Prince Yaw Appliah) immigrated from Ghana in hopes of providing more for his wife and kids. Instead, He finds himself on living on the street, making a living by collecting bottles. Meanwhile, Social worker Inger (Malene Beltoft) cares for her deadbeat, drunken mother Solveig (Vibeke Hastrup), who makes her life a living hell. These two lost souls come into each other lives when Kwameâs beaten by some racist thugs and Inger comes to his aid. After nursing him to health, they sleep with each other. They seem like a great couple, if it werenât for a few problems. First, Solveig is gets very racist when sheâs drunk, which leads to an awkward first meeting. Second, thereâs both living in states of extreme poverty. Oh, and thereâs the matter of Kwameâs wife and kids in Ghana. The film seems to draw inspiration from Rainer Werner Fassbinderâs romantic masterpiece Ali: Fear Eats the Soul. Both films focus on the relationship between a lonely woman and an immigrant and the prejudices inflicted upon them. While not as frequent as in the later film, Silent Nights still has Kwame dealing with racial hostility, as previous beatings indicate. In an interesting spin, the hostility doesnât only come from Caucasians. In fact, the thugs are of Danish born Arabs. I assume writer/director Aske Bangâs trying to prove whites arenât the only onesâ hostile towards refugees. The film is clearly a commentary on the Syrian refugee crisis. What is surprising is how complicated the film portrays Kwame. The man came to Denmark thinking it would give him a better chance to provide for his family, only to find himself under a tunnel in the freezing cold, at least when the shelterâs not full. Fearing shame, Kwame canât bring himself to return home without anything to show for it. On one hand, we can sympathize with his circumstances. But then Bang tests our sympathies by having him commit criminal activities. Kwameâs need for funds becomes urgent when his daughter contracts malaria. In his desperation, he commits a horrible act thatâs not only criminal, but also nearly destroys his relationship with Inger. Sure, you understand why he did it, but itâs still a horrible thing to do. And then thereâs the fact heâs cheating on his wife and doesnât even have the decency to tell Inger, which may prove unforgivable for some audience members. We probably wouldnât feel any sympathy if it werenât for Appliah, who brings a lot of heart into his performance. The film has a lot of ups and downs. The filmsâ highpoint is the opening scene, which intertwines Kwameâs and Ingerâs troubled lives with a church choirâs beautiful rendition of âSilent Night.â The low point is the ending. The message it sends is justâŠconfusing. Whether the high points outweigh the low points is up to the audience. â SING (MINDEKI) Not to be confused with Illuminationâs recent animated film, Sing is a Hungarian import. Moving to a new school is never easy for a kid. Despite the butterflies in her stomach, Zsofi (Dorka Gasparfalvi) fits right into her new environment, even joining her new best friend Liza (Dorka Hais) in the schoolsâ award winning choir class. After the first rehearsal, Zsofi comes to see why choir director Ms. Erika (Zsofia Szamosi) is her favorite teacher. But then Ms. Erika pulls her aside and insists Zsofi lip synch for the rest of rehearsals, which drains the poor girl of her enthusiasm. Soon, the girls come to realize how unfair adults can be. While a lesser actress would have hammed it up as Ms. Erika, Szamosi delivers a more nuanced realism to the character. When we first meet this teacher, she seems like a nice, encouraging teacher. When she does put down Psofiâs singing, she twists her insults under a polite guise; âYou can sing in your head.â Szamosi maintains her polite manner as Ms. Erika tries to rationalize her questionable treatment of some students. It takes a hard push for her to show her true colours, but even then, she tries to mind her manners. Through Ms. Erika, the girls can see how adults make excuses for bad behavior, always believing themselves to be in the right. Matching her performance as the girls. Whenever they are together, Gasparfalvi and Hais make the interactions between Zsofi and Liza feel like real life conversations between two girls. Gasparfalvi is so joyful in the early scenes that when Zsofiâs spirit is broken, itâs upsetting. These little actresses further the depth of their characterâs relationships when Zsofi wonât tell the concerned Liza why sheâs upset. When they gather the choir team to get back at Ms. Erika, their hilarious revenge is glorious. SPOILER ALERT: These elements come together thanks to Director/Co-writer Kristof Deak. But one scene proves he has excellent storytelling skills. During one choir rehearsal, Liza starts to grow suspicious. She looks to student after student, and comes to realize Zsofi isnât the only one whoâs lip synching. The irony is the choirâs song is about singing in defiance. The fact he pulls this off without any spoken dialogue takes a master storyteller. â TIMECODE We conclude with the Palme Dâor winning at the Cannes Film Festival. Today seemed like any other day for security guard Luna (Lali Ayguade) until she got a call from her boss. Apparently, a clientâs tail lights were knocked out and the boss wants her to check the video. After typing in the timecode, the video reveals fellow guard Diego (Nicolas Ricchini) was dancing across the parking lot and accidently kicked out the light. Instead of ratting him out, Luna decides to try her hand at it. On her shift, she awkwardly dances in front of the security cameras and leaves a note of the times for Diego to watch it. Diego plays along, leaving notes for her to watch his dancing. This exchange starts a funny bond between these two. This is the third short film in this category centred around a blooming romance. The question is does this even count as a romance or just two friend enjoying a common activity? Either way, this short film is very funny, especially in the way it ends. Who Will Win? The odds are in favour of Ennemis Interieurs. This film is probably the best written and best acted film on the list, bringing a complex discussion of immigration and terrorism under a deceptively simple guise of a political thriller.

15 Times A U.S. President Showed Up in Marvel Comics
Love him or hate him, as of January 20, 2017 Donald J. Trump has officially become the 45th President of the United States of America. However, what you may not have known is that this will also make President Trump the leader of the Marvel Comics Universeâs America.
RELATED:Â SALES OF MARCH SOAR AFTER DONALD TRUMP INSULTS JOHN LEWIS
Since the companyâs humble beginnings as Timely comics, Marvel has made something of a tradition out of honoring American Presidents by featuring them in their comics. Though their appearances are sometimes little more than cameos or passing topical references, some of our nationâs leaders have been key figures for full issues or even in entire story arcs! Since weâve just begun a new Presidency, thereâs no better time for us to look back at 15 of the times an American President made an appearance in a Marvel comic.
DEADPOOL KILLS 31 ZOMBIFIED US PRESIDENTS
Back in 2012, as part of their MARVEL NOW initiative, Marvel relaunched Deadpool with a new #1 helmed by the creative team of writers Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan, along with artist Tony Moore and colorist Val Staples. The bookâs first arc (issues #1-6), appropriately called âDead Presidents,â finds Deadpool being called in by S.H.I.E.L.D. to fight and kill reanimated versions of 31 US Presidents, spanning from George Washington to Ronald Regan.
Necromancer, a magical former member of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the ability to bring living creatures back to life, decides to reanimate all of the former Presidents of the United States in hopes that their guidance can save America from itself. This plan completely backfires when his magic not only corrupts the former Presidents, but also gives them superpowers. After deciding the best course of action is to destroy the country and start fresh, Deadpool (along with the ghost of Benjamin Franklin) is called in to take them all out and save America. Itâs also worth mentioning that 39th President Jimmy Carter also makes an appearance in issue #1, even though heâs still very much alive.
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT CALLS FOR BACK-UP
The 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt began making appearances in Marvel comics all the way back in 1940 when Marvel was still known as Timely Comics. His first appearance was in issue #10 of Timelyâs first series âMarvel Mystery Comics,â a book that featured multiple stories about some of Marvelâs earliest characters like Namor the Sub-Mariner, and the original (robotic) Human Torch.
FDR made his comic debut, in a story penciled by artist Steve Dahlman, that follows Electro (not to be confused with the Spider-Man villain), a Robot created by Professor Philo Zogolowski and funded by the US Government, to fight crime and corruption. When the villainous Cuban scientist Dr. Bruno Varoz develops a synthetic blood formula that allows him to reanimate human corpses, he creates an army of the undead and sends them to attack major American cities. When conventional means fail, President Roosevelt calls in Professor Zog and Electro to deal with Varoz. After defeating his armies and tossing him in a vat of acid, Zogolowski is personally congratulated by FDR for defending his country.
HARRY TRUMAN GETS KIDNAPPED
In a story by Stan Lee and Mike Sekowsky featured in issue #34 of âHuman Torch Comics,â President Harry Truman is kidnapped by a two-dimensional being known as B4, who is the leader of his two-dimensional world of Flatula.
The issue begins with the original Human Torch and his sidekick, Sun Girl, watching a baseball game together, when suddenly the ball flattens and disappears mid-pitch. The game is then interrupted by the breaking news that the President has also vanished while addressing the public. Eventually the Torch figures out whatâs going on and the duo travel to Philadelphia in time to see the words on the Declaration of Independence disappear. As the Liberty Bell starts to flatten itself, Human Torch and Sun Girl grab on, transporting themselves to Flatula.
After being captured by the locals and taken to B4, the Torch and Sun Girl are taken to a zoo holding everything stolen from the 3-dimensional world. When the Torch finally Flames on, he discovers that since fire is 3-dimensional, he and Sun Girl are immune to the effects of the flat dimension. They then burn everything between them and the zoo before freeing the captives and returning home with B4 as their prisoner so that the Flatulans can never kidnap anyone again.
DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER GETS KIDNAPPED
In âWhat If?â #9, by writer Don Glut and artist Alan Kupperbuerg, Iron Man calls a meeting with Avengers members Captain America, Thor, Vision, and Beast to show them his newest invention, a dimensional viewer. He explains that the device allows them to see a video feed of an alternate Earth where another group of heroes somewhat similar to the five of them also founded a superhero team called The Avengers, albeit in the 1950s.
F.B.I. agent Jimmy Woo recruits Marvel Boy, 3-D Man, Gorilla Man, the Human Robot and the goddess Venus to rescue President Dwight D. Eisenhower from the supervillain Yellow Claw and his Masters of Evil-style team of villains made up of the heroâs individual nemeses. After completing their mission, President Eisenhower disbands the team, believing that learning about super-powered beings like The Avengers would send the public into a panic. The âAvengersâ agree and disband until a time when their world needs them again.
MERLIN TRIES TO STEAL AMERICA FROM JOHN F. KENNEDY
In his last contemporary appearance in a Marvel comic, and just a few short weeks before his assassination, President John F. Kennedy almost has the country stolen right from under him by Merlin the Wizard in âJourney into Mysteryâ #96, by writers Stan Lee and Robert Bernstein, and artist Joe Sinnott. We learn that Merlin is in fact a mutant who used his powers of telepathy, levitation, and teleportation to fake magic.
Shortly after using his powers to send a missile test off course, Merlin teleports himself to Washington D.C. and storms the White House intending to take control of the country from JFK. Thor and Merlin duke it out on the White House lawn with Merlin using the Washington Monument as a giant spear, and animated the Lincoln Memorial statue with his âmagicâ for back up. Realizing their powers were pretty evenly matched, Thor decides to throw a Hail Mary and turn back into his old alter ego, Dr. Donald Blake, in an attempt to convince Merlin that heâs a shapeshifter with countless more powerful forms. Merlin buys Thorâs tall tale, so Thor commands him to return to his sarcophagus for another 1,000 years.
LYNDON B. JOHNSON PARDONS BRUCE BANNER
President Lyndon B. Johnson really had his hands full as the President of Marvelâs America. While he was in office S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded, he reunited Nick Fury and the Howling Commandoes, and Kang the Conqueror nearly took over the planet. He was also a fairly prominent figure during a few Hulk storylines back when the character was gracing the pages of âTales to Astonish.â
In issue #64, written by Leon Lazarus and drawn by Carl Burgos, Bruce Banner finds himself locked up in a government prison after allegedly attempting to steal an invention he created for the army. Bruce is moved to Washington D.C. for a trial, and receives a visit from Rick Jones who tries to convince Bruce to reveal himself as the Hulk. Bruce refuses, believing that exposing himself could put America at risk if their enemies learned who he was and how he got his powers. He remarks that he could only expose his identity to someone who he knew would never let the information get out. This gives Rick the idea to pay a visit to none other than President Lyndon B. Johnson himself. After flashing his official Avengers card, he gets an audience with the President and earns Bruce Banner a pardon.
RICHARD NIXON STAGES A COUP
You may know he was also the Commander-in-Chief during Galactusâ assault on Earth, but are you aware that President Richard Nixon also acted as Number One, the leader of the Secret Empire? Originally a satellite organization of HYDRA, by the time Nixon is their leader, the Secret Empire is an independent group seeking to overthrow the American Government by capturing mutants (including notable X-Men like Beast, Angel, and Ice Man) and channeling their powers into a flying saucer-like super-weapon.
In âCaptain Americaâ #175, written by Steve Englehart and drawn by Sal Buscema, we see Cap, The Falcon, Cyclops, and Jean Grey (still acting as Marvel Girl) are able to defeat the members of the Secret Empire, but Nixon escapes into the White House before being corned in the Oval Office by Cap. Rather than accepting his capture, Number One removes his mask, revealing his identity to Cap (but not the reader) as a high ranking government official before committing suicide. Though we donât see Nixonâs face, the implication was so clear that Marvel tried to distance themselves from the storyâs connection to the Watergate scandal in the issueâs letters section. However, writer Steve Englehart has since come out and said he absolutely intended Number One to be President Nixon.
GERALD FORD IS ALMOST ASSASSINATED
In âIncredible Hulkâ #185, by writer Len Wein and artist Herb Trimpe, President Gerald Ford is scheduled to visit the Hulkbuster Base to congratulate Colonel Glenn Talbot on escaping from Russian captivity. It just so happens that Colonel John Armbruster has also captured Bruce Banner, tranquilized him, and locked him up deep beneath the Hulkbuster Base. When President Ford arrives at the base later that day, heâs shown around by Talbot, General âThunderboltâ Ross, and Rossâ daughter Betty. Ross takes the President down to where Banner is being held to brag about his capture, and Bruce even mocks Ford by calling him Vice-President (Ford was VP until Nixonâs resignation, if you recall).
As the trio shows the President around the base, Armbruster learns from a secret report that Talbotâs âescapeâ was actually a plot by the Russians, and that the man they believe to be Talbot is in fact a Russian spy with a bomb implanted in his chest who was sent to kill President Ford. Without warning, Armbruster bursts into the room and tackles âTalbotâ over the edge of a railing. The spyâs body then explodes, killing both of them in the blast.
JIMMY CARTER (AND GERALD FORD) RUN AGAINST HOWARD THE DUCK
In the Marvel Universe, the 1976 Presidential race was between incumbent President Gerald Ford, the man who defeated him, President Jimmy Carter, andâŠHoward the Duck. While working as a security guard for the fringe âAll-Nightâ Party, Howard learns the groupâs leader has recently dropped out and theyâre looking for a new candidate. After he discovers a bombâs been placed in the crowd, Howard rushes on stage during the new candidateâs speech and manages to save everyone by sacrificing the eventâs giant cake to smother the bomb, and the group immediately names Howard their new candidate.
Despite numerous attempts on his life and disagreements with members of his party, Howard manages to craft a solid platform. He vows to crack down on pollution, cut military spending, give amnesty to draft-dodgers, strive for bipartisanism and improve education. While neither Presidents Carter nor Ford take Howard seriously, he still manages to poll with 30% of Americans saying theyâd vote for him (although 48% said they would kill him), before a doctored photo of Howard taking a bath with his sidekick Beverly begins a sex scandal in âHoward the Duckâ #8, written by Steve Gerber and drawn by Gene Colan, that quickly ends his Presidential bid.
RONALD REGAN FIGHTS CAPTAIN AMERICA
âCaptain Americaâ #344, written by Mark Gruenwald and drawn by Kieron Dwyer, tells a story where the supervillain Viper (later known as Madame Hydra) poisons Washington D.C.âs water supply with a mutagenic agent that causes people to hallucinate and turn into âSnake-Men.â President Ronald Regan is one of the many people affected by the toxin, and Steve Rogers (then acting as The Captain) fights him inside the Oval Office.
Ronald Regan strips down to his underwear as he succumbs to the mutagen, gaining scales and super powers. He then attacks Cap, who is forced to evade rather than fight back in order to keep from killing the President. Luckily for both of them, Regan sweats enough during their brawl to work the toxin out of his system, and he quickly loses his scales and returns to his human form. Weâre shown that he at least temporarily retains his sharpened canines, but unfortunately Reganâs days as superhuman seem to end here.
GEORGE H.W. BUSH HAS PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY
Our 41st President, George H.W. Bush, makes arguably the least significant appearances of all the Presidents on this list. That being said, he did make a handful of fairly notable cameos in the first volume of âIron Manâ during the late â80s and early â90s.
He made his debut in the Marvel Universe in âIron Manâ #247, written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton, who also acted as a penciler for the issue. President Bush briefly appears on television to claim he had no knowledge of collusion between the F.B.I. and the crime syndicate known as the Maggia. He later returned to the book in âIron Manâ #277, by writer John Byrne and artist Paul Ryan, when heâs alerted that hidden missile silos across the Midwest have launched nuclear warheads straight at Russia as part of a Soviet plot to begin World War III (Iron Man and Black Widow intervene and save the day, though).
BILL CLINTON EXILES CAPTAIN AMERICA
President Bill Clinton is featured prominently in the four-issue miniseries celebrating Capâs 50th anniversary, âCaptain America: Man Without a Country.â His first appearance in the arc is in âCaptain Americaâ issue #450, by writer Mark Waid and artist Ron Garney, when President Clinton charges Cap with treason and exiles him from U.S. soil.
After meeting with Sharon Carter in London and getting a new uniform without the stars and stripes, the duo travel to Moldovia, where the villain Machinesmith has built an Argus Cannon to try and force a conflict with the U.S. While trying to invade the base where the cannon is being held, Cap and Sharon get captured and taken to Machinesmith, who then explains that heâs stolen the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrierâs override codes. He directs the carrier to crash into a nearby mountain while he teleports to Camp David to assassinate the President. Cap is ultimately able to foil the Machinesmith and save President Clinton, earning his thanks and the reinstatement of his citizenship and title as Captain America.
GEORGE W. BUSH PASSES THE SUPERHUMAN REGISTRATION ACT
Marvelâs 2006 âCivil Warâ event kicks off when the New Warriors, a group of superheroes with their own reality show, take on a group of villains way out of their league in a quest for ratings instead of calling in the Avengers. Among the villains they attack is Nitro who during the conflict, explodes and kills over 600 people (including 60 children). Tony Stark is accused of being responsible for the culture of superheroes (due to him bankrolling The Avengers) by one of the childrenâs parents, so he decides itâs time for him to get involved.
In response to growing public demand for greater accountability from superheroes, President George W. Bush meets with Stark, Reed Richards and Hank Pym in âCivil Warâ #1, by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven, to develop the Superhuman Registration Act. He expresses his concern that Captain America is the figurehead for the rebellion, and asserts that they will need their own figurehead before Iron Man steps forward to tell him that they will deal with Cap.
THE CHAMELEON TRIES TO REPLACE BARACK OBAMA
In âAmazing Spider-Manâ #583, written by Mark Waid and drawn by Barry Kitson, the supervillain known as the Chameleon attempts to impersonate and kidnap President Barack Obama on his Inauguration Day so that he can take his place as the next President of the United States. The real Obama manages to escape and his Vice-President â Joe Biden drives â him to the inauguration to stop the Chameleon.
Peter Parker is also in D.C. trying to sneak into the inauguration without a press pass. Just as heâs about to be arrested for trespassing, Senator John McCain recognizes Peter as a photographer for the Daily Bugle and gets one for him. Once inside, Peter sees that two Obamas have arrived to the inauguration, so he becomes Spider-Man and exposes the imposter by asking the two of them a series of questions that only the true President Obama would know how to answer.
DONALD TRUMP THREATENS TO SUE LUKE CAGE
President Donald Trumpâs appearance on this list is unique because, due to his celebrity status prior to the election, heâs the only President whose appearance happened before his actual Presidency. In what is arguably the least flattering appearance on this list, Trump is briefly shown getting into a conflict with Luke Cage in âNew Avengersâ issue #47, written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Billy Tan and Michael Gaydos.
When Trumpâs limousine is blocking the way of an ambulance trying to respond to an emergency, Luke Cage lifts the vehicle out of the way before carelessly dropping it back on the street. Trump jumps out and threatens Luke with a lawsuit, but Cage responds by slamming his hands on the hood and screaming at him to âGet (his) ass back in the car!â This causes Trump to retreat to his limo and rolling up the window as a crowd of civilians applaud.

All you need to know about Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes has become one of Europe & # 39; s most wanted midfielders after his incredible season for Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese star even surprised José Mourinho with his rapid rise to the top, so it is certainly worth taking a closer look at the 24-year-old.
Here, Sportsmail delves deeper into Fernandes' playing style, why he could be invaluable to Manchester United and how he is such a target threat.
<img id = "i-c966396f0c56e09" src = "https://ift.tt/30BGxJF -40_1563356407935.jpg "height =" 429 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-c966396f0c56e09" src = "https://ift.tt/2xNdHd4 10 / 16155356-7256083-image-a-40_1563356407935.jpg "height =" 429 "width =" 634 "alt =" Bruno Fernandes helped Portugal to win the UEFA Europa League this summer "class =" blkBorder img-share " helped Portugal to win the UEFA Europa League this summer "

How Fernandes rode his way to the top?
Last season was the outbreak campaign of Fernandes with a record of 32 goals from midfield.
But before that time, few will have known about the man from Maia in northern Portugal.
And he went grinding his craft in the Series A with Udinese, where he played 86 games before joining Sampdoria in 2016.
So really, out of the blue Fernandes has taken a prominent place and is now valued at around ÂŁ 70 million.

Fernandes broke through at Udinese and gained a lot of experience in Series A
Jose Mourinho was staggered as Fernandes & Rise. He was capped previous season winning the UEFA Nations Cup with the national side and even fellow countryman.
& # 39; I was surprised by the Bruno & # 39; season, he told Eleven Sports. & # 39; easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high g number of goals for a midfielder player.
& # 39; It shows that you have to have instinct and qualities to score and he has everything
& # 39; He hits the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one on one with the goalkeeper. I found the space in the penalty area. It is all there. "
After gaining a lot of high-level experience from a young age, it seemed that Fernandes had simply clicked on him.
<img id =" i-2d4beafb35611f81 "src =" https://ift.tt/30BGyNJ "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt = "<img id =" i-2d4beafb35611f81 "src =" https://ift.tt/30BGyNJ "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has done great damage to the defense of the opposition last year "
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder caused destruction last year for resistance fighters
What is his style? of the piece?
The 24-year-old is not a bruiser on 5ft 10 but has the frame to keep possession of the ball in the last third and this gives him all the time he needs to play a killer pass or choice the right option .
He is someone who must constantly follow opposition defenders as a duel threat, both creative and as a predator around the target.
With an average of 3.1 key passes and 3.5 shots per game last season, he was the most consistent weapon in the Sporting team and is always looking for a radical change, rather than a change easy way to choose play along.
He has a lazy running style, is not afraid of trying to shoot or nutmeg and will hardly ever miss an opportunity to put his shoelaces through and test the keeper.
Sporting offered him relative freedom and he often picked up the ball from deep to launch attacks as well as close to Bas Dost in front
[24459012] 24 year old can hit the ball with both legs and is a huge goal score threat <img id = "i-4d6264201b8a4d09" src = "https://ift.tt/2xQxLv3 /16155620-7256083-image-m-42_1563356538519.jpg "height =" 457 "width =" 634 "alt =" The 24-year-old can hit the ball with both feet and is a huge goal score threat <img id = " i-4d6264201b8a4d09 "src =" https://ift.tt/30HPDor "height =" 457 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-4d6264201b8a4d09" src = "https://ift.tt/30HPDor" height = "457" width = "634" alt = "The 24-year-old
How high is your attack output?
Fernandes has a magic wand tervoet and has something on that side, but also scored a bucket with goals with his left last season.
Defenders really have to choose their poison by showing him on both sides, because he can injure the team from anywhere and also delivered 13 assistants to teammates last season.
The fact that Frank Lampard-like skill runs out of time in the box ensures that midfielders follow an absolute nightmare and his number was also reinforced by the fact that he took penalties, free kicks and turns. ] As a spectator you can see him running away in dangerous areas with a kind of nonchalance that makes it seem like there is no immediate danger, but when he gets the ball he is already plotted the next move and that fast thinking is also responsible for such incredible numbers of attacks . The Portuguese midfielder has become one of the most impressive talents in Europe
<img id = "i-216c1a4dd2149b34" src = "https://ift.tt/2CqCUN8 07/17/10 / 16155622-7256083-image-m-46_1563356836596.jpg "height =" 426 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-216c1a4dd2149b34" src = "https: //i.dailymail .co.uk / 1s / 2019/07/17/10 / 16155622-7256083-image-m-46_1563356836596.jpg "height =" 426 "width =" 634 "alt =" The Portuguese midfielder is one of the most impressive talents Midfielder who has become Europe has become one of the most impressive talents in Europe "
The Portuguese midfielder has become one of the most impressive talents in Europe
What could he offer United
Paul Pogba was Midfield's main scoring threat at Old Trafford last season, but the player scored more than one goal from outside of 16.
The threat of Fernandes out of reach that could remedy that and free up more space for other teammates in and around the area.
Marcus Rashford in particular would enjoy connecting with the Portuguese, the neat little twos are very much part of his repertoire.
Fernandes has the kind of midfield deception that United missed and occasionally the season ended with ideas when confronted by a team that sat deep in front of them. His addition would certainly help in choosing a few stubborn locks.
<img id = "i-389554d721975a1" src = "https://ift.tt/2xQtHe7 -48_1563356945556.jpg "height =" 413 "width =" 634 "alt =" Fernandes plays with a lot of passion and enjoys the chance to change a game "plays with a lot of passion and enjoys the chance to change a game to change "
Fernandes plays with great passion and enjoys the opportunity to change a game
Are there weaknesses?
Just Like a boxer trying to land that one concussion, Fernandes is always on the lookout for the murderous game.
This can lead to him biting more than he sometimes chews or takes too much risk.
The rewards were worth it at Sporting but with a higher caliber of opposition in the Premier League, I could not get such a tolerance if it is a waste.

Napoli Dries Mertens Maurizio Sarri ready to end Serie A title drought
Gab Marcotti joins the FC panel to discuss the most recent slate of Serie A action, as Napoli and Juve stay perfect in the league.
Watching Napoli at the moment, itâs hard not to think back to the graffiti daubed on the wall of local cemetery when they won their first Scudetto in 1987. âNon sapete vi siete persi.â âYou donât know what youâre missing.â The style of football theyâre playing under Maurizio Sarri at the moment is enough to make tagging the brickwork entirely justified, regardless of the fact Napoli have won their first five games of the season for the first time in three decades.
Itâs so good that saying Napoli are playing better now than they did back when Diego Maradona and the rest of the âMA-GI-CAâ (with Bruno Giordano and Gareca) front-line were in their heyday will no longer get you laughed out of the Spanish quarter. That team was knocked off its perch (at least the following year) by Arrigo Sacchiâs Milan, which brings us neatly to Alessandro Vocalelliâs editorial in Il Corriere dello Sport on Thursday morning, entitled âI even prefer Sarri to Sacchi.â
Obviously Sarri does not have Sacchiâs palmares (âprizesâ) â not yet, anyway. Sarri got his shot at the big time later and hasnât received the same backing Sacchi received from a billionaire owner 30 years ago. But there is a palpable sense that he is on the verge of something genuinely special and is maybe even changing the game, too.
On a panel with Tite and Marcelo Bielsa at a coaching conference earlier this year, Fabio Capello recommended that members of the audience go and watch Napoli. âIn football,â he said, âthereâs innovation every 20 years or so. After Rinus Michelsâ Ajax, there was Sacchiâs Milan. Then Guardiola, who has sent football to sleep a little. Fortunately Sarri is now waking it up again.â
Itâs a mouthwatering prospect that October will see Pep and Sarri come face-to-face in one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the Champions League group stages. One imagines Wednesdayâs win away at Lazio will have done nothing to change the assessment Guardiola made of Napoli back when the draw was made in Monaco. âFor me, they are one of the three best teams right now in Europe playing football,â Pep said.
Thanks to Callejon, Insigne and Mertens, Napoli are averaging a remarkable 3.8 goals per game.
At the Olimpico, Napoli took your breath away again, scoring three goals in five minutes to turn defeat into victory. A game billed as a duel between in-form centre-forwards, Ciro Immobile and Dries Mertens, was, for a time, all about the centre-backs. After losing Wallace at the weekend, Lazio lost his replacement Bastos shortly before his partner deservedly Stefan de Vrij put them in front.
The Dutch international picked up an injury and didnât emerge for the second half; Simone Inzaghi had no choice but to play Lucas Leiva in a back three. Hardly the ideal scenario when Napoliâs front three not to mention captain Marek Hamsik boast 305 goals between them for the Partenopei. âDonât make the Martians angryâŠâ was La Gazzetta dello Sportâs takeaway. Let that be a warning to you, Serie A.
Still, it was Kalidou Koulibaly, Napoliâs centre-back, who got his side level. And before Lazio could even blink they found themselves 3-1 down. Jose Callejon finished off a 23-pass move. But it was Mertens once again who stole the show.
Through one-on-one with the keeper, Lazioâs shot-stopper Thomas Strakosha must have thought he had done enough to deny Mertens after diving to his feet and seeing the ball ricochet off him and roll towards the right sideline. Without skipping a beat, though, Mertens chased after it, turned and hit a lob from outside the area that arced like a rainbow and ended in the back of the net. Pictured on the front-page of Il Corriere dello Sport, the headline on Thursday morning said he was âlike Diego.â
They werenât kidding, either. It was a time travellerâs kind of strike, taking you back to a lob Maradona scored against the same opponent in 1985. âThey showed me it earlier,â Mertens said. âHis was better. Letâs just leave it at that.â The bashful manner in which Mertens downplayed the extraordinary nature of his goal amused the Sky Italia studio. âI just turned and hit it,â he said as if he does this all the time. Nothing special.
Mertens still didnât know what all the fuss was about when he reported for training at Castelvolturno on Thursday morning. âHe told us it was a ânormal goal,ââ said Koulibaly on Radio Kiss Kiss. âIt wasnât. It was a world class strike.â Having been the hat-trick hero in Saturdayâs 6-0 win in Benevento, Mertens now has 23 goals in 24 games in 2017 and gives Belgium manager Roberto Martinez a welcome headache. What should he do at the World Cup next summer? Go with Mertens up front or Romelu Lukaku?
A year ago, this wouldnât even have been a debate. But Gonzalo Higuainâs sale to Juventus, Arkadiusz Milikâs injury and Manolo Gabbiadiniâs inability to grasp Sarriâs tactics led to Mertensâ stunning reinvention as a striker. Out of nowhere Mertens finished the season with 38 goals in all competitions, combining for a goal or an assist more or less every 70 minutes: it was a record only matched in Europeâs top five leagues by Kylian Mbappe, who made 11 fewer starts. Mertens improbably bettered Neymar, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in this regard and, lest we forget, he didnât start playing the role with any consistency until December. In half a season, he scored 29 goals.
âIâm just sorry we only discovered he had this in him at 28,â Sarri told Sky Italia. âOtherwise he would have been a big name on the world stage for years and years.â
Sarri has infused Napoli with an attacking verve that has fans dreaming of the title.
For what itâs worth, Serie Aâs reigning coach of the year deserves huge praise for seeing what nobody else saw in Mertens. An adopted Neapolitan whom locals call âCiro,â Mertens acknowledged as much, insisting that he wouldnât be so prolific if it wasnât for the style of football the manager has instilled at Napoli. âWe had to feed the little animal,â Sarri said when Mertens returned to the starting line-up, and insisted on taking a penalty instead of Hamsik against Benevento at the weekend.
Napoli are averaging 3.8 goals per game this season, the most in Europe. Thatâs more even than PSG, whose front-line cost âŹ464 million, dwarfing the âŹ19m Napoli paid for Mertens and Callejon to play with local lad Lorenzo Insigne. Wednesdayâs win felt big even though Lazio were unlucky on Wednesday and had to play with 10 men for the final 15 minutes after Inzaghi used the last of his substitutions to replace the banged up Sergei Milinkovic-Savic, only for Dusan Basta to also need to come off injured.
Lazio beat Juventus in the Super Cup and trounced Milan here a fortnight ago, so this game represented a stress test for Sarri and his team, who didnât want to go the same way as Inter did on Tuesday and lose ground on the champions. Instead, they came back from behind, just as they did against Atalanta, and have now won 10 straight in the league. You have to go back 17 games to find Napoliâs last defeat in Serie A. Their consistency shouldnât come as any surprise to anyone given that their summer transfer window focused on keeping the teamâs best players and trusting in continuity.
Privately, Napoli believe this year is their year and the curious decision to rotate the side against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League despite lowly Benevento being up next in the league, told you all you need to know about this teamâs priorities. They lie in ending a 28-year wait for the title.

Mertens still didnât know what all the fuss was about when he reported for training at Castelvolturno on Thursday morning. âHe told us it was a ânormal goal,'â said Koulibaly on Radio Kiss Kiss.
